Chapter 1: Ready for a New Adventure?
Chapter Text
Being an only child was hard growing up, and made roadtrips awfully boring. You had earned your parents’ trust by proving responsibility. To run free around Hawkins was not uncharacteristic for you. Heck you had even become a secondary sibling to so many of your friends in Hawkins with all the adventures and chaos you’d experienced with them. Now it was the 4th of July weekend, your parents had road tripped out to Salt Lake City, with you in tow. The plan was to spend the holiday with your extended family. You always loved seeing your cousins on your dad’s side of the family. The Utah Binghams were wild, loud, rowdy, but strict. Many times when you would get together with your cousins, you could recall one or many of them being scolded for having too much fun.
Pulling up to the house, you could see the chaos from down the road. Children filling the front yard, decorations everywhere and fireworks being prematurely set off. Your parents car came to a stop, and shifted into park. Opening your door of the car you heard Eden shout, “Y/N!” You threw your arms open ready for a hug. As much as Eden was the rebellious child of her family, she had the softest spot for you. Likely because you two were close in age, only a grade apart. She would be a senior this fall, and you would be a junior.
Your parents grabbed luggage and met your aunt and uncle with hugs of their own. Eden dragged you up the stairs and to her room, she couldn’t wait to catch up. Honestly, your visit would be the highlight of her Summer. As the two of you giggled up towards her room another voice called for you, “Y/N!” You turn to see Suzie. Eden rolls her eyes, “Jesus Suze, can I have like 5 minutes with Y/N?” Suzie deflated, “I just wanted to say “hi” to her Eden. Not like she won’t be here all weekend.” You turned to Eden, “It’s totally fine, I’ll be up in a second.” Eden wrinkled her nose and climbed the stairs to her attic bedroom.
You hugged Suzie. You were also Suzie’s favorite cousin. This was because you saw her as her own person and didn’t lump her in the bunch of ‘Bingham children.’ You smiled at her, “It’s good to see you Suzie.” “You too”, she replied, “Do you think you could find some time for you and I later?” You knit your brows, “Is everything okay?” Suzie sighed, “Yeah, I just need to talk to someone who would understand. I think Eden would get it, but she kinda wrote me off.” Look of confusion was still on your face, “Okay? Well let me go catch Eden. Promise we will catch up about this later.” Suzie nodded, “Thank you.”
Climbing the stairs to Eden’s room, she called out, “Hey Traitor.” You laughed, “Shut up, Eden! There’s so many of you, can’t help it, everyone wants to see me.” Eden laughed too, “You know I’m kidding.” You flopped into a bean bag chair on the floor while Eden tossed in a mix tape. You cleared your throat, “Do you know what’s going on with Suzie?” Eden shrugged, “I honestly don’t know.” You bit your lip, “I never understood why you and her weren’t close.” Eden turned on her heels and glared at you, but you held firm that you weren’t going to back down. Eden let out a sigh and gave in, “Early on, Dad pitted me and Suzie against each other. I’m smart, but Suzie is a whole other level. It’s not even Suzie’s fault, but I just can’t support her the way she needs. It’s like this unspoken constant competition. I really do love her and want her to do well, I promise.” You started to “awwww.” Eden snapped, “But if you ever tell her, you’re dead!” You laughed as she continued, “She likes you better than me anyway. Maybe you should take her?” You shrugged, “Wouldn’t hate having a sibling.”
The two of you caught up, all about school, and events. Eden told you about all the schools she was applying to for early admission for college, and how she couldn’t wait to get out of this household. She had dreams of being an artist, running around with punk and metal bands, and finally being free of “this Jesus loving household”, by her own definition. You told her all about your friendship with Nancy and Robin, and how Steve was going to be a senior this year, while all his rugrats would be starting as freshmen. Eden chuckled, “Yeah, can’t believe Suzie is going to be a freshman too!” You let out a deflated sigh, “How is it that Suzie is a freshman?! We all grew up.” Eden laughed, “Yeah, happens to the best of us.” The two of you fell into gossip and laughter for hours until it got dark and you were all called down for a bonfire before the fireworks.
Most of the smaller children gained a sugar rush from the smores, they bounced as they all waited for neighborhood fireworks to begin. Suzie decided to sit by you, Eden looked at Suzie, then you and chose to excuse herself. You bumped Suzie’s shoulder with yours, “Hey brain (your special nickname for her), good to see you.” She leaned against you, “I’m really glad you’re here.” You could sense melancholy in her tone as she continued, “I really need to talk to you.”
You both looked around to make sure the coast was clear, Suzie leaned in and whispered, “I’m not happy here.” You knit your brows, “Did something happen?” Suzie shook her head, “No, I just don’t feel like I fit in here. Feels like every time I do something great, it still isn’t enough for my dad. I’m also having struggles with my faith. I don’t think I want to be in Utah.” You giggled, “Brain, I don’t think anyone wants to be in Utah.” She giggled, “I’ve been meaning to ask, do you think there might be room for me in Hawkins?” You blinked in disbelief, “You want to move? To Hawkins? Foooorrrrr?” “For High School”, Suzie filled in the blanks for you, “I just don’t think I’d be accepted here. And I overheard you telling Eden about some kids, they sound closer being, well nerds, like me.” There was silence as you absorbed what Suzie was saying, what she was asking. “Suzie, do you really think moving is what you want? To start over?” She nodded, ”I don’t think SLC High will be for me. Unless you don’t want me in Hawkins.” You shook your head, “No, I’d love to have you in Hawkins. We’d be at the same school this year and next. But I want to make sure this is what you want before you talk to anyone else.” Suzie nodded, “I’ve been thinking about it for three months, and figured you visiting might be the right time to bring this up.”
Fireworks lit up the sky, interrupting the rest of Suzie’s planned conversation. You were grateful for the break. Was she actually thinking this through? She’d be leaving all of her siblings here. Although your parents didn’t particularly practice, you all still celebrated Christmas and Easter. But Suzie was devout, or rather had been. It was an absolute shock to hear she was questioning her practice. You wanted to be supportive, but thought it best if maybe she slept on it. You both leaned back and did your best to enjoy the fireworks.
The last firework popped, and the last sparkler sizzled out, it was time for bed. The house of Binghams was loud and bright as all the kids ran around to get their nighttime rituals complete. Screaming and laughing slowly started to quiet, lights being turned out one by one. Bedroom doors gently closing, leaving the hallways of the home quiet. You crawled into a sleeping bag on Eden’s bedroom floor, it was dark but you and her were both still awake.
Eden cleared her throat, “Y/N?” You whispered back, “Yes, Eden?” The silence lingered as footsteps approached and then disappeared, Eden asked, “Did Suzie talk to you about moving to Hawkins?” You sat up, “How do you know?” Eden admitted, “I’ve known for a while Suze wasn’t happy here. I guess I knew this was coming.” In the dark, Eden could still see the features of your face, your brows knit and she continued, “I told her in June that if you didn’t want her around that she’d have to accept her fate of being here.” “Why is this on me?” Eden clarified, “It’s not, but I know if she goes, she is going to need someone to look out for her. She thinks of you as a sister more than me.” You laid your head back down and rolled over. You loved Suzie and you wanted her to thrive, but you needed to sleep on this.
You woke the next morning in a panic to children screaming below you, sounded like things being smashed and crashed into. Eden rolled over at the sounds, she was used to the chaos. You slipped out of your sleeping bag and made your way down to the lower floor. Your cousins were screaming in excitement. You made your way to the main floor to find your parents, and aunt & uncle, all of them laughing at the chaos around them. “Good morning Y/N”, your aunt sang as you walked through the doorway. You gave a gentle wave, “Morning. What’s up?” Your mother laughed, “Oh we are taking you and your cousins to the pool today. Clearly the littles are excited.”
You turn to walk into the kitchen to grab something to eat. Leaning against the counter, you admire your cousins Tabitha & Sterling. Tabitha is in her swimsuit, and wrapped up like a 20’s hollywood starlet. Sterling is feeding her ego with his camera as he yells to Tabitha, “Perfect, work the angles! The camera loves you!” You giggle to yourself, they were always the dramatic ones of the family. Suzie hopped on the counter next to you, “Hey Y/N” “Morning Brain”, you responded taking a bite of a toaster waffle. “I’m sorry about yesterday”, Suzie started, “I didn’t mean to put all that on you. And I get if you don’t want me to come to Hawk-” You interrupted her, “Suze, you clearly thought about this. I actually think you’d be a great fit in Hawkins, I think you might get along with some of the rugrats.” Suzie lit up, but you gave a warning, “If you want this, YOU have to ask my parents. I’m not going to ask for you. We leave the day after tomorrow. So use your time wisely.” You walked away from the counter, leaving Suzie to herself.
The pool was what everyone needed on this hot Summer day. You and Eden spent the day in inflatable rings, relaxing and enjoying the cool water. All of the youngins around you were splashing, jumping in, and screaming their heads off. Both sets of parents sat under a shady umbrella of a table on the side. Eden reached for a handle of your inflatable tube and pulled you close to her, “Did Suze talk to you again?” You nodded, keeping your eyes shut under your sunglasses, “But I told her if she wants this that SHE has to ask my parents.” Eden sat up, her tube sloshing under her as she adjusted, “Wait, you’re like all for this?” You nodded again, “If she wants it, I won’t stop her. Actually think she might get along well. Some of Harrington’s kids are into AV and tech stuff, might be a good fit for her.” Eden was quiet and you sighed, “Eden, what is it?” Eden’s response was quiet, “I just want Suzie to be happy.” You lifted your sunglasses to look at Eden, “She will be, and who knows, maybe this will be good for you too.” You heard the sadness in Eden, at the idea that Suzie would actually be gone, it broke your heart to see two of your cousins so unhappy but for different reasons.
The afternoon sun grew hotter, but it was time to pack up. You helped your aunt collect all the pool toys the younger kids refused to pick up, you grabbed the sprawled out towels, and loaded your arms full of the beach bags that carried it all. Placing everything into the various car trunks, your mom pulled you aside, “Y/N, can I talk to you?” You nodded, “What’s up mom?” She smirked, “Well, Suzie asked me and your father this morning about what we thought of her returning to Hawkins with us. She wants to attend high school with you.” Your mom was silent, trying to read your face for any reaction to this, “But we want to know what you think about that? We’d be trusting you, heck, your aunt and uncle would also be trusting that you’d look out for her and have her best interests.” “Well”, you began, “I don’t hate the idea. I think she’d fit in. Hawkins is strange enough, and Steve’s rugrats might be a good friend group for her.”
Your mother pulled you in for a hug, “I knew we could count on you, Y/N.” You were confused, “What do you mean?” Your mom confessed,”We have seen Suzie unhappy for so long. So for her to know she doesn’t want to be here, and that you’d accept her coming back with us. Just thank you for being open to it.” You nodded, and loaded yourself into the car, realizing that you just agreed to become a pseudo sister. You just gave yourself a responsibility that you hadn’t experienced before, but you still didn’t hate the idea. Sure you had helped keep Steve’s children safe, but they weren’t yours, they had their own respective families and homes to return to every night. Suzie would indeed be your responsibility to protect and look out for.
You spent the final day helping Suzie pack up clothes and things in her room. Your aunt and mom ran boxes of trinkets, and books to a shipping store nearby. They’d be set to arrive a few days after the four of you got home to Hawkins. Zipping up luggage and handing it to your uncle who went to pack your parent’s car. Eden stood in the doorway as Suzie grabbed her backpack, “You uhhh think you’ll miss me?” Suzie tried to be strong as she approached Eden, “You are my sister, I will miss you. I’m sorry we couldn’t be closer, but I would like to write or call when I’m settled.” Eden suddenly had tears running down her face, “Suzie, I don’t want you to think I hate you. I never have, but this was never easy.” Suzie shhh’d her as she embarrassed Eden, because she understood the competitive stress their father put on the two of them.
It was time to leave the Utah Binghams. You hugged all of your cousins, your aunt and uncle, and finally Eden. You always said your goodbyes to her last. While the two of you were in a hug, she whispered, “Take care of her for me.” You nodded and squeezed Eden a little tighter. Suzie’s goodbyes were more teary eyed. Loading into the car, you and Suzie settled in. Looking at her you asked, “Ready for a new adventure?” With tears in her eyes, she nodded, “Feels weird to leave, but I can’t thrive here.” You grabbed her hand and squeezed it. Your parents’ doors closed, and the engine rumbled. Suzie waved goodbye as the car pulled out from the driveway, she was eager and terrified.

Chapter Text
The trip back to Hawkins took a couple days of driving. Your dad sang to every song on the radio, your mom fell into her romance novel, and you & Suzie played games and napped. It wasn’t uncommon for your mom to request a stop at some roadside tourist attraction. Making sure to take family photos to help incorporate Suzie to this new set up. You saw some of the weirdest things at these stops that would make for good inside jokes between you and Suzie during the rest of the trip.
Driving through your neighborhood, Suzie was zoned out watching other kids on their bikes and playing in the street. She wondered if any of these kids were the ones you mentioned in your stories, they weren’t but you’d ensure she met them later. Pulling into the garage, your dad parking the car next to your moms. There was a third car Suzie hadn’t remembered the last time she visited, “Whose car is that?” You laughed, “Oh that’s mine. Got my license a few months back.” Suzie’s eyes lit up, she thought it was so cool that you could drive, Eden had always been nervous to drive. You had looked forward to the freedom of driving, it would make it easier to shuttle Suzie & her new potential friends.
Unloading yourselves from the car, you grabbed multiple bags of Suzie’s when a familiar voice called out, “Welcome home Y/N!” You turn to see it’s Nancy and Jonathan. You put the bags down and run up to the side of their car, “Hey guys!” Nancy nods her head, “Who’s that with you?” You look over your shoulder, “Oh, that’s my cousin Suzie. She’s uhhh moving in with us.” Jonathan’s eyebrows knit. You laughed, “I promise I will explain later, but any chance you all want to hang out soon? Would love to get Suzie acclimated to the other kiddos.” Nancy smiled, “Yeah, of course. You know the Wheeler house always has room.” Jonathan chimed in, “But Dustin won’t be there.” You tilted your head, “Oh?” “Yeah”, Jonathan continued, “Will said he went to some smart kid camp. Guess he gets back right before school starts.” You waved your hand, “Oh well, I’m sure it won’t matter to Suzie. But let me unpack and help her get settled. I’ll call you guys later, okay?” They both nodded and took off.
You unpacked your own holiday trip bag, and walked across the hall to one of the spare rooms that would now be Suzie’s bedroom. You leaned in her doorway and gently knocked, “Hey brain, how’s the unpacking going?” Suzie sighed, “I didn’t realize how much stuff I really had”, as she hangs up another shirt of hers and puts it away. You walked over and started pulling things from her bags, folding them and helping her organize her clothes. Although Suzie was eager to be out of Utah, you couldn’t imagine her adjustment here would be easy.
Over the next month and then some, you had spent time introducing Suzie to your friends. This included Steve, Robin, Nancy, Jonathan and Steve’s kids; Will, Mike, Lucas, Max & El. Dustin was still away at camp. In the meantime, Suzie seemed to be fitting in. She even attempted a few campaigns of Dungeons and Dragons (D&D). The group seemed to like her well enough to ask her to keep playing. With Max & El, she got along through shopping and teen heartthrobs they all giggled over. Max and El each had their own talents of being strong young ladies, that they accepted and adored Suzie for being smart, if not smarter than most of the boys.
All in all, it felt like the perfect combination. You’d be able to hang out with your friends, and Suzie could hang out with her new friends at the same time. You and Suzie spent the rest of your Summer riding around, hanging with friends, and getting her acclimated to Hawkins. Suzie seemed to blossom in the short time she had been with you and your family. With late night conversations in the other’s room, silly makeovers, and jamming to new music you had shown her. You and Suzie started feeling more like siblings than cousins.
A few days before school started, your mom had insisted that you and Suzie go register for your classes, and then meet her at the Starcourt Mall for back to school clothes shopping. Hopping into your car, Suzie was quick to whip out a mixtape and tossed it in. The opening cords began as you pulled out of the driveway, they were heavier than you anticipated from Suzie’s recent interest in music you had shown her, but they struck a chord in you. This was stuff even you hadn’t heard before. “Hey”, you called to Suzie over the music, “Who is this?” Suzie looked over to you, “Oh this is some local band. Coffin something? I can’t remember. Picked it up when Max and I went to the music store. But they’re good right?” You nodded, “This is amazing!” The two of you kept jamming to the tape as you pulled into the Hawkins High parking lot.
Your windows had been down long enough that others could hear what you were playing as you pulled in, but the song was recognizable to a certain someone- Eddie Munson. He had stopped in the middle of his conversation and whipped his head around to see where it was coming from. He recognized his own song, and his own musical talents coming from somewhere in the lot. But he was too late, the music had stopped. There were too many cars in the lot, too many bodies to know who would have been playing. He saw you get out of your car, he recognized you from the prior years in the hallways of the high school. He always thought you were pretty, but noticed the group you hung out with and figured you wouldn’t be caught dead with someone like him. Then he saw Suzie, he hadn’t seen her before, but didn’t recall you having a sister. It would be on his mind the rest of the day. He turned back to finish his conversation, but not without watching you out of the corner of his eye as you entered the school.
Opening the door to the school, you helped Suzie get registered, you both got your schedules and compared. Seemed like she’d have quite a few of her classes near yours, which was great so you could walk her to them while she gets adjusted to the hallways. You and Suzie would also have the same lunch, which put Suzie at ease. As you were getting your parking pass for the year, someone called out, “Suzie the SLAYER!” You both turned to see it was Mike and Will, they were accompanied by Nancy & Jonathan. You all laughed and met in the middle. Suzie caught up with Mike and Will about classes, and she pointed out there is a club in the school called HellFire. Mike chimed in and explained it’s supposed to be a D&D club. Will mentioned that the leader of the club was a second attempt senior, or at least that’s what Jonathan had told him. Now knowing that it was D&D, Suzie added her name to the HellFire list. It would be exciting that all of the kids would be freshman this year and get to experience new things together.
You fell into conversation with Nancy and Jonathan about your own classes. Jonathan had Art & English Literature with you. Nancy would have World History with you. You were happy with that since that was already half your classes, maybe Robin would have a few with you too. It would be rare that Steve would have a class with you since he would be a senior this year. You spotted the clock and realized it was time to head to Starcourt. You politely wrapped your conversation with Nancy and Jonathan, agreeing to hang out tomorrow with the group.
“Hey Brain”, you called to Suzie, “Time to go!” “Later guys”, she said to Mike and Will. The two of you were giggling and chatting about seeing everyone tomorrow for an End of Summer party at Steve’s. You were so busy laughing that you ran into the chest of the HellFire leader, letting out an “Ooof.” He had put his hands around your arms to prevent you from falling backwards, you looked up at him, “Oh hey”, you could feel heat in your cheeks, “I’m so sorry about that.” Eddie slowly let go of your arms once he realized you were stable, “Maybe you should watch where you’re going Bingham.” Suzie glared at him, she could have sworn she saw pink in his cheeks too. You let out a nervous laugh, “Won’t let it happen again Munson.” You sidestepped around him, grabbing Suzie’s hand and exiting back to the parking lot.
Once you were out of sight, Jeff and Gareth let out, “OOOOOOOOOO!” Eddie whipped around, “Shut it!” The other two members laughed, “Give it up, we both know you like her.” Eddie rolled his eyes, “Whatever, you don’t know shit.” Jeff bumped his shoulder, “Yeah, you were planning to ask her to prom last year.” “Chickened out claiming that because she was a sophomore last year, it would have been weird”, Gareth chimed in. Eddie snapped, “I had a date with my supplier, wouldn’t have worked out a lot of reasons.” Eddie waved his hand to dismiss the two, he got his class schedule, and then went to check out the sign up list for HellFire Club. He recognized the last names of Wheeler and Byers, but he tore the list from the table when he saw your last name on the list, “Bingham.” He quickly put the paper back on the table before others could see what he was holding onto and went to register for his own classes.
On your way to Starcourt, Suzie kept flickering her eyes between you and the road. Although the music was loud, she filtered it out. You laughed, “Suze, what is it? You’ve been weird since we left the school.” She nervously chuckled, “Uhh so who was that long haired boy with the HellFire shirt?” “Oh”, you let out, surprised by her question, “Umm that’s Eddie Munson. He’s the leader of HellFire Club. Why?” “Well, he didn’t seem to mind that you bumped into him”, Suzie admitted. Knitting your brows, but doing your best to keep your attention on the road, “What do you mean? I bumped into him and then we left.” Suzie rolled her eyes, “You clearly didn’t see the way he looked at you.” Your cheeks flushed at the thought of Eddie liking you. You had always found him handsome, but he always seemed to steer clear of you.
Pulling into a spot at Starcourt, you stopped Suzie before she could get out, “Remember, this is your chance to be anything you want. I promise to give you my honest opinion of anything you try on.” She smiled, “Thank you, Y/N.” “Alright, let’s go meet mom so we can shop”, you nudged her. Your mom was parked just a few cars down, greeting you both with hugs. She asked about school schedules for the year. Suzie started, “Oh I have a few classes with Mike and Will and Y/N and I have the same lunch. I think we are all comparing final schedules tomorrow at Steve’s?” She looked to you for confirmation and you nodded, “Yeah, we have the end of Summer thing at Steve’s tomorrow.” Your mom squinted at you, “Don’t worry mom, I will help Suze make a copy of her schedule that can afford to be scribbled on.” Your mom nodded and seemed happy by your response.
The three of you spent hours in Starcourt Mall. Trying on a plethora of clothing options for the new school year. Most of your clothes from last year were still good, but your mother insisted on a few new things since so many of your t-shirts became worn. You got some new jeans, a handful of new t-shirts, mostly with bands on them you liked, and a couple of cardigans to pair with a variety of outfits. Suzie got her first pair of jeans, she had previously worn only skirts due to her deeply religious family. She got some t-shirts as well, a few dresses that were more her speed and some new sneakers and boots that looked similar to what you had at home.
After the mall was a stop at an office supply store. You and Suzie picked out notebooks, folders, pens, pencils. Suzie was a binder type of girl and picked out a few of those. Then you each selected a backpack, Suzies was more realistic with pockets coming out the wazoo. While you chose a simpler style, a few pockets on the side, but two spacious interior sections to fit your notebooks and textbooks. You both seemed ready to take on your junior and her freshman year at Hawkins High.
Dustin had gone late to registration that day, he had just gotten back into Hawkins earlier that morning, and was exhausted. He got his class schedule, signed up for HellFire like Mike & Will had told him to. His friends had welcomed him back to Hawkins with open arms and a small party of his own at the Henderson residence. He was also curious about who Suzie Bingham was. Luckily Mike, Will, Lucas, Max and El had filled him in about who Suzie was and how she was now a part of your family here in Hawkins. Dustin went ahead and compared schedules with the other freshman since he was going to be missing the end of Summer party at Steve’s tomorrow. Due to his long absence of being at camp, his day tomorrow would be filled with back to school shopping and doctor appointments. But his friends agreed they’d meet up on the first day of school.

Chapter Text
The End of Summer party always started the same, you would all compare class schedules and by midmorning, you all were in the pool for a final Summer swim. This year was different since you had the freshmen there. Mike, Will and Lucas wrangled Steve & Jonathan into having a water gun fight. While all the girls laid out on the loungers, or floated around in the pool. This was the last day of Summer and it should be spent carefree.
As you laid next to Robin in inflatable tubes, Suzie walked up to the edge of the pool, “Hey Y/N.” You lifted your sunglasses to look at her, “What’s up Brain?” She got shy, “Who is Dustin?” You looked around, realizing he wasn’t there today, “Oh, he’s another one who will be a freshman with you this year.” Robin chimed in, “Heard he got back early yesterday from camp, and today he had to do stuff.” Suzie nodded, “Oh okay, the rest of the boys have talked about him so much. I guess I expected to have met him by now.” You paddled your way to the edge of the pool to meet Suzie, “Don’t worry, you will. Tomorrow we will meet with everyone before classes.” Max chimed in from the edge of the pool, “I heard he had tons of advanced classes, good chance you will share at least one class with him Suze.” Max gave her an encouraging smile.
The Summer sun had started to fall, which meant, it was time to head home. You and Suzie said goodbyes, still agreeing to meet at school early so friends could walk with each other to classes. Getting into your car and heading home, Suzie seemed quiet. “Hey”, you nudged her, “Are you doing okay?” She hummed, “Yeah, I’m just a bit nervous for tomorrow.” You did your best to reassure her, “It’s okay. I know this is a big change. And tons of your classes are near mine, so I won’t let you get lost.” She smiled, “Promise?” Holding out your pinky so she can wrap hers around yours, you responded, “I pinky promise.”
The first day of school was always daunting. You and Suzie had pre packed everything last night for a smooth morning. You decided the first day was still warm enough for black denim shorts, and one of your white band t shirts with your chucks, you tossed your hair into a messy bun. Suzie went with jeans, a white shirt and chucks that matched yours. She was almost a miniature you. You jammed to another one of the tapes Suzie had gotten, it was a mix of Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Joan Jett and Whitesnake.
Eddie had just parked, grabbing his own backpack. Pulling out crumbled papers from last year and replacing them with new notebooks, he tossed in some pencils and felt he was prepared with his schedule in hand. As he closed his van door, your car pulled in. Windows down, he recognized the song, but it wasn’t one of his own. It did make him think about when he heard his own band’s, Corroded Coffin, song playing the other day at registration. Was it you who had been playing it? He watched you park a few spots down, and get out of the car. Your smile was radiant as you laughed with the young girl who was with you again.
Jeff smacked Eddie’s shoulder, scaring Eddie and bringing him to yell out, “Son of a Bitch!’ The entire parking lot turned to see what had happened. Eddie’s face went red when he saw you were staring at him with concern. He turned to Jeff as the rest of the school went back to what they were doing, “What the hell man?” Jeff laughed, “Gareth dared me.” Eddie glared at both of them. “If you stare at Y/N any harder, your eyes are going to fall out”, Gareth chimes in, “Couldn’t resist.” “You’re both dicks,'' Eddie mumbled. But all three of them laughed as they headed towards the school. Eddie’s eyes followed you until you were no longer in his peripheral vision.
“Damn Y/N”, Robin called as you approached. Steve let out a small wolf whistle. You blushed, “Stop it! It’s still plenty warm to wear shorts. I mean all the cheerleaders wear their skirts” Robin smirked, “Yeah, but it still looks good on you.” “Thanks”, you smirked. You and Suzie said hellos to the rest of the group. Then Nancy pulled on your arm, “Hey, so I have a favor to ask.” Your brows knit, “Sure, what’s up?” Nancy felt a bit shy, “Well you know it’s the first day, so all the clubs meet after school. Jonathan & I have the newspaper, but Mike & Will have HellFire. Is there any chance you can shuttle them home tonight?” You nodded, “Of course. Suzie is actually going to HellFire’s meeting tonight. So I’d have to get her anyway.” Nancy hugged you, “Oh my gosh, thank you! Seriously! We want to take all of our new staff for pizza and just can’t guarantee we’ll be done in time to come back.” You reassured her, “Think nothing of it.”
You all broke apart to get to your respected classes. You and Jonathan had art first, both of you took Suzie to her first class since it was a few doors down. You gave her a thumbs up as she went into her class. Jonathan bumped your shoulder, “You’ve really become her sister huh?” You laughed, “I guess I have.” “It looks good on you”, he replied. Pulling into your class, your teacher, Ms. Jeffries, stood at her desk. Watching everyone take a seat next to friends, then she announced, “Everyone get up. You will have assigned seats.”
The entire class let out a collective sigh knowing no one would get to sit next to who they wanted to. Luckily Jonathan was right in front of you, but one of the cocky jocks was next to him. Which you both didn’t hate, but you both would have preferred to have each other as company for this class. You were somehow alone at your two person table, and everyone envied you. Until a fluffy haired rocker walked in the room. “Nice of you to join us, Mr. Munson”, Ms. Jeffries announced. You whipped your head to see Eddie, his backpack precariously planted on one shoulder as he looked around the room. Ms. Jeffries looked in your direction, “Munson, your seat will be next to Ms. Bingham.”
The class watched him walk over and sit in the chair next to you. Once he sat and saw everyone still staring, he quipped, “Take a picture, it will last longer.” This made you giggle and he turned to you, “You like that Bingham?” You playfully rolled your eyes, “Always something to say, Munson.” He smirked, “Just as long as you don’t bump into me again.” Ms. Jeffries started class, today would be focused on art history, rather than creating anything yourselves yet. You quietly slipped a note to Eddie. He opened it to read, “Won’t let it happen again Munson.” He hid it well, but Eddie was really glad he was late to class today. Now he got to enjoy one of his classes.
The first few classes came and went, it was finally time for lunch. You had waited and went through the line with Suzie, then led her to the table full of familiar faces. The cafeteria was booming with sound as friends gossiped about classes, caught up on over the Summer events and trips, and already some pairing off into couples. But your friends and the table you all shared was a little slice of heaven. As many of the freshmen started to eat, a familiar face plopped down next to you. Dustin’s curls bounced as he took his seat and nudged you, “Hey Y/N!” “Henderson”, you exclaimed, “Glad you’re back in one piece. I’d like you to meet my cousin, Suzie.” Dustin extended his hand across the table, and Suzie’s hand slid into his, “Dustin Henderson, nice to meet you.” “You as well”, Suzie replied, “I’m sorry, you’re in my advanced calc class right?” He nodded, “Yeah, I thought you looked familiar! But I didn’t realize you were Y/N’s cousin.”
Eddie watched the cafeteria from the HellFire table. Scanning the cafeteria with his roster of new members in his hand. Jeff was drawing up new looks for his warlock, and Gareth was trying to get some study questions done that he was already assigned from one of his earlier classes. “Gentlemen”, Eddie began, “seems we have quite a list this year.” Jeff looked up, “Yeah, who?” Eddie smirked, “Looks like we have all the siblings of the popular kids. Wheeler, Byers, Bingham. We also have Dustin Henderson and Lucas Sinclair, do either of them have older siblings we know?” Gareth chimed in, “I think Dustin is an only child, Lucas also signed up for basketball and you have a Bingham? Like Y/N Bingham?” Jeff snatched the list from Eddie’s hand as he exclaimed, “Hey, give that back!” Jeff examined it, “Looks like a Suzie Bingham. Hmmm didn’t realize Y/N had a sibling.” Eddie took the list back from Jeff, “Guess we’ll meet them all after school.”
Suzie and Dustin ended up having quite a few afternoon classes together. Economics, Advanced Literature, and finally Geometry. They still sat close enough to smile and wave at one another. In Econ, Dustin had sat right behind Suzie. He started off so well and focused on the class, until the afternoon sun came through the windows and gave Suzie this ethereal angelic type of glow. He looked at her differently. But Dustin’s small crush grew as Suzie answered questions correctly that no one else could seem to. She was beautiful and smart, now he just needed her attention in return.
The rest of your day went by quickly for you, you ended up with Robin and Nancy in your world history class, and Steve was in your science class. That was rare since he was a senior, most seniors took the early morning science class. Mr. Matheson was most people’s favorite teacher to have. Just as the class seemed to settle down Mr Matheson announced, “This year we will have assigned seats.” You and Steve had sat next to each other in hopes of being lab partners, you both joined the class in a loud groan of frustration. You and Steve lined the wall with your classmates as seats were directed and pointed to. Steve was one of the first to be seated, and you ended up somewhere in the middle.
As soon as you sat, Steve turned to wave to you. At least you were only two rows behind him. Then Mr. Matheson called another name, “Eddie Munson.” Your attention went from Steve to the seat next to you, you accidentally let out an audible, “Are you shitting me?” Mr. Matheson stopped in his tracks, and the class laughed at your outburst. Mr. Matheson leaned down, “Are we going to have an issue Ms. Bingham?” “I’m sorry”, you back peddled, “No, we won’t have any issues.”
Eddie was running late to class per usual, but was in the doorway for his name to be called and for your outburst. He felt hurt that you were offended to sit next to him. Eddie shyly walked to his seat next to you and sat quietly. He saw pink in your cheeks and just assumed you were mad. He leaned so only you could hear, “I didn’t realize my presence upset you. I can ask Mr. Matheson to switch me seats if-” “No”, you were quick to interrupt him, “I don’t want you to move seats.” Eddie saw your eyes weren’t full of anger, but something else and you seemed saddened by the idea that Eddie would change seats.
Mr. Matheson started the class, and Eddie passed you a note. It read, “You sure you’re okay with me so close to you princess?” You were quick to scribble back so you could focus on class. Your response read, “Yeah- what are the chances that the two classes we have, we are paired together?” He chuckled and wrote back, “Can we talk after class?” You nodded and both of you tried to focus on the lesson.
Geometry was different for Dustin. He decided to be bold and sit next to Suzie. Luckily, this class didn’t have assigned seats. Before class started Dustin and Suzie made jokes about their other shared classes. One of Suzie’s jokes was so funny that Dustin let out a snort while laughing. Suzie giggled as he quickly covered his face, “Sorry, my laugh got out of hand.” She flashed Dustin a smile, “I liked it.” She could feel a blush come across her face and she started to feel a little crush for Dustin.
The class had started, Suzie tried to look at the board and back to her notebook to stay focused. But out of the corner of her eye, she kept looking over to Dustin. It was maddening that every time she’d look, he was already looking at her.

Chapter Text
The bell rang, and you bolted for your locker. Hoping the fluffy brunette boy would forget he asked to chat after class. With your locker door open, you swapped out notebooks and textbooks for the night so you could study while Suzie and the boys were at the HellFire meeting. You wanted to be quick so you could meet up with the gang and go over what time they needed to be picked up and shuttled home.
You didn’t notice the HellFire leader lean against the lockers, “Princess Y/N”. You shrieked and he laughed. You were absolutely adorable to him. “Oh my god. I didn’t mean to scare you.” “Shit Eddie”, you began, “Sorry. I just didn’t expect you.” He rubbed the back of his neck, “My bad. But you did say we could talk after class.” You closed your locker and sighed, “Yeah, I did say that. So what’s up?” He nudged you, “I just wanted to know why you asked Mr. Matheson if he was shitting you when he announced I’d be next to you.” You were suddenly mortified, “Fuck, Eddie. I- I didn’t mean for you to hear that and it’s not what I meant.” He shrugged, “I get it, no one really likes sitting next to the freak.”
He started to walk away, but you pulled his arm and brought him closer than either of you thought. Your face went red, “I- I uhh just found it unbelievable that the two classes we have together, we are next to each other.” Eddie took a step back to provide some space and smirked, “Why is it unbelievable?” You tried to take a step back, but were against the lockers already, “We’ve just been in classes before and been in school together. I don’t know, it’s just odd that now you’re next to me in our shared classes.” Eddie could see you getting flustered by his proximity and devilishly smiled, “Maybe it’s fate princess.”
Suzie came up next to Eddie, “Y/N?” This time, she scared Eddie and he jumped back. You tried to let the blush in your cheeks settle, “Hey Suzie, let’s go meet up with everyone.” You sidestepped Eddie now that there was some space, “Bye Eddie, see you tomorrow.” You and Suzie quickly made your way down the hall. Suzie smirked, “Oh my gosh, do you like him?” “pfffft. What? No”, you tried to respond, but the uneven inflections of your tone betrayed you. Suzie laughed, “Well I think he likes you. I saw the way he looked at you during registration, and now the way he was close with you.” “Suzie”, you sighed, “Please. He isn’t interested in me.”
Approaching the whole group, Suzie decided not to say anything else. You waved as you approached, “Hey everyone!” They all greeted you. “Okay”, you started, “Which of you are my HellFire kids?” Mike, Will, Dustin & Suzie raised their hands. You nodded, “Great. Anyone know what time I need to be back to get you?” Mike chimed in, “I think six.” You shot Mike a finger gun, “Noted. Alright, then I will be back for you all then. Suzie, do you want me to take anything home?” She handed you a few textbooks, and you sent them on their way, calling out, “Boys, take care of Suze for me!”
Robin, Steve, Nancy, Max, El and Jonathan all hung back for a minute. All of you caught up until the upperclassmen each had their own directions to go. Nancy & Jonathan headed for the news room, Robin & Steve were going to work. Lucas had gone in another direction for basketball tryouts when the other freshmen went towards HellFire. This left you with Max & El. “Hey”, you nudged Max, “Anyone taking you guys home?” Max rubbed her arm, embarrassed to respond, “Billy said he was going to but I think he wanted to join a club. Any chance you can take us both home?” You nodded, “Come on, let’s go”
Heading for each respective household, the girls giggled about their first day. You chimed in when they asked you to, but let them enjoy themselves, until El said, “I think Dustin likes Suzie.” Your eyes flickered in the rearview mirror, “What?!” El hushed herself, “Oh I’m sorry, is Suzie not allowed to date?” You laughed, “No, that’s not it. That’s just exciting that someone likes her.” Max chirped, “He told Mike he eventually wants to take Suzie out.” You let out an “OOOOO!” The rest of the drop off was full of giggles.
The freshmen who remained at the school wandered down the hallway to one of the spare drama rooms that had been converted into HellFire Club. Opening the door, the room was dimly lit to imitate candlelight, and red gossamer curtains were hung everywhere. Sitting in a throne at the end of an elongated table was Eddie, Jeff and Gareth on each side like guards. “Welcome fresh meat”, Jeff called out, “Come on in.” Eddie put on the full dramatics as he asked the group if they had what it takes to fight to the death, in hopes of glory and heroic titles. Each agreed, then came the interview process where Eddie asked all four freshmen about their D&D classes. Jeff and Gareth were impressed by the time and detail that went into their characters.
Finally, it was Suzie’s chance to shine and show she was deserving of being in HellFire. No one was more impressed than Dustin, he didn’t get to see Suzie in action over the Summer. When Dustin looked to the rest of his friends, they nodded to back up that she is as incredible as she sounded. Eddie sprawled out his arm after listening to Suzie, “Pray tell young maiden, do you have a title?” Suzie looked back to Mike and Will who smiled at her as they announced in unison, “Suzie the Slayer!” Eddie laughed, “A very fitting title based on your valiant efforts.” He then stood from his throne, letting out a dramatic groan, “Well fresh meat- Welcome to HellFire.” The four of them cheered as they had been welcomed to the group.
Eddie went over HellFire’s schedule of Wednesdays and Thursdays, and every other Tuesday when his band Corroded Coffin wasn’t playing at the Hideout. “Wait, you’re Corroded Coffin?”, Suzie let out. Eddie smirked, “Yeah, that’s us. Heard of us?” Suzie lit up, “Oh my gosh, I have one of your tapes! My cousin and I have been playing it nonstop practically.” Jeff smiled, “That’s awesome, love having a fan in Hellfire.” “Hell yeah”, Gareth chimed in, “But who is your cousin?” Gareth and Jeff had a good idea that Suzie belonged to you, but wanted her to confirm it in front of Eddie. Suzie knew this was the moment to push you and Eddie closer, with a devilish grin she said, “Y/N. Y/N Bingham.” Eddie’s face went from pride to shock, and Gareth smacked his shoulder, “Told you she was cool.” Suzie wasn’t sure if Gareth was talking about her or you, but she was going to take the compliment either way.
You had pulled into the parking lot, it was still warm for the evening. You put the car in park, rolled the windows down a bit and jammed out. As one song had ended, one of the songs from the ‘Coffin’ tape as you and Suzie called it started playing. You took the opportunity to crank it up as you were alone. Head banging, hair whipping around, and matching every lyric.
As you started singing along, the kids were released from HellFire. Eddie stopped in his tracks as he could hear Corroded’s song, his own voice singing. There you were, singing along to every word, hair whipping and playing the air drums. Eddie was mesmerized by you, Suzie saw it, Dustin saw it, Jeff saw it, Gareth saw it. Eddie was down right smitten with you. Jeff nudged him, “You really think she wouldn’t like you?” Jeff was loud enough for Dustin to hear. Dustin looked at Eddie raising his eyebrow. Eddie was quick to snap, “Don’t you dare Henderson.”
Mike and Will ran up to the car, breaking you from the jam session. You turned the car off to get out, Eddie watched your every move. You smiled at Suzie, “Hey Brain, have a good time?” She nodded, “Hell yeah!” You laughed and looked to all the other freshmen who nodded to confirm Suzie was inducted to HellFire with the rest of them.
As all the kiddos piled into the car, you waved to Eddie. Jeff and Gareth looked to each other and headed towards Eddie’s van to leave you both alone for a moment. You and Eddie met in the middle, you smiled, “Thanks for welcoming Suzie.” He chuckled, “I believe her name is Suzie the Slayer.” You smirked, “Ahh yes, I suppose I should use her proper name for HellFire.” Mike rolled a window down and yelled, “Come on Y/N!” You chuckled, “Well I guess that’s my que to take them home. Thanks for taking care of them. See you in class tomorrow.”
You departed and waved to Eddie as you pulled out of the parking lot with a car full of freshmen. Each battling to be the loudest voice in the car as they told you about their night being welcomed to HellFire. Eddie smiled as he watched you drive away, your face was intent as you tried to listen to each of the kids. He was starting to realize maybe you weren’t worlds apart as you had once seemed.
Eddie made his way to the van, opening the driver’s door. He plopped into the seat and let out a small laugh. Jeff and Gareth practically mauled him. Jeff shoved Eddie’s shoulder, “You finally ask her out?” Gareth interrupted, “Nah, I bet he invited her to the Hideout though!” Eddie turned to them, “Neither.” They both made a disgusted face. “Neither?”, Jeff prompted, “You really didn’t.” He shook his head, turned the engine on, and took both the boys home before going to his own home.
Once you and Suzie got home the two of you ate dinner with your parents. Discussing the first day of school and Suzie’s initiation to HellFire Club. Your mom cleared her throat and looked at you lovingly, “And Y/N, you’ll be okay to help pick up Suzie?” You nodded, “Yes, I will be able to pick her up from her club.” Your dad smiled, “Thanks kid.” Suzie chimed in, “Yes, Thank you.” You all finished dinner quietly, and cleared the table.
You had been settled in your room, answering a few final chapter questions from world history. Suzie knocked on your door, “Hey Y/N?” Looking up from your textbook and notes, you smiled, “What’s up Brain? Or are you Slayer now?” She giggled, “Brain is fine for home, but I think Suze or Slayer at school would be better.” “Noted”, you smiled at her, “come sit.” You patted the space next to you, inviting her to come over.
Suzie walked over and plopped herself on the floor next to you, “How do you know if you like a boy?” Your eyes got wide, “Do- do you like someone?” She nodded and blushed. You squealed, “SUZIE!” She laughed, “I think I like Dustin.” Your jaw gently dropped, “OOO! Well how does that make you feel?” Suzie crossed her arms and sighed, “I don’t know. It feels good, him and I get along, but this is new for me.” You put a hand on her back and rubbed it, “Hey, it’s totally fine. Take your time with it, it was just the first day of school. There is no rush for anything. But no matter what, I’m here for you.” Her voice quieted as she got shy, “I’ve never dated someone before, what if I’m not good at it.” You reassured her, “It will be okay. If it makes you feel better, I haven’t had many dates myself.” She leaned her head onto your shoulder, “That actually does make me feel better.”
You smiled at her, and pulled her up with you, “Alright, should we pick out what you are going to wear tomorrow?” She nodded and the two of you went back and forth in between your two rooms, giggling about clothes and classes. In one of the crossings from one room to the other, Suzie stopped in her tracks, you ran into her back, letting out an “Oof.” Suzie spun on her toes, “Oh my gosh! Y/N! I forgot to tell you something!” You knit your eyebrows. Suzie’s smile became a mile wide, “You know the ‘coffin’ tape we listen to?” You nodded, “Yeah? What about it?” “Well”, Suzie began, “It’s a band called Corroded Coffin.” You still looked confused, “Oh, okay? That’s cool. Right?” She laughed, “I wasn’t finished. Corroded Coffin is Eddie Munson’s band.” Your face morphed into shock, “Wait. What? So I’ve been singing Eddie's song for the last month?” Suzie nodded, “Yep. And they play at the Hideout every other Tuesday. Can we go sometime?”

Chapter Text
School had been going well for you and Suzie, or at least the first month and then some had. Suzie was constantly at the top of her classes, and making great headway in the current D&D campaign. She and Dustin were getting closer, but neither had admitted to a crush on one another yet. You had held good grades, and had been asked to tutor. You did your tutoring the same days as HellFire so you could take Suzie home, but you quickly became the chauffeur to all of the HellFire freshmen. Eddie loved that.
On a rainy October Wednesday, it started as it usually did. Eddie was the start to your morning with Art. You had all been assigned a poster project and they were due today, most of your classes leading up to this were art appreciation, history of art, or different mediums and how to use them. It was exciting to be able to show off your work. Ms. Jeffries called on students one by one to present and discuss their work. Jonathan’s was all about photography and how to manipulate film to get different effects. Yours had been about abstract art patterns and how it was your favorite thing to hear how people interpreted abstract pieces.
Finally it was Eddie’s turn, his poster project was about using eccentric colors. How the more colors don’t go together, you can brighten them or darken them and make them work well together. You were a bit impressed that he had actually done the work, since he was a second year senior. His words melted away as you studied his poster, it looked familiar, but you couldn’t figure out why. Then it all hit, it was similar to a poster around town for Corroded Coffin. You chose not to mention anything to Eddie about his band, but you were sure Suzie had told him you loved their music.
As he settled back down next to you, you leaned over to him and whispered, “Why have I seen that design before?” Even though you knew the answer, you were hopeful he’d know why you were asking. He whispered back, “I think you know why. Because you’ve seen my flyers for Corroded Coffin.” You blushed and looked down, he got you good. Then a folded up piece of paper slid its way into your vision, you discreetly took it and opened it. It was a flier for Corroded Coffin’s show next Tuesday at the hideout. He whispered again, “I’d love it if you came to a show.” He let out a quiet laugh, “And bring Slayer while you’re at it. She talks about how you and her have played that tape so much.” You were a little stunned, you hadn’t realized how much Suzie talked about you during HellFire, but it was enough that Eddie now wanted you at one of his shows.
Dustin also felt bold on this particular day, he was planning to slide Suzie a note during Economics. Although he’d see her tonight for HellFire, he wanted his note to be between the two of them, and away from the group. He wrote the note during one of his early morning classes so it would be ready, this was it. He was going to have the courage to ask her for a date.
Lunch was much different than it had been the first few days of school. With the freshmen being inducted to HellFire, they now sat at the HellFire table. You still sat with your friends, but would make an occasional appearance if the freshmen had a question for you. As you walked by with your tray, Dustin shouted, “Y/N.” You sighed and made your way to the HellFire table. Eddie sat at the head of the table, pretending to be reading a magazine, but his eyes would flicker just above the top so he could look at you.
You knelt down to talk to Dustin, you looked at the table, “Uhhh where is Slayer?” Dustin sighed, “I was about to ask you the same.” You turned to Mike & Will, “Have either of you seen Suzie?” Will chimed in, “Oh, yes. She was taking her lunch in the library. Something about a big paper.” Dustin and you both sighed with relief. Eddie set down his magazine, “Everything okay?” You stood, leaned against the table and with a smartass tone, “One of your members is missing Munson. Thought you were supposed to keep track of your kids?” He smirked, “Get it right, Y/N. They’re Harrington’s children. They’re members of HellFire.” You roll your eyes and Eddie can’t help himself, “Don’t worry Princess, I’d never let anything happen to Slayer. She told me she’d be in the library just before lunch started.” He quickly flipped his magazine back up as you let out a scoff, “Alright then”, you turned your attention back to the freshmen, “I’ll see you all tonight after HellFire.”
Eddie watched you over the top of his magazine as you walked to your own table of friends. He was staring too long that Mike let out, “Dude, why not ask her out?” Eddie slammed the magazine down, “I have no idea what you’re talking about Wheeler.” Jeff laughed, “Even the freshmen see how bad you want her.” Gareth chimed in, “Eds, you literally start your day with her and end it with her because of your schedules. Maybe don't play hot and cold with her?” Will piped up, “Eddie, we’ve seen it. Every time she comes over, every time she picks us up after HellFire. Maybe you should just ask her out?” Eddie slammed his palm to the table, “If you must know, I invited her and Slayer to see Corroded Coffin play next week, but she didn’t give me an answer. Now leave it alone.”
The freshmen went back to the lunches, but this sparked an idea for Dustin. Even if he asked out Suzie, the two of them weren’t old enough to drive yet. Suzie had you, you would happily shuttle her to any event and probably Dustin if he asked you to. But what if he could convince Eddie to be his ride for dates? This now became a mission, not only for his own love life, but for Eddie’s. As the bell rang to dismiss lunch, Dustin ran up to Eddie, “Hey can I borrow you for a second?” “Sure Henderson”, Eddie smiled and moved the two of them to the wall, “What’s up?” Dustin smiled, “So, I think I want to ask Suzie out.” “That’s exciting, good job Henderson”, Eddie gently bumping Dustin’s shoulder. “Well, that’s the thing”, Dustin continued, “If she says yes, it’d be easy for Suzie to get a ride to wherever, but less convenient for me.” Eddie squinted as Dustin continued, “Is there any way you’d be willing to take me if Suze says ‘yes’?” Eddie wrapped his arm around Dustin's shoulder, “Yeah, I could do that. As long as it’s not a HellFire night or a night Corroded Coffin is playing.” Dustin let out a sigh of relief, “Thank you, Eddie. I’ll see you at HellFire.” The two departed for their classes.
Suzie was sitting in Econ by the time Dustin arrived, he waved at her, “Hey Slayer, missed you at lunch.” She giggled, “Yeah, you know, working on a paper. Or maybe I was prepping for HellFire tonight.” Dustin smiled, “Were you prepping for HellFire?” Suzie shrugged, “Guess you’ll have to wait and find out. Did anything exciting happen while I was gone?” Dustin leaned in, “Actually Y/N called out Eddie for not telling her where you were during lunch. And I heard he invited her to a Corroded Coffin show at the Hideout next week.” Suzie lit up, “Oh my gosh. He totally likes her right?” Dustin nodded, “Yeah, we are all pretty sure of that. Do you know if she likes him?” Suzie bit her lip, “I mean I think she does, but she won’t ever talk about it.”
Class had started and Dustin realized he completely forgot to pass his own note to Suzie, he’d have to wait until after class to be able to really talk to her again. The hour class was taking forever to wrap up. Dustin couldn’t focus on the lesson properly because he became so filled with wanting to get his note to Suzie, but finally the bell rang. Suzie turned to Dustin, “Should we walk to Advanced Lit together?” Dustin nodded and the two walked in silence, approaching the door he stopped. “Suzie?” She stopped to look at him, “Yes?” As he handed her the note he said, “Please don’t read it until you’re at your seat.” Then he scurried into the classroom. Suzie looked at the folded paper confused, but followed his request.
It was finally time for Mr. Matheson’s science class, you and Steve had arrived early so he came to sit next to you. Taking a few moments to catch up on him asking out another girl Stacy for this weekend, he was telling you all about how he was going to take her to some new movie and then maybe to Lover’s Lake. You laughed and pushed his shoulder as Eddie walked in, he took it as you were flirting with Steve, rather than having the full scope of the conversation. Steve spotted Eddie headed towards the seat he was currently occupying and moved to his own seat. You gently waved goodbye, even though he would only move a few rows up.
Eddie sat and scowled, “So you and your boyfriend making plans for the weekend?” You knit your brows, “Uhhh what?” Eddie scoffed, “Movie and Lover’s Lake?” You laughed, “Oh my gosh! No! He’s going with Stacy.” You studied Eddie’s face and tilted your head, “Wait, are you jealous?” Eddie’s face turned red and you continued, “Were you jealous because you thought me and Steve-?” Eddie looked down and you nudged his shoulder, “Psst, for the record, Steve isn’t my type.” Eddie whipped his head to you and was about to say something, but Mr. Matheson started class. You smiled at Eddie, then focused on the lesson Mr. Matheson was beginning.
The final bell rang, you started packing your things away. Before you could leave your seat, Eddie asked, “Can I walk you to your locker?” You tilted your head, “Uhh sure? Everything okay?” Eddie nodded and the two of you headed for the hallway. You started to make conversation about HellFire and how the current campaign sounded cool from what the kids shared with you. Eddie loved how engaged you were, how genuine you were in you being interested in the freshmen’s interest in HellFire. As Eddie was about to contribute, Suzie ran up to you, “Y/N! Y/N!” You looked concerned, “Suze, everything okay?” She was excited, “Yes! I just need to tell yo-” She stopped realizing Eddie was next to you, “Oh, sorry Eddie. Can- Can I have Y/N? By myself?” Eddie tossed his hands up, “Say no more Slayer. I’ll see you in a bit. Princess, I’ll see you later.” Eddie shot finger guns your way. You rolled your eyes and with sass responded, “Later Munson.”
Once Eddie was out of earshot, Suzie let you know that Dustin had asked her out for pizza and arcade games Friday night. You both squealed as you headed for your locker to swap items. As Suzie shared the details of the note, she finally asked, “Wait, will you be able to take me?” You laughed, “Seriously Suzie? Of course I will. I can drop you both off and will pick you up whenever you’re ready.” Suzie wrapped her arms around you and hugged you. After letting go she mentioned, “Well I think Dustin is trying to set up his own ride. Might be a little awkward otherwise.” You shrugged, “Whatever you two decide, just let me know.”
After Eddie left you and Slayer, he turned the corner and was bombarded by Dustin. “EDDIE!” “Henderson”, Eddie started, “What’s up?” Dustin was all smiles, “I did it! I asked out Suzie. This Friday. Pizza and Arcade. Please tell me you can be my ride?” Eddie laughed, “Yeah, I got you. Am I picking up Slayer too?” Dustin shook his head, “No, Y/N will bring Suzie. But maybe you and Y/N want to hang out while Suzie and I-”, he purred, insinuating something intimate between himself and Suzie. Eddie started to blush at the thought of getting to hang out with you, “I mean we’re like chaperones, right?” Dustin nudged him, “Or maybe you could turn it into your own date?” Eddie sighed, “Don’t push it Henderson, otherwise you can walk Friday night.”
School was long over, you had tutored a small group. Got some of your homework done, and were ready to scoop all of the HellFire freshmen. You happened to get to your car as the door to the school opened, releasing all the freshmen into your custody. You were ready to get in yourself, but Eddie flagged you down. The freshmen came running up to you, they seemed excited about their progress they had made in the campaign. You smiled, “Can’t wait to hear all about it, give me two seconds with your dungeon master?” The kids nodded and hopped in the car, still buzzing.
Eddie loved that you were encouraging and seemed to care about D&D even if you didn’t play it. You met him with a smile, “Hey Munson, what’s up?” He couldn’t help but smile back, “I heard Suzie and Dustin have a date Friday.” You nodded, “Yes, that was also my understanding. But Suze said something about-” Eddie interrupted, “Dustin having his own ride?” You knit your brows, “Yeah? How’d you kn-” And it clicked, you laughed, “Let me guess, you’re his ride?” Eddie held blush in his cheeks and flashed a devilish grin, “Guilty. Sounds like I get to see you outside of classes.” Your cheeks began to turn pink, “Is this your way of asking me out?” He chuckled, “Well if the princess insists.” You put a finger up to his lips, “I didn’t insist on anything. I asked you a question. But since you couldn’t seem to ask in time, I do have to run. I have a car full of hungry kids.” You started stepping back and then turned on your heels and headed towards your car.
Jeff and Gareth watched your entire encounter with Eddie. As soon as Eddie got to his van, he scolded both the upper classmen, “Don’t even say it.” They both laughed. Jeff chirped, “She just gave you the perfect opportunity!” “And you made it into a sarcastic joke”, Gareth chimed in. Eddie smacked his head down on his steering wheel, “I know. I just let her slip through my fingers.”

Chapter Text
Thursday Morning’s drive to school felt calm, Suzie had been buzzing all night that she didn’t get much sleep. You had been restless in your own bed, thinking about your encounter with Eddie. Was Eddie actually into you, or is it just because you’re both taking the kids on their own date? The two of you had become closer, between classes and Suzie being in HellFire. Did you mess it up that he wouldn’t consider asking you out now? Was there still an opportunity? Maybe you just needed to ask him. You’d have to gauge how he behaved around you today.
Suzie sleepily got out of the parked car and approached the group. Max & El took Suzie in a different direction to get all of the gossip on what Dustin’s note said and what the plan was for their date. You watched from a distance and could hear the three of them talking about what Suzie was planning to wear Friday night. You were pleased to see that Suzie was turning into a social butterfly within the group. You were heading in the direction of your own friends, but your attention was on Suzie. You ran into someone, you were good at that lately, letting out an “Ooof.”
Before looking up you immediately apologized, “I am so sorry.” Your eyes slowly scanned upward to see it was Eddie, he smirked, “Princess, I thought you said you wouldn’t let this happen again.” You sighed, “I did say that. I’m sorry. I-I was focused on Suze.” His eyes followed yours to where she was, she looked happy. “She looks like she’s fitting in well”, he commented. Your eyes darted back to him, “Yeah, I think so too.”
The bell rang, as everyone else started entering the building, you and Eddie stood outside for a minute. You shyly let out, “Want to walk me to class?” He lit up. You tried to back peddle, “Just since we both have Art an-” “I’d love to”, he interrupted. You blushed and the two of you made your way down the hall. He stayed close to you for the entire walk, just before you got to your class, some kids started running through the hall. You hadn’t seen them but Eddie had. They would have sideswiped you and probably sent you flying or thrown against a wall, except Eddie pulled you into him just in time. Both, the kids running, and being up against Eddie so suddenly had scared you. He leaned down to your ear and whispered, “You okay?” You caught your breath and nodded.
You didn’t say anything else through the morning. You did your best to focus on class, but your mind was racing, you were a bit flustered. It was one thing to be close to Eddie in class, but he had pulled you against him to prevent something happening to you. That closeness, to feel his body heat, thinking about it caused heat in your cheeks and you pulled yourself out of your hazy daydream to come back to reality. Somehow, you had daydreamed the whole way through your morning and into lunch.
“Y/N”, Robin called, “You in there?” You shook your head, “Sorry. Yeah I’m here.” Steve chuckled, “Where’d you go? You’ve been like a zombie most of lunch.” You blinked, “I- I don’t know. Just a weird morning I guess.” Jonathan chimed in, “Y/N narrowly escaped being run down this morning.” Nancy exclaimed, “What? When?” You started to blush as Jonathan told the story and how Eddie pulled you close just in time from being run over. Robin’s mouth was agape, “Wait, so you barely got saved because Eddie walked you to class?” You shrugged, “I guess.” “He totally likes you”, Nancy said monotoned. You tilted your head in confusion. Steve scoffed, “Come on Y/N. You can’t be serious. Jonathan and I have seen how he looks at you in class. And Henderson told me Munson invited you to the Hideout on Tuesday.” Robin shrieked, “WHAT? He wants you to go to one of his shows?” You nodded. Steve kept going, “Oh that’s not all. Y/N is taking Suzie to a date with Henderson tomorrow night.” Nancy didn't seem to follow, providing a confused tone, “Okay?” Steve smiled, “And Munson is taking Henderson.” You tried to play it cool, “It’s not what you all think, we’ve just been asked to get the kids to and from their own date. Steve, you and Robin are working, so not like Dustin could ask you.” Steve squinted at you, “I’m telling you Y/N, he likes you. And this is the perfect excuse to get the two of you together.” The rest of the table nodded and the bell rung.
The rest of the day went by quickly. You had arrived at Mr Matheson’s science class as the bell was ringing, planting yourself in your seat. You accidentally elbowed Eddie’s, “Shit, I’m sorry!” “It’s okay”, he started, “But are you okay? You seemed a little off after this morning’s almost collision.” You nodded, “Yeah, the day has been weird. In my own head, ya know?” He nodded and you both focused on the lesson for a bit, until a note was slid in front of you. The note read, “I hope I didn’t hurt you when I pulled you into me.” You scribbled back, “You didn’t. Just a weird day.” He scribbled and slid it back, “I didn’t hate being that close to you.” He watched you read the note and you blushed.
Too bad Mr. Matheson saw the note being slid back & forth and came by to snatch it from your hands, “Should we share with the class?” You were mortified and Eddie tried to ask for it back. Mr Matheson stood firm, “No, no, no. This note was soooo important. Much more important than my lesson. So let’s read it.” Mr Matheson read it to the entire class. They all erupted with laughter, that the freak not only saved you, but he clearly liked you. Eddie grabbed his bag and pushed his way out the door, you kept your head down. You felt angry that Mr Matheson would read the note, and that he did nothing about the entire class laughing at Eddie.
After class, you darted for the HellFire room before going to tutoring. Hoping to catch him alone in the HellFire room, you were dying to ask him more about the note. You thought to yourself that maybe would be in his throne. You were right, that’s where he was sulking. “Eddie”, you called out to him. His head whipped up from his book, he looked surprised, “Well, well, well, the princess has sought out the freak.” You groaned, “Eddie, you’re not a freak. Not to me.” He sat up straighter in his chair, “I- I’m sorry, Y/N. I didn’t mean to-” “Eddie, please”, you interrupted, “Did you mean what you wrote?” He tilted his head, “What?” You lost your courage to ask what you came to ask as footsteps sounded closer to the room. You decided to not push and blew out a breath of air full of frustations, “Nevermind. Thanks for saving me earlier today.” You turned on your heels and headed down the hall.
Eddie deflated as you left, Mike and Will had entered the room. Will looked confused, “What was Y/N doing down here?” Eddie waved his hand, “The princess had a question about class.” Mike wasn’t buying it, “You sure? Because the look on her face makes it seem like there's something deeper than that.” Eddie slammed his book on the table, “We going to chit chat, or are you two going to help me set up?” Without another word, Mike & Will helped set up for HellFire.
Tonight's tutoring was for science, you had created a few practice tests for your tutoring session, but no one showed up. You took the time to do your own homework, and then made your way to the parking lot. You felt deflated in your own way as you put your stuff into the car. Behind you, you heard the doors open and footsteps running to you. The kids quickly piled in the car, and you climbed in without turning around to look at any of the upperclassmen HellFire members. You were already in your head about the almost collision, you were just worn out from the day.
Jeff & Gareth watched Eddie watch you drive away with kids in tow. Jeff put his hand on Eddie’s shoulder, “Hey, don’t hold this against her. From what you said, it hasn’t been the smoothest day for Y/N.” Eddie nodded and Gareth chimed in, “Let’s go eat.” The three fell into their own laughter and discussion of the highlights from tonight’s HellFire session as they made their way out of the school parking lot.
After dropping most of the freshmen to their respected homes, you and Suzie were finally alone. You put on a brave face for Suzie even though your own feelings felt like a scrambled mess. You nudge her, “You feeling excited for tomorrow night?” She snapped back, “Are you?” You laughed, “Of course I’m excited for you and your date tomorrow.” Suzie shook her head, “What about your own date? With Eddie?” You let out a nervous laugh, “It’s not a date for us. We are chaperoning.” Suzie rolled her eyes and scoffed, “Would you give it up? He wants it to be a date!” Letting out a sigh, “Suze, it’s wrong to assume. He hasn’t asked me.”
Pulling into the driveway and shifting the car into park, the two of you exited the vehicle. Suzie teased you, “I’m pretty sure he’s planning to ask you. It’s all the boys ever talk about.” She quickly escaped before you could ask anything else of her.
Closing the front door, your mother called, “Y/N?” You headed towards her voice to find her in the kitchen, “Hi mom.” You gave her a hug, “What’s going on?” She smiled, “I just want to make sure you are still taking Suzie tomorrow on her date?” You nodded, “Of course.” “Are you staying there with her?”, your dad’s voice echoed behind you. You turned to see he was leaning back further in his own recliner just to see you. “Was planning to. But at a distance.” Your dad hummed as he liked your answer and turned his attention back to whatever was on the television. Your mom’s voice was soft, “We appreciate you looking out for her.” You smiled and teased, “Yeah, I’ve grown fond of Suze.”
Your mom bit her lip, “What about you?” Your brows knit, “What about me?” Your mom sighed, “Well, for the longest time, we thought maybe you’d date the Harrington boy. But what about you going on dates?” You went shy, “Well, uhh- when the right person comes along-” “Eddie Munson likes her”, Suzie exclaimed from behind you. Your mom leaned in, eyes wide, “The long haired boy who runs HellFire?” Suzie nodded, “Yep. He even saved Y/N today from being run over in the halls.” Your mom's eyes shifted to you and blush filled your cheeks. Your mom looked a little concerned, “I heard he’s a troublemaker?” “Oh no”, Suzie clarified, “He’s really a sweet guy. A little misunderstood. But he has this cool band Y/N and I listen to. Even invited her to a show next week at the hideout.”
You turned on your heels to look at her, glaring as if to say, “Shut up!” Your mom’s voice rang behind you, “Well I think it’s lovely then that you seem to like someone who likes you back.” “Mom”, you scoffed, “I don’t like him.” Your mom chortled, “Okay. Well you can lie to yourself, but you have a bad poker face. Just do me a favor?” You let out a hum. “If you go to the hideout”, your mom started, “just be safe. Maybe make the Munson boy walk you to the car?” Suzie shyly asked, “Think it’d be okay if I go with Y/N?” You mom peered around you to Suzie, “As long as Y/N says she will look out for you.”
Your face had disbelief written all over it. First your mom questioning your dating life, then Suzie blabbing that you liked Eddie, then your mom suddenly being fine with you going to the hideout. With mouth agape, you asked, “Did Suze just convince you it’s okay for me to date? And that you’re fine with me hanging around with Munson?” Your dad yelled from his recliner, “Sounds like it Kiddo! Have a good time, but know I’ll hunt him down if he hurts you or your cousin.” You silently excused yourself and went to your room. Did everyone but you just seem to accept that Eddie liked you? Knots rolled in your stomach. All night, those knots would be there.
Friday morning, Eddie was running late. He missed catching you before the bell. By the time he got to class, it had already started and Ms Jeffries was making faces at his tardiness. He took his seat next to you, he kept shifting his eyes to watch you in his peripherals. Eddie noticed you fidgeting more than usual today, and he was curious if yesterday’s events were still too much for you. You kept to yourself in Art, and quickly escaped at the dismissal bell. Eddie would have to wait until lunch to get your attention.
Lunch was buzzing, students making plans for the weekend. Steve had just announced he’d be hosting a party Saturday night while his parents were gone. You approached your friends to sit, you saw Dustin was talking to Steve about inviting the HellFire crew, and Steve agreed. Steve didn’t want to shame his kids of their newest extra curricular group. Dustin turned to go tell the HellFire table but didn’t see you, running right into you. Causing your tray to go flying and you to start falling backwards
In that moment, you saw your life flash before your eyes, you braced yourself to hit the concrete floor of the lunchroom, squeezing your eyes shut. Eddie had come right behind you and caught you in a dip type of motion. You heard your tray crash along the floor behind you. When you realized you hadn’t hit the floor, you slowly opened your eyes. Eddie had looked concerned, and all your friends crowded you. You were terrified, and tucked yourself into Eddie’s chest.
Dustin panicked, “Y/N, I’m so sorry!” Suzie ran up, “Y/N, are you okay?” Eddie stood you up and wrapped his arm around you to balance you, but you couldn’t seem to let go. Like a baby fawn, your legs weren’t strong enough to hold you up. You gripped the bottom of Eddie’s shirt in a fist. Steve and Robin came to clear and shoo everyone away. “Nothing to see here”, Robin called out. “Go back to your tables”, Steve directed. Nancy came to take the freshmen back to the HellFire table, reassuring them you’d be okay. Steve came up to you, trying to look you in the eyes, but you were pale and shaken up. “Munson, can you get her to the nurse?” He nodded and the two of you left the cafeteria, his arm around you for balance as you made your way to the nurse’s office.

Chapter Text
Eddie had escorted you to the school nurse, she examined you. You never hit your head, but clearly had been a bit shaken up. The nurse gave you a pass to roam the halls as needed since a good scare like that can have shock syndrome symptoms and panic attacks. The nurse was kind enough to not put an expiration date on it, so you could use it for the rest of the semester. She wrote Eddie a pass too since he came with you. Before handing him his hall pass, she scanned him up and down, “Don’t abuse this Munson.” He gave her a charming smile, “I would never, just here to help Y/N.” “Mhmm”, the nurse let out in disbelief as she handed Eddie his pass.
Classes had started while you were in the nurse’s office. Eddie carried your backpack and walked you down the hall, “You going to be okay?” You nodded and he stopped you, “I need you to look at me and tell me you’re going to be okay.” You met his deep brown doe eyes, “Yes Eddie. I’m going to be fine.” The two of you walked to the door of your world history class. Eddie handed you your backpack and you bit your lip, “Thanks for saving me, again.” He chuckled, “No worries. Right place, right time. I’ll see you in Matheson’s.” As Eddie pulled away to go to his own class, you stopped him by tugging on his arm. He turned to look at you, “Yes princess?” You leaned in and kissed his cheek, then scurried into your classroom and took your seat.
Eddie held his cheek, your kiss burning his skin all the way to his own class. Arriving at his own class he showed his teacher the pass he was given and took his seat quietly. Eddie couldn’t focus on the lesson, he spent his time doodling in his notebook. Drawing your initials with his. The invisible mark of your lips on his cheek made him smitten.
Finally you made your way to science, but everyone wanted to stop you in the hall to ask if you were okay from the lunchroom accident. Suzie ran up to you, “Y/N!” “Hey Slayer”, you responded. She bit her lip, “Are you okay?” You moved her to the side of the hallway and reassured her, “I’m fine. Just scared myself.” Dustin came running up to you and Suzie, “Y/N, I am so so sorry.” You smiled, “I’m totally fine. Seriously Dustin.” You rolled your arms and did a slow spin, “See, nothing broken.” You could see he still felt bad. You nudged him, “Don’t worry so much. I’m still planning to bring Suze tonight.” The two smiled at each other then back to you. You smirked, “Alright, go on to your class. Suze, I’ll see you after school.”
You made it to your class, but of course everyone had to turn around and stare at you, whispering amongst each other about how you were. Steve came up to you, “Hey, doing okay?” You nodded, “Yeah, I’m fine. Just all happened at once. Am I still allowed at your party tomorrow?” Steve laughed, “Yeah, as long as you don’t have any more accidents.” You smirked, “Promise.” Eddie suddenly appeared in his seat, Steve turned his attention to him. “Thanks for taking care of Y/N.” You scoffed, “I’m right here.” Eddie laughed then looked at Steve, “No worries, I have a soft spot for damsels in distress.” Steve raised his brows at you, but before he could say anything you started, “Go to your seat Steve.” Steve raised his hands and walked to his own seat. He turned to face you and raised his eyebrows, shifting his eyes between you and Eddie. You giggled and rolled your eyes.
All eyes in the class were still on you, and now Eddie. You leaned over to him, “I wish people would stop staring. I’m perfectly fine.” Eddie whispered back, “Should I give them something to stare at?” “Please”, you pleaded. Eddie jumped on the top of the table, “Since everyone in CLASS won’t stop staring, how about I give you something to actually talk about.” You looked up at him and giggled, thinking he was going to take all the attention away from you. He had the entire class in the palm of his hand, and you smirked, until he met your eyes and smiled. Eddie cleared his throat, “Y/N, let me take you on a date. Let’s say tonight?” The class erupted with unison “OOOOOO.”
Mr. Matheson had walked in, “Munson, get off the table before I kick you out of my class.” Eddie quickly hopped down with the biggest grin on his face. You bit your tongue, and shook your head. Eddie leaned over, “What’s wrong? Not the distraction you were looking for?” You were biting your cheek, trying not to smile, “Not quite what I had in mind.” Eddie kept smiling through the rest of class, looking over at you any chance he could.
Finally the bell rang, classmates were still whispering and giggling about you. You grabbed your bag, but Eddie took it from you, sliding one of the straps on his shoulder, his own backpack was on the other. “Eddie”, you let out, “It’s fine, I can carry my own bag.” He stuck his tongue out, “I’ll consider letting you carry your bag if you answer my questions.” You put on your own dramatics, “I’m sorry, what was the question?” The two of you made your way to your locker, he leaned against the ones next to you and gave you your backpack, “I want to know if you want to be my date tonight.” You smirked, focusing on swapping out whatever you would need for homework and to study over the weekend. Closing your locker you turned to him, “I’d love to be your date.”
The two of you walked out to the parking lot together. Felt like all of your friends and HellFire were waiting, they stared at you both. Approaching the group, Eddie asked, “What's up?” Robin wasn’t shy, “Oh, Steve was just telling us how you asked Y/N out in class.” “And that’s my cue to leave”, you started, “Come on Suzie.” You started pulling your cousin to the car, saying over your shoulder, “Dustin, she’ll see you tonight.”
Eddie laughed at your awkward departure. Gareth smacked Eddie’s shoulder, “It’s about time man.” Dustin smirked, “So does this make tonight a double date?” Eddie smiled, “Yeah, sounds like it is.” The whole group patted Eddie on the back. Steve nudged him, “If your date with her tonight goes well, maybe ask her to the party tomorrow?” It was different for Eddie to be invited to a party that wasn’t for the purpose of a sale. It was also nice to see his own friend group slowly expanding & having them cheering for his happiness.
Suzie tried to ask you as many questions as she could on the way home, “What happened after Eddie took you to the nurse?”, “Are you and him dating?”, “Is tonight a double date?”, “Did he kiss you?”, “How did he ask you out?” “Suzie”, you finally gave in, “tonight is a double date, and I’m not answering anything else.” She crossed her arms, “How about, what are you wearing tonight?” You gave her a look to match her sass, “What are YOU wearing tonight?” Suzie laughed, “I was hoping you’d help me decide.” The two of you giggled the rest of the way home discussing potential outfits.
Eddie and Dustin had pulled up to Sal’s Pizza, a local Hawkins’ favorite. With it being a cold October night, Dustin wore jeans and a hoodie, and Eddie went with not so ripped black jeans, a white t-shirt and a flannel shirt over. The two waited for your car in the parking lot. Dustin spotted you pull in and he nudged Eddie. Suzie wore jeans with a plain shirt and pink cardigan. You stepped out in black jeans, a Poison shirt, and a flannel shirt over it. Eddie was stunned that you hadn’t planned to match him, but did. Suzie spotted the two boys and waved.
Eddie and Dustin greeted each of their dates, and the four walked him to grab a booth. Dustin and Suzie sat on one side, you and Eddie on the other. Dustin had brought Suzie a flower, she “aww’d” at the gift and kissed him on the cheek. You watched how happy both of them had been to spend time together like this. Eddie nudged you and whispered, “I’m sorry I didn’t bring anything.” You smiled, “It’s fine, I didn’t expect anything. But this seating arrangement feels like our classes right?” He laughed, you were right, being side by side made him think of Art and Science.
In between placing your pizza orders, you all made jokes, caught up on how classes were going, and how the current D&D Campaign was going. You watched as Suzie and Dustin scooted closer together, they looked precious. The two freshmen fell into their own topic for a bit. You then realized there was a bit of a gap between you and Eddie, you had looked down staring at the space between you two. You thought of how to close the gap without being pushy. Eddie had been plenty close to you in the last few days, and yet you were shy to ask him to close the gap now.
Eddie bumped his knee to yours, getting your attention. You met his eyes, they seemed darker than usual, maybe it was from the dimmed lighting of the restaurant. He flashed a smile, “Am I that bad of a date that you’d rather focus on the booth?” You giggled, “No, just look at the kids.” You and Eddie looked at Dustin & Suzie. Eddie’s brows knit, “What about them?” Your voice got quiet, “See how close they are? And then we have this gap.” Eddie laughed, “I can fix that.” He slid closer to you, wrapping his arm around your shoulder and pulling you in, “Better?” You nodded and put your hand on his thigh. His cologne was hypnotic that you. You stayed as close to him as you could until food arrived.
Bellies were full, and it was time to head to the arcade. Suzie and Dustin walked out of Sal’s holding hands, and you and Eddie walked out with his arm around your shoulder. The four of you stood outside for a moment, realizing maybe a carpool would have been ideal so no one had to split off. You let out a small sigh, “Suzie and I will meet you there? It’s 10 minutes up the road right?” Dustin nodded, “Yeah, Gauntlet Games.” Suzie slowly dropped Dustin’s hand, and Eddie pulled his arm away. Neither couple wanted to separate.
You followed Eddie’s van to the arcade, the music was quiet in the car as you and Suzie giggled about the date so far. “You and Dustin are so cute together Suze”, you complimented. She blushed, “I know. He gets me and challenges me academically. I also love his smile.” You let out an “awww.” Suzie stuck her tongue out, “You and Eddie looked good together. Looks like he got some practice being close to you the last couple days.” With a free hand, you gently pushed her shoulder. She held firm, “I mean it though, you two look right for one another.” This made you “aww” again.
Parking next to Eddie’s van, you shut your car off. Suzie rushed out of the car, meeting with Dustin and running inside to play games. Eddie stood at the front of his van waiting for you. The neon coming from the Gauntlet Games arcade sign was a beautiful glow on your skin. You smiled as you walked up to him, “Guess they don’t need us.” Eddie shrugged, “Guess they’ll have to find us when they run out of money. Ready to play?” You got shy, “Oh, uhhh- I don’t know how to play much of anything.” Eddie grinned, “I’ll show you.” He knit his fingers in between yours and the two of you walked in.
Since you weren’t as familiar with arcade games, you had no idea what to expect inside. The massive room was dark, but lit with varying blues, greens, and purple neon lights. Game cabinets lining the wall and used to create their own aisles. The games were loud, and the place was full of kids spending their quarters playing various games. You passed quite a few kids you knew from school, and spotted Dustin & Suzie from across the room.
Eddie pulled you to a game that read Frogger. You felt timid that you had no idea how to play, you placed yourself behind Eddie to watch him from over his shoulder. He pulled you into him, “How are you going to play from over there Princess?” You blushed, “I thought I’d watch you first.” He shook his head, “I don’t think so.” Eddie placed you in front of him, wrapping his arms around you and his hands over yours. He popped a quarter in the machine, and a jaunty tune played. He guided your hands over the joystick and buttons for a while, after the fourth level, he let go of your hands but was still right behind you. He didn’t watch you play, he was too busy admiring you. The way you slipped into the neon, your tongue barely sticking out as you focused. You only made it a level without him, you laughed, “That was fun.” You attempted to play without his help quite a few times. Eddie was still right behind you, his hands fell to your hips. He was hypnotized by watching you.
Your laugh brought Eddie out of his hazy daydream, “Not too bad for your first time in an arcade, Y/N.” You leaned back into him and turned your head so you could see him, “Thanks.” You were leaning in to plant a kiss on his cheek, but he turned his head too quick and you got his lips. Your eyes went wide and made a small space between the two of you, “I’m so sorry. I- I didn’t expect you to turn your head and I-” You were interrupted by Dustin and Suzie. “Uhhh”, Dustin started, bringing your attention to him, “Are we interrupting?” You were quick to respond, “Nope, Eddie was teaching me to play Frogger.” Suzie cleared her throat, “Well I think it’s time to go.” You and Eddie looked around, not realizing how late it had gotten. The arcade was down to a handful of kids who were finishing their turns on their current games.
Eddie stepped back to give you space, but squeezed your hand, holding it tight as the four of you walked out. Suzie and Dustin were saying their own goodbyes. You looked at Eddie, biting your lip, “I’m sorry again for accidentally-” He interrupted you, “Don’t be sorry unless you hated it. Because I quite enjoyed being kissed by you Princess.” You blushed, and he continued, “What do you think about going to Harrington’s party together tomorrow?” Dustin heard Eddie ask you, “Y/N, if you go, can Suzie and I go?” Eddie peered around you to meet Dustin’s eyes, “Let Y/N decide if she wants to haul you guys first Henderson.”
You giggled and looked over at Suzie, she was nodding to the unasked question of, “Do you want to go to Steve’s party tomorrow?” You looked up at Eddie, “I’d like that. Any chance you want to pick me and Suzie up? I’ll give you some gas money?” Eddie laughed, “Think nothing of it. I’d be happy to shuttle you and Slayer tomorrow night.” Dustin chirped, “And me?” Eddie huffed, “Yeah, you too Henderson.”
Eddie wrapped his arms around you, pulling you in for a goodbye hug. You held yourself there for a moment, and looked up at him, “I’ll see you tomorrow Eddie.” He smiled, “Yeah, tomorrow Y/N.” Slipping out of each other’s arms, you and Suzie loaded into your car. Eddie waited for your car to pull out of the parking lot. Once you were out of sight, Eddie let out, “Fuck yes!” Pumping his fist in the air, and high fiving Dustin. The two boys hopped into Eddie’s van and were off into the night, feeling like their dates had been successful.

Eddie stirred in bed as he kept replaying last night in his head. The closeness between the two of you the last few days was causing a buzzing within Eddie. The way you leaned your back into his chest, the way your hands fit in his. Then the accidental kiss, your lips were soft and warm. If only he had leaned into it and maybe started to slip his tongue-. The phone rang, bringing Eddie back to reality.
He heard his uncle answer the phone and then call for him, “Eds, it’s the Henderson boy.” Eddie tossed on some pants, lazily making his way to the phone, “Hello?” “Eddie, what are you doing?” Eddie chuckled, “Well I just got out of bed Henderson, what’s up?” Dustin huffed, “I was going to see if you could pick me up first tonight? I wanted to bring Suzie a rose, but need to pick one up.” Eddie sighed, “Yeah, of course I’d scoop you first. But you’re making me look bad by bringing flowers to Suzie.” Dustin pushed, “Maybe get Y/N some flowers then?” Eddie sigh, “what time do I need to get you?” Dustin perked up, “Seven!” “Great”, Eddie started, “See you then.”
Hanging up the phone he let out a sigh, realizing he himself needed to get going for band practice at Jeff’s house. Tossing on a shirt and his jacket, grabbing his keys, and stuffing his hand into his pants pocket. Something felt different in his pocket, like a bit of paper. He pulled it out to examine it. You had snuck a note into his pocket last night somehow, it was your phone number. Eddie’s stomach tied into knots, and he smiled all the way to band practice.
Suzie woke you up, it was mid morning, “Psst”, she gently shook you, “Y/N?” You stirred and rolled over, “Yeah Brain?” Suzie sat on the edge of your bed, “Max just called. Is there any way you could take me, her and El to Starcourt today?” You looked at the clock and then back to her, “If you give me 30 mins, yes.” Suzie let out a shriek, “Thank you, Y/N! I’m going to call Max and let her know.”
Tossing yourself out of bed, you took a quick shower, grabbed some jeans and a sweater, put on some light makeup and headed down the stairs. Suzie was finishing the last few bites of her cereal. “Almost ready Brain?”, “Yep”, she mumbled through her last bite. Your parents usually weren’t around on weekend mornings, they had their own outings and friends to meet. You quickly scribbled a note, “Gone to mall. Suze & I have another date tonight. Don’t wait up.” Luckily you had earned enough trust from your parents that if you said, ‘don’t wait up’, they would accept that.
Eddie rolled up to Jeff’s house, the other band members were already warming up in the garage. As he plugged in his guitar and did a quick tuning he could hear the rest of them whispering, he turned his head, “Something to say?” Gareth smirked, “Well uhh you haven’t stopped smiling since you pulled up.” Jeff pushed, “Did it go well?” Eddie chuckled, “Yeah, actually it went really well. So well that I’m hauling Y/N & Suze tonight to Harrington’s party.” Jeff & Gareth looked at each other, then back to Eddie, “So who is taking us?” Eddie closed his eyes and huffed, he forgot he already told Jeff and Gareth he’d shuttle them too, “Sounds like we have a full van tonight boys. Now can we practice?”
Your car was full of giggles and squeals about tonight’s party at Steve’s, all three girls took your backseat and you became a chauffeur. As the four of you walked into Starcourt Mall, El came up next to you, “Hey Y/N?” You beamed at her, “Yes El?” She smiled, “What are you going to wear to the party tonight?” Max and Suzie stopped in their tracks to hear your response, “Oh, I was thinking maybe jeans and a band tee?” Max interrupted, “You’re kidding right?” You knit your brows, “No. What are all of you wearing?” All three looked at each other and sang in unison, “Dresses!” Suzie smirked, “Thought maybe you’d get one too?”
You wandered through all the stores with the girls, you weren’t opposed to dresses, but you tended to wear them for special occasions, not high school parties. The girls made it clear they wanted you to wear a party dress too. It was a montage of fitting rooms and outfit changes, dresses in every shape, style and color until you each found the right one. The four of you were in and out of every store trying to find the right dresses. Suzie ended up with a deep blue dress with a textured ruffle skirt, Max found a metallic purple dress with sleeves, and El found a pink dress with neon yellow throughout.
You stepped out of the dressing room in a black, shoulder revealing type of dress. It fit your curves, all the girls' jaws slacked. You did a twirl, “Too much?” “No”, Max started, “It looks so good.” “Eddie is going to love it”, Suzie chimed in. You laughed, “Ever think maybe I’m wearing this for me?” El chuckled, “I mean you can say that all you want but I think you picked this to wow him.” The girls giggled as you made your purchase, and followed the girls to the next stop.
After dresses and accessories were secured, you treated the girls to lunch and dropped Max & El back off. Suzie shuffled her way to the front seat for the ride home. “Thanks for taking us, Y/N”, Suzie buzzed. You looked over at her, “Honestly Brain, I’m excited to see you enjoying your time and making friends here.” The two of you jammed the rest of the way home, screaming lyrics as loud as you could, and playing air instruments along with the songs.
Eddie had finished band practice, he returned home and was pacing his trailer. He had your number in his hand, he would grab the receiver, heard the dial tone and hang back up. Slamming the phone he huffed to himself, “Come on Munson, you just have to call her. It’s not that hard.” He went to grab the phone again, and began dialing. He panicked that one of your parents might answer, there was a panic washing over him about what he would say if you didn’t answer.
Your voice calmed him, “Hello?” “Hey Y/N, it’s Eddie”, he started. He smiled as your voice indicated excitement, “Hey Eddie!” He chuckled as he heard Suzie in the background say, “EDDIE IS CALLING?” You shhh’d her and continued on the phone with Eddie, “What’s up?” He cleared his throat, “ I just wanted to firm up what time I’m grabbing you and Slayer tonight. Does 8 work?” “Yes”, you chirped, “We can be ready by then.” Eddie let out a sigh, “Oh, and uhh it’s going to be a full van tonight. I already promised Gareth and Jeff I’d drive them too.” “Oh, the more the merrier”, you said with confidence. “Great”, Eddie was smiling, “I’ll see you then.” You both said your goodbyes and disconnected.
You had barely hung up and Suzie was bouncing off the wall, “HE has your phone number?!” You laughed, “Well yeah, how else was he supposed to tell us what time he was picking us up?” Suzie hummed, “Alright, but Dustin could have easily called and told me.” You shrugged, “But he didn’t.” You and Suzie playfully poked at each other the rest of the late afternoon.
A knock echoed from your front door, your mom was quick to answer it. Opening the door to see Dustin standing there with a flower in hand for Suzie, “Good evening Mrs. Bingham. Are Suzie and Y/N ready?” Your mom smiled at the young gentleman, and then looked over his shoulder to see a powder blue van with a long haired boy in the driver’s seat. Your mom’s attention turned to Dustin, “Is that the Munson boy?” Dustin looked behind him and saw Eddie wave to your mom from the driver’s seat, rolling down the window. Eddie greets with a hand up wave, “Hi Mrs. Bingham.” Your mom politely waves back and speaks to Dustin, “You trust him, right?” Dustin laughed, “Yeah, I trust Eddie. He may look scary, but he’s a good guy. He actually saved Y/N a few times last week from accidents” Before your mom could ask questions about what happened, your dad came up to peer out the front door, “Who’s at the door honey?” His eyes catch Dustin, and then he peers to the blue van parked out front, which answers his own question “Ahh I see.” Your dad walks to the stairs and calls up, “Girls! Your ride is here.”
You both scurry down the stairs, and say goodbyes to your parents. Your dad grabs your hand, “Y/N, look out for Suzie. You know I’ll break both those boys in half if anything happens to either of you.” Your dad was always protective, you had earned trust and respect from your parents, but you appreciated the reminder that he would always be there for you. You smiled, “I promise, we will be safe. That’s why we are carpooling.” You gave your dad a hug and the two of you were out the door.
Dustin opened the back door for Suzie to reveal the bench seats, Jeff and Gareth were in the back already and greeted you and Suzie with hellos. You were ready to climb into the back when Dustin stopped you, “Uhh where are you going?” You knit your brows, “I thought I was in the back with Suze?” Gareth laughed, “Nah, Eddie said you get shotgun.” Eddie turned around, “Shut up Gareth!” His eyes met yours and you giggled, he shyly continued, “Unless you don’t want to.” You closed the back sliding door and opened the passenger door, hopping into the seat. Eddie’s eyes got wide as he could now admire your short black dress, it hugged you the right way, and you had paired it with a pair of semi sheer black tights and some ankle boots. You hadn’t noticed Eddie staring at you until Dustin cleared his throat, “Are we going, or are you just going to stare at her?” The backseat laughed and Eddie turned the keys, starting the van up again.
Steve’s house was overflowing with people, Suzie stared in amazement as she got out of the van. You were used to Harrington type parties, but this would be Suzie’s first. Before everyone parted ways, you grabbed Suzie’s shoulder, “Have fun, okay? And if you need anything you can find any of us.” Suzie hugged you, “Thank you.” You squished her in the embrace and then set her free. You stood watching as she grabbed Dustin’s hand and the two of them ran to meet up with their other friends.
Eddie bumped your shoulder, “Ready to go in, Princess?” You smiled and nodded. Eddie thought the two of you would just walk in near-ish one another and figured you’d probably part ways after being inside when you saw your other friends. You slipped your hand into his, intertwining fingers as you approached the house. Even as you saw your friends and they came to chat with you, you held his hand, only letting go to hug someone else momentarily. You got many compliments on your dress and hyped up all your other girlfriends who also dressed up for this party. Eddie was even greeted by some people, that was something different for him. Now that he was becoming inducted into your friend group too, people knew him enough to say ‘hi’.
The two of you found Steve and Stacy (his current girl), in the kitchen. As soon as Steve saw you, “Y/N! Munson! You made it!” You laughed, grabbing yourself a cup and filling it with punch from the counter before approaching them. The four of you chatted about the party and how Steve had seen all of his kids having a good time so far. Eddie was thanking Steve for the invite to the party just as you decided to take his hand that you were holding and wrap it around you so it was now on your shoulder. “Yeah Munson, well it seems like quite a few people like you”, Steve playfully poked, “So it’s good to have you be a part of this.” You all laughed and finished pleasantries before Steve and Stacy were called away for host duties.
Eddie smirked once Harrington was gone, “That’s a bold move there Y/N.” You happily sipped your punch and teased, “I’m not sure what you’re referring to Eddie.” His hand moved from your shoulder to your waist, pulling you close to him, devilishly smiling, “Putting my arm around you in front of others. You want people to know you’re with the freak?” You put a hand on his cheek, “Eddie, you’re not a freak. Not to me.” He shook his head, you didn’t admit that the two of you weren’t together, but you also didn’t admit that you were. This was just another date.
A song began from the living room and you squealed, “Oh my god! I love this song!” You pulled Eddie’s hand off your waist and led him to the living room where the two of you joined the rest of the people dancing. He wasn’t into pop music as much, and usually you weren’t either, but something about this song made you move. He stayed close to you, swaying to the song and watched the colorful lights bounce off your curves as you got lost in the song. People stared as they realized Eddie Munson was on the dance floor with Y/N Bingham, but you didn’t notice or care. You were happy, alive in the moment, and lost in the music
After a few songs, Eddie leaned into your ear, “I need some air.” You nodded and the two of you grabbed fresh drinks and found a staircase to perch yourselves on. You used your knee to bump his, “Sorry, I wasn’t expecting to want to dance for so long.” He smirked, “I didn’t mind at all.” Jeff spots you two from across the room and waves. Max & Lucas pass by saying ‘hi’ before they are called to play beer pong against Mike & El. Dustin & Suzie were still dancing. Everyone was having a great time.
Once you and Eddie caught your breath from dancing, you went to watch people play beer pong and do keg stands outside. You laughed and cheered as everyone took turns playing. “Y/N & Eddie, let’s go”, Mike called out. You and Eddie looked at each other and approached the beer pong table to take on Mike & El. During the round, Eddie noticed you started getting goosebumps along your arms, he took off his jacket and placed it over your shoulders. Everyone watching let out a collective, “oooooo.” Eddie leaned in to whisper, “You looked cold.” You smiled as you slipped on his jacket properly, “Thank you.”
The party began to wind down, all the freshmen were getting tired, it was time to head out. You collected Dustin & Suzie, and said goodbyes to Steve & Stacy. Eddie took care of rounding up Gareth & Jeff then met you at the van. Loading into the van, you went to take off Eddie’s jacket to return it, but he stopped you, “What do you think you are doing?” Your brows knit, “Uhh giving you back your jacket?” He smirked, “Why don’t you give it back to me at school instead?” You kissed his cheek and settled into the passenger seat, hugging yourself a little tighter into the leather jacket. Eddie’s cheek had that familiar burning sensation that he loved when you kissed his skin. Heat now crawls up his neck as he admires you snuggling deeper into his jacket.
You and Suzie would be the first to be dropped off. Luckily Jeff & Gareth fell asleep in the back so Eddie and Dustin could take their time saying goodbye to their dates. Eddie walked around to let you out of the van, “Thanks for being my date to Harrington’s party, Y/N.” You blushed as you met his eyes, “It was a pleasure to be your date. And thanks for carrying us through beer pong this time. I got us next time.” You let out a laugh that melted Eddie’s heart, you slid into his arms to give him a hug. He tucked a finger under your chin, and lifted it so he could look into your eyes. With a firm tone he began, “The Hideout, Tuesday. Be there. In this jacket.” He kissed your forehead and tightened his jacket around you before he let you out of his arms, “Goodnight Y/N.” You stepped back blushing, “Goodnight Eddie, thank you for tonight.” Suzie gave Dustin a kiss on the cheek before letting him go, and you and Suzie headed for the house. You both waved to your dates before stepping inside the door and closing it.

Chapter Text
Monday came quicker than you or Suzie wanted, but you both put on brave faces as you returned from the weekend. Gossip filled the halls about you and Eddie at Steve’s party, throughout the day the rumors became wilder. Everything from they spotted you kissing him at the party, to you both skinny dipping in the pool. The skinny dipping rumor made you laugh since it was well into MidWest Fall and too cold for swimming. During your shared classes with Eddie, you would swap which rumors you heard and both laugh at the exaggerations. The closeness the two of you showed on Monday was only firming up people’s wild misinformation, but the people closest to you knew the truth and that’s what mattered.
Monday night over dinner you let your parents know you would be going to the Hideout tomorrow night to see Corroded Coffin play. Your dad hummed, “Is this to see the same boy you went out with this weekend?” You nodded, “He invited me and Suzie last week and-” “And he told you to be there this week”, Suzie chimed in. Your dad’s brows knit, “Oh he told her, did he?” You blushed, “It may have been suggested heavily that I go.” Your mom smiled, “But do you want to go?” “Yes”, you admitted, “I would like to go.” Your dad took another bite of his dinner, “Alright, well don’t be out too late since it’s a school night. And if Suzie wants to go, take her.” You turned to Suzie, “Want to go with Brain?” She nodded in excitement.
Eddie was firm that you should wear his jacket to the Hideout tonight, you made sure your outfit for school would go well with it for later. Parking in the school lot, Suzie was quick to tell you she’d see you after school and darted off. You grabbed your backpack and slung it on your shoulder, slowly making your way to the doors. As you made your way down the halls to your first class a familiar fluffy haired boy appeared at your side, “Good morning Princess.” You sleepily chuckled, “Good morning Dungeon Master.” “Oh I love when you talk HellFire to me”, he admitted. You playfully shoved him and laughed.
Taking your seats in art, you both worked on your current projects assigned by Ms Jeffries. She played some light music in the background as she walked up and down the rows of tables to supervise people’s work. Ms Jeffries passed you and Eddie, providing a hum to confirm your projects were coming along well. Jonathan turned around to ask you for a few colors you were utilizing when he got a better look at your project, “Woah” he let out, bringing the entire class to turn around.
You shhh’d him and covered your work, “Don’t judge Jonathan.” Everyone tried to prop themselves up in their seats to look over your and at your project. Jonathan laughed, “That has to be one of the best in the cl-” “Something I can help you with Mr. Byers? Ms. Bingham?”, Ms Jeffries’ voice rang. You and Jonathan shook your heads and looked down. She turned around to the rest of the class, “Go back to your projects.” Eddie couldn’t help but pick on you, “Look at you, Y/N, a trouble maker. Sounds like I’m rubbing off on you.” You gently elbowed him and went back to your work.
After school, you and Suzie went to load into your car. The two of you wanted to get homework done, eat and refresh before the Hideout tonight. Eddie watched you from his van as you pulled out, although you never confirmed you were going, he hoped you took his request seriously and that you'd be there tonight.
Stomachs were full, homework was done and you were refreshing your look from the day- cleaning up your eyeliner, spritzing a dash of perfume, and slipping into Eddie's jacket. Suzie had sighed loud enough that you could hear it from your room. You made your way across the hall, "What's wrong Slayer?" She was frustrated, "All of my clothes seem too playful for a place like the Hideout." Your face crinkled with confusion, "I'm not following." Suzie put her head in her hands and sighed again, "Look at you. You look like you would fit in at the Hideout. You fit the look. And I don't." Her voice was sad as she continued, "I want to look the part." This pulled at your heartstrings and started ruffling through Suzie's clothes, and found something that was a bit more the "look" according to Suzie. She hugged you and quietly said, "Thank you for always knowing what I need." The two of you made your way downstairs, saying goodbyes to your folks and headed for the Hideout.
The Hideout was a factory style bar, red brick exterior, black metal doors, and high windows to avoid people from looking in regularly. You had pulled into the parking lot, at first you weren't sure it was the right place until you got out and saw the oversized neon sign that read "the Hideout."
The lot wasn't at full capacity, but still plenty of vehicles for a Tuesday. You could spot Eddie's van peeking out from the side alley where performers would enter. You kept Suzie close as you made your way to the door. An oversized bouncer stood at the door, "ID", his voice boomed. You handed your driver's license to him with a smile. He looked at you up and down, then to Suzie, "You two are just kids, huh?" You nodded, "Yep, but we have some friends playing here tonight." He raised his eyebrow and pulled a black marker from his back pocket, "Give me your left hand." You and Suzie held out your hands and the towering man drew an 'X' on the back of your hands. He looked at you, "This is going to tell the bartenders you're underage- so no funny business of trying to buy alcohol from us." He held the door open, Suzie held your hand as you both went inside.
Corroded Coffin's usual crowd had been 5 drunks. Lately Eddie noticed it was growing, shows would have 15 people, then 25, then 40. Tonight, was the biggest crowd they'd seen. Eddie, Gareth and Jeff were backstage, tuning instruments and warming up. Periodically, Eddie would peek out the curtain to see if you were here. Jeff watched Eddie pace, "Eds it's fine, she'll be here." Gareth chimed in, "Don't freak out. Just focus on the show."
One of the bouncers, who had gotten to know the CC boys and liked them, was walking by. His voice boomed, "Eddie, if you keep pacing like that we'll have to replace the flooring." "Sorry Tom, got lost in thought", Eddie muttered back. Tom looked to the rest of the band, "Is he okay?" Eddie huffed, "I'm right here, ya know." Gareth chuckled, "Eddie's nervous because he invited his girlfriend and he hasn't seen her in the crowd yet." Tom whipped his head to Eddie, raising his eyebrow, "Should I keep an eye out for her?" Jeff chirped, "Yeah, could you?" Tom asked what you looked like, and Eddie described you. It was clear to everyone how much Eddie really liked you. Tom wished the band good luck and said he'd look out for you if he saw you. "And she's wearing my jacket", Eddie shouted right before Tom was out of earshot. Tom provided a thumbs up and disappeared towards the general standing room and bar area. Eddie realized, he didn't deny that he thought of you as his girlfriend.
You had gotten cups of water from the bar for you and Suzie, then the two of you made your way through the crowd. Somehow you picked the best time as others went to the bathroom or to refresh their drinks between the sets, you managed to be right up front. As the sound check crew switched out some equipment, Suzie pulled on you. You leaned down to hear her, "Looks like Corroded is next." You looked up and the banner along the wall had been changed to now show Corroded Coffin.
Not even 10 minutes later, the lights dimmed and a voice came over the speakers, "You know them, you love them, they're here every other week- Corroded Coffin!" There were more cheers, whistles and claps than the band was used to. The boys walked out of stage, Eddie looked along the sea (150ish people) looking for you. He figured you'd be in the middle or back. When he didn't see you immediately, he shook his head and carried on, "Thank you! We are Corroded Coffin. Some of you are old faces and some new." He looked back to the rest of the band and into the mic said, "Let's get it!"
The opening chords began and you felt electric, it was one of your favorites from the tape Suzie had. Your hair was whipping to the opening cords, and Eddie began singing. You sang along. During the second verse, Eddie thought he heard you in the crowd. He looked down and there you were singing his own song to him. You looked amazing in his jacket, your smile and energy vibrant. He even saw Suzie getting into it the music with you. Eddie gained a whole other level of confidence that you were there.
Corroded Coffin played a few more songs, then the boys took a water break. After taking a few sips, Eddie came back on the mic, "Wow, what a crowd. Thank you all for being here." Cheers of all kinds rang out to encourage more songs. Eddie cleared his throat, "So this next one is new. And I wrote it for someone who is trouble." He looked down at you and winked. Suzie elbowed you and giggled. Eddie continued, "She's become something special to me. So it'd mean a lot if you all liked it." The crowd erupted as the opening chords started.
You were in a wave of admiration, your eyes wide with hope that the dedication Eddie just said really was for you. Although the song was heavy, in their Corroded Coffin way, the lyrics were clear, "She's put a spell on me, but I don't want out. I'm dying to get closer, closer. Don’t let her change her mind. I'd crumble if she set me free and said it was over, over." The crowd was eating it up.
Tom had been working the barricades tonight, and during the new song, he had picked up that you were there. You fit the description and clearly had Eddie's jacket on. Tom watched your enjoyment and it reassured him that Eddie picked a good girl to be his girlfriend.
Corroded Coffin's set had ended, the band made their way backstage. Since you and Suzie were at the barricade, you'd have to wait for the room to clear a little before you could head for the doors. You turned towards the entrance, before you could take a step, a large hand appeared on your shoulder. You turned to see Tom, "Are you Y/N?" You nodded, "Yeah. Did I do something wrong?" Tom laughed, "No. I'm sorry if I spooked you. I'm Tom. I was asked by the band to keep an eye out for you." You looked at Suzie confused, then back to Tom. He laughed again, he waved over two more bouncers and held out his hand to you, "Here, let's get you backstage." You made sure Suzie was lifted out of the general area first, then you followed. Tom admired that you put someone before yourself.
The band was packing up, they were on a high of their own. This was the biggest crowd they've had and you had been there. It felt like a great night. Tom's laugh echoed, bringing the three boys out of their performance high. They listened intently as Tom's voice got closer, "No way. Eddie. Eddie Munson did that for you?" Eddie knit his brows confused by who Tom was talking to until he heard Suzie's voice, "Yep. We've all been certain he's in love with her." Then Eddie heard your voice, you laughed, "Suzie, shut up. That isn't true." This made Eddie's heart race, you were here, you just saw Corroded Coffin play, and he couldn't wait to see you.
Tom opened the curtain, "Hey CC, I brought some visitors." Jeff and Gareth teasingly raised their eyebrows at Eddie. Eddie gritted his teeth, "Don't either of you dare say anything to embarrass me." The curtain pulled back, you and Suzie walked through. You turned to Tom, "Thanks Tom." "No problem. Anything for Eddie's girlfriend", Tom replied and disappeared. Jeff and Gareth were chuckling, realizing Eddie didn't tell Tom differently earlier when they asked him to look out for you. You bit your cheek and decided to change the topic, "That was amazing!" Suzie chimed in, "Corroded live is nothing like the tape. You guys sounded amazing!" Suzie made her way to Jeff and Gareth as they hung out. Suzie could see the way Eddie was looking at you and thought it best to give the two of you space. All of them knew Eddie wanted to be alone with you.
Eddie stepped closer to you, feeling the blush rise in your cheeks, you looked down to try to hide it. Eddie's hand snuck under your chin and tipped it upward, forcing you to look at him. He smirked, "Is the floor that much more entertaining?" You stuck your tongue out, "No." His hand was still under your chin, and he took a step closer to you, "Then how about I show you something?" Confusion washed over your face and you looked to Suzie then back to Eddie. "Slayer will be fine, we're not leaving the building", Eddie quietly reassured you. You nodded and he removed his hand from under your chin and grabbed your hand.
You quickly intertwined your fingers with Eddie's as he started making his way down one of the dim hallways behind the stage. You didn't want to slip out of his grip or trip over anything. He looked back at you when you squeezed his hand tighter. He stopped, "I won't let anything happen to you Princess." You squeezed his hand again as the two of you continued through what felt like a labyrinth.
Eddie leaned into a door and it creaked open, revealing a balcony overlooking the stage. The area was barely used, but with it being above the stage and speakers it was relatively quiet. There was a pleather U shaped couch that Eddie led you to. You took a seat and looked around. Your smart-ass couldn't help but poke, "Bring all your girlfriends up here, Munson?" He scooted closer to you, "Want to know a secret?" He looked around, playfully making it seem like anyone else might here him. He leaned to whisper in your ear, "I've never had a girlfriend."
You nudged him in disbelief and rolled your eyes. You felt he was being dishonest and started to get up. Eddie grabbed your hand and pulled you back down into him. You were now in his lap, and looking into his eyes. He was searching your eyes for any indication you'd believe him, "I'm serious Y/N. I've never had a girlfriend. Sure there's been dates or a hookup, but not a single girlfriend." You searched his eyes, looking for any indication he was lying- he wasn't.
He wrapped an arm around you, "You know, believe it or not, I'm not everyone's type." He tried to keep it playful. You shifted yourself slightly so you could lean into Eddie a bit more, "Tom seems to be under the impression you have a girlfriend." Eddie laughed, "Yeah, you can thank Jeff and Gareth for that title. They called you that earlier." You hummed happily, "And then you wrote a song for someone too?" Eddie bit his lip, "Yeah, there's this girl. She inspires me."
You leaned in closer, leaving a small gap between your lips and Eddie's. The anticipation rose within both of you. Eddie's eyes kept flickering between your lips and your eyes. You whispered, "If I'm the girl you wrote that song for, then kiss me." Eddie quickly closed the gap. His lips were warm and softer than you had thought they'd be. His hand holding the side of your face, the metal rings trying to cool the heat of your skin. Pulling yourselves from the kiss, you both clearly wanted more than just this one moment. But it was time to collect everyone and go home.
You couldn't wipe the smile from your face the entire drive home. Suzie was dying to ask you questions, but the exhaustion from the excitement of the show overcame her. You got her into bed, then dragged yourself into bed. Your dreams were filled with Eddie.

Chapter Text
The kiss you and Eddie shared at the Hideout seemed to have escalated your feelings for one another. Every chance you got, you wanted to see him. Classes, picking up the freshmen from HellFire, every other Tuesday at the Hideout, it didn't seem to matter. You were there, and Eddie couldn't be happier.
You and Suzie knew the freedom would end if grades slipped or responsibilities went unfulfilled. The two of you didn't want this freedom and fun to go away, so you stayed on top of it all- studying, tutoring, chauffeuring. Everything possible to keep this going.
Dustin and Suzie had started going on dates almost every weekend, sometimes both Fridays and Saturdays. Their dates meant you and Eddie had dates. Sometimes it was a group date, sometimes you'd drop the kiddos off and go on your own date. It had been like this for a little over a month.
Thanksgiving break had arrived, this is where you and your parents would discuss winter break plans. Usually your winter breaks were spent in Utah with the Bingham tribe, but there was silence. Now that you thought of it, neither your aunt or uncle seemed to write or call Suzie. It was Eden who would call, but she'd call for you and verify that Suzie was still okay.
While having your small Thanksgiving dinner, you asked, "So, what are the plans for Christmas this year?" The table went silent, your parents looked at one another. They made eye shifts and eyebrow wiggles as if speaking their own language.
After minutes of this, your dad cleared his throat, "Well Y/N, your mother and I are going to Utah." Confusion rested on your face, "And what about me and Suzie?" Your mother sighed, "They've asked you not to come." "What?!", you exclaimed, "They don't want me there? So it's you guys and Suzie." Your dad clarified, "No. They just want me and your mother." Suzie registered what was being said. She sat there quietly with tears filling her eyes, as if she somehow knew this was going to happen. Her voice broke as she asked, "They don't want me in their home, do they? It's because of my separation from the church, isn't it."
Your mom pulled Suzie in for a hug as Suzie began to cry. Your mom said in a hushed tone, "The only reason your father and I are going is to tell them how wonderful Suzie has been and how she has grown into her own." You looked at your dad in disbelief, "Can't you just tell them that over the phone?" Your dad sighed, "No. If my brother is one thing, it's stubborn. He said either your mother and I visit or no one." You cleared your throat, "How long will you be there? Will we even celebrate Christmas?" Your parents looked at one another then your dad answered, "We've been asked to stay the entire week of Christmas and will be back after the New Year." "I can't understand why they suddenly have such a problem with Suzie", your mom chimed, "but if Suzie has to stay here, we need you to stay with her." You met your mom's eyes and nodded.
You held out your arms for Suzie to transfer from your mom to you. With small sniffles and tears still running down her cheeks, you took Suzie to your room. You did your best to comfort her and promised her that the rest of Thanksgiving break and Winter break would be one to remember.
Suzie was in a funk for the remainder of Thanksgiving break. You did your best in being near Suzie. Most of the break was spent switching in between your two rooms, trying to cheer her up, listening to music with her. But most importantly you were making sure Suzie ate and showered. Getting Suzie into the shower was harder for you than you thought because even over the rushing water from the shower, you could hear Suzie sobbing. It broke your heart, but you didn’t want to let it show.
Dustin would call your phone line in hopes of talking to Suzie. She wasn't prepared to tell him that she was practically disowned by her own parents. You took every call that came through from him. You reassured him on the phone that she'd get through what she was going through and she'd see him Monday at school. Dustin relayed your message to Eddie as well. Truth be told, the Dungeon Master had been hoping to see you over this short break. He missed you.
You and Suzie pulled into the school parking lot on Monday morning. Suzie had spent most of the break crying. Although she felt empty, like a husk, she knew she needed to keep moving forward. You put the car in park and tried to give her an encouraging smile, for the first time in days, she had smiled back. No words were exchanged, but she leaned over to hug you, then got out of the car to gather with her own friends before class.
Eddie had watched you pull into the parking lot, and saw the silent exchange between you and Suzie. He knew something had clearly happened, but didn’t know what nor if he should ask. He did his best to reach you before you reached your friends. He was hoping to have a private moment with you, but his feet couldn’t carry him to you fast enough. He decided to hang back, he’d have some time almost to himself with you in Art.
The upperclassmen of your friends gathered around you. You vaguely shared what had happened over break to Suzie, but did not mention your parents being out of town. As much as you trusted your friends, you were worried one of them might say it to the wrong person and a party would break out at your house. You were responsible, and trusted by your parents, but you knew you were not strong enough to handle a whole party at your house the way that Steve did.
The bell rang, you and Jonathan started making your way to Ms. Jeffries’ art class. Jonathan nudged you, “Hey, regardless of what’s going on, I think Suzie is lucky to have you.” You gave a smile and nodded. You chose to keep the rest of the walk quiet as you could feel tears swelling in your eyes and a lump in your throat. It was unfair that Suzie had grown into her own so much here, and it was being held against her. You tried your best to not let it affect you, but to have to watch Suzie cry like that broke you. You quietly took your seat in art.
Eddie appeared moments later in his seat. He could see you were drained, but you did your best to hide your distress. He had missed you so much. He thought about how slow the break felt because he hadn’t had a chance to see you or talk to you. Eddie decided to lean in, he thought he was going to be smooth with his words. What he uttered was, “I missed your face.” You let out a small giggle. Eddie turned red realizing that was not as smooth or as Shakespearean as he had hoped for. You kissed his cheek and whispered back, “I missed your face.” Eddie was at ease that you felt the same.
Throughout the day you received updates on Suzie. Everyone in the group was clearly looking out for her and this put you in a better state of mind knowing you didn't have to worry so much. With all the updates, you felt comfortable to skip lunch and take the hour to finish a class project that would be due in the near future. Arriving in the library, you began scanning the aisles, looking for the right book to cite for your final portion of the project. You buried yourself in literature, almost building a tower of books. You began sifting through them, slowly examining the table of contents, indexes and notes for the right contribution to this project.
Eddie had been watching the cafeteria door, waiting for you from the HellFire table. Any site of someone dressed in something similar, he whipped his head hoping it was you. Mike snickered, "Eddie, if you keep whipping your head like that you'll break your neck." Eddie shot a look at Mike but said nothing. Dustin spoke up, "Come on Eddie, tell us what's up." Eddie shook his head, "Nothing. Just looking for Y/N, she was quiet all morning and didn't say much." Eddie cleared his throat, "I'm just worried. She seems in her head."
"Well she has a right to be", Suzie chimed in. The whole table looked at Suzie quizzically. Suzie cleared her throat, "Over Thanksgiving Y/N and I found out my parents have essentially disowned me." Suzie looked around the table, mouths were agape. Dustin wrapped his arm around Suzie, "Suzie-poo. Why didn't you tell me?" She let out a heavy sigh, "Because it wasn't something I was going to mention Dusty. But if Y/N isn't herself, it's my fault." Will questioned, "How could that be your fault?" Suzie's eyes saddened, "Y/N spent all of break taking care of me, comforting me. She should have spent it with you." Suzie's eyes flashed to Eddie.
Eddie could feel heat creep up his neck. You and him had had quite a few dates in the last few months. Not to mention his attraction to you growing as the two of you started to become more intimate. Eddie slumped in his seat. How could he be getting close to you, but have had no idea what was going on? He felt disconnected from you, like somehow he should have been there or done more.
The rest of HellFire reassured Suzie that they wouldn't ever disown her, if anything it helped her fit in better to the HellFire crew. They were their own band of misfits. Suzie was grateful for the love and support. Will and Gareth reminded her that you wouldn't hold anything against Suzie, like giving up your break to comfort her.
The lunch bell rang, and most of the group departed for their classes. Eddie called out, “Hey Slayer.” Suzie turned around as Eddie caught up to her, “Are you sure Y/N is going to be okay?” Suzie bit her lip, “I think so. She’s given everything to comfort me. But I do know she has missed you.” Eddie nodded, “Thanks for that. Now head off to class.” Suzie gave the Dungeon Master a quick hug, and scurried to class.
Eddie wanted to be early for Mr Matheson’s so he could talk to you as long as possible. You came into the room with an ethereal glow around you. Eddie could tell you had been drained yourself, but you weren’t going to let anyone know it or show it. You took your seat next to him, “Hey, sorry about this morning. I wasn’t awake enough yet.” You were trying to humbly hide the real reason for exhaustion. Eddie grabbed your hand, “You don’t always have to be so strong you know.” Your face scrunched in confusion. Eddie smirked at how adorable you were in your state of confusion, “Suzie told us everything at lunch.” Your mouth slightly gapped, “I- It wasn’t my news to tell-” “I know”, Eddie reassured you, “I just wanted you to know I know. And it’s okay to let your guard down with me.” You squeezed his hand, you were going to thank him, but Mr. Matheson called the class to attention for a pop quiz. You and Eddie joined the class in a collective groan.
After class, Eddie walked you to your locker and then to the parking lot. You both caught up on what each other’s breaks were actually like, both of you wishing it had been spent with the other. Opening the doors to the parking lot, you spotted Suzie, she seemed in a better mood. Eddie wrapped his hand around your waist and pulled you into him, “Alright, get Slayer home safely. I’ll call you tonight.” You kissed him quickly then slid out of his arms. He watched you and Suzie book it to your car. Eddie collected Jeff and Gareth and did the same.
Suzie wanted to do her homework in your room while you did yours. In between homework assignments, Suzie shared that she was feeling better and shared with the group what had happened over break. You were proud of her that she was comfortable enough to share with the group, but also being honest with you about it. It meant the world to you that even in this moment of hurt that Suzie wasn’t pushing you or her new friends away.
Just after dinner, the phone in your room rang. It was Eddie, “Hey Princess.” “Hey Dungeon Master”, you replied in a sassy tone. He laughed on the other end of the phone, “How about you let me sneak in tonight?” You were stunned. Sure you and Eddie liked being alone, but he had never snuck into nor had you snuck out before. Eddie called you back to him, “Princess… you there?” You stuttered, “I-I’m sorry. Did you just ask what I think you asked?” His voice got low, “Mhmm. Figured it could be our little secret. I didn’t get to see you at all during break.” You cleared your throat, “The house goes dark at 9. Come by at 9:30.” You could hear Eddie smiling, “As you wish.”
You did your best to keep your cool for the rest of the night. You didn’t want to give away that Eddie Munson, the wild haired Dungeon Master you’d been seeing was going to sneak in just to be with you tonight. Your parents said their goodnights to you and Suzie around 8:30. Suzie was still camped out in your room. “Suzie”, you whispered, “umm Eddie is sneaking in soon.” You were waiting for Suzie to gasp or make a commotion, but she didn't. Instead she said, “Oh, yeah. I know.” You knit your brows, “You know?” Suzie bit her lip, “Dustin is sneaking in too.” You were shocked, “What?” You quickly recalibrated the tone and volume of your voice, “What do you mean Dustin is sneaking in too?” “Well”, Suzie began, “Dustin was planning to sneak in your window with Eddie and then scurry across the hall to my room.” That made sense due to where your parent’s room was. Somehow the layouts of the rooms did benefit you and Suzie. Your room was along the back of the house, overlooking the backyard. It would be the most discreet place for them to enter. Still speechless, you asked, “When was this decided?” Suzie gave a gentle smile, “Earlier today. Thought it’d be best if we caused some double trouble.”
You admired Suzie in this moment, to be smart and logical that both the boys you were seeing should be over at the same time. You both discussed what the rules should be and what time you should sneak them out. You cleared your throat, “Brain, if this goes well, maybe we have them over during Winter Break.” Suzie lit up, “Do you mean it?” You nodded, “Why not? Not like mom and dad will be here.” Suzie hugged you, she was ready to depart to her own room to get ready. Before she could leave, you grabbed her hand, “Hey. Take these, just in case.” You gave her condoms, she looked at them then at you. You smiled, “I’d rather you be safe than make a mistake.”
You and Suzie watched the light under your parent’s door turn off just before 9. You both nodded to yourselves and gently closed your doors, leaving a slight crack in them so latches didn’t have to be heard. By 9:20, you could hear your dad snoring from down the hall. And at 9:30, a gentle tap rapped on your window. Opening your curtain to see Dustin and Eddie had climbed the tree in your backyard.
You gently opened the window and whispered, “Hey.” You took a step back and held out your hand to help them both in. Dustin felt shy, “I’m sure you’re wondering why I’m here?” You shook your head, “Nope. Just be quiet.” You held your hand out, guiding him to the hall where Suzie awaited. You gently shut and latched your door. Eddie crawled through your window, closed it and kicked off his boots.
The two of you were like magnets, drawn to each other and in the other’s arms. He brushed a piece of hair behind your ears, “Never thought I’d have alone time with you in your room.” You blushed as you met his eyes. They seemed warmer than usual, his pupils heavily dilated as the two of you leaned in for a kiss. This kiss felt different, it was deeper, more sensual. You let out a moan, and it caught you and Eddie off guard. He smirked and whispered in your ear, “Did I just hear what I think I heard?” His hot breath in your ear sent goosebumps along your skin. You were trying not to be flustered, but your eyes were the size of the moon as you looked up at him and nodded. Eddie let out a low growl, “I’d love to hear you do that again, but maybe a little quieter so we don’t wake the house?”
You kissed him again and Eddie wrapped his arms tight around you, you started walking backwards towards your bed. When the back of your legs hit the edge of the mattress, you pulled on Eddie to try to keep you upright, but it didn’t work. The two of you fell onto your bed. He lifted his head to break from the kiss, his eyes shifting as he took every inch of you in. The way the dimmed light looked on your skin, the sparkle in your eyes, he was hypnotized by you. You were intoxicated by being so close to Eddie. It wasn’t uncommon to end up on his lap during a make out session, but this was different. He was on top of you, in your bed.
Eddie cupped your cheek and whispered, “I don’t think you’ve ever looked more beautiful.” He kissed you gently, you thought it was going to be hot and passionate, but it wasn’t this time. His kisses turned soft and sweet, like honey. He broke away from kissing you once more, “Y/N, do you want to be my girlfriend?”

Chapter Text
You & Eddie had officially been dating, and so had Suzie & Dustin. Seems like that night at your house a few weeks back was the best thing to happen to both of you. Now, with just a couple days from Winter Break, you and Suzie were going to invite the boys to come spend time as they pleased at the house for the break.
The morning started off as any normal school day, you and Suzie got ready and headed down the stairs to eat before departing to school. Descending the stairs, you’ve stopped in your tracks as your parents are scurrying around the living room and dining room. “What’s going on?”, Suzie asked. Your mother stopped and looked at the two of you, as if she had just snapped out of a hypnosis, “Well… Umm” Your father poked his head out from another corner, you could hear the sound of zippers.
Your parents looked at one another then back at you. Your mother spoke, “Y/N, we will be gone before you and Suzie are home today.” You felt concerned, “Why? What happened?” Your father chimed in, “Nothing. Yet.” Your mother continued, “We have to leave sooner than anticipated. A winter storm is coming in. If we don’t go today, we may not be able to make it.” You spoke up, “Are Suzie and I going to be okay here?” Your mother approached you to hug you, “Yes, the storm will hit here too. But I’ve already got extra food, brought out the heavy blankets and have made arrangements with the Harringtons to have them shovel the driveway and walkways for you.” Your father called as he dropped one of the suitcases by the door, “Y/N, we got plenty of firewood in the garage should you need to use the fireplace. And make sure to park your car in the garage.”
You looked at your mom with worry in your eyes, she registered your concerns and spoke, “Do not worry my darling. We will call once we are in Salt Lake. Now hurry along before you and Suzie are late for school.” She kissed your forehead, your dad gave you a hug before the two of you departed for school.
The car ride was quiet. You took note of the sky, it was gray, but no snow yet. There was a chill in the air, and you could sense the storm rolling in. You put on a brave face for Suzie, “Hey”, you looked at her, “It’s going to be fine. We have each other, plenty of supplies, and maybe the boys will come over.” Suzie let a devious smile spread across her face. She couldn’t help but like the idea of having some more time alone with her boyfriend. Pulling into the parking lot, Suzie couldn’t help but ask, “We will be okay, right?” You nodded, “Of course. I wouldn’t let anything happen to us.”
The two of you exited the vehicle and approached your friends before heading inside. Dustin met Suzie halfway then walked with her back to the group of friends. You and Dustin swapped pleasantries, then he let out, “Sounds like HellFire is canceled this week.” Suzie looked confused, and you started looking around for Eddie. Suzie cleared her throat, “Any particular reason?” Dustin smiled, “Well there is that winter storm coming in. Eddie thought it best to cancel so no one is out driving late.” You snickered, “You mean he doesn’t want me driving around late, at night, in the snow.” Dustin chuckled, “Yeah. You know how he gets about you.” You blushed, you had experienced it first hand how Eddie worried about you.
The bell rang bringing you from your haze and you headed towards art with Jonathan. Throughout the halls, there were whispers and gossip around this snow storm. Students were saying they might cancel these last few days of school, others saying it was to be the storm of the century. Jonathan nudged you, “Hey, if you and Suzie need anything, you let me know, alright?” You nodded, “Yeah, I’m a little nervous. The storm rolling in has my parents on the road to Salt Lake already.” Jonathan’s eyes got wide. You smirked, “It’s fine. I guess my mom was up before dawn to stock up on food for the house. My dad brought in firewood. I think we will be okay. Oh and Steve already agreed to come by and shovel the driveway and such.” Jonathan let out a breath, “I’m serious. If you or Suzie need anything- especially with the storm. Will & I will be there.” You smiled and thanked him as the two of you walked into the classroom.
You still hadn’t seen Eddie, you knew he had to be around somewhere since Dustin had mentioned the cancellation of HellFire this week. Your eyes were locked on the door, the invite you were waiting to share with him was on the tip of your tongue. You could feel the heat crawl up the back of your neck as you began to think about how the two of you might spend the break. Seconds before the bell, your fluffy haired boyfriend sprinted in.
Eddie sounded out of breath, took his seat and leaned over to you, “Sorry I’m late princess. Had to get some things ready for this snow storm coming in.” You smirked, “Yeah, about that storm-” Ms. Jeffries walked in and started class, “Alright Alright! Everyone simmer down. I know we all know the storm is coming. But we still have class.” She began her lesson.
By lunch the rumors of break starting early seemed closer to being the truth. The snow had started falling and temperatures were dropping. Suzie flagged you down before you went to sit with the rest of your friends. You approached the HellFire table, and Eddie lit up at getting another chance to see you. You greeted everyone. Suzie perked up, “So…” You raised an eyebrow, “So?” Eddie decided to take this moment to put on his theatrics again.
He rose from his seat, “Princess. It has come to my attention that you and Slayer will have a house all to yourselves over the winter break.” Your eyes quickly shifted from the Dungeon Master that is your boyfriend to Suzie. She mouthed the words, “I’m sorry.” Eddie cleared his throat bringing your attention back to him, “We humbly request that you allow HellFire to come over tonight and tomorrow in hopes of finishing the campaign we are currently enthralled in.” Your eyes scanned the table, each HellFire member with pleading eyes.
You look back at Eddie who is providing a devilishly handsome smirk, “What do you say Princess?” You tapped a finger to your chin for a moment, “I have some conditions.” The leader looked around to all the members who quickly nodded, almost a silent agreement that whatever the terms were, they’d agree. Eddie bowed his head, and fanned out his hand, “Go on. What conditions?” You smiled, “Well IF I allow you into my home, Slayer and I will demand snacks.” You looked at Suzie who was grinning at your terms. You proceeded, “You see, Dungeon Master, Slayer and I enjoy a good s’more. So we will require HellFire members to bring items for those to be made.” Eddie nodded, “What other conditions?” You gently tipped your head to thank him for picking up on the concept of conditions, being plural. With confidence you spoke, “I have other conditions but for your ears only.” The table let out in unison, “ooooooooooo.” Eddie felt himself blush. You blew a kiss to him then said, “But ordering in pizza to the house couldn’t hurt. Now, I must depart. Farewell HellFire.”
Eddie knew he was smitten, you always knew how to match his sass and dramatics which made his feelings for you grow even more. Eddie sat down and looked at Suzie, “Slayer, do you have any idea what additional terms the princess is referring to?” Suzie made a motion of zipping her lips and shrugged. The table fell into discussion of who would bring what item for s’mores and what pizza topping they’d want.
You made your way to your table with your own friends. Steve was quick to get your attention, “Hey Y/N. I know I’m going to be stopping by later today and throughout break to shovel. But let me know if you need anything else.” You sighed, “I wish people would stop treating me and Suzie like we are helpless…” Jonathan chimed in, “No one thinks that Y/N.” Robin agreed, “Yeah. We just know that you’ve given a lot to help Suzie and we know the situation with her parents. We want you to know we are here for you.” Nancy added, “It’s so rude to be leaving you and Suzie alone for break.” Steve spoke up, “Well it’s not just the break now. Her parents left this morning.” Nancy & Robin whipped their eyes to you. Robin scoffed, “Seriously?” You nodded, “It’s true. The storm is supposed to be so bad that they wouldn’t make it to Salt Lake otherwise. But now it sounds like HellFire will be at my house tonight. So we will be fine. I appreciate each of you.”
Jonathan cleared his throat, “Wait HellFire would be at your house?” You registered that usually you drove all the kids to their respected homes after HellFire usually. “Shit”, you let out, “Is there anyway you’ll be able to pick up Will & Mike?” You started scrambling to figure out how to get everyone home. Nancy reached for your hand, it brought you back from your spiraling, “Y/N. It’s okay. We will figure it out. You always take the kiddos home. We can come collect them for once.” You felt a massive weight lift from you as Nancy’s words calmed you.
Classes the rest of the day felt unfocused and derailed as more teachers were slowly confirming suspicions about break starting early. You and Steve were chatting on your way to Mr. Matheson’s. Mostly about what time he should come by to shovel the driveway and walkway so that the kids could be picked up from your house tonight and not worry about stomping through snow or slipping. Eddie was already waiting for you when you walked in the door. You took your assigned seat next to him. His eyes were glued to you as you pulled out your notebook and textbooks.
You stuck your tongue out at him, “You’re staring too long Munson.” He chuckled, “Can’t help it Princess. You piqued my interest earlier. May I ask what this additional condition you are requesting of me?” You blushed and leaned in, letting out a whisper, “I want you to come stay at my house as much as possible over Winter break.” Eddie pulled back, a bit stunned. It felt like a lump in his throat. Not because he didn’t want to, he had been dying for more alone time with you. He himself had been wanting to ask you for something more intimate, and this was that golden opportunity. But now he had waited too long to respond and he could see your face change from being excited to ask, to embarrassed. You had started to think you had crossed a line, maybe he wasn’t ready for more time with you. You had wanted to get more intimate with him lately, and this would be a great opportunity. But Eddie sat there wide eyed, and quiet for a bit too long. You went to open your mouth and a nervous laugh came out, “It’s fine. You don’t have to-” He interjected, “I’d love to.”
LOVE. He’d love to? Why was that the first time you heard him say the “L” word? It sent a chill down your spine. You shook yourself from the fixation as he continued, “I’ll grab some stuff and stay over if that’s what you want.” “I do”, you couldn’t confirm that that was your desire quick enough. He laughed, “Well you got it Princess.” He snuck a quick kiss to your cheek before class had started.
Mr. Matheson walked in, you could tell he was flustered. He let out a heavy sigh, “Alright, I think we can all settle down and-” The intercom broke his sentence. Loudly over the system was the voice of the principal, “Hello Hawkins High students. As many of you are aware, there is a heavy winter storm coming in early this evening. For the safety of all staff and students, we will be taking winter weather days tomorrow and the next. This means winter break will start after the dismissal bell today. Your current class will resume as normal after this announcement. Please ensure you take home everything today that you will need for the winter break and be sure to watch Channel 5 News for any additional weather updates. Have a safe Winter Break, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
The classroom was silent for a moment, then roared with kids talking about what they were going to do with their extra break days. Mr. Matheson tried to wrangle everyone’s attention back to him with no luck. Eddie took the chance to lean over to you, “That’s where I was this morning.” You looked confused, “What?” He smirked, “I was packing up HellFire stuff with Jeff & Gareth because I had a feeling break would start early. But since I did that earlier, I can run home and grab a bag to stay for a few nights and come over.” Your heart sank a little, “Oh, only for a few nights?” He stuck his tongue out, “Well I’d need to go home to get new clothes & probably check in with Uncle Wayne. But I’d be back. I can’t pass up an opportunity to spend some alone time with my girlfriend.”
The day had ended, Eddie walked you to your locker as you put away your textbooks. You wouldn’t need them over break. You did a quick clean of your locker and headed towards the front where all your friends would be. Eddie pulled you close, “I’m going to grab my stuff before it gets bad. I’ll be over in a bit.” He gave you a kiss and quietly growled as he had to let go of you. He knew he’d have time alone with you, but this particular moment he wanted more of. Eddie grabbed Jeff & Gareth and set out to grab his own things but make a stop to grab s'mores fixings per your conditions
You went to collect the HellFire kids and loaded up in your car. The snow had started sticking to the roads. You were very careful and drove slowly to your house. Pulling into your garage, Mike let out, “Holy shit Y/N! Did your dad cut down a whole forest?!” You laughed as Mike was referring to the wood pile in the garage, there was quite a bit. I guess your parents were more worried than they let on. Everyone unloaded from your car and moved into the house.
You took yourself upstairs and put on a comfortable pair of sweatpants and a spare HellFire shirt Eddie had given you. In moving some things around, you found a note from your folks. It read, “Our dearest Y/N. It was not easy to decide to leave you and Suzie. We will do our best to convince your uncle and aunt of their loss by no longer accepting Suzie. You have shown her so much love and compassion since her move, but be kind to yourself this break. Have some friends over, be a little reckless- but not too reckless. You’ve earned it. Love Mom & Dad. P.s. Christmas presents are in our closet. You may have them whenever you’d like.”
Your heart was full of love and appreciation. You put the note on your vanity, you could hear the laughs and giggles from downstairs as the kids settled in. The phone in your room rang, you went to grab it. Answering with, “Hello?” “Hi honey”, it was your mom, “I wanted to let you know we made it to Nebraska. We stopped for an early dinner and are going to keep driving. Everything go okay?” “Yes”, you replied, “Everything is going well. We started break early today.” “That’s lovely. Make sure to have fun, okay? Thanksgiving break was tough on you Y/N.” You bit your lip, “I uhh saw your note. About having friends over, uhhh Suzie and I have friends coming in a bit.” Your mom laughed, “We trust you. You’ve had the birds and the bees talk. Just protect Suzie. And be mindful to only have friends over, okay? We don’t need strangers in the house.” “Yes momma”, you cooed, “I understand.” You could hear your mom smile, “Well we love you and Suzie very much. We will call tomorrow when we get to Salt Lake.” You said your goodbyes and disconnected.
As you came down the stairs, Dustin was quick to pull you aside. “Y/N, can I talk to you for a sec?” You nodded, “What’s up?” Dustin’s face twisted, he felt awkward, “Suzie umm. Well Suzie asked me to come over quite a bit of the break. She mentioned me staying over. Is- Is that okay with you?” You pulled him in for a hug and squished him, “Ohhhh you’re so sweet. Yes of course, we’d love to have you here. As long as you want to be here.” He suddenly released the tension in his jaw, “Okay. I feel better now. I didn’t know if you knew or were okay with it.” You laughed, “If you promise to keep a secret? Eddie is coming to stay with me for part of the break too. So you’re welcome to be here.” Dustin laughed, and the sound of Eddie’s van rumbled as it got closer to the house.
“Boys”, you called out, “Can you go help Eddie, Gareth & Jeff bring in whatever is needed? Suzie, come help me clean up the dining room quick?” Everyone scattered to your request. You set HellFire up in the dining room so they’d have the right space for the map, but also to keep the living room freed up for s’mores later.
Gareth walked into the house, “Y/N! Eddie said pizzas are on the way!” “Thank you”, you called back. It seemed everyone filed into the house except for Eddie. You approached the front door as he appeared. He smiled at the thought of coming home to you like this. You were glowing as you reached him, giving him a kiss. You took his duffle bag from his shoulder, “I’ll put this in my room.” Before you could depart, he pulled you in for one more kiss, “Hurry back princess.”

Chapter Text
The doorbell rang, pizza was finally here. You collected the money from Eddie as he was finishing his own personal touches to the D&D map. Throwing open your front door, you were shocked that Eddie had ordered 4 pizzas, you imagined that was too much food. You slipped an extra $5 to the delivery driver, with the winter storm coming in, anyone who was on the road was crazy. You juggled the pizzas to the kitchen, as the night progressed you saw it was almost the perfect amount of pizza for the HellFire crew.
You did your best to follow along with where the D&D campaign was as you sat in to watch. You perched yourself quietly in a chair at the end of the long dining room table to avoid being a distraction to anyone. Eddie was doing his best to stay on track with his dungeon master duties, but he would easily be distracted by you. You kept making this concentration face as each die was cast, and at every cheer for victory you tried to chime in. It was intoxicating to Eddie.
However, the rest of the party would regularly catch him zoning out and have to bring him back to the game. After what felt like the 50th time of Eddie being called out for not being focused on the game, he decided it was time to take a break from the campaign and that s’mores should be made. The younger ones prepped the graham crackers and chocolate while Jeff and Gareth started the fire in your fireplace.
You sat back and watched everyone else make toast their marshmallows in the fireplace before you made your own. You finally cozied up near the fire and began roasting your own marshmallow. Mike scoffed when he saw your marshmallow, “Y/N, that’s burnt! You ruined a good marshmallow.” You whipped your head to Mike, “I like my marshmallows burnt and blackened on the outside, but the inside is soft and gooey.” Suzie chimed in, “You sure have a type Y/N.” Everyone laughed and Eddie blushed, he had never thought of himself that way, but Suzie wasn’t wrong. Eddie was blackened and scary looking on the outside but he had been the sweetest and mushiest just for you.
S’mores were devoured and it was already late. Eddie decided to put a pin in the campaign and the group could pick it up tomorrow, weather permitting. You rang Jonathan to come pick up Will & Mike. Steve had just finished shoveling, and you invited him in to warm up a bit. He was kind enough to offer to take Jeff & Gareth home. There was a slight break in the storm that would only last another hour or so before the heavy stuff really began.
Before you knew it, it was the four of you remaining: you, Suzie, Dustin and Eddie. Eddie had snuffed out the fire in the fireplace, you had made sure doors were locked and lights outside were off. Suzie and Dustin took charge of cleaning up the living room, kitchen and dining room. Then the four of you met back at the base of the staircase. You gulped, realizing what this meant. Before Suzie and Dustin could sneak away, you gave a warning, “If you two do the deed- I don’t need to know. Just wrap it up.” Dustin’s face turned red as he stuttered, “Uhh- I.” You held your hand up, “I don’t want to or need to know. Suzie knows what’s what. Just be wise. If either of you need anything, Eddie and I will be in my room.” You let the two younger teens head upstairs. Before you could go up the stairs yourself, Eddie pulled you to him by your waist. You were face to face with him. His smile was from ear to ear as he spoke, “I like the way you say that you and I will be in your room.” You shook your head, “It’s the truth.” He cupped your cheek, “Doesn’t matter, I still liked it.” He gave you a kiss and you pulled him up the stairs to your room.
You closed your bedroom door and dimmed the lights in your room. Eddie slipped off his jeans and shirt and made his way into your bed. You decided to sleep in your panties and the HellFire shirt you had on. You clicked the lights off and crawled into bed, slipping into your boyfriend's arms. As both your eyes adjusted to the darkness of your room, you could see the other smiling. It was one thing to be Eddie’s girlfriend, and to be close to him. This felt different, he had been in your room before, you had been in his arms before, but not with this type of intimacy hanging in the air.
In the darkness, you started to trace Eddie’s tattoos with your fingers. Eddie’s hands slowly rubbing your back to bring you comfort. He quietly whispered, “Is the ink more entertaining than me?” You smirked, meeting his eyes in the darkness, “No. I just haven’t had a chance to be this close and personal with them.” Eddie quietly chuckled and brought your face closer to his, “If me being here is too much I can sleep elsewhere or only come over during the day-” You kissed him to shut him up.
One kiss quickly turned to two, two kisses turned into a makeout session. Eddie pulled you into him, one hand squeezing your hip, the other on the small of your back. One of your hands was placed on his chest, the other began weaving your fingers through his hair. You were craving to get closer to him, to show him you didn’t want him going anywhere else.
He broke the intense moment, “Whoa.” Your eyes had worry in them, “Whoa good or bad?” He leaned in to be close to your lips once more, “Whoa incredibly good.” You whispered, “I don’t want you to go anywhere else. I just- I haven’t been this close to someone before.” “I don’t want to go anywhere else”, he replied, “I don’t need you to rush anything either. I haven’t felt this way about anyone before. I've never had someone matter to me like this.”
It felt like a lump had formed in your throat, like certain words were on the tip of your tongue. Even in the dark, Eddie could see your thoughts going a mile a minute. He softened and tucked a piece of hair behind your ear. His gentle gesture brought you back to the moment as he let slip, “There’s no one like you, Y/N” Your smile showed in the darkness like a lighthouse in the night, “There’s no one like you, Eddie.” He sealed your agreed feelings with another kiss.
The kisses were getting harder to break away from, slowly becoming hungrier. Eddie tugged on your hips until there was no space between the two of you. Your hips gently grinding against your boyfriend. He began to gently bite your lip and your body felt like it was on fire. With his hands still on your hips, you decided to roll against him until you were straddling him.
He broke away from the kisses to admire you in the darkness. The bits of light that shown through your curtains had him in awe. You could see him smiling in the slight light. You smiled back, "What's up Munson?" He let out a chuckle, "You. You are so beautiful, Y/N." You placed a hand to his chest, and blush filled your cheeks, "Quite the charmer huh?" "Only for you", Eddie replied, "You're the only one I want to charm."
Eddie sat up a bit, and you wrapped your arms around his neck. The two of you started to twist limbs around the other, your fingers running through his hair. Eddie shifted you in the right way that you let a moan slip from you and directly into his mouth. He purred, “I love that sound.” You giggled as he began kissing your neck. As if his lips would unlock more lustrous sounds from you- he was right. Moans and whimpers left your lips, goosebumps painting your skin as hit hot breath hit your neck.
A devious smile stretched across Eddie’s face, “I want to hear more.” He rolled you around, your back was to the mattress, and he was looming over you. He kissed you gently, “Can I give you more Princess.” You nodded. Eddie buried his face in your neck and slowly felt your sides up, his hands gently lifting your HellFire shirt.
Right before he would have exposed your breasts, he stopped to look at you, “Is this okay?” You took the opportunity to strip the shirt off, and quickly peeled off your panties yourself and giggled, “Does that answer your question?” Eddie mindlessly nodded with his jaw slacked. He heard your question but was so focused on your skin. The little bit of light that barely illuminated the room was more than enough for Eddie to see you. He was hypnotized as he looked your body up and down, you were naked, in front of him, for him.
After a few more moments of staring, you called out to him, “Eddie, babe, did I lose you?” His eyes met yours, “I didn’t realize I was in the presence of a model.” He hungrily licked his lips then spoke again, “You’re breathtaking.”
You pulled him towards you, he continued kissing from where he left off. Making his way to your collarbone, then to your breasts. Each kiss leaving an invisible burn of where he had just been, as if you could see every lip mark on your skin. His kisses trailed down you, and you wove your fingers through his wild locks. Eddie kissed a path down to just under your navel, then looked up to meet your eyes.
There was that devious smile of his again. He gently trailed his fingers up your leg and to your thigh. Slowly bringing his hand to stop on top of your thighs, you instinctually slowly spread them apart for him. His hand got closer to your entrance while keeping his eyes on you. He watched you squirm as he got closer to your core. He whispered, “Everything okay Princess?” You let out a confirming hum. He kissed the inner part of your thigh, “Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle”
Eddie’s tongue suddenly flat on your womanhood and you let out a gasp. His tongue licking up your wetness then sliding up to your clit as he began to slip a finger inside of you. Pleasure washed over you and took his time with you.
You began to feel a knot tighten in your stomach, like a ball of fire was trying to leave you. Eddie felt you tense up as you let you, “Eddie, I- I think I’m about to…” He kept his pace and motion through your entire orgasm. The moans, gasps and begging that was release with it all was a song only Eddie would get to hear. It turned him on even more that he would bring all of that out of you.
He sat up and licked his fingers clean, “Princess you taste like heaven.” You leaned up to kiss him, getting some of the remaining flavor of you off of his lips. You tugged on Eddie’s boxers, he knew you wanted him next. He shimmied out of his boxers and towered over you. Taking the tip of his hardened cock and circling it around your still very wet hole. He flicked his eyes up to you asking the unspoken questions of ‘are you sure? Is this what you want?’ Only for you the breathlessly beg, “Please Eddie.” You pulled a condom from your nightstand and handed it to him. It brought him a sense of relief because he hadn’t thought tonight would have been the night, therefore, not being prepared. He quickly opened and slipped on the condom.
Collectively the two of you gasped and moaned as he entered you. You were squeezed around him. Eddie kept letting out the sweetest, “Fuck” s you had ever heard. Once he was deep within, he looked at you again to make sure you were okay. You nodded and he pulled you close as he began pumping himself in and out of you.
Breathless kisses occurred between the symphony of moans. The sensation of him within you was indescribable, it was new, and you wanted it to happen again. For Eddie you were like ecstasy, for someone who had been a virgin, you knew the right way to grind your hips, and it was as if you could read his mind when he wanted you to squeeze around him tighter. He pulled on your hips whispering to you, “I’m close.” Your smile shown in the dark and pulled his face to yours, biting his lower lip gently.
You kept proving to know exactly what Eddie wanted. He gripped your hips as he released himself. You felt his cock throb and twitch deep within you as he let out groans and grunts that made you weak. He gently removed himself from you, both of you letting out a hiss in sadness to be apart from one of the best things you both had just experienced.
Lights still off, dim light peaking through the curtains and the house seemed quiet. You could hear giggles from Suzie and Dustin as you made your way to the bathroom to clean yourself up. You smiled to yourself that it seemed like all parties were enjoying the company of one another. Slipping back into your room with your minimal clothes back on, you found Eddie waiting, he had brought you a glass of water. You took a seat next to him, he handed you the glass, “You need this Princess.” You kissed his cheek and took the glass from his hands, taking a few small sips before giving him back the glass.
Eddie laid the two of you back into bed, you were wrapped in his arms. He kissed your forehead and whispered, “I know I keep telling you, but you have never looked more beautiful to me than right now.” He was admiring your afterglow. You whispered back, “I like hearing it but only from you. Thank you for coming to stay for part of break.” He smirked, “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else but here.” The two of you fell asleep in the other’s arms.
The next morning you and Eddie woke abruptly to the sound of snow plows and shovels. The two of you put on enough clothing to be decent and headed down stairs. Before hitting the bottom of the stairs you heard Dustin and Suzie shuffle to open her bedroom door. Suzie called out, “What’s going on?” “Not sure”, you replied as you and Eddie threw open the front door.
The winter storm not only started last night, but seemed to be in full swing today. The sky was grey, heavy snow gathering on the ground. Plows going each way up and down the streets. Steve was in your driveway shoveling, he was wrapped up like a marshmallow- down feather winter jacket, hat, scarf covering his now and mouth and his hands in gloves. He spotted you and Eddie in your doorway and waved. You called out, “Come inside Harrington!” He shook his head. You called out again, “Fine, then when you’re done. I’ll make you cocoa.” Steve gave you the closest thing to a thumbs up.
You closed the front door as Eddie scoffed, “Wait he gets cocoa?” You laughed, “I was going to make some for everyone, Mr. Jealous.” He pulled you into him, growling in a playful tone, “Oh I’m jealous am I?” You were laughing as Suzie and Dustin descended the stairs. Dustin cleared his throat, “Everything okay?” You turned to face them, “Sounds like we are seeing the beginnings of being snowed in.”
You made your way to the kitchen to start making cocoa, toast, scrambled eggs and some breakfast sausage to feed the four of you, and Steve. Suzie came to help you while the boys went to clean up the bedrooms, they then went to the living room and turned on the TV.
You took the moments of privacy to ask Suzie about last night, “Was it worth having the boys here?” She blushed, “Yes. We stayed up so late.” You smiled back, “I’m so glad.” She bit her lip, “I have a confession. We almost went the whole way.” You had just cracked an egg and froze in place, the egg dropped into the hot pan making a sizzle. You cleared your throat, “Just remember to use protection. Or did you have questions?” Suzie was wide eyed, “Well no. But I wasn’t sure how you’d feel about that.” You scrambled the eggs cooking, “Suzie, I am glad you’re comfortable to talk to me about it. I just want you to be safe.” Suzie nodded, “I will be”, she bit her lip, “I just never had the opportunity for anything like this back ho-.” She stopped herself then cleared her throat, “I was never given an opportunity to be me and do what I wanted like this in Utah.” You leaned over and kissed her forehead, then took the cooked eggs off the stove.
“Ladies, you might want to come in here”, Eddie called to you from the living room. You and Suzie walked in to see Channel 5 is on, you walk up to where Eddie is sitting and find yourself at his feet. The weather man had just come on the screen, “Well folks, today is going to be one of three heavy storm days. You heard me right. The next 3 days will be continuous heavy snow. We will then see some snow on and off from now until the new year, but these next three days you need to be prepared. If you don’t already have materials, I’d suggest going to the stores now. After about 2pm today, it is not going to be safe for anyone to be on the roads other than the plows.”
The front door swung open, Steve stomped remaining snow off his boots to see all 4 of you in shock and could read the distress on your face. He spoke up, “Y/N, what's wrong? What did I miss?”
Chapter 13: Have the Harringtons Called You Yet?
Summary:
Storm of the decade?! A house full of HellFire for 3 DAYS?! Don't even get me started on Christmas Eve & Christmas day- Oh wait, those are in this chapter too! Wonder what Eddie got you, hmmm. What did your parents get you and Suzie?
Chapter Text
After Steve had a chance to warm up and everyone was able to discuss the weather man’s announcement of the storm for the next few days, a plan came to the surface. You gave the okay for everyone to come over to finish the HellFire campaign still but that everyone would have to bring their own snacks to contribute to food in case everyone truly would be snowed in. Eddie went to call all of HellFire, Suzie & Dustin started moving the furniture in the den where HellFire would crash later, and you stayed back with Steve.
“Storm of the decade”, Steve began, “I’m a little worried about you Y/N, with everyone here with you, that’s a lot of responsibility.” You nodded, “I know, but there’s plenty of room between the guest bedroom, the living room and den for people to camp out.” Steve took another sip of the cocoa you had made, “What happens when you all get snowed in?” You flicked your eyes to him, “About that. Know how you said you’d be willing to shovel?” Steve’s face twisted but he nodded. You smiled, “Well what would be the harm in you going home and grabbing a bag and camping out here too? I mean I have enough pillows, blankets, and towels for everyone. So why not come stay?”
Eddie came back in as you asked Steve to stay. He spoke up, “Harrington is finally stepping up and coming over to help watch his kids?” You smiled, “He hasn’t decided yet. But since he already agreed to shovel all the time, he might as well come stay.” Eddie walked over and kissed your forehead. Steve laughed, “I didn’t say ‘yes’ yet.” Eddie interrupted, “You’re going to be here anyway. Just come stay.” Eddie thought he’d be more jealous or upset at the idea of Steve the King of Hawkins Harrington being in your home for the night, or rather nights. But he wasn’t. Eddie could see you didn’t want Steve that way, you wanted Eddie.
Steve finally gave in and agreed, he put his winter wear back on and out into the soon to be tundra he went. You were about to start cleaning up the kitchen, when the phone rang. Suzie took the plate from your hands so you could answer the phone. You mouthed, “Thank You”, to her. Picking up the phone, you answered, “Hello?”
It was your mom, “Y/N! Sweetheart! Are you alright?” You could sense stress in her voice before you replied, “Yes mom. All present and accounted for. Are you and dad alright?” “Yes, but your Aunt and Uncle have been less than reasonable since we arrived late last night”, she continued, “They are fighting with your dad, I took a moment to step away and check on you and Suzie since the storm is getting worse. What are they saying there?” You cleared your throat, “Well they just said this afternoon will be the start of 3 days of bad snow.” Your mom hummed on the other end, “Have the Harringtons called you yet?” “No”, you began, “Well maybe? Steve was just here shoveling an-”
Your dad’s voice came through the phone, “We told the Harringtons to send Steve to stay with you and Suzie. They agreed it’s in the best interest since he is planning to shovel anyway. Did you see him yet?” You could hear your mom in the background scolding him, “She was just saying Steve was there shoveling before you swiped the phone.” Your dad’s voice softened, “Sorry kiddo. We are just worried. Steve is going to stay there with you and Suzie…” He trailed for a moment then continued, “And whoever else you have trusted to stay in our household.” Your hands went clammy, your mind started racing with the thought of “shit, shit, shit, shit”, but your dad broke you from spiraling.
He cleared his throat, “Listen Y/N, your aunt and uncle may not see it, but I see how careful you have been with Suzie. I know you both want to have your boyfriends around. I don’t want to know what happens while we are gone, but I trust you. I trust you’ll look out for Suzie.” You smiled, “I will.” “Good deal”, he replied, “We love you and Suzie.”
Your mom’s voice came through again, “Okay, well we have to go. Trying to keep peace with your aunt and uncle while we stay. But we love you both so much. We will call again on Christmas.” “I love you too”, you were quick to say before saying your goodbyes.
You hung up the phone, letting out a frustrated breath. You were grateful for your parent’s understanding, them checking in on you, and even from afar- they made arrangements for you and Suzie to have help for the storm. And yet, your aunt and uncle couldn’t be bothered to accept Suzie anymore? Her morals didn’t change, the person she was is still there, she was just in an environment where she could grow. Where she could be Suzie.
The sounds of dishes clanging against one another snapped you from the funk. You took one more deep breath before rejoining the group. There would be a lot to get done before HellFire came back over and camped out at your house.
A few hours later everyone had arrived with backpacks, snacks, and whatever else they might need for the next few days. You took the opportunity to set up the den with blankets, pillows and sleeping bags, making everything feel warm to counteract how cold and terrible the outside was going to be soon enough. The gasps, cheers and ‘come on’s you could hear from the dining room were filling the halls like music.
Steve descended the stairs, you had let him have the spare bedroom upstairs since he was going to be doing quite a bit of shoveling, you felt it evened out. Steve had just put his stuff down and returned to meet you to help where he could. He smirked as you met him at the base of the stairs, “So this is what the kids get up to now?” You smiled, “Yeah, they all seem to enjoy Dungeons and Dragons.” He shrugged, “Not for me, but they all seem happy.” “Yeah”, you said, looking into the dining room to see Eddie smiling at you, “They are happy.”
Steve nudged you, “Hey, earth to Y/N. You can fall in love with Eddie anytime later. What else needs to get done around here before the storm?” You shook your head, “Umm, if you could grab some firewood from the garage and bring it to the living room? I’d like a low fire burning all day to keep the house just a little warmer. Balance out the thermostat so it isn’t going all the work, you know?” Steve nodded and set off towards the garage.
You made your way to the kitchen to prepare food for everyone, creating a wide variety of snacks to satisfy the hunger of everyone. Steve shouted from the garage, “Shit Y/N! How many trees did your dad kill?” You could hear all of HellFire laughing from the dining room at Steve’s outburst and realizing how much firewood your dad had prepared before they left.
Hours had come and gone, stomachs were full, HellFire was tired and the winter storm was in full swing. Everyone started to disperse to their respective sleeping quarters for the evening. Steve loaded another log on the fire and closed the safety fence in front of the fireplace to allow heat to come in but to avoid embers from coming into the living room. The winds were howling, you were a bit worried of what was to come. But closing your bedroom door, and Eddie being there with his arms open to keep you warm and safe put you at ease.
Luckily the next few days of the storm were much of the same. HellFire played their campaign, you kept bellies full, Steve shoveled as best he could and became known as the fire master due to his log loading skills with the fireplace. It became a comfortable environment for everyone.
The day the storm was cleared up was Christmas Eve. Everyone made their way back to their homes, the sidewalk and driveway was shoveled, and both Dustin and Eddie took the opportunity to go to their homes tonight to be with their families. They’d be back tomorrow on Christmas for you and Suzie. Steve mentioned he’d be back later tonight since the little amount of snow that was falling was not sticking the way it had with the storm.
Now midafternoon, the house was now quiet as you and Suzie were alone, the brightness and warmth hadn’t left but the chaos and sound of everyone from the last four days had. You and Suzie cleaned up the den and dining room for where bodies had been a majority of the time. Suzie started to wash some of the blankets and you began to vacuum, within a few hours the two of you had cleaned and refreshed the house.
After freshening up yourselves with showers and fresh pairs of pajamas for the now early evening, you and suzie looked at one another. As if reading the other’s mind, you both shouted, “We need Christmas cookies!” You both let out a giggle and went down to the kitchen. It was tradition that you had premade dough for Christmas cookies. They were always a store bought kind that would have pre made patterns and decorations in the center. These were easy enough to toss onto a baking sheet and the oven did the rest.
Suzie got them into the oven while you went upstairs to your parent’s room. In their walk-in closet were yours and Suzie’s Christmas gifts. You loaded them into an empty laundry basket and brought them down to the living room. With the fire burning low, the two of you decided tonight was as good as any to open gifts from your parents.
You plopped down on the floor, you could feel the heat from the fireplace dancing on your skin. You pulled a gift from the basket and handed it to Suzie, “Go for it Brain.” Tears slowly filled Suzie’s eyes, she had been able to push the feelings away with the house being full of people and her own boyfriend these last few days. But now sitting here, alone with you, without her own family, it broke her heart. You pulled her to you, she hid her face but her quiet sobs and feeling of tears on your shirt broke your heart. You whispered, “They don’t deserve to get to know you.” You could hear Suzie sniffling as you continued, “You have become such an incredible person Suze. It’s been an honor to see you flourish.” Suzie picked her head up and looked at you with a soft smile. You cooed, “Now let’s open some gifts.”
The two of you were opening gifts, containing content of new clothes, some new albums and even a cat sweater Suzie wanted. You both spent the night watching Christmas movies and eating the Christmas cookies you had made. For it being the two of you, it sure felt like a pretty great Christmas Eve.
Christmas morning, you awoke to the phone ringing. With a groggy tone you answered, “Hello?” It was Eddie, “Hey Princess, Merry Christmas.” You let out a tired giggle, “Merry Christmas.” Eddie continued, “I’m picking up Dustin in a few hours. We were going to come back over tonight. Do Christmas with our girlfriends, swap gifts, stay the night. Is that still okay?” You could say “YES” quick enough or loud enough. You both giggled and said your goodbyes.
You got yourself up, showered and into some clean but comfy clothes. Coming down the stairs you could hear Suzie on the phone, “Yeah- Y/N made Christmas Eve the best ever. And thank you for my cat sweater.” You picked up that it must be your parents on the other end. As you rounded the corner Suzie spotted you, “Oh. Hold on. Here she is.” Suzie handed the phone to you, you kissed her forehead and put the phone to your ear, “Hello?” “Y/N”, your mom’s voice rang out, “Merry Christmas!” “Merry Christmas Mom”, you matched her excitement, “Thank you for our gifts.” Your mom’s voice saddened, “I’m glad you like them. I’m sorry we aren’t there. But we might be breaking through to your aunt and uncle. They didn’t seem so bad last night when we brought up you and Suzie.” You replied, “Well that’s good right? But what are you trying to achieve at this point mom?”
Your mom breathed, “Well at this point”, she paused to make sure no one was around, “We want them to say they don’t want Suzie so we can just have them sign adoption papers and give Suzie to us legally.” “WHAT”, you exclaimed, “When did this become a thing?” “It’s been a ‘thing’ Y/N”, your mom admitted, “We talked to Suzie about it before we left. We just didn’t want you to stress about this one way or the other.” You could feel a knot in your stomach, you wanted Suzie to feel like she belonged. Now realizing Suzie didn’t know if she’d have a change in parents, you could understand where the emotions came from last night.
“Y/N”, your mom called out, “Are you still there?” “Yes Mom”, you replied quickly, “I’m here.” She hummed through the phone, “Eden wants to talk to you. We love you and will call again soon” Before you could send your love back, Eden’s voice was on the other line, “Hey Y/N.” “Hey”, you let out breathlessly, you didn’t want to indicate anything to Suzie that her actual sister was on the phone. Eden sighed, “I know this is now hostile between our homes, but I want you to know I don’t hold anything against you or Suzie. In fact, I’m glad she got out. From what your parents said, sounds like she’s doing pretty great under your wing. Is she alright? Don’t bullshit me.” “She’s as well as she can be for being disowned”, you replied, “but she has an amazing friend group. I bet she’d like to speak to you.” Eden got quiet, “I don’t think I can stomach that Y/N. You know what the dynamic was here and now it’s more volatile. I- I- Thank you for taking care of her in ways I was unable to.” You let out a sigh, “I get it. Merry Christmas.” Eden was quick to slip in something else before you could say goodbye, “Merry Christmas Y/N. And for what it’s worth, I hope your parents adopt Suzie. She’s better off. Goodbye.” The line disconnected and you stood for a moment listening to the dial tone before hanging up the phone yourself.
Into the late afternoon, Eddie and Dustin had arrived, they had overnight bags and a couple gifts in hand each. Once everyone was settled, the four of you gathered on the living room floor. The fire made crackling sounds as it started to burn up another log. Suzie had brought in some of the remaining Christmas cookies and you had made hot chocolate for everyone.
Dustin got Suzie a walkman cassette player with a mixtape he made for her already inside, and a Never Ending Story poster. They had seen it on their first movie date. Suzie had given Dustin a t- shirt with a mathematical equation on it. You didn’t understand it, but he opened it and gasped in excitement. You had gifted Eddie with all black guitar strings for his ‘baby’, he had been talking about re-stringing her for months, and you thought they’d fit the look Corroded Coffin always had.
Eddie got you a leather jacket, it was nearly identical to his but without the denim vest over it. You were over the moon about it, hugging the jacket then quickly slipping it on. You felt a small box in one of the pockets. Confusion washing over your face as you removed the small box and opened it. Inside was a guitar pick that matched Eddie’s infamous guitar, the pick had been turned into a necklace. You quickly put it on and looked at your fluffy haired boyfriend, a smile spreading across his face over how good you looked wearing it.
You asked, “How does it look?” Eddie couldn’t reply quick enough, “Like it was made for you.” This made you laugh since it was indeed, made for you. You leaned over to plant a ‘thank you’ kiss on his cheek. He pulled you in for a real kiss, wrapping his arms around you. When he broke from the kiss, he whispered, “Merry Christmas Baby.”
The night carried on until with laughter, snacks and close proximity to your boyfriends until everyone agreed they were tired. You all said your goodnights, and watched Suzie and Dustin make their way upstairs before you began nightly duties of locking up and dimming the lights. Eddie was always in awe of how you put others first, you had just opened your home this week to HellFire, inviting him and Dustin to stay, and making sure your own home was safe for others. He could see behind it all that you were tired, you carried so much.
As you put one foot onto the stairs, Eddie grabbed your hand to stop you, “Hey.” You stepped off the stairs and met him with a smile, “Hi.” Eddie looked up the stairs, then back to you, “Want to tell me what’s going on?” You shifted your eyebrow, “With?” Eddie sighed, “Y/N, you’re carrying so much. I just want to make sure you’re okay.” He brushed a piece of hair behind your ear and you felt tears prick your eyes.
Eddie pulled you into him and held you while you silently sobbed. Even in this moment, you refused to let others see you break. Eddie moved the two of you to the couch, where you could be alone and voices wouldn’t echo up the stairs. You wiped your tears and told Eddie about Christmas Eve and how Suzie didn’t know if she would be adopted by your family or stay disowned.
He did everything he could to comfort you, the way you had for so many others in these times of uncertainty. He kissed your forehead and whispered, “That isn’t your burden to carry. Let others around you carry the weight of this situation.” You blinked at him. Not one person had ever told you to not carry the burden. Sure your parents would tell you not to worry, but they had massive expectations of you to watch over Suzie. It regularly felt like a contradiction. But this moment, in the dim lighting in the house, Eddie saw you. Truly saw you, and told you it wasn’t on you.
Slowly the two of you made your way to your room, slipping into the sheets. You don’t recall when you fell asleep, but all that mattered was that it was in Eddie’s arms.
Notes:
My loves, we are coming to the end of this series. Next week will be the final chapter. It has been an honor to share this story with you all. If you have not already read my other Eddie Munson piece, "Seeing You in Color", I highly recommend.
Chapter 14: What a Way to End
Summary:
The final part to our lovely story has arrived. This part will begin sad, but I promise it leads to New Years Eve! So let's say goodbye to 1985 and hello to a new year of new opportunities.
Chapter Text
The days from Christmas to New Years Eve felt like a blur. It had been a lot of movies, dancing and late nights for you, Suzie, Dustin & Eddie. The boys went home the morning of New Years Eve with the promise of returning later tonight to help ring in the new year. You and Suzie cleaned up what you could in the house, refreshing it to start the new year later.
You had just slipped on a clean shirt after your shower when the phone rang, “Hello?” “Hi sweetheart”, your mom’s voice hummed through the phone, “We wanted to wish you a Happy New Year.” You could sense the melancholy in her voice, but felt it best not to push as you replied, “Happy New Years. Is everyone safe there from the storm?” You and your mom politely chatted about the weather and how they’d head home the day after tomorrow.
“Is Suzie available to talk?” “Sure”, you replied, “Let me call for her.” You put the receiver down and popped your head out of your room, “Hey Brain. Phone for you.” “Thank you”, She was quick to come into your room and start chatting with your mom. The conversation seemed light, but you motioned to Suzie you’d go downstairs to leave her some privacy.
You made yourself a toaster waffle and hot cocoa, making yourself comfortable in the living room and flipping through a magazine you just got in the mail. You sat there for what felt like hours, having finished breakfast and your magazine quite a while ago. The house was quiet, and you wanted to avoid eavesdropping.
“Y/N”, Suzie called down to you, “can you come here?” “On my way”, you called back. Quickly depositing your dishes into the sink, and leaving your magazine on the counter, you made your way back to your room. Suzie didn’t look happy or sad, she held her poked face strong with the receiver in her hand, extending it out to you. You put the phone to your ear and Suzie exited your room, in a pace and way that you had no idea what you were about to hear on the other end of the phone.
“Hello?” “Y/N”, it was Eden, “Thank you.” Confusion escaped your lips, “For what?” “For being what Suzie has needed for a long time”, she replied, “Your mom wants to talk to you.” “Wait! Eden wh-” “Sweetheart”, your mom’s voice broke your sentence, Eden was no longer on the other end. Your mom continued, “Your aunt and uncle have decided they will not change their minds about Suzie.” You went silent as you waited for the next sentence.
“We need a favor”, your mom continued, “The banks are open until noon today. I need you to take Suzie to the Hawkins First National Bank. We’ve already faxed some paperwork and it should be waiting. Suzie will need to sign it, get it notarized there and then they will send it back.” “Yes mom, we will go now”, you stated. “And Y/N”, your mom caught you, “Thank you. For being you. We love you.” You said it back and disconnected.
Quickly grabbing your purse and keys, you turned to see Suzie was ready to leave. The two of you got in your car in silence. In fact the entire ride was silent. Although you had a good idea why Suzie needed to sign documents and why this was of urgency, it wasn’t your place to call it out. Parking at the bank, you turned off the car and when to take out your keys. Before you could open your door, Suzie leaned over and hugged you. Somehow she was still keeping her poker face.
The two of you made your way into the bank. Sure enough, there was a banker who had recognized you and called you and Suzie over. You chose to hang back and sit in the lobby while Suzie completed what she needed to. The minutes felt like hours but Suzie finally emerged. You stood from your seat and asked, “Ready to go?” Suzie squished you with a hug and looked up at you. Her poker face had vanished, you could now see this storm of sadness and happiness in her face. Her voice broke, “Yeah. Can we go get milkshakes?” You couldn’t say ‘yes’ to that quick enough.
At the small burger and shake diner, you and Suzie had just ordered. Suzie explained that her parents had in fact released their parental rights, signing them over to your parents. The documents Suzie had to sign were papers from a judge and her own letter stating that she had been in excellent care, held high grades and felt safe with you and your parents in Hawkins. She also explained that the phone call took so long because Eden had wanted to talk to her. Your heart was hurting for Suzie, knowing she was no longer welcome by her own parents. The more Suzie spoke about being freed from the expectations of her parents and now having the freedom to be, you saw light within Suzie you hadn’t seen before. She had a glow about her, as if this were a lease on life for her. You smiled as she spoke about being hopeful and looking forward to your next adventure together and especially to starting a new year with you in Hawkins.
The two of you finished your meals, and headed for home. Home. That word felt different now. It was no longer just your home, but now it was Suzie’s home. Even the weather seemed different. There was still snow on the ground, but the day was warmer and brighter than it had been. Walking into the house even felt different, the sunlight coming in through the windows. The way the rays were angled and you could see small dust particles in the air dance through the light. There was a smell you hadn’t recalled, but it was familiar and comfortable. It felt like a comfortable afternoon haze, where it’s the perfect condition to nap. Everything around you felt homey and soft, which you hadn’t felt in a long time.
Suzie broke you from the haze, “Are you okay?” “Hmm? Yeah. I’m good”, you replied, “Are you okay?” Suzie thought for a minute, “Yeah. I think I’m better than okay. Just very tired.” You wrapped your arm around her as the two of you walked in unison up the stairs, “Maybe it’s best we both rest before tonight?” Suzie nodded, “I think that’s a great idea.”
The afternoon sun was getting ready to set as you and Suzie awoke from your naps. You had just put on a hoodie when the phone rang. “Hello”, you answered. “Hey Princess”, it was Eddie, “So Harrington is throwing a last minute New Years Eve bash. You and Slayer down for that? And then we will all crash at your place.” “Hell yeah”, you accidentally shouted. Eddie laughed, “Great. Henderson and I will be there in an hour.” You disconnected and rushed to tell Suzie. Both of you agreed that getting out of the house and being surrounded by friends would be a great way to ring in the new year.
This was about to be another fresh start for Suzie, and you wanted to make the most of it. She wore a silver metallic dress, and you wore a gold one. Both paired with leather jackets, black tights and some black chucks. You both teased out your hair a bit and sealed it with Farrah Fawcett hair spray. Steve swore by it, which meant it should hold through the entire night. You both heard Eddie’s van rumble and come to a stop, quickly grabbing your bags and throwing the door open to head out.
Dustin and Eddie swapped a look of confusion at one another. Sure both you and Suzie looked amazing, but both of you seemed happy? Which they didn’t mind, but it wasn’t what they expected. Dustin cleared his throat, “Everything okay?” Suzie laughed, “Yep- never been better.” She whipped her head towards you and Eddie, “Are we going? Or are you just going to stare at my sister all night?” You giggled and kissed Eddie’s cheek as he put the van into motion, “As you command Slayer.”
Steve’s house had people oozing from every entrance. Although it was New Year’s Eve, it was rather nice out this evening- low 40’s which meant the snow would slowly melt. It also meant people has this false understanding of how cold it was out still. You watched girls walk in with dresses, but no jackets or tights. Boys walking around in just t-shirts. Seeing it sent a shiver down your own spine. Dustin and Suzie headed in pretty quickly to meet up with the rest of the group.
Eddie had asked you to hang back for a moment, he wanted a minute alone with you. You had a look of worry in your eyes, “Is something wrong?” Eddie smirked, “I was actually about to ask you the same. Y/N, I know you. You put on a brave face for everyone around you. But this is the first time since Thanksgiving that I can see you're actually happy.” You bit your lip and smiled, “Well, something did happen today.” Eddie’s eyes got wide, waiting with anticipation. You cooed, “You have to keep a secret.” Eddie shook his head to confirm he wouldn’t tell a soul. You leaned in, “Suzie is now my sister- by law.”
Eddie’s brow knit, “I mean, we all thought she was yours anyway an- wait did you just say by LAW?” He clearly caught what you had actually meant, “Whoa Y/N, that’s heavy.” You shrugged, “It’s really not. It’s shitty her parents didn’t want her, but my parents do. All papers were signed this morning. But don’t say anything okay? It’s her news to tell.” Eddie cupped your cheek and leaned into you, “Well for the record, I think she has the most incredible sister in the world.” You closed the gap and kissed him before making your way into the house.
The music vibrated the entire house, familiar faces passing you and Eddie as you made your way to the kitchen. You spotted Steve perched up on a counter with a drink in hand, his eyes met you and Steve loudly shouted, “Y/N, Munson!” Although it was meant to be both your names, the way he said it quickly made it sound like your whole name. You looked at Eddie who leaned into your ear, “I liked the sound of that.” You blushed and playfully pushed your boyfriend.
“Hey Steve”, you began, “keeping an eye on your children?” Steve let out a “pffffftttt” sound, “They’re all here. I’m not their babysitter tonight.” Steve wasn’t drunk by any means, but you could understand what he meant. If they were in his house, he felt they were safe. The three of you talked about how the weather was surprisingly warm before Steve got dragged away by Robin so Steve could pay for the pizzas that had just arrived.
You filled yourself a cup of party punch, and grabbed a beer for Eddie. You ‘cheers’d your drinks and took a swig of your beverage. “So”, Eddie leans into you, “What should we do?” You bit your lip, “I think the dancefloor is calling my name, Dungeon Master.” You pulled his hand and dragged him to the living room. As much as he wanted to roll his eyes, he couldn’t help but smile. He was so glad to see you happy again- truly happy. Eddie even made an effort and danced with you instead of awkwardly swaying near you. After a few songs, Eddie needed a breather, but you kept dancing. Robin and Nancy weren’t about to let you go anywhere since they hardly saw you all break.
Eddie watched you from the kitchen, keeping an eye on you, you were hypnotic to him. Dustin popped up next to him, startling Eddie who shrieked, “Son of a bi- Henderson!” Dustin laughed, “Ha. Sorry Eds. Can we talk for a second?” Eddie clutched his chest as if he had just had a heart attack, “What is it?” Dustin’s voice got low, “Do you know what happened with Y/N and Suzie? They seem happy? I mean, they should be, but genuinely happy? I feel crazy for saying it b-” “Yeah, well Suzie is now Y/N’s sister”, Eddie chimed in, “by law. Guess they all signed papers today an-” Eddie quickly covered his mouth. In the moment of being terrified, he absolutely forgot that you told him it was a secret. Dustin’s eyes widened, “Eddie- repeat that.” “Nope. Nuh uh. No way Henderson”, Eddie made a motion of him zipping his lips. Dustin scoffed, “Eddie. How come you know and I don’t?” Eddie let out a heavy sigh, “I wasn’t supposed to say anything. Y/N told me, but said it’s Suzie’s to tell.”
“What’s mine to tell?” Suzie’s voice broke both the boys’ not so intimate discussion and they let out a shared scream. Quite a few people turned around momentarily to see what happened, then went back to their own conversations. Suzie crossed her arms, “Well?” “Y/N may have mentioned to me that you are now her sister. Legally. By law”, Eddie admitted, “I’m so sorry Slayer. I was planning to keep it to myself. Y/N even said it wasn’t hers to tell, but I had been so worried about you and her lately, but you both seemed happy getting into the van-” Suzie held up her hand to stop Eddie’s rambling.
“Well, it’s true”, Suzie began, “We got a call this morning that my no longer parents had signed me over. Y/N took me to the bank to sign my own forms, notarize a letter and fax it to a judge in Utah. I’m still a Bingham, just a Hawkin’s Bingham now.” Dustin blinked, “Are you okay that Y/N said something?” Suzie laughed, “Well yeah- I’m actually glad she told Eddie and indirectly you.” She slipped into Dustin’s arms, “I’m here to stay.” The two shared a small intimate kiss, Eddie took this opportunity to sneak back towards the dancefloor to find you.
You happened to run right into his chest, “Oooof. Sorry.” Eddie wrapped his arms around you, “I thought you said it wouldn’t happen again.” You smirked, “Guess I’m bad at this. I like running into you.” He closed the gap, giving you a sweet kiss. Eddie bit his lip as he pulled away. You knit your brows, “What’s wrong?” “Well”, Eddie let out a sigh, “I accidently told Dustin about Suzie legally being your sister now.” Eddie Muson, the leader of HellFire, front man for Corroded Coffin, was suddenly shy. You brushed a piece of hair behind his ear, “Is that what the shrieking in the kitchen was from?” He gave you a small smile, “Yeah, part of it.” You smirked, “Was Suzie upset that I told you?” Eddie shook his fluffy hair to indicate ‘no’, “She was glad. I guess it made telling Dustin easier?” You pulled Eddie to you, “Well then, I guess there’s nothing to worry about.”
“Eddie! Y/N! Let’s go”, you both whipped your head around to see that the two of you were being called by Max and Lucas to compete in beer pong. “After you Princess”, you said so only you could hear. You smiled and grabbed his hand, leading him to where you had been called. Seemed like everyone was where the beer pong table was. You and Eddie could feel the pressure, and once again Eddie carried the two of you through that round and the next before ‘throwing’ a few so the two of you could step back and watch others play.
“Everyone! We got 10 minutes til the New Year”, Steve shouted, “Refresh drinks and figure out who you’re kissing.” You took the opportunity to refill your cup, Eddie grabbed another beer. You bumped into Suzie, “Hey Suze. Are we okay? Eddie told me he blabbed and I’m sorry. It wasn’t my news to tell.” Suzie hugged you by surprise, causing you to let out an “oh”. “Y/N”, Suzie started, “You have been more of a sister to me than I had. You looked out for me, encouraged me, supported me. I’m glad you wanted to tell Eddie you gained a sister. There’s no one else I would have wanted to be a sister to.” Your eyes pricked with tears, you quickly fanned yourself to avoid your makeup running, “Suze. I’m so glad you feel that way. Now let's find our boyfriends before the New Year is here.”
The two of you found Dustin and Eddie nearby, quickly wrapping arms around one another. “Alright everyone, here we go”, Steve shouted over everyone, “Less than a minute!” A hush fell over the room as people listened intently to Steve counting down. Eddie took the opportunity to elbow Dustin quick, “Hey Henderson. Here’s to a year of Double Trouble.” You and Suzie both laughed.
Steve’s voice was joined by everyone in the room, “3…2…1! Happy New Year!” Confetti and ribbon went everywhere, but it didn’t matter. Eddie had cupped your cheek and pulled you in for a new year kiss. You both took your time and were kissing longer than most might have. Eddie breathlessly broke from kissing you, “It’s my year. I can feel it. ‘86 baby!”
