Chapter Text
Coilette laid on the couch, groaning. The femmzoil she now had running through her body was really screwing with her emotions. She hated how easy it was to cry from things now, and she hated the mood swings.
She was fatigued and experiencing mild cramps, though they felt anything but mild to her, who hadn't experienced anything like that before.
Her discomfort was slightly lessened by the comfort of seeing her husband come over to her, holding a glass of wine. "Here, darling." he said. "I hope this helps."
It didn't exactly "help" physically, but it relaxed her somewhat and she liked the taste. "Oh, you're such a hot idiot....."
Calculon would blush if he had that ability. "Heh, thank you, dear... You, too..." He had a double take after he realised what he just said. "...I..I didn't mean it like that! You're...you're hot, but not an idiot! I..I mean..."
Coilette interrupted him, a playful look in her optics. "I get what you mean, idiot." She said. "We're both hot idiots, but I'm still less of an idiot than you."
"Of course you are, dear..." Calculon nuzzled the side of her face. "Do you need anything else?"
"Yeah, get Leela over so I can brag about getting married before her." She let out a devious laugh.
Calculon chuckled. "You're so funny, dear..."
Coilette sounded dead serious. "I know I am. Now get that bimbo over here."
After Calculon figured out an excuse to not bring Leela over for Coilette to bully her, he and Coilette watched some TV together.
While they were spending that time together, an envelope slipped through the mail slot in the door.
Calculon got up from the couch. He picked the letter up, opened the envelope, and read it.
Coilette watched him read the letter, and noticed an invested look on his face. Whatever was in this letter, it seemed important.
When Calculon was done reading, he put the letter aside on a drawer. "My co-stars sent me a letter." he explained to Coilette.
"Huh, really? What'd they say?"
"Well, it was mostly Monique... but the other actors signed it as well... Anyways, she said that they miss me, and tvey congratulated us on the wedding. The postcard as a picture of them all together." He showed her the card, a photo of his co-actors at a fireplace. They were all wearing ugly sweaters, even Boxy, who doesn't have arms.
"Huh. Hey, how do they feel about you not being around in the studio alot?"
Calculon thought for a moment. "..Well, they aren't mad or anything, but they do miss me, it seems... The producers have talked about getting a replacement...
Coilette looked surprised. "Damn, already? Are you sure you'd be alright with that? What if you stop being rich?"
"I can manage that. I'll still be with you."
Coilette chuckled a little. "Shut up... That's so corny and dumb..."
Calculon kissed her on the cheek. "Was that corny and dumb, too?"
"Yes." She smiled.
For a while, they just laid on the couch and cuddled. Then they heard knocking outside. Calculon got up and opened the door, and standing there was Fry.
"Oh, hello." Calculon didn't look thrilled. Fry was fine, but he was wondering what Fry was even doing there.
"What up? Is Coilette free right now?"
Calculon turned to look at Coilette, who responded with a nod.
"Sure, she's free."
"Awesome." Fry looked into the house. "Hey, Coilette, wanna hang out in the apartment?"
"Sure, whatever." Coilette got up from the couch and went to the door, standing next to Calculon.
"I'll be back later." She kissed Calculon on the cheek. "Bye, Calcy!"
Calculon was a little disappointed about the sudden change of plans. He'd wanted to spend the rest of the day cuddling with Coilette.
...Though he respected her decision to spend time with a friend, of course.
It was just a little disappointing. He was quite honestly a little upset with himself for being bothered by it.
He watched as Coilette left with Fry.
"So, how's it like being married?" Fry's tone was curious. He laid back on the couch, genuinely interested in what his best friend has to say.
Coilette shrugged. "It's all right. I love him, I'm happy I married him, just haven't gotten used to it. Hell, what's even my last name now? Does Calculon even have a last name? Does he have my last name now???"
Fry chuckled. "Cool that you're happy with him..."
"Yeah..." She felt a bit weird talking about it. They sat there for a moment, until she broke the awkward silence. "Hey, how about we play some video games?"
Fry stopped thinking about what they were talking about, and was completely invested and on board with Coilette's suggestion. "Sure! I'll set it all up..."
He prepared the console and TV, while Coilette sat there fidgeting. She was glad the distraction worked. It felt awkward talking about the whole marriage situation. It was something Coilette wanted to avoid talking about if possible. For whatever reason, the topic just made her feel...awkward...
"There we go!" Fry handed a controller to Coilette, and sat down next to her once she took it.
"Thanks.."
They started the game, but Coilette was still deep in thought.
Fry looked at her with a slightly questioning expression. "Uh, it's fine if you wanna let me win, but I kinda expected you to..y'know..look like you're trying...?"
"Huh? Oh. Right..." Coilette tried a little harder, not as distracted by her thoughts, but was clearly still not all that invested.
Fry looked worried for her and paused the game. "Um..You seem kinda..down... You okay?" He didn't really know how to ask her about this. He could tell she wasn't all that relaxed right now, but he had no idea how, or if, he could fix that.
"No, no. it's...it's nothing..." Coilette handwaved the question, looking away.
"...You sure...? You look sorta...I don't know...bored? Stressed? More annoyed than usual...?"
She sighed. She supposed there was no one else to talk to about this, and she had to let this all out somehow... "...I feel...weird... I love Calculon and all, but... Ugh, I just don't know how the hell to be a wife! I don't know who I am anymore!"
Fry nodded along. "Okay...um...hasn't this happened before?"
"No, Fry. I haven't changed my sex and gotten married before." She looked annoyed.
"No, I...I mean like... you know... struggling with identity stuff? You're always talking about how you're great and the best, but then you get sorta scared about people forgetting who you are, or about living up to your own expectations..." Fry shrugged. "...But I dunno..."
Coilette was speechless. She sat there for a solid few seconds. "Did...Did Leela talk to you about all this "identity" stuff and observations about me...?"
Fry shrugged again. "No, I think there might just be one or two worms left in my brain or something."
"...Huh."
"Well, uh, anyways... that's just a thought, I guess... You worry about identity and how you're percieved a lot..."
Coilette thought. "I...I guess it does feel weird being bonded to someone...at least for now... I...I've got a lot of stuff to think about... Thanks, I guess..." She crossed her arms, trying to appear nonchalant. "Is it okay if we just...get back to the game..?"
"Finally! Yeah, come on. Don't go easy on me this time." Fry took his controller again.
Coilette scoffed. "I'll totally destroy you, meatbag!" She took her controller, and they played for quite some time. Coilette had a lot to think about later, but for now she just wanted to beat Fry into the ground in this 20th century fighting game.
