Chapter Text

In a faraway land stood the kingdom of Hawkins, a village that was sealed away from the dangers of the world. years ago, there was a large army that was controlled by powerful leader. Vecna was the name monsters and humans gave this leader, he was not a man you wanted to cross. Vecna saw the world as an unbalanced mess, a mess that needed to be fixed. Many people suffered at the hands of Vecna, no soul was spared by his undead army. There was only one source of power that was able to cast Vecna back to his realm. this said power was held by the royal family, the Harringtons. After ton of blood shed from both sides Vecna ended up being the victor. slaying Both the king and queen of Hawkins. Being backed into the corner the young prince Steve was left with no other option, once Vecna and his army stormed the castle Steve used his full power to cast a forbidden spell, a seal that would cast all evil from this land. Using a spell with this kind of power takes risk, a sacrifice. The spell dragged Vecna and his army back to the upside down, banishing him to never set foot on the over world again. As the land settled the remaining knights and village found a large crystal that had encase the young prince. This crystal was the power source for the seal that was now protecting the village from all harm, but also a reminder of the sacrifice Steve made to keep his people safe. To keep this source safe mages created a magical temple around the crystal for protection from anyone and anything, Vecna should never be able to return to the over world again.

Many years after the war ended the town of Hawkins started a new kingdom from the ground up, they built their village around the magical temple. Hawkins was home to many creatures, big and small! anyone who wanted safety from the outside world were allowed to stay, as along they didn't cause any trouble of course. Of course, not everyone followed those rules, Eddie the demon was a good example of that. Eddie was a travelling bard that found a home in Hawkins. He would play songs written by many musicians, some songs he did steal from many unexpected song writers, of course. Eddie was walking through the busy streets of Hawkins; he glanced around him as he pasted a food stand. sneakily his used his tail to grab an apple from one of the crates the apples were being held in. once in the clear the sneaky demon brought the apple up to his hand and took a bite out of it. Sweet, sweet victory. Eddie made his way to a tavern where one of his loyal friends worked, taking a seat at the bar he put on a smile when he saw his fluffy haired elf. "Gareth! your hellish imp has arrived." Eddie said in one of his dramatic voices.

Gareth looked over and smiled seeing Eddie. Gareth quickly finished a drink order for a large Orc before, moving over to his friend. "Imp huh?" he grinned in a teasing way," Yeah yeah, you know what I meant... we both come from hell but- forget about that! are you ready for today?" Eddie asked, he was full of excitement, you could see it in his eyes. The small elf male smiled with the same amount of excitement. "Are you kidding me? of course I am! The celebration of the prince is always the best. last year I managed to get front of the crowd to watch the fireworks! mages are so talented man... I wish I could do something as spell as that." he mumbled the last part, Eddie raised his brow and spun in his seat to face Garth, "Hey. you are the coolest elf this town ever had. no one can play the drums like you can." Eddie said with a soft smile, he looked around and leaned over the counter to Gareth," I bet Andy thinks you're pretty neat as well." Gareth eyes widened and grabbed some of Eddie’s hair and shoved it into the demon’s face, "S-Shut up Eddie! I just... you know what I mean. you’re a demon from Hell! I'm just an elf that helps my dad’s run a tavern." Eddie frowns softly and looked to the side to think, he decided to get his mind off of this subject, "Hey, when are you off? I'd like to show you something." Eddie said happily, his tail slowly wagging. Gareth smiled at Eddie's tail waving; he glanced over at the wooden clock that ticked. He hummed as he stood up straight, " I could take a small break. What exactly did you want to show me?" Gareth asked, being curious of the demon's plan but also very cautious. Eddie grins and jumped up from his seat, “To your room! I'd rather not let any wondering ears listen to us..." he said, Gareth rolled his eyes and placed the cloth down that he used to clean the tabletops.

He waved over Eddie to follow him. the two males walked up a staircase to the second floor where Gareth lived with his two dads. he walked over to his room, he opened the door and let Eddie step inside, “So, what did you want to tell me?" he asked, watching the demon flop onto his bed. Eddie rolled onto his back and lazily looked over at the elf, "what if I told you I found a way in the temple?" he smirked, Gareth eyes widened hearing this. The temple was enchanted with a magical seal of its own, the only people that were allowed inside was members of the magical Commission. Gareth squint his eyes at Eddie, a bit sceptical. "Uh, I'd say you're crazy. No one can get inside the temple without combusting on fire! ... or whatever, I'm not exactly sure what happens to those who try to get in" Gareth rubbed his chin as he sat in a chair near his desk. Eddie rolled his eyes and sat up slowly. "You just get a slap on the wrist, but while uh- fooling around I found another way to enter the temple, a super-secret way." he chuckles softly, he reached into his vest and pulled out a rolled-up map, "Guess who stole this from the library, from the closed off section" he grins softly.

Gareth eyes widened a bit and scooted his chair across his wooden floor to get to Eddie. "What?! Are you out of your mind? dude if you get caught with this then, will both be dead!" before Gareth could say another world Eddie used the end of his tail to shut him up. Eddie grins and held up the map to Gareth. "Then I guess we should keep this to ourselves, hm?" he titled his head a bit, asking if Gareth understood to keep his mouth shut. Gareth just rolled his eyes and pulled Eddie's tail away from his mouth. After, he took the old rolled up map from Eddie. Carefully he opened it and found it was a map of tunnels that travelled underneath the village. "Holy shit, I didn't know there was a system underground..." Gareth was in awe, you could get anywhere with this tunnel system. Eddie got up from Gareth's bed to look over the elf's shoulder. "l heard way back in the day people would use these tunnels to get around safely. You can't hurt what can't be seen" Eddie grins, the smaller elf boy looked up at Eddie, "Wait, these were made way back in the dark times? Jesus that means the tunnels are thousands of years old. They can't be safe to use anymore, I mean what happens if something happens and we get stuck down there? no one will find us." Gareth shoved the map into Eddie's chest and stood up from his chair. Eddie rolled his eyes and walked around Gareth, so he was facing him. "Gareth, come on. you know I wouldn't let anything happen to you, besides aren't you just a little bit curious?" Eddie said with a smile, he held up the map once more so Gareth could see it again. "Everyone will be too busy to notice us."

Gareth crossed his arms as he stopped to think about it, being the stupid young adult that he was he tried to make it work in his head. "Well, I always did want to know what the temple looked like on the inside." he mumbled softly, Eddie grinned knowing he pulled Gareth to the dark side. Using his tail, he wrapped it around Gareth's waist gently, pulling him close. Gareth squeaked a bit and looked up at Eddie. "What if we get caught? there's no doubt we'll be thrown in the cellar! I'm too soft for jail..." Gareth mumbles softly, Eddie just laughed at Gareth and held his shoulders. "Relax, will be in and out. all we're going to is look, what could go wrong?" Even with the comfort from the demon Gareth felt something bad building up in his gut. Eddie has always gotten them into trouble in the past but, with a smile and a pat on the back Gareth seemed to grow less scared. Like Eddie said, what could go wrong?
