It was also a well-known fact that none of the dorms could go over their budget. A thaumark more than the limit was a thaumark too much, and even if a student wished to use their own money to contribute to a dorm’s funds, they would not be allowed to do that, to make sure every dorm was on ‘equal’ footing.
But that wasn’t, of course, to say there was no way to make a profit out of things. There were no rules against personal spending on things that weren’t related to the dorms’ showcases. So of course…

Riddle groaned. “I thought you were supposed to help me sense where to go, not go off on your own?”
Immediately, Floyd skidded to a halt, glancing up at Riddle with round eyes. “Ehhh? I thought you weren’t interested in it?”
“I never said I wasn’t!”
“So you’re gonna be the one to guide us?”
“Indeed. Unless you think I’m too incompetent to take the job?”
“Nah. You’re the most competent goldfish I know~”
“Again, not saying very much at all… but very well.” Riddle cleared his throat, summoning his scepter a final time, only this time, he wasn’t going to use it to behead Floyd. Pointing it toward the bright light in the distance, Riddle grabbed Floyd’s shoulder tight with his other hand, lips curling just slightly. “The entrance is that way! Follow my lead, Floyd!”
“Yes, my King~” Floyd said with a grin, before proceeding to move in the exact opposite direction, much to Riddle’s confusion and chagrin.
Riddle really would have to punish him later.
