Chapter Text
CHAPTER ONE
Satoru Gojo pulled at his collar, groaning internally, and tried to pull his focus back to the voice barking at him. He hated these ridiculous meetings. It was all he could do to not snap his fingers and blast them out of existence. Oh how he would love to —
“Satoru are you listening to me?”
Gojo sighed and tilted his head toward the geezer on the right, slipping his hands into his pockets. “To be honest, no. I got kind of bored.”
“Why you —“
“Listen Gojo,” another voice interrupted.
Gojo shifted his gaze to the center of the old men surrounding him and narrowed his eyes onto Gakuganjii.
The elder, Gakuganjii, leaned forward, his beady eyes narrowing at Gojo through the mass of wrinkles on his forehead. “We have to take this seriously. You know better than any of us how powerful Suguru Geto can be. And the fact that he’s leaving a trail of bodies leading this way is enough to tell us that he must be after the boy.”
Gojo groaned. “Not this again...”
“There have been multiple reports and sightings from our allies that place Geto just outside of the city. He could be at our doors this very moment. You know what has to be done!”
Gojo put a hand up to the bridge of his nose and sighed. “I’m not listening to this.”
“You will!” Gakuganjii thundered, “You’ve always been an arrogant, selfish fool, Gojo! But I won’t let you put one boy before our entire school.”
Gojo raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you think that’s a little dramatic, pops? Give us all a little more credit here. I think we can handle some pissed off alumni. And besides, you really want to take one of our strongest students out of the fight? You’d be shooting us in the foot.”
Gakuganjii’s eyes remained fixed on Gojo briefly before the old man let out a creaking sigh and sat back into his seat.
“You have always been a stubborn man, Gojo. But not stupid. You think Geto would have any reason to come here if not for Yuji Itadori?” Gakuganjii shook his head and slowly interlaced his fingers.“You might think you hold the power here, Gojo. But you are not the one in charge here. I decide what’s best for this school and what’s best for our students. And there is a reason for that. If you truly lack the strength to make this decision, I will make it for you.”
Gojo clenched his fist slightly.
“The boy will be executed tonight.” Gakuganjii continued, his voice curt, “We will take no more risks on your behalf.”
Gakuganjii stood, signaling an end to the meeting.
Gojo remained perfectly still, unmoving. When he spoke, his voice was low. “Don’t mistake strength for stupidity, Gakuganjii.”
Gakuganjii narrowed his eyes.
Gojo lifted his chin, his blindfolded face directed towards the elder. “You’re outdated.” Gojo said, shrugging. “It’s simply time for some fresh new minds, don’t you agree? Your time here has long since been over. I’ll deal with Geto. And if you don’t mind, I’ll deal with Yuji myself as well. He’s my student. That was the deal.”
Gakuganjii slammed his fist onto he table before him, causing the elders seated around him to jump at the impact.
“You insubordinate fool! You are putting this entire organization at risk! You have no idea how powerful Geto might have become, or what he is capable of!”
Gojo fought back a yawn and waved his hand. “I’ve heard it all before, grandpa. Okay, I’m done. I’m going to go take a nap. Being around old people is exhausting.”
Without waiting for a response, Gojo headed for the exit, turning his back on the fresh wave of irate shouts and roars erupting behind him.
