Chapter Text
‘Just keep moving. As long as you do that, it’ll be ok. You just have to keep moving.’ Logan thought to himself as he trudged through the treacherous snow, his destination so close yet so
far.
Looking back, Logan half regretted what he did, but at the same time, didn’t regret a thing. He had just reached the end of his rope with his parents, and couldn’t take their rude remarks toward the transgender community any longer.
“Mother, Father, I simply cannot take this anymore. I am transgender. I use he/him pronouns, and-”
His father cut him off with a slap, a loud sound echoing throughout the room.
Logan looked down, quieting.
“What was that, girl?”
“...I’m not a girl.”
“Hmm? Couldn’t hear you, ███████, what did you just say to me?”
Logan stomped his foot as he stood up abruptly, knocking his chair over in the process, “I'M NOT A GIRL!”
Logan’s father stands up as well, reaching behind him to grab the bat he keeps nearby for intruders. He swings the bat at Logan, hitting his left knee from the side, making Logan cry out and fall down.
“Get out of my house right now, young lady. I will not tolerate this kind of behavior from my daughter.”
Logan scrambles up using his hurt leg and heads towards the door, only having the time to throw on his coat and grab his school backpack before rushing out.
And now, because of that fun little interaction, Logan was slowly but surely making his way to his friend’s house, almost certainly trailing blood in the snow.
Finally scrambling up the steps to his friend’s house, he desperately knocks on the door. After waiting three minutes (Logan counted), he puts in the code his friend had told him he could use to come in at any time and opens the door. Logan prefers not to open the door himself if he can avoid it, he’d rather wait, but the cold was so much and his fingers were already turning blue, he couldn’t justify not coming in at that point. It was only logical.
He walks inside the combined living area/kitchen of the small house, seeing Dipper, his friend’s fluffy black and white cat walking up to him and looking up inquisitively, recognizing Logan from past sleepovers. Logan looks down at the male longhair cat and picks it up, cuddling him in an effort to ground himself. Still fully dressed in his coat and backpack, Logan felt far too nervous to sit down, and going to his friend’s room and trying to wake him up was out of the question. So Logan stood there, awkwardly holding and petting the now loudly purring cat, trying not to burst into tears.
Unbeknownst to Logan, his friend’s other cat, the shorthair black and white sister of Dipper, Mabel, had seen all this and decided to alert Logan’s friend immediately. Quickly sauntering over to her person’s room, she jumps up on his chest and bats at his face, meowing obnoxiously.
The human bursts awake, “Ow! Mabel, what the fuck?” Mabel jumps down on the ground and meows annoyingly while slowly walking towards the door, clearly leading her purple-haired human somewhere. “Alright, I’m up, I’m up,” Virgil groans and rubs his hand down his face, tiredly pulling on an Evanescence shirt and some MCR-themed sweatpants (or My Chemical Ro-pants as Patton called them) over his boxers and heading out the door.
Walking into the living room, Virgil rubs his eyes, “Do you need food or-” he freezes when he sees Logan, who startles and lets Dipper jump from his arms.
“Lo-Logan? What’s going on? Why are you he- oh my god you’re hurt!” Virgil rushes up to Logan, gently grabbing his shoulder.
There’s a small silence for a few seconds while Virgil and Logan make eye contact before tears accompanied by hiccuped breaths emanate from Logan, his eyes squeezing shut as he turns his face away from Virgil.
“Oh Lo… sit down, come here,” Virgil gently pulls Logan down on the couch with him, who immediately lays his head on Virgil’s chest and starts crying in earnest, gripping his oversized t-shirt like a lifeline.
Dipper cuddles up against Virgil’s side while Mabel cuddles up to Logan, both purring loudly and bringing at least a little comfort to the troubled teens.
