Cody could tell that Obi Wan would have been rolling his eyes at Anakin if he had a bucket he could hide his face in, so Cody did it for him, making visor-contact with Rex as Anakin tried to make excuses as to why he should go check in on Senator Amidala following their after action report.
“I’m sorry you have to deal with this all of the time Rex.” Waxer said over in-bucket comms and Rex huffed a laugh.
“I didn’t sign up for hiding secret relationships.” Rex snarked.
“We didn’t sign up for any of this.” Cody said drily.
Obi Wan eventually dismissed Anakin, and Rex turned to him.
“You know, right sir?” He asked, and Obi Wan laughed outright.
“Anakin has never been subtle. And he has had a crush on Padme since they first met.” Obi Wan said. “The fact that it is not all over the holonet is a testament only to Padme’s security teams, and both the Jedi and the 212th and 501st dedication to ensuring that nothing has gotten out.”
“Holy shit am I glad that the two of you are good at being subtle.” Waxer said later, when they were gathered with other members of Ghost in the rec room that was usually thought of as the Ghost rec room. “If I had to deal with General Skywalker and Senator Amidala all of the time, I don’t think that I would be able to handle it.”
“I am glad we meet your standards Waxer.” Obi Wan said with a smile.
“If I ever start acting like either General Skywalker or Senator Amidala, check me for a TBI.” Cody said, and the group laughed, breaking out into gossip that they had heard from their meeting with 501st. Some of it was about Skywalker and Amidala, but most of it was about the antics of their vode.
Obi Wan leaned in to Cody’s space, a warm line against Cody’s side. He wrapped his arm around Obi Wan’s shoulders and rested his cheek in Obi Wan’s hair.
