Peter’s Pov
I continue to eat my burgers as I think about the last few days. So far I haven't been able to change much as far as the main timeline originally went. So far with the avengers Captain america is still on ice and won't be found until about a month or so before the battle of new york maybe a little sooner, Captain marvel is somewhere in space; only fury can call her in right now, banner got his powers about 4 and ½ years ago; harlem won't happen until 6-ish months before the battle of new york, thor is in asgard; won't be banished to earth for another year, and the battle of new york won't be for another year and 3 months. With the stones the Tesseract/Space stone is with shield on earth; won't come into play until the battle of new york, the Aether/Reality stone is also technically on earth and in the space between worlds currently; isn't supposed to come into play until thor fights the dark elves, the power stone is on nowhere with the collector; Thanos grabs that at some point, The mind stone is with Thanos; will be brought to earth in Loki's scepter, The time stone is in the Sanctum Sanctorum; won't be known about until the first battle with Thanos, and the soul stone is on Vormir.
So far the most I’ve been able to do is delay the ten rings by a couple weeks, and that's more of a maybe, since I burned the mach 1’s blueprints before we left afghanistan, Avoid Mr.Stark getting water boarded while he still had a battery strapped to his chest, convince tony not to show anyone the arc reactor in his chest yet which means the reporters shouldnt have anything but Rhodey still saw because of the check up he gave Mr.Stark and that means that Stane might know as well because originally he didn't know who told Stane. My presence alone has probably changed a lot as well. Mr.Stark had a very bad drinking problem at this time, he was extremely distant, and his trust issues set in after what happened between him and Stane. Not to mention his on again off again relationship with Pepper.
Technically he’s been sober for the last 3 months but that only because he’s been in afghanistan and he hasn’t been so bad in the emotions department or actively trying to distance himself so far but pepper said that tony really started to calm down once we started having proper lab day sessions after civil war. Technically they were both traumatic events so maybe my presence is having a similar effect.
I put Karen into stealth mode the night we started on Mach 1 in the cave. I don’t have her charging station with me so it will conserve her battery while maintaining two functions; the spider suit in the HUD sticking to his chest and mimicking my current body temperature to avoid detection by thermal sensors. Jarvis hasn't had any proper updates yet so while he has security cameras, audio recorders, and thermal scanners Jarvis doesn't have the ability to take a full body scan yet meaning he won't be able to detect my suit for a good while. Even by the time that Jarvis does have those capabilities my HUD will barely give off enough of an energy signature to seem like a small powered down phone. This does however mean that I’ll only be able to activate my suit again outside of the mansion or if I tell them that I'm from the future and to be honest I'm still unsure if I'm gonna tell anyone .
However I still need to plan out my game plan for the next ten years and while I have a pretty good memory I need to have a way to keep track of events and important information and since I can’t use karen my next best option is a coded notebook. Having digital files would be too risky and will be easier to find than a single copy. Plus if it's coded right it wont make sense to anyone but me. I placed an order on the tablet for three college ruled five subject notebooks. It makes me feel guilty for using Me.Starks money like this but it's technically for the greater good. I don't get too many clothes, just a few simple shirts and two pairs of jeans and sleep pants and a pack of socks and underwear in my size (after checking my tags). This purchase makes me feel a little more guilty and I hesitate over the buy button.
“Sir gave you permission to buy yourself clothes and anything else you desired, There is no reason to be hesitant, if anything he will most likely tell you to order more.” Jarvis interrupts my train of thought, startling me slightly.
“I know I’m just not used to it.” I pause before realizing that Jarvis didn't directly address me by name. “Oh and my name is Peter, it's nice to meet you Jarvis, Mr.Stark told me a lot about you.” It’s true Mr.Stark usually cycled through stories about Jarvis (his butler and AI), Rhodey, Pepper, and Happy. Sometimes he would talk about college too but I only heard the age appropriate stories which there weren't a lot of.
“Nice to meet you Peter, How long have you known Sir?” It's kind of amazing how even Mr.Starks early AI’s had the ability to mimic emotions and vocal lit. I need to answer but around this time Obadiah and shield already had their hands on Mr.Starks servers and the mansion was compromised so I need to be smart about what questions I answer and which ones I ask.
“Since I woke up in Afghanistan, Mr.Stark Had been brought in around the same time as me. So around 3-ish months.” I responded.
“Why were you there?” It's asked with concern but I know it's looking for an explanation of my presence.
“I don’t know I Remember waking up in a cave but I don't remember how I got there, I got a concussion when a bomb went off near me and I got thrown into a really big rock. Yinsen checked me over but I was mostly fine other than the fact that I can’t remember the week prior to my concussion.” technically it wasn't me lying, I have no idea what I was doing the week before Mr.Stark had just been kidnapped, but I do know exactly what happened the week before I woke up here.
“Why aren't you getting checked out in a hospital?” Jarvis asked with an exasperated tone.
“I don’t like doctors. I got a quick examination on the air force base plus Yisen was a doctor and he checked me over and said I was fine and I'm still retaining new memories.” It’s a very child-like response but that's what I'm supposed to be mimicking anyways.
“Alright.” The response sounded closer to resignation than anything else and I giggled at it. I already finished my lunch and the stuff I ordered won't arrive until tomorrow morning.
“Jarvis, can you pull up a list of the current patents on long distance communication devices and what components will have to either be replaced, worked around, or foregone completely. Military grade only please.”
“Of course they’ve been pulled up on your tablet already.” I start to look over patents and ask Jarvis to make a note of what will be replaced. I started by figuring out how to make the communicators light and slim but still durable enough that they can be used in the field then on how to keep them cost effective. I also had to make sure that the devices could be made in the Factories that Stark industries already has. I turned on the tv for background noise at some point and watched the press conference where Mr.Stark had announced shutting down the weapons division of stark industries. It went a little differently than originally but mostly the same. The weapons division is still shutting down, Mr.Stark will begin to look for the mole, and agent coulson will attempt to get a meeting with Mr.Stark. Once the press conference ended I turned the T.V. off, it’s a live press conference so Mr.Stark will be on his way soon.
I continue to work on it for the next hour or so and I have a workable blueprint by the time Mr.stark comes back from his press conference. it's still a slightly outdated model for what stark industries had made for the military contracts in 2023 but compared to the tech of 2009 this would be a huge improvement.
“Hey bambino Did you finish your lunch?” Mr.Stark asks me. I look up before answering him and hold out the tablet.
“Yea I finished my lunch and ordered some clothes and notebooks, I prefer physical notes sometimes, and started up on the new communications designs for the military. Light, slim, durable, and can be made in Stark industries current factories.” I tell Mr.Stark, he should have already showed Obadiah Stane the reactor because he trusts him so starting now I have anywhere from 2 to 3 weeks before Mr.Stark will have Mach 2 set up and another 2 to 3 weeks until Stane will have everything set up to make his own suit thanks to my earlier interference. It should give me enough time to find all of the Ten rings bases in Afghanistan and any other bases located outside that. Last time Mr.Stark found one before everything with Obadiah happened and then located about 5 more bases after that but some had still slipped by him.
“These look great, the notebooks are fine with me but some projects are going to just be kept on my private server. Jarvis, can you pull up Peter's order to make sure there's nothing else he needs.” Mr.Stark asks Jarvis.
“Peter ordered 4 shirts, two pairs of jeans, one pair of sleep pants, one pack of socks, and one pack of undergarments along with 3 notebooks.” Jarvis stated my order.
“What? That's all you ordered. You need at least 4 more shirts, two more jeans, and more pajamas.” Mr.Stark said, looking up from the tablet to look at me.
“Jarvis add what I just said to Peter’s order. Come on Peter, I’m pretty sure I promised some lab time and I need to work on some projects.” Mr.Stark turned towards the stairs a moment later and I quickly scrambled after him.
When I had looked over the files from the 2014 info dump Shield and Stane had been able to get into nearly Mr.Starks entire filing system, that is except for his lab. All of those files had been compromised because they were on Mr.Starks private server like Jarvis coding. So first steps are Upgrading Jarvis and finding Shield’s trojan horse and Obadiah’s back door. Then having Jarvis do a scan of the mansion for bugs and assisting Mr.Stark while looking for Ten rings bases. Easy peasy. Hopefully.
“Ok so do you want to start on the communicators for SI, look at Jarvis code, or Help me with a new reactor and Mach 2?” Mr.Stark asked me as I looked around at his workshop. It's a lot different than the ones at the tower and compound but this one suits him more than the others, it has a better lived in feel than the others did, more personal touches too, the only thing missing is a picture of pepper on his table.
“Jarvis first because him being on top of his game means no more Afghanistans. Then the communicators and other tech for the military because they won't take too long and you need to present something to the military before you lose any contracts, plus it will calm Rhoedy down since you're currently iceing him as your military liaison. Then we need to also get some Prototypes set up for the general public as well. We can work on mach 2 after we get all of the tech in prototype stages since it isn't as time sensitive and is a personal project.” I answered him honestly.
“Fine we can get business done first, Responsibility and being a good example and all that jazz. You make a good point about updating Jarvis's defense systems and Rhodey probably is taking the heat as my lesion. Also you don't seem surprised about me wanting to build a new suit in the first place. Am I really that predictable?” Mr.Stark comments on my thinking.
“You’ve always been a bit reckless so building the suit makes sense especially for what we saw in Afghanistan, plus even though the circumstances were terrible you enjoyed building it.” I told him, recalling our time there.
“Ok Jarvis Pull up your code at my work bench while I find another bench for Peter.” JArvis did as he was told and Mr.Stark went to get me a bench as I scanned over the code. When he came back we sat next to each other and Mr.Stark began to do a scan over Jarvis as I set up a separate tab with three sets of code. One would be an update for Jarvis that I Started and Sent to Mr.Stark to finish, the second one to look for inconsistencies in Jarvis code, and the third would pull up any code in jarvis system that did not match Mr.Starks coding signature just incase the second program doesn't find anything. I learned quite a bit from Ned and Mr.Stark but it still took around 3 hours before we were ready to add the update and start the programs up to scan Jarvis’s code.
“Ok the Programs are running now. How long until we get your report Jarvis?” Mr.Stark asked the AI.
“Report should be ready in 2 hours and 11 minutes, Sir.” Jarvis replied.
“Great, ok next up is the military tech, we have the communicator you’ve designed so we’ll start there and move forward on more military projects then SI projects.” Mr.Starked looked over my design for the communicators, tweaking it a bit before starting to work on energy efficient Stark phones and tablets as I started on prosthetics for military and civilian use. We worked over the next two hours with Tony in charge of the music playing, led zeppelin and ACDC songs until Jarvis told us his report was ready. Neither Mr.Stark nor I were surprised to find that two different Organizations were in Jarvis’s code and we quickly back traced both, one leading to SI and the other to shield.
“Jarvis I want you to do a scan of the mansion for bugs and loop them if there are any then I want you Place a Trojan horse in Shield using their own link, I want it quiet, no one should know you're even in there and I want to see all of their digital files of importance. SI will have to be taken care of Manually so set a board meeting up for tomorrow at 2 and check Peppers Schedule to make sure she doesn't have any meetings at that time so I can leave Peter with her. If peters been in the mansion then both of our moles know about him and he's not safe staying here alone anymore. Call Happy and Pepper and let him know to be here at 8 tomorrow for a debrief on the situation. Until I can get into SI properly I want Pepper to be moved to remote work at the mansion for the next week. No one goes in or out of this house without my knowledge and until I find the Mole, only Peter, Pepper, Rhodey, and Happy are allowed in the house; everyone else is currently under inspection.” Mr.Stark tells Jarvis.
“Ok while Jarvis starts on his tasks let's keep working on the projects for SI and we'll eat in an hour or two.” Mr.Stark told me.
“Ok” A lot of things are about to change, hopefully I can keep up with them.
