Grian's family

Summary:

My take on the MC hybrid au

Chapter Text

Grian: Born an Avian, turned into a Watcher. The Watchers are looking for him.

Mumbo: Born a shapeshifter, turned into a Redstone Vampire due to Redstone poisoning

Scar: Born a human, turned into a True Vex to fulfill a deal to get everyone out of Last Life

Impulse: Born a Demon. Turned into a servant of the Nether Gods and is actively being hunted by like 50 piglins from 4 different worlds (none of them Hermitcraft)

Pearl: Born a Starborne. The only Boatem member who hasn't been turned into something for someone or something. Also a runaway princess (related somehow to Scott)

Gem: Born a centaur, learned how to do small amounts of magic in Empires. Something happened to fuck her up when she tried to get onto Hermitcraft S8 and now she's a Canadian Moose hybrid who towers over Doc

Cleo: Permadied on a different server and somehow woke up on Hermitcraft as a zombie.

Stress: Your Local Friendly Fae Being With Magical Healing Cookies

False: Born a fairy, somehow got vex magic along the way. And then, to fuck it up even more, the Watchers tried and failed to make her a Valkray

Tango: Born a Demon. Turned into another servant of the Nether Gods and was sent to Hermitcraft to intercept Impulse. They both find it funny when Tango regularly reports back the most obscure shit ever

Keralis: Made the God of Chaos at the beginning of Time, but then after the Purge Generik practically shoved him into the server to save him

Zedaph: Born a satyr, but something happened during the Purge that A. Turned him immortal, and B. Removed 65% of his human emotions, hence his tendency to avoid most people and his scientific-bent mindset

Bdubs: Born a human, got turned into a Embassy of the Light, then got turned into a Glare, got updated several times, and now his code is so fucked up it even takes Xisuma a while to get through it

Doc: Creeper Hybrid. The Purge started to leak into Mindcrack and before Generik could grab him as well, the Watchers grabbed him and decided to try to remove the explosive part of him, hence the bionic parts

Ren: Wolf Hybrid. When he was in Kingdomcraft his code went wonky just in time for a creeper explosion, permanently glitching out some parts of him. Doc made his bionic parts

Iskall: Vault Hunter Champion, his eye was found in one of the more expensive vaults.

Hypno: Dreamweaver. He can't sleep too well due to just about everyone having nightmares every night, but he manages

XB: Born a merling and very vaguely remembers the Purge

Etho: Born an Enderian, escaped a pretty harsh Korean server that the Purge forced him into, and then Generik promptly shoved him into the whitelist

Beef: Originally a Butcher villager, but during an update his code got cut off, changing him into a player

Jevin: Slimcian, of the rare blue variant. He's immortal, and remembers the Purge all too well

Joe: Your Local Cryptid Player. He used to be Herobrine until The Purge forced him to take a player name

TFC: One of the First Players. He's not immortal, per se, but all First Players have extended lives to the maximum

Xisuma: Born a Voidwalker, turned into a VoidSlayer by the Watchers for the Purge. Escaped by fleeing into one of Etho's private worlds

Chapter 2: The Purge

Chapter Text

Long before Alex entered the show, there were two types of players; Steves, and Hybrids. Steves had the open world to them; Hybrids did not. Disagreeing with this arrangement, they took arms and went to war, going against the very code they were made of. Going against the Devs.

They were not pleased with this, and so started The Purge: A code that would kill all those they deemed unworthy; mostly hybrids and entities. Never the Steves.

Soon, players caught wind of the so-called trouble. But instead of helping the Devs, as they wanted, they too, went against them.

GenerikB was the first. He grabbed hybrids left and right, forcefully hiding them in his server. Mindcrack disbanded, leaving the players there vulnerable, so he snagged them too.
Soon, other admins followed. They were smart, smart enough to sweet-talk hybrids into trusting them. Hermitcraft closed, a powerful whitelist border went up.

It was not much, but it was enough.

Hermitcraft, home of the former Hunted, refused to open up to the Devs. To Notch. To Mojang.

And so, as 1.8 rolled around, The Purge stopped. The worlds stilled.

All was well.

Or was it?

Chapter 3: The Doc and the Hybrids (Part 1)

Chapter Text

The Hybrids were still unhappy with their restrictions. They protested, of course, but the Devs shut them down. They always did. Until that day...

Docm77 limped across the giant hall, hissing as he tried to contain his explosions. In front of him, Dinnerbone stood still, waiting for his answer. He had it. He had it. And he was going to do it. Drawing himself up as tall as the creeper hybrid would go, he announced, in steady tones, "I, Docm77, challenge Dinnerbone to a fight to the death. If I win, the Hybrid laws stop. If I loose..."

There was no need to finish.

After a few minutes, Dinnerbone nodded. Once. "I accept your challenge, Experiment Docm77,"

He hated the title.
But he didn't explode.
He had self control.

------------

The fight lasted a long time. How long, Doc didn't know. All of his control was in his mind, as he ignored Dinnerbone's scathing  remarks. He knew what the Dev was trying to do. Dinnerbone was trying to get him to blow up, to prove that he was too animal to be granted player rights. He knew the tricks. He didn't dare fall for them.

Chapter 4: The Doc and the Hybrids (Part 2)

Chapter Text

ClangAll motion seemed to pause as Doc, although tired, annoyed, frustrated, and missing 54% of his body, managed to catch the hilt of Dinnerbones's sword. In a classic Greek disarming move, the creeper hybrid twisted his sword. Dinnerbone's eyes scrunched up in pain as his wrist was forced to follow the movement, spraining it in the process. His suddenly weak fingers dropped the weapon.

All was still.

The Watchers leaned forward, interested in this new development. Dinnerbone was the finest fighter of the Devs, yet a simple technique from a children's book had nullified him quickly.

At ease

The 1st Watcher ordered. Doc stood back, sword swinging warily. Dinnerbone dropped his hands to his sides, still wincing. The Dev glared at the Creeper.

That was a...interesting fight

The 2nd Watcher commented. The 1st nodded

Very well. Docm77, you have won the fight. Per agreement, all laws concerning Hybrids shall be dropped. There will be no exceptions.

On December 31st, 2013, it was decreed by Mojang's council that all laws concerning Hybrids should be dropped. Although a fight nor debate was not mentioned, from there on forth, technical Dev Dinnerbone seemed oddly afraid of creepers. Creeper hybrid Docm77 is currently being celebrated across the server hub- Excerpt from the newspaper "Server Hubs Today", 2013 Special Christmas edition.
