Chapter Text
Ranboo was no different from being different. He wasn't like his brothers or father who were cold and killed for fun, he had no intention of becoming a sadistic monster like them.
Ranboo was kind. At least the kindest vampire their friend Tubbo knew. He always said that there was something unique about him, something that made him feel safe. Ranboo called him crazy when he first told him that. Ranboo was a vampire, his mother programmed his DNA to make him violent and a serial murderer, biting his victims and draining them of their blood, leaving them to die and be found the next morning or afternoon when people noticed the lack of their presence at an outing or a work meeting. He was programmed to kill innocent people daily
Ranboo never did do that though. He didn't want to be like his older brothers Techno and Wilbur. They made it a game. No, Ranboo never killed anyone. He only drank human blood once when he first turned, he was sixteen and three months old then. He was now five hundred and fifteen, sixteen in a few months.
Techno always told him he would die because his body was meant to have a "human" diet. Animal blood was easier though and didn't involve killing someone. his five-hundred-year-old record would go on strong.
Ranboo carefully made his way through the apartment, his quiet footsteps barely catching his ears. He was just about to open the apartment door when Techno appeared leaning on the wall next to him.
"Where are you going?" He asked in his usual cold and emotionless tone. He taped his sharp nails against his forearms waiting for an answer.
"Nowhere" Ranboo mumbled, opening the door about to leave. Techno grabbed his wrist, pulled him back into the apartment, and closed the door with a quick snap.
"Let go of me!" Ranboo snarled, pulling his arm out of Techno’s grasp, only for Techno to grab a hold of it again, stopping him from exiting the small apartment. Again . "Let go of me Techno!" He shouted again, only this time his pointed teeth were poking out from his bottom lip as he glared with vibrant yellow eyes.
"Where are you going?" Techno repeated with the same amount of coldness, just with an added amount of tension to the conversation— if you could call it that.
"I'm just going to go see a friend, let me go," Ranboo pulled his arm back, Techno just gripped onto him tighter, his nails dug into his immortal flesh.
"Who? Tubbo, The werewolf? You shouldn't be talking to him, you know that-" Techno squeezed Ranboo’s wrist tighter, a small bit of Ranboo's blood being drawn out from the crescent shaped markings.
"Why not?" Ranboo interrupted him, still pulling his arm back, pulling on Techno’s nails causing them to scratch him, Ranboo growled and got frustrated because Techno wasn't listening to him and wasn't going to let him go.
"He's a werewolf, Ranboo. You shouldn't be spending time together with it" Techno growled. He acted more like a canine than Tubbo, how was he gonna say anything?
"He's not a 'it' he's still a person, a good one too, he's harmless-"
"He's dangerous," Techno corrected. "That hound could tear us all apart if he wanted to!" Techno cried out.
"And from my knowledge, we can't die. Trust me I've tried" Ranboo huffed trying to rip his arm away from Techno again, bits of memories flashing through his mind.
Techno finally let Ranboo’s arm go. "Just,” he paused. “Be safe," he crossed his arms tightly against his chest. "I'll kill him if he touches you." Techno's eyes turned a dark red as he said that. Ranboo nodded, Tubbo wasn't gonna hurt him. And he wasn't gonna hurt Tubbo. It was their deal.
Ranboo closed the apartment door behind him as he exited it. He ran quickly to their normal meeting spot, an old tree house Tubbo had built in the forest. It held up well above all the swamp. Just a few flies bugged them.
Tubbo was already there when he arrived, sitting comfortably on the mattress he had set up, he was flipping through pages of a book, "Hi" Ranboo smiled from the doorway. Tubbo jumped back startled.
"Oh, my god" Tubbo held his hand to his chest. "You scared the shit out of me. But hi," he laughed.
"Sorry I spooked you. I thought you would know I was here. Doggy powers or whatever" Ranboo plopped down on the bed next to Tubbo.
"1. Never call my abilities doggy powers ever again. I'm not a dog-"
"Could have fooled me" Ranboo jokes, earning a slap upside the head. "Ow'' he mumbled afterwards.
"2. You don't smell like a vampire. Probably has to do with the fact you don't murder people every day" Tubbo set his book aside as he talked with Ranboo.
They talked about lots of things. Tubbo talked about how his younger sister Teagan had already accidentally activated her powers, something about it being a long story and him just basically needing to help her the next full moon.
Ranboo listened to him rant on how annoying Lani was being about the whole thing, apparently, she thought it was cool that Teagan got her super cool wolf powers. Tubbo thought otherwise, saying how he felt like it was a curse to have to change into something murderous every full moon because you accidentally caused someone's life to end, whether it was because you were rough housing and someone hit their head to hard, or in Tubbo’s case he got upset with someone and basically fought the guy to death.
The big take away was that Tubbo thought being a werewolf was a curse, and Ranboo couldn't help but relate to that. He is forced to live thousands and thousands of years all because his mother didn't want to see any of her children die.
They kept talking for another hour or so before Ranboo heard someone coming up the latter, he shushed Tubbo before shutting off the lamp next to them.
"What are you-" Tubbo didn't get to finish his sentence before someone grabbed him, bringing him down to the floor Ranboo stood up quickly grabbing something to hit the stranger with, but he was too late by the time Ranboo had Tubbo’s bat in hands the stranger bit into Tubbo’s neck causing him to scream bloody murder.
Ranboo knocked the guy off, before Ranboo got the chance to kill the guy he smirked at Ranboo, saying in a proud voice "tell Techno that Dream sends his condolences" Ranboo lounged at him, snapping his neck watching as he fell back onto the floor.
He leaned down next to Tubbo; he was alive. And that was good. He was fine! He was gonna be fine! Tubbo flinched when Ranboo hugged him. "It's ok." Ranboo's voice was shaky as he spoke. His brain is heavily aware of the smell of blood coming from Tubbo’s neck.
"It's going to be ok." Ranboo wanted to cry. He didn't know what to do. He didn't want Tubbo to die. Tubbo didn't deserve to die. So, he did the only thing he knew how to do, He bit into his wrist and dripped a few drops of his own blood into Tubbo’s mouth. Tubbo made a face as if he had tasted something horrible and to be fair blood did taste bad, metallic. Like you had just licked a pole or something. Ranboo wiped his tears. He looked over at the dead vampire.
He had killed someone. Maybe not a human. But he killed someone. And he felt.. different. He had never killed someone before. He was just so angry... and he had enjoyed the feeling of having his hands around his neck, feeling the life leave his body..
Was this what his brother's felt when they killed? Ranboo was pulled out of his thoughts when Tubbo coughed. He was gonna be fine. He wasn't gonna die. He wasn't.
Tubbo looked up at Ranboo. But it wasn't a happy or relieved look. He looked. Scared. He sat up and moved away from Ranboo. Did his opinions of Ranboo change? Did he think he was a monster? Something vile? Someone who deserved to be hated.
Ranboo moved towards him saying "what's wrong?" And "are you still hurt?" Ranboo knew that was impossible, his blood was meant to heal him, and it always worked, if he would die with it in his system it would work. He just wouldn't be human after.
"Your- your-"
A monster
"Eyes," Tubbo mumbled. Ranboo whipped his head over to the mirror that was positioned right next to the doorway.
Ranboo reached his hand up to his face. His once gray eyes were now Glowing an iridescent yellow, gold even.
"Why do they look like..." Tubbo drifted off.
Ranboo didn't need Tubbo to finish his sentence. He knew what Tubbo was thinking.
Ranboo’s eyes weren't turning red like they normally did when he was upset or had just gone for a hunt.. they turned yellow like how Tubbo’s did right before he changed into a werewolf.
"That is not supposed to be there" Ranboo mumbled. "They're not supposed to look like that."
Ranboo looked back over at Tubbo. Tubbo looked at Ranboo with wide eyes. "I thought you were a vampire?"
"I am?" Ranboo was questioning his own origin. His mother was a witch. His father was human until she turned him into a vampire. No one in his family was a werewolf. No cousins, not grandparents. All humans or witches.
"This doesn't make sense" Ranboo wanted to cry. What was he? Who was he?
Tubbo crawled closer to Ranboo. Bringing him into a hug. He didn't look as scared anymore, he seemed like he understood what Ranboo was feeling or was sympathizing with him at least.
"It's ok, ran.. we'll figure it out" Tubbo hugged Ranboo tighter. "We're ok"
Ranboo let a few tears escape his eyes. He wasn't supposed to be like this. Why was he so different from his brothers?
---Ranboo's guide to be a bad original vampire: don't eat friends---
Ranboo had been looking for Wilbur. They were supposed to check out this record store that Ranbo thought was cool looking. But Wilbur was nowhere to be seen, not in his room, not in the barn.
Ranboo thought he was probably in the woods or town hunting something. He gave Wilbur the benefit of the doubt and checked the woods first, hoping to find Wilbur hunting down a deer like Ranboo did every day for breakfast, but what Ranboo found was so much worse.
Wilbur was behind their house biting someone's neck, nearly drinking them dry before Ranboo pulled him away from the human.
"Wilbur!" Ranboo shouted. Wilbur growled. "Why'd you do that?" Wilbur huffed.
Ranboo bit down on his own wrist feeding the human some of his blood, not wanting him to die on his family property.
"We talked about this, Wil, you said you were gonna try and not kill anyone, for me!?" Ranboo looked at Wilbur sadly. "you even promised!"
Wilbur chuckled. "I went a week on your animal diet or whatever, cut me some slack. I've only eaten human blood for five hundred years. It's not natural"
Ranboo rolled his eyes. "I've only drunken animal blood for five hundred years. And look at me I'm fine-"
"You're weak," Wilbur corrected. "Brother, If you’re gonna be a part of our family you got to be strong? Techno is strong, Tommy is strong, dad is strong, I'm strong, moms well. Is dead" Wilbur spoke blankly.
"And You’re well. Malnutritionedy or whatever" Wilbur shrugged, a small laugh scratching at the back of his throat. "You're not strong Ranboo"
Ranboo looked away from Wilbur. "You're-" right "-wrong, I'm strong" Ranboo wanted to believe it. Deep down though he didn't.
------
When Ranboo had walked through the apartment's door he was greeted by Tommy, who had his arms crossed while he studied Ranboo.
"Where were you?" Tommy asked. Ranboo looked at him confused. "I was with Tubbo, you know that I heard you listening into me and Techno’s conversation earlier"
Tommy raised an eyebrow. "If you were with Tubbo then why do you smell like that?"
Ranboo looked at Tommy confused. "Smell like what?"
"Like a wolf. But not Tubbo's wolf like a different wolf." Tommy corrected himself, moving his hand in a circular motion. “or whatever”
"There was a vampire who tried killing Tubbo but he's not a wolf?"
"Who tried killing Tubbo?" Wilbur appeared next to tommy scaring both him and Ranboo.
"Jesus Christ, we do scare people by showing up randomly like that,” Ranboo laughed out of breath leaning to the door frame for support.
"Yeah, yeah, Boo-who we scare people, who tried killing Tubbo now?"
Ranboo shrugged. "I don't know. Some guy who has a grudge against Techno-"
"Who, what did they say"
Techno appeared in the room a second later standing on the other side of Tommy, scaring him.
"Holy hell" Tommy mumbled leaning forward resting his hand on his knees.
"I don't know, he said something about you and this other guy" Ranboo shrugged again. He did that a lot now. He blamed Tubbo for it.
"What did he say Ranboo." Techno glared at Wilbur who was looking at Ranboo funny.
"Uh something about how Dream sends you condolences, which was before I killed him and healed Tubbo speaking of-"
"Who's Dream?" Tommy interrupted Ranboo.
"He was one of Technos best friend’s, well before he turned him and back stabbed him. That's why Techno doesn't have any friends anymore" Wilbur whispered to Tommy laughing.
"Shut up Wil. At least I don't screw all my friends. Having none is probably better than doing that" Techno glared at him.
"Hey, no fair that was one time, and me and her were hardly just friends, if you know what I mean" Tommy elbowed Wilbur in the ribs causing Wilbur to elbow him back,
"Why did Dream try to kill Tubbo?" Tommy's side was still pained from Wilbur’s jab but he continued on.
Techno sighed, "He wants to get back at me, for killing his family" Techno rolled his eyes as if it wasn't a big deal.
"Since he can't kill me, he wants to make my whole family suffer or some shit. But I have no one he can hurt, Wilbur doesn't give a shit about his friend’s, and Tommy's just lonely."
Techno looked at Ranboo. "You’re the only social butterfly in our family Ranboo" he chuckled.
Ranboo ran his hand down his face. "So now Tubbo is in danger because you decided it was a good idea to seek revenge on someone by killing their family not expecting there to be consequences” Ranboo looked at Techno with the utmost disappointment and disgust.
Techno nodded.
"And you didn't think to warn me"
"To be fair I didn't think you would befriend someone who was mortal-"
"It's lonely being alive for hundreds of years. Of course I wanted friends!" Ranboo groaned, "So, what are we gonna do now! Tubbo isn't safe and you owe me!" he pointed a finger at him.
Techno looked confused "since when?"
"Since I had to kill someone “cause of you"
Techno smiled. "Finally," he clapped his hands. “You’re no longer a murder virgin.”
"Not finally! It made my eyes get all weird, and it was in front of Tubbo! You know how bad that is!" Ranboo shouted.
"Dude. Your eyes are supposed to do that, All our eyes go all weird red or whatever" tommy laughed.
"My eyes used to go red, now they go yellow. That ain't normal tommy" Ranboo was getting upset.
Why did he get stuck with such a stupid set of brothers.
"Oh. Mine never have done that. I've only seen w-” Tommy paused. "Uh"
"My eyes are doing it again ain't they" Ranboo sighed, running his hands over his eyes, a low groan escaping his throat as he whined.
"Yup. That's definitely weird." Wilbur mumbled. Wilbur looked at Ranboo confused and concerned. "I've only seen werewolves' eyes do that. Like after they do their changey thing, when they turn back to human."
Tommy stepped closer to Ranboo admiring Ranboo’s eyes.
"But I'm not a wolf am I?" his voice was slick with venom, he was getting sick of people giving him ideas that didn’t make any since,
They all went quiet.
"I'm not right? Dad's not a werewolf, mom was a witch!" He shouted.
Techno looked at Wilbur mouthing something Ranboo couldn't understand.
"Ranboo, your mom-"
Everyone jumped from the sudden sound of their father's voice. Philza shook his head trying to continue only for Tommy to interrupt him before he got a word out.
"Why hello Philza Minecraft" Tommy laughed.
Phil ignored him, continuing to talk to Ranboo.
"Ranboo. Your mom and I.." Phil paused, sighed and continued.
"After your mom had Wilbur we had a hard time. She started being distant and I started having my suspicions about her maybe..” Philza smiled sadly. "And then you were born.. and you looked nothing like me. you had gray eyes, black hair, tanner skin.." Phil looked Ranboo in the eyes. "You didn't look like my other sons."
"So, I asked your mom. And." Philza looked away from Ranboo and to the floor having no more courage or strength to look at his bastard son. "Biologically Ranboo I'm not your father."
There was no "sugar coating" that.
"Oh.. oh." Ranboo mumbled. "Then who is?" Ranboo felt his fists squeeze together as he forced himself to stay in the room and not storm off like a teenager who didn't get their way.
Philza shrugged. "I don't know. I didn't ask that much, just a simple yes or no."
Ranboo nodded and headed to his room. This was too much to think about right now, he couldn't be in that room. Not with them. Not with the people he thought were his family only for them to not be. It was too much. Half of his life was a lie and Ranboo didn't know it.
The next day Ranboo laid in bed for hours. He didn't get up to go for a quick hunt, or to see what Tommy had dropped and inevitably broke a few hours before, he didn't wake up when he heard a knock on the front door a few minutes ago, he didn't care that he heard a few hushed whispers, and he didn't care when hisroom door was opened.
He didn't care when someone crawled into bed next to him, pausing there for a moment before moving again. He did open his eyes when he felt someone lay next to him, jumping up when he felt them.
Ranboo wasn't less alarmed than before when he saw Tubbo lying next to him sadly smiling at him.
"What are you doing here? When did you get here, does Techno Know you're here? He's gonna kill you if he doesn’t-'' Tubbo ignored Ranboo.
"Your eyes are doing that thing again."
Ranboo looked towards the mirror he had smashed the day before. Ranboo groaned.
"I don’t know what's wrong with me" he laid back down in the bed next to Tubbo who had somehow figured out where he lived- he never told him the address-
Doggy powers probably, hellhound or something with an even better sense of smell.
"Maybe you’re a werewolf." Tubbo half shrugged, one shoulder being
"But I'm a vampire." Ranboo huffed, lifting his lip to show a pointed canine with the tip of his thumb.
"You could be both, that's possible right?"
Ranboo stayed quiet.
Anything’s possible right. He didn't even know who his father was. And he's probably long dead by now.
"I don't know everything you're feeling right now Ran. But you're probably scared?"
Ranboo nodded.
That was an understatement; he was terrified. He didn't know what was going on. He had no control of anything.
"When I first, y'know, got my abilities I was freaking out. My eyes would get all glowy and I had long teeth when I got angry. Don't even get me started on my first full moon." Tubbo laughed halfheartedly, "My dad had to calm me down, tell me it was normal. For my family at least. And that he could help me."
Tubbo played with the ring on his finger. "He had my aunt, who's this powerful witch, make Me this ring. So, after my first full moon I wouldn't have to deal with changing anymore." Tubbo bite the inside of his cheek.
"Sometimes I don't use it though. Because when I'm the wolf. I feel connected to something somehow. I don’t know." Tubbo laughed. "It's silly because, I go through all the pain from shifting just to run around in the woods all night"
Ranboo listened to Tubbo. For a while he went off track a lot but Ranboo appreciated what he was trying to do.
"So. What I'm trying to say, or what I tried to say. You're not alone, I can help you. I don't know how it will work with you being a vampire and all, but I can try. I will try Ranboo."
Ranboo hugged Tubbo to his chest, startling the younger with the quick movement. He did ease up after a while.
“Thank you. For wanting to help me.” Ranboo wanted to cry again. He still didn’t understand why he wanted to cry so much now.
“No problem boss man. Maybe tomorrow we can see if my aunt knows anything about vampire wolf stuff.”
Ranboo nodded, still holding onto Tubbo. At one point he fell asleep, Tubbo had been playing with his hair when there was a knock on the door. They both stayed where they were not really caring if Tommy and techno had started to rough house and wanted allies.
But despite not answering them, Techno still walked through the door.
“Is he ok?” Techno asked, leaning on the door frame. His voice was a whisper and actually sounded worried. Tubbo shrugged the best he could.
“He’s taking it better than I would. I just can’t believe you kept it from him. ” Tubbo smiled softly at Ranboo, brushing bits of hair out of Ranboo's face. Techno shifted his weight on each of his feet for a moment. “We weren't sure if it was true or not.” Techno mumbled.
“You still should have told him.”
Techno sighed. “I know.” Techno watched as Tubbo draped his arm over Ranboo, and Ranboo snuggled into his side still asleep. “I just didn’t think he would handle it well.” Techno mumbled. “and I was right.” Techno leaned his head to the side slightly and stifled a laugh before turning back to Tubbo. “Hey, will you do me a favor?” Techno crossed his arms standing up straight.
Tubbo nodded.
"I trust you. Even if,” Techno sighed. "Even if I seem skeptical or whatever. I do trust you Tubbo. So please don’t change that. And I know that I Can't protect him forever so make sure he’s safe, alright?" Techno smiled at his little brother before walking out of the room, closing the door behind him.
---Ranboo's guide to be a bad original vampire: heal your prey---
"What the hell, Tommy!" Ranboo screeched. Ranboo had found Tommy biting into another human in the house.
"Why did you bring her inside! Are you insane? Don't answer that, I don't want to know" Ranboo rambled as he got the girl away from Tommy, biting into his wrist to give the girl some of his own blood so she wouldn't bleed out and die on the century old rug in the living room, Tommy laughed as he cleaned blood off his mouth.
"Jeez man. It's just a human, it's not like I knew her,” Tommy propped himself up on the couch that was now stained.
"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" Ranboo scoffed.
"You were never here" Ranboo was using his weird eye, memory wiping power on the girl.
"You know that might not work. With you not drinking human blood or whatever. Makes you weaker.” Tommy chuckled as the girl walked out of the house.
"You spend too much time with Wilbur- and this! Is why no girl is ever gonna like you. You kill them!" Ranboo huffed.
"Your logic is flawed but I respect it."
After about three hours there was a knock on the door, Ranboo answered it, finding the girl from before. She looked like she had gotten into a car accident with the amount of blood she had on her face, and bits of glass stuck in her face.
"What did you do to me?!" She yelled.
She was hyperventilating as she walked into the house.
Ranboo closed the door behind her quickly. "Shit- uh. Are you still alive?" Ranboo raised an eyebrow.
Please, please, please tell me she's not turning
"What kind of questions is that of course I'm alive? What kind of question is that!"
"A question uh- what are you feeling right now? Headache? Dizziness, the overwhelming urge to drink someone's blood?"
The girl looked at Ranboo like he was crazy. "What-" The girl thought for a while.
"Just answer the question!" Ranboo shouted, scaring the girl.
"YES! But I shouldn't be so what did you and your friend do to me!" The girl looked like she was about to start crying.
"Tommy, get out here I need your help!" Ranboo shouted towards Tommy's room.
Tommy appears a second.
"What do you need, big brother? Money, advice, finally cave and decide I was a good role model despite our age difference?"
Ranboo rolled his eyes. "Yeah right- we have a situation"
Tommy looked at the girl and back at Ranboo. "What situation"
"She's turning tommy! I turned a human! Having five vampires in this city was already a lot, now there's gonna be six"
Ranboo pressed a hand against his forehead. "How do I get myself in these situations"
Tommy shrugged. "You could just kill her?" Tommy propped his chin up on his hand.
"I can't kill an innocent person." Ranboo huffed.
"She won't be an innocent person for long. She'll cave and kill someone” Tommy swayed his body back and forth clearly bored of this conversation.
"No. I'm not killing her. I'll figure something out"
The girl looked back and forth between them confused out of her mind.
"Fine. I'll kill her"
Before Ranboo got the chance to stop him Tommy already pulled this girl’s heart from her chest, the life leaving her eyes as she fell to her knees, one last gasp of air leaving her chest as she collapsed.
"I'll never get used to that feeling" Tommy shivered before dropping the heart onto the floor, wiping the blood from his hand onto his jeans.
"You're cleaning that up." Tommy smirked and walked away.
"How do I get myself in these situations?" Ranboo repeated,
------
The next day Tubbo took Ranboo into town to find his aunt Niki. Apparently she was an expert on all things werewolves so Tubbo thought she must know something.
Tubbo had been dragging Ranboo around town trying to find her shop, he claimed they weren't lost but Ranboo thought otherwise.
"Tubbo, just admit it we're definitely lost" Tubbo grabbed Ranboo’s hand and started pulling him through town again. "We're not lost,"
Ranboo tripped over his feet a couple of times, Tubbo still not stopping.
"Maybe we should ask someone, maybe they know where it is-"
Tubbo groaned. "I've never been to her shop, I just had her come to my home. Ah I should have come here sooner" Tubbo let go of Ranboo’s hand stopping where he was. He looked around for a second.
"And now we're-"
"Are you guys lost?" A man with ginger hair asked,
"Yes, do you know where Niki’s bakery is?" Tubbo lit up with hope. Maybe they weren’t gonna be wandering around town all night trying to find a singular building.
"Bakery?" Ranboo mumbled.
"Uh yeah! It's on the corner of Logstedshire and L’manburg Ave" the stranger chuckled. "Oh, and tell her Fundy says hello, haven't seen her in a few days" he smiled.
Tubbo nodded. "Well do, but we have to go, so enjoy the rest of your day!"
Tubbo grabbed Ranboo’s hand and started pulling them to where the man directed them.
When they came inside Niki was working at the cash register, she was handing a woman a box with a set of cupcakes in it when they walked in.
When she saw them she reached over the counter and shouted “I need to close early, sorry! Come back another day please!” people shuffled by the two, a few complaining about the minor Inconvenience causing them to Not be able to get their favorite cakes and pies today.
Niki slammed the bakery door closed after flipping the open sign to a sign that had bold red letters stating closed.
"Tubbo! Why did you bring a vampire into my bakery! Especially an original!?" She played with a Crystal that was attached onto a leather cord. Niki looked like she wanted to cry and rip Tubbo apart.
"How did you know I was a vampire? I don't look like one?" Ranboo was confused. All he had on was a simple hoodie and jeans. And there were no blood stains on anything this time.
"I'm a witch I know when something supernatural, and Tubbo is that stupid sometimes," Niki glared at the brunet.
"Hey! Ranboo's is a nice one, at least I didn't bring one of his brothers around. They don't even like me,” Tubbo huffed.
"Tubbo- never mind, what do you want" Niki huffed.
"Uh we need you help with wolf stuff"
Niki looked at Ranboo and then Tubbo. "What kind of wolf stuff?" Niki eyed Ranboo suspiciously.
"Do you know anything about hybrids?"
Niki looked at Tubbo confused.
"Not really? Why" Niki crossed her arms.
"Uh well. Ranboo is sorta a vampire uh..."
Niki was confused again.
"He's a werewolf.. too"
Niki's mouth fell open. "How in the world-" Niki shook her head.
"Anything’s possible I guess," she laughed.
"I don't know much about hybrids, other than they're very rare. But I have a friend who does. She knows all sorts about weird supernatural stuff. But she specializes in things like wolves and witch hybrids or whatever" she bit the inside of her cheek like she was withholding some type of information from the two but Ranboo didn't ask about it and neither did Tubbo.
Niki shrugged, "I could give you her address, just be warned. She's, eh loud? I'm not sure how to explain it" she laughed before pulling out a notebook and writing down a few words before handing the paper to Tubbo, still wary of Ranboo.
"Thank you Niki," Tubbo smiled.
Niki smiled at Ranboo. "You're definitely not like your brothers,"
"Thank- thank you?"
Niki nodded.
"Now leave. I want to re-open my bakery."
Tubbo laughed "Alright Ms.Baker"
Tubbo and Ranboo said goodbye to Niki before leaving her bakery to find this mysterious friend of hers, they used Tubbo’s cell phone and Google maps to find the house, Ranboo mumbled something about how they should’ve done that last time instead of looking like complete fools earlier when Tubbo suggested it.
The maps lead them to a small dungy apartment complex, Tubbo shrugged.
"If I get murdered I'll say hello to God for you"
"Hopefully, you won't have to do that" Ranboo chuckled as Tubbo pressed the button that supposedly alerted the tenant inside of their presence.
After a few minutes they heard a few things fall downstairs and a screech after something tumbled.
But despite the loud concerning sounds of a struggle a woman with freshly dyed purple hair opened the door.
"What do you want? I'm in the middle of something" she motioned to her still soaking wet hair that was dripping down her shoulders, surely staining them purple later.
"Sorry, Niki told us you could help us with something?"
The woman looked at Ranboo then back at Tubbo.
"Niki sent you. Wow, maybe I finally know something she doesn’t” the woman smiled and pumped her fist in the air "yes!" She shouted. "I'm not as dumb as Schlatt says I am" she laughed.
"Anyways, come in come in, ignore the fact that I'm currently turning purple" she once again motioned to her hair.
Tubbo and Ranboo followed the stranger up the stairs to her apartment.
It was small, but that was probably from the assortment of strange items such as a fully blown-up unicorn costume.
"Alright who are you guys and what exactly do y'all want from me?" She sat down on the soft brown sofa that was pushed against a wall decorated with all sorts of patterns, dragons, snakes, fish and even some mystical creature neither of the two had ever seen before.
"Well, I'm Tubbo, this tall vampire thing is Ranboo". he waved towards the woman. He wanted to shrink into a box, packaged and sent back across the ocean so he could jump into the Grand Canyon and never be seen again but he couldn't do that right now.
"I welcomed a vampire into my home" the woman's voice was high pitched. "That's great." Her eye twitched.
"I promise I have no interest in coming back here and killing you" Ranboo reassured,
"How do I know that?" she raised an eyebrow.
Tubbo sat down on the floor leaving Ranboo standing.
"Uh- I only drink hu- animal blood- I've never eaten- drunken human blood before- after I changed anyways"
The woman nodded, still skeptical of Ranboo.
"Well, I'm Minx. And you never said why you need my help but not Niki’s"
"Well, Ranboo you see, has this small problem" tubbo made a hand gesture with his fingers showing something shrinking.
"Uh I don't think I can help with what you are saying" Minx looked at the two boys.
"No, no, no not that!" Ranboo shouted voice going high-pitched just like how Minx's had.
Minx nodded listening to Tubbo once again, resting her elbows on her knees.
"Ranboo seems to be of a hybrid of some sort just..."
"We don't know how that could be possible" Ranboo dug his nails into his palm behind his back. He could feel the skin breaking and then healing again.
"Why couldn't Niki help you? She's a hybrid?" Minx laughed.
"Don't know, she just said you could help us." Tubbo shrugged a confused look on his face for a second. "So can you help him or not?"
Minx hummed. "Depends on what you are asking for. I can't change who you are, but I can help you find out who and what made you the way you are,” Minx smiled softly at Ranboo.
"Right of course" Ranboo mumbled, wishing that wasn't the case. He just wanted to go back to normal, back to a few weeks ago when he didn't know about his mother, when he and Tubbo were just hanging out in the old tree house hidden in the woods, enjoying the friendly conversations. But that wasn't going to happen, now was it?
"Are you able to figure out who my dad is?" Ranboo started to wonder if there was a chance his father was still alive. Though deep down he knew the chances of that were low.
Minx smiled and nodded. "That's my specialty. You have no idea how many people ask for me to find out who their father is. Honestly, I didn't think that there could be so many people who were fatherless”
Minx brought out a tray of items, some sort of dried plant Ranboo never heard of and a liquid that smelled terrible when Minx poured it onto the tray.
Minx took Ranboo’s hand and pricked his finger drawing blood from the small wound. She had to do it a few times when the finger healed itself.
When she finally was down she looked at the two.
"I've never done this with a vampire, so I don't know how it's gonna work ok."
Ranboo nodded. Still hoping for the best.
Minx said a set of words that sounded like some sort of Latin over and over again, while doing so the puddle of liquid spread over top of the tray as it started to spell out a name along with a face.
When Minx was done she turned the tray toward Ranboo.
Ranboo stared at it for a while; he recognized it as the man who lived in the same town as his family all those years ago before he was a vampire.
He remembered when he would come around and give his mother gifts around holidays. He was a well-known werewolf. He was the "alpha" of the clan if you will.
Ranboo pressed his lips together into a fine line and nodded, "Thank you" Ranboo stood up and headed for the door quickly. Tubbo followed suit after saying a second thank you to Minx.
"Wait, wait, where are you going?" Tubbo shouted after Ranboo when they exited the complex.
"I'm going to go find my family" Ranboo wanted to cry. But he couldn't. He didn't know these people; they were hardly his family.
"Be safe.." Tubbo mumbled before Ranboo disappeared in thin air leaving Tubbo alone.
---Ranboo’s guide to be a good bad original vampire: ask questions---
Ranboo smiled up at his mother, her dark hair complimenting her rosy cheeks.
"guess what today is Mama!" Ranboo shouted as he jumped up into his mother's arms hugging her tightly.
"Oh no, I must have forgotten what day it is ran. You must remind me" she brushed some of Ranboo’s hair out of his face, he would be needing a trim soon.
"It's my birthday Mama! How could you forget my favorite day!" Ranboo gasped, offended by her choice of words.
"I'm so sorry baby, I'll never forget your birthday ever again!" She smiled and pressed her nose into his cheek.
There was a knock on the door and Ranboo’s mother gently put Ranboo back on the ground.
"I'll be right back ok"
Ranboo nodded but followed her to the door, hiding behind the shelf that held all their firewood for the winter. He heard his mom open the door and started whispering to someone. Ranboo could only make out a few words.
"What are you doing here --- You know you can't be here Not when ----- home"
The man hummed. "But it’s my --- birthday. He's five -----. Just. Give This to ------" the man answered back.
Ranboo was confused but walked back to the kitchen waiting for his mom to come back.
When she did she was holding a small box.
"Who was the man at the door? Why do you have a box?" Ranboo asked quickly.
Ranboo's mom smiled. "It's a present. Someone left it here for you?"
"Who was that man mama"
"No one. Just open your present Ran"
And Ranboo did, he found a necklace with a crescent moon engraved into the metal. It was attached to a thin leather cord, it must have been homemade, there were slight Groves in places where there weren't meant to be any.
Ranboo smiled seeing it.
"It's really pretty" Ranboo mumbled, pulling it over his head, careful not to get his hair caught in it.
Ranboo’s mom hummed. "It's just as pretty as you my dear," she brushed her thumb over his cheek.
-----
Ranboo held his necklace in his hand, thumbing over the engraving. He had replaced the leather string with a metal chain after it broke, and he nearly lost it. He still had the leather somewhere in his room. Maybe he could figure out how to fix it one day.
Ranboo was headed to a graveyard. It had been here since the day Ranboo was born so he was sure if he were gonna find any trace of his father it would be here with all the five-hundred-year-old skeletons.
Ranboo looked at all the individual headstones before looking for a family crypt.
When he finally found it he stared at the name that was carved into the white stone.
Beloved
Had a nice ring to it, Ranboo Beloved.
Ranboo Minecraft was a little weird to say expertly after Tommy compelled some guy to name a popular game after their family.
Ranboo looked over the names. Until he found it.
It was eroded a lot and he could barely make out its name from the junk stuck in between the letters but there it was.
Fin Beloved, loving father, and brother.
Did Ranboo have brothers and sisters, and even cousins he didn't know about?
He probably would never know the answer to that.
Ranboo pressed his back against the stone.
At least he knows now right
Ranboo got home late that night. Though today Techno didn't pester him about it. He didn’t even seem to be home.
He went to the kitchen to find a bag of animal blood, but he got distracted by a sticky note that wrote "Be back soon have to kick a vampire's ass really quick, Techno"
Ranboo laughed. Ranboo would feel sorry for the poor guy who was seeking revenge on Techno at the moment but after he sent someone to kill Tubbo, he couldn't bring himself to care if Techno killed one more person.

Chapter Text
Ranboo woke up the next afternoon, eyes puffy from crying. He didn't know why he started crying. He just did and then he couldn't stop.
Why did nothing in his life go normally? Why did life just disappoint him at every corner?
It wasn't fair. But Ranboo thought he deserved it, all of it, every mortal human he got attached to dying or one of his brothers stabbing him in the back literally or figuratively.
Ranboo stood up and headed to the bathroom, flicking on the light and gasping when he saw his reflection. He once again had bright yellow eyes. He was never gonna get used to that.
Ranboo washed his face trying to get the weird color to go away, but it didn't. So, he waited. One, two, and three hours went by and Ranboo still had yellow eyes. He wasn't supposed to have them. He was supposed to be normal like Tommy and Wil.
Ranboo sighed and opened his phone. He still was trying to figure out how to use the thing. But he clicked on Tubbo’s contact and the cellular device started to call him before he got the chance to cancel it.
Tubbo picked up the phone, "Hello? Is everything ok?"
Ranboo shook his head before he realized Tubbo couldn't see him.
"Uh. No.. yes? I don't know.." Ranboo’s voice was strained and you could tell he was crying before this.
"What's going on? Talk to me?"
Ranboo wiped his eyes, "my eyes, they won't-- they-- they're still yellow.." Ranboo huffed, resting his head on his palm.
"Why can't I just be like my brothers?" Ranboo asked before Tubbo had the chance to reply.
"I don’t know. I know it's not fair that you’re different but it's ok Ranboo. It will be ok I promise."
"Promise?" Ranboo repeated.
"Yes, I promise," Tubbo smiled.
Ranboo turned his phone on speaker before turning on his camera. He propped the phone up on the coffee table while he sat on the floor.
Tubbo did the same with his camera but Ranboo could tell he was still in bed.
"What's up with my emotions too? Like I can't stop crying." Ranboo laid his head on the coffee table. He felt tears waiting to bubble out of his eyes at any moment.
"That's part of being a werewolf. All your emotions and senses are heightened, just like vampires. so with you being both you're like a toddler that's ready for their next melt down.``
Ranboo pressed his lips together. Tubbo was right and it made sense. His emotions were all wacked because he was a mix of the two most emotional beings on this planet, to his knowledge anyways.
"How did you deal with it? When you first found out" Ranboo laid his arm underneath his head as he listened to and watched Tubbo speak.
"Well, it was kinda easy for me, but that's because I knew what I was inside and out. But I still struggled. My mom was a werewolf, and she passed away before I... changed I guess that's the right word."
Tubbo sighed.
"So, I was on my own, with good old Google on my side, though my dad did help me sometimes..he wasn't the best at it but he tried, it's the thought that counts right?" Tubbo laughed.
"anyways. I just sorta accepted the fact I couldn’t change what I was and ran with it from there" Tubbo shrugged.
"What if I don't want to accept it. I really don't want to be like this Tubbo"
And there it was. Ranboo felt one. Then two. Then four and six tears ran down his face.
He covered his eyes as he cried.
"I'm never gonna be like my brothers. I'll always be different." Ranboo sobbed
Tubbo tried to comfort Ranboo but Ranboo ended the call before he embarrassed himself In Front of Tubbo anymore.
Ranboo cried for a while wishing and hoping it would just stop. But it didn't, well not until he fell asleep.
Ranboo woke up in the middle of the afternoon, he felt a stinging feeling in his side as he sat up.
He lifted his shirt to find a gash about the size of his hand trying to heal itself but struggling.
Ranboo coughed before turning his attention to where he was. He was in the middle of the woods; how did he get there? Ranboo stood up and looked around him.
There was nothing but woods around him.
What happened?
-----
After about a 5-hour long movie train, Ranboo was walking back home.
But he couldn't shake the feeling he was forgetting something.
But he ignored it and went home.
The next morning it was painfully obvious what he forgot, Ranboo couldn't find his mom's grimoire anywhere, he had lost it.
An Over five-hundred-year-old book gone, lost, forgotten! How could he be so stupid? He let it out of his sight and now he couldn't find it.
He was searching all around his room, but it wasn't here. Where did he have it last? Where did he put it?
Ranboo put his hands in his hair as he looked around the room, it was a mess to say the least. Papers were scattered all across the floor. books thrown on opposite ends of the room, his bed looked like it was trampled by elephants.
"Think Ranboo," he whispered. Where did he have it last? He brought it home last night right? He wouldn't have been so stupid to leave it at-
Ranboo ran out of the house quickly and knocked on Tubbo’s door loudly, moments later a tired Tubbo opened it, rubbing his eyes, and yawning.
"What are you doing here Ranboo?" He stretched his arm before leaning onto the door frame. He most likely had just woken up.
"Did I leave the book I brought over yesterday here?" Ranboo asked quickly, inviting himself to walk inside.
Tubbo yawned again. "Yeah, I put it on the coffee table, it should still be there"
But it wasn't. Ranboo looked underneath the coffee table and around it, but it hadn't fallen either. Ranboo went into the kitchen and couldn't find it there.
Ranboo nibbled on the ends of his nails. "Technos gonna murder me" he whined.
"Calm down, I'm sure one of my sisters just took it to read or something,"
Ranboo wanted to vomit thinking about how messy the girls were, what if they spilt coffee on it? What if they dropped it and it split a few of the pages, what if one of them accidently lit it on fire for God's sake! What if they lost it!
But Ranboo kept his worry to himself as he followed Tubbo up the stairs to Teagan’s room.
Tubbo knocked on the door frame catching Teagan’s attention. "Have you seen a book about this big, really old looking?" Tubbo used hand gestures to make a square. "No? I don't think so. Why?" She raised an eyebrow as she set her own book in her lap.
"Because this one over here lost his." Tubbo chuckled and rolled his eyes.
"It's not funny. Technos are gonna kill me." Ranboo ran his fingers down his face pulling at his eyes.
"He can't if he tries, and you could just bite him." Tubbo shrugged.
"Oh, and where will that get me? Hm I know, death!"
Tubbo laughed. "Maybe, but at least he'll have a week of the worse headache and fever imaginable"
Ranboo scoffed.
Teagan watched as the two bicker like a middle-aged couple having marital problems.
"I think I'm gonna just-" Teagan stood up and closed the door.
Tubbo led Ranboo towards Lani’s room, knocking on the door waiting for his little sister to open it.
Lani swung the door open. "What do you want?" she glared at Tubbo before turning to Ranboo. "Oh, hi Ranboo!" She smiled.
Ranboo waved awkwardly.
"Have you seen a book about the size of a history textbook, but older, anywhere by chance?"
Lani nodded slowly. "Yeah, to one with really creepy spells in it-"
"YES! THAT ONE!" Ranboo shouted, Tubbo covered his ears, he shouted just a wee bit too loud just then in his opinion.
"Jesus Christ I'm gonna go deaf" he mumbles.
"Sorry- where is the book?" Ranboo spoke quickly.
"Uh." Lani paused.
"Lani, Where's the book?" Tubbo glared at her.
"Ha. Uh do you want me to lie. Or tell the truth?" She winced at Tubbo when he growled.
"The truth obviously! Why would we want you to lie!"
"I dunno! Ranboo seems like the sensitive type!" She threw her arms up in the arm.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Ranboo whispered.
"Lani just tell us where the book is!" Tubbo shouted.
"I sold it?" She closed one of her eyes.
"You. Did. What??" Tubbo looked like he was about to set Lani’s whole room on fire by how angry he looked.
"I sold it to some guy on the street, he said he would buy it off me for 500 pounds. Who wouldn't take that offer?" She huffed.
Tubbo put his fingers in-between his eyes, on top of his brow bone.
Ranboo was gonna faint.
"Techno’s gonna kill me" he mumbled before passing out, falling into Tubbo’s arms.
"Now look what you did," Tubbo glared at Lani.
"Hey! It's not my fault he's sensitive!" She shouted.
"You lost his dead mum's grimoire! Of course, he's gonna be upset!" Tubbo shouted.
Ranboo woke up the next afternoon, eyes puffy from crying. He didn't know why he started crying. He just did and then he couldn't stop.

There was nothing but woods around him.
What happened?
---Tubbo’s pov---
Tubbo sighed as he closed his phone.
He wanted to help Ranboo. He just didn't know how. He had no idea what was going on in that thick skull of his.
Tubbo turned towards his window and up at the sky, where the moon typically was.
Speaking of it, there is gonna be a full moon soon. He had to help Teagan and Ranboo with their shifting this time. He didn't even know if it would be the same for Ranboo as it was for Tubbo.
How in the world did he get sucked into this situation?
After about a whole day’s worth of cleaning and chores, Tubbo plopped down on his bed with a sigh.
But Tubbo didn't get much of a break because only about a minute into his short-lived vacation he heard a knock on his window.
Tubbo looked toward him to see Tommy on the windowsill knocking, grinning awkwardly.
"Why are you here" Tubbo huffed as he unlocked the window and pushed up the glass,
"Well, I don't know. Maybe you could tell me. WHY IS MY BROTHER A FUCKING WO-"
Tubbo hushed Tommy. "Shush, or I'll push you out and off my window."
Tommy huffed. "Why is Ranboo a fucking animal?!" Tommy shouted, quieter than last time but loud nonetheless.
"Did you not know?" Tubbo raised an eyebrow.
"Know what?" Tommy was confused.
"Did Techno and Wil really not tell you" Tubbo laughed.
"What! What! What didn't they tell me?" Tommy asked, trying to enter Tubbo’s room only to not be able to by some magical force that prevented his kind from entering a living person's house unwanted.
Tubbo clicked his tongue. "They trusted a werewolf over their little brother," Tubbo giggled. Relishing and bragging about how much Techno and Wilbur trusted him more than Tommy.
Tommy interrupted him. "Will you just tell me why my brother is a wolf and sorta, kinda KILLING THINGS" Tommy shouted again, getting clean to the point this time.
"He's what?" Tubbo’s mouth was wide open, he could swear it was like one of those cartoons where his mouth hit the floor.
"He's killing people Tubbo, that's not the brother I know, so what did you do to him?!" Tommy huffed, nearly falling off the side of Tubbo’s house that time.
Tubbo should really let him in huh? Nah, he would survive the fall anyways.
"He's a fucking were-vampire hybrid Tommy I didn't do anything! And did you try to stop him" Tubbo ran over to his door and quickly shoved his shoes on.
Tommy looked at Tubbo confused, "a what?"
"He can explain later if you ask him. But we need to find him. Now.” Tubbo' glared at Tommy.
"Let me in so I don't have to climb all the way down" Tommy huffed and tried to come inside but was immediately being pushed back.
"Hm. No" Tubbo turned and walked through his house, just as he was about to open the door to leave Teagan spotted him.
"Where are you going?" She asked, crossing her arms.
"Nowhere." Tubbo opened the door to leave.
"Tell me, or I'll tell Mom you're leaving, you'll be late for dinner, she doesn't like when you're late" Teagan said it like it was a play or poem, she was blackmailing him! How could she!
"I'm just going to hang out with a friend-"
"Said friend fell out of a window a few seconds ago" Tommy's voice was pained as he stood just outside the door stretching his arms and back.
"Was that Tommy? Ranboo’s brother” Teagan'' gasped. "How many vampires are you gonna befriend! I swear Mom is right about you ending up one of them"
Tubbo rolled his eyes. "Bye little sister" he mocked a wave before leaving the house, closing the door behind him.
---Ranboo’s vampire guide to be a good bad original vampire: adopt a furry friend---
Ranboo was in the woods hunting like any other night, looking for a deer or small animal he could feast on.
He eventually had his eye on a small buck. His antlers were just starting to grow in for the season.
Ranboo didn't hesitate before tackling the deer down.
He was just about done when he got a glimpse of brown fur in the bushes.
"Hello?" He whispered as he looked over at the bush. A set of yellow eyes were staring at him
The figure slowly stepped out of the bush growling at Ranboo as it approached.
"Uh, I'm just gonna slowly back away now"
Ranboo stood up and slowly backed up.
The very angry wolf kept approaching Ranboo, saliva dripping from the animal’s lips as it snarled and growled at Ranboo.
Ranboo backed up into a tree, the wolf kept getting closer, and closer so Ranboo just sighed and crouched down. The worst that would happen if the wolf killed him is that he might need to regrow a few organs and take a break from hunting for a while.
Ranboo was eye to eye with the wolf, which had stopped but was still growling and threatening Ranboo with his large canines.
"It's ok" Ranboo whispered, he reached a hand out towards the animal only for him to snap his jaw only barely missing Ranboo’s fingers.
"Wow, wow ok, ok,"
Ranboo smiled softly. "I'm not gonna hurt you. I promise"
The wolf stared at Ranboo for a while, it was nerve racking being in front of a wolf. Especially one that looked about ready to kill Ranboo any second now.
Ranboo reached his hand out again this time mumbling "it's ok. I'm not gonna hurt you" as he did so.
The wolf let Ranboo pet the fur on top of its head and ears, starting to relax. The wolf sat down in front of Ranboo letting Ranboo pet him,
"See, I'm not so bad" Ranboo pulled his hand back once the wolf was laid down in front of him, one hundred percent more relaxed than he was moments ago.
Little did he know that he and the wolf would be great friends in the coming days.
----
Ranboo held his hand to his wound, it was still bleeding a lot, which should’ve been a red flag because normally his wounds would heal in a matter of seconds. But Ranboo brushed it off because it was deeper than his usual wounds.
Ranboo walked out of the woods and into town.
The streets seemed emptier than usual but Ranboo once again thought nothing of it, it was a hotter day than usual so maybe dehydration and heat exhaustion were taking a toll on the city.
But what caught Ranboo’s attention the most was a television in a storefront window.
There was a woman on the screen reporting a wild animal attack.
"There has been an estimated 12 casualties as of now, but many more have had severe and possibly life-threatening injuries. We warn all of you to stay inside with your doors and windows locked. No one knows what this beast is capable of"
The woman spoke clearly into the microphone, a red ribbon repeating what she was saying.
There was a pause as a man interrupted the woman.
"I have gotten news that the beast is a large wolf, and has been injured, but has run into the woods somewhere so we are advising everyone to stay out of the woods for the time being"
Ranboo eyed the wound on his side. It was just a coincidence...
Then Ranboo saw his reflection.
His mouth was covered in blood and his eyes were glowing the familiar yellow.
Ranboo ran. He ran as fast as he could, he didn't want to be seen like this. What had happened? What did he do?
What did he do!?!
-------
"Where is Ranboo Tommy?" Tubbo asked, looking around, there was no one in the streets, but that made sense, they had seen the news.
"They said he ran into the woods, but if I gave a guess where my brother was headed I would say our old home. He used to go there when he got upset about something"
Tubbo nodded.
"We need to find him, now." Tubbo followed Tommy, their old home was just outside of the woods apparently, but it wasn't what Tubbo assumed it to be. It was a small farmhouse buzzing with life even though it was abandoned and in ruins.
"Where would he be?" Tubbo asked when he walked through the door spinning around trying to find a place to look first.
"Attic. But be careful this place is falling apart" Tommy warned as he went to look in a different room.
"Ranboo?" Tubbo called out once he climbed up the flimsy ladder.
Tubbo spotted Ranboo in the corner of the dark room.
"Oh. Ranboo," Tubbo sighed.
Ranboo turned to look at Tubbo. He had tried rubbing off all the dried blood off his face, but he had definitely missed parts under his chin and behind his ears.
Ranboo wanted to burst out crying but he couldn't. He just looked at Tubbo, "it was me, wasn't it? The creature that hurt all those people?" Ranboo's voice was quiet.
Tubbo approached him slowly. He sighed and brought his hand to the other’s face, wiping away some of the few bits of dried blood that were still stuck to his cheeks.
Tubbo nodded.
Ranboo’s voice broke. And he whined.
"I tried so hard. I went centuries without hurting a single human. Five hundred years Tubbo. Five. Hundred. Years.." Ranboo's voice was pained. He couldn't believe this. He wasn't a murderer. "And now... I hurt so many people, why is this happening" a few stray tears ran down Ranboo's face.
"I don't know Ranboo. I wish I did. I want to help you but" Tubbo sighed. "I can't" he wiped his own eyes. “I don’t know how”
Ranboo sniffed before opening his arms, Tubbo accepted the embrace, letting Ranboo hold on to him. He was squishing him but Tubbo didn't mind if it was helping Ranboo calm down.
After a while, Tommy came up the ladder finding the two snuggled together almost half asleep in the dusty attic.
"Come on, let's get you home" Tommy patted Ranboo’s shoulder, waking him up.
Tubbo followed the two down the ladder and all the way back to their home.
Ranboo's side hurt like hell, but he ignored it because again, it was supposed to heal, he wasn't used to whatever was causing it to hurt so goddamn much.
When Ranboo was in his room alone with Tubbo he lifted up his shirt, finding the wound still bleeding and starting to look infected.
"That's not good." Ranboo mumbled poking it, wincing in return.
Tubbo lifted Ranboo’s shirt up revealing the whole thing.
"That's looking really bad Bossman. Is it supposed to look like that?" Tubbo poked and prodded at the gash, making Ranboo wince every now and then when he touched it.
"No -ow- it should’ve healed by now"
Tubbo nodded, stepping away from Ranboo and letting him roll his shirt back down.
"We probably should take care of it though, it looks infected" Tubbo headed towards Ranboo's bathroom pulling out the first aid kit they usually used when Tubbo got cut or scraped on something in the woods while the two were out hunting with each other.
Tubbo took out some gauze and antiseptic ointment, as well as some rubbing alcohol.
Tubbo soaked some rubbing alcohol into a piece of gauze for a moment before looking up at Ranboo and telling him, "this might hurt just a little"
With that he pulled Ranboo shirt up and started cleaning the area, Ranboo was clenching his jaw as he felt the burning sensation of the alcohol against his skin.
Tubbo finished that up before applying some of the antiseptic ointment, he finally finished it off by wrapping the wound up with gauze and medical tape.
"That hurt like hell" Ranboo's hand muffled his voice as he yawned.
Ranboo soaked his hands before wiping the blood that was still stuck to his face. He stared at his reflection for a while, all he saw was a monster. A murderer. Something, someone who didn't deserve Tubbo’s respect, and kindness.
He felt sick.
How did it even happen? The last thing he remembered was crying and then passing out from exhaustion.
Ranboo flicked the light off and changed out of his bloodied clothes before giving Tubbo a large t-shirt and sweatpants to wear instead of his jeans and previously worn t-shirt.
Neither of them slept well that night, Tubbo shifting spots on the other end of the bed every hour or so, and Ranboo well. He couldn't sleep, trying to remember what happened.
---Ranboo's vampire guide on how to be a bad original vampire---
Ranboo crouched down next to his best friend as he looked around.
He was screaming for help. But no one came. The loud noises of bombs and gunfire drowned out his voice.
"5up please stay with me. Please" Ranboo was holding his hand on top of the gunshot wound but he was still bleeding.
5up coughed, blood pooling out of his mouth slowly.
Ranboo bit into his wrist and tried to get 5up to drink the bitter liquid.
"Please, I can’t lose you!" Ranboo cried, still holding out his wrist pulling at the wound, not letting it heal.
"No." 5up coughed out. "I'd rather die, then be forced to be alive forever like you Ranboo" 5up whispered, closing his eyes.
Ranboo screamed, gunshots drowning it out.
He was bored. He insisted on the army because he was bored. And he's gotten attached and lost so many people doing it, he couldn’t help but wonder if 5up would’ve lived if he had not intervened with his life.
----
Ranboo woke up the next morning with a sleeping Tubbo snuggled in his arms.
Ranboo smiled and brushed some of his hair out of his face. He looked out the window to see a freshly risen sun outside.
Ranboo smiled and hugged Tubbo tighter, but was still careful not to wake him.
Eventually Tubbo did wake up rubbing his eye and yawning asking if he wanted to go eat something,
Ranboo squeezed Tubbo one more time before standing up. He offered his hand to Tubbo, “I’ll force Techno to make us some eggs”
Tubbo snorted as he stood up next to him. “Do you even eat?” Tubbo asked, raising an eyebrow. “Well yeah, I just opt for the liquid diet,” Ranboo smiled and pulled Tubbo through the house looking for Techno, eventually finding him sitting in his room reading some war book.
“Techno?” Ranboo whispered in the doorway. Techno ignored him. “Techno” Ranboo asked again, dragging out the o this time. Techno flipped the page of his book ignoring Ranboo again.
Ranboo looked over at Tubbo and smirked, “Techno! Technoblade! Techie?!” Ranboo shouted. Techno finally turned towards Ranboo.
“Firstly, Never call me that again, and secondly, what do you want?”
Ranboo laughed, “I used to call you that when I was younger, and you liked it” Techno shook his head.
“you were seven, you’re like what four hundred or something?” Techno scoffed.
“five hundred and fifteen, sixteen in a few weeks.” Ranboo corrected, throwing his hand up. “and I want you to use your fancy cooking skills to make me and Tubbo eggs.”
Techno groaned. “Fine. I haven’t cooked in a while anyways” he huffed and stood up, walking into the kitchen with the two following behind him.
Ranboo eyed the note on the kitchen counter. “When did you get back? Did you take care of what you needed to?” Ranboo watched as Techno took a few eggs out of the fridge while Tubbo and him took a seat at the counter.
“I got back a little while ago.” Techno shrugged. “I sent someone after dream for now, hopefully they’ll take care of it. If they don't do well, I’ll have to kill Dream myself won’t I?” Techno cracked an egg in the frying pan before turning the stove on.
“Hm. What did Dream even do to get on your bad side anyways? If you told me, I definitely forgot” Ranboo chuckled, Tubbo leaned into Ranboo to whisper
“Who’s Dream” before sitting back straight.
“I dunno, I forgot”
Tubbo shook his head as he listened to Techno.
“Anyways before you two interrupted me- before I even started may I add- Dream and I used to be really close.” Techno shrugged.
“Ranboo, you remember the teen to whom I basically taught everything I knew?” Techno started to scramble the eggs in the pan.
“Yeah. Clay was it? Blond, that’s really all I remember” scrunching up his nose trying to think of more to say, “Green eyes too maybe.”
Techno chuckled. “I thought Phil would be the first to start losing his memory”
Ranboo scoffed. “That’s not the point, what about Clay? What does he have to do with Dream?”
Techno put the first set of cooked eggs on a plate handing them to Tubbo.
“He has everything to do with Dream” Techno started to make the second batch of scrambled eggs. “He’s Dream,”
Ranboo raised an eyebrow. “I still don’t understand. You didn’t answer my question. What made you two hate each other?”
“Long or short version?”
“Long, I feel like the short one will leave out important details.”
Techno nodded. “Well. Dream found out very, very deadly information about our family, well not me. Or Phil. But everyone else.” Techno pointed the spatula at Ranboo. “He found out how to kill you all.”
Ranboo was way more confused now. “what- that’s impossible” Ranboo put his head in his hands. He’s tried to kill himself before he would just start to breathe again at the bottom of all the lakes, he would regain consciousness after taking a shit ton of pills. He's tried every way, breathing again and again. Alive forever.
But there was a way now?
“There’s this law in nature. Anything that exists, or more specifically can bleed or ooze something, must die somehow.” Techno gave Ranboo his eggs.
“And you see well. You bleed Ranboo.”
“What about you”
Techno took that chance to stab his hand with a fork. Tubbo winced, having a metal fork in the back of your hand must not be comfortable at all.
Techno pulled the fork out, his skin just healing around the wound, no blood, no blue alien ooze, or anything.
“See. I don’t bleed. And neither does Phil, we are truly immortal, y’all though” techno made a click with his tongue “Got the short end of the stick”
This was a lot to talk about. “how- how can we die?”
Tubbo looked at Ranboo for a second trying to hear what Ranboo was thinking. Obviously getting nowhere.
“There was this apple tree. Long time ago, it was outside our house. It was quite small then actually. But if the wood of the tree were to be carved into a stake and stabbed into your heart.” Techno poked Ranboo's chest. “You die. You’re gone”
Ranboo stared for a while. Gone. Was that what Ranboo wanted?
Tubbo looked at Techno. “How did Clay -er- Dream find this out?”
Techno stole some of Ranboo’s eggs eating them.
“Long story short it has to do with our dead mother’s grimoire and him stealing it, finding out how she turned us and blablabla. And trying to use it on me, well until he figured out I couldn’t die.”
Techno laughed. “I ended up burning the tree down and killing his whole family after that”
Tubbo nodded. “I guess that’s fairish”
Ranboo laughed. “Ok, I remember that you said that was the reason he sent someone after Tubbo”
“He did what- “
“tree house, remember?” Ranboo interrupted Tubbo. Tubbo made a shocked face.
“That was your fault!”
Techno stared at Tubbo for a while. “Well, I didn’t expect my brother to go all will and Nelly and go make some friends and then the person I thought was dead, and have been enemies with for decades go and kill him- “
“-what does that even mean?” Ranboo interrupted,
“so, in reality, I was in fact not my fault but someone else’s, it’s kinda hard to pinpoint who”
Ranboo rolled his eyes. “You’re the one who killed his family”
“And you’re the one who wanted to be social for once in your life” Techno huffed, crossing his arms.
“I’m social!” Ranboo huffed, dropping his fork next to his plate and onto the table.
“Yeah, when?” Techno raised an eyebrow; he didn’t believe him to say the least.
“1594, I had a chat with Shakespeare - “
“You talked to Shakespeare? “Tubbo whispered, surprised, maybe amazed.
“1782, asked Benjamin Franklin why he wrote his essay about farting, didn’t get a clear answer- “
“He wrote an essay about farting???”
“1815 talked to the brothers Grimm, Jacob was kinder than Willhelm"
Techno rolled his eyes. “But they weren’t your friends,”
Ranboo was silent for a while. “I’ve had friends over the years, but humans are fragile. They all died,” Ranboo's face didn’t change. He didn’t seem sad, maybe a few decades were enough for him to move on. “and plus, the reason I don’t have many now is, cus they are all strange”
Tubbo snorted. “I guess.”
Ranboo rolled his eyes. “Yeah, also because everyone nowadays is weird and creepy. Especially since Twilight came out. “Oh, Edward’s so cute” or “I would let Edward kill me anyway” people are weird” Ranboo laughed.
Techno left the room after the two started talking about how weird and inaccurate the franchise was.
Tubbo was laughing at a joke Ranboo made about how weird the storyline was as well.
"Are you ok Bossman?" Tubbo asked, Ranboo paused.
"Yeah, why?" He wasn't upset or anything- was his eyes doing the thing again??
"You just were talking about losing friends, which I assume died, earlier but you didn't seem to react to it at all." Tubbo shrugged. "Just wanted to make sure you were ok"
Ranboo nodded. He didn't really think about all the people over the years that he has lost, it was too painful.
They both finished eating their breakfast before Tubbo left Ranboo's home to go back to his own.
Ranboo sat on his bed again, spacing out thinking about everything that has been happening the last few days, how much he has learned and discovered, it was more than everything he has ever had to learn in all his time alive. Well, that’s a lie, he has learned a lot more, he met people nowadays that people only wished they could, and he talked with painters, writers, and politicians from way back. He heard stories no one else has.
But he didn’t even know what he was, maybe that’s why he was scared- not terrified. Because he didn’t know, he had no answers, he had no stories to go off of, no knowledge, nothing.
He was lost and he didn’t have control.
But maybe having something new was good. Or maybe it wasn’t.

Chapter Text
Ranboo held his breath as he knocked on Techno’s bedroom door. A few moments later Techno opened the door, his long hair draped over his shoulder messily. He looked tired, well more tired than he normally did on a daily basis.
“You look like shit” Ranboo whispered.
“Could say the same for you. What do you want.” Techno reached his arm back into his room and taking out a pair of glasses, pushing them onto his face seconds later, (if you asked Ranboo when Techno couldn’t hear him, he would tell you Techno looked like a depressed English professor, who didn’t get his morning coffee)
“Uh. Do you still have Mom’s grimoire?”
Techno looked at Ranboo for a second, “yes.. why?” Techno leaned onto the doorframe.
“I just wanted to look through it, I’ll give it back to you tomorrow”
Techno nodded hesitantly. “Ok, let me grab it”
A few minutes after Techno disappeared into his room he reappeared with an old dusty book, “Be careful with it, it’s a little fragile, but it’s not too bad.” Techno handed Ranboo the book. He sighed, “Please don’t lose it, it’s all I have of Mom.”
Ranboo nodded be for saying “of course, I know how much she meant to you” Ranboo smiled before leaving Techno to do whatever the guy did when no one was watching him.
---Ranboo's vampire guide on how to be a good bad vampire: bring your mom flowers---
Ranboo smiled as his mom set him on the ground. Today they were meant to do their weekly rounds, where they would get food and things they were running low on.
But Ranboo and his mom stopped at a flower shop, a few odd-looking purple flowers catching his eyes.
"Here you are Ran." she smiled, and she put a small allium flower behind his ear as she held the bouquet.
"Can I have another one Mama" Ranboo smiled. She smiled before handing another one to him.
He grinned his usual childish grin, his teeth showed proudly [well, the ones that have grown in any way, he was missing his left canine and reached up for her, she picked him up, “Whatcha doing?” she smiled, “Giving you a flower.” Ranboo mumbled tucking a flower behind her ear moving her hair out of the way.
"Aw, thank you." she smiled, readjusting it as she spun him around.
"I'll cherish it forever and ever" she laughed nuzzling her nose into his cheek causing the younger to burst into a giggle fit.
"I love you mama," Ranboo hugged her tightly.
"I love you too baby" she kissed his forehead before setting him back onto the ground.
The last Ranboo saw of that flower was when she had put it in a glass of water, eventually, it started to wilt.
-----
Ranboo sighed before pressing the doorbell. He played with the ends of the grimoire. Was this a bad idea? It definitely wasn't the best idea, but it was his only idea so he would have to settle for it he guessed.
Minx opened the door and frowned. "You again."
Ranboo waved. "Hi."
Minx shook her head. "Get inside before I change my mind."
Ranboo nodded following minx up into her apartment.
"So, what do you want?" She was in the kitchen grabbing some sort of snack out of one of the cupboards.
"Uh I was wondering if you could do this one spell?" Ranboo opened up the grimoire to the page he had folded the tip of one of the pages making it look like a dog ear.
"Depends." Minx shrugged. "Who's grimoire is that? Did you steal it?" Minx grinned.
"No, it’s my mom's, I'm just borrowing it from my brother"
"Ah, so I can't steal it?" Minx ate a chip from the bag she was holding.
"No! Why would you want to!" Ranboo held the book close to his chest.
"That book has some old spells in there. Probably stuff Niki doesn't even know how to do" Minx shrugged. "It's valuable, costs a pretty penny" she shrugged again.
Ranboo huffed and sat down at the kitchen counter.
"Will you do the spell or not?"
"Well, I have to see it first, idiot," Minx scoffed. "Why is it important anyways"
"It just is, here" Ranboo flipped back to the page pointing to a certain part of the right page.
"Ranboo. That's not a spell it's a curse?" Minx looked up at Ranboo eating another chip.
"Yeah, will you do it?"
Minx sighed. "Ranboo I told you last time I can't change what you are-"
"You’re not, you would just be helping me hide it"
Minx shook her head. "Ranboo this magic always comes with a price, either someone dies, or you die." Minx looked over the curse again. "And you would have to get things, I don't have 'blood of a werewolf' laying around for you." Minx shook her head.
Ranboo hummed. "That might be a problem."
Minx nodded. "Yeah." She closed the book and handed it back to him.
"Come back when you have a spell I can actually do without me having to hurt anyone." She abandoned her chips in the kitchen before she pushed hiM through the apartment up to the door,
Ranboo left the apartment complex. He was walking back home when he got an idea. He shifted his course to Tubbo’s house. Hopefully, he wasn’t gonna waste his time, though he had plenty to spare Ranboo knocked on the door a few times and waited a few minutes
Finally, the door opened but Tubbo wasn’t the one to open the door, Ranboo was surprised by that even though he knew Tubbo didn’t live alone.
“Well hello vamp. What can I do for yuh.” It was Lani. One of Tubbo’s younger siblings.
“Is Tubbo home?” Ranboo asked hiding the grimoire behind his back knowing Lani's history with thievery.
“Yes. I think he’s baking something.” She smelt the air. “He’s definitely burning it though” she shrugged, letting Ranboo in.
“TUBBO YOUR BLOODSUCKER IS HERE,” Lani shouted towards the kitchen; way louder than needed in Ranboo's opinion.
Tubbo appeared in the doorway. “Will you stop calling Ranboo that?” Tubbo scoffed and rolled his eyes, “What do yuh need Ran?” Tubbo smiled.
“could we- “Ranboo twisted his body around when Lani tried peeking behind him. “-go to another room, where there are fewer nosy siblings?”
Tubbo nodded and hummed.
Ranboo tucked the grimoire under his shirt as he followed Tubbo into the kitchen watching as Lani headed back upstairs.
Tubbo sat up on the countertop. “so, what do you need, Bossman?” Tubbo smiled.
Ranboo winced. “Don’t think I’m weird, or crazy ok.” Ranboo pulled the grimoire out from behind him and opened it to the page from before, showing it to Tubbo.
Tubbo frowned. “Wha- Ranboo.” Tubbo sighed. “Is this about the other day?” Tubbo raised an eyebrow waiting for Ranboo's answer.
Ranboo nodded. “partly. I don’t want- “Ranboo stopped himself. He didn’t want to be different? To stand out? No. Yes but that wasn’t it. Overall reason wasn’t to just hide the fact he was different because he would always be, he knew that. but It was deeper than that.
“You don’t want what?”
“To hurt people. I don’t want to hurt you.” Ranboo looked away from Tubbo and away from the book. “And I’m scared of This thing. You saw what I did? How many people have I killed in just a few days of being that?”
Tubbo nodded slowly. “Yeah. But do you know how many people I’ve killed?” Ranboo Shook his head.
“Well, there is the first person you know about, then there were the few campers I killed the first night I turned, then there were the people hunting..” Tubbo counted on his fingers. “and a few more but I don’t remember the stats on those.” Tubbo shrugged. “The point is I’ve killed people, ran a lot of em, and I couldn’t stop it, well not until I got this fancy ring.”
Tubbo held off his black ring that he had placed on his middle finger, Ranboo set the book down on the counter and sat next to Tubbo.
“But anyways, my point is that we’ve both killed people that we didn’t mean to,, it was a really bad accident. But it can be solved without losing yourself.” Tubbo looked over at Ranboo.
“But what if it can’t be controlled.” Ranboo sighed. “it wasn’t a Full moon Tubbo, it was in broad daylight”
Tubbo nodded. “I know.” Tubbo sighed. “but with you being a vampire too it’s probably all wishy-washy”
Ranboo hummed. “I just want it to be controlled.” Ranboo eyed the book.
“You can’t control everything, Ranboo.” Tubbo smiled sadly. “some things just happen, '' Tubbo shrugged.
Ranboo nodded and looked over at the grimoire, he felt the pages calling to him, pleading for him to find another person to cast the curse, to open the pages and release its magic. Ranboo shook his head, escaping his thoughts just as Tubbo started to speak.
“while you’re here, wanna watch a movie?” Tubbo smiled sliding off the counter, “Why not?” Ranboo shrugged, following Tubbo in the living room.
---Ranboo's vampire guide on how to be a bad vampire: be a great brother---
Ranboo smiled as he opened his oldest brother's room door.
He snuck up behind him and shouted "BOO" and ducked before techno got the chance to swing his fist towards him.
"Ranboo! You can't keep on doing that!" Techno tried to catch his breath, clearly surprised by Ranboo's little prank.
Giggles erupted out from Ranboo’s mouth as techno glare at him. "It's not funny" he huffed.
Ranboo shook his head. "But it is!" He laughed. "Your face gets all red and mean," Ranboo smiled.
"Oh, that's it." techno smiled lunging towards Ranboo, tickling his sides causing him to laugh and have a few tears in his eyes.
"Stop! Stop! Techno!" Ranboo laughed. Techno pulled his hands away and pointed a finger at Ranboo. "I don't have a red face"
"Oh, but techie you do! It looks like an apple or one of mama's tomatoes"
Techno smiled and shook his head.
"I do not, your lying"
"Am not!"
"You are!"
"No, I'm not!"
"Yes!"
"No!"
"No!" Techno mocked.
Ranboo smiled, "so you agree?" Techno stared at Ranboo. "No! I-"
Ranboo smiled and put his hands on his waist. "I'm right, you're wrong." Ranboo walked out of techno’s room leaving techno stunned.
"How can a seven-year-old be so mean?" he whispered.

Chapter Text
Ranboo was pacing back and forth as he nibbled on his nails. Mumbling to himself, words that probably formed the sentence “techno’s gonna kill me, techno’s gonna kill me.” If you listen to him over and over again.
“Ranboo it’s gonna be fine, we’ll find the book.” Tubbo sighed, leaning his head on his palm as he watched Ranboo walk back and forth, back and forth.
“Is it though? We don’t even know who she gave the book to!” Ranboo bit too far down on his nail and now it was bleeding Slightly.
“Well, who would want the book?”
Ranboo scoffed. “Anyone who knows anything about witchcraft.”
Tubbo shook his head. “Who would want the book who happens to be blond, have green eyes, and is wearing a suit casualty in the middle of summer?” Tubbo yawned, repeating the discretion of the man lani sold the grimoire to.
Ranboo pressed a thumb to his forehead. “I screwed up,” he mumbled. “I’m gonna have to talk to techno about this” Ranboo's voice started to get high-pitched as he spoke,
“I’m sure he’ll forgive you.”
“Will he thought? I lost out dead mother’s grimoire- which is the only thing he had left of our mom by the way- not only to lani but to dream his rival, the vampire who is trying to get back at him for murdering his whole family.” Ranboo whined. “Techno is gonna kill me. He’s gonna go back in time, find that Apple tree and carve it into a giant stake, and is gonna stab all of me with it” he continued whining and pace, mumbling about how he was gonna be dead by the end of the week.
Ranboo sat on the floor. What choices had led him here?
---Ranboo’s Wilbur’s guide on how to be a good original vampire: be a trashy friend—
Wilbur smiled as he opened Niki’s bakery door, he pulled the human girl forward,
“Niki! Are you here!” He yelled. He heard the sound of pots and pans falling in the back, he assumed that was a yes.
Niki came out of the kitchen looking tired, her long hair draped over her shoulders. It had grown a bit since a few months ago, it was also blonder than pink, as well as her darker hair was starting to grow in now.
“Wilbur what are you- why did you-“ she stammered while raising an eyebrow. “Why did you bring a human in here? Are you crazy?” Niki’s eye darted around at each window before she stepped forwards pulling all the drapes down.
Wilbur laughed. “It’s fine.” Wilbur dragged out the e, he smiled like a madman as he watched Niki panic.
“What if someone saw you? What if you… and I got in terrible because you killed her here.” She scoffed as she looked at Wilbur’s face.
Wilbur rolled his eyes. “Niki,” Wilbur tisked clicking his tongue on the back of his throat as he shook his head. “If you got in any trouble I would have just wished their memory’s away, no harm done” he smiled softly now tucking a strand of his hair behind his ear.
Niki rolled her eyes as she saw the girl smile with adoration in her eyes. “Get her out of here. I don’t care that you have some magical powers, I don’t even want her here.” Niki huffed, crossing her arms across her chest.
Wilbur nodded with a faint frown, “fine.” Wilbur looked the girl in the eyes telling her to leave, go home and forget everything about him and Niki. And so, the girl turned on her heels and left.
Niki scoffed. “One of these days you’re gonna come in here and I’m either gonna have a group of policemen who want to kill that large animal lurking around the town or. I’m gonna have a stake in your heart.”
Wilbur’s eyes widened as she said that but softened when she laughed. “Oh, Niki. My dear friend you, are being dramatic. You should have gone into theater instead of consumer science.” Wilbur smiled and Niki rolled her eyes again. He was changing the subject, though maybe it was better to talk about acting and choreographing dance than murder and death.
Wilbur offered her his hands, “I’m sure you would have loved the musicals, and the dances, oh and the clothes.” Wilbur lolled his head back as he leaned backwards, he sat upright once he started to continue his sentence. “You would have loved the English Renaissance Niki,” Wilbur looked up at her with a smile. “I went to school for it then.” Niki took Wilbur’s hands with a smile.
“You took theater?” Niki smiled amused at this new information, who knew a murderous vampire took theater but then again maybe that’s why Wilbur was such a dramatic.
“Yes Niki I did, I even was in one of Shakespeare’s plays,” he smiled. He spun Niki around starting to waltz. Niki shook her head.
“No, you weren’t, really?” Niki cocked an eyebrow.
Wilbur smiled and dipped Niki down towards the ground before picking her up. “I wasn't in the play, but I did help backstage, costume, and sorts.”
Niki smiled. “So, you made the costumes, it was your fault they were so horrible looking,”
Wilbur scoffed. “Like you could do better, I’m sorry Niki but your designing skills only work on your cakes and other baked goods, and! That was the fashion back then.” Wilbur rolled his eyes,
Niki shook her head. “You’re a bad friend, you know that right?” Niki smiled.
Wilbur smirked. “But I’m your best friend,” Wilbur twirled Niki around.
Niki giggled. “That’s because you’re my only friend.”
Ranboo was pacing back and forth in front of the house, the wood on the porch creaking as he did.
Eventually, the door opened revealing a confused Tommy.
“What are you doing?” He asked, stepping forward and closing the door gently behind him.
Ranboo stopped and grabbed Tommy’s shoulders. “Hi, hi, I’m glad you’re here. I need your help.” Ranboo deadpanned.
Tommy raised an eyebrow. “Yeah ok. And that is?” He asked pushing the Ranboo off and wiping off the sleeves of his sweater as if Ranboo had gotten some sort of dirt on them.
“First, promise me something” Ranboo winced, closing his eyes slightly.
“Yeah? Out with-it king.” Tommy motioned his hands waiting for Ranboo to say something.
“Don’t tell techno, anything.” Tommy nodded slowly. “Ok, what do you need help with?” Tommy raised an eyebrow.
“I lost mom’s grimoire and it somehow managed to get into the hands of techno’s rival via him buying it from the kid who stole it and now I have no idea where it is and techno’s gonna kill me because I promised I wouldn’t lose it.” Ranboo took a deep breath. “Please help me,” Ranboo mumbled, smiling awkwardly.
“What are the chances of me getting killed if I help you get it back and hiding the fact that you lost it.” Tommy shrugged his shoulders.
“Lower if we come back empty-handed.” Ranboo deadpanned, shoving his hands into his pockets.
Tommy nodded hesitatingly, scrunched the bottom half of his face, “Eh. I don’t know..” Tommy drifted off, mind wandering off to who knows where.
Ranboo huffed. “Please, help Tommy, this will be the only thing I ask of you, please.” Ranboo looked at Tommy with a frown.
“Fine.” Tommy huffed. “But you owe me big time.” Tommy poked Ranboo's chest.
“Got it,” Ranboo chuckled, Tommy looked towards the front door.
“So.” Tommy started. “What are we gonna say?” Tommy cocked an eyebrow, “to techno that is, what is your plan or whatever.”
Ranboo sighed dramatically, pulling his hand out of his pocket and running it down his face. “I dunno yet.” He groaned.
“You lost what.” Techno’s eyes widened at Tommy who had blurted out everything the second techno started to question him.
“Tommy! I thought we agreed on saying nothing until we got the book?!” Ranboo shouted, throwing a decorative pillow from the sofa at Tommy hitting him square in the face.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to! Techno’s just… intimidating.” Tommy shared a look with techno.
“I’m right here you know- and what do you mean you lost mom’s book! Ranboo! I thought you said you wouldn’t let it out of your sight!” Techno huffed crossing his arms with a disappointed look on his face as he spoke.
Tommy winced and Ranboo looked around thinking of an answer.
“How I lost it doesn’t really matter does it?” Ranboo chuckled nervously as techno glared at him, “we just need to try to y’know, get it back.”
Techno run a hand through his hair as he looked at Tommy.
“You don’t have anything to do with him losing it right.” Techno sighed.
Tommy shook his head quickly, “no, no, I didn’t even know he lost it or that you even still had it! Ranboo forced me into helping him!” Tommy took a deep breath.
“I did not!” Ranboo screaked. “You agreed to help!” Ranboo threw his hands in the air.
“No! You were the one on the porch pacing back and forth saying how techno was gonna kill us both if I didn’t help you!” Tommy rushed his side of the story.
Ranboo scoffed. “You asked? You were the one suggesting we not tell him!”
Techno sighed, this was quite annoying, wasn’t it?
“No!” Tommy shouted.
“Ranboo, TOMMY WILL YOU SHUT THE HELL UP” techno shouted, his voice probably could be heard from the town square.
Techno pressed his fingers against his nose.
“You both will find the book and bring it back alright, no consequences.” Techno huffed.
“what happens if we-“
“If you don’t bring mom’s book back. I will find a way to kill you, or.” Techno laughed. “Or I will stuff you into a brick wall and let you two rot there for centuries, without giving you a single drop of blood, Your veins will shrivel up brushing up against each other trying to get any drop of blood to run through your vein causing you to go through the worst pain imaginable.” Techno’s eyes turned a dark red.
“Am I clear?” He asked.
Tommy looked at Ranboo swallowing his spit.
“Yes.” Ranboo choked out.
Techno huffed as he stepped onto the porch of an abandoned building that was conveniently in the middle of the woods. He adjusted the collar of his shirt.
“Ok here’s the plan cus I know one of you are gonna screw up something.” Techno glared at Tommy as he spoke, clearly referencing something from the past.
“Hey, that was one time!” Tommy huffed, keeping his voice as low as he possibly could while yelling. “And! It was your fault for not telling me there was a fifth person in the building!”
Techno rolled his eyes. “I said five men give or take. I didn't know the receptionist was gonna be there and armed with a gun nonetheless.”
Ranboo looked between the two. “Are we gonna..” techno and Tommy continued bickering. “No…. alright.” Ranboo made a small finger gun towards Tommy and techno, sighing as he watched the two bicker with each other. It would have been entertaining if they weren’t supposed to be killing a three-hundred-year-old vampire dude.
“Shut up!” Tommy finally shouted. “We have to get mum’s book back or arguing with me is more important.” Tommy huffed, crossing his arms as techno glared at him.
“Fine! Let’s just-“ techno groan, “do what we came here for.” Techno continued, huffing as he glared at Tommy.
---Ranboo’s techno’s guide on how to be a good original vampire: teach the art of war.—
Techno smiled as he pressed the end of his wooden Sword into the younger man’s side, causing him to shout “HEY! No fair! That was cheap,”
Techno shook his head and walked out from behind him. “You need to be aware of your surroundings if you aren’t well.” Techno motioned his thumb under his throat making a cutting motion before making a mocked death face.
Clay looked up at techno with a glare. “One day I’m gonna beat you and it won’t be technoblade never dies.it will be a dream never dies!” Clay motioned his hands into a rainbow shape.
“That sounds ridiculous but hey, keep dreaming kid.” Techno ruffled up his hair before grabbing the wooden sword that lay on the grass and handing it back to clay.

Chapter Text
Techno's face was emotionless as he walked through the halls, he killed without a hint of anger or regret on his face. Ranboo startled each time techno would look at him and tell the other two to keep moving.
They snuck past multiple vampires who were unaware of their existence, looking towards where they came from briefly when they felt a gust of air pass by them.
But despite the almost close calls they eventually made it to the center where most of the vampires were, they had assumed that where Dreams office was because what else would be in there? Gold? some sort of explosive?
Luckily no, there was in fact no explosives anywhere. And no there was no gold sadly but regardless they still went on.
They had just made it past the guards and only had to make their way through the hallway to
dreams office. At the beginning of the hallway they heard hushed voices speaking as if they were debating on a serious matter, though none of the three could make out what they were saying from the small crack in the doorway, so they moved on.
Tommy was the first one to make his way through the halls, Ranboo and techno staying behind so that if one of them (Tommy) made a noise and got caught there wouldn't be any nearly dead vampires that didn't have to nearly die.
Tommy motioned for techno to move second, him quickly making his way through the dark hallways as Ranboo stayed behind and watched.
It was all so easy for them, not to be freaking out when only a few doors down there with ten if not hundreds of vampires waiting to make an attempt on each of their lives. But Ranboo thought that maybe the reason they weren't afraid was because fear didn't come naturally; they didn't have to overthink every thought out one by one. That might be another reason why Ranboo was not any good at being a vampire.
But regardless, techno motioned for Ranboo to go ahead and meet with them. He slid past each of the old withers paintings just before he stood with Tommy and techno waiting for one of them to open the door.
"You open it techno." Tommy muttered and he took a step back.
"Me? Why me? You're the youngest, you go first." Techno scoffed. Ranboo shook his head noting that this would burn up some of their time.
"This ain't a fucking board game techno, you can't die. so. you go first." Tommy made fast hand gestures as he spoke quickly.
"Now tommy-" techno was cut off by Ranboo clearing his throat.
"Are you done bickering like a bunch of school girls or are you gonna keep going until your traps are falling off your face." Ranboo huffed, pressing his hand on his mouth gently still allowing himself to speak.
Tommy gocked at Ranboo as he opened the door slowly, not expecting Ranboo to shut down another one of his brothers fights.
When they entered the office it was quiet, and empty meaning dream had to be somewhere else in this maze of a house.
"Where is he?" Techno growled his voice still kept low.
The door creaked close behind him as a soft voice behind them said "where's who?" Ranboo whipped his head around to see a girl with long brown hair holding his mother's grimoire in her hands.
"None of your business- that's mine." Techno growled eyes turning a faint red.
"Woah woah I didn't mean to piss you off I was just curious."
Ranboo squinted as he studied her, she didn't look like a vampire, or anything supernatural for that matter, thought she could be a witch that could explain her interest with his mother's grimoire.
"Who are you?" Ranboo asked curiously, watching as she answered.
"I'm Aimsey." She smiled clutching the book tighter to her chest as techno stared at her with anger. "And you?" She asked with a small smile.
"Ranboo," he smiled, offering a hand for her to shake. She stared at it for a second as though he offered her a dead mouse.
"It's a hand shake, you grab my hand and move it up and down, like this." Ranboo demistrated by holding both his hands and moving them simultaneously.
"Oh" she laughed. She offered her hand and Ranboo shook her hand with a smile.
"I'm really, truly, terribly sorry for interrupting this heartwarming meeting but we are here for the book not for making preschool buddies, we're not on the playground Ranboo, we're not making friends with strangers." Techno scowled.
Ranboo laughed nervously, "oh yeah may have forgotten that." Tommy shook his head.
"Can we please have that book? What was it? Aimzily” Tommy scrunched up his face.
Aimsey laughed. "Aimsey and yes, I had no idea it was yours in the first place I would not have tampered with it." She smiled as she held out the book to Tommy who smiled widely.
"Do you happen to know where is Dream is too? My brother was hoping to see him to have a.. chat with him. A reunion with friends a suppose" Ranboo shrugged as he looked at techno when he gave him a questioning look.
"Uh. You didn't hear?" Aimsey frowned.
"No? What happened, is he ok?" Technoblade asked, faking his concern.
"He was killed? How could you not hear about this? Our clan leader was murdered?!" Aimsey gasped. "Unless you're not a part of this clan!" Aimsey shouted. "How did I not notice?! You're outsiders! I smelt it on you! How could I be so stupid!?"
Tommy put his hand over Aimsey’s mouth as she raised her voice. "Ok calm down," Tommy whispered. "We're not here to hurt him-" Tommy was cut off from techno elbowing him.
"We are just old friends with old, unfinished business is all." Tommy finished as he glared at techno who was glaring back at him.
"Now. I'm going to take my hand off, promise you, won't scream?" Tommy raised an eyebrow losing it when aimsey nodded frantically.
Tommy sighed and let her go. His silent victory of not having a shouting woman was short lived when she cupped her mouth and screamed as loud as she could.
Ranboo startled and grabbed the nearest thing (that just so happened to be his mother's book that Tommy abandoned on Dreams desk behind him when the girl started to freak out.) And knocked her over the head, she closed her eyes as she feel.to the ground tommy catching her.
They all heard footsteps coming closer with hushed voices following them.
Techno looked at Tommy and Ranboo. "Get out of here with the girl and the book." Techno spoke plainly as he ran out the door most likely to hold off the other vampires.
Ranboo picked aimsey up and walked towards the window that was conveniently left open, him and Tommy ran home as quickly as they could.
---Ranboo's tommy's guide on how to be a good original vampire: loyalty.---
Tommy busted out of the bakeries and found a door with an arm full of sweet bread in his hands as he ran, Ranboo following behind with at least 20 boxes of pastries.
"Get back here you grubby thieves!" The baker shouted as he exited the building, not bothering to run after them.
"Damn kids." He sighed as he adjusted his apron and turned around stomping as he went inside.
~
Tommy and Ranboo fell into the ground as their childish laughs echoed through the throats.
"That was amazing! Tommy! We got so much food!" Ranboo smiled down at the food.
Tommy smiled. "See! your younger brother was right for once." Tommy sat proudly as he bit into one of the loads of bread he had stolen.
"We should get back to the house and show dad, our story is that we sold one of the sheep." Ranboo smiled,
Tommy raised a eyebrow. "But won't he know we're lying?" Tommy asked with an innocent look.
"Of course, he always does, he just doesn't pay any mind to it if it does good." Ranboo shrugged. "Plus, he likes us better than Wilbur and tech, he'll give us a blind eye."
-------
Tommy opened the door and rushed inside with Ranboo following behind.
"What happened?!" Wilbur shouts as he sees a girl in Ranboo's arms.
"Long story." Ranboo chuckles, Tommy tossed the book onto the couch as he spoke with wilbur.
"When techno gets back he'll tell you everything, he'll explain it better than us." Tommy shrugged, sitting on the sofa. Wilbur nodded and went into the kitchen probably to get a bag of blood from the fridge. Ranboo glared at Tommy as he struggled to keep Amisey in his arms worried she'll fall.
"Move." Ranboo grunted. Tommy stood up rolling his eyes as Ranboo set her down gently. Tommy grabbed the book away from the girl and put it on the coffee table with a thud.
"You know if you were on a healthy diet of mortals you could have been stronger than whatever the hell that was, probably could have stayed back to help techno too." Tommy grumbled crossing his arms tight across his chest.
"We would have just got in the way, it's safer here." Ranboo ignored Tommy's first comment.
"We would not have gotten in his way, you would have gotten in our way, you're not a fighter Ranboo that's why he told you to leave because you're weak." Tommy scoffs. All this over the fact he couldn't stay back with techno and the angry vampire clan.
"What- he told you to leave too?! If he thought I would get in his way and turned me away because of that he thought you would too?" Ranboo startled when Tommy rushed forwards grabbing his shoulder.
"He sent me back because he probably thought you would get in trouble and I would have to protect you like always, little Tommy needs to look after his weak, and pathetic big brother." Tommy's eyes glow a dark red. Ranboo’s eyes matched them with a fiery gold.
"Nonsense," techno rolled his eyes as he sat on the chair beside the sofa, Ranboo and Tommy turned to techno and then back at each other letting their arms fall next to their waists. "I made you two leave because I wasn't sure if they had a weapon to kill you two,'' Techno yawned.
"You're bleeding." Ranboo mumbled as he pointed to technos stomach. Techno shook his head.
"Not mine," he lifted his shirt to show Ranboo that he wasn't injured.
When techno stood up and left after Techno headed back to his room Tommy looked toward Ranboo and said, "everything I said was true, you are weak Ranboo and you are not a fighter, I hope you learn how to change that, brother." Tommy sighed and turned towards his own room.
Ranboo was alone in the room now, he looked towards the book, sighing and picking it up before he exited the house.

Chapter Text
Faint pitter patters of rain fell to the ground as Ranboo walked quietly through town. It was late, so not too many people were out at this time. Just a few midnight bars and diner, loners were up and about.
Ranboo held the grimoire underneath his sweater trying to keep it as dry as possible. Nearby cars drove by Ranboo splashing up muddy water onto him, occasionally. making his efforts to stay completely dry void or useless.
He hummed as he came close to the familiar bakery, smiling when he smelt the smell of baked goods leaking through one of the chimneys on top of the building.
He pushed the glassed door open and heard the familiar ring of the door. That bell must've gotten annoying for Niki at some point in the day, perhaps when it was a busy hour, people rushing in to grab sweets and fresh cakes, or when Niki just had a bad experience with a customer only to have to turn and welcome another one inside.
Ranboo pulled the grimoire from behind his back as he entered the bakery. He waited for Niki to show up assuming she was inside. But it seemed that wasn't the case, Ranboo had been standing there for over ten minutes when he finally decided to call out,
"Hello?" He mumbled first, talking a step closer to the front counter. "Is anyone here?" He heard something Scurried through the back room, maybe a rat? Tubbo had mentioned that the city seemed to have an infestation of those.
Ranboo pushed the gate on the side of the counter open, walking behind the counter. He had a bad feeling about this, it was late of course being that the street lights were dim and nobody was out at this time, maybe Ranboo would have to come back later.
Just as he thought that something furry scurried under his feet, he jumped up, dropping the grimoire onto the ground with a loud bang, the pages let small amounts of dust into the air as Ranboo held his chest trying to catch his breath.
As he bent down to pick up the book the lights to the bakery turned on. He stood up quickly dusting off the book, pulling it behind Himself as he cleared his throat.
Niki raised an eyebrow up at him As she dropped her keys to her side. "Ranboo- what are you doing here? Why are you-" Niki says As she unzips her raincoat.
"I was looking for you," Ranboo shrugged, walking out from behind the counter and towards Niki, keeping the grimoire behind himself as he walked.
"Why." She questions, her eyes travel to his Arms, or more his arms that were pulled behind his back, "what are you hiding?" She tried to walk around him to get a peek but Ranboo moved his body so she wouldn't even get a glimpse.
“Nothing- uh are you busy right now?” he chuckled nervously, niki crossed her arms.
“It depends on what you're hiding from me.”
Ranboo sighed. “Fine, don't get all touchy touchy with it though i don't want you to ruin it, its fragile.” Ranboo pulled the grimoire out from behind himself, showing her the front cover,
“Woah.” was the only thing niki said, she ran gentle fingers over the cover. “This is. This is.” She started and stopped. “This is beautiful.” she finally stated. “Where did you get this? I haven't seen one of these in years.”
“It was my mom’s.” Ranboo smiled. He let niki take the book from his hands as she flipped through the delicate pages. “I was wondering if you could cast one of the spells inside of it.”
Niki closed it gently, "well it depends," Niki ran her figure tips across the pages and was careful not to get any paper cuts on the ancient parchment. "I'm a powerful witch Ranboo, and I wasn't born yesterday, my work comes with a price."
Ranboo nodded, that was fair, it wasn't like he couldn't offer something or value, he had gold, he had power, he had things no human could dream of.
"And that is?" Ranboo finally asked,
"Your soul." Niki said plainly, Ranboo looked confused and a bit taken aback,
Niki bursted out into a fit of laughter, "I'm kidding! I'm kidding! I doubt your soul is even worth much with you being immortal and all."
Ranboo sighed in relief, "So then what Is your price?"
"Well it depends on what the spell is, how much power it takes yada-yada," Niki waved her hand in the arm all while keeping the grimoire safe against her hip.
"Hm well I can show you it if you could give me the book for a moment." Niki compiled and handed over the grimoire. Ranboo flipped through the book looking for a page he had gently dog-eared days before.
"here it is." Ranboo mumbled, Niki looked over the book looking at the spell.
"Ranboo that's a curse? Why do you- oh Ranboo." Niki sighed. "Ranboo this is a curse meant to hide a werewolf's wolf."
Ranboo nodded. "Yes, that is why I want it? It will make me a normal vampire again."
"Hardly." Niki took the book from Ranboo’s hand. "This won't just hide your wolf, it will erase it."
Ranboo let a puzzled look fall over his face. "But that's what I want."
Niki sighed. "Ok I'll have to explain it." Niki waved Ranboo over to one of the booths in the far corner of the bakery, they were meant for people wanting to enjoy their tasty treats while sitting down, not for a witch to explain in detail why this cruise was a bad idea.
As Ranboo slipped into his seat Niki cleared her throat. "Alright, so just making sure you understand, you do know that all supernatural powers, or abilities you have are connected right? They all are linked together like a chain."
Ranboo blinked a few times, repeating her words in his head over and over. "I think so?" He finally said.
Niki nodded, "Ok well, if you were to cast this curse," Niki pointed to the spell in particular. "You will not only erase your wolf but your vampire abilities,"
Ranboo froze. is that even possible? he thought. "So would that make me human?" Ranboo whispered.
Niki nodded a sigh slipping through her lips, "Well, yes and no. Your mother was a witch so you probably will be as well"
Ranboo ran his thumb over his necklace, feeling the carved ridges of the metal under his thumb pad. "Why would that be so bad?"
"Well it would be a big change, not one you could be impulsive about, all your senses would decrease and you'll be disoriented for awhile, you would've pulled more than on jenga piece out at a time causing the tower to fall, that shock would put you in a cycle of pain that would make you feel as though you were drowning."
"Would it be worth it?" Ranboo asked, running his hand through his hair.
"I can't say for sure I've never experienced my wolf and I'm not even part vampire." Niki gently closed the grimoire gently. “But. I know that it can be terrifying, so with that being said if you were to get me all the right ingredients for this i will cast this spell” Ranboo.” a smile tugged on her lips. Ranboo stood for a moment taking in all this information. But eventually broke out into a cheer “Thank you! Thank you! Niki you are amazing” he gave Niki a quick but meaningful hug before taking the grimoire back and exiting the bakery, leaving niki slightly confused but charmed.
—-
Ranboo woke up the next morning with a smile painted onto his face. He stared up at the pale colored ceiling, he was going to be cured! He was going to be human again. all he had to do was get the ingredients on the list and give them to niki and he was cured, he was going to be normal again.
Ranboo sat up, almost immediately regretting it when his side felt like it was lit on fire, he let a quiet yelp escape his lips before he looked down at he once white t shirt that was now drenched in an inky black color, he lifted his shirt to reveal wound about the size of his forearm, it was throbbing and looked gnarly. Ranboo wanted to vomit from not only the once unnoticed pain and the disgusting yellow colored flesh.
Ranboo let go of the fabric and held his hand to his mouth as he slowly stood up, regretting it and sitting back down onto the mattress.
“Can any one of you come to my room please. I need help.” ranboo whispered to no one in particular hoping someone was home and could hear him.
It took a few minutes but someone knocked on the door
A “are you alright ranboo?” following soon after.
Ranboo felt his vision swim, his mind slipping into unconsciousness slowly, his eyes barely staying open to realize himself falling backwards onto the mattress behind him.
When he reawoke hours later, he felt his side burn and flare up. Black liquid was no longer flowing down his side into their mattress as he now had a thick bandaged covering it, the tap keeping it still on his skin would pull on his flesh causing the burning sensation, he sat up slightly to get a good look at the bandage seeing dark, purple nearly black streaks moving away from where he assumes the large gash was. “What the hell” he whispered,
“What the hell indeed” a voice called from the doorway, Tommy was standing there with a tray of what he thought was soup and crackers. Ranboo let himself collapse back down on the mattress as Tommy came around, he eyed the stain on the sheet before clearing his throat, “i didn't get the chance to clean that up for you yet since you were asleep.”
Ranboo nodded taking notice to how tommy stood over him nervously as if he was hiding something and if ranboo asked him what it was he would have to tell him what it was. So he did, he raised a brow and spoke carefully. “What is it? Is it ugly or something?” he chuckled.
Tommy shook his head but stayed silent as he stood with his arms crossed. He hadn't even offered him the soup yet. How strange. Ranboo raised his eyebrow again asking, “what? What is it?” it couldn't be good, he thought, Tommy never stays this quiet unless it's serious.
“Ranboo..” he drifted.
The silence was killing ranboo, he wanted tommy to just say it, he didn't care if it was bad news, he just wanted tommy to stop acting weird ands spill.
Tommy cleared his throat and started again. “Ranboo, your side is infected. It's not healing and-” Tommy stopped talking, ranboo wanted to fill in the space with, “and it's going to be ok because techno has one of those cool plans he always has.” but the look Tommy was giving him was telling him something different. It was telling ranboo that someone was going to die. That he, was going to die and ranboo didn't understand why but his heart dropped realizing what that could mean.
Ranboo wasn't going to be cured, was he? He wasn't going to be ok? Was he?
