Chapter 1: The Appointment
Chapter Text
"PHILLLLL! HELP, I'M DYING!!"
[Tommyinnit was slain by zombie]
"Tommy, you suck!"
"Shut UP, Will! No one asked."
"You're just mad you can't survive longer than ten minutes in a cave."
"Pfft, as if. There were, like, ten zom-" Tommy was cut off by his mother shouting up the stairs at him. He quickly muted his mic so the stream wouldn't hear and deafened the discord call.
"TAMARA, GET OFF THAT DAMN GAME, WE'RE GONNA BE LATE."
"JUST A MINUTE MOM"
He ended stream without a word and began quickly running down the stairs, grabbing a hoodie on their way out.
Their mom rushing him was utterly pointless. He was ready shortly after she shouted for them to come down the stairs but she was still in her room doing God knows what as he waited in the living room for her. He knew it'd be a while before she was fully ready so he decided to tweet an apology for ending the stream so quickly.
"Sorry about the abrupt end guys. I forgot about my dentist appointment today but I might stream when I get back home!"
He lied. He did have an appointment but not for the dentist. He had tried to come out to his mom as trans and her solution to "fixing" him was sending him to a Christian counselor. There was nothing wrong with him though. They knew that. He wasn't "confused" or anything. They knew who he was. He just wouldn't let his mom know that. He had made up his mind about that the fourth time she lectured him about how trans people are unnatural.
His moms voice startled him out of his thoughts. "Are you ready to leave?"
"Yeah, I've been waiting on you."
Off to another pointless counseling appointment.

Chapter Text
Tommy generally like most of his classes. Spanish wasn't even as bad as most of the students made it out to be. The only reason his school friend Cindy didn't like Spanish class was because the teacher, Miss Marquez, didn't like her. Miss Marquez didn't like her because she doesn't know how to shut up, sit down, and at least act like she's paying attention. Tommy was good at sitting down and being quiet. God knows he had enough practice at home. He was good at sitting down and acting respectful so most teachers thought he was a pleasure to have in class. Because most teachers liked him he usually ended up having a good time in class.
They had a Spanish vocabulary quiz coming up in a few days and in an attempt to make learning the words more enjoyable Miss Marquez made a game for them to play at the front of the class on the white board. Tommy wasn't very competitive, but Cindy was so they went up to play. the way you played was two people had markers, the players, and waited for the caller to shout out a vocabulary word in Spanish and the players turned and wrote the translation on the board fast as they could. Another thing about Tommy was that they weren't a very fast writer. He still played for the chance at winning candy.
"La tarea," Talea called.
Tommy quickly turned to write the answer on the board and got halfway through it but-
"Cindy got it, it was the assignment." Talea said.
"Ha, that's one point." Cindy said, half tauntingly.
"What's the next one?" Tommy asked.
"La reloj," said Talea.
Tommy quickly wrote "clock" on the board before Cindy could.
"That's Tamara's point." said Talea.
"Let's goo!" Tommy quietly cheered.
"Pfft, you're so childish, it's just one point. Get over yourself." Cindy said.
"So? It's still a point." Tommy retorted.
"Let's just move on. El periódico," Talea said, rushing to avoid a fight.
The point went to Cindy. She got two more while Tommy only got one.
"Cindy won Miss Marquez!" Talea called.
"Cindy, come get your candy then call for Talea and Tamara." Miss Marquez replied.
"Do I really have to compete again? Talea can just go against Jackson," Tommy complained.
"You know losers have to go until they win, Tamara." Cindy said whilst smacking on her candy.
"Very classy, Cindy. Just hurry up and call already." Tommy replied.
Talea was ahead of Tommy by one point. She was at two while Tommy was at one.
"La luz." Cindy called.
Tommy quickly turned around to write "light" before Talea had the chance to figure out what it was. They turned around, a bit proud of knowing the answer after losing last round against Cindy.
"Psh, real proud of herself for that one, you see the way she turned around?" Cindy remarked. She took Talea's marker and mocked Tommy, turning around to face the board rather pompously.
He couldn't help it. All he did was have a bit of confidence. They turned around to go back to his desk while tears blurred his vision. He sat with his head on the desk the rest of the class period.
