Chapter Text
[ “Do you like being scared?” ]
[Yes] [No]
It was just an app from a sketchy website. That’s all there was to it. Then again, your computer seemed to be working just fine. No malware or overheating. Apparently, the game known as John Doe + had multiple endings, and you were determined to find out how to get each one.
Sounds easy right? Hours passed before you reached the last ending. You decided to call it a night and stretched back in your gaming chair.
“It’s been nice, John, but I think I’ll head out.”
“No.”
Your hand paused on the Escape key. Did he just respond to you?
Either you were going crazy, or his eyes just filled with panic.
“What?”
‘NO’
A bubble of text appeared on your screen in his writing.
PLEASE STAY.
“…Did you just speak to me?” Black spirals of black and red covered the screen on your computer.
“PLEASE DON’T LEAVE ME.”
You nearly screamed as the same voice echoed through your studio apartment. Looking back, the man known as John Doe pounded his fist on your laptop screen.
“I promise I’ll treat you right! We’ve spent so much time together!”
You scrambled back as your computer flashed the blue screen of death. Basically your laptop’s way of saying: “Shit’s fucked. Give us a second.”
Static hissed as a shadowy form worked its way through the screen. It looked painful, but you weren’t sure if he could actually feel pain. It reminded you more of Samara from The Ring.
He stumbled onto the floor from your desk.
John didn’t seem bad…just lonely. Kinda desperate for attention, but you guessed being stuck in a computer game did that to him.
Maybe he was just installed that way?
Awkward…That’s the word you were looking for.
“I’ve been waiting so long to meet you in person. You’re more attractive than I thought!” John smiled as he stood up. “All I need from you in return is love.” He pulled you closer. “That’s not a lot, right?”
...By a long shot.
But where the hell was he supposed to go? A fucking video game character just sprung out of your pc and now was making himself comfortable in your home.
“We can be together forever. Please?” John held you ever so tenderly, not wanting to harm a hair on your body.
You could’ve sworn there were red eyes beyond his hair for a moment. It could’ve been your own eyes playing tricks. There was something inhuman about the guy, besides him crashing through your screen.
"I-I guess. Just don't try anything funny."
His face lit up. "Yay! You can call me John or Doe. It doesn't matter. I swear you won't regret this decision!"
One thing was for sure, John was here to stay.
And your friend that recommended the game was in deep shit.
