Chapter 1: conversation with a ram demon who randomly showed up in your bedroom
Chapter Text
To say that Schlatt didn’t like the Watson family would be a sheer and burning understatement.
He hated the family name with a fiery blazing passion. Each day, he was reminded by the absence of his beautiful sister that the Watsons, Philza, Technoblade and Wilbur, had done something terrible beyond even his nephew Tubbo’s imagination, and that was really saying something. He had long since swore that one day, one day they would pay for it.
He knew almost everything about the hell-forsaken family. Like how Phil worked late almost every day, and Wilbur and Technoblade were finishing up high school, possibly looking at university or college. Meaning Schlatt had the perfect opportunity almost every day to take his revenge.
And the ram demon knew just how to get it from them.
You see, he recently found out from his sister-in-law that the Watsons had another son. One of the only subjects he had surprisingly never heard out of any of them.
A young little boy, with golden blond hair and bright sapphire eyes. Theseus Watson, though they liked to call him Tommy. And Schlatt considered himself one to give people a taste of their own medicine.
The Watsons had taken something precious of his away. It’s only fair that he gets to do the same. By killing their youngest child, he could finally take revenge on the demon hunters once and for all, for everything they had done to him and his family.
And he knew just how to do it.
Schlatt just had to get close to the boy; he just had to pretend to be an imaginary friend and the trick is done: he can kidnap the kid and kill him right in front of his whole family.
So when he first materialised himself into the young Watson’s room, in the afternoon when he’d known that anyone else would either be out or busy, he had every piece of his plan fitted together.
What he hadn’t expected, however, was how overly enthusiastic Tommy was when he first met the boy.
It came as a shock to him at first, having had his back to the demon, then turning around only to find the towering man staring down at him. He shrieked and jumped back, quickly dropping into a more defensive pose, though it just looked cute to the ram demon.
“Hello?” Tommy slowly asked, setting down a crayon he was using to draw a picture of what looked like a cat. “Who are you?”
Schlatt’s decision was quick. “I’m your new imaginary friend,” he said in a tone accurate to that of a manipulative Disney villain. “My name is Schlatt.”
Tommy perked up as he said the word ‘friend’. “‘maginary friend? I’ve never had a friend before! You look so cool! My name is The— Tommy, it’s Tommy.”
Schlatt tensed at his first sentence, but blew it off as he was just young. “Hello Tommy!” he said, overly sweetly, though the boy didn’t notice it. “I’ll be your first friend then.”
That was the point where Tommy showed his excited side. “Wow, okay! My first friend! I can’t wait to show Daddy when he gets home from work.”
Schlatt stiffened. “No, they won’t be able to see me.” Thank the lords of fuck for that, or this would be much harder.
Tommy’s smile was quick to drop. “Why?”
Schlatt quickly thought of an excuse to placate the little boy. “I’m your imaginary friend. Only you can see and hear me.” He knew that much would be true. He wouldn’t be a powerful demon if he didn’t know how to control his powers in his favour.
“Oh.” Tommy looked to the ground. “Alright. That’s okay. At least I have a friend.”
What is up with this kid? Schlatt thought, becoming more and more concerned by the second. “Yeah, at least that. So what are you doing?”
“Oh!” Tommy picked up the drawing. “It’s a drawing of me, Techie, Wilby and Dadza!” The image depicts four scribbly figures, two smaller than the first, and one even smaller than all of them. Their names were scrawled above the figures, Phil, Techno, Wilbur…..and Tommy, set apart from the others on the thin paper.
“That’s very good, Toms!” Schlatt smiled, maybe a little genuinely, but he’d never admit that. “Is that your family?” he asked, though he already knew the answer.
Tommy nodded. “Yes! I’m going to show it to Dadza when he gets home, and then he will be happy with me!”
At that moment, the door abruptly opened. Schlatt was about to duck out of sight, when he remembered only Tommy was able to see him. He did, however, suppress a growl when he realised the person who entered was Wilbur.
“Hey, just checking up on you,” he said casually, sounding a little bored like he didn’t want to be there. “Do you want anything from the fridge or something?”
Tommy shook his head. “No, ‘m fine,” he said slowly, not taking his eyes off Schlatt. Wilbur just shrugged and left the room, not bothering to softly close the door behind him, instead almost slamming it.
Schlatt did not miss Tommy slightly flinching at the loud noise from the door. Jesus, what stick was up Will’s ass? “You alright?”
Tommy nodded quickly. “Yep! I’m a big man, I don’t get scared by loud noises.”
Schlatt let out a surprised laugh. “Yes you are, big man.”
Tommy giggled. “So……what are you?”
Schlatt should probably have seen that question coming. “I’m a ram person.” It was technically the truth, though it didn’t cover the actual power he held as a demon.
The answer seemed to satisfy Tommy, at least. “That’s really cool. I wish I was a ram.”
Schlatt snorted. “Nah, you’re fine as a human, kid. Everyone likes you that way.”
“Okay!” Tommy stood up. “Can we play a game?”
Schlatt shrugged. “Sure kid.”
He could last through a few weeks, maybe even a month with this little kid. He would do anything to gain his trust so he could take out his revenge, so he could watch the suffering on the Watsons' faces the way it was once on his.
He just needed to be patient.
Chapter 2: he’s attached, your honour
Summary:
Schlatt secretly smiled as he walked through the sheltered hallway, listening to Tommy babble about his day at kindergarten, the boy’s original sadness long since blown away as he showed him a picture of his family.
But he wasn’t attached. He wasn’t.
No, no. He was just pretending to be his friend so he could kill him in front of his family to take revenge. There was absolutely nothing else.
Right?
It didn’t matter anyway, he just had to last a month or two, and then he could put his plans into action.
Seemed simple enough to him, at least.
Notes:

Chapter Text
Only the third day into pretending to be Tommy’s imaginary friend, Schlatt noticed that something was seriously wrong.
He had come back that afternoon, only to find that Tommy was nowhere to be found. In fact, the house was completely silent. That’s when Schlatt had become concerned. “Tommy?” he tried apprehensively, as if just saying his name would have terrible consequences.
No response.
Shit. He was supposed to be home from kindergarten by now, right? Schlatt took a look around the empty house to make sure the kid was hiding anywhere, only finding his brothers in their fucking rooms, before teleporting to Tommy’s location, because, as a demon, he could do that.
He regained consciousness to a very over-colourful area filled with children’s toys and upbeat music. He recoiled for a moment, before remembering what he had come here to do. Snapping around for any movement, he quickly spotted his target, who was curled up alone in the far corner under a desk with his face buried in his arms.
The only other person in the room was the teacher asleep at her desk. Schlatt glared at the woman, before softening his gaze and slowly approaching Tommy.
“Hey, kid,” he said, awkwardly placing a hand on the child’s knee. “Are you okay?”
Tommy looked up, and Schlatt swore he would have murdered that lady right then and there. His face was all red and puffy, with tears still pouring down his cheeks and his short legs utterly soaked in the wetness. “S-Sch-Schlatt…?” he stuttered.
“Hey, hey hey! Please don’t cry, buddy! What happened?” he asked frantically, not wanting to alert anyone else to his presence.
Tommy sniffled a few times. “D-Dadza forgot about me, didn’t he…?”
Anger unwillingly bubbled inside him as he realised he knew the answer. First, Phil was already an awful person. Now, he can’t even take care of his youngest child properly?! “No no! He didn’t forget about you kid, he just….sent me to pick you up, I’ll take you home.”
Tommy’s eyes widened. “You’ll do that?” He sounded so uncertain that it almost made the demon’s heart break. But only almost.
“Yeah, c’mon kid.” Schlatt lifted the small boy into his arms and rested him on his hip. He casually left the classroom, making sure not to step too loudly so as not to wake the teacher. If there was some sign-off sheet that needed to be signed, that was Phil’s problem. “How was your day at school?” he asked.
Tommy instantly brightened. “It was great!”
Well, his version of simple enough did not come out as Tommy being forgotten at kindergarten again for the next fucking week, with only a one day interval.
At that point, Schlatt was fuming . He already hated this family with a burning passion, but now all he wanted to do was watch them fucking tortured until the end of time.
But Tommy was somehow still attached to them despite the neglect.
“No, Schlatt!” he had cried when Schlatt first threatened to kill Phil after he had to take him home for the third time. “Please don’t kill Dadza! I love him! You can’t ever kill him!”
With some reluctance, Schlatt had reassured the little boy that he wouldn’t, though he was confused as to why Tommy loved them so much when they kept forgetting about him. Not to mention that his brothers spent more time in their rooms than anywhere else, and the unusual times that they did interact with Tommy, it usually ended up with him being snapped at.
None of them even listened to what he was doing in the house. Schlatt found that out the hard way when Tommy was fooling around in the kitchen and a knife dropped on his arm. Schlatt very nearly had a heart attack, but the other three people in the house (yes, all three of them were home ) didn’t so much as walk into the room to see what the scream was. Nothing happened in the long minutes when Schlatt was patching up his arm, and no one even mentioned the bandage on his arm afterwards.
And tonight, it looked like they completely forgot that he even existed, because no one was home, and Tommy was hungry.
“Where’s Dadza?” he asked quietly. “I’m kinda hungry….”
Schlatt suppressed a curse at Phil, but he took a deep breath and replied quickly, “you know what, I’ll make you dinner. Anything in particular you want?”
Tommy shrugged. Schlatt sighed and turned to the kitchen to make a couple fried eggs, curses and threats towards the rest of the Watson family shooting through his head faster than light.
That was the very moment that he realised he didn’t want to kill the child.
And also the moment he realised that Tommy didn’t deserve to be in this family.
“Hey, so uh,” he piped up as he pulled out a frying pan from hell knows where. “Tommy, do you want to come back to my place tonight?” It was never a question he’d usually ask anyone, but for Tommy, for this poor, neglected kid, he felt like it was a moral obligation now.
"I have a big house with everything you want: your favourite movie, your favourite food and your favourite sweets, I even have an extremely comfortable bed,” he offered, silently praying that the child would say yes, though he felt like a creepy kidnapper asking.
"Silly Schlatt,” Tommy giggled. “Dadza isn’t home, and he always tells me not to go to someone's house without him!"
Schlatt’s face dropped. “Are you sure? It’s gotta be better than staying here baby yourself.”
Tommy laughed. “I won’t be alone! I’ll have you!”
Schlatt smiled defeatedly. “Yeah. Yeah, I suppose you do. Come eat your eggs.”
He sighed as he set the plate down in front of Tommy as he ran to the table. “I’m sorry no one else is here, Toms.”
Tommy looked up at him with innocent eyes, mouth full of egg, and shrugged. “It’s fine. I’m kinda used to them being out all the time and being alone here, so it’s okay!”
Schlatt tensed at the boy’s words. That was odd. Like, really, really odd. He was too young to even realise that the three were neglecting him. He thought it was normal that he was usually on his own at only four years old .
You know, it’s hard to be a demon already. He really didn’t need to be suppressing even more rage towards the other Watsons. Though what he was seeing and hearing was really making it hard.
Schlatt snorted. "It's not okay, kid. Your family should be looking out for you, ya know?”
The next words Tommy said might as well have torn Schlatt’s heart out and ripped it to pieces.
“But I have you, don’t I?”
Schlatt could’ve cried right then and there. “Y-yeah, I suppose you do. Come on, you should probably go to bed.”
Tommy groaned. “Aww, do I have to?”
Schlatt smiled. “Well, yeah! Your dad will be home for the weekend, so you’ve got a big day of fun tomorrow!”
Tommy grumbled, but nodded tiredly and let Schlatt guide him down the hallway to his bedroom. “G’night, Schlatt,” he mumbled quietly, a noise that many wouldn’t hear, but Schlatt wasn’t just anybody. He chuckled and closed the boy’s door with a soft “good night, kid.”
Schlatt felt sick and excited at the same time to be back in his own realm, long after Tommy had fallen asleep.
His sister-in-law Niki was at the door to greet him. “Schlatt! You’re back, finally. Come inside! I’ll make some tea.”
“Thanks, Niki.” He stepped inside. “Satan, you have no idea how interesting my week’s been.”
“Yeah?” Niki waved her hand, and the kettle on the bench instantly steamed. “How goes your revenge plans? Gotten to Tommy yet?”
Schlatt paused. “Yeah, about that. That’s kind of why I came to see you guys tonight.”
Niki turned to look at him. “What do you mean?”
Schlatt gave a nervous shrug. “Well, I might have gotten attached.”
“HA!” came from up the hallway. Dream poked his head around the corner. “I knew it! I told you he would get attached!”
Schlatt rolled his eyes. “In my defense, it was hard not to! I bet none of you know how he’s being treated by his own fucking family! I’ll tell you, it’s awful! It’s like he doesn’t exist to those three. I’ve had to take him home from kindergarten the past fucking week because they forgot, and tonight I made him dinner because no one was home.”
Niki started, almost dropping the kettle. “What? You mean they forgot to feed him?”
Schlatt nodded. “You think you already hate someone as much as possible, then they go and do something and it just makes you livid . Tommy deserves so much better than those three.”
Dream at this point had literal fire in his bright green eyes. Niki looked like she could kick a bull (she probably could). Then Niki said something Schlatt never expected she would do.
“What if we take him as our own kid?”
Schlatt choked on his spit. “ What?!”
Niki snorted. “Take him as your son! You’ve always wanted a kid of your own, and you’re like a second father to Tubbo and Ranboo, he’ll, maybe even Dream!” The demon in question gave a small huff of agreement. “He’ll turn into a demon soon enough if you bring him here. All you have to do is convince him to go with you.”
“Wha- no no I can’t- they still have- what??” Schlatt was rambling over his words. Take Tommy as a son? He only met him a couple weeks ago, he couldn’t— but could he?
Dream quirked an eyebrow at him. “Come on, you know you want to! I’d like a little cousin.”
Schlatt sighed and glared at him. “Yeah, I guess I do. I’ll pop the question tomorrow, he’s asleep.”
Both Niki and Dream cheered, waking a very tired-looking Tubbo. After coaxing him back to bed, the two demons made another, more quiet cheer session.
Schlatt snorted. “Why are you two so excited about this? You’ve never met him.”
Niki shrugged. “I’ve seen him before as a little baby while I was……we’ll say stalking the Watsons. He was very cute, and goodness knows a baby would do you some good in your life.”
Schlatt rolled his eyes. “Alright, alright. We’ll see how it goes.”
A new kid here, huh? Looks like Tubbo and Ranboo are getting a new friend.
