Chapter Text
when you woke up you felt better rested than ever. and also ready to rush over to shota's house so you could finally get your belongings back.
and so you did, hopping into your mother's car after a nutrient-full breakfast prepared by the house attendants, the two of you drove over to shota's house as fast as the law would allow you to. when you reached your honorary father's house you didn't waste any time jumping out of the car and using the set of keys he'd given you for emergencies to open the door and slip your shoes off as fast as possible. as you were removing your shoes you crashed right into the pro, dressed in a white dress shirt, hair pulled into a half up half down style, and his stubble only just growing in again.
"oh, shota!" you slid your shoes into the rack and tackled the man into a hug.
he didn't hesitate hugging you back, albeit complaining about how you were wrinkling his shirt. he pulled you tight to his chest, whispering what you could only assume was reprimands for getting yourself into wack shit life threatening situations every day. after pulling away from the hug, he ruffled your hair before smoothing down his own and releasing a breath. "where's your mom?"
as if she'd heard his call, your mom walked through the door, sliding her shoes off as well and pulling shota into a quick side-hug. upon pulling away she looked at his attire suspiciously, "are you headed out somewhere? you don't usually put your hair up like that unless you have to."
shota nodded, "after i talk to you guys i have to visit all the students' families in (y/n)'s class."
"huh? why?" you asked, looking between the two pros.
"come sit down, and i'll get your stuff for you after we talk." shota led you and your mother to the living room where he sat across from you and her.
once everyone was settled, shota began quick and simple. "u.a will be introducing a dorm system for the hero course students."
your mother chewed her lip nodding, as if she knew about this plan and was thinking about whether or not she'd let you be apart of the system.
meanwhile you were shocked to hear such news, "a dorm system?? like at the school?"
while you were shocked, a small bubble of excitement grew in your chest. it would be like a permanent sleepover with all your friends and classmates...
shota rolled his eyes, unimpressed. "no, (y/n). a dorm system at your house, everyone gets a bit of space from your humongous room."
you waved him off, "yeah, whatever. seriously though??" you turned to your mom, "did you know about this?"
your mom nodded, "well, not that anybody told me beforehand, but i figured something like this would end up happening. with the events that keep occuring, i assumed u.a would want to keep you closer from now on."
you turned to shota to see if your mom was right and tilted your head when the man nodded. he scratched at his stubble, "way to hit the nail on the head. i'm glad you understand so i don't have to drone on about the fundamentals of the system..."
your mother gave shota a look, "shota, i haven't yet said if i agree."
this time it was shota's time to look confused, "himari. come on, it's not like (y/n) even gets supervision in the house. apart from two days a week, she's alone practically everyday unless she's with me, hizashi, or nemuri. being apart of a dorm system will make sure she's at least looked after. whether you like it or not, you and i both know she's better off at u.a than alone at her own house."
your mom looked away frowning. yes she left you alone, but she didn't like to admit it. it made her feel as if she'd failed a mother in some form. "fine... only because i trust you and u.a, shota. and i trust you, (y/n). don't disappoint me. both of you."
"yes ma'am," you and shota both nodded.
you turned to shota, slowly grinning, "shotaaa, can i please see the dorm beforehand? i wanna paint a mural in my dorm, please!! like the one i have in my room, and it won't dry quick enough if i wait until everyone moves in."
shota thought the idea over, "fine, but you're not to talk about the dorms with anybody, not until everyone and everything is situated."
"yes, sir!"
you hauled paint supplies into the elevator, pressing the fifth button. shota told you that your room was to be on the top floor, but you could pick whichever room you wanted as long as you didn't make too much of a mess.
when you reached the fifth floor, you dropped the paint cans to flex your palms. you left the cans and supplies by the elevator and walked up and down the hall deciding which room to pick. eventually you decided on the second door on the left. you went back to the elevator and dragged your materials into the room.
upon walking in you noticed how the dorm room was nearly half the size of your own room back home. 'i'll have to cut down on furniture then...' you started to visualize where things would go, and what exactly you'd bring in such a small space. you placed some painter's tape down on the floor for general measurements of your belongings, and how much space they'd take up. it was an estimate of course, since you didn't have the actual measurements at the moment, but it'd work for the time being.
"so much empty space," you mumbled to yourself. it was perfect, you could do whatever you wanted with it, so long as you didn't damage the room or cause any ruckus. shota was in the common room talking with vlad king and principal nezu, so you weren't completely alone and had even more reason to mind your noise level.
just as you were thinking this, the heavy can of paint nearly fumbled out of your grip, giving you a mini heart attack.
"looks like you need some help, sunshine."
"ah, no, i think i'm okay actually, thanks thou– wait." you whirled around, paint can in your left hand hand and your right hand ready to summon your power.
"ah.. what?" your hands dropped to your sides. you didn't know whether you were supposed to be surprised anymore. the amount of times you'd run into a situation like this... you couldn't muster the shock anymore. still, you were partly in disbelief at this certain someone's sudden appearance. "apollo..?"
the god dipped his head slightly in acknowledgement, "god of light, prophecy, medicine, and art. at your service, love. –ah, well not really. i'm the god, you should be at my service but you get my drift. anyway," the god in all his gold beauty strode to where you stood and gently took the paint can from your hand, bending down to set it down on the floor by your feet. when he leaned down o place the can down you were able to take in his height. he had to be at least 196 centimeters (about 6'5), and when he stood back up to his full height, he towered over you.
"as i said, im the god of art. it seems you're preparing for a hell of an art project, aren't you?"
you collected your thoughts, blinking away the minuscule disbelief you felt. "yeah, that's right. i'm painting an ocean mural on the wall." you pointed your thumb at the wall behind you.
"hmm, there should be a pretty sunset behind the horizon don't you think?" apollo took a look at the wall. as if he was sizing it up for the mural.
you shook your head, "actually, i wanted to have a thunderstorm over the sea. a sunset would be pretty, but it's not what i'm going for."
apollo pouted, "a sunset would be prettier, but i suppose a storm would be alright too, child of poseidon."
you blinked, it was probably the first time someone called you "child of poseidon" outright. you were only lucky nobody was there to hear the sun god.
"lord apollo.. please don't call me that, if someone would've heard you it would've caused a lot trouble."
"no one heard me though, did they? but i suppose you're right. i'll have to remember to only call you that when it's just me and you, sunshine." the god winked before picking up primer and opening the can with ease. 'also so long as you don't call me lord apollo. as much as i love the title, i don't want you to call me it."
your mouth fell open a bit, 'is he implying that there will be more occurrences like this between us? and he wants me to be informal with him?? the gods are so confusing...'
"well? let's get started. the earlier we start, the earlier we'll finish." apollo began brushing some primer onto the bare wall.
you snapped out of your daze and carefully took the brush from his hand, "no, i can do it, really."
apollo turned to you and gently pried the brush from your grip, before taking your hand with his other and pressing his lips to it. he peered up at you through his lashes, a smile set on his perfect lips. "i offered you my service; something rare of me. i advise you take my offer, love."
your face flushed and you pulled your hand back from the god's bigger one, "y-yeah, okay then. if you say so.."
'hello?? what the fuck was that?? am i still at the league of villains hideout being drugged to sleep or something? is this a dream?'
apollo continued brushing primer on the wall as if nothing happened, you looked at the back of your hand where apollo kissed the soft skin of it and shook yourself off. you grabbed another brush and started priming the other side of the wall.
"beautiful, isn't it?" apollo stepped back from the wall, admiring your work. crashing waves and roaring thunderclouds looked alive on the surface.
you grinned, your fingers ghosting over the lightning being shot out of the charcoal clouds. "yeah."
"not quite as beautiful as you though," apollo glanced at you from the corner of his eye to see your reaction.
"oh," you stiffened, face feeling hot again. "um, thank you."
apollo's brow raised, "what? are you not used to compliments, sunshine?"
'he noticed?'
"uh, no, it's not that. i do get compliments, but usually they're quirk focused compliments. we live in a society where quirks are pretty important," you shrugged.
apollo side-stepped to be closer to you, like the smooth god he was. "one's value shouldn't be estimated by power or appearance. a good soul is what gets one far in life, it's also what gets you into elysium. as for you, you're lucky to have all three."
little helping note for those who don't know much about greek mythology, elysium is basically heaven to the greeks! it goes deeper than that, but for now that's all you need to know.
you didn't expect such words from the god. frankly you expected him to value appearance over anything. maybe looks can be decieving.
"i guess you're right. and thank you, apollo." you were about to bend over in a bow but the god put his hand out to stop you before you could even move.
"i told you to forget that 'lord' title, didn't i? that includes bowing and being so formal with me. relax, (y/n)."
it was the first time apollo called you by your name, and not some sort of petname. it was probably because he was a god, but the sound of your name off his tongue made you feel warm again. you frowned, "how did you even know i was going to bow...?"
"i'm the god of prophecy, i can predict a few things." he winked at you for the second time that day. he paused and his gaze wandered to nothing before darting back to you, "speaking of which, it's my time to leave. i'll see you soon, sunshine."
he stepped forward and leaned towards you, lips barely brushing over your cheek before he was gone.
once the moment hit you you stepped back from where the god was previously standing, you hand coming up to your cheek. 'what a physically affectionate god... i don't think even aphrodite was this intimate with me.'
"(y/n), are you done up there?" shota called, telling by how close his voice was (and the ding of the elevator doors) you could tell he'd just gotten up on the fifth floor.
"uh-- yeah, almost!" you replied, looking out at the balcony door, the curtains were pulled back and the sun was definitely not shining that bright earlier. it had to have been apollo's doing. you looked back at the mural and you could have sworn the waves glistened against the sunlight pouring in from the balcony door.
you heard light footsteps coming down the hall and turned to the door.
"why're you just standing in the middle of the room like that?" shota tilted his head, before his gaze wandered to the mural. "the mural looks great, kid. how'd it dry so fast though...?"
he mainly said it to himself, but you replied anyway. "ah, the sun's shining pretty bright today, i guess it helped the mural dry quicker."
shota frowned, "even so, normally it takes a mural this big a few hours to dry... ah, whatever. c'mon, i'm driving you to your house so you can choose what furniture to bring and pack the rest of your bags."
you nodded, "okay, i'm coming, i'm coming."
