Chapter 1: The most evil creature

Chapter Text

In Hell, the Devil and his demons were able to take whatever form was needed to torture the damned. On Earth though, Mazikeen of the Lilim was stuck in the shape of this hell hot woman. At first that frustrated her, this is why Lucifer had not said anything. It was not a lie, not really. She had never asked. Lucifer saw no reason to tell his demon that he could still shape-shift. He barely ever did it anyway. But this time it was a matter of life and death. Quite literally so because if he could not understand how the Detective was making him vulnerable, he might ended up being killed.

This is why, the Devil himself was sitting at a windowsill of the Detective’s apartment at dusk in the shape of the most evil creature one could find here on Earth, a cat. Of course being the Devil, the cat was black from head to pawns. His eyes were red, not quite blazing with hellfire but still enough for a sinner would not have come any where near him. He could not see much from where he was sitting but he had a plan and his plan just happened to walk inside the room. Lucifer cleared his throat and mewled. As expected, the Detective’s offspring ran to him as soon as she heard him. Cats, evil creatures indeed.

“Oh a kitty! Awesome!” said the child as she opened the window. Lucifer was about to walk in when he was lifted off the ground and pressed to the urchin’s chest. She closed the window behind her and carried the cat with her to the couch. She sat and settled Lucifer on her lap. His dignity took a hard blow when the child started rubbing his back. She actually pst, pst him! He tried to flee but the urchin gripped him harder with one hand while still caressing him with the other. In any other circumstance he would have been delighted to be at the receiving end of such a treatment but definitely not as a cat and on a child’s lap.

He endured this torture for a few more minutes before seriously thinking of clawing his way out. Of course it was the exact moment the Detective chose to come in.

“Mom! Look, look what I found!”

“What are you doing, Monkey? Is that a cat? Where does it come from?”

“Look! She’s got funny eyes.”

Talk about adding insult to injury! How could the child thing he was female? Lucifer growled, looking very much offended even as a cat. His eyes widened as a hand grabbed his tail and lifted it, exposing him to the urchin. “Oh no, he’s a boy.” Lucifer wiggled to get his tail back and managed the best scowl a cat as ever made. The Detective sat beside her daughter laughing softly. Now she was making fun of him as well! Great!

“Easy, Monkey. You don’t know him and he looks like a grumpy one.”

Were the Deckers secretly allying against him or were they just naturally that good at humiliating him? Cat or not, Lucifer was not about to let himself be insulted and say nothing. He turned and glared at the Detective. She erupted in laughter which only served at wounding Lucifer further. “Mom, don’t you think he looks a bit like Lucifer?” Trying to play it cool, Lucifer’s ears were the only part of him that turned toward the child. “Actually I think you’re right, Monkey.” As Lucifer thought he could not be more surprise, the Detective scratched his jaw. On instinct, Lucifer lifted his head to give her more access.

“Oh! That he likes!” noted the child. Lucifer would have liked to protest but the Detective moved her fingers to his neck and was watching him which such a fond in her eyes that he just forgot. “You do like it, hum? Little Lucifer cat.” The urchin’s grip on his back lessened, Lucifer took it as an opportunity to get away from her, but knowing that she would not let him flee, he moved from her lap to the Detective’s and tentatively settled there. He was half worried that the child would take him back, and half worried that the Detective would push him away. Neither of them did.

After some time, the urchin went to bed. She asked her mother to stay with the cat and the Detective didn’t fought it. She even started digging her finger in his fur. Her touch felt good, better than many of his sexual partners’ if he was honest being with himself. And she was just innocently rubbing his back. “Well, well who’s a purring little devil after all.” The Detective was right. He was indeed purring quite loudly. He hadn’t even noticed he was doing it. Under her touch, all his muscles were now completely limp. Her voice, soft and warm, was doing things to him, easing his mind. He was starting to drift off, his worries about his vulnerability long forgotten. By the sound of it, the Detective was on her way to sleep as well. He was so never going to tell Maze about all that.

“I wish my Lucifer would be more like you.” she whispered. Her Lucifer? He liked the sound of that. And before he could wonder what that thought meant, he was asleep.

Chapter 2: The best hiding place

Notes:

This chapter takes place right at the end of "The Weaponizer" (S2E5) for those who wouldn't remember ...
[SPOILER][SPOILER][SPOILER] [SPOILER FOR SEASON 2] [SPOILER][SPOILER][SPOILER]
it's the episode where Lucifer kills Uriel

So of course a little more angst on this one but it's Chloe's POV so nothing is actually mentionned.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Chloe was tired. Despite what she told Lucifer, she was still recovering from her car accident and so close after that she faced an other life threatening situation when she had to talk Kimo Van Zandt down. She felt drained of all energy. And having Lucifer to be so worried about her was emotionally exhausting. So when she finally got home alone, Trixie staying with her dad, Chloe dreamt of nothing but a quick shower and a long night of sleep. Nothing could interfere with her plan.

Usually it would be exactly in times like this that Lucifer would appear out of nowhere and require her undivided attention. And more often than not she would secretly be happy to indulge him. She doubted it would happen tonight though. Lucifer has looked … preoccupied when they parted. And one thing Chloe was well too aware of was that if Lucifer had a personal matter going on, the rest of the world would stop existing. Chloe couldn’t decide if she was relieved or disappointed. And as she entered her shower she decided that maybe she didn’t wanted to know.

As the water ran down her body to wash the filth of the day, Chloe’s mind drifted off. She should worry about her impending house-share with Maze or her new life as a divorcee but everything that she could think about was … well … him. Despite being his usual nonsense, Lucifer had looked genuinely concerned for her well-being today. He had this capacity of making his attention, when directed to you, quite … overwhelming. Chloe had no idea how he managed to be like that. Most of the time he was a self-centered man barely acknowledging anything but himself but on some rare, and all the more precious, moments he could look at you as if you were his entire world. Chloe sighted.

Suddenly as she reentered her bedroom, Chloe froze. There was a noise. A sound that wasn’t there when she went to the bathroom. Something she could not quite place. She circled the room to find where it came from and was surprised when it seemed to be coming from her bed itself. She carefully lifted the bed-covers and found the source of the sound. Maybe she was wrong after all to assume that Lucifer wouldn’t come. Well, it wasn’t the Lucifer but a Lucifer nonetheless.

“Hey Little Boy, what are you doing here?”

The black cat was curled into a ball so small he seemed to be willing to disappear. Over the last few months Chloe and Trixie got used to having this cat visiting them at least once a week. He had big weirdly red eyes and the most expressive behavior Chloe had ever seen on an animal. On his first visit, Trixie had found him a resemblance to Lucifer and Chloe had to say that she understood why. Since then her daughter called the cat “Lucifer” and since the said cat seemed to like his name, Chloe called him that too.

Usually Lucifer, much like is human counterpart, was arrogant, well-groomed and a real drama queen. Chloe was not much of a pet-person but somehow Catifer (the alternate name she called him in her mind when a sentence with “Lucifer” would sound too weird) had wormed his way into her heart. Considering the time each Lucifer spent at her house it was quite a miracle that they had never met. Chloe really didn’t want to explain to Lucifer why she named “her” cat after him. But tonight, as she looked at the little ball of blackness Chloe couldn’t help but to notice how different Lucifer looked tonight.

He looked somewhat disheveled and shivering. When Chloe carefully put her hand on him he flinched away before curling once again into a smaller ball. Slowly she ran her hand on his body, searching for any wound that would explain his behavior but founded nothing. Chloe was not surprised. Lucifer didn’t looked physically wounded, he looked … sad, lost, hurt. Chloe had the feeling that if he was human she would say that he was on the verge of mental breakdown. Could a cat be emotionally wounded? If any cat could though, it would be Lucifer.

And the noise she heard was his purring. He had never purred so loud. Chloe laid down on her bed, so close to him she was nearly touching.

“I read that cats can purr to ease pain. Are you trying to ease pain, Lucifer?”

A year ago Chloe would have laughed at someone talking to a cat but there was something about Lucifer. She was once again proven right when Lucifer crawled closer to her, as close as he could physically get. Understanding, Chloe curled around him, shielding him from the world. Lucifer purred twice as loud when Chloe settled her hand in his fur, rubbing small circles in his back and belly. This small gesture was smoothing her as much as it seemed to smooth Lucifer.

It felt good. Being able to make a difference. To protect. The human Lucifer was a surprisingly great partner but he sometime gave you the impression that he was out of reach. Catifer was here, just under her hand, looking like he could crumbled if she breathed too hard. Chloe carefully covered them with a blanket. She fell asleep before she realized, never stopping her caresses on Lucifer.

Notes:

Once again thanks for reading this chapter ! I hope you liked it. As you see I'm not following each visit of Catifer but I'll show one for almost each season, to see how it's going between them. Next one will be just before Lucifer takes off to Vegas (at the end of "A good day to die" S2E13).
Please leave a little review to tell me what you think of it !

Chapter 3: The last goodbye

Notes:

This chapter takes place at the end of "A good day to die" (S2E14) but before Chloe goes to the Lux and before Lucifer goes to Vegas.

POV Lucifer

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Lucifer had taken his decision. He was not changing his mind. It was for the best, for her best. Still he could not just leave without saying goodbye. Some would argue that technically he already had, earlier in the hospital room. There was so many things he had wanted to say back there but he did not had the right to say them, not after what he learned. And all those unsaid things weighted his heart. This is why he was now walking toward the Detective’s house as Lucicat. He made a habit of showing up at her place in the black cat appearance which he referred to as “Lucicat”. The Detective and her offspring seemed quite fond of him despite his red eyes, a shape-shifting characteristic he could not get rid of.

All the furniture at the penthouse had been covered. His corvet was parked a few blocks away. This was his final stop before leaving for good. As usual he jumped on the windowsill. The Detective was alone, slouched on her couch, looking tired and … defeated? Lucifer made his presence known with some scratching on the window glass. When she looked up and saw him, the Detective seemed equally happy and sad to see him. But, of course, she wasted no time to let him in. She was wearing a thick jumper so Lucifer made a quick decision and instead of just entering the house, he jumped once more, only this time directly on Chloe. She flinched away, surprised, but Lucifer had already clawed his way up to her shoulders and settled there.

She protested half-heartily. Even his cat’s ears could tell how much it was false. Lucifer loved this position. What a shame he only discovered it now. From where he stood, his nose was almost buried in the Detective’s hair. Her intoxicating smell was everywhere. Before he realized it, he was rubbing his cheek on her temple, once again purring like his life depended on it. It was something he learned about his Lucicat behavior, he was simply and completely incapable not to purr when the Detective was around. Not that he had tried very hard. It came to him naturally.

She was walking them to the couch when she chuckled. Lucifer loved that sound, even more so when he was causing it, so he doubled his efforts. His tail went around her head, its tip tickling her nose. That made she laughed out loud as she sat a little abruptly. Lucifer stumbled but caught himself, laying heavily on the back of the Detective’s head. She turned to him and they stayed there for a long moment, cheek to cheek. The only sound in the room was Lucifer’s purring.

“I’m glad you’re here, you know. I almost died today. I got poisoned. Dan told me Lucifer saved me. He doesn’t really know how he did it though. When I woke up later he was there, by my side. And it felt so nice, so … right to have him just here. But I was so tired I went back to sleep. I thought … maybe I’m just stupid or naive … I thought he’d still be there the next time I’ll wake up. Because I actually thought we were going somewhere, you know. With the beach and the kiss … God, I’m so stupid! I guess I hoped I was different to him. Because even if he is always so … him … I want him in my life, Lucifer, I … I think I need him in my life …”

Lucifer’s heart arched so much in his little chest that he wondered if cats could get a heart attack. It only confirmed what he thought. She had no control over things. She had no choice. That’s why he needed to get away. He rubbed away the tears that were running down her cheeks. He slithered inside her jumper and coiled against her stomach. He so desperately wanted to tell her he wanted that too, he … he needed that to. He wanted her to understand what he could not say, what, for her own sake, he was not authorized to wish for.

Maybe he didn’t needed to go. Maybe he could stay here, as Lucicat. Surely that was not what his Father had in mind and the Detective would regain her freedom. He could also keep an eye on her in case other danger than himself came anywhere near. Sadly that would be beyond him. He knew it already. Staying so close and yet so far. He was the Devil after all. He was none to repress his desires, especially some as strong as this one. Lucifer had no choice but to leave. But not right now. He could not leave her right now, hurt and crying.

Chloe laid down on her couch. Lucifer crawled his way up to rest face to face with her. At some point she buried her nose in his fur and mumbled “You smell like whiskey and cigarette. Just like him.” Lucifer purred twice harder trying to ease the pain he heard in her voice as she mentioned him. She was upset with everything that just happened. She would get over this. She would get over him. The Devil had rarely met a woman as strong as Chloe Decker. She would be fine, eventually. That’s what he repeated to himself over and over and over again as he drove to Las Vegas. He was sure she would be fine. The true question was, would he?

Notes:

That chapter was the half of the fic. I hope you still like it. The next one will be setting in season 3, when Chloe and Pierce are together. What will Lucicat/Catifer do about it ?

Chapter 4: The furry cockblock

Notes:

The chapter sets on the second half of season 3, when Chloe and Marcus are together. Because I just HAD to make Lucifer a little jealous.

Chloe's POV

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

The furry cockblock

« Are you joining me? »

“Sure. I’ll just finish this.”

Marcus bent over the couch to kiss her gently before going upstairs. Their r elationship was still young but everything moved fast between them, very fast actually. But Marcus always seemed to be where she needed him so, why not after all. It was not like her … whatever with Lucifer was going anywhere. He was even more distant these days. Chloe sighted. Thinking about the way thing were with Lucifer, or were not to be precise, always left her heart arching. She closed her laptop and was surprised to find two glowing red eyes staring at her.

“Hey Lucifer! Long time no see.”

The black cat was sitting on her table. He wasn’t there a minute before, when Marcus had left. Much like the real Lucifer, Catifer was so stealth that sometimes he seemed to just appear out of the blue . His h ea d was slightly tilt ed to the side and he was moving the far end of his tail. With time, Chloe had understand that t his was his equivalent of a greeting smile. She moved her computer away to properly g reet him.

“Where have you been? You missed so many things.”

As usual Lucifer purr ed as soon as she started s cratching his neck. He even moved closer so she had access to his whole body. Which Chloe fully took advantage of.

“Yeah, I missed you too, Luci. And Trixie as well. You should come back this week-end, she’ll be here.”

Lucifer elegantly jumped on the couch and tried to climb on her lap. Reluctantly Chloe pushed him away.

“I am sorry, Lucifer, but I’ve got someone over tonight. I really need to get going, but you can have the couch if you want.”

As she stood up, the cat meowed at her. Chloe froze. Lucifer stared , judged, glared, purred, growled even when utterly offended, but he never ever meowed. The sound only stopped Chloe. She turned to look at him. He had those puppy dog eyes that made him look so much like the Lucifer. How she loved that look on him, even if most of the times she couldn’t fathom what it meant. Marcus suddenly forgotten Chloe sat back down and let Catifer settle on her lap. He started to purr once again, this time very enthusiastically so. He even rolled on his back to offer her his belly.

Chloe laughed. Lucifer never did that. He was playing jealous and she was letting him. She founded it hard not to. When she was with the real Lucifer, Chloe made it her personal pride not to always indulge him because sometime she felt like she was the only person in their world that could. Everyone else seemed entranced by him. She was too. God knew that she was ! But she had made resisting and contradicting him her speciality . With Catifer things were different, easier.

“Someone is needy tonight.”

Usually this was exactly the kin d of comment that would make him rebuff but not now. Lucifer appeared to be the happiest cat that ever was. He wiggled on her thighs. At some point Chloe saw something on his back. She gently moved him to have a better view and, of course, tonight he allowed it. He a lmost helped her t o change his position. She was right. Two thin lines of white fur were underling his shoulder blades. They were not there before. When she tried to touch them, Lucifer suddenly turned around, his loud purr reduced to a barely audible hum.

Of course that reminded her of another one’s reaction. She could hear it, as clear as if Lucifer had said it, as clear as if he was in the room. “Don’t, p lease.” And she could not help but to answer the same low-voice d “Okay” she had that night with him . When it became clear that she would not go anywhere near his shoulder blades a gain , Lucifer laid down on her, putting his head high on her right thigh, his purring renewed.

When Marcus went down, half an hour later, he found Chloe lying on the couch, asleep. One of her hand was resting on the middle of her chest, her thumb doing constant up and down movements like she was caressing her upper abdomen. She had a content smile playing on her lips. What Marcus did not see though was the black feline silhouette glaring at him in the dark.

Notes:

As always I really hope you liked that chapter. For the next one we'll be switching tables, it will set when Lucifer dates Eve. Though it will not be a jealous Decker but rather an angsty one. I'm already sorry for that.
Don't forget to tell me what you thought of it, good or bad, as long as it helps me to make an better story next time I'll take it !

As english is not my native language, feel free to signal me any mistakes I could have made and I'll try to correct them.

Chapter 5: The worst nightmare

Notes:

This chapter takes place in the middle of season 4. Lucifer is still with Eve. It's total angst and hurt/comfort so be warned.

Lucifer's POV

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Lucifer had everything he ever desired. He had a girlfriend who knew who he was, who he really was, and who accepted him. She loved parties, sex and drugs, most of the time all mixed together. She liked, as much as he did, to invite one, or several, someone into their bed. He was the happiest he had ever been, wasn’t he? There was just one tiny thing he could not explain. Why was he waking up as Lucicat with the urge to go to the Detective’s house so strong that he was half way out of bed before he realized what he was doing?

It had first happened when the Detective was away. Back then he had found his way into her house, pitiful and lonely, to enjoy the fading smells of the Decker girls. Since he was with Eve, it happened once a while. Every time he quickly changed back and dismissed his need to leave the penthouse. He never told Eve about his ability to shape-shift and he knew he never would, despite all the lewd possibilities such a capacity offered. The mere idea that she could see him in his Lucicat form made him strangely uneasy. His little black cat appearance belonged to the Detective and her offspring, even if Lucifer didn’t really knew what that meant.

His nightly shape-shifting were becoming more frequent those days. It was the sixth day in a row he woke up all furred. Was it an other one of his subconscious angelic thing? If it was so, Lucifer did not understand why, or maybe he did not wanted to … she had rejected him after all. Lucifer sighted almost ready to go back to sleep. It was still very much early in the morning. One second he was moving away from Eve for she didn’t feel him change, the next he was frowning as much as his cat face allowed him. He could not change back.

Lucifer jumped out of bed and tried again with no more success. He went to the bathroom but all he could do was to stare at a black cat’s red eyes. The cat looking as perplexed as he felt. Was he really stuck like that? His first thought was to go to Linda’s but 1) he never mentioned Lucicat to her and 2) if Amenadiel was with her he would understand straight away what was happening and Lucifer would never hear the end of it. So Lucifer did the second thing that came to his mind and ran off. The Lux was a safe place but Lucifer knew the Prohibition’s tunnels far better than what he had told Chloe. One would say he knew them like the back of his … well … paw. He was out of the building in less time than his human counterpart would have needed if he had called the elevator and went to through the door.

When he finally climbed the side of the Detective’s house he was pleased to find her bedroom’s window slightly ajar. It was most probably in order to let some of the cool air of the night in but Lucifer liked to imagined it was for him. It was exactly the space he needed to slither inside. As soon as he entered, something eased in him. The Detective was in her bed, breathing rather hard for someone that should be sleeping soundly. Lucifer jumped on the bed. As soon as he landed on her covers, the Detective gasped loudly. She raised in a sitting position, a silent scream twisting her mouth. She was covered in sweat and her eyes scanned the room, terrified, before landing on him. Lucifer stood frozen, all too worried that he might have caused that.

“Hey hi, don’t worry. It’s not you. Just a nightmare. An other one …”

She moved her hand in his direction. Lucifer, relieved, rushed under her palm and, as always, started purring as soon as her fingers touched him. Slowly her breathing came out more even. Lucifer wondered what could shake so hard a woman as strong as Chloe Decker. As if she could read his mind, she started to explain.

“Those days it’s always the same nightmare. Recently I did something … terrible. Well I didn’t exactly did it but the mere fact that I thought about it … In my nightmare though, I don’t only think about it. I do it … I poison him, Lucifer, … I poison him and Kinley throws him back down there.”

Lucifer felt a chill run down his spine, not at her words but at her voice. She sounded broken. Without realizing it, she tugged him closer to her, gripping into him as an anchor as she went on.

“In my nightmare, that’s only at that moment I realize how wrong I am. At the exact moment I see him disappear … And I live with that … for the rest of my life. With that and … without him. Each dream fells like it lasts for years and years. Eventually I die and go to Hell. Because how could I not after what I did?”

Lucifer wanted to tell her there were no world in which she, Chloe Decker, could go to Hell. But he can’t because cats don’t talk. She bent her head and tried to bring her legs up to her chest. Lucifer invaded her lap to prevent her from going so, to prevent her from closing up to him. He bored his gaze into hers, nearly breaking when he saw how close from tears she was. But her story was not over yet.

“And Lucifer is there. Of course he is. I made sure he was after all. He welcomes me, not even angry. But the worst part of it all is when … is when … when he tells me he understands. That I made the right choice because he is the Devil and his place is in Hell. And he tells me all this bullshits about him being a monster and all, but that’s all it is! Bullshits! And me, when I sent him back, when I betrayed him, I made him believed it was true. And every time I try to explain, every time I try to apologize, Kinley’s voice is coming out of my mouth. I can’t tell him how much I regret. I can-t tell him how much I … I can’t tell him any thing, Lucifer, because he is so close and yet so far …”

The Detective was fully crying now. Lucifer was mortified. She should not cry for him. He was not worth it, not a single one of her tears. He was giving his best purring ever and yet it didn’t look like he was easing any of her pain. She laid back down and crawled under the covers giving Lucifer a better access to her. He first rubbed his face to her cheeks to dry away the tears until she stopped crying. He then consciously licked all the salt out of her face. Finally he settled on her upper abdomen, over her heart, his head under her chin purring her back to sleep.

Notes:

I hope you liked this chapter. It's the last with Lucicat/Catifer in it because the next one will be when Chloe understand it all. I really liked this little buddy though so maybe he'll be back for a one-shot some day. Next chapter will be established Deckerstar from season 5 or 6.
As always leave a little comment to tell me what you thought of it !

As english is not my native language, feel free to signal me any mistakes I could have made and I'll try to correct them.

Chapter 6: The purring thing

Notes:

This chapter takes place somewhere in season 5 or 6 when Deckerstar is established. It is pure fluff.

Chloe's POV

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Lucifer and her were officially a thing. Chloe guessed that for the rest of the world they had been a thing for quite some time now but they had needed their time to realize it too. While some things had changed and some others had stayed the same, they were a few activities that were the same but … different. For example they still had moments to simply enjoy each other’s company. Before they did it as Lucifer stayed by her desk at the precinct, now they did it as they cuddled on her couch, half naked, after having the best sex of their day so far. Same but definitely different. Chloe was sitting at an end of the couch, Lucifer resting his head on her thigh, his eyes closed, a content smile playing on his lips. Chloe’s lids felt heavy too. Her hand naturally came to play with Lucifer’s slightly curled hair.

Suddenly she heard a purring that she would have recognized anywhere. “That’s it”, she thought. That’s the moment Lucifer finally met Lucifer. Strangely they never crossed path before. Chloe hoped her boyfriend got along with her … catfriend? She turned around trying to see the familiar red eyes, strangely there was no black cat in sight. Chloe was not crazy though, she was hearing his purr. And then it struck her.

“Lucifer … are you purring?”

As an answer the purring immediately stopped. Lucifer froze for a few seconds before opening his eyes and turning to her.

“Yes? Though if you’re not into it …” he started with a smirk.

Chloe knew him well enough to notice when he was deflecting a subject with sex talk.

“As an Angel and the King of Hell you must have some strange powers, no? Let’s say … turning into a little black cat?”

“I am indeed a shape-shifter. There is many funny ways we could use this …” Here it went again, the deflecting. If her boyfriend was trying to avoid the subject, Chloe was having none of it. Catifer had meant too much to her over the years for she left the question unanswered.

“Lucifer, are you Lucifer?”

“What a strange question, darling. Of course I am! The one and only.”

“You know what I mean. Come on! Are you Catifer?”

“You call him “Catifer”? I didn’t thought of it. Personally I use “Lucicat” …”

She stared at him, hard.

“Alright, alright. Yes! I am that lovely little black-furred, red-eyed creature that you have been calling by my name. That was quite perceptive of your child I must say.”

“Years Lucifer! It’s been years! Why did you never told me anything?”

“Tell you what exactly? Hey Detective as I am the actual Devil I can turn into a cat and I use this ability to visit you and your child when you’d throw the actual me away. Tell you that I love to just lie with you, to hear all the things you’d never tell me but that you confide to cat-me. And I love it so much when you touch me that I can’t stop myself from purring like a mad man?”

“Since the beginning it was you?” She thought about all the moment she shared with Catifer, all the things she did trust him with. All the hard times they were here for each other. From the very first time all those years back … then something occurred to her. “Wait you were Catifer even when Trixie …”

“Detective if you start enumerating every moment we had when I was a cat, it is gonna be embarrassing, even by my standards.”

She let him be because the more she thought about it, the more she realized he was right. This could be embarrassing. “So you love it when I touch you?”

“I much prefer this angle of discussion.” His eyes were sparkling with something akin to the red gleam she knew so well.

“Did you liked better when I scrapped your back or when I rubbed circles on your belly?” She asked, almost teasing.

Lucifer was still laying on his back so that left Chloe with only one of the two options. She had barely started moving her fingers on his skin that the loud purr started once again. Lucifer looked at her with his “sorry-not-sorry” expression, telling her that he had not intended on doing so. The fact that she could make Lucifer Morningstar, past-womanizer and actual Devil, literally purr was entrancing. She bent over him.

“You want a confession? I always loved that sound.”

As she kissed him, the purring went on twice as loud.
