Chapter Text

Soap drying not long after the three of them finally getting together.

It took them so long to come to terms with all of them being in love and accepting that they could try without having to give up someone, just to lose Soap in that god-forsaken mission.

And Gaz had to pass by his lover's body to help the Cap with the bomb, but not before his eyes landed on the horrendous sight of that bullet hole.

He had to try and disarm that bomb, following the Cap's lead and Soap's instructions, with his eyes filled with tears and his heart physically hurting like it was about to have a heart attack.

When he did it, he could only raise his head and look deep into Simon’s eyes, his lover's eyes, and see deep pain reflected there. The love of their life, gone.

Soap was the one to bring them together, the one to kick-start their relationship, and now he was gone.

And still, they needed to keep it together. Keep each other safe while getting out of that place. The bomb was unarmed, but little did the captain know... both Simon and Kyle wanted it to just explode and take them both to meet with Soap.

They both knew it. As soon as their eyes met, they shared one thought.

"Please take me with him."

Soap was gone, but... What if Ghost couldn't let go of Johnny, he just lost it completely, to the point where he decides he needs to keep Johnny with him all the time.

So he starts wearing Johnny.

Johnny’s skull.

It's Gaz who realizes, and he goes to Price crying so hard John thinks he will pass out.

When he tells him that he was suspicious of it and confronted Ghost about it only to almost get killed for it, Price lowers his head and cries silently.

Gaz is still sobbing in his arms, and they hold each other like they never did.

A few moments later Price pulls him to sit down, pulling him close, they both need the contact, and John confesses he thought that might be the case, but he didn't have the courage to say a single word about it. He feels extremely guilty about their loss. Simon’s loss.

He should have let Soap kill Makarov that day.

So he just watched Simon lose himself all over again, tossing the hard shell plastic mask away and replacing it with Johnny’s skull.

He was afraid that taking that away from Simon would be much worse. The man would go mental, and that was indeed a terrible thing for all around him.

It would kill Simon. Or what was left of him. If there was still something left.

Price also confesses that he, somehow, knows that the second Makarov is taken down, Ghost would go to Johnny, and there was absolutely nothing they could do about it.

He just hoped it would be sooner rather than later. Before Simon decided to sew the skull to his own skin.

Gaz was horrified by the mere thought of it, but deep inside, he could see that happening.

It was terrifying.

Gaz spent many nights awake after terrible nightmares, shaken at the very thought of it.

And Ghost... well... Price was right.

Ghost's face was forever changed.

No but, Soap crying and begging, pleading for more but also saying he can't no more, so overstimulated and Simon /cooing/ at him, while he fucks him mercilessly.

Ghost who is actually really confident about his own body and uses the mask and all just to keep his identity hidden.

Soap who is very surprised by this because he once thought Ghost hated his own body and what it had gone through.

Soap who is the one who is more insecure about his own, so he hits the gym like a maniac to build a better body.

Ghost who thinks he's bonkers for having image issues, because Johnny’s FINE 👌

Ghost who walks around naked like parading all that god sculptured body and not even realizing how much Soap envies him for that confidence.

Soap who shows off to try and convince himself he's good enough, latching on people's attention just to feel better about his image.

Ghost who, when seeing any part of Johnny’s body, drools just thinking about having Soap under him. Who thinks Johnny’s just too fucking perfect and wants to consume him, eat him up, worship that beautiful body until it sings.

Soap who shaves his chest, belly and arms because he thinks it makes him ugly.

Simon who wants to rub his face on that body hair and kiss and bite all over it. Who loves when Johnny doesn't have time to shave it and it grows pass the prickly point into a soft caress, and he can rub his face there and fall asleep on them.

Soap who's confidence in his own body starts to grow a bit when Simon keeps telling him how beautiful and handsome he is, when Simon keeps showing how hungry he is for Soap.

Simon who adores the feeling of Soap's body against him, his taste, his smell.

Johnny who doesn't even realizes when he starts to be more confident about his own body, he just knows he feels good about himself for once.

Simon who smiles softly when Johnny walks around the house naked, not to show off to feel better, but because he's comfortable on his own skin, finally.

Soap finding out, after they got together, that Simon paints his hair blond, so now he's the one doing it.

We're always talking about Ghost being a good dad, being good with children..

But realistically I just think he'd hate children. They're noisy, troublesome, tiring.. they scream, break things, throw fits and take all of you time and money in his head.

He'd be those that change seats when there's a kid being loud nearby and give death stare to the mothers thats can't keep their child contained.

But he'd also be the first one to get up and give his seat for a pregnant person.

Kid's would be fine when they're sleeping.

Or when they're newborn that can't break things AND are sleeping.

I'd bet he made a kid cry by telling it to shut the fuck up when the kid was screaming and the mother just sat there on the phone.

It'd be like, on a doctor's office or something, and the mother just ignored the kid screaming and throwing things. He'd get so pissed he would tell the mother off, and when she ignored he would just grab the kid, sat it down and tell it to shut the fuck up, like he would talk to a soldier.

Of course it would backfire.

And the kid would just scream cry.

He would hate kids with a passion, specially brats.

But also, he'd be very surprised when meeting a calm and polite child. Then I believe he would let the kid sit next to him and be alright with it.

And if it's an smart kid, who asked a polite and good question, he would answer and explain carefully for it to understand. And after a number of questions when he's done with interacting, if the kid just drops the questioning to do something else quietly.. then it's chef's kiss.

He would even pat their hair when getting up. But that's all.

And Soap would be like, oh, I'm so proud. 🤧

Price calling Gaz a good boy after he did something right.

All of sudden he sees himself with Gaz, Soap and even Rudy doing all sorts of stuff and showing it off to him so they get called a good boy by Price.

After some time even Ghost is on the thing.

Of course he indulges his boys.

And that's how the 141 got to be the best.

All of them are good boys.

Bonus part if Ale gets just a tiny bit jealous and calls Rudy a good boy too one day and almost breaks the man. And Rudy starts to be a very good boy to his Colonel.

I love that in fanfics and out we always talk about Soaps hair as "that stupid Mohawk" but in reality we love it to the bottom of our hearts.

And so does Simon.

He's always like "that goddamn hair. Stupid Mohawk. Stupid haircut"... and then proceeds to fall in love with it, running his hands over it, pulling it, smelling it.

We're all just so in love with that stupid Mohawk that only actually works on Johnny.

What if in that soulmate AU thingy the thing that makes you know who is your soulmate is the smell?

They have a smell that only you can feel, a smell you know since birth but cannot describe or smell anywhere else.

Only your person's body will produce it.

Like, what do you think Ghost would smell like?

Death? Rotten flesh? Dirt and blood? Or maybe something complete opposite to those? The only thing that was left untouched by all the death and putrid things he's gone through.

But also, he thinks even his smell for his soulmate was altered and therefore he cannot be found by them. His past took it from him. He just knows it.

And what about Soap?

What would he smells off? Like some spring field? Farm and animals? Pine or cone? Or maybe he's the one with a deep unsettling smell, because he gave up on his life altogether and the army is the only thing that keeps him going? He smiles, but deep down he got broken years ago by his father.

What if your smell changes when you find your soulmate and that's how you know it became love.

Ghost cursing even more when people that should have basic language compression skills and text interpretation still always seem to find a way to not do their job correctly.

He storms into Prices office, laptop in hands and slams it onto the table almost cracking the screen.

"I'm done dealing with this bureaucratic stupid bullshiting arsehole that cannot answer simple questions to save his sorry, unhorny, sad life!"

"Dear god, Simon... what..?"

"That imbecil was supposed to give me a list of names, and only that. Do you know what he sent me?!"

"By your expression, no I don't. "

"He gave me reports of a mission we did half a month ago! The reports I SENT HIM HALF A FUCKING MONTH AGO"

Price calmly took a look at the e-mail and indeed the Major had sent the reports back instead of the list of soldiers for another mission.

"I'm not dealing with this bullshit, again, it's the fucking fifth time!"

And indeed that was the fifth time Simon had tried to ask for the list. Each time he got a different bullshit back.

"Get that cunt to get me the list or you're gonna need a new Major, Price, I swear to god I'll scalp him and feed him to the fish."

Price pulled the laptop close and tapped on his own, luckily Ghost had managed not to slam it.

"We don't have fish, Simon."

"Try me and see if I don't show up with a fucking shark tank to feed him into."

No, but, Soap drawing all over Ghosts back, using the scars as little prompts for new things, silly little doodles and more intricate things until he's covered in back ink.

And Soap just can't with all the books, comics, mangas and action figures the man has at home.

He just keeps buying things for the man, just to see the child glee on his eyes.

Soap getting fed up with Ghost just waking up and getting off the bed and never engaging in a bit o laziness and cuddling in the morning, so he just tie him to the bed and waits.

When Simon tries to get up and can't he drapes himself over him and cuddles anyway.

One hour later Ghost ends up falling back asleep and actually having a good and repairing sleep for a change.

He wakes back up feeling boneless and Soap melts at the lazy smile he sees.

Soap sprinting like a madmen on the treadmill for god knows how long while Ghost stands at the side watching.

All those muscles, all those powerful legs and that stamina that can last for hours.

All that used to ride his dick until exhaustion.

Ghost absent-mindedly petting Soap's head after a job well done and pulling his hand back covered with gun grease.

Disgust plastered over his face.

Soap spending the next hour pouting with his legs and arms crossed on the floor outside while Simon scrubs his hair like his life depended on it. Recruits laughing their butts off when Ghost shoves him under a hose, rinsing the hair only to scrub another half a bottle of shampoo on it again..

All the while complaining that Soap is not allowed near the pot of grease ever again.

It's late night and Soap is sprawled on their bed, as best as he can with his right arm on a fucking cast because he broke it and couldn't sit still with just a brace.

So now he's stuck home in a medical leave while his eardrum heal too, peachy.

The only good thing, if you can call it that, is that Ghost is home too. Big bastard was worse, leg broken, shot on the rib and shoulder and a concussion.

But all in all they're fine. Alive. All that matters.

The worst of it all was the boredom, they're definitely not used to a calm, civilian life, and Soap misses the thrill immensely.

So now he's sitting home with Simon, having a little peak at a peaceful life and he gotta say it's not terrible. Kinda dull but good nonetheless. But maybe that's just because he can't do much.

He lifts his head from his phone, stopping his reading on chemicals when Simon come into their room, frown on his brown.

He sits on the bed, and stare at the Scot.

"Everything ok, Si?"

"Yeah."

And proceeds to stare at Soap.

"You sure?"

"Uh humm"

"Ok..."

They sit there for a while, with Ghost just looking at him while he finishes the research he's reading.

"Ok, out with it. You alright?"

Simon just stares for a little while, frown still in place.

"This is it."

Soap frowns whiles his heart does a flip.

Hammering in his chest.

"What?"

What was it? Them? Their life? What? He can't avoid thinking about Simon being fed up with it all. Even if he knows they love each other very much. They're good together, on and off the field.

"This is it."

"What is, Si? What are you on about?"

"This. This is happiness."

Soap's heart does a back flip in his chest and he just stares right on, browns up, eyes wide.

Slowly a smile spreads in his face as he takes in what Simon just said.

"Happiness? "

"Yeah. This. Us. This is happiness."

"Oh Si.... you big softie."

Simon smiles and scoots over laying his head on Soaps thighs.

"Yeah... this is happiness. I love ye, Si"

"Umm"

And Simon promptly falls asleep. No need for military tricks to sleep, no toss and turning, no nightmares. Just calm and soft puffs of air while he dreams of warm hands and tender kisses.

Now he can say he finally knows what feeling happy means, and it comes in a Scottish kilt and mohawk.
