Chapter Text

The magical world was one R/n was thankfully introduced to since birth. Both his parents were wizards. Their house was filled with magic. With wonder.

R/n’s father- F/n L/n, worked in the ministry, he was a high ranking official. R/n rarely saw him, only in the evenings. His mother also worked, but she had a tad more free time- she was the one who got him to school and back.

R/n had friends that were magic users- older kids in the neighborhood who were allowed to use magic taught R/n a lot of stupid spells. How to make boogers, how to make little explosions to scare the muggles.

R/n was ecstatic when at 11 he got an acceptance letter to Hogwards. The wizarding school that R/n was obsessed with. He’d heard about it everywhere, his older friends couldn’t get in- they told R/n he needed to be amazing at what he did. That he’d need to be something extraordinary to get in. Or to even be considered.

His parents were happy- they helped him get ready for school. Got him his books, his robe, his wand. It was a wonderful experience. It was something different than his usual life.

But sometimes, he regretted it.

He was different, although he had tried his best to make friends, to fit in. But when it all failed and he had to sit alone at lunch, read alone by himself in the quietest part of the library- he understood that he would be alone.

His parents didn’t know about how he struggled- he never mentioned it. They had their work to worry about, and there was nothing they could do to help anyway.

Only in his 5th year did he find people to hang out with. The Weasley twins. Fred and George. The two fools that R/n had to practically babysit them any time they did anything. But it was fun. It was something new- something he liked. The two boys broke his routine and he didn’t hate it- it felt better to just do something impulsive.

And then, R/n was suddenly babysitting the 4th year ‘golden trio’ which was exhausting to say the least. The chaos R/n could bare with the twins- but three more dumb asses? Maybe he had to take a step back every now and then to evaluate the situation, calm down so he doesn’t yell.

“Harry did what?”

R/n’s loud voice could be heard throughout the halls of the school. Fred and George stood in front of the boy- a bit scared of his expression. A mix of anger and worry.

“Listen. Malfoy is annoying beyond belief- It’s a good thing Harry punched him before either of us could.”

Fred explained, a wide smile on his face as the image of a punched little blonde played over and over in his head. R/n’s fists clenched and un-clenched at his sides. He looked between the boys, his mind running 50 miles a second. Harry? Punching another student?

It was so unlike him..

R/n dropped his head. George and Fred were at his sides immediately.

“Let’s go get him from the medical wing.” Fred spoke as the three started making their way down the long halls.

“Malfoy should be there too.” George snickered, earning a punch to the gut from R/n, and a slight glare from Fred.

R/n dropped his hands down into pockets, fiddling with his wand as they walked.

.

.

.

R/n walked through into the medical wing first. He walked past the empty beds, his eyes focused on where Harry sat, with Hermione and Ron stood by him. He slowed his pace as he noticed Draco Malfoy himself just in the bed over.

“Why would you drag him here?” Harry whined to the twins just as R/n approached him. He took Harry’s hands in his own, examining the bloodied knuckles. The boy had a few bruises, some even had landed on his face. As R/n looked him over, his eyes landed on Draco.

His knuckles were bloody, his face had a huge bruise, which made R/n feel nauseous. He was sitting alone, his hands folded over his chest. His eyes were focused on the floor. R/n wondered where his friends were. The two boys and little snotty girl. They were annoying, each time R/n overheard their conversations- the girl was talking shit or laughing at Draco’s ‘jokes’ which were in reality just snarky comments.

The sound of the conversation came back to him as Harry pulled his hands back to himself, he heard Harry whine as Fred and George laughed.

“R/n- ground him please!” Fred begged. R/n looked at him, feeling disoriented, his eyes twitched between all his friends.

“What?”

“He got into a fight! That’s bound to be a ‘grounded‘!” George laughed, dodging Harry’s slaps.

“Uh.” R/n hummed, looking at the chaos unfolding in front of him. His gaze once again landed on Draco who turned his head away as R/n looked over at him. He’d been looking. Clearly.

“Alright you lot- quit it.” R/n looked back with a sign. The noise died down as Fred told everyone to calm down.

“So?” George asked, slightly out of breath.

“You’re grounded George.” R/n said, walking out with everyone following. R/n let them all walk past only so he could look back at Draco who sat on the bed quietly.

Fred turned to see R/n standing by the door, staring- seemingly out of it.

“R/n? You coming?”

R/n closed the door.

He ran up to the group who were already further away, Fred being the only one who stayed back to wait for him.

“How did you do in potions?” Fred asked as soon as R/n came up to him.

The latter groaned, rolling his eyes.

“Snape was as horrid as usual..”

Fred hummed.

“I did the stupid potion step by step and he came over and was like ‘hmm L/n, that doesn’t seem right..’ with his stupid tone.” R/n mocked Snape as he spoke, recalling what the professor had said.

“And I told him- I’m doing what it says here. And he looked at my book- turns out he fucking told me the wrong page and I did the wrong thing.”

Fred awed R/n, patting his back.

But R/n swatted it away, smiling for the first time since after school learning with Snape. Fred looked at R/n, ‘hurt’ that the boy pushed away his affection.

Fred continued to try to comfort, by his words, the ‘poor little R/n’ which he said in the most whiny tone imaginable.

R/n left the group when they reached a crossroad- He needed to get to the library, the rest were simply headed to their dorms. R/n slipped past the rows of books, walking straight to the quiet corner where barely anyone went.

Only Hermione, but that was almost never these days.

R/n took a seat with his potion book in hand. Snape was a fool but he didn’t admit it so R/n had to retake the test, again. And Snape took 5 points off Ravenclaw for his own mistake. Bur R/n didn’t have the strength to argue with the already flustered and annoyed professor.

So he decided to study the steps, more carefully than he could when he was already making it there on the spot.

He sat down on the low windowsill, hidden behind a curtain. The sun poured onto him.

He read over the instructions, muttering to himself as he read.

Suddenly, the curtain parted, R/n looked up, shocked to see the blonde standing in front of him- his face mirroring R/n’s.

“Uh.” Draco muttered. His eyes darted from R/n, to the book he was holding, then to the unoccupied part of the window sill.

R/n noticed the book he was holding- potions.

“Go ahead.” R/n returned to his book, pulling his legs even closer to himself, giving Draco more space to sit.

R/n simply stared at the open page- waiting for Draco to sit down. Or leave. R/n wasn’t sure of what the boy would do since he was just standing there, staring at R/n- flustered.

In just a moment, Draco carefully sat down, facing R/n, with his back resting on the wall. R/n then started reading again. This time refraining from mumbling.

He noticed Draco looking up at him every now and then, but he didn’t react- he didn’t want to scare the boy away or make him uncomfortable. It was enough that Harry punched him. R/n knew why- Draco had been teasing Hermione again. R/n hated that Draco was raised on such narrow beliefs- but that was his parents fault. Not his.

R/n snapped out of his thoughts, realizing that he had not been reading. He cursed quietly before turning the page.

He saw Draco relax over time. They’d sat there together in silence for almost an hour- R/n would have been worried if Draco was still tense. R/n liked to believe that he was a calming person- everyone he was friends with said so anyway. It had to be even a bit true.

R/n sat up, clearing his throat before he shut his book. He’d sat there re-reading it multiple times just so he didn’t have to get up, to not disturb Draco.

The blonde looked up at him as R/n opened the curtain, peeking into the library. The sun had started setting, coloring the two boys a deep yellow.

“Well, I’m going.” R/n spoke. Draco shifted, he cleared his throat.

“Alright.” He muttered. R/n felt the tension rise as he looked at Draco.

“I’m sorry that Harry punched you. But you know why he did that.” R/n spoke after a long pause. His words seemed to awake the Draco he saw bickering with Harry all the time.

“As if I need an apology. It was barely a punch anyway.” He practically yelled. R/n stared at him, unfazed. Draco clenched his teeth, staring out the window.

“Alright, see you around Draco.” R/n slipped out the curtain.

The Ravenclaw common room was filled- people tutoring each other, throwing around some magical ball. R/n slipped past everyone without being noticed.

He entered his room, slipping into his bed. It was private since he paid for some heavy curtains to be installed around the bed, shielding him from his 2 roommates. They weren’t bad people. R/n actually liked talking to them, but he was a sucker for having his own space, and they didn’t mind at all.

R/n got changed into his so called ‘PJ’s’ which was just a pair of sweatpants and a tank top. He got in bed, getting comfortable.

“R/n?” A voice beyond his curtain walls called. He opened his eyes, sitting up as he pulled the curtain aside, peeking his head outside. Sam waved his hand, asking R/n to come to him. R/n saw the charms book opened on his lap. R/n couldn’t help but groan as he walked over, his body cooling as he passed the open window.

He plopped onto the bed beside Sam.

“So.. you’re better at this than me..” Sam spoke slowly, he had been sat here for the better part of almost 2 hours waiting for R/n to come by.

R/n hummed as he skimmed the page quickly to know what Sam was struggling with.

“Right.”

R/n tried to explain it as simply as he could since it was the easiest way to teach him. Or anyone for that matter.

Sam asked more questions and R/n did his best to answer them all. R/n smiled as Sam explained another problem correctly all by himself.

R/n got back into bed, reminding Sam to shut the window, looking at the stars outside for just a second. Sam groaned about it, liking the cold night air as he slept.

“You’re behind a bloody curtain, how are you not hot all night?” Sam whined, watching R/n crawl into bed through the curtain.

“It’s not that bad.” R/n sat on the edge of the bed, his foot dangling over the bedside.

“You can’t even feel the air, let me leave it open. At least till the morning.” Sam begged. R/n huffed, glancing at the window before crawling into bed.

“Fine.” He called out.

Chapter Text

Draco had noticed the Ravenclaw since the day he started hanging around the ‘golden trio’ and Wesley twins. And back then Draco had noticed how interesting he was, even from far away.

Draco noticed how the boy was absolutely different then them all- and not in the way that Hermione was different. It wasn’t that he was a nerd that was annoyingly smart, it was more so he didn’t pull stupid jokes on teachers like the Wesley twins, or walked around like he owned he place like Harry and Ron. He was calmer. More collected than the rest of them. He didn’t walk around picking fights, he was more into reading a book at dinner. But unlike when Granger did it- when the boy did it, it didn’t seem annoying.

It was quite nice. The Ravenclaw did his own thing, he tagged along with them all, but it wasn’t as if he was simply being dragged from place to place- it actually looked like their stupid jokes and loud whining were amusing to him.

Draco didn’t get it. There was no reason for the Ravenclaw to be around the loud baboons. But he was.

Harry punching Draco was a moment of reflection for the boy- he had gone too far. And of course he didn’t see it that way when he sat in the medical wing and it didn’t seem that way when he angrily sped through the library to find a quiet spot to learn for his upcoming test.

And he didn’t even think about it when he opened the curtain to see the Ravenclaw there- Draco had been too focused on not making a fool of himself in front of the upperclassman.

And surprisingly enough- Draco didn’t see anything wrong for what he said to Granger till the Ravenclaw pointed it out.

But you know why he did that.” His words rang true. Draco did know. Granger was Harry’s friend- his real friend. Draco was surprised he hadn’t been punched earlier.

Draco wouldn’t have cared if someone talked bad about Pansy, because he didn’t care for her outside the fact that he should tolerate her so he isn’t walking alone.

But Harry did. And the Ravenclaw did, in a way. The upperclassman wasn’t angry at Draco for his outburst, more worried for Harry it seemed. Draco had punched back the best he could- but it wasn’t anything like the bruise he now had to walk around with for a while.

The Ravenclaw, R/n, as they had so promptly called him- with his very suiting name, wasn’t angry when Draco showed up while he was reading on the windowsill, looking at him every few minutes. He wasn’t angry when Draco sat on the bed next to Harry’s, looking over at the group.

He just. He was just there. He didn’t mind, he wasn’t bothered by Draco as every other of his friends were, he simply looked at him- no glaring, no scowling.

Draco didn’t get it- Did R/n also not particularly care for Harry? Or Hermione? Or his other friends?

Couldn’t be it.

Draco entered the great hall with his goons on his heels, they sat down and Pansy started up again about some bullshit her friends had overheard. Draco’s gaze wondered around the tables- searching for someone or something he didn’t even know.

And he stopped when he saw R/n, sat between the Wesley twins, by the Grifindoor table.

He was talking to one of them, sat between the chaos of it all. Draco stared at the boy- his shirt sleeves rolled up, hair still messy from sleeping. He looked..

A snap of Pansy’s fingers right in Draco’s face snapped him out of his fantasies.. His weird fantasies.

“Are you even listening?” Pansy asked, her stupid high pitched voice drove Draco up a wall.

“Yes.” Draco huffed. Her voice was like as if a nail was being beaten into his ears. He hated that she raised her voice just to sound ‘more appealing’ which it wasn’t.

Draco ate some food, trying to focus on anything but Pansy. He didn’t care for what she had to say.

He looked back at where R/n sat to see him staring right back. Draco’s stomach turned as he quickly looked away. He cleared his throat, resting his hand over his mouth, glancing at R/n to see him smiling at Draco.

Draco internally screamed, he shifted in his seat, clearing his throat again, looking down at his plate as he continued eating.

Pansy once again asked Draco if he was listening and he simply told her he didn’t care. He uncomfortably sat, trying to eat without feeling R/n’s eyes on him.

.

.

.

Draco’s chest burned, his hands were sweaty, he was all sweaty. His throat felt dry as he made his way back into the library.

It had been almost a week since Draco had seen R/n there, he had been avoiding the place like the plague. He felt.. weird things toward R/n and he didn’t know how to feel about it.

Was it okay to want to kiss him? Was it okay to even want to kiss a boy? Draco had so many questions. He’d seen two girls kiss and two guys kiss. It was common knowledge that gay people existed and Draco didn’t particularly care for them since Blaze was gay and he had his crushes, Draco knew what it entailed. But knowing it and feeling it were two different things.

He didn’t know what he’d even say or do when he did see R/n- or maybe he wouldn’t. He really hoped he wouldn’t.

But there he was. On the windowsill. Draco felt the familiar butterflies he’d felt when R/n had smiled at him at breakfast last week. He’d felt them when he saw R/n walking in the halls. Even seeing Potter had become bearable since it meant that sometimes he’d see R/n as well.

Draco stood still till R/n raised his head, turning it to the side as he looked at Draco.

“You okay?” He asked, his voice raspy. He hadn’t spoken in a while.

Draco shifted a bit, from leg to leg. R/n looked him over, gesturing with his head for Draco to sit. And he did so.

They sat in silence, it being broken by R/n turning a page every now and then. Draco tried to relax but it seemed impossible as R/n was right. there.

R/n wasn’t presses up against the wall, he sat with his back to the glass, so Draco was sitting beside him- which was worse!

“So, escaping someone or..?” R/n asked, Draco looked up at him, seeing his eyes stuck on the pages.

“I guess.” Draco sighed.

Pansy had been trying to be around him so much lately. He’d gotten sick of her. So in a way, he was simply escaping Pansy- he wasn’t here to see R/n. No.

“So am I.” R/n smiled, looking at Draco for just a moment before turning the page and continuing reading.

“Oh?” Draco sounded surprised.

“Fred wants me to help him and George with some prank on Snape, Hermione and the boys are doing something stupid too- I didn’t want to be a part of any of it so I said I needed to study.” R/n sighed, he dropped his head slightly, chuckling.

Draco smiled, amused.

“And you are reading.. Which is basically studying.” He said, peeking into he book.

“Its a romance novel, I wouldn’t count that as studying.” R/n smiled, looking at Draco.

The blonde shrugged, crossing his hands over his chest as he laid back into the window. R/n simply continued reading.

“What is it about?” Draco spoke up after a moment of silence. He just wanted to talk to R/n, even if it was about some stupid book.

R/n hummed.

“Into romance, are we Malfoy?” He smiled.

“I don’t see anything wrong with that.” Draco ‘defended’ himself. But R/n could hear the smile on his face.

“Sure. Uh-” R/n flipped a few pages back. “About some girl with powers and a guy trying to stop her because he’s very stupid and they fall in love and whatever.” R/n shrugged.

He closed the book, leaning back just as Draco was. Draco inhaled sharply as their shoulders touched. R/n moved away- apologizing to Draco.

“No uh- I..” He tried to speak but nothing came out. Nothing in his mind could help him make a full sentence at that moment.

R/n looked at him, eyebrows furrowed slightly. Draco sighed, defeated. R/n took a second before he got closer to Draco.

Draco felt more at peace when R/n spoke up again, talking about the prank on Snape. It was silly, making some explosive thing to make the dungeon ‘more colorful’ since it was so ‘incredibly dull’, as the Wesleys said.

The more R/n talked, mentioning other stupid jokes and speaking of the repercussions, the more calm Draco felt. To the point of falling asleep.

He woke up to R/n blowing on his face, the cold air made Draco uncomfortable, but once he realized he was basically laying in R/n’s lap, he got up. He apologized and ran off, not letting R/n get a word in.

Draco ran till he couldn’t- he felt his whole body heating up at simply the idea of R/n being so close- so close. Shit.

The blonde made his way to his room- he didn’t greet anyone that walked by, he didn’t even look at them. He ran past Harry and Ron who were looking for R/n. He didn’t care at that moment.

He made his way to the only person he knew could help.

“Blaze.”

.

.

.

When making his way toward the library after classes, R/n stopped when he heard someone quietly whispering and laughing behind one of the curtains that hid a stairwell. He cleared his throat and moved on when he heard the noises die down.

Kissing in the stairwells.’ R/n thought to himself.

Some people have no self respect. I swear.’ He scowled.

If he hadn’t heard, he wouldn’t have heard- just shut up if you’re doing something so risky. R/n could have been a professor- then it would be more than an interruption to their fun. Whoever the two were.

R/n made it to the library, he greeted the librarian before he walked past. He felt disappointed when he didn’t see Draco there. But he sat down nevertheless, he started reading- but he couldn’t fully get into it as he was waiting for the blonde to show. But he didn’t.

R/n waited till the last minute. The walk back to his room was weird, he felt like he hadn’t done something- he quite enjoyed having the blonde around him. Draco not being there was weird. His little ‘run’ the last time they’d seen each other confused R/n. Draco- the snarky big mouthed boy running off without a word?

Sure, he wasn’t as mean or sassy with R/n as he was with Harry, but it was there. In the way he spoke to R/n, the way he sarcastically denied something only to backtrack and say what he really meant was entertaining to say the least.

R/n greeted Sam as he walked into their shared room.

Sam asked R/n where he’d been to which R/n simply looked at Sam, where could he have been? Sam nodded, going back to reading whatever it was he had in hand- R/n didn’t care to look. Sam did his thing- R/n did his.

R/n got into bed and simply went to sleep- he was tired. Tired of feeling like he was doing something wrong. He just didn’t want to be alone.

.

.

.

Hermione had given him her headphones. The music was reminiscent of back home where his whole house was a mix of muggle things and magic.

R/n sat in the school’s garden. Looking around the students chatting, running, play- fighting all around him. He sat with his book, one of the first few pages open for him to read, but he didn’t pay it no mind. R/n was more worried when he saw Fred and George running over to him. He closed the book that had sat on his lap, deserted, for about half an hour.

As the twins approached, R/n stopped his music, putting the headphones and player into his pocket as he got up.

“Yes?” He asked as the two ran up to him, panting for air.

“Harry is on his way to beat the shit out of Draco- again.” George spoke first.

A look of worry washed over R/n, his stomach turned as he waited for either of them to speak and tell him where.

“By the womping willow.” Fred got out. R/n pushed past both of them, hearing them groan as they followed you in a quick pace. R/n held his book tightly in his hand, muttering to himself how stupid this all was. Not a moments peace with Harry lately.

And Malfoy again. R/n hadn’t spoken to him in almost 2 weeks now and he’s back at picking fights. He’d talked to R/n about how he didn’t want to continue his fathers hatred, how he tried not to say anything but in the heat of the moment- everything came out.

R/n just hoped it wouldn’t be too bad before he got there.

“What is this even about?” R/n yelled out to the two boys behind him.

“There are rumors about Draco using you to get information so he can fuck over Harry.” George yelled back. R/n let out a exasperated sigh. What even was that rumor? And who started it? R/n was sure no one outside of them two even knew about their previous meet ups in the library. It was such a secluded area.

R/n saw Harry approaching Draco with Hermione and Ron in toe. R/n sped up to catch up to them. Hermione looked relieved to see R/n there. She tried to stop Harry and Ron but they were both set on getting to Draco who was looking at them all with a frown. Pansy and Blaze were with him, waiting just as he was.

Fred and George looked at each other- a bit worried as R/n seemed to not know what to do as the two groups finally met. R/n got to Harry as he approached, yelling at Draco.

“If you want to know something you come talk to me- don’t get R/n into your shit!” Harry yelled, trying to get free of R/n’s grasp. But he held him back tightly.

Draco looked at Harry, seeing the rage in his eyes. His gaze switched to R/n who just looked tired. He tried to tell Harry to calm down but he wasn’t listening, instead he was screaming to be let go.

R/n was thankful as Fred and George stepped in, holding Harry who squirmed, yelling that he was going to beat the shit out of Draco- R/n and the twins were too preoccupied with Harry to notice Ron running full speed at Draco who hadn’t noticed himself. He had been too busy staring at R/n.

Thankfully, Hermione screamed in time for R/n to pull out his wand- stopping Ron in his tracks. Well, more so knock him down so he wouldn’t run into Draco or his friends. Ron fell to the ground. Blaze mumbled something to Draco about leaving these ‘lunatics’ but Draco ignored him, walking toward R/n.

He stood, a few paces away from him since Harry would most definitely break free and punch Draco if he got any closer.

“What is he talking about?” Draco asked, looking at R/n who sighed.

“I don’t know Draco. I just found out about this ‘rumor‘ on the way here.” R/n explained. Turning back to tell Harry to calm down. His tone was still calm, he was holding on by a thread, but he knew that Harry was just trying to protect R/n.

“He’s lying- he probably started it!” Ron yelled, being held back by Hermione. Thankfully he wasn’t fighting tooth and nail to get out of her grasp.

“Probably or definitely?” R/n asked, refraining from rolling his eyes. What is with people and their love for believing everything everyone says.

Ron stuttered something incoherent and R/n turned around, sick of Harry yelling to be let go.

“Harry. I swear to Merlin, if you don’t calm down..” R/n rubbed his forehead, already feeling a headache forming- “I will put your wand up your fucking ass.” R/n threatened, raising his voice slightly.

And of course Harry kept at it, asking R/n why he wasn’t mad- that Draco was clearly using him, talking about how R/n shouldn’t protect him.

“Harry!” R/n yelled. That shut the boy up. Actually, it shut everyone up. R/n looked around quickly, his eyes landing on Draco.

“Are you using me to get information?” R/n asked. Draco looked at R/n- shaking his head.

“Did you start that rumor?” R/n asked again, and again Draco shook his head.

“Great. So this is over-Harry if I hear or see you trying to fight Draco over something you don’t even know is the truth- I will go to Dumbledore personally and ask him to suspend you on the grounds of you being a danger to the students.” R/n leaned down to face Harry who silently listened.

“Am I clear?”

Harry nodded, looking away, still mad.

R/n straightened out his back, smiling as he did.

“Great. Let’s leave them be then.” R/n motioned for Ron and Hermione to come along. The twins let Harry go and he walked away with Ron and Hermione.

“Sorry about the misunderstanding.” R/n turned and apologized to Draco in a hushed tone. The blonde shook his head, trying not to blush as he looked up at R/n who was towering over him slightly.

“It’s Potter. What can you do.” Draco shrugged. R/n smiled a bit, patting Draco’s shoulder as he bid goodbye to Blaze and Pansy before turning around and leaving with the twins by either side.

“I see why you like him.” Pansy spoke and for once, Draco’s head didn’t hurt as she had dropped the high pitched tone once Pansy understood that there was no way he would be into her since Draco was, as it turns out, gay.

.

.

.

“What was that?” R/n asked Harry who stood in front of him silently. Hermione and Ron stood beside Harry, waiting for their turn since they were guilty of almost starting a fight- Hermione was less guilty than the boys, but she didn’t do much to stop it, so she felt guiltier than they both.

“I don’t need to be scared each time I see Fred and George running to me- I don’t want to worry that you’re getting into fights!” R/n expressed his worry. He wasn’t as mad as he was worried for what Harry was becoming.

“Being aggressive and punching your way through every twist and turn will get you thrown out of Hogwards- do you want that?” R/n asked. He felt like Harry’s bigger brother- having to lecture him on basic shit like this was giving him a headache.

“Draco is using you.” Harry continued to fight his way out of the lecture. R/n groaned into his hand.

“Harry, I appreciate you worrying, but I think I can tell what he and I are talking about and trust me- You have barely come up.” R/n felt pissed that just a few simple chats 2 whole weeks ago turned into such a problem.

“Plus. I’m not lecturing you about what you think of Malfoy- I just don’t want you going around and solving your problems by punching others..”

R/n saw Harry’s shoulders drop- he had been so guarded as he stood in front of R/n. The Ravenclaw knew of Harry’s upbringing. More than the rest of their friends- Harry had opened up to R/n about how his ‘family’, if you could call them that, treated him.

And R/n wanted to make sure that if they wouldn’t raise him- R/n would make sure he did. It was a lot for a 15 year old- to raise someone just a year younger. R/n could only thank his parents and his previous years of being alone and simply observing everyone around him exist and make mistakes- R/n learned from watching. Now he would teach Harry by guiding him through everything R/n could stand by to see.

Harry nodded. R/n felt horrid for lecturing him, so he patted Harry on the shoulder. He turned to Ron- the spoiled little crap.

“And what the hell do you have to say for yourself?” R/n asked, more calmly than he’d spoken to Harry- It wasn’t R/n’s job to look after Ron- but the twins wouldn’t. And his parents weren’t there to look over him when he was at school, so he felt partially responsible.

Ron just bowed his head. Apologising.

“Don’t do stupid shit- The fuck are you trying to throw fists for?” R/n asked- receiving more mumbling.

“Straighten up Ron- if you can talk a big talk out there, you have to be able to back yourself up.” R/n scolded the boy.

But Ron didn’t straighten out- he lowered his head lower, if that was even possible. R/n simply gave up- cursing under his breath.

“Alright- go have fun. Don’t get into fights.” R/n rolled his shoulders, feeling how tense they were. Harry and Ron turned to leave before Hermione spoke up-

“What about me?” She asked.

R/n looked at her.

“And what about you?” He asked, confused on what Hermione was asking for.

“I shouldn’t have let them even think of going around punching Draco, or anyone for that matter.” She looked R/n in the eyes as she spoke- her back straight, posture open. She didn’t feel ashamed of the repercussions of her actions- she knew she should have avoided the situation and should have steered it in the right direction.

“Hermione. You aren’t responsible for their actions- they knew what they were doing. I know you probably tried to talk them out of it.” R/n’s gaze softened as Hermione deflated. She looked almost disappointed.

“But if this ever happens again, please come get me before they even get as close to doing something stupid- I’d appreciate that.” R/n smiled.

The three walked off, R/n watched them walk past him. Harry turned around and ran up to R/n- wrapping his hands around R/n swiftly. R/n returned the hug.

Harry smiled as he ran back to catch Ron and Hermione who waited for him by the entrance to the garden.

R/n smiled as he saw them walk over to one of the benches under the trees.

The twins turned a corner, smiling at R/n.

“Well, that was very sweet of you.” Fred bowed. R/n laughed, his hands crossed over his chest.

“Which part exactly? Giving it to Harry or to Ron?” R/n asked, smiling brightly as he watched George pull Fred up, calling him embarrassing.

“You hugging sweet old Harry. May I have a hug too?” Fred asked, outstretching his arms. R/n thought for a second.

“Nah- you haven’t deserved it.”

Fred tried to catch R/n who dodged his attempts with George laughing before joining in the ‘tackle R/n’ game.

Chapter Text

The summer was quickly approaching, and so were the mountains of tests that always seemed to fall in the same week. Why did the professors do this?

R/n had to tutor the twins since they had no idea what they were doing- Each damn test was a fight for R/n since he had to revise whilst basically teaching both boys the whole class in a matter of 2 days, maybe 3 if R/n was lucky enough.

But on the days that R/n wasn’t teaching and learning, he was in the library with Draco.

After the ‘almost fight’ that had happened with Harry, Draco had come to apologize to R/n for causing him to worry.

Draco was nice, most of the time. He had his moments where he was either annoyed or hurt or whatever and it made him cranky- but R/n always brushed it off. Plus, he wasn’t actually ever mean. He just made an extra large amount of snarky and sarcastic comments which he apologized for before the two went their separate ways.

On this day, a Wednesday, a day before a big test in potions- R/n was trying not to be frustrated with the twins as they fooled around out of boredom. R/n was thankful they were at least being quiet.

R/n sat by one of the tables. Reading over a page while Fred and George did Merlin knows what behind him.

Suddenly, they went quiet and R/n raised his head to look at what they’d broken now.

But they hadn’t broken anything- they were staring at Draco who awkwardly looked at R/n.

R/n couldn’t help but smile- Draco had been nicer to the Wesleys and Hermione- sometimes he was nice to Harry, but that was a rare occurrence.

“Hey Draco, did you need anything?” R/n turned his chair to sit facing the boy. Fred and George looked at each other, not so subtly, before sitting back down- silently reading what R/n had told them to read almost 10 minutes ago.

Draco approached R/n with a potions book in hand.

“I came to ask you for some help. But it seems you have your hands full.” Draco looked over at the twins who both looked back. It started to turn into a glare from both sides so R/n cleared his throat.

“Not at all- I can help.” He assured Draco, who nodded. R/n pulled out the chair beside him, telling Draco to sit.

Draco needed some help on reactions which was easy enough for R/n to manage- seeing as he’d done all of them already.

“Right.” R/n pulled out a piece of parchment, using his quill to write down one of the formulas he could use to explain how it works for Draco.

.

.

.

“The main thing is-” R/n stopped himself from talking as he felt a tug on his robes- he looked over at Draco who pointed to one of the reactions.

“I don’t get this one.” He said.

R/n pulled his hand away from Fred’s book, looking down at Draco’s page.

“Oh- it’s similar to this one.” R/n pointed to another that Draco had done perfectly.

“I don’t understand it.” Draco said flatly. Fred looked at George who nodded. They saw what Draco was doing.

“Alright so- you take this and this part which you write down in the equation, like up here.” R/n took the quill he’d given Draco to use, writing down the equation for him. Draco looked over R/n’s hand, nodding along.

“Then you take what’s left and write it right next to the equation..” R/n whispered, more so to himself. Draco swallowed his saliva as he averted his gaze from the page up to look at R/n’s face- he was leaning closer to Draco- practically touching his face with Draco’s.

“And so I see that you’ve understood it- Do this.” R/n pulled away after writing down another equation for Draco to do. Draco took the quill carefully from R/n’s hand.

R/n averted his attention back to Fred.

“So-” He started up again. “- the main thing is the preparation.”

“And following the book doesn’t work all of the time since we use outdated books. But I have written down a cheat sheet you both need to remember. It’s just filled with better ways to prepare your ingredients.” R/n passed the two, somewhat small, pages to both boys who hummed as they scanned over it.

“And with that.. I think we can call it a day.” R/n leaned back in his seat, feeling his back hurting with how much he’d been leading forward for the past hour and a half. The twins nodded, packing up their things as R/n turned to look at how Draco was doing.

“Yup- you did it correctly.” R/n praised Draco with a smile.

“R/n.” Fred called out to his friend.

“We’ll be at the garden, should we wait for you?” He asked.

R/n looked at Draco’s page- seeing the amount that the blonde still needed to do.

“I’ll be alright- I’m going to finish up with Draco and then just go to my room. It’s been a long day.” He told Fred who nodded. R/n waved them goodbye before turning his attention back to Draco. The Slytherin stared at the page, holding his quill hovering over the paper.

“Y’know, I can see that you understand these reactions.” R/n put it flatly, resting his hand on the table. “You could have just said you wanted to hang out with me.”

Draco looked at R/n, his face turned paler than usual before he looked away, his ears turning bright red the more R/n looked at the boy. R/n smiled, seeing Draco heating up, holding a hand over his mouth.

“It’s okay Draco.“ R/n laughed.

“I’m sorry.” He apologized, his voice barely audible. “Merlin, that’s embarrassing.” He muttered to himself.

R/n smiled. “It’s really not. I get it.”

Draco sat silently, not daring to move in hopes that R/n would just dissapear so he didn’t have to feel ashamed.

“Do you want to continue falsely learning or do you want to go to the window and just chill there?” R/n asked, leaning closer to see Draco’s face.

“The windowsill sounds better than this.” Draco muttered, throwing a glare at the paper below his palm. He felt less shame as R/n hummed, gathering his books and notes before standing. Draco did the same.

The two slid away, behind the curtain where they sat, R/n looking out into the garden.

“Why didn’t you just leave with the twins?”

Draco’s question came out of no where. They’d been sitting there for a while before he even spoke up. Draco watched as R/n looked up, thinking for a second before his gaze dropped back down to the students walking around.

“I just wanted a moment of peace.” He whispered. “They’re lovely, but I just wanted to sit down and not have them screaming their heads off right beside me.” R/n smiled as he saw the two gingers run into the garden, already looking like they’d planned something to do.

Draco glanced down and saw them, but his gaze didn’t linger on them for too long

“What if they see us up here?” He asked again.

R/n shrugged.

“They won’t look up. But if they do, and if they even ask. I’ll just tell them.” R/n shrugged. His eyes focused on whatever was happening in the courtyard below.

Draco hummed. He admired that R/n wasn’t one for elaborate lies. He knew what he wanted and needed, and he didn’t seem ashamed from just flat out saying it.

“And why are you here with me?”

Draco was caught off guard by R/n’s question.

“The same reason I’m always here.” Draco deflected.

Any time, and it was rare, that R/n asked why Draco had come to simply sit beside him- Draco hadn’t answered. He wouldn’t tell R/n, but then again, he truly didn’t have a reason.

R/n turned his head, looking at Draco for just a moment before looking back outside.

“You are nice to be around.” Draco confessed- both to R/n and himself. He watched R/n smile brightly, looking at Draco with that look, the one he used that made Draco feel all funny inside.

“So are you Draco.. So are you.” R/n looked off into the garden, catching the twins pull a prank on Cedric- a Hufflepuff half the school had a crush on. A guy R/n considered a friend of sorts, they sat next to each other in charms and often chatted.

R/n let out a short laugh- it was a simple exhale through his nose.

Draco loved it. It came so rarely, but for Draco, it was the most sincere. It was gentle, not a laughing fit that made your stomach hurt once you stopped laughing. Not a forced laugh, not one that you let out when one was uncomfortable.

R/n chuckled, pointing out the mess unfolding down in the garden to Draco. The blonde leaned closer to be able to see.

“Cedric looks like he’s going to kill them.” R/n laughed oh so softly. Draco hummed, shamelessly turning his head to look at R/n’s face. And he noticed. How could he not. Draco was practically in front of him at that point.

“I take it as a compliment by how often you look at me.” R/n joked. Draco smiled a bit as he sat back with his back to the wall. R/n smiled at him again before looking back down to see a professor stepping in.

“Busted.” R/n chuckled to himself.

Draco silently stared.

Chapter Text

The summer was long- but not long enough for R/n. He spent most of it with the Wesleys or with his childhood friends outside. He had planned to simply stay at home and catch up on the missed sleep he’d lost while he was at school- but instead he’d spent many sleepless nights doing stupid things with friends.

He wrote letters to everyone- but he was more careful with his choice of words when writing to Draco- knowing that there was always a chance the letters were being read by his father beforehand. He hoped they weren’t for the sake of Draco’s privacy.

This summer, unlike the others- R/n finally had stories to tell his parents. He had school friends to mention and he couldn’t be more happy for himself. He saw how his parents smiled at each other when he mentioned anyone from school. They were happy for him as well.

R/n, for the first time since his 1st year, was happy to go back to school. He was itching to see Draco in person, the few letters they exchanged weren’t nearly enough since R/n got to see most of his friends over the summer.

“R/n!” A pair of loud voices screamed his name- he turned to see the twins, running at him full speed. He laughed as they practically tackled him, thankfully he held his ground and they didn’t throw him to the ground. R/n’s parents introduced themselves to the boys who were so respectful and polite all the sudden. Miss Wesley was there too, she boasted about how wonderful of a man R/n was growing to be to his own parents. R/n felt great.

Hermione and Harry joined the group forming by the tracks, R/n was overjoyed that his parents now had faces to the names. Well, almost all. R/n kept looking around, trying to find Draco, but it was to no avail.

When they got on the train, R/n put his stuff down before leaving the group to find Draco. They had gotten over their doubts about R/n being friends with Draco- although Harry still believed that Draco was out to get him, but R/n assured him it truly wasn’t the case.

R/n walked down the rows of compartments, glancing in each, looking for the platinum blonde haired boy.

It took him a while, but he found Draco, sitting in a compartment with Pansy and Blaze.

He knocked, seeing Draco look over at him and light up. R/n opened the door, greeting Pansy and Blaze before his eyes landed back on Draco who stood up, excusing himself as the two stepped out. R/n hugged Draco who laughed- returning the tight embrace.

“I missed you so much over the summer!” R/n smiled at the blonde, noticing that he’d grown, almost meeting R/n eye to eye.

Draco smiled, noticing the quizzical look on R/n’s face as he looked Draco up and down.

“Now you’re not as tall- don’t take it to heart, yeah?” Draco teased and R/n couldn’t help but laugh.

“I’m still taller Draco- don’t boast too much now.” R/n teased back.

They chatted for a while whilst standing in the walkway before R/n said he should probably go back to sit with his friends. Draco’s smile faltered a bit but he didn’t say anything against it.

“I should too- Pansy was adamant on telling me the ‘latest gossip’ that was so very important.” Draco air quoted her words. R/n smiled, nodding as Draco turned, sliding open the door that wasn’t too far from the two.

R/n waited till Draco was inside before he turned to go back.

“So, how is he?” Hermione asked R/n as soon as he walked into the compartment. R/n sat down between the twins.

“He’s alright. Grew a good bit too.” R/n huffed. He had preferred the height difference now that he was thinking about it.

“I mean, all of you have.” He acknowledged the ‘golden trio’ too- the summer had done them well for their heights.

“Maybe now you’ll act more grown.” George spoke up. R/n chuckled.

“Look at whose talking.” He deadpanned.

“I’m a changed man.” He said, very seriously. But R/n saw Fred shake his head, as well as Ron who held back a laugh.

“What.” George asked.

.

.

.

R/n was happy to see Sam when he got to his room. The two got ready for the evening dinner, plus hat sorting ceremony for the 1st years, while talking about how their summers had gone.

As the two walked into the great hall, R/n smiled at how fancy it was- Dumbledore had to show off once a year- to give the first years a great first impression.

Sam sat down with R/n, and R/n finally sat with his own house, that way he can cheer with his house when a first year was sorted into it. He looked to the Grifindoor table, waving to his friends before his gaze went to the Slytherins. It took R/n no less than a moment to find Draco- he stuck out which came very handy.

Draco, no surprise there, was already looking at R/n and as the two made eye contact, they smiled. R/n felt himself heat up, for some reason. But he brushed it off to him being happy to see Draco after so long.

The sorting ceremony went smoothly- quite a few new Ravenclaws were added. R/n thought he’d loose his voice at one point. And of course, the food was great, the people around R/n were as nice as always and the food was amazing as always. R/n couldn’t wait for Draco to finish eating- he was hoping the two could walk around- talk a bit more since the short conversation on the train was basically nothing in retrospect.

Draco finished his food, nodding toward the door when he and R/n made eye contact. R/n excused himself, walking down the long table, meeting Draco at the end- they both walked out together, already striking up a conversation.

“So- you’re a 6th year now.” Draco, in a way, congratulated R/n. Their exciting ‘i did this over the summer’ talk had ended a while back, now they were in the garden, on one of the benches under the trees, seemingly all alone.

“Yeah.. it sounds so serious.” R/n smiled. He fumbled with his hands, staring down at them, feeling Draco’s eyes on him.

“I have to take my O.W.L’s and make sure I get good N.E.W.T. classes later on. Which seems like its going to cause a lot of stress.” R/n chuckled, he could already feel how exhausted he’ll be after everything.

“You’ll pull through. You’re smart.” Draco complimented the Ravenclaw. The blonde watched R/n smile, feeling much happier just by seeing R/n smiling. Being the reason for his smile was just an added bonus.

R/n inhaled, turning his head to look at Draco. Neither boy said anything. They just looked at each other, and it was nice. It felt good to see the other, to feel their knees touching slightly. To sit in comfortable silence, knowing that they had the whole year ahead of them before another big break.

Draco watched R/n sit up, he swallowed hard, his smile leaving his face for just a second before he smiled again- as if it had never left. Draco frowned.

“What’s wrong?” He asked. No reason to bullshit around. Plus, being straightforward with R/n felt easy- less stress that way for the both of them.

R/n just hummed- looking at Draco, a bit confused.

“I saw that.” Draco looked down at R/n’s lips, seeing his eyes widen a bit. His smile dropped again.

“I don’t know. Today was just tiring and I want to go to sleep already.” R/n rubbed his eyes, letting out a yawn. Draco huffed a bit.

“You should have said something earlier. Here-” Draco stood. “I’ll walk you to your room.”

R/n looked up at Draco- the dark evening and the fresh air around them made R/n sort of not want to go anymore. But he didn’t mention it, not wanting to tell Draco that he wanted to be able to sleep with his company- since that would be weird. Right?

R/n let out a few more yawns as they walked to his room and Draco reminded that R/n should tell him if he’s tired so he’s not dragging his feet, barely awake next time.

Of course, due to his state, R/n could only hum as talking seemed so tiring at the moment.

Draco led R/n as far as he could go. R/n turned to bid Draco goodnight- he inhaled sharply as the blonde, without a word or warning, hugged R/n tightly. R/n hugged him back without a second thought.

It was different than the one they had in the train. It was more tender, neither of them were trying to strangle the other, not trying to get out the excitement of seeing each other out in the form of a tight hug.

R/n didn’t pull away till Draco did, which wasn’t for a while. R/n almost fell asleep standing. Draco was surprisingly warm- even with his hands always being freezing. And he smelled good. Although that was a weird thing to think about a friend.

Draco pulled back slowly. He’d felt how much R/n had relaxed in his arms and wanted to make sure he hadn’t passed out- thankfully not.

R/n smiled at Draco, his eyes feeling like they were glued together and wouldn’t open up again. Draco ushered R/n to go to bed, which R/n let out a low whine about how he was older and Draco shouldn’t boss him around, which Draco simply agreed to so R/n would go to bed.

“Goodnight Draco.” R/n smiled at the blonde.

“Goodnight R/n.”

.

.

.

Classes started up in an uproar- R/n was deep in homework and revisions before the end of the week. He spent very little time with any of his friends, instead opting to study in his room.

Sam brought him some food since R/n didn’t go to dinner. He opened the curtain to R/n’s bed, seeing him with a book open- flipping the pages as he read with furrowed eyebrows. R/n looked up at Sam.

“Brought you some-” He looked down at the plate. “- mash with chicken.”

Sam passed the plate to R/n who put his book away to the side. Sam sat down on the bed, pulling his legs up to his chest as he got comfortable.

“Are you this stressed because of the O.W.L’s?” Sam asked. They had been reminded of the dreaded exams since the first day they came back to school.

“It’s horrid. Every professor speaks about them- mentions them at least twice in just one lecture- it’s bloody annoying.” Sam continued, he could see R/n nod as he picked around his food.

Every 5th year seemed to be on their toes- each of them reminded of the harsh exams that would determine their whole lives.

Everyone could tell that they’d be buried in assignments, each lesson already had a paper due in a week. Sam saw R/n take it the worst, despite how smart he was- he was the most stressed, trying to prepare before every lesson so he could learn easier. He read forwards in his spare time to be ready and Sam could see him try to figure everything out on his own. It was admirable. The way his eyes read the lines of text- Sam swore he could see the cogs in his head turning- and how his face lit up when he got it. Sam saw it from sitting in his bed, it gave him a sense of peace each time.

And sometimes R/n didn’t understand- he’d be visibly annoyed till the lesson where he got everything answered.

“Snape is back on my ass too- I think he hates me more than he hates Harry.” R/n chuckled. And as much as he joked about it, he felt it to be true. Sam saw how upset he got when Snape racked on him for the smallest mistake. Sometimes, R/n was blamed for something out of his hands- something he hadn’t caused or couldn’t have controlled.

Sam thought he was more annoyed than R/n, because each time it happened, R/n had to be the one to tell Sam that it wasn’t that serious- or that Sam needed to calm down.

“He’s a cunt anyway. His hairdo tells us all there is to him.” Sam huffed. R/n let out a snort.

“Come on, he’s our professor.” R/n shook his head at Sam who hummed.

“I can’t wait for the day you start to despise him. I want to hear how you describe him then.” Sam smiled at R/n, resting his head on his knees.

R/n let out a short hum.

“How’s Julie?” He asked in an amused tone. He laughed as he watched Sam go red. The boy buried his face in his hands.

“R/n!” He groaned. “Shut up!”

“I’m just asking.” R/n shrugged- the smile on his face never leaving his face.

“She’s so fucking pretty I can’t.” Sam whined. “And so nice- so smart as well.”

“Here we go.” R/n rolled his eyes. Just with a mention of her name, Sam could go on for hours about how wonderful she was.

“You started it!” He laughed. R/n shrugged- he did. But then he wouldn’t be talking about Snape and how shit he was to R/n. For no reason.

“Just talk to her, she’s nice and she’ll probably want to be around you anyway.” R/n finished up his food, putting the plate on his nightstand.

“As if it’s that easy.” Sam groaned.

“It actually is, you’re just overthinking it Sammy.” R/n huffed, picking up his book.

“You’re only saying that because you’re already friends with Draco.”

R/n almost chocked- he coughed harshly- looking up at Sam, bewildered.

“What?” He muttered.

Sam smiled, chuckling as he moved so he would sit facing R/n.

“Oh come on- It’s clear as day you both have the hots for each other.”

R/n shook his head, looking back down at his book. “No.” He mumbled. He sounded so serious- to the point where Sam would have believed him if he hadn’t seen them looking at each other so much.

“Mhm.” He hummed. “What do you think about Draco?” He asked, taking the book out of his hands.

“He’s a smart guy, nice to be around.” R/n huffed, looking at Sam, defeated. He would entertain him for a few minutes. He needed the break from studying anyway.

“Yeah, he’s not usually a nice guy to anyone else though.” Sam pointed out. Draco had made quite a name for himself by being mean.

“Well he’s sweet to me. Some people are just not patient enough to actually see how he is.” R/n explained.

“He’s had a bad upbringing. He’s constantly around people from the same vain- he hasn’t had the chance to grow. And Harry doesn’t let him grow.” R/n fumbled with his hands as he spoke.

“Yeah, I guess so.” Sam looked down at R/n’s hands before a thought popped into his head. “And speaking of Harry..” He paused, seeing R/n raise his head.

“Do you see Draco as a little brother? Like Harry?”

“No.” R/n shook his head.

“He’s more like a friend to me. I don’t feel like I have to babysit him.” R/n stared into space. “With Harry it’s like I’m raising him- which is okay.” He shook his head, looking at Sam to see him nod.

“But Draco..” R/n took a deep breath. “He grows on his own- I don’t have to talk him out of any bad decisions because he doesn’t have that many, and any that he does, he doesn’t run by me.”

“And I guess I grow with him- I feel like we’re alike, not like he’s younger or dumber. Draco is… fuck.” R/n cursed. He smiled into his hand, feeling a blush creep up to his face.

Sam let out a groan. “Fucking finally!” He yelled, shaking R/n- excited that the boy finally saw what he saw so clearly. R/n laughed as Sam congratulated him on his crush.

“Merlin.” R/n whispered, looking down, spacing out.

“I don’t want to know what you’re thinking about right now.” Sam said, getting out of bed. He laughed again, seeing R/n staring at him, wide eyed. He threw R/n’s book on the bed before leaving to go to the common room.

.

The fall had turned into the winter, the trees had dropped their leaves and the winter holidays were fast approaching.

R/n made his way into the library- walking straight to the windowsill. He let out a breath he didn’t notice he’d been holding as he laid his eyes on the blonde. Draco looked up at R/n, a smile crept on his face.

“You’re finally here.” Draco put down his book, smiling as R/n sat down beside him with a huff.

“I’ve been so busy lately. I hate it.” R/n groaned. Draco hummed, he turned to look at R/n who stared down at his hands. '

“Are you okay?” Draco asked, shifting to sit closer to R/n.

“Ah..” R/n breathed dismissively “Just thinking about some things.” He muttered, turning his head, coming face to face with Draco.

“Can I help?” Draco whispered. R/n shook his head, closing his eyes as he rested his head, partially on the window behind them, partially on Draco’s shoulder.

They both stayed still, just resting from a full day of lessons. R/n yawned, making Draco open his eyes.

“Should I walk you to your room?”

“I’m okay Draco.” R/n smiled, it felt nice to know that Draco cared that much. “I’m not that tired, just…” R/n stopped himself from continuing his sentence.

“Just?” Draco asked. R/n felt Draco’s heartbeat as he shifted to where R/n was almost laying on him.

“I just feel comfortable here.” R/n muttered- partially hoping that Draco hadn’t heard.

R/n felt himself tense up as Draco didn’t say anything. He heard his heartbeat quicken and R/n cursed at himself for speaking up.

“That’s nice.” He finally spoke. R/n let out a deep breath, smiling to himself.

He let out a hum.

Draco swallowed hard as he wrapped a hand around R/n, feeling so scared that R/n would pull away immediately or run off like he had last year.

But R/n didn’t do any of that, didn’t move his hand away, didn’t say anything at all.

Draco smiled, resting his chin on R/n’s head, closing his eyes as he felt R/n relax against him.

“R/n?” Draco spoke up. Barely whispering. It had been a few minutes of silence, Draco thought the Ravenclaw had fallen asleep on him. He wanted to make sure he was sleeping, or that he wasn’t.

But R/n let out a hum, raising his head to look at Draco, his eyes barely open. Draco smiled down at him, seeing him rub his eyes.

“Let’s take you to bed, hm?” Draco huffed, R/n hummed, sitting up, unwrapping his hand that had snaked around Draco when he’d gotten comfortable.

Draco took R/n’s hand as he led him down the hallways, smiling when he saw R/n walking behind him with his eyes shut.

As they reached the entrance, Draco dropped his hand, waiting for R/n to go before he could leave, knowing that R/n was truly in his room. Draco looked at R/n as he stood, staring at R/n who stared at the bronze door handle, thinking hard.

“Do you.. want to come with?” R/n finally averted his gaze, to look at Draco who was a bit stunned to say the least.

He hummed.

“Sam wouldn’t mind?” Draco asked, R/n often mentioned Sam, his roommate.

“He’s off with Julie, fucking smitten for her.” R/n smiled, rolling his eyes- Sam had finally gotten the guts to talk to her and they’d quickly grown close. R/n was lucky to see him in their room.

“Ah, I see.” Draco hummed. “Then yes, I’d like to come with.”

R/n answered the riddle easily, earning entry to the dorms. Draco looked around the almost empty common room as R/n led him to his room.

“Curtains?” Draco asked as he saw R/n’s bed.

“I like my privacy.” R/n said as he took off his coat, folding it up and leaving it on his desk, motioning for Draco to do the same, only to see him looking at R/n intensely.

R/n cleared his throat, parting the curtain to get into his bed, he laid down, looking at Draco as he took off his coat. He folded it up, putting it down beside R/n’s.

Draco paused before pulling off his vest, leaving him in only his white dress shirt. R/n waited for Draco to lay down beside R/n before he closed his eyes, yawning again.

“I hope we wake up in time for me to go back to my room.” Draco mutters, yawning as well.

“We will, don’t worry.“

Chapter Text

Draco spending the night with R/n became almost an every day thing. Draco had found it difficult to sleep alone after the first time when they had accidentally slept till the next morning.

For the first time in a while, Draco actually slept well. R/n never minded anyway- he said he liked it which Draco loved to hear.

R/n also started dragging Draco around with his friends. And at first, it was a very very annoying part of his day since he had to deal with Harry being a prick- it got to the point where Draco had started being a scumbag again. But R/n ended it all after exploding on Harry and Ron when they’d been purposefully trying to get Draco riled up.

It was a moment that none of them would forget- Fred and George swore to Draco that they hadn’t seen R/n so mad.

But after that, Harry and Ron calmed down and Draco started to enjoy hanging around them- it meant that he got to see R/n more and more. And he absolutely loved it.

He actually, in a way, saw why R/n was friends with them. Not looking at all the negatives Draco saw, they weren’t half bad.

It took a while of snippy comments and many arguments.

And then came Christmas time.

They had decided to spend it all together, exchange the gifts before leaving for the holidays.

Not everyone had a gift for everyone- nothing of significance anyway. Draco got them all little gifts since R/n reminded him to try his best to leave a good impression. But Draco only really cared for R/n’s gift.

A night light- One Draco had heard R/n talk about with Sam when Draco had been over one night.

It was a glowing orb, resembling the moon that could float up to the ceiling. R/n had wanted to put it up in his bed, to stay up in the frame. R/n mentioned how he liked that it had a few smaller lights slowly floating around it- looking like little stars.

He’d seen it in a shop when he’d gone to get a new coat with his mom.

It had been expensive, that’s why R/n hadn’t even brought it up for his parents.

Draco sat, impatient, as he waited for everyone to get on with it- holding the last gift, meant for R/n.

R/n also had one he hadn’t given away- Draco could see his name written on it. His stomach churned in anticipation and fear. Fear that maybe R/n didn’t want it anymore.

Draco stared at R/n who smiled at Harry who was shocked to receive so many gifts. Draco felt happy by seeing R/n so happy.

Miss Wesley had made everyone a jumper- even for Draco. The blonde couldn’t help but tear up when he opened it. R/n had noticed and taken the attention away from him before chatting up Draco, telling him to put it on. He’d even told Draco that he looked good in it.

The two sat further away from the rest, opting to sit by the fire in the Grifindoor common room while the rest sat around the couches not too far away.

“R/n.” Draco whispered, tugging at R/n’s sweater to get his attention.

The Ravenclaw let out a hum, looking at Draco to see him holding the gift out for R/n.

“Thank you.” R/n took it with one hand, while passing his own to Draco.

“This is for you. Merry Christmas Draco.”

R/n smiled at Draco who nodded, a smile mirroring R/n’s.

Draco carefully undid the gift wrapping, not wanting to ruin the nicely wrapped gift. He was met with a brown box which upon opening, revealed a load of muggle snacks, a pair of gloves and on top of it all, an envelope.

Draco

The blonde felt his body heat up- what could be in it? A letter, that much was clear, but what was it about?

As Draco reached to take it, he looked up to see R/n grinning at him- basically glowing. Draco was surprised as R/n pulled him into a tight hug.

“Dear Merlin Draco.” R/n grunted into Draco’s shoulder. The Slytherin could practically feel the smile on R/n’s face. Draco chuckled, wrapping his arms around R/n, not holding him as tightly as R/n was. If Draco didn’t know any better, he would have thought R/n was trying to kill him by strangulation.

“I’m surprised you remembered. It was so long ago..” R/n let go of Draco, still sitting close to the boy.

Draco could only shrug- having no words, and partially not trusting himself to speak at that moment.

He was just glad that R/n was happy. He watched R/n get up to show Sam the gift. Boasting about how nice it will be in his room. Draco smiled. He looked back at R/n’s gift- picking up the envelope.

He carefully opened it, pulling out the folded piece of paper. As he unfolded it- he was surprised of how much was written.

Dear Draco,

Meeting you was the best thing that happened to me in a long while. You’re truly a lovely person and I enjoy spending time with you. Each time we meet up, I’m happy. You’ve never been too much, or too little. You’ve been the golden spot in between. It doesn’t matter what we do, it’s nice to chat with you about my day, to whine about whatever stupid thing the twins have done or just to simply sit in comfortable silence with you. I’m glad to have you in my life.

I’m thankful that you bared to be around me to get to know me and I’m glad that you let me get to know you.

I don’t believe in such a thing like fate, but the day you somehow found the windowsill at the time I was there was the closest thing to fate I can think of. I’m glad that we both came back there in hopes of seeing each other. I’m happy to be by your side.

Merry Christmas Draco

Yours truly, R/n

Draco stared at the page, his heart beat harshly against his chest. Not once had R/n mentioned Draco being his friend, and the way he- it had to be intentional.

Did R/n like Draco? In the same way Draco liked him?

“Hot chocolate anyone?” Fred called out, bringing Draco back to reality. He folded up the paper carefully, putting it into his pocket as he stood up.

R/n asked Fred for two cups before walking over to Draco. The blonde put the lid on his gift, putting it aside with his other gifts.

“Here.” R/n said, passing him the mug. Draco looked at R/n, taking it from his hands. Their fingers brushing. R/n smiled, watching Draco sip it carefully.

“Oh come on, don’t tell me you’ve never had hot chocolate..” R/n chuckled. He took a sip of his own mug, feeling nice and warm.

“I have.” Draco hummed. He stood beside R/n, the two watching the twins snicker at all of them.

R/n’s face dropped.

“Draco. Don’t drink it.” He said. He felt sick as Fred grinned at him- R/n was going to kill him.

Draco saw Fred giving him a wink.

“Fred. What was in that? What did you put in it?” R/n asked, walking toward the ginger with both cups in hand.

Harry and Hermione both looked up.

“What? Fred put something in it?” Hermione asked. Ron and Sam looked at her.

“No- Just Draco’s and R/n’s.” George smiled.

“What.” Draco had made his way over. Standing beside R/n, pissed.

“Who is up for a game of truth or dare?” Sam yelled. R/n turned to glare at him, only to see him smiling back.

“They are all in on it.” R/n whispered to Draco. He hummed, staring at everyone forming a circle around the couch.

The two looked at each other. R/n felt stress boil at the bottom of his stomach.

“Come on- they probably didn’t put anything in there.” Hermione told R/n. The Ravenclaw huffed, pulling Draco with him. The two sat down beside each other on the couch, George sitting beside Draco.

“I’ll start.” Sam spoke, looking over at Harry.

“Truth.” Harry said immediately. He was a bit scared of Sam.

“Which one was your favorite gift today?” He asked and Harry visibly relaxed- he had expected some crazy question. R/n still sat tense as Harry answered. Draco saw it.

R/n couldn’t help but smile as Draco put a hand over his. R/n interlocked their fingers as they waited for Harry to think of a dare for George to do.

The game was fine so far. Fred dared R/n to count the alphabet backwards. Ron had Draco do 5 push ups. Both boys were keeping away from ‘truth’ this round. They both had a feeling that Veritaserum was involved, but neither mentioned it- in case they were wrong.

“Draco- since you picked dare last round. You’re doing truth now.” Sam told the blonde after he tried to say ‘dare’ when asked.

“What?” R/n cut in- no way was that fair.

“House rules.” Fred and George said a the same time. R/n stayed silent.

Draco waited for Sam to think of a question. R/n glared at George, looking over Draco. George acted dumb- as if this whole thing wasn’t planned by the three.

R/n just wasn’t sure if Harry, Ron and Hermione knew of this beforehand.

And as he started thinking, the voices around him becoming more quiet, he heard Sam speak.

“Do you like R/n?”

“Okay- it’s clear it was Veritaserum that was poured in our mugs.” R/n said as he stood abruptly. Draco kept his eyes on R/n as he explained how fucked it was that they’d spike their drinks just for some laughs.

“You don’t have to answer Draco. Let’s just go.” R/n looked down at the still sitting Draco, he looked tired. He felt horrible that Draco had to sit through this stupid shit.

“Yes.” Draco muttered.

“Okay then, come on.” R/n pulled Draco off the couch, bidding goodbye to everyone as he left.

Draco could hear the quiet snickers as the two walked out.

.

.

.

“I’m so sorry about all that- I’m going to kill them one of these days.”

R/n apologized to Draco, feeling horrible and angry that Draco’s drink was spiked. He felt guilty that he didn’t think of the possibility of the twins and Sam spiking their drinks for fun.

Draco walked along, not saying anything as R/n continued apologising.

They reached the hallway leading to the library and Draco stopped R/n, taking him by the hand. R/n turned around, a frown set deep in his features. Clearly annoyed.

“It wasn’t your fault. And I’m just glad that..” Draco took a shaky breath, closing his eyes to collect himself.

“That I have you. That I can spend time with you.” Such way of speaking wasn’t one Draco was familiar with, but he tried. He’d noticed that R/n appreciated when told how much he meant to someone. Watching him read a letter from his mother and almost crying, smiling brightly when Sam gave him his gift- saying that R/n was his closest friend.

“And.. R/n-” Draco inhaled sharply. R/n stood in front of him, waiting for Draco to speak. The evening sky painted the hallway dark blue- the lanterns shining around them framed R/n’s face in just the right places.

“Kiss me.” Draco whispered, it was a thought that escaped past his lips and as soon as it did- his eyes widened and he turned bright red.

He saw R/n react- he’d heard. He’d fucking heard. Draco groaned, holding his head in his hands as he walked off- panicked.

R/n stood in place, looking at Draco- surprised at what he heard.

“Draco-” R/n finally spoke, trying to catch Draco from whining around, acting as if R/n had stabbed him. The blonde was clearly overwhelmed- gripping at his hair.

“Draco listen to me.” R/n put two hands on Draco’s face, holding him still. R/n stared into his eyes. Draco held his hands over R/n’s.

By complete accident, R/n had pulled Draco behind one of the curtains that hid the stairwell. Draco breathed heavy, his breaths came short as he waited for R/n to say something, do something.

“The stupid Veritaserum is making us both stupid- but please don’t panic.” R/n whispered, barely seeing Draco’s face in the dark. After a few seconds he could make out his features.

“I didn’t want to say it.” Draco muttered- hating that he had to say the truth. He couldn’t say that he didn’t mean it- he couldn’t lie to make the situation less scary.

“Why not..?” R/n felt disappointed. His shoulders slumped and hands loosened. Draco held R/n’s hands in place- regretting speaking up. He wanted R/n to hold him, to kiss him and to just stay so close that Draco could hear him breathing, his heart beating against his chest and his body moving to get more comfortable as he sat beside Draco or laid with him.

“Because I don’t want you to leave- I’m not fine with just being friends, but I could hold it in till now.” Draco’s voice broke as he spoke. He felt shit.

“I do want you to kiss me, I just don’t want you to not want that.” Draco spoke, making himself confused- but R/n understood.

He understood to the point where he grumbled about how big of a fool Draco is before leaning in- kissing Draco.

The blonde wrapped both hands around R/n’s neck, pulling him closer. They both groaned as R/n lost his balance, pushing Draco up the stone wall behind them.

Draco groaned into R/n’s mouth, breathing heavy as R/n wrapped a hand around his waist, still having one resting on Draco’s cheek.

The two pulled apart, R/n resting his forehead against Draco’s as the two panted- smiling like two idiots.

Draco hummed, his breath still caught up in his throat.

“Should have just kissed you from the start.” Draco chuckled, pulling R/n in for another kiss. It was calmer, slower.

“Maybe you should have.” R/n smirked.

Chapter Text

Going back home for the holidays was bittersweet. R/n and Draco spent the whole time together before leaving to go back home.

They had talked a lot about them. As a couple.

And so, they had decided to not say anything to anyone officially since Draco was scared of his father finding out. So to anyone that didn’t know- they were just close friends.

R/n was fine with it, Pansy wasn’t an issue since she knew about Draco’s sexuality and she wasn’t delusional enough to think that she could ‘change his mind’ or some sick things like that.

The two of them promised to write a lot over the week. But Draco always reminded R/n to be careful. To pick his words carefully.

“I know Draco. I’ve written to you before.” R/n reminded the boy, leaning down to kiss his forehead. Draco huffed, smiling at the gesture.

Draco had his head in R/n’s lap as R/n sat up, combing his hand through Draco’s hair. They were sitting on the windowsill, as always. R/n had been more calm with Draco around- Schoolwork seemed bearable.

“Will you be attending the ball?” Draco asked, opening his eyes to look up at his boyfriend. R/n hummed. The Christmas ball had been the focus of many chatter throughout the school. There was no requirement to bring a date, but it was rare to see someone going alone. Many people went with their friends or partners.

“Don’t know. Maybe.” R/n shrugged, closing his eyes as he tilted his head back, feeling the cool glass on his head.

“Would you want to go with me?” Draco asked bluntly. R/n smiled, snorting.

“No- absolutely not my love, why would I do that?” R/n joked. Draco groaned, pinching R/n’s hand.

“Joking- I’m joking” R/n laughed, leaning down to look at Draco.

“I’d love to go to the ball with you.” He whispered, Draco felt butterflies erupt in his stomach. He sat up, pulling R/n’s face down- planting a kiss on his lips.

Draco could feel R/n smile against his lips. The blonde pulled back with an unsatisfied groan- he didn’t want to be kissing R/n’s teeth.

“Stop smiling so much.” Draco muttered. R/n raised an eyebrow.

“You’re as red as a tomato, it’s not possible to not find that smile worthy.” R/n hummed, kissing Draco’s cheek. The blonde rolled his eyes, smiling as he pulled R/n into another kiss.

.

.

.

Draco stood nervously at the entrance of the ballroom. He had went there earlier to wait for R/n, perhaps calm his nerves. But waiting there did the opposite. He watched people walk past, anxiously waiting on his man to show.

He perked up as he saw the twins and Sam. He noticed the top of R/n’s hair and walked toward the boys.

“Hey Malfoy” Fred and George greeted the blonde. He saw Sam smile at him, moving to the side as Draco greeted everyone. R/n was dressed in a dark green suit. He’d styled his hair, it was very different from his usual hair which was a fluff of chaos, but Draco found the slick back incredibly hot.

R/n smiled at Draco, waiting for the twins and Sam to leave them be. Draco smiled, following R/n to the side where no one was.

“Hello Love- you look great.” R/n smiled at Draco. The blonde hummed, fixing up his collar. R/n chuckled, pulling Draco in for a kiss.

Draco felt his stress melt away as he wrapped his hands around R/n’s neck. Feeling R/n right there, where he could touch him, feel his presence, brought him down to earth. Nothing mattered as much when R/n was by his side.

R/n dragged Draco into the ballroom- much to his dismay.

“We came to the ball- might as well enjoy it.” R/n said in a low tone, looking around, trying to find his friends.

“Well, maybe I just wanted you to be all dolled up so I can look at you all night?” Draco muttered, leaning in to speak into R/n’s ear as the music picked up in volume.

“You’ll have the chance to look at me all night, I don’t want to spend the entire time here.” R/n replied, looking at Draco as he spoke. The blonde smiled.

“Good.” He yelled out.

“Good.” R/n yelled back, pulling Draco through a crowd as he spotted their friends crowded around one of the tables.

“I’m going to go chat with Blaze and Pansy for a second, I’ll be back.” Draco spoke into R/n’s ear, holding his shoulder as he did. R/n looked at him and nodded.

Draco walked off to another table as R/n walked up to see what all the fuss was about.

“What’s going on?” R/n asked Fred as he looked at the table. Sam was sitting looking around the dance floor. Harry and Ron seemed to be sulking, as did Fred. Hermione and George were no where to be seen.

“Everyone seems to have found a date but us.” Fred looked up at R/n, annoyed. R/n looked at Sam to see him standing abruptly, running to Julie.

Fred only groaned.

“I thought there would be a lot less couples.” Fred whispered.

“Where’s George?” R/n asked, sitting down at the very sad looking table. Ron and Harry laid on the table with their hands crossed, heads resting atop them.

“With that girl- I dared him to ask her out and she actually agreed.” Fred pointed to where George and Flora, a girl R/n had tutored last year, a Grifindoor, were dancing. R/n felt happy that George seemed to be enjoying spending time with her- his smile drawn from one ear to the other.

R/n smiled at Fred, feeling bad that he had to feel left out.

“Why don’t you ask that girl to dance?” R/n pointed to a girl standing alone. A Hufflepuff.

Fred huffed, getting up from his chair.

“She won’t- trust me.” He grumbled before walking off. R/n turned his attention to Ron and Harry.

“We’ve asked everyone we could.” Rob spoke before R/n had the chance. He hummed. R/n looked around- spotting Draco talking to Blaze. He smiled, looking back at the sulking boys.

“Then let’s just go dance. It’s not meant for only couples.” R/n stood up, dragging Harry and Ron off their chairs simultaneously.

They agreed to, with a load of groaning and whining- R/n watched them slowly get into the rhythm. And as they were having fun, he left them be.

He walked back to the table, sitting down. He leaned back in the chair- seeing Fred dance with the girl R/n had told him to ask to dance. R/n made sure everyone was having fun.

A gnawing feeling returned to his stomach as he couldn’t fine Hermione.

He stood up, turning to the outside. He pushed past people, apologising for the interruption as he did.

The cold evening air made him huff. He walked down the steps and turned around- deciding to walk around to see if she was outside.

R/n’s stomach dropped as he saw Hermione, sitting alone- clearly crying.

“Hermione, hey.” R/n sat down beside her on the snowy bench. Hermione cleared her eyes from the tears.

“R/n.” She greeted solemnly. The two sat staring at the snow falling down around them.

“What happened?” R/n asked, breaking the silence. He was starting to get cold and he couldn’t imagine how Hermione felt- sitting in the wet snow in only a dress, her shoulders bare, open to the cold around her. R/n slipped off his blazer as Hermione sniffled, he patiently waited for her to speak.

“Ron is a fool!” She yelled suddenly. R/n stayed silent, making sure his blazer stayed on Hermione’s shoulders, holding it in place.

“He’s been running to every other girl trying to get a date- Why didn’t he even consider me?!” Hermione cried, she sobbed into R/n’s shoulder. R/n held her tight, worried for how she was shaking.

“He doesn’t see you- he’s blind to what he has.” R/n grumbled- Ron wasn’t the brightest tool in the shed when it came to love. R/n knew that the ginger liked Hermione. Why hadn’t he asked her to the ball?

“Let’s get inside- we can just dance around if you want.” R/n leaned down, looking at Hermione. Her face was red, eyes puffy from crying.

“Don’t you have Draco?” The girl asked, voice hoarse.

R/n just smiled, pulling her up to her feet. The wind picked up and R/n was more than happy to lead Hermione back inside. The snow had fallen in their hair.

“What happened.” Draco was already at the front door, waiting for them both.

“Ron’s scum. We’re cold.” R/n smiled at the blonde who pulled out his wand- clearing both of them of the snow, also drying their clothes.

R/n accompanied Hermione to the food table. Draco was with them both as R/n urged Hermione to make the most of what she had.

“Hermione- You don’t need him. You’re wonderful and could get any guy you want.” R/n yelled over the loud music. Hermione laughed for the first time the whole night. Draco smiled at R/n.

“Plus! There aren’t any slow dances for couples- let’s just go!” R/n took his blazer off Hermione’s shoulders, leaving it by the snack tables on one of the chairs.

He pulled Hermione into the crowd with one hand while waving Draco over to them with his other.

Draco was stiff at first, barely moving to the songs but seeing as R/n was having fun- he loosened up. The people around them pushed and shoved but for R/n and Hermione, it was part of the experience.

People steered clear of Draco as they saw the glares he was throwing their way after bumping into him.

The music changed a few times but it stayed the fast speed type. As the night came to the end- it was strictly slow dance type songs. Hermione had left the ball all together a while back.

Draco had spent some time following R/n around as he made sure all his friends were having a good time and safe.

The Ravenclaw tried his best to somehow help Ron and Harry but it didn’t work.

As the slow dances started, Draco felt nervous to ask R/n to dance.

And as he opened his mouth to speak, he was stopped by Cedric.

“Hey R/n. Draco.” He greeted them both, the blonde with less happiness than the Ravenclaw.

R/n smiled, greeting Cedric with a quick handshake.

“So.. you dancing?” Cedric looked R/n up and down, side eyeing Draco who was glaring at him.

“Not with you I’m not.” R/n grinned, shaking his head. He saw Draco glaring at the Hufflepuff, he saw Cedric side eye Draco. He wasn’t a fool.

Cedric frowned.

“Awe. Alright then, have a grand time.” He hummed, looking at Draco for a split second before he walked off. Draco side stepped to stand closer to R/n, snaking a hand around his waist.

“He’s nice.” R/n teased, turning a bit to wrap a hand around Draco’s waist.

“You’re kidding.” Draco huffed, rolling his eyes, causing R/n to laugh.

Draco could smell the alcohol on R/n’s lips. He and some of his class friends drank some smuggled bottles. Draco could only laugh, seeing R/n’s face twist in disgust.

R/n was surprisingly sober for the amount he’d drank. Draco leaned closer to R/n’s face, planting a kiss to his temple.

“If there’d be less people- I’d have kissed you.” Draco whispered into his ear. He smiled as he saw R/n’s cheeks turn bright red. Tipsy R/n was much more easily flustered, he was more confident and talkative than usual but his cheeks burned red each time his flirting was reciprocated.

“We can go somewhere where there’s less people so you can kiss me.” R/n whispered back, grinning as his eyes glistened. Draco smiled, he’d been worried that R/n had changed his mind about leaving early- and they’d fallen behind schedule, but as R/n motioned for the doors, Draco felt relieved.

Draco led R/n along the edge, careful not to attract any attention to them. He just wanted to get out as much as R/n.

R/n giggled as the two stumbled outside, the alcohol affecting their movements, just enough to where it was hilarious.

The blonde couldn’t help but laugh along. They ran to the school, laughing as they stumbled in the snow.

Draco had almost fallen over, getting a loud snort from R/n- not an ounce of worry.

They stopped near the school’s entrance, R/n pulled Draco into a kiss. The blonde hummed as their lips connected.

R/n breathed heavy as Draco pulled him closer. The cold air no longer bothered them as their bodies touched, sharing the warmth they had. R/n let out a groan as he felt Draco’s mouth open against his lips. Draco couldn’t pull back as they started making out. Till that point, their kisses had been innocent. Short, sweet.

The closest they’d come to making out had been at the very start- but they had been scared to even insinuate french kissing.

Draco felt like every part of him was on fire, R/n’s touch felt so hot- as if it was burning a hole into his skin.

.

.

.

They had made their way to R/n’s room, Draco being thankful that Sam had stayed with Julie.

R/n pulled Draco’s coat off- kissing his neck. Draco let out a groan- leading R/n to his bed.

The two had no idea what to do- but at that point it didn’t really matter, Draco didn’t have his shirt and neither did R/n. They were just going along with it.

Draco fumbled with his belt and R/n stopped him, placing a hand over his, pulling out of the kiss.

“Wait- who’s doing what.” R/n looked at Draco, worried for how little they’d planned this out. Draco, feeling his head spinning, stared at R/n, mind blank.

“I’m not bottoming.” R/n muttered. Draco inhaled sharply.

Draco sat back, basically sitting on R/n’s lap. R/n propped himself up on his hands, looking up at Draco from his position of basically laying down on the bed.

“Well shit.” Draco muttered. R/n let out a snort- this was beyond amusing.

Draco let himself laugh too. He watched as R/n laid down, turning his head upward, pushing it into his pillow.

He let out a groan.

“This is so stupid.” R/n groaned, resting a hand on Draco’s leg, running his hand up and down.

“A bit.” Draco couldn’t help but agree. What were they supposed to do now? They were both hot and bothered, Draco could feel R/n’s hard-on. The blonde was sitting in his lap after all.

R/n inhaled sharply as Draco kissed his neck- R/n felt Draco move on his dick, making R/n let out a moan.

“I’ll just-” Draco mumbled into R/n’s neck, his hand traveling to R/n’s pants. “- help you with this.”

R/n hummed, raising his head to watch as Draco undid R/n’s pants. The Ravenclaw felt himself heat up- it was a bit embarrassing to let Draco see his dick, but the alcohol helped him brave through it.

Draco wrapped a hand around R/n’s dick, slowly moving it up and down. R/n let out deep breaths, huffing as Draco’s cold hand felt amazing around him.

The Ravenclaw lowered his head, his hands tugging at his covers, gripping at them to stop himself from finishing so early. He let out breathy moans, eyes closed as he pushed his head back into his pillow.

“R/n, look at me” Draco said, R/n let out a whine as he raised his head- looking at the blonde. Draco smiled, speeding up his hand just so see R/n throw his head back with a loud whine.

R/n shuddered as he felt Draco’s hot breath on his dick.

“Fuck..” R/n cursed, picking up his head- watching as Draco took R/n’s dick in his mouth. R/n buckled his hips up as Draco looked at him. R/n chuckled as he heard Draco gag.

Draco pinched R/n’s leg- feeling satisfied as R/n let out a low hiss.

R/n lowered his hand, down onto Draco’s head, fingers tangled in his blonde locks. He guided the younger boy down on his dick, letting out breathy moans into the night.

The blonde stood abruptly. Looking at R/n who sat up, looking at him, surprised.

“Fuck this.” Draco muttered as he pulled his pants down.

“What- What’re you..” R/n asked, his mind a bit hazy.

Draco kissed R/n to shut him up.

“Stretch me out.” Draco whispered into R/n’s ear, feeling incredibly embarrassed to ask anything like that to the older boy.

With a hum from R/n’s mouth, Draco was laying on his back, legs held open by R/n’s hand, the other on his hip as the older boy leaned down to kiss Draco’s neck. Hearing Draco moaning R/n’s name made him desperate.

“Here.” R/n pushed three fingers into Draco’s mouth, breathing harshly as he waited for the blonde to wet the fingers, gripping the inside of his thigh, telling him to speed it up.

“You ready?” R/n asked, looking up at Draco from down between his thighs.

The blonde nodded, urging the older boy to ‘just do it’.

“I need a vocal yes, my love.” R/n reminded, his voice oh so sweet.

Draco raised his head, locking eyes with R/n.

“Yes.” He whispered, earning a raised eyebrow from R/n.

“Please.” Draco then groaned out. R/n smiled as he pushed one finger in. Draco gasped, throwing his head back into the pillow.

(that’s all I’m writing xoxo)

Chapter Text

The morning after the ball was pure bliss. R/n woke up to Draco asleep beside him, this morning was different than the others. A nice tiredness washed over R/n. He felt refreshed and happy.

R/n moved, seeing Draco’s eyes flutter open.

“Morning love.” R/n hummed, kissing Draco’s forehead. The blonde grumbled something, turning to lay on R/n’s chest. R/n smiled as Draco shut his eyes. They didn’t have any classes today so he saw no reason to get up early.

R/n kissed Draco, softly pecking his lips. He smiled as Draco parted his lips, running his hand through R/n’s hair, landing his hand on R/n’s neck.

R/n smiled down at Draco as he laid back down on R/n’s chest.

R/n ran his fingers through Draco’s hair. He felt at peace till he felt a gust of wind pick up through his curtains. He sat up quickly, careful not to hit Draco as he practically jumped out of bed.

Draco poked his head out, frowning as he looked at what R/n was doing.

The two teens looked wide eyed at Sam who sat in bed, smirking at them both.

“Called it.” Sam said, laughing as Fred and George stood up from his bed, congratulating R/n on loosing his virginity.

Draco closed the curtains around R/n’s bed, quickly pulling one of R/n’s shirts on him.

He listened as R/n told them off for overstepping his privacy but they just laughed. Draco took another shirt to give to R/n.

The blonde crawled out of bed, glaring at Fred as he slapped him on the shoulder- smiling from ear to ear.

R/n put on his shirt, taking it from Draco’s hands. It did nothing to hide the hickeys and bites Draco had given him the night prior.

“How long have you all been here?” R/n asked, clearing his throat. Draco stood beside him, resting his head on R/n’s shoulder. He was so tired, standing was a challenge.

“Came over like an hour ago.” Sam told R/n, walking over to stand between the twins who were chuckling quietly at Draco. R/n crossed his hands over his chest, trying hard to not smile.

“So- you two together, huh?” George asked, R/n swallowed before nodding.

The three started yelling- screaming that they’d known all along. Draco groaned, burying his head into R/n’s neck. Wrapping his hands around R/n.

Hey, If they knew, there was no reason to hide it anymore.

Draco smiled as they all gushed about all the ways they knew- the way R/n had been looking at Draco when they were in the great hall, eating. How pissed Draco had been on multiple occasions of someone coming up to talk to R/n.

R/n frowned, turning his head to look down at Draco.

“People usually ask me about school work, you know that right?” R/n laughed. Draco hummed.

“They should ask their professors for help.” He muttered and R/n scoffed, the smile he’d been hiding making its way to his lips.

R/n held onto Draco’s hand as the two stood waiting for the train to take them home.

“Write a lot.” R/n reminded Draco. The blonde nodded. His eyes staring off into nothingness.

R/n took a deep breath, looking away from Draco.

The two teens almost groaned as they heard the train whistle in the distance.

R/n looked around, finding the twins waiting for him.

“Draco.” He spoke, catching the blonde’s attention. “I’ll come over to you in the train, okay?” R/n motioned toward the twins. Draco looked over, nodding.

A heavy feeling came to Draco as R/n walked off, Draco knew he’d come to say goodbye properly.

“You coming?” Draco heard Blaze call for him. The blonde walked off to his friends.

R/n stood with the twins, watching Draco chat with Pansy and Blaze.

“It’s just Christmas break, it’s barely a week anyway. You’ll see him soon enough.” Fred spoke up, his voice calm as he saw how stressed R/n truly was.

R/n smiled at Fred, pushing his worry down.

“I know- It’s just going to be very weird.” R/n sighed. George looked at Fred.

“Will you be visiting us?” George asked.

“Of course- Miss Wesley will be waiting anyway.” R/n smiled at the twins.

The three got on the train, finding an empty compartment to sit in. R/n put down his things. Sitting down to talk to the twins.

He heard a knock on the doors, turning his head he was surprised to see Draco there, waiting for him outside.

“I’ll be back.” R/n muttered, smiling as he opened the sliding door. Fred and George smiled at each other.

“I was about to go find you.” R/n said, closing the door. Draco nodded, pulling R/n into an empty compartment just beside his.

“Thought I could change it up a bit.” Draco smiled. R/n hummed, pulling Draco closer.

The two kissed, R/n holding Draco’s neck, pulling him into the kiss. Draco’s hand snaked around R/n, letting out a hum as R/n laughed.

“What?” Draco asked, pulling back. He smiled as R/n shook his head, still chuckling. R/n simply wrapped his hands around Draco, holding him close.

“I just love you so much.” R/n sighed, holding onto Draco’s coat.

“I love you too” Draco couldn’t help but smile into R/n’s shoulder. The two swayed as they basked in the silence. Just the train track rumbling just outside.

Suddenly,

Draco pushed R/n to sit down as he almost fell over, the train shaking slightly. Draco sat in R/n’s lap, holding onto his hand tightly.

R/n let out a huff, holding Draco close to him as they waited for the train to stop moving around so much. Draco dropped his head on R/n’s, his hair falling over his eyes.

“I wish you could come with me..” Draco murmured. R/n sighed, wrapping a hand around Draco, pulling him down to sit beside R/n, not on him.

Draco stared at their intertwined hands as R/n watched him fumble with his hand, running his fingers over R/n’s knuckles.

“My parents wouldn’t mind, it’s just yours that need to be convinced.” R/n hummed, placing a tender kiss to Draco’s temple.

“Yeah..” Draco whispered.

Chapter Text

R/n spent Christmas with his parents, telling his mom about Draco and confessing that the two were in a relationship- his parents were more than happy for him. They had raised him well and they were absolutely fine with him dating the blonde. And of course his dad had to joke about how if Draco came over, R/n’s bedroom door would be open.

Spending two days at the Wesleys home was hectic. Chaos in every corner of the house, clutter that R/n thought was essential to the home. But R/n felt at home. Miss Wesley always made sure R/n had eaten. The twins were more than happy to show R/n every corner of the house, telling him about what they’d done to get in trouble.

Every night, R/n sat down and wrote a letter to Draco. He made sure to be careful of what he wrote, as they’d talked about.

“R/n, you up for late dinner?” R/n raised his head, seeing Fred staring at him from the door. R/n nodded, finishing the sentence before putting away his quill.

“Late dinner?” R/n asked as he stood up, walking over to Fred who nodded with a smile, moving so George could be seen, waiting for R/n.

“We always have late dinner, it’s a staple.” George smiled at R/n. The three walked down the stairs, careful to not make a lot of noise.

It was late in the evening and everyone had left to their respective rooms.

Ron and Ginny barely spoke to R/n, but the twins always said it was because R/n was ‘too cool’ which still worried R/n. He didn’t want the kids to be afraid of speaking to him. For whatever reason.

“Okay, take a plate and pile it, then we can go back upstairs.” Fred whispered to R/n, passing him a plate.

George and Fred took as much as they could while R/n just took a little of what he was craving. Fred and George waited patiently for R/n to pour himself some water before the three aimed for the stairs.

R/n raised his head, seeing Ginny peeking down at them.

“Go to bed Ginny.” George urged his sister, she only scoffed. She turned around and walked into her room. You could hear her door close. And then it was back to silence.

“So, how are you and Draco holding up?” Fred asked R/n as they sat in the guest bedroom where R/n was staying.

“Good, all good.” R/n smiled, taking a sip of his water.

“It’s weird that you two even became friends in the first place.” George piped in. He stared down at his place, eating some chicken wings.

“I guess so.” R/n looked over at him. “But we did, and I think you all like him being nicer to you. Don’t you?”

The twins hummed, rolling their eyes in sync. R/n couldn’t help but chuckle. They were in sync so often. He was just glad that he could tell them apart. Not many people really could.

Draco sat in his room, in bed, reading a book absentmindedly. He raised his eyes lazily as his bedroom door opened. His house elf brought him a letter, quickly leaving the blonde be before he could say anything.

With a sigh, Draco looked over the envelope. From R/n.

He perked up, carefully tearing it open.

He took out the single page, being careful with the parchment, fearing that he might ruin it.

Draco,

My parents wish to see you, I told them of our friendship and they are beyond happy for me. As they said ‘Our son finally has a true friend’ which i don’t fully know how to feel about still. But nevertheless, there’s another page here meant for your parents from my dad. I hope they agree to send you over to my house for a day :)

Draco anxiously flipped around the page, finding no second letter there.

His father most likely already took it. The blonde folded up R/n’s note and put it back in the envelope carefully.

And with shaky hands, he picked up his book and tried to read it and not think about how his parents would react.

Only an hour later, he heard his mother call for him.

He rushed out of his room and down the stairs, making sure not to run, just walk in a quicker pace.

There, in their living room stood his father and mother.

“Is this boy your friend?” His mother asked with a smile.

“Yes mother, he’s a Ravenclaw a year above me.” Draco nodded. He hoped they wouldn’t mind that R/n wasn’t a Slytherin.

His father held a piece of paper in his hands, reading it over multiple times. His mother continued with the questions.

“Is he smart?”

Yes.

“Have you been friends for a while?”

Yes.

“Does he treat you well?”

Yes.

“He’s inviting us all for dinner at his home, would you want us to go?”

Ye- wait what?

“R/n’s inviting all of us..?” Draco asked. R/n had not mentioned inviting his parents..

“His father is. He’s insisting that we all come as he wishes to meet his sons only friend’s family.” His father scanned over the letter once more.

Draco snickered a bit, R/n would hate to hear that being written about him.

“We leave in an hour. Go get ready.” His father urged.

Draco nodded, excusing himself before running to his room. He wore the nicest clothes, both trying to impress R/n’s parents and R/n himself.

.

.

.

R/n’s home was.. weirdly small from the outside. Draco’s stressed spiked as his father knocked on the front door with his cane. They had arrived early. Wanting to see how good they actually lived before having the chance to clean everything up for guests.

The door opened and what Draco guessed was R/n’s mom, opened the door.

“Oh hello.” She exclaimed as she saw the three, surprised to see them. She checked her wrist watch.

“You’re here early. Come on in then.”

She opened the door and Draco looked around the hallway, it was clean and he didn’t see anything his father would have issues with.

He glanced at the wall, seeing photos. With a grin, he saw a picture of R/n standing at his front door with a nervous smile, waving his hand.

‘First year at Hogwards’ was carefully written on a little piece of the wood frame.

“Draco? Come.” His mother pulled his attention away, Miss L/n let them into the living room. There was a TV.. Draco tensed upon seeing all sorts of muggle things sprawled around the room. Maybe there had been more in the hallway that he didn’t notice. But a pang of hope hit his chest as R/n came into the living room from the kitchen. Draco locked eyes with his boyfriend and seeing him light up helped calm his nerves. Draco waited patiently for R/n to greet his parents, his tone was respectful and quite honestly- Draco found it incredibly attractive.

His eyes landed on what R/n was wearing. A simple cream colored button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, the shirt tugged into a pair of black dress pants. a silver chain hanging loosely around his neck, laying comfortably against his collarbone.

“How about F/n and I show you around the house?” Miss L/n inquired and both of Draco’s parents agreed. Their house seemed bigger, much bigger on the inside than it did on the outside.

With a wide grin, R/n greeted Draco, the two walking behind their parents.

Draco smiled warmly, already feeling much better with R/n by his side. He made sure to pay attention to what R/n’s parents were pointing out in each room. An office where Mr. L/n worked, a small library where most books were gifted to the family, a lounge between rooms.

Draco peeked up when Miss L/n motioned for the two boys to go.

“That’s about it on the common things. R/n, dear, you and Draco can go for now, I’ll call when dinner is served.” Draco thanked the woman as R/n lead him away.

“My room is over here.” R/n muttered as he grasped Draco’s hand once they were out of view, swiftly pulling him into his room.

Draco looked around R/n’s room, standing timidly near the door while R/n watched him look around.

“It’s nothing really..” R/n smiled warmly, taking a step toward Draco who’s eyes landed on the boy.

“Your room is.. huge.. yet, full.” Draco stringed together a sentence, his hands pressing against R/n’s chest as he took a step closer. R/n grinned as he tilted his head, eyes shutting as he pulled the blonde into a slow kiss. Draco’s heart almost jumped at the reality of the situation. He was in R/n’s room. Their parents were right outside, by the sounds of footsteps. And yet there R/n was, in all his glory, holding Draco’s waist, pulling him in.

Draco felt nervous but all he could feel from R/n was peace. He flung away the worry, melting into the kiss. If it was something to worry about, R/n would be worried.

A feeling of longing washed over Draco as R/n pulled away slowly, his half closed eyes lingering on Draco’s lips.

The blonde couldn’t remember R/n being this slow and careful, this caring, it flustered him to no end and seeing R/n chuckle at him made him blush even more.

R/n let out a short huff as Draco pressed his face into R/n’s shoulder, hiding his face from the taller man.

“I’ve missed you.” R/n whispered against Draco’s hair, wrapping both arms around Draco, swaying the younger boy slightly.

R/n hummed as Draco grumbled into his shoulder.

“What was that?” He whispered in a teasing tone, using a hand to grip Draco’s face, lightly forcing him to look up at R/n.

Fuck you.” Draco breathed, his eyes switching from R/n’s lips to his eyes. With a soft smile, R/n pulled Draco into another kiss.

He carefully pushed Draco against the wall behind them, hearing Draco let out a muffled moan.

“Do you wanna see my book collection?” R/n pulled back and muttered. Draco punched him with his cheeks reddening even more, if even possible.

“You’re such a tease.” Draco groaned, harshly pulling R/n into another kiss by his shirt collar.

.

.

.

Draco sat between his parents at the dinner table. R/n sat opposite him, also between his parents. The ‘grown ups’ were talking about the ministry, Draco silently ate, paying more attention to the new foods he was seeing for the first time.

He heard R/n comment on a few matters aswell, he looked up at him with a look of pride- he was a Ravenclaw after all. R/n only smiled in response which was more than enough for the blonde.

R/n’s parents were very ‘bubbly’ so to say, they had their opinions and they explained them in a tone of ‘sharing’ and not ‘arguing’ which was nice to hear since his own parents (more so his father) was trying to cause an argument, R/n’s parents deflected immediately. Had R/n told them about how his father was? Or were his father’s ways simply known to the public? Draco didn’t know, nor care as the topic of school came up.

He had finished most of his plate by then. Draco watched R/n look down at his plate, noticing that he had barely ate anything.

“I’m excited for my O.W.L.S, I’ve been studying a lot and I am confident that I’ll be passing all of them with.. good grades.” He cleared his throat, glancing at Draco who snapped his eyes away, realizing he had been staring.

“Draco, R/n has mentioned you often study together, has be been helpful? We know he can be a bit much when it comes to school work.” Miss L/n chuckled and Draco saw R/n sink into his chair even more.

“He’s very helpful actually.” Draco explains, failing to hide his slight annoyance. How can his own parents blatantly call him ‘too much’ when R/n is the most patient and understanding person Draco has ever met.

“We often just revise things together and since R/n’s a year ahead he can explain things, since he already knows the answers.”He shrugs, calming down a bit as R/n throws him a stern glare, kicking his foot lightly under the table.

Draco can’t help but find it attractive, seeing R/n smile at his mom as if nothing was going on under the table. Draco pushes his foot against R/n’s, seeing him glance at him with warning.

The blonde can only grin, hiding his smile from the rest of the table, glancing down.

He could feel R/n’s breath hitch as he brings his foot higher, making sure no one suspected anything. Their parents continued on with other things and Draco acted as if he was listening to R/n’s dad while pushing his shoe onto R/n’s crotch.

The blonde watched R/n grip the tablecloth, running a hand over his mouth to not bring any attention to himself. Draco grinned, circling his foot around, seeing R/n readjust himself in the wooden seat, shooting Draco a look.

So desperate..” Draco thought with a smile. Suddenly R/n gripped Draco’s shoe.

“Mom, can I and Draco go?” He asked quickly.

“If you’re both done eating, sure.” She smiled, R/n stood with a smile, practically dragging Draco back to his room. Draco grinned as R/n carefully shut the door after them, turning and harshly pulling Draco into a kiss.

“You’re a moron.” R/n groaned between kisses. Draco only smiled.

.

.

.

“You feeling okay?” R/n hummed, running his fingers through Draco’s hair. The blonde just hummed, wrapping his hands around R/n as the two lay tangled in R/n’s bed, R/n laying in only his sweatpants and Draco in his boxers and R/n’s shirt.

Draco’s parents had left, agreeing to let Draco stay with the L/n’s till the start of school. That would be 3 days. R/n traced the blondes face, contempt. His parents had left them alone, thankfully. R/n saw no reason to keep his door open if there was no way for either of them to get pregnant. And what’s the harm in sex?

Draco crawled closer, stuffing his face into R/n’s neck, letting out a soft breath, tickling R/n’s skin with feathery kisses.

“I love you.” He whispered, suddenly serious, as the two made eye contact. R/n stared back, silent.

“I love you more.” He smiled sheepishly. Draco shook his head.

“Absolutely impossible.” He hummed out, laying on R/n’s chest, looking at R/n’s face.

“I love you most.” R/n tried again with a smile, seeing Draco’s cheeks redden. Seeing the blonde try to hide his smiling face.

R/n chuckled to himself, wrapping his hands around Draco, squeezing him tightly.

“I adore you.” R/n whispered. Draco stared at the wall, listening in on R/n’s quickly beating heart.

“I admire you.”

His heart beat quickened.

“I crave you.”

He took a deep breath in, slow exhale out.

“I really do love you. So much.” R/n kissed Draco’s head, leaving his lips planted on his head as the two breathed, R/n tried to calm his racing heart.
