In Which They Talk About Karen

Notes:

So when I originally read Devil Whent Down to Hells Kitchen I wrote a joke skit and then I lost the fic.
Anyways you should go read the original fic, I enjoyed it; this is purely for shits and giggles- we all know Matt would never not choose the nuclear option.

"You think.. I have mind control?"

"Suppose there's another reason a New York woman would give a masked stranger the keys to her apartment- a reporter at that!"

For a moment the Devil just stared at Clint incredulously. "Karen Page?" And yeah, he did call her Karen when violating her mind but something else rang a bell.

"The Daily Bugle? Fisk?" Daredevil tilted his head at each Avenger in turn, waiting for someone to get it. "I saved her life– she's been a pretty vocal supporter of what I do."

"So she trusts you." It wasn't a question.
Clint forgot, when weighing the popularity of the Avengers against the Devil, being the protector of the city ment actually saving people.

Personally.

Really if you can control minds what's the point of beating the truth out of someone?
"Yeah–" the horns focused on Clint now, "I thought you looked into me?"

Wow.
Ok fair- but wow.
Clint was good at what he does. A little momentary lapse in judgment when faced with a trigger, but he wasn't the only one looking into the Devil.

On que Tony opened his mouth. "Yeah we don't exactly have the best track record when it comes to head-stuff so forgive our hesitation."

Daredevil ignored the snark. "So does Jessica Jones; you think she'd work with me?"
He scoffed, not giving the heroes a chance to respond. "Besides, mind control kinda nullifies the point of Temptation,” he stated matter-of- factly as the Avengers tensed up all over again.

The maybe-good-guy casually put some distance between him and the group. “-and I think it'd be a bit obvious if I possessed someone."
Just like that the Devil was gone.

In the end, the avengers were not reassured about the devil's abilities.
