Chapter Text

Year 3010...

A nervous eighteen year old Min Yoongi was waiting for his best friend on the rooftop. He took deep breaths trying to stay calm for the big night. He had to confess this time. It shouldn't be that hard, right? He fixed his hair and took out some mints from his pocket. Just in case he got enough courage to kiss the boy. Honestly, he wanted to taste good enough to be kissed back.

- Psst, Yoongi! You there yet?

- Y-Yes! Let me help you!

Holding his hand, Yoongi helped Jimin climb up with him. That boy was like a dream for him. The dark hair, big eyes, full lips, chubby cheeks and the sweetest voice he ever heard in his life. Just by seeing him up close his heart was about to explode.

- I'm not late, am I? I had to escape my parents to get here

- I hope they don't call the police again

- Nah, they think I'm studying in my room. But fuck them honestly

Yoongi could hear the frustration in his voice and decided not to say anything else about it. They sat with their legs hanging from the edge of Yoongi's roof. It wasn't the first time they had a night like that. From that place they could see the whole city and most importantly they could see the space station. That night, more than one neighbor was looking at the same thing as them.

- They say the spaceship should take off in thirty minutes so we still have some time

- Thank God. For a moment I really thought I was gonna miss it...

- I would've recorded it for you, Jiminie...

Yoongi couldn't care less about that spaceship. All he wanted was to see Jimin smile for him. And there it was. His best friend had shiny eyes, staring at the ship ready to enjoy the view. Unable to stop himself, Yoongi took a picture of him.

- Cute.

- Hmm? A photograph again? Why do you like those vintage things? You could just ask an A.I. to create any picture you want

- Believe me, there's no Artificial Intelligence in this world that could be able to re-create your beauty.

Yoongi realized what he said and bit his tongue. He's never been good at hiding his feelings and if it wasn't because Jimin was absolutely oblivious he would've confessed a million times by now.

- You are always so weird, Yoongi

- Yeah...Oh! I got something to make this even better!

He pulled out an old cellphone and pressed play on a song that was hundreds of years old. Jimin closed his eyes for a moment enjoying the sound. Yoongi was always able to find him the best music in the world. Even if he could never understand what the hell the lyrics meant.

- Do you ever listen to the current music, Yoongi?

- Nah. Ever since we got an universal language the music became... different. I like the old music.

- Where every country talked in a different way? Sounds like torture

- And yet you're moving to the rhythm of this

Jimin shrugs and keeps enjoying the music while staring at the spaceship. For the younger, Yoongi's a total mystery. He has a strange love for worthless things and dead cultures. He's too emotional and gets easily attached to the old stories. But even if he can't understand him, denying he enjoyed his company would be a complete lie.

Meanwhile, Yoongi had no idea how he fell in love with a boy like Jimin. The younger always followed a logical way of thinking. Never understanding the emotional moments of people around him or even himself. And yet Yoongi couldn't imagine his life with anyone else but him.

- Jimin... Actually...I wanted to tell you something...

- I wanna tell you something as well.

Seeing the way Jimin hugged his own legs as he frowned, Yoongi encouraged him to go first. And the young boy had to take a deep breath before turning his head and staring straight into Yoongi's eyes.

- I don't care what people say, Yoongi. I don't care if they judge me or if they try to stop me

- M-Me neither! I don't care about the rest. As long as we have each other...

- I can't believe I'll finally say this out loud

- I know, I've been waiting so long. I lo-

- I wanna go to space.

-...Eh?

- My parents think it's useless. All we do is look for answers outside our world. But I wanna go up there! I wanna be a captain, see the stars up close, meet the aliens in person and not through the TV...I know it sounds stupid but-

- It sounds incredible, Jiminie. If there's one person that could do all that and more it's you. I'm sure you'll be the best astronaut the world's ever seen...

Jimin felt his eyes get teary but looked away immediately. He hated getting emotional. But this was the first and only person that would support his dream. So avoiding his eyes, he took Yoongi's hand and stared back at the spaceship.

The countdown started and eventually they see it take off. Jimin's eyes followed that ship dreaming of the day he could be in one. Meanwhile, Yoongi's eyes stared at the boy next to him. He knew Jimin was going through enough right now. A confession was the last thing he needed back then so he decided to keep his feelings hidden a little longer. But even if that was his decision, he didn't let go his hand. Because he wanted to hold it for the rest of his life.

If only he knew nothing lasts forever maybe he would've confessed back then. Because now 10 years have passed and keeping Jimin close to him is not as easy as he thought it would be. Especially after the younger gets the mission he's been waiting for his entire life...

We were waiting for you, Seokjin

Chapter Text

Year 3010...

A 20 year old Jin stared at the huge spaceship from the space station's window. He was one of the few people who had the privilege to see it from up close. The only reason he got to be there was the fact that his big brother was part of the crew. To be specific, he was gonna be the captain of that huge white spaceship.

Jin wasn't a kid anymore and yet he couldn't help but feel defenseless. Something about that situation was giving him a bad feeling and he couldn't understand why. The man in charge of the space station took the mic ready to send his message to the world.

- This is not the first ship we send out and it won't be the last either. But it'll take us one step closer to what we need. We won't stop until we find a new planet where we can all live peacefully. One that will allow us to leave this earth that our past generations managed to destroy

Earth had evolved in many ways. Science being one the main bases of common life. But the environment...that was never the priority of the men in power. Not until it was too late. The water crisis was hard enough to get over. If it wasn't because of the science advance the human race would've died all together. But by the time they fixed it a new crisis was starting.

- Deforestation together with the contamination of the seas caused our quality of life to go down. The amount of oxygen in the air is less every year. But we believe there's hope! Out there we managed to find dozens of alien societies, hundreds of planets and it's only a matter of time until we can find a second earth!

- Look, son! There he goes!

Seokjin follows his mother's eyes trying to spot him. It takes him a few seconds to find him there. With a big smile on his face, Kim Heechul is preparing his helmet before entering the ship. By his side, the sub-captain Donghae who's also his brother's best friend is laughing by his side. The rest of the crew are close behind them ready for their mission.

And Jin can't stop his own feet from running towards them. Security tries to stop him but Heechul makes them a small signal for them to let him pass. He wouldn't mind one more hug from his little brother.

- Wait! Don't go! Can't you...can't you let someone else go in your place?

- Hey, come here Jin.

The two boys hugged. While the oldest was only trying to calm him down, something was telling Jin he shouldn't let his brother go. But as always, the kind voice of Heechul helped him relax.

- I know you'll miss me. But you need to stay here and take care of mum, okay? It'll only be 5 years!

- That's a lot...

- Maybe...But after that, I'll be back and we'll meet again.

- You promise?

- Of course! You'll be the first one I'll share my adventures with. We'll eat mum's cake again and play cards like we used to. And who knows? Maybe on the next trip you'll come with me!

Jin smiled and finally forced himself to let him go. And he pretended to be okay for the next minute. Until the spaceship disappeared into the distance and he allowed himself to cry. Because he knew he wouldn't be able to talk to him for years and all he could do was wait. He studied every night hoping his brother would come back like promised. But five years went by. And then five turned into seven...nine...now 10 years have passed and despite it all, he keeps waiting.

Currently (Year 3020)...

- Dr. Seokjin! We have someone from planet 134340! He's been sick ever since he landed on earth

- Let them in.

Jin carefully makes a check up on the creature. There's still humans on earth that think aliens are like animals and Jin is some kind of vet. But he's conscious that even if they're not human, they're still people. They have their own culture, habits, shapes and colors. Maybe they're not the same yet they're still equal.

- I'm gonna give you a shot on your left side, okay? Getting used to the earth's atmosphere ain't easy. It's barely possible for us so I can't imagine for you

- I'm not sure I can pay for that, Doctor

- Please, you don't have to worry about that. It's on me. And you can just call me Jin

- Thank you, Do...Jin

Any alien visiting Seoul knows he's the best professional they can find. After a long shift, when Jin is about to go home, his secretary stops him. She looks almost excited to give him a paper with an address written on it.

- What's this? The space station?

- They called while you were out for lunch. They said the government called for you personally! I know you keep waiting to get news from your brother. And I don't know if that's what this is but...I have a good feeling about it!

She could see the hope in Jin's eyes. She just believed someone as kind as him deserved to have answers. And the next morning a few minutes later than expected, Jin was once more inside that space station. A few sad memories come back to his mind but he tries to ignore them. Looking for the right door, Jin gets lost several times. This place is huge and he hasn't been here since that night 10 years ago. When he finally finds the room and enters, everyone turns to him

- We were waiting for you, Seokjin. Take a seat, we'll start in a minute

Giving a small reverence, Jin walks up to the huge table and sits as far from the leader of the station as possible. Looking around him he can recognize a few faces. Not because he's friends with them. They're simply known professionals in their field.

First of all, Jung Hoseok. A man with a bright smile known for being in charge of several expeditions to space. He never left earth for more than 3 or 4 months but he's known for his kindness to his crew and his effective results at work.

In front of him, he can recognize Suran. A woman known for her scientific advancement that allowed the few trees left on earth to create 1/3 more oxygen. Enough to buy the human race at least 20 more years on this planet. Her face is so serious you could think she's a robot.

By her side and with a very similar expression, he can recognize the one and only Park Jimin. Known to be the King of science and the future of earth. All hopes are on the shoulders of that young boy that started to study in poverty in his broken home and ended up becoming the best captain the planet ever had.

- I guess we can start. First of all, welcome. As you can tell, there's a few empty chairs. That's because we only called in the best of the best and...well, not everyone of the best has time for a meeting. But we'll talk to them eventually. We have a mission for you. It won't be easy nor short. But if you accept you could be the ones to save us. Are you in or not?

- Shouldn't we have more details before accepting?

- Seokjin. The information that will be shared with all of you is absolutely confidential. It can't leave this room. And if you say yes, this is one of the last rooms you'll be in before heading out

- Out?

- To space, Seokjin.

Jimin's voice sounds like he's stating the obvious. For a moment Jin feels attacked. Until he sees that excitement in the young boy's eyes. He's clearly dying to hear the rest of the details. And Jin makes a choice. Spending his life waiting is starting to become a torture. Maybe going out himself could get him the answers to his doubts. He accepts having no idea he's about to hear an official secret that's been hidden for over 5 years...

So they found a solution to our problem?

You need to create a lot of songs for me to listen to while I'm up there

Chapter Text

Only those who accept the mission can stay in the meeting room. And even though most of them stay, there's some people that walk out not wanting to take that risk. Especially people who have a family to take care of. Jin doesn't even think in moving, he already decided he would join the crew. But he looks around to see how the rest reacts. Suran looks at Jimin before asking in a low voice about it.

- Are you staying?

- Obviously.

The young boy isn't even looking at the door but her... she's doubting for a second. Considering the advantage of staying on earth. Even if her expression is not very emotional, it feels like the option of walking out is tempting her. However at the end, she decides to stay in her seat. Jin wonders if she wants to leave because she doesn't wanna be near Jimin. But...they actually look pretty good together.

The people left in the room stare at the man in charge waiting for what he has to say. He clears his throat and starts talking while avoiding Jin's eyes.

- As you know, we've tried it all to preserve life on earth. Our projects and investigations keep buying us time but that's all they do. Whenever there's an excursion out there it's never far enough. Last time we sent a ship to make a long distance trip...

- It was Heechul's ship, right? - Hobi remembers - The one that didn't come back yet

- Exactly. We considered that was a lesson for us to stop trying something so risky but...we would like to give it a shot. One last time.

- Why the last? Why did you stop at all?

Jimin is curious. He's been like that since he heard about that project being on hold. And the man at the head of the table sighs before pulling out a small black device.

- Because we know the risk. That ship we sent 10 years ago...it won't return.

Seokjin's heart stops for a moment. The man is too serious and the object on the table is easily recognizable for the people there. It's an old communications device.

- They were supposed to be gone for 5 years. They could not talk to us during that time. Unless...

They know. If someone has an emergency up there, they can send one final message. It's not to ask for help because it would never get to them on time. Usually, it's a warning. The man presses play and Jin feels the tears about to come out. He can recognize immediately his brother's recorded voice. Even after all this time he has no doubts it belongs to him. On the back, the sounds of screams and gunshots are heard.

- "This is Kim Heechul, ID 613. There's no need to find another planet. I repeat. There's no need to find a second earth. We can heal the one we have. As long as we have Nam. That's all we-"

One last gunshot is heard before the recording stops. The silence is louder than ever. Jin can see every possible scenario go through his head. Never deciding on one of them to be definitive.

- I'll remind you, it's a national felony to talk about what you just heard outside this room. The government doesn't want that to be public. And we were gonna give up on it. We did for a long time. But we're running out of options so...

- Wait, they're dead?

- We don't know that - Jin says - We have no proof they're not out there waiting for help

No one really believes that's the case. And just to make sure, Jimin tries to clear some doubts about their mission.

- Are we going there to find them, sir? To bring them back?

- No. They are considered dead.

- But we can't be sure! Besides, my brother said we didn't need to leave earth. We just need the "Nam" whatever the hell that is!

- So they found a solution to our problem?

- Are we going out there to find the Nam?

- Do we even know what that looks like?

- Is our mission to find the responsibles of what happened?

The amount of theories and guesses thrown around are starting to overlap. With everyone talking over each other's voices. The old man leading the meeting has to ask them a few times to calm down before the room is silent again.

- Gentlemen, everything you say is very honorable. I'm sure captain Heechul would be thankful but...we only showed you this as a warning. Your mission is the same as the one they had.

- But the-

- The difference is you'll go for longer time. You'll keep an eye out for the "Nam" and most importantly you should know if you don't find a new planet for us, we're pretty much doomed. Is that understood?

Slowly, the men in the room nod. Jin has to clench his jaw as he does. He's glad he stayed in that room. He's probably the only one that will keep trying to find his brother when they get up there.

- We'll get into details soon but just to be clear, we'll do everything we can to keep you safe. We don't know if that last ship was attacked by aliens or space pirates or what. But we'll give you our best spaceship for this mission.

Hobi can finally begin to relax. The last thing he wants is to end up dead away from home. At least not if he can avoid it. The man shows them every new item they created for the trip. Including new suits, new functions on the ship and also...

- This are the new pills. I'm sure you all recognize them. It's what we give any alien that enters earth so they can talk and understand our language.

- What's new about them?

- The government promised they would give pills free to anyone as long as they had a tracer inside. These ones have a much less invasive one. We wanna keep the aliens we meet as safe as possible. We don't need any more enemies.

Seokjin agrees. From what he gets from the explanation, the new tracer is mostly off unless someone actively turns it on from the ship's panel control. Every model before this one was constantly activated and it would turn on whenever an alien would talk. The sound was the only thing needed for that alien to be tracked down.

After a long meeting they're finally allowed to go. They have only 3 days before leaving earth. Even though they still need to choose a few more people to join the crew, the main positions are taken. As they walk out, Jin gets near Jimin and stops him.

- Hi, I'm Seokjin. I just wanted to say it'll be an honor to be your subordinate

- Mhm

Jimin doesn't even say a word. Just a nod before walking away. All of that with a very serious expression. Confused, Jin feels someone else put his hand on his shoulder.

- Don't mind him. He takes a while to open up.

And he's right. Tha captain of the new ship is nothing like his brother used to be. Not a smile or a welcoming speech is given by him. At least not to Jin. Because as soon as Jimin is far enough from the rest, he needs to show his true emotions to the only person he trusts...

Chapter Text

Jimin walks a few blocks away from the space station. And only when he's sure there's no one around him, he finally breaks down. The tears won't stop falling from his eyes. He's been waiting for this moment his entire life. It took him so much effort to get here, so much sacrifice. And he finally got the news he was expecting. He'll achieve his dream. The one everyone said would be impossible.

He's so excited his knees are shaking. He can barely stay standing up. Hell, his hands are also shaking so bad it's hard to text his parents about it. It's always been hard for him to handle moments of extreme emotion. Anxiety tends to take over him. And the only thing he can do to stay calm is pull out his cellphone and put on a song. The music helps him relax.

He walks his way to Yoongi's house. He's the only person that will receive these news in person. And as soon as he sees that gummy smile, something inside Jimin feels warm. The anxiety disappears for good this time. His body is no longer tense and when he talks his voice comes out firm. It almost doesn't sound like he was crying a minute ago.

- They chose me

- Eh? You're supposed to say hello, Jiminie

- They chose me to be the Captain on an important mission. I'll go to space. Real unknown space. I'll find new planets. I'll see things no human has ever seen. I'll...

Ah, there go the tears again. Yoongi pulls him close for a hug, holding his waist with care and kissing the top of his head. Hoping he's not crossing the line.

- Jiminie, that's amazing! I knew you could make it! It was only a matter of time!

Jimin's whole body can relax in those arms. He can't understand why. What the hell does Yoongi have that he can have those effects on him? And that raspy voice near his ear could become a drug for him.

- I'm so proud of you, Jiminie

- You need to create a lot of songs for me to listen to while I'm up there

Yoongi smiles wide before pulling away. His favorite hobby has always been looking for old dead languages and writing music for his best friend. Even if the years have passed he never crossed the boundaries of friendship. He never got the courage to do it and Jimin never even mentioned that as a possibility.

- Of course, Jiminie. How long will you be gone? I need to see how many songs to include!

- Oh, 10 years.

- T-Ten years?!

- So you should just include them all now that I think about it...

- B-But in 10 years... I'll be like 40!

- Hmm I wonder if you'll be a married man with children when I return.

- No! I won't, believe me. And...you..

- Oh, I definitely will be just as single. I mean, I'll spend my days working with my crew. Most of them are people I don't know but very professional from what I heard. At least Suran will be with me.

Yoongi now feels even worse than before. He doesn't trust her at all. Not because she's a bad person but because she's always too close to Jimin. And the panic of seeing them together has been in his head since they were merely students.

While Jimin looks for something to drink, Yoongi tries to calm his breathing. Ten years without Jimin? How the hell is he gonna survive that? He once left on an 18 months mission to the moon and Yoongi was a second away from dying of sadness. While he panics, the younger is calm and returns with a coffee for each.

- Are you really gonna leave for that long?

- Well, it depends on how much we take in finding a new planet. Maybe if we do it on time, I'll be back earlier. Maybe 6 or 7 years.

- And...what about us? We won't be able to talk while you're gone!

- That's why I'm asking for music, isn't it obvious? Besides, I'll be back safe and sound and we'll be friends again

Jimin's not scared or sad about it. There's something inside him telling him he'll always have Yoongi. He'll wait for him to return and nothing will change. And also, having his music will keep him close in a way.

- When are you leaving?

- Three days from now

- THREE DA...I need to sit down

Yoongi can hardly process the information while Jimin looks out the window. The space station partly visible from there. He still remembers that night he decided to study for this while being in this house's rooftop. Only nerves and excitement are flowing through his veins. The dream he fought for is at the tip of his fingers.

- I hope we leave on time. They still need a few more people to join us.

- ...More people?

- The best of the best as they said. Suran will need a lab partner since I'll be busy being the Captain. She gave a long list of people with the capacity for it. So maybe Minho or Yeonjun or Kihyun or...who knows?

- Kihyun...I see.

While Yoongi is thinking the craziest shit inside his head, Jimin walks up to him and hugs him again. He wants to feel the touch one last time.

- Thank you. For supporting me.

He shows his hyung the widest eye-smile without realizing the effects of it. Yoongi can't look away. He looks so happy. It must be the first time Jimin isn't absolutely tense. Getting this far was his gold for so long that he can't hide the feeling. Not in front of Yoongi at least. He'll make sure to be a little more subtle with the rest of the world.

- Goodbye, Yoongi. And don't forget the songs! You know I need them to relax

When the young boy walks out, Yoongi pulls out his phone without a doubt on his mind. He can't stop him but he can't be separated either. So he just...

- Hello?...Kihyun? Yeah, I need to ask you for a big favor...

What are you doing in the ship?

Diugh, that was the most disgusting thing I ever tasted!

Chapter Text

On earth, people stare at the spaceship leaving earth. Some of them think the crew inside it will find a solution to their problems. Others don't let themselves get the hopes up. It takes several minutes for the ship to be stable again after the take off. But eventually they're deep into space and Captain Jimin can finally leave his chair knowing he won't lose balance. He checks for the direction they're taking and simply nods.

Some planets are unvisited by men but still visible so they know their location. Others are simply in need to be discovered. After keeping things under control he goes back to his seat. Next to him, his sub-captain Hoseok starts a conversation.

- You know, usually a new Captain makes a whole speech to his crew

- Usually, yes.

- You didn't even welcome them aboard. We just took off as soon as we heard we were all here!

- I'm not an influencer, Hoseok. All they need to know about me is the obvious. That everything will go perfectly as long as they follow my orders.

- You could be a total dictator if you tried

Jimin frowns. He's not demanding anything from his workers other than for them to follow the established rules. He's not there to have an emotional talk. Those things make him way too anxious. Before he can say that to his sub-captain, someone else takes his side.

- Our Captain is just sure he's capable of protecting everyone so there's no need to explain why they should stay calm. I think Jimin's confidence is leadership enough!

That voice makes Jimin turn around confused as ever. There, standing next to Suran is his best friend Min Yoongi. Hobi wasn't trying to attack Jimin but he's still slightly shocked to know someone was able to defend him while showing a big gummy smile.

- Yoongi? What are you doing in the ship?

- Uuuhmm...They called me!

- They called...you?

Jimin can't help being taken aback. Not to be a dick but even if Yoongi completed his career he never stood out. At least not by being good at it. Yoongi insists his private project about some strange "chemical thing" got the government interested. Jimin is slightly frustrated with the non-professional words. But also with the idea of having Yoongi close.

Of course, it's too late to kick him out and he wouldn't do something against the government but...he can't help to have mixed feelings. A part of him is happy to have him here. While the other part simply wants to focus on his job in achieving a perfect mission. And he knows the only person able to distract him...is Yoongi.

He doesn't plan on avoiding him but the first days they don't meet again. Jimin has too much to do and he's the kind to overwork. For him it's worth it. Because now, they're landing on the first planet on their route and everything comes out perfectly. The landing comes out so well the crew is starting to get impressed. Their boss might be cold but he's definitely skilled.

- Okay, what do we have here?

Hoseok asks as they get down from the ship. He looks around to see a planet that looks very different than described on the old archives.

- The weather is not as hot as it's supposed to be - Jimin says - Not even close...

- The whole ecosystem is different than what we thought. Look! There's a forest over there!

Looking around they see not only that but also a new variety of creatures. They all look peaceful and calm. They walk slowly in 5 legs and none of them even cares about the intruders. Or that's what they think at first. Until Jin spots one of them looking slightly different.

With green eyes, it walks up to the crew and without blinking his shape starts to change. He's not the same size, color or texture anymore. He's a now a perfect clone of Jin but with green eyes. Looking at the rest, his features go changing, like taking something different from each of them. A different height, a different nose, even his eyes end up slightly different with only one of them getting a double eyelid.

- That's impressive - Jin smiles - I would love to study him if he would let me!

- Ruari jou, mian

The alien says the strange words while extending his hand. No one can understand what the hell he said and the one most excited about it is Yoongi.

- That's so cool! The accent is so soft and it flows so lo-

- Yoongi, please.

Jimin talks seriously, even though he's not as stern as he would be with others. Moving the rest aside, the Captain walks up to the pretty alien with green eyes and hands him a pill. But all the creature does is holding it on his hand while staring at him. Trying to help, Yoongi stands by Jimin's side and takes out a mint. He shows it to the alien and then eats it.

- What the hell are you doing, Yoongi?

- If we can't communicate yet, being an example is the best way to be understood! Look! see?

Jimin turns back to the alien only to see him eat the pill. And just as expected, the next words that come out of his mouth are extremely easy to understand.

- Diugh, that was the most disgusting thing I ever tasted!

- Sorry about that, they don't really make them in other flavors

- I knew I shouldn't have eaten anything that wasn't green...wait...you speak like me!

- Backwards actually. You speak like us. Of course you can still use your own language if you prefer but...if you wanna talk to us, you can!

The boy with green eyes shows a happy boxy smile. He's clearly a curious creature that keeps asking them questions. If it wasn't because Jimin takes the lead, they would end up talking all morning. But the Captain explains what mission they're in.

- Your planet isn't big enough for us. But the more information we get about the place the better for our books of research

- Of course! You wanna meet my family?

- Actually...could you guide us through the forest?

- The what?

"Forest" is a concept the alien can't fully understand. Jimin tries to explain it with words but Yoongi can do it with just one gesture. He points at the many trees in the back and the alien immediately understands.

- Ah! Pari's home!

- Pari?

- Our protector! I'll take you!

The humans assume it must be some kind of God. Religions aren't that rare in space after all. Seokjin prefers to stay behind and take some register of the creatures there while the rest follows the green eyed alien. They hear about how that forest is what divides the planet in two. On this side, he lives with his family and the most pacific creatures you could ever find. But on the other side...he shivers just by mentioning its existence.

As they walk through the forest, Jimin can't help but smile. The trees look so much like the ones on earth. The only big difference is the color. Here half the trees are dark red and the other half shiny blue. Of course they take samples of everything until they suddenly hear something getting closer.

- What the hell is that?!

A huge red creature with a horn that could pierce through anything is running up to them. Specifically going Yoongi's way. Out of instinct, Jimin pulls his friend closer to him to save him. He never thought his heart could freak out so much. He wonders if it's because he's scared of failing as a Captain. Well, what other reason could there be?

The creature doesn't even touch them but instead keeps running. This time towards the pair of green eyes that stare right at him. And none of them is ready to risk their life to save the poor alien. If that creature touches him at all, he'll die...

Well that alien has a completely different vibe

Let me go, you violent psycho!

Chapter Text

The humans see the big red animal run towards the friendly alien they just met. Even though none of them wants to see him die, they're not getting in the way of that thing. And the alien looks so calm they wonder if he's not seeing the same as them. In an attempt to save him, Hobi warns him while half covering his eyes.

- Kid! Move! He's gonna kill you!

- I know

They don't understand. Of course they don't. Their culture is very different from the one on this planet. The green haired boy believes life is a cycle. If his time has come that's okay. There's nothing to be afraid of. He knows that after this his body will become a part of the "forest" as they called it. Pari will take care of it.

He doesn't even close his eyes. And that's why he can see the exact moment the animal in front of him dies. A spear pierces his head through. And holding it is the alien's biggest fear. Someone from the other side of his planet.

- Well that alien has a completely different vibe

- Yeah no shit, Hobi. Look at him! He's full of tattoos and scars! Looks badass as hell!

Yoongi is amazed by how manly that alien looks. When he saw him jumping onto that creature to kill it, he thought he was a kid having the time of his life. He moved like a professional hunter and his eyes were focused on the prey. Or at least that's what he thinks. Who else could he be looking at?

The green haired alien has an inner voice asking him to run away from him. But his legs won't move. He stares into those black eyes and slightly panics when he sees him come down from the dead animal. That man doesn't seem to care about the red blood on his hands.

Meanwhile, the humans stare at the scene and comment with each other. Because maybe those aliens are supposed to be enemies. Both from different parts of the planet but... there's something else there. While one of them is scared to death the other one seems...worried?

- What are they doing?

- The hero we didn't expect? Checking his friend to see if he's hurt. The green lovely one? Having a heart attack.

- Am I the only one that kind of ships those two? - Yoongi asks - Or am I going delusional?

- I hate to have an unprofessional conversation when we're supposed to be working - Jimin frowns - But that being said I give them two weeks before they marry

- I wonder what an alien wedding looks like

Jimin tries to stop Hobi and Yoongi from losing track of time with their dumb conversation. He orders both of them to get closer and they start hearing the voice of the new alien. Even though they have no idea what he's saying.

- Sha'kh trahk, Pak'thra

His accent and language are different from the one of their new friend. It sounds rough and extremely hard to pronunce. Some of the sounds are new to their ears. Well, to most of them. Yoongi has already heard so many ways of speaking nothing surprises him that much anymore.

When Jimin gets close to them with the pill for the other to eat, things get slightly out of control. The tattooed alien pulls the other behind him and points his spear at the humans. Probably taking them as a second threat.

- No! Leave them alone!

The green haired one stands between the spear and the humans making the other immediately back off. Jimin takes another step forward and hands the lovely green eyed boy a pill. Scared, the armed alien gets protective and possessive again. He pulls his "friend" closer one more time.

- Ouch! Let me go, you violent psycho!

- Ethk ohr phegrik'la, Pak'thra

- Give him the pill! He'll understand us if he eats it!

Scared to death but trying to be brave, the green eyed alien obeys. He takes the pill in his hand and puts it in his enemy's mouth in one fast move. As soon as he's done he pulls the hand away hoping he doesn't die for this and whispers to himself.

- Please don't kill me, please don't burn me, please let me go, please, please, ple-

The tattooed boy opens his eyes wide as he stares at him. He can't believe his ears.

- You...You talk like me...I understand you, Pak'thra! I can't believe it!

He seems so genuinely happy, the green boy is confused. Is this a trick? It could be. His kind are known for having no empathy or heart so this could be just a way to mess with him before killing him.

- I-If you understand me then l-let me go

Immediately, he does so. He was only trying to keep him away from those humans. Nothing else. But he's not the best at controlling his strength. And the boy he was trying to protect now has a big bruise on his arm.

Since he can understand all of them, Jimin introduces himself again. He assures him he's not there to hurt anyone. And while he's at it, he thanks him for saving them.

- If it wasn't for you maybe that thing would've killed our new friend

- I would never allow that

- Yeah, right. - the other alien scoffs - You guys kill anything that moves. I bet you're gonna eat his corpse

- Obviously. It's enough food for 3 moons

- Ugh, you savage!

Hobi and Yoongi are a second away of talking about how they ship them even more now that they're arguing. But something stops them. Inside the forest someone claps two times. And just like that, silence is made. The two friendly aliens don't speak another word. Instead, they turn around and show their respects to the person coming. The green eyed one slightly bows as he stretches his hand in an elegant way. And the tattooed one kneels on one knee with his head down and letting his spear fall. From between the trees, they see one more alien apear.

- Pari

- Patra

Chapter Text

Clapping twice was all it took for the two arguing aliens to shut up and pay their respects. The group of humans see one last stranger appear in the middle of that blue and red forest. He looks so different from the other two. Jimin can't be sure why but there's something in the way he walks, in the way his eyes stare at them. If it wasn't impossible he would say he comes from a different planet than the one where they're standing.

He's tall, with almost white colored hair and sharp eyes. He looks bigger than the other two and by the way he treats them you could think he's the father figure between them. He takes the hands of the other two aliens and nods softly towards them. All of it without saying a single word.

- Ugh, I apologize for arguing...but only because Pari asked me to

- I'm not sorry for killing that animal

- Hey! Unfair! Pari is telling us to-

- But I am sorry for scaring you and hurting your arm, Pak'thra

- Whatever...

While the second apology sounded honest, the green eyed alien is clearly uncomfortable next to the other. As soon as "Pari" sees the humans, he forgets about the little fight and pushes his two friends behind him to protect them.

- Bro, do we really look that scary? This is the second one that thinks we're a threat!

- Just give him the pill, Hoseok

Jimin is getting tired of all this nonsense and his eyes ignore the aliens to travel around the place. Meanwhile, his sub-captain tries to hand the latest alien the pill only to be absolutely denied.

- He won't take it, Captain

- Pari doesn't talk anyways

- He doesn't?

Yoongi sounds disappointed. He totally wanted to hear a new language. But the two youngest aliens assure them in all these years they've never heard a single word come out of his...friend? Father? God? Whatever he is to them. As they talk about that, Jimin walks his way past them to finally reach the center of the forest.

Standing there in the middle of a blue and red forest, there's a huge purple tree. The only one with that color. Stronger than the rest. Jimin's little hands touch it softly and he has to try his best not to smile. An earth covered in them would be quite a view. But soon enough he goes back to his more serious tone.

- Take samples of everything. Don't worry about the last alien, he doesn't need to take the pill if he doesn't want it.

While everyone works, the green eyed alien talks to Hobi and Yoongi ignoring the rest.

- Are you all going back to your planet after this?

- Oh, we're just starting this mission. We have way too many planets left to visit!

- That's so cool...

His eyes shine hearing about it. The idea of going to space seems so tempting to him. Jimin can see it and his brain starts working at full capacity. Maybe the mission would work even better if...

- Want to come with us?

- R-Really?!

- That way our doctor could study the way your bodies adapt to this environment. This trees are slightly different than ours and every new information is good for us

- Uh, Captain? That's no-

- Considering we can't have a second trip after this one to investigate anything else, the more we know the better. Isn't it, Hoseok?

- I mean yeah but...who's gonna keep an eye on them?

- You, obviously.

- M-Me?!

- Besides, we'll make sure to bring them home on our way back.

While Hobi tries to process he might be in charge of something he didn't sign for, the tattooed alien talks. Leaving the planet? That's out of the question. Do you know the kind of thing that would take him to agree to that?

- I'm sorry but I don't wanna go anywhere with a bunch of hum-

- I'm going! I'm totally in! I always wanted to go up there! I would love to join you!

Hearing the excitement in the green eyed alien, the other stays quiet for a millisecond before immediately changing his mind.

- Yeah, I'm dying to join you too

- Ugh, I think they're okay with me. You don't need to go as well.

- Actually, it'd be ideal to have both of you on board.

Jimin can only think of the advantages of having two species to analyze. He'll make sure Seokjin can take care of that. After an hour or two they finally head back to the ship. They expect only two aliens to follow them but to their surprise the third one is walking right behind them.

The white haired one isn't smiling like his friends. He looks rather worried. Like he fears for the lives of the other two. As they get to the ship, he even tries to hold the other aliens back. That is until someone else comes out to greet them.

- Took you a while! Oh, and you brought new people! Do any of them need a doctor?

When the white haired aliens connects eyes with Jin, he forgets about everything else around him. He just runs up to Jin and hugs him while letting himself cry in his arms leaving everyone else in shock.

- Do you know that one, Jin?

- I...I don't think so? I think I would remember him.

Jin is absolutely confused. Especially when they tell him the man didn't look like a receptive person at all. He didn't even take the pill! And yet here he is. Hugging him with no plans of pulling away. Not that Jin is complaining. He loves aliens! And this one being a big man with muscles that cries like a little boy as he hugs him carefully...is adorable to say the least.

- Is everything okay? You don't need to cry...does something hurt?

No answer.

- Oh and he doesn't talk either. Unlike those two over there.

Jin turns to see two young aliens bickering on their way into the ship. One with a big bunny smile and the other one with an angry pout. When Hobi gets close, he seems surprised

- I guess this one has a soft side...

- You know, the fact that he could break my bones but he's hugging me like I'm made out of glass is kinda romantic hahaha

It's an innocent comment. Just a joke to lighten the mood of his sub-captain who's still dealing with knowing he'll have to keep an eye on the other two weirdos. Of course it's a joke, Jin has no idea what love or romance feels like. He spent his whole life working and waiting. Nothing else. Jimin frowns hearing their tone

- You know that one is not supposed to come, Kim?

- What? Why not? He seems to be calmer than the others!

- As we said, he didn't take the pill. We won't be able to communicate with him.

- I don't think that'll be a problem

- Oh, really? Are you sure?

- I...yes.

Seokjin and his stupid habit of trusting his gut. He can't see anything bad with keeping this one on the ship. Jimin shows a condescending smile before trying to walk away.

- In that case he's your responsibility now, Seokjin.

Before he can get far enough, the white haired alien takes Jimin's hat off. The one that shows who the captain is. And without a doubt, he puts it on Jin. The doctor has to laugh uncomfortably under his young boss's scrutiny. He takes off the hat and gives it back letting Jimin walk away rolling his eyes.

- You shouldn't do that again. Don't make me regret this, big guy

Hobi walks up to them wanting to guide the three aliens towards the lab for the first tests. But while the younger ones are willing to follow him, the third one hides behind the doctor while holding his waist. Something tells Jin he won't be able to stay away from this one for a while...

Chapter Text

Jimin makes sure everything is perfect to continue with their mission. They have enough information to keep learning about this planet as they travel. For now, he already feels like this is not the one for the humans. Is too small for them. Especially if you take into account there's already many aliens living in it. Honestly, the only part he's interested in are those trees and the amount of clean oxygen they create.

- Everything ready, Captain!

- Perfect. Let's keep going as planned then.

- Yes, Captain!

Jimin starts to walk back to his chair when he comes across a pale boy that keeps looking at him with stars in his eyes. Yoongi is about to say something sweet or cheerful but Jimin is faster than him.

- Room.

- Y-Yes, Jiminie

They close the door behind them as they enter Jimin's room. Yoongi swallows hard knowing by his tone this is not right. Though he secretly loves the way his cute little Jiminie frowns when he's angry.

- I read part of the project that got you in this ship. Not to be disrespectful, Yoongi but...did you really write that?

- I...Y-Yes! With some help...

- Help? From who?

Jimin suddenly sounds interested. He was starting to get scared that maybe Yoongi lied to him while reading that project. He didn't wanna believe it. Yoongi would never do something like that. But a part of him started to get paranoid and he needed to hear the truth from the only person in the world he trusts.

- Kihyun. He helped me. I used to be his roommate a few years back, remember?

- Ugh, yes. He made weird face whenever I came to visit

- He always shipped us

- Eh? What's shipping?

- N-Nothing! So...Uhmm are you angry?

Jimin bites his tongue. He's not sure how he feels. He's relieved Yoongi's being honest. But also he wasn't ready to spend this whole trip with Yoongi by his side. And his friend can see that. He can see how hard it is for Jimin to work when he's near. But he doesn't think that's a bad thing at all.

- You know, I could make more songs for you during this time

Jimin's eyes light up for a second and a tiny smile shows up without wanting to. As soon as he realizes what his own reaction is being, he stops himself.

- I'm supposed to focus on work, Yoongi

- Yeah...so? You once told me music helped you work?

Jimin avoids his eyes. Yes, music isn't the problem. Having an adorable Yoongi so close is.

- I meant...you should focus on work instead of-

- Making music? I can do both! I promise, Jiminie. Trust me!

- ...Okay

Not gonna lie, the idea of getting new songs gets him excited. Still, he tries to hide it for now.

- I should go back to work, Yoongi. But tonight I want you to sit next to me at dinner

- Yes! I would love to-

- So you can tell me more about that project. It sounds interesting!

Yoongi nods trying to look calmed even though he knows he'll have to spend a few hours re-reading that boring thing. They head out of the room and Jimin stays standing there, staring at his crew. He takes a deep breath trying not to stress. This is the job of his dreams. Even if it's extremely overwhelming at times. Yoongi's hands hug him softly from behind making Jimin close his eyes with the touch.

- Hey... You're doing amazing, Jiminie. We only started and you already got to see trees. Real trees!

His voice is so smoothing, Jimin relaxes. For once, he feels proud of the way this started. Not because he wasn't before. But only now he stops to think how magical it actually felt. His shoulders only tense again when a different voice sounds and he finally pulls away from his friend.

- Captain!

Yoongi leaves him and Hobi to have a talk. The sub-captain is holding his hand that has bite marks all over it.

- And what the hell happened to you?

- That alien doesn't let me get even near Seokjin! It'll be a disaster to have these guys on board, Jimin!

- It'll be okay. You can talk to Seokjin if his alien isn't comfortable here

- You're just trying to do extra work, as always.

- It's not that much work if you help me, Hoseok. We'll be the best crew on earth. We'll exceed everyone's expectations doing everything they asked us for and more. People will love us!

- And we'll help our planet a-

- Yeah, yeah, that too

Hobi sighs. They don't really have the most empathetic lovely Captain in charge. Even if he's more than qualified for it. And Jimin continues with his mission knowing that no matter what look his sub-captain gives him, there's always someone else that will forever support him. A pale man with adorable eyes that would never betray his trust...

If you can heal so fast then how come you have so many scars?

Since we're gonna share a room, you need to follow my rules

Chapter Text

The three aliens are all gathered in Jin's work room. The doctor is getting everything ready to examine them while he tries to get used to the tall alien hugging him constantly. Yoongi decided to join them just because he's really excited to see those creatures. Even though they talk like him now, there's still some words that come out of them in their natural language. The kind of things that can't be translated and that make Yoongi take mental notes just for fun.

- Okay! Before we start, why don't you tell us your names?

- My name is Calycanthusflorudis

-....Do you have any short nickname?

- Uuuuh...that's actually the short version

- Oh...

Jin and Yoongi have to try his best to even remember the beginning of that name. And the green haired alien realizes it won't be that easy for these humans to do that.

- Why don't you give me a human name? I'll take it as lovely nickname to use while we travel!

- Are you sure?

- As long as it's something pretty then yeah!

Jin and Yoongi stare at each other before making a list with several names. None of which is fully convincing. Until...

- You know who he reminds me of? That alien cartoon from when I was a kid, it was called Tata!

- Yoongi! We're not naming him like a cartoon! Although...how about Tae?

The young alien smiles liking the idea and the decision is settled. They now turn to the tattooed boy ready to hear his name. And if they thought the first one was hard they weren't ready for this one.

- I don't think you humans will be able to pronunce it

- Maybe we ca-

- I'm J'KhX'k

He was right. The name might be short but some of the sounds are impossible to reproduce. Even the H has a clicking sound Yoongi finds fascinating but also impossible. They try a few times but all they manage to do is make the alien laugh of their "terrible accent". He allows them to give him a human name as well and their debate starts again.

Meanwhile, Tae is reading through the list of possible names and finds one that gets his attention. He whispers to himself about it not knowing he's being heard

- Aww "Kook" sounds adorable

- I know my name! I know which one I want! You humans can call me Kook from now on!

He sounds almost desperate to pick that one and neither Jin or Yoongi have a problem with that. Honestly, it kind of fits him. Tae rolls his eyes not seeing the connection between that cute name and that violent alien but he prefers not to say anything. After all, that is the last person he wants to start a fight with.

- Okay then! Let's start with you, Kook!

Jin begins by taking some blood. Or at least that was the idea until the needle broke as soon as it touched his skin. He's even tougher than he looks. Clearly his big muscles are a result of years of living doing all kinds of exercise. Jin takes a new and thicker needle this time. Kook's blood is a shade of red different from the human one. A lot more intense for sure.

As soon as he takes the needle out, there's no need to make pressure. A thick needle like that should leave a tiny mark but this one doesn't. Well, actually it does but only for a millisecond before it disappears.

- Wow, that is amazing! You can regenerate!

- Wait, hold on. - Tae says - If you can heal so fast then how come you have so many scars?

Kook could die right now and he would die happily. Finally Tae asked him a question being genuinely interested and without calling him a psychopath.

- This scars were made during our wars and our huntings, Pak'thra. They're the honor of our species

While Tae finds that absolutely ridiculous, Jin and Yoongi comprehend it pretty fast. Kook comes from a part of the planet that's filled with warriors. This is not a rare mindset to them. Continuing with the examination, Jin asks him a few questions. Including some about his eating habits

- My people and me eat animals. They are harder to hunt but also a lot bigger now! All thanks to Patra

Kook points at the white haired alien behind Jin but this one doesn't say a single thing. If anything, he hides his face even more on Jin's back. Eventually, it's time to examine Tae.

- Okay! I know you changed shapes to look like us but you can turn into your original form if you want

- Original? I don't think I have that. I've been shifting since I was a baby!

- Fascinating, so you could be anything?

- Anything that I know or see, sure!

Tae looks around the room. Jin has a picture on his desk and one of the people there is a pretty girl. In under a minute, Tae looks exactly like her. Jin makes some scans and can't help to be amazed by the result.

- Holy shit, it's incredible! You can even create a seemingly functional uterus!

- I'm kind of copying that medical sign you have about human organs. But to be honest I'm not sure how they work so it must be pretty useless.

He shifts back into his male form since he finds it more comfortable while Jin takes notes. The doctor is ready to take some blood samples but Kook intervenes, looking threatening this time.

- Don't. Hurt. Tae.

Confused but not wanting to make Kook angry, Jin gets a thinner needle. Tae's blood has a beautiful blue color, shiny and eye-catching. As soon as he pulls out, no matter how slowly and carefully he does so Tae starts to bleed. It looks like he was stabbed when in reality not more than one or two drops should've come out. It's clear his species is a lot more fragile.

Seokjin realizes what their roles are in that planet. Kook might be a strong warrior and a hunter. But Tae is simply a prey. However, those two who should be enemies for life have a strange dynamic. Because as soon as Kook sees him hurting, he touches the boy's arm making it heal immediately. Tae doesn't thank him and Kook doesn't ask for it either.

While Jin saves Tae's blood sample right next to the last one he took, he asks the same questions as before. Unlike Kook, this alien would never hunt an animal down.

- Ah, a vegan. Makes sense.

- The plants in our planet are delicious, you should try them! And we have a lot more variety thanks to Pari!

Once more, all eyes turn to the white haired boy who gives no answer at all to that. After another hour of getting to know each other, Jin stays in his work room to examine the last one of them. Meanwhile, Yoongi guides the other two towards their room.

- Here it is! You can get comfortable and if you ever need anything you can tell Hobi!

- Shouldn't we tell the captain? You know, the short one with a serious face?

- No, he's busy and stressed. My little Jiminie has a lot of work! So try not to bother him!

The two boys agree and Yoongi walks out leaving them alone. Tae takes a deep breath. He can't remember when was the last time he was alone with someone like Kook. Especially inside a closed room where there's not a fast and easy escape route.

- Okay, Kook. Since we're gonna share a room, you need to follow my rules.

- Rules?

- Number one, don't touch me. Number two, don't talk to me. And number three and most importantly, don't kill me

- Mmmm okay. Then I'll make some rules too! Number one, you can talk to me all you want. Number two, you can touch me anytime and anywhere. Number three, you can kill me but I'd prefer if you didn't

Kook shows a wide bunny smile satisfied with his rules making the other boy raise an eyebrow confused. Tae tries to understand but can't. Why did he look so excited while saying those ridiculous rules? Without turning his back on him since he's too scared to do so, Tae walks backwards towards his bed. As soon as he sits on it, he gasps.

He's used to sleeping on trees or over a pile of leaves but this? This is so soft and spongy! He starts to bounce on the bed and laughter comes out of him naturally. Like a kid finding a playground for the first time ever. The sound of his laugh and the view of him jumping up and down makes Kook bite his lip. He takes his own mattress with just one hand since it's not heavy enough for him, and offers it to Tae.

-...What?

- If you put mine on top of yours it'll probably bounce even more

- Hmmmm Okay but you stay there while I jump.

Kook accepts. He doesn't need to participate in that little game. All he wants is to see him enjoy it. Even if Tae doesn't want him near, they have no choice for a few months. This is making him happier than he was expecting. Ah, Kook never wants to go back to their planet now. He really doesn't wanna return because he knows when he does, he'll have to let him go...

Is it okay if I choose your name, big guy?

Okay, your turn. Tell me about those two

Chapter Text

Seokjin sighs once he's left alone in his work room. Well, "alone" isn't really the word. He still has one more alien to check on and it's the one hugging his back at the moment. Before he can say anything, he feels him pull away and sit on the chair extending his arm. He's ready for Jin to take out some blood with no complaints to give.

- You're the most obedient of the three, clearly. Is it okay if I choose your name, big guy?

Since he haven't talked at all, he's not sure how could the other choose one himself. Hell, if his name is as complicated as the ones the other two originally had, he rather skip over it. The alien touches his nose softly before smiling wide, showing his dimples that are too cute to be legal.

- I'll take that smile as a yes. Hmmm it should be something cute and lovely...so how about Joonie? I think it's adorable!

They seem to agree and so Jin finally begins with his exams. Unlike Tae or Kook who have their special and unique abilities, he doesn't seem to have any special power. His blood is white and shiny which is unexpected but not much more. It feels like he's different from the rest of the people on that planet. Either his species hides very well or he's the last one there.

Seokjin stops thinking about it when he sees him take the picture from his desk. It's the same one Tae used to change shapes and turn into the girl appearing on it. Jin loves that picture. It has him with his brother and his brother's girlfriend. Both of them left in that ship that never came back. He can see the way Joonie is staring at them and softly touches the photo with the tip of his fingers.

- That's my brother. Heechul. He's out here, somewhere...I would like to find him soon

The alien's eyes get glossy as he hugs the portrait against his chest.

- You wanna keep it? You can have it for now if you like it

He's not sure why the boy is having that reaction. But he doesn't look like he wants to let it go. Maybe he felt the sadness in his voice when he mentioned his brother? Is that it? He can't be sure. He's about to ask when someone knocks on the door. The familiar face makes the alien hide behind Jin's back again.

- I'm not gonna get closer because he already bit me once today. But dinner is ready

- Thanks Hobi, we'll go now

- If you can, try to sit him far from me. I rather go back home in one piece!

- Okay. And don't worry! I'll teach him to behave haha

- Yeah, yeah, whatever. Hey...you two look cute together!

Jin rolls his eyes. This sub-captain and Yoongi have an obsession with shipping people. Taking his lovely Joonie's hand, he guides him to the dinning room where everyone's gathered. He makes sure they both find seats slightly away from the people. At least until the alien can get used to them. While they wait for dinner to be served, they have their own private "conversation". For starters, Joonie points at the captain looking curious.

- Hmm? Ah yes, that's Park Jimin. He's the head of this mission.

Seeing the other frown, Seokjin tries to explain it better. It's true that Jimin doesn't look like a leader at first.

- I know he gives out this cold impression but I've seen him smile a few times! At least when he gets near Yoongi

Joonie looks even more confused now. He has no idea of the names these people have yet.

- Yoongi is the one sitting right next to him. The one with the cat energy.

Obviously, he has no idea what a cat is since there aren't any of them on his planet. But he can figure out who he's talking about when he sees Jimin smile at him. Immediately, he can recognize the way those two look at each other so he makes a hand gesture of a heart making Jin choke on his food. Who knows who taught him that when the alien's hearts have very different shapes.

- I mean... it's not official but... I'm pretty sure there's something going on between them. Especially from Yoongi's side.

For a moment he wants to stop himself from gossiping but seeing how interested Joonie is in this, he continues. He really should tell him all he knows about the crew since he'll spend the next few months with them. Maybe even years. For anyone else seeing them, it looks like Jin is talking non stop to a silent person. But the truth is, the other keeps answering with gestures or expressions making him laugh loudly.

- And then the one you bit today is Hobi. He's probably more afraid of you than you are of him. I mean, he's afraid of everything including bugs, heights and the future itself.

Those words help the other relax a little. He won't let his guard down completely but...at least he'll try not to attack him if he gets too close.

- Suran over there is Jimin's right hand. She's also a little cold but extremely smart! And you didn't hear it from me but rumor has it that she has a one sided love for someone.

He talks about everyone he knows on that table including every single useless information about them. And finally it's time to switch.

- Okay, your turn. Tell me about those two

Seeing how Jin makes a gesture towards Tae and Kook, the other tries to find a way to explain it. He takes some of the olive oil they were using for the salad and pours it in his glass of water. Clearly those two things don't mix.

- I understand, they're very different cultures. Kook is clearly a warrior so he must be...cold? He seems tough!

Joonie frown while touching his ear. He does not agree with that statement at all. Trying to get his point across he points at Kook and then at Jin's chest.

- Yeah, I know. He has huge pecs. And like a six pack too!

The aliens rolls his eyes and makes him a signal to look more carefully at the boy. There, Jin realizes that the incredible hunter that killed a gigantic animal using only a spear...is now stealing vegetables from people's plates to put them on Tae's one so the boy can have more to eat.

- A big heart...I guess he is a little...ugh, he's eating that meat using only his hands and teeth...He can be a little rough but clearly he has a sweet side.

Jin sees how satisfied the other is with his conclusion.

- And what about Tae? How is he?

Joonie takes Jin's glass of water and takes some of it with his fingers so he can wet his eyes. It looks like fake tears coming out of him.

- He's...sad?

For a second, he's about to touch his nose agreeing but then he thinks... that's not the right word. Tae can be a very happy person. Instead, he points his finger at one of the people in the crew that have a big scar on his leg.

- He's...what? Limping? Crooked? Hurt?

That's the word. He smiles touching his nose, this time satisfied with the conclusion.

- I checked on him today, he didn't seem hurt at al-

The hand touching his chest makes him understand. Tae isn't hurt on the outside. He turns to see Joonie.

- You know, it's fun talking with you. I mean "kinda talking" with you hahaha Maybe we should learn sign language! That could help! I'm pretty sure Yoongi knows some of it, he's always making a sign towards Jimin although I never asked what it meant hahaha

Thank God he didn't. Yoongi would die of embarrassment if he had to explain he secretly signs "I love you" to his best friend every now and then. And Joonie feels more than happy hearing Jin say that. He would like to communicate better as well. To be honest, he would like to talk and enjoy the moment. But sadly, letting his voice out would have terrible consequences...

Oh yes, "his" project is actually very interesting

Chapter Text

Yoongi spent the whole day memorizing that boring project his friend Kihyun wrote. The same one that gave him the opportunity to join this mission. He has no idea what most of it means. Especially all those long words and formulas. When dinner finally comes, he sits by Jimin's side and talks about it pretending to understand it. And Jimin...Oh, Jimin is having the time of his life

- I've always wanted to hear you talk about things like these.

- You do? Hahaha I could go all night! I could tell you the whole thing!

Jimin looks so excited to hear him, so invested in what he has to say. And Yoongi feels for the first time that Jimin is giving him the same attention he gives to his own work. His eyes shine and he never looks away. The only other moment when they have this connection is when he listens to his music in front of him. Yoongi really wishes he was smart. Maybe that way he could finally win over his heart.

Sadly, there's a lot more people in that ship that are a lot smarter than him. At least in the scientific ground. One of those people is Jimin's right hand. Suran, the girl known for being the second best of her class after the Captain sits on the other side of Yoongi. Being a close friend of the younger, she has no problem interrupting them.

- Can I join you two?

- Please, no

- Yes! Yoongi was just telling me about his job in this mission! It sounds amazing in theory

- Oh yes, "his" project is actually very interesting

For some reason she seems not to believe Yoongi's lie. Yet she doesn't try to challenge him on it.

- Thanks. I was just telling Jimin all about it. You can listen from over there if you want

- I read it already.

- Y-You did?

- We'll be lab partners, Min. Of course I did.

- Fucking hell

- And I think the idea of implementing a botanical intervention to induce hermaphroditism for optimized pollination dynamics in the tree population sounds amazing!

- I...Uuuh...Yeah!...I...agree?

Yoongi wonders if she's trying to make him look like an idiot every time she talks about the project. The words come out so naturally out her mouth, like they're not weird at all. But for him, he had to check on the notes Kihyun left him to understand at least the first part. Notes that the other named "Science for dummies like Min". With a friend like that Yoongi doesn't need enemies.

Suran knows so much about it, she ends up taking Jimin's attention as always. Is she really into him like some people say? They would make the perfect couple, that's for sure. Yoongi feels slightly defeated seeing it.

- Min? Are you listening?

- Eh? Ah, yes...what was the question?

- About the experiment you performed. The one with the different tree leaves

- Riiight, that part...Uuuuh...

He tries to remember where did he read that. There was probably some stupid term Kihyun used and now he can't remember. While he wonders if Suran is asking these questions on purpose, he thinks of a way to change the subject.

- You know, there's a song called Autumn Leaves that's really beautiful. And sad to be honest. But I...I don't know, you just reminded me of that haha

- Eh? - Suran is confused - A song?

- Yoongi. We promised we'd talk about work on dinner.

- Sorry haha...ha...

Suran is left slightly taken aback but she eventually returns to the conversation with Jimin. At least they move past the question Yoongi tried to avoid. Although now he's being bored to death with their talk. He only adds a few things when he remembers something new or when Suran asks him those annoying questions like this is an exam. He had no idea she would be so interested in this thing.

After dinner, they all go back to their rooms. Except for those in charge of the night shift to make sure they keep the right course. When Yoongi enters his room, he can't close the door behind him before someone else enters with him. He turns around to see his favorite thing in the whole world. Jimin's eye-smile.

- Are you tired? Can we listen to that song you mentioned back there?

- Autumn Leaves? Sure!

- What language is it?

- Korean. You'll love it. Here, I'll play it for you...

Yoongi finds it in his old phone and gives Jimin the earphones. The Captain was really having one of the best nights of his life. He got to talk about science, he spent time with his friend Suran and now he gets to listen to music with his boyf...his other friend! Jimin could fall asleep with music playing in his ears but he needs to go back to his room for that. However, by his side Yoongi is not ready to let him go.

- How are you feeling about all this, Captain?

- You really like calling me that, huh?

- I know you like hearing it.

- Hahaha true.... It's going great!

- That's not what I asked. Are you enjoying it? I've seen you a little stressed

- Well, my dream is to finish this mission with perfect results. And that takes a lot of effort

- Oh, really?

Yoongi holds his hand and guides towards his bedroom window. From there, they can see all the beautiful stars and galaxies close to them. Jimin looks out there enjoying the view. Meanwhile, Yoongi sees something even more beautiful. The boy by his side.

- I would've thought seeing this everyday was your actual dream, Jiminie

Jimin takes a deep breath, feeling relaxed like everytime he's near Yoongi. He's so used to rushing over to do everything that he sometimes forgets to enjoy the moment. And yet Yoongi is always there to remind him he can take a break and take in everything he achieves daily.

- ...What is your dream, Yoongi?

- You

- Hmm? What?

- I...I don't know yet - he lies - I have to think about it

- Well, if something comes to mind you can tell me. And if you ever need me, I'll be here to help you.

Jimin wants to give something back after all the effort Yoongi is making for him. Not only his constant support but...he really tried his best with that project! Truly, Yoongi's always been the best in many ways. But he tries not to think about it. At least not now that his heart skipped a beat seeing Yoongi's gummy smile.

The following day, Jimin is one of the first ones to wake up. With a smile on his face, he goes to meet up with Hoseok so they can confirm their route. And for some reason, they're not the only ones there. Seokjin is waiting in the meeting room making a coffee. Pretending like this is just a coincidence. By his side, a very sleepy Joonie is keeping him company as usual.

- I don't think we should make any changes to our plan. We avoid this part over here to be safe and we keep going.

- Okay. Perfect, Captain. Then I'll ju-

- Why are we avoiding that part?

Jin interrupts the conversation trying to sound natural. Like he just wants to ask a few random questions. Even though Jimin knows exactly what he's doing.

- Because that's where the last ship went. We're here to try new things. Not to repeat mistakes of the past.

- Right...But shouldn't we at least take a look? Maybe the planet that's there could be useful!

- Actually...- Hobi sighs - That planet stopped appearing on our radar a long time ago. If there's something there, it won't be much.

- We could still g-

- Seokjin. I'm the Captain here. You heard Hoseok. Whatever's left is in ruins if it's even there at all.

No matter how confident he is in his words, it's not enough to make Jin back down. The doctor comes closer standing face to face with his captain. Behind him, Joonie stares at the map touching the place where his old planet used to be...

- If we go there we could find the "Nam" my brother mentioned and save earth

- It's dangerous.

- True. We would need a Captain prepared for everything to go there. A really qualified one.

Hobi stares at the two men having a silent battle. One of them has to give up eventually. Jimin knows all that matter to Jin is to know what happened to his brother. And he's not interested in that. On the other hand... finding the "Nam" would be recognized worldwide...

- Hoseok.

- Yes, Captain

- Change of plans...

Chapter Text

Having two young aliens on board surrounded with things unknown to them is a recipe for disaster. Hoseok knew that from the very beginning. But there was no way to convince Jimin about it so now his routine got a lot messier. It's only a few hours after he had lunch, a busy day with so much to do. And when he goes to one of the bathrooms in the back of the ship his jaw falls in shock. He doesn't need more than a look to know who were the responsible, so his screams can be heard all over the ship.

- TAE! KOOK! HERE, NOW!

The two of them show up curious as to what they did this time. The last few days, they've been scolded enough to know what Hobi's tone means.

- Yes, Hobi?

- Can you tell me what the actual hell happened in this bathroom?!

- This place has the weirdest things we saw so far - Tae comments - I took a bite of the candy that smells like flowers and it was disgusting!

- You ate soap?!

- I don't know what that was but it was horrible! And the little bottle with Yoongi's name wasn't any better

- Thant's Yoongi's cologne! He made us promise we wouldn't touch it because it's Jimin's favorite!

- Well, it tasted terrible.

- And that's why you sliced the bottle in half?!

- That was actually me - Kook talks - Tae said it tasted like poison. You can't have poison in a place this easy to reach. What if Tae drinks it all?

He looks so panicked just thinking about it that it makes Hobi thank God that's the only bottle he broke. Although now everything smells like that stupid cologne. Through the minutes, they talk about every single thing they broke or messed around with. This isn't the first time at all. Just the day before they made a mess in the kitchen as well.

- God, I can't keep my eyes off you two. You have to clean all of this! But before that please take a bath, the cologne made you smell like Yoongi. And I don't think Jimin is gonna love that if he comes across any of you.

- Okay! Uhmmm Mister Hoseok?

- What?

- What's taking a bath?

Hoseok is shocked for a moment. How can they not know that? Of course after some talking he realized their cultures are slightly different than his. Tae for one side is used to take natural bath in the lake of his planet. His knowledge in the minerals of his earth allowed him to know how to wash his hair with no need of unnatural products. Kook on the other hand prefers to smell a little more like the animals he eats so they don't notice him during the hunting. He mostly uses hot water to help remove the dry blood after it and then dries by the fire.

- Okay, I'm sure that works for you back in your planet. But we don't really have a lake for any of you so you'll have to adapt to this for now, okay?

- Are you gonna help us?

Hoseok wants to explain how private a bath is but it's only a couple of seconds before both aliens get completely naked ready to be taught. Nudity isn't much of a tabu from where they're from. And considering Tae's body is just what he wants to make of it and Kook's been living with his shirt off most of the time, it makes sense.

With no time to lose, Hobi guides them to the bathtub and start filling it up with warm water. Not as hot as the one Kook is used to but not cold enough for him to freeze either. Sure, the two boys could take turns in doing this and actually that was the original idea. But as soon as Tae got in, Kook made sure to follow his lead not wanting to lose sight of him.

There's not much to explain and they have their own fun in there. Of course, Hobi has to stop them from making too much soap foam. And it takes a while for them to pull apart when Kook realizes how smooth his skin gets after using the soap. Tae doesn't really like getting near his enemy but he loves anything that's soft to the touch so he finds himself passing his hands through Kook's chest for several minutes. And of course the other doesn't complain even for a second. If anything, Hoseok never saw the boy smile so big in his life. Now that he thinks about it, he might be a big buffy guy but his bunny smile makes him look like a total softy.

- Okay, the shampoo and then we're done guys. I have to go back to work and I just wanna leave this room and NEVER talk about how I helped two aliens take a bath ever again. So! Here, you can use it to wash your hair

- Smells like flowers too!

- Don't eat it, Pak'thra

- Yeah, please don't. And also you should close your eyes when you use it, or it could hurt your eyes

- What?! I'm not gonna close my eyes with Kook in front of me! Are you crazy?!

Kook loses the smile he was holding and looks away for a moment. He doesn't look angry or sad. Just...guilty? Hoseok can't be sure why Tae is so afraid to be close to him some times. But he insists he'll be there to make sure nothing happens to him. Tae wants to trust the sub-captain. He closes his eyes and lets Hobi wash his hair. But being in the dark isn't something he enjoys. Fear consumes him little by little. What if Kook makes a fast move and kills him? What if he dies in the hands on a hunter? Just like his family did...

He opens his eyes, feeling his heart beat faster. Anxious to find himself in danger again. But Kook is still on the opposite side of the bathtub, staring at him with those big bambi eyes. As soon as they're done, they go back to their room. Tae gets on the bed ready to take a nap. He's emotionally exhausted after that short experience. His memories can drain his energy in under a minute. In his dreams, he sees it all again. The fire, the screams, the blood. And that hand that pulled him out of there. He can't remember the face. Only the red blood on his hurt body. When he wakes up, the first thing he sees is the soft look on Kook's eyes. The boy is next to him, sitting on the floor by the bed. Holding his hand with care

- W-What the hell are you doing, Kook?!

- You called me. You said my name.

- Don't be ridiculous! - He lets go - And don't lie to me!

- I'm not lying. And just so you know, I'm not gonna hurt you

- Yeah, right

Tae can't believe those words. And Kook does nothing else but to walk away from him, give him space. It's like he always knows what Tae needs to feel better. And most of the time is for him to be gone. Which is probably why he spent so many of his days watching Tae from afar. The ship lands on a new territory, making both of them leave the room to see if they can take a look around with the crew. Hobi is in charge of them as always and the permission is given.

- Okay, since it's a small planet you shouldn't get lost. Hell, it's actually just a part of what the planet used to be! We might see all of it in only a few hours!

Kook is the first one to go. He wants to make sure there's nothing dangerous out there. And if there is he wouldn't mind hunting it. Tae stays behind with Hobi and decides to have an honest talk.

- Do you think...Do you think it's safe to have him on board?

- Who? Kook? I mean, he's clearly a danger to cologne bottles but not much more

- I think he's trying to kill me!

- Tae, seriously? The other day I threw a banana at him and he didn't do anything to me. However today when your eyes were closed and I was washing your head, he gave me the most murderous look I've ever seen

- See! He could kill all of us!

- No, I think he just thought I was hurting you since you looked so scared. I really think all he wants is to protect you

- His species doesn't protect

- Maybe his species doesn't but he does.

Tae isn't sure how much sense that makes. It's true that Kook found a way to stay close to him for several days without hurting him not even a little bit. But he's not sure he could fully trust him to be sure. As they step foot in the new planet, Tae can't help to feel a familiar vibe coming from it. Something about it reminds him of his beloved Pari...

It looks absolutely destroyed, I wonder what it used to look like

If that's here then...my brother has to be here too!

Chapter Text

The ship lands safely and the crew gets ready to explore the old abandoned planet. As the Captain, Jimin divides them in groups and makes sure to be the first one to come out. In his room, Jin puts on his suit and give one to his favorite alien.

- You're coming with me, right Joonie?

He doesn't need a verbal answer when he sees him get ready. The big white suit looks adorable on him.

- We won't be long here since it's pretty small and we're just passing by. But with your help we can both look for clues!

His roommate doesn't really need much convincing. No matter how much it'll hurt, he wants to see what's left of his planet. A soon as he steps down from the ship, his eyes water. The place is not what it used to be. For some it would be unrecognizable but he knows it's the right planet. His home. The place where his species used to live. Until it all went to shit and he ended up being the last one left. As he tries to keep the tears from falling, Jin looks around amazed.

- It looks absolutely destroyed, I wonder what it used to look like

As always there's no answer. Together, they walk their way getting slightly separated from the rest. It's a small planet they shouldn't take more than a few hours in seeing all of it. At least the most accesible part.

- It looks so...natural. I'm sure humans would've loved this place.

Joonie smiles sadly. Of course they loved it. His species always took care of the nature that the humans destroyed on earth. That's why he also loves every single plant, flower or small animal. As they walk, the alien has that inner desire to find someone like him. But there's nothing left. Not alive at least. In his head he replays the way this place used to look like. All their plants, their music, their colors. A lost culture. He never thought he would be the last piece of it.

Jin can tell Joonie is acting weird. Sure, he's always quiet but there seems to be something else this time. There's a gloomy atmosphere around him, he walks slowly with little to no energy. All Jin can do is try to distract him from whatever his mind is thinking.

- My brother probably visited when it was still put together. He always wanted to explore space, help others, find a planet filled with life. A planet the humans could learn to take care of. I...I wish I could tell him how proud I am that he could find it. Even if neither him or this planet are still here.

Jin wasn't expecting an answer. But he's surprised to feel Joonie's arms wrap around him. He's holding onto him like his life depends on it. Like he's about to break apart.

- Joonie? What is it? Are you scared? I know it looks like a very quiet place and a little grey but it's really pretty if you look a little closer!

That only makes the alien cry a little harder while maintaining the strong hug. Only someone like Jin could see how beautiful this place used to be under all that destruction. A trace of what it used to be that will eventually disappear in time. He looks up and Jin cleans his tears softly.

- Don't cry, Joonie. I'm here for anything you need. We'll just walk a little more and then we'll head back, okay?

Namjoon takes a deep breath and after another minute he finally lets him go so they can go on their way. They keep a steady pace and Jin makes sure to check on him every few minutes. Suddenly, the boy stands still with wide eyes. Jin looks in the same direction than him, not knowing he's about to find the answer he's been looking for. And the one he's been avoiding. Even if it's been 10 years, it's impossible not to recognize the ship his brother left in.

- If that's here then...my brother has to be here too!

Half buried on the ground, the ship stands in front of him. Immediately, Jin calls for the rest. He knows he'll need help to open the door since it's not supposed to be open from the outside. Especially since it looks like it crashed there. It takes several minutes for Jimin and the rest to arrive at the place. The Captain has no doubt giving the order and several men force the door open. Close behind, Jin stares at it with hopeful eyes.

Jimin is the first one to enter followed by his sub-captain. Only then he signals for whoever wants to follow them to enter. And even though Jin is dying to go, his legs won't move. Because hope has a counterpart. He knows there's an answer inside that ship. But he needs the strength to face it. He takes a deep breath and feels a hand hold his softly. He turns and sees Joonie. The alien is avoiding his eyes but at least he's standing by his side for now.

- Thank you, Joonie. Let's go. I need to see this.

Chapter Text

There's no need to take more than a few steps into the ship to realize this will break their hearts. The walls have blood sprayed on them and there's more than one skeleton on the hallways. Jin pays attention to every single one of them. Each step he takes is worse than the one before. He can recognize some of the people on the floor. By their suits or name tags. Old friends of his brother. Of those that used to come home and play cards with him on friday nights.

Jin finally reaches his brother's room. Swallowing hard he opens the door slowly. Behind him, Joonie follows him calmly. He knows there's nothing to fear in that room. As he enters, Jin feels a wave of relief wash over him. The decorations are exactly like his brother liked having them. On his desk there's a picture of him and his family, together with one of the crew. And next to a pile of papers from work, there's something that makes Jin call for his Captain.

Jimin enters the room and his eyes open wide staring at the two plants on the desk. Big and beautiful. One of them is a light pink color and the other is deep red, darker than any other they've ever seen. Jimin touches one of the leaves carefully and his smile comes out immediately.

- How did he get these?

- They look exactly like some of the ones we had on earth years ago

Next to the plants, they each had an old picture of the versions they had on earth from many years before. Currently extinct or so they thought.

- Your brother was right... there's a way to save earth

To just think about that possibility makes Jimin excited. This could become the most successful mission the world's ever seen. And the beauty of those plants makes it hard to take his eyes away from them. In front of him, Jin can't help to feel his chest get filled with pride.

- I told you we had to come

- Fine. I owe you one, Seokjin. I'll go look for a team to search for the Nam. Even if they don't know what the hell that looks like.

- Sounds like a pla-

Jin's words are interrupted with a loud scream. Hoseok can sound desperate so easily. Everyone's first impulse is to run his way. Some thinking he'll need help. Others knowing he saw something he can't handle alone. There's only one person that stays behind. The white haired alien knows what they'll find and he doesn't want to see it. Not again.

Realizing he was left alone in that room, Joonie stares at the plants. They've grown more than he was expecting. But he can see one of them is starting to die a little. There's not enough sunlight coming through the window. That must be the reason. With the tip of his fingers he brushes over it and the plant starts to recover its strength, growing a little taller than before.

He walks out. More and more people are running past him to enter the main room. He stares their way but refuses to follow them. He would love to go and hold Jin in his arms. But he can't. He knows that if he sees that scene again he'll scream as well. And he can't do that. Not anymore.

Walking down the hallways he gets to the left part of the ship. On the side of the walls and growing bigger on the ceiling, there's a climbing plant. One of those that spread sticking to any surface they encounter. It has a delicate white color with pretty and tiny flowers. The closer he gets to the emergency exit, the more he can find. A mix of sadness and nostalgia runs through his body. Heechul loved those flowers...

He gets to the end of the hallway. It used to lead to a tiny ship, smaller than the rooms the crew had but big enough for some of them to use in case of an emergency. Of course, that tiny ship is not there anymore. He already used it last time. So he could escape the chaos and end up in Tae and Kook's planet. He was waiting to see nothing but the door. But he freezes when he sees the message written on it. In big letters, there's a short sentence written with the blood of those he used to love. A dark red that will hunt him forever. Staining some of the pretty white flowers.

"No one stays silent forever. Except this crew. Talk."

If he could throw up, he would. Instead, he falls to his knees feeling the world around him spin. To top it all, on the back of his head he can start to register the sounds coming from the main room. Jin's cries are so desperate as his were years ago. He knows he found him. He knows the adorable Jin that's been taking care of him lately finally had to accept the truth. He finally found his brother or what's left of him...

Whatever they had was clearly working

Jimin talks about me?!

Chapter Text

Jimin enters the meeting ready to get the updates on what they found. He knows the "Nam" wasn't here. Or so they think. It's not like they know how it looks like anyway. The room isn't that big and all the members of high rank are there to hear what Hoseok has to say. Of course, Seokjin didn't join them and the Captain can't blame him for it. He needs some time to process what he saw.

- We're done revising the bodies and we prepared to bury them in a few hours. The idea is to give them a respectful funeral

- Sounds good. Are all of them there? The whole crew?

- I went through the list and there were a few people missing. Considering the crash, it wouldn't be weird for their bodies to be somewhere unreachable for us right now

- They could've gone somewhere in the emergency capsule as well

Jimin can't believe he's saying that. Seeing Seokjin cry that way only made him feel bad. He wants to have some hope that someone survived. Just like Jin wished for ten years.

- There's no way of knowing, we couldn't find it anywhere.

Jimin isn't there to start an investigation and honestly he prefers not to. Whatever caused so many problems shouldn't affect their mission. This ship might be more modern but it doesn't mean it's ready for an attack. Especially not one like that.

- Captain, you should probably know the cause of death...

- Why that face? What was it?

- Well... Captain Heechul was shot. Just like four more members of the crew. And then the rest...I don't know how to put it

- If there was a crash I'm not surprised that th-

- Whatever killed them wasn't human for sure. Maybe the aliens that used to live here were bigger and more violent than we were thinking. They crushed bones and even split some people in half

Jimin feels a shiver run down his spine. Even Hobi's voice was shaking saying those words. These men used to be their idols, the people they admired and wanted to become one day. And to see how destiny treated them feels unfair to say the least.

After a minute of complete silence, Jimin takes the report. He'll make sure to file every detail so they can share it to their boss when they return to earth. There's not much more he can do right now. He tries to change the subject to the only good part of their discovery.

- What about the plants?

- There was only one pink. We found a lot more of the red ones. And half the fucking ship is covered in the white one. I think it's kinda invasive

- If there's one thing that should invade earth it's a plant.

- The red ones...they could turn into trees in a few more years.

- Whatever they had was clearly working

Jimin smiles. The red plants he saw there reminded him so much to the ones on earth. At least the ones he read about in old books. They'll make sure to take them back to their planet and if they're lucky enough they'll get them to reproduce.

- Yoongi will make sure to analyze them in the lab. And with his theory maybe he can get them to multiply!

All looks turn to Yoongi who swallows hard. He knew he eventually would have a responsibility like this. But he wasn't expecting it to be so soon and he can't help to slightly panic. At the same time, Jimin is looking at him with so much faith it's impossible not to smile.

- Uuuuh could I...get some help? I mean, so we can get results faster!

- Of course! Suran, you go with him

The woman nods calmly and the meeting is about to end. But checking his notes, Hoseok realizes he was forgetting something. That it might not be important but what's the point of keeping the information? His Captain should know everything.

- As we were inspecting the ship, we realized there's a tracer missing.

- Tracer?

- Back then they used to have them to check where the aliens who took our pill were. It would activate whenever they talked

- I see...

- If they took it, maybe they don't wanna be traced. And considering what they did I'm not surprised.

Jimin nods fully aware that something weird is happening here. And Hoseok might hate problems but his head is in the same place. They all decide to spend the night on this planet. Their emotions are still making most of the crew sensitive after what they saw and the best is to just rest. They need the time to process it.

Some can't help thinking of Jin. The only one that lost part of his family. Even though Jimin isn't that close to his own family himself, the bare thought of losing someone he adores scares him more than he was expecting. Losing Yoongi...he shouldn't think those things. They're not in danger. Or so they hope. Once the rest leave the room, Yoongi holds him by the shoulders softly helping him lose his tension.

- Things will be okay, Jiminie

- Yeah...And I'm sure you'll do great too!

- M-Me? Yeah hahaha totally!

- Don't worry, Suran will be a lot of help. You can guide her and she'll help your project come to life! She's incredible

- Not as much as you~

- I would love to help you but I'm pretty sure filing all these reports is gonna take a while

- It's okay. I prefer you to rest, pretty Captain

Jimin finds himself smiling again. There's an urge to turn around and stare at those cute cat-like eyes again. But he can't keep losing focus on his job. They part ways and Yoongi walks up to the lab. Standing by the door he can hear his new partner is waiting inside. Out of all the people in the world it had to be her. He enters only to see her work. Of course she started without him. She's always ahead of him in everything.

- Jimin said I should follow what you said. But if you don't mind I wanna do what I think it's best for this. Is that okay, Yoongi?

- You do you, I guess

As he was expecting, she's constantly making progress. Her results might not be enough to say this is a success since they'll have to work for weeks. But it's definitely showing good results! Yoongi on the other hand, keeps mixing the wrong things, reading Kihyun's project without getting it and making a mess more than once.

Suran doesn't make any bad comments about it. No matter how many times he fails, she just cleans the mess and continues her work. All of it with the same lack of expression. Yoongi can't help to feel useless next to her. He prefers working with Jimin. The boy would also be much better than him but he would always explain things for him. Even when Yoongi couldn't get a word, he loved hearing Jimin's invested voice and the way he would sometimes guide his hands to learn what to do next. A smile comes out of him unconsciously.

- You're distracted

- N-No, I'm not!

- You're thinking of Jimin, aren't you?

- How did you...whatever.

- "You shouldn't let a hot guy interfere with work". That's what Jimin always says

- Jimin says that? I don't think I've ever heard him pronounce those words

- He says it when he talks about you

- Jimin talks about me?!

Suran sighs and closes her eyes, thinking how to deal with him. She just told Yoongi not to get distracted and he immediately lost his focus. He wants to know what kind of things Jimin says about him but she doesn't answer. After all, they have work to do and it's not the time to gossip. Even though he tries to help, his mind is somewhere else. Jimin talks about him! Thinking back to the phrase his crush uses, he freezes for a second. Does Jimin think he's a distraction? And wait...does he think Yoongi's hot?!

See? We're really not that different!

I can't let you walk alone on an unknown planet

Chapter Text

Kook and Tae keep their distance from the humans. The gloomy atmosphere is the main reason why they think they shouldn't intervene right now. From afar, they stare at their funeral traditions. To them it all looks weird to say the least. None of them have ever seen something like this before.

- Who came up with the idea of burying them?

- It's their culture, Pak'thra. I'm sure even you and me have different rituals for things like these

- Of course we do. Your people burn the bodies like the psychos they are

His deep voice shows nothing but hate. The fire that he once found beautiful is now his biggest fear and the most horrible memory he ever had. All thanks to those living on the other half of his planet. Kook can see the way he tensed saying that and without making eye contact he gives him the lastest update about it.

- We don't burn them anymore

- You don't?

- Nope. Now we just cut them in half and leave them near the trees as an offering to Patra

- No offense but that's disgusting as shit

- You just say that because you don't like blood!

- I say it because the idea of cutting someone in half makes me wanna throw up!

- Mkay. And how about you? What do you guys do when someone dies?

- We lay them down next to their favorite tree

- That's it? Just like that?

- Excuse me for not wanting to cut our dead relatives in half, Kook

- Well...either way it's almost the same as what we do! See? We're really not that different!

Kook sounds excited saying it. He loves finding things in common with Tae. And at the end of the day, they both have cultures that offer what's left of the people they loved to the trees. Leaving nature and the white haired alien to take care of the rest. Opposite to him, the idea of sharing any point of view with him pisses Tae off. He doesn't want anything to do with someone from that side of the planet. Yet his curiosity gets the best of him and he decides to ask.

- Why did you stop burning them?

- Because I gave the order.

- You can give orders? Are you their leader or something?

- Hahaha of course not, Pak'thra! We don't have leaders there. We're a simple community! But...there are ranks based on-

- Let me guess. Strength? The strongest is also the most powerful?

- Are we that obvious?

- I didn't think you'd rank each other for your intelligence.

Kook ignores the subtle insult and tells him the story of how he got to give his people the order to stop burning the bodies. Changing a ritual isn't that simple. He had to do something worthy of the biggest social reward. In his case, he made sure to hunt the biggest and most dangerous creature they've ever encountered.

- I ended up pretty hurt. I slept for days and I even thought I was gonna die! But it didn't matter. I won. That creature was big enough to feed my whole family for a month. And I had the right to ask for anything!

He sounds excited telling the story and Tae looks at him up and down. It's true that Kook has several scars. Despite having a healing ability all of them are clear as day. Some of them look so painful, Tae's sure he would never survive them if he was on Kook's place.

- Why?

- Hmm?

- Why did you ask for something like that?

The correct answer? The one that's on Kook's mind? "For you". That's more than enough for him to risk his entire life.

- Because we were also burning our enemies. And that's not right. Besides, I don't want us to have enemies anymore

- Good luck with that

- There's no need for them! We can get along!

Tae frowns hearing it. "Need"? It's true that things haven't always been easy on their planet. Before, there were little plants and the animals were small. Their life span was shorter and as always nature only had one rule. The strongest one survives. While Tae's people preferred having a short and peaceful life, the ones living on the other side of the planet had no problem sacrificing others to survive. Frustrated, he tries to walk away at least for a moment but the footsteps behind him let him know he's being followed.

- Can you leave me alone for a second?

Usually, Kook would obey to avoid bothering him. Even if he would always keep an eye on him. But this particular time he has to refuse.

- I can't let you walk alone on an unknown planet!

- Why?

- This is new to all of us. It could be a dangerous place. Humans died here already

- So what? You're gonna pretend like you're worried about me? Is this a trick to kill me in my sleep?

- No! No, I...I would go crazy if something happened to you. I would kill whoever hurts you

-...You know, you try to sound sweet but it's kinda scary. You're threatening to kill imaginary enemies already. When you know the only ones that ever hurt me were your people

- I.... You're right, I'm sorry...

Kook looks down to the floor avoiding his eyes. He feels ashamed just thinking about it. Because he knows it's true. Tae doesn't fear the unknown. He fears those who already attacked him once. He fears him and he can't be sure that'll ever change. Tae sighs seeing how affected he looks.

- Are all your reactions tied to a violent feeling? Like getting angry or killing others?

- No...I know we are dangerous to you but...we really do feel other things as well.

- Mhm, like what?

- K'zhtar

Tae shouldn't laugh in a moment like this but he can't help it. He was not expecting him to pronounce such a complicated word like it's nothing. He could never do it in a million years.

- Hahahaha I'm sorry hahahaha go on

His eyes close and he tries not to think about it again so he doesn't laugh. In front of him, Kook shows the biggest bunny smile enjoying the way happiness looks on the boy he loves.

- It's okay. You can laugh all you want!

- N-No no hahaha what did you say Kaztar meant?

Kook doesn't make fun of his terrible way of saying the word. Instead he bites his lip thinking he has the prettiest way of speaking in the whole universe.

- It's a feeling of protecting someone no matter the cost

- Pfff I've never seen you guys protect anything!

- What makes you sa...Have you been watching us?

- Uh...maybe...sometimes...a little. Just to make sure you don't get near us again!

- I see...

Kook shows a nostalgic smile remembering the old days when Tae was just a kid spying on them for mere curiosity. After the last time he was in his territory he haven't seen him get near again. Although with time, there were more trees for Tae to hide. So he would love to hope that maybe he's been as interested in him as he is.

After talking some more about their differences and similarities, Hobi calls them inside. He looks tired enough from the meeting he had today so he hopes he doesn't have to deal with the two aliens fighting again. To his surprise, dinner passes by without any incident leaving him impressed to say the least. Maybe those two are starting to get along  a little better...

Did you ever have a family, Joonie?

You said you owed me one, Captain

Chapter Text

Jin finds himself sitting on the floor and crying as he stares out the huge window in his room. From there, the three moons of this planet look beautiful even on a night like this. He already spent the last hours at the funerals and stayed there until the last minute. Even after everyone else was gone. The only reason he returned to the ship was because the nights out there are a lot colder than he was expecting. Still, he can get himself to sleep at all. Not when he's so heartbroken. On top of his desk, Hoseok left him the report of what happened but he's not ready to read it. His emotions will get in the way.

He can't stop his tears. His eyes are puffy, his nose is red and all he wants is to sleep for the next three days. But he can't. The image of what he saw in that room keep popping up on his mind. And his brother's body on top of the transmitter...it only reminds him how he used his last words to send a hopeful message to earth. He knew no one was gonna save him but he wanted to save earth so bad. Jin feels the alien he shares room with sit by his side.

- You know, Joonie...Deep down I always knew. He promised me to go back. And he never broke a promise before. It was obvious...

A warm and comforting hug comes from his side. As always there's no words but the gesture is more than enough.

- And yet I...I had some hope. That maybe I'd get the chance to hug him again...

Once more, he starts crying. Namjoon holds him even closer and lets him rest his head on his shoulder. They stay quiet for a while. After several minutes, Jin talks again in a tired and broken voice. His throat still hurts from the scream and cries he let out this afternoon.

- Did you ever have a family, Joonie?

The alien touches his nose as a sign but Jin's not looking. So he decides to find a different way to answer. He leans forward towards the glass window and lets his breath out. That way he can draw on top of it with his fingers. He makes 5 dots one next to the other.

- You were five? You must've had a fun childhood with two siblings

Joonie lets go a sad smile remembering those times and how that home used to feel like.

- In my case we are fo...we were four.

Hearing the sadness in his voice, Joonie lifts his hand again. Softly, he erases most of the dots he made leaving only one left. Jin understands.

- Oh...I guess you're alone as well...

Once more, the alien leans forward and uses his breath to have more space to draw on. But instead of doing so himself, he takes Jin's hand and guides it towards the glass. The man lets that happen and sees how Joonie helps him make a dot next to the only one left. And the alien smiles softly, knowing he isn't alone if Jin's by his side.

- I'm glad I can make you feel less lonely. Thank you, Joonie...for being here with me...

They stare at each other's eyes and they get even closer to cuddle. For a few more hours they look out the window as Jin tells him stories about his brother. Some of them making himself laugh with the good memories and others making him cry. The alien listens to everything with a nostalgic feeling inside. He misses him to...

Eventually, they go to bed where they decide to sleep together. At least for tonight. And Jin discovers how comfortable it feels to rest his head on Joonie's chest. The alien's heart beats on a different rhythm than the human one. It's a melody that helps Jin relax for once. The next morning, he's the first one to wake up realizing they're no longer in that planet. The ship took off and they must've been really tired if neither noticed it.

Jin gets up slowly trying not to wake up his roommate and takes the report off his desk. He reads it after gathering the strength for it. A gunshot. That's what killed him. One that was perfect enough to give him an instant death. He leaves the room. After washing his face making sure to act like his life didn't fall apart yesterday, he heads towards Jimin's work room.

- Good morning, Captain.

As soon as he enters, he can see the boy didn't sleep well either. His desk is covered in all the reports and files he wrote by hand last night until early hours of the morning. Knowing that he made sure to write every single detail about what they found makes Jin have even more respect for him.

- Seokjin? If you came here to ask for a day off don't worry. You can take as many as you need. If any of the aliens on our ship get hurt we'll see how we deal with it.

- Thank you, Jimin.

The only reason he uses his name is because he's not thanking his boss. He's thanking the boy under the Captain title. He knows Jimin follows ever protocol and rule on the book. And Jin should get only 2 days off. Yet he assured him he could have longer than that. He might be an obedient boy that loves rules. But he's still a human and his empathy is a little stronger than he was expecting.

- Actually, I just wanted to know what direction we're going now

- We'll go back to the planned route

- Oh... couldn't we-

- I know what you're gonna ask for. But we're not on a murder investigation.

- Maybe the Nam is there

- Maybe. And I would love to find it. But it could be dangerous...

Jimin sounds tired. He's been thinking about it all night. A part of him wants to go and find that solution that the previous Captain mentioned before dying. But at the same time, they could get in trouble. Something could happen to them. Which means something could happen to Yoongi. He doesn't even wanna think about that.

- Please...When we found those plants you said you owed me one, Captain

Jimin stares at the little white flower he stole from the crashed ship and saved on his desk for now. Finding more of those would be ideal. He sighs.

- Fine. But this is the last time and the last place of those we'll visit. If something were to happen we have no way to defend ourselves. We're not an army.

Jin thanks him before leaving him alone again. He's willing to find the truth of what happened. Though he has no idea that the answer he needs is sleeping on his bed right now...

Next Chapter

I can stay with Yoongi for now...

I'm not as smart as you but I have other talents

Chapter Text

Despite working so many hours in a row, Jimin doesn't stop. He doesn't know how to. It's not the first time he loses time track. When he was younger, this used to happen a lot. He even got to the point of fainting for skipping meals or spending days with no sleep. If it wasn't because of Yoongi, his brain would've fried ages ago. His best friend took care of him a million times. More than he can count.

Jimin stares at all the papers on his desk. He's supposed to be done by now but he can always do a little more. "Just a little more" is the most dangerous phrase for him. A new song from his playlist starts to play and he stops writing.

- I already heard this one

He skips to the next one and the same thing happens. He heard it as well. He finally realizes he's heard the whole playlist 3 times in a row without taking a break. He once promised Yoongi he would stop everytime he heard all of them but...he was so focused today! He needed to make the best out of his energy! There's nothing wrong with it, right?

He gets up from his chair and heads out to see his best friend. Maybe he can get a new song. And he'll make sure to take a rest after that one plays at the end of his entire playlist.

- Min, you're doing it wrong

- You're the one that explained it! So it's technically your fault!

- I'll guide you, just follow me.

Jimin slowly opens the door of Yoongi's room where his personal lab is. The voices of Suran an Yoongi get louder as he enters and his eyes go wide seeing them. As they argue, Suran is standing behind his best friend guiding his moves. It almost looks like a hug. They're way too close for his liking. He doesn't even think of his own moves and pushes the door making it hit the desk so the other two notice him. While Yoongi smiles, she looks just as inexpressive as always and doesn't pull away from her partner.

- I see you two are still working. Maybe you should take a break, Suran

- And leave Min work on his own?

Not to be mean but honestly she wouldn't be surprised if Yoongi ends up making the lab explode by accident. She had forgotten what it was like to work with people with this little experience on the field.

- He won't be on his own. I can stay with Yoongi for now...

She opens her mouth to say something else but decides not to. She never went against the authorities and she won't start now. After a short goodbye she leaves them alone. Jimin was supposed to spend only a few minutes to look for a song but now he's compromised to spend hours here and ignore the things he was working on. Damn Min Yoongi, always distracting him from his duty and looking so adorable as he does so.

- I assume you made some progress these days, right? How are things going? Any results?

- Uuuh...see it for yourself!

Yoongi can't explain it with his own words so he knows it's better for Jimin to take his own conclusions. Most of the work was made by Suran while all he did was fuck it up a few times and help her with the math.

- I'm impressed! This is right on track for sure!

- It is? Y-Yeah! It totally is! Hahaha

- I guess now I could help you out a li...

A yawn makes him cut the last word. It'll be hard to focus being this tired but he'll try his best. Or at least that's what he thinks.

- How much did you sleep last night?

- Does it matter?

- Of course it does, you need to rest

- I'm the Captain, I ca-

- And that's why you need to stay strong and healthy

- Bu-

- No buts. Come, you can use my bed.

Jimin feels Yoongi softly holding his hips and guiding him towards the bed behind them. He can't stop thinking of all the times they've done this. How many times has Yoongi force him to rest? Always being able to find the limits of Jimin's body before he does. He's so focused on his own thoughts he doesn't even realize the bed is closer than expected. He falls back as soon as he hits it and his first impulse is to hold on to his friend's shirt, making him fall on top of him.

Yoongi's cheeks go red finding himself so close to him. And Jimin can't look anywhere that isn't his eyes. His hands are still holding onto his shirt. The young boy's words make Yoongi swallow hard.

- Ah, there's that feeling again

- F-Feeling?

- I feel so... comfortable? I would stop time if I could. Wouldn't you?

- I...No? I would like for the time to keep running and that we could spend it being uuuh...

- Comfortable

Close. Together. A million words come to Yoongi's head but he says none of them. He doesn't tell him he wants to spend his life by his side. He just gets a little closer, feeling their noses touch. If he leans forward a little more their lips will meet. And Jimin might be oblivious but something like that would be clear even for him. Before they can close the distance, Jimin yawns again.

- I'm sorry I keep doing that. I was supposed to help you work but I'm more tired than what I thought

His eyes fall shut again. He feels so good on that bed, with Yoongi's arms by his side and feeling his mint scented breath touch his lips. And the boy on top of him can't look away. Jimin looks like a fucking angel to him. He talks in a soft tone, trying to keep Jimin relaxed.

- I promise you I'll keep working on it as you sleep. So don't worry about me, okay?

Jimin smiles, keeping his eyes closed and gives him a small nod. Even if he has to get up, Yoongi stays there a few more seconds and gives him the only thing he can think of. A soft kiss on top of his head before getting up.

- Mmm sorry

- Eh? You're sorry? For being tired? You don't need to apologize for that. You can always come to my bed to sleep

- No that, just...I really doubted you when I first saw you here. I should trust you more

- Don't worry, Jiminie. You had your reasons. And I know I'm not as smart as you...but I have other talents. Now sleep.

A soft melody starts sounding. Jimin loves Yoongi's music to play as he sleeps. Even if he can't understand a single word of those songs, he enjoys every second of it. The next day when he wakes up, he finds Yoongi sleeping with his head on top of his desk. A part of him wanted to wake up next to him in that small bed for some reason. He can see the project had a small progress. Not as much as he was expecting but...he doesn't feel like complaining at all. He's in a good mood.

An idea comes to mind and he decides to play his personal playlist on the speakers. Everyone should have a taste of Yoongi's talent to work a little better. And he can't avoid that warm feeling that comes up every single time he thinks of Min Yoongi...

We got scolded because of you!

We choose one person to spend the rest of our lives with

Chapter Text

When Kook and Tae wake up, a strange melody is coming out of the speakers. Jimin made sure to play some of Yoongi's songs and they can't help but feel confused. Kook has the impulse to prepare for a fight with whoever walks through the door.

- What the hell are you doing?

- It could be an alarm. You could be in danger, Pak'thra

- Alarms don't sound this good, idiot

- Hi ki-

Hobi opened the door with a smile on his face that got erased when Kook jumped on top of him making him fall. Realizing it was him, he lets him get up. But it's safe to say the sub-captain got the scare of his life and had a small heart attack.

- I'll start knocking on the door

- Forgive my dumb roommate. He thinks the pretty sounds are an alarm

- Of course not! Our alarm is loud as fuck, you'll realize if it ever sounds. Also, this is just music! Yoongi's music from what I heard

- Music...

Both aliens stare at him with shiny eyes, waiting to get more information. But this is a busy day for him to start explaining such a cultural phenomenon. So instead, he decides to give them his cellphone and show them music videos. He's sure they can check them out on their own as he keeps working. They're near the next planet and he needs to have everything ready for then.

Of course both of them get immediately excited about it and stare at the videos enjoying every second of it. Together they try to imitate human's way of singing. And Kook could hear Tae try for the next thousand years.

- You're better than most humans, Pak'thra

- Maybe I should be a singer on earth! Oh! That one! Play that song again!

- This one? Really?

- I think it's my favorite!

- You know what that instrument sounds like? Like a mosquito dancing

- Hey! Someone tried really hard to make that song, don't disrespect it!

Even if Tae is trying to be mad...it really does sound like some of those giant mosquitos they have on their planet and he's trying his best not to laugh about it. But Kook can see the suppressed smile, the way his voice is shaking not to explode in laughter. Ah, he loves spending time with Tae.

- I bet I can do music too

- Yeah right, you can only destroy things. How are you gonna create something?

Kook accepts the challenge and takes Tae's hand to guide him towards the kitchen. Since there's still time before lunch, there's no one there and he can take whatever he wants. Using anything he can find, he makes his own drums.

- How did you come up with that so fast?!

- We have something like this on our side. We don't have the same rhythm humans do. But we use them whenever we have to do a rain ritual

- Hate to admit it but that actually sounds really cool

Kook smiles wide hearing his crush say something nice about his culture for once. It might not happen again in a while so he extremely enjoys it. To top it all, he plays a song for him. He's not the best drummer in the world but he's definitely the loudest. While Tae laughs his ass off hearing the lack of rhythm, Hobi is forced to stop them before Jimin's mood gets ruined with the annoying messy sounds.

It's safe to say Hoseok takes them back to their room and takes back his phone with him. Once more, the aliens are left alone and bored.

- Damn it! We got scolded because of you!

- Hey, you wanted to hear music! I just wanted to make some for you

- If you can call that music hahaha you should ask the humans about it

- It comes naturally. I saw it happen. I've heard real music

- Yeah, right. When?

- Every time I hear your voice.

Tae has a hard time thinking of an answer to that. No one ever said his voice was musical. To be honest, no one treated him the way Kook does. Like he's really doing it all to make him happy. But he needs some time to process that, to think about it. Just in time and looking like a perfect distraction, Min Yoongi walks past the door. Tae immediately calls him trying to get out of the uncomfortable silence.

- Yoongi Hyung! Come here!

- Hey, little ones! How are you guys enjoying the trip?

- We were having fun but Hobi took away the phone and we can't watch music videos anymore

- What?! There's nothing better than finding new music and watching music videos for the first time! Here, you can have mine!

Unlike Hobi, he doesn't get the videos ready. He just hands them the phone trusting they know how to use it. Big mistake. Kook and Tae spend their entire afternoon finding everything he has saved there. Including the cute selfies, his chat with Jimin and an app where he seems to...write?

- What the hell is a fanfiction, Pak'thra?

- I don't kn...Wow, look! Hyung is writing a romance about him and Jimin!

- Awww...I wanna read it!

Tae can't stay behind and they decide to read the stories together. Over and over again, they read different stories where Yoongi and Jimin fall in love. In different universes but always with a happy ending. Yoongi never had the heart to write a sad story. He would get depressed for weeks if he did. And while Tae enjoys the stories, Kook takes notes of the romantic gestures appearing on them.

"When they tripped, Yoongi fell on top of Jimin. So close, their noses touch and their eyes can't look anywhere else. There, Yoongi finally has the courage to lean forward. Taking the lips of the boy he's been in love with for the last 10 years"

-  Aaaaaaahdjdkksuaja

- Hahahaha What the hell was that sound?

- I'm just so excited! Aren't you, Kook? They finally kissed! When's the next chapter coming out? I need to know Jimin's reaction

- Cute. I wasn't expecting you to be so romantic, Pak'thra. I thought your people were... different

- Says the one with the family of psycho killers

- Hey! I was just saying it because you guys are always changing partners and stuff like that

- Well, yeah. We don't usually have less than 4 or 5 partners. But I'll admit this story is tempting me to get a special one

- Excellent.

- And you? How are you people, Kook?

- We choose one person to spend the rest of our lives with

- Just one?! How the hell do you pick?!

- It's not easy. It's not magical either. Sometimes you get confused or give up but then...then you meet someone who you know will make your life better, more fun, more...unique.

Tae can see the way his eyes shine and his smile appears again. Always staring back at him. And he tries not to panic as he thinks... he's technically going through the most fun and unique moments of his life right now. With the alien in front of him. Even if he's supposed to be his biggest enemy...

Who taught you how to play cards like that?

We finally reached our new destination!

Chapter Text

Without having anything else to do, Jin and his cute alien roommate walk around the ship. They're on the way to the new planet and even though they'll get there soon they still have some time to spend. And to be honest, Jin would love to get distracted with anything at this point. When they get to the main room, they find part of the crew playing cards. Immediately, Joonie runs up to them and sits by their side wanting to play.

- Uh....should we let him join?

- I mean...he looks excited, Hobi. We'll teach him!

- Okay. So what we do here is-

He can't even end the sentence before the alien takes the cards to shuffle them so professionally the rest lose speech. He's incredibly good at it and he only stops to turn around and look at Jin. It's clearly an invitation to join as well and he could never refuse. He loves playing cards!

- Okay! Let's make teams!

Of course Jin makes a team with the alien. And for some reason he doesn't even have to explain the rules! This game is played often in his particular city on earth. Yet Joonie plays it like a professional. Not only he seems to know every single rule but he even knows the signals players use to help his teammates! Things like winking an eye when you get a good hand, or touching your shoulder when it's terrible. Or most importantly, touching his ear for "no" and his nose for "yes".

Of course they win every round and while it's Hobi's turn to shuffle the cards, Jin leans over to ask Joonie about it. This is not something he can ignore so easily after all.

- Who taught you how to play cards like that?

Jin asks with shiny eyes. He used to play very often with his brother when he was young. And he felt the same perfect connection while playing with Joonie. But of course he gets no answer and a bright blue light makes all of them quit the game. That can only mean one thing. Jimin enters the room ready to give them orders.

- It's time to land. We finally reached our new destination!

Of course the landing takes several minutes. Unlike the last planet, this one has a very unstable territory. Joonie looks out through the ship's glass and a shiver runs down his spine. Fear takes over his body remembering that place. Seeing how Jin is getting ready to go with the crew, he runs up to him and hugs him from the back.

- Joonie? I'll hug you in a minute but I need to put on my suit first so I can go!

He holds him even tighter after hearing those words. He doesn't want Jin to walk out there. Even hell would be better than this fucking planet. He knows first hand what they could find out there. Seeing he's not letting him go, Jin turns around to face him still in his arms. How comfortable it is to feel Joonie's big arms wrapped around him. It's weird to ask him to stop.

- Hey, I know this looks very different to the place where you came from. But it can't be that bad. And if it is, I'll be there with you. Or if you wanna stay, I promise I'll come back.

No. Letting him go on his own is not an option for the alien. He decides to put on a suit himself and go with him. Jin holds his hand as they walk out. He's glad to know he's not alone in this. He needs to go even if he also feels somehow uncomfortable with this place. Anything that can give him a clue about his brother is good for him. He'll get to the end of that mystery and he'll do it with the alien by his side.

The darkness around is easily explained since the moons and suns only come out every few weeks on this planet. There's no trees or plants here. It's not easy to describe their surroundings since it's hard to see at all. Jin feels the tight hold on his hand making him turn. Joonie tries his best to show him they're on a dangerous place but the lack of words makes it impossible. Jin simply believes he's nervous in a new planet.

- Don't be scared, Joonie. It's cold and dark but who knows what we'll find!

Thinking of finding anything or anyone seems to be the problem. One they can't avoid. After an hour of walking with the flashlights showing the way, they get to the center. There, they finally come across some new aliens. They look absolutely different to the rest. They're bigger than a regular human. With four arms so big they could crush their bones with no effort. They walk slowly, with their backs hunched over and their eyes almost completely white. Jin takes his own conclusions seeing their movements and the way they act around them.

- Is it me or do they look...kind of stupid?

Joonie touches his nose automatically. And now he can finally understand what he means with it. At least on that they agree. However...

- That's...that's good! They must be harmless!

Jin can't take a single step before he gets pulled back. His eyes meet the ones of his favorite alien. In the middle of the dark he can tell they don't agree on that. Because Joonie in front of him knows exactly what those creatures are capable of. Just like Jin's brother did...

Chapter Text

Jimin takes the lead as soon as they find the new group of aliens on what seems to be the capital of this part of the planet. Since he's the Captain, he's in charge of keeping a calm communication with the leaders of the places they visit. When the creatures notice their presence, they stand still for a few seconds. They signal between them until one of them finally approaches Jimin to guide him. It seems like they know exactly how to act with humans which Jimin sees as an advantage.

- I'll go talk with their leader, you guys can stay around and see if you find anything interesting. Remember to be respectful with them and their environment, understood?

- Yes, Captain!

The boy can only take a few steps forward before someone stops him. Behind him, Yoongi seems suspicious and doesn't want to let him go.

- He's gonna leave me behind, Yoongi. We'll talk later

- Don't go

- Are you crazy? It's my job!

- I can see their body language, the way they move, they-

- Yoongi. We have pills to understand them. Making up conclusions based on body language is what society used to do when they had no technology

- No, Jimin you have to believe me! There's something strange going on, I can see it.

Jimin frowns and lets go before taking a deep breath. With a firm tone he talks one more time before walking away.

- You don't need to interfere in my decisions. I've trained all my life for this. Trust me, I can handle it.

Frustrated, Yoongi can't just watch him leave. So trying to be as subtle as possible, he decides to follow them. Jimin is being taken to a small place made entirely out of rocks piled up on top of each other. There's a few small holes through which the air can enter. Before getting closer, the pale man feels a hand on his shoulder. Scared to death he turns around only to find a familiar face.

- Joonie... you're thinking the same as me, right?

The alien touches his nose and Yoongi takes it immediately as a 'yes'. Together, they try to spy through the holes but none of them are big enough to see what's happening inside. Thankfully, the alien looks up and shows Yoongi a hole on top of the place big enough for them to see everything. With a lot of effort, they manage to climb up there and look inside. Even though Yoongi knows he won't get a verbal answer from his partner, he still talks to him.

- Look at them. Their movements seem abrupt but they follow a pattern. They're more coherent than it looks. They might be a lot more primitive than what we're used to but they're definitely communicating

Both of them see one of the creatures close the stone door with ease. Like it doesn't weight at least a hundred pounds.

- They're strong as fuck. Maybe they're the ones that attacked the old ship

Namjoon touches his nose again. The only thing illuminating the room under them are a few torches on the wall. And even with them everything seems pretty dark. In the middle of the room there's a table where the leaders are sitting across the Captain. Jimin tries to offer them the pills but they're not taking them.

- How are things going down there?

Yoongi almost gets a heart attack hearing that voice next to him. If it wasn't because Joonie holds him, he would've fallen several meters down. Next to them, Kook stares at them waiting for an answer and acting like he's been there the whole time.

- When the hell did you get up here?!

- Back in my planet I had to be silent not to scare the animals. And not to scare him...

- Are you here because you also noticed something weird about them?

- As a hunter, I can recognize a predator when I see one.

- Well, at least I feel a little less crazy with you two here

- I left Hobi in charge of protecting my Pak'thra for now. If these are the leaders I wanna see if they give the order to attack

Paying attention to the aliens under them, they see one of them take a detour. Kook can see his intentions almost instantly. The creature takes a rock half his size with no effort and starts walking towards Jimin.

- He's gonna kill the Captain

Kook sounds so certain that Yoongi can do nothing but panic. In under a second he finds himself screaming desperately down the hole to the love of his life.

- Babe! Look out!

Jimin looks up, upset. He gave them an order, why are they disobeying him?

- What the hell are you doing up there?! They'll think you're a threat, you idiot!

- Behi-

- There's no time, Yoongi. Let's take a shortcut

Kook acts on his first impulse, breaking part of the roof and jumping inside taking Yoongi with him. The alien is ready to fight whoever stands in his way so he can run out and look for Tae. Meanwhile, Yoongi pulls Jimin away from that table. The Captain is about to complain until he sees a huge rock fall next to him. If it wasn't for Yoongi he would've died. Understanding the situation, he takes Yoongi's hand and runs behind Kook

- Let's go, back to the ship!

Kook helps them for the first half of the way until he needs to split ways to look for Tae. Jimin repeats his order several times to make sure his whole crew listens. Suddenly, he feels his friend letting his hand go.

- Yoongi?

As he turns around, he finds one of the creatures holding Yoongi's arm with so much strength he could rip it off any second. Desperate, Jimin looks around finding a sharp stone. He takes it and jumps on the alien, stabbing one of his eyes with it. In pain, the alien lets him go allowing Jimin to take Yoongi's hand again and run even faster until they reach the ship.

- Make sure everyone can make it back inside! I don't wanna lose anyone out there!

The crew obeys, making light signals for the rest to find the way to the ship easily. Jimin feels a warm liquid running down his hand. As he looks down, he sees Yoongi's arm is starting to bleed. With anger in his voice and tears in his eyes, he screams towards his best friend unable to control his words.

- What were you doing up there, Yoongi?! You almost got killed!

- So did you! I told you there was something off!

- But I'm your Captain and I told you to-

- You're Jimin! My Jimin! Captain or not, I'm not gonna let you be in danger! I know I can't fight but you can't face everything alone. I'm not gonna let you do that.

Jimin wants to cry seeing how confident he sounds, not caring about his own scars. He turns around to give a few more instructions.

- Once everyone's here, check there's no intruders inside and...and don't let anyone stay alone for now...

Yoongi shows him a faint smile as the other drags him towards the infirmary. He leaves him with Suran to make sure they wait together until Jin returns to the ship. Frustrated, he goes back to his position ready to guide everyone to leave this planet. His heart is only now starting to calm. For the first time he felt real fear and he only felt better when Yoongi returned to his side. He never wants to feel that again...

You'll need more than some backup to beat me

He's losing a lot of blood!

Chapter Text

Kook runs through the dark territory trying to figure out the right way back. His eyes can barely adapt to the lack of light so he wouldn't be surprised if he fell. If he wasn't so agile that would've happened a while ago anyway. Clearly, the rest of the creatures on this planet don't have that problem. They don't need light to follow him up close. Knowing he can't get away that easily, Kook decides to fight.

- Fhzt'ar h'k prkham

His words are nothing but a ritual before having a fair fight. It's a promise to fight with honor. And to die with it if it's necessary. Five creatures fight against him. More than one gets to hurt him but their huge size makes them slower. They might be strong but they're not like him. He grew up learning how to fight, how to hunt, how to kill.

After killing four of them, he eyes search for the last one. He can't see him but he gets to hear his steps. He's running away. Somewhere far from the ship. He would let him go if it wasn't because they don't seem like the type to do that. There must some hidden intentions. Just in case, he decides to follow him. Hoping with his whole heart that Tae can wait for him a little longer.

- What the hell is he doing?

The creature stands in front of a machine that looks like it was made by humans. It reminds him of the ship they found last time they landed. It seems a lot more rustic than what he would expect from a human creation. The alien in front of him touches a big red button on the middle and a voice comes out. Not as clear as expected but with an obvious message.

*Assist-ance on-- the wa-y-*

The creature turns hearing Kook scoff. The fight will be intense and they know it. But they're both ready.

- You'll need more than some backup to beat me

The other doesn't understand his words. He never took the pill. He has no idea and he doesn't care what he has to say. The fight takes its time, they're both strong opponents. Since Kook enjoys fighting more than anything, he makes the best out of every second of it. They both hurt each other and they both resist. Neither of them minds taking their time on a fair fight. Until someone screams not that far from there.

- Help! Someone! Please!

Kook immediately reacts, taking a part of that strange communications machine and stabbing the creature with it. He doesn't agree to use other weapons in a fair fight. But he can recognize the voice calling for help. If Hoseok is calling, that means Tae is also in danger. He runs towards them, following the sub-captain's voice.

When he finally sees them, his blood boils. Hobi and Tae are surrounded by enemies. Usually, he attacks with a calm mind following his rituals. Fighting is part of his life. But as soon as he sees Tae's blue blood running down his arm he acts without thinking. He kills whoever gets in the way between them with no care, ignoring his entire beliefs.

Even when being hurt, Tae can't help being terrified of Kook. As soon as he sees him get to him, he steps back. Seeing him covered in the other creature's blood only makes his body shiver. Kook doesn't care if he's scared, he needs to heal him. He pulls him close touching his wounds, letting Tae's blue blood stain his clothes and hands.

- He's losing a lot of blood! We have to take him back to the ship, Kook!

- Guide me.

Kook carries Tae on his back and they run back to the ship. On the way, he feels how Tae loses his strength. He lost consciousness. When they get there, they wait for Jin to come back so he can check on him. It doesn't take much longer for the doctor to arrive. Seokjin works with his entire focus on the green haired alien. He's always been a professional.

- You healed him, he's not hurt anymore

- Then why won't he wake up?! I want him awake!

- His body is weak, he lost a lot of blood

- Then fix it!

- Kook, for doing a blood transfusion we'd need blood that can match his

Kook stares at his soulmate. His skin lost its color, the wound on his chest was small and he managed to heal it but...Tae is too fragile. That could've killed him. He should've been there with him sooner. He should've hurried.

- I'm a match

- We don't know if-

- I know. Tell him, Patra. You know it too

Jin turns to look at Joonie who confidently touches his nose. How can he know they're a match? He has no time to ask. He decides to trust the two aliens insisting on it and the transfusion starts. It takes a little longer than an hour and Tae never wakes up from his sleep. By the end of it, they take him to his room where Kook holds him close so they can rest.

There's something going on outside their room, something bad. The movements of the ship and the noises make Kook well aware of how complicated things got. But he doesn't care. His priority is in his arms, nowhere else. If an enemy enters the room he'll take care of it. If not, he won't move at all.

Tae seems to be dreaming since he keeps mumbling words and making various expressions. Whatever it is that keeps going through his head, it doesn't keep him from holding Kook's shirt firmly. In the middle of the night, his eyes open for a few seconds. He stares at Kook and pulls him closer. It's the first time he doesn't even try to push him away. The complete opposite.

- Don't leave me again...

- Never. I'll forever stay with you, my Pak'thra

As Tae closes his eyes once more, Kook hears him whisper a name. His name. Not the one he chose with the humans but the real one. So maybe...maybe Tae can still remember him...

What do they want from you, Joonie?

You... You're the Nam...

Chapter Text

Everything happened too fast for Jin. A minute ago he was discovering this new planet with Joonie by his side. But as soon as they found these creatures, the alien pulled away from him to investigate on his own. At first he didn't mind. It's okay, Joonie doesn't need to be next to him 24/7. But now that they're under attack, not knowing where he is makes his heartbeat accelerate with anxiety.

Around him, the crew is running back to the ship desperate to get away from the violence. Jin looks around but can't find Joonie which should be easy since he's only tall guy with big chest a white hair. Trying to be as sneaky as possible, he walks around the dark trying to find him. And his eyes go wide when he finally sees him, surrounded by those creatures being...captured?

Joonie is being tied by his hands almost carefully. Not that they know how to do things in a delicate way but it seems like they don't want to hurt him. Or at least not yet. And the terror on Joonie's face makes Jin's stomach drop. One of the creatures looks his way making the human panic but for some reason he can't see him. His white let him know the reason. They must be at least partly blind. In a place like this it would be strange to have a good vision.

Following his own conclusions, he throws a rock away from them and just as expected they all look towards the sound. As they get distracted with it, Joonie has the chance to escape. With his hands still tied, he runs next to his human friend and they don't stop until they reach to ship. Only then Jin pulls him in for a hug

- God, I was scared to death! I thought you were dead when I couldn't find you!

The alien is shaking letting himself be hugged. He got lucky, he wasn't gonna die. It was gonna be a lot worse.

- I don't understand. What do they want from you, Joonie? Why were they taking you away from us?

Joonie finally pulls away and shows him his hands. Jin assumes he wants him to untie them so he does. However, even after he's done the other seems to insists.

- They want...you hands?

The alien touches his nose. Before Jin can make a comment, he's being called to his work room. He needs to help those who ended up hurt. Tae wasn't the only one who needed his help, several were injured and needed to go back to work as soon as possible. As he tries his best to help, the ship keeps moving making it hard to keep balance.

- Why the hell are we moving so much?!

- We're under attack, Doctor

- But we already took off!

- It's not them. Someone else came to help them, they got backup!

- Backup? Like...space pirates?

- Most likely. We've been trying to avoid confrontation and escape

Jin sighs frustrated. As the minutes go by, the atmosphere starts to calm. Jimin was able to direct a perfect escape so they're safe. At least for now. Jin wonders if this is the kind of stress his brother went through before dying. After making sure everyone gets his medical help, he holds Joonie's hand to go back to their room together. Even if it's time to sleep and rest, he can't. His head keeps spinning with questions. Well, he's not the only one anxious to sleep in this ship but he's the only one Joonie cares about. The alien listens to the way Jin to talks to himself as he walks from one side of the room to the other.

- I don't understand it. Why is this happening? We went in so peacefully. I know Jimin is cold but he's a good leader, he wouldn't piss them off. Not even accidentally.

Jonie knows perfectly the captain has nothing to do with the attack. It was meant to happen no matter what they did.

- I'm sure it was them. They did this to my brother as well. But why? Why?

He's not looking for a rational response. Just something that can be good enough to convince him. He just want to give a reason to his brother's death. Something more than "violent aliens". There has to be something behind it. He refuses to believe his death was meaningless. Tired, he leans back supporting his hands on his desk.

- I can't understand...

He's holding in some tears. Joonie looks at him first and then at the picture on his desk. The one where Jin's brother Heechul appears smiling wide. The alien looks down at his own hands. He should show Jin the truth. He should show him what he promised to hide forever. He owes him his honesty.

- Joonie? Sorry, I'm keeping you awake. You want me to turn off the lights?

He doesn't answer, obviously. Instead he takes the little sample of Kook's blood from Jin's desk. Pouring some over the furniture he makes Jin confused. Until he touches it...

- What are you...

The words die in his mouth as he sees a few leafs apear and rise from the blood. Soon enough, all that liquid turns into a beautiful and shiny red plant. One that looks exactly like the trees they found on Kook's forest.

- How...How did you do that?

Seeing his confusion, he bites his own finger making it bleed. That white blood as pretty as always turns almost instantly in a beautiful white plant that grown enough to take over the desk itself.

- You... You're the Nam...

Joonie finally touches his nose looking at his creations. It's been so long since he did this in front of a human.

- Is "Nam" your name? Is that what my brother called you?

The aliens lifts his finger one more time to touch his nose but Jin slaps it away. The sudden movement makes Joonie look up at him, scared.

- Fucking talk! You've seen me look for my brother, for all these answers you had. And you didn't say a word?! Not even now?!

There's only silence coming out of the alien in front of him. Frustration takes over Jin. All these years and now that the answer is in front of him he has no way to talk with him. Nam met his brother. The plant of his blood was all over the old ship. He used the emergency exit to escape and left the past crew behind. He knows everything that happened to his brother. And yet he has no way of knowing the truth he was desperately looking for...

Chapter Text

It took Jimin more than he was expecting to escape their new enemies. The ship chasing them seemed to be run by someone who was dying to get them at all costs. But why? They're merely an investigation team! They have nothing valuable on board.

Despite being safe for now, the entire crew stays alert. The attack damaged their ship and they have to keep a lower speed until they can get it fixed. More than one is praying this won't lead to their enemies finding them. It won't be that easy running away a second time.

Jimin is terrified on the inside, his head is filled with thoughts about what a failure this whole thing might be. He wasn't supposed to let his crew get in danger and his ship get attacked. What is people gonna say when they return? He knew something like this could happen but not so soon into his trip. He didn't feel ready. He was supposed to be but he actually felt scared.

- Captain.

Jimin turns, not wanting another problem. But as soon as he sees Jin, his mind hurries to talk about the only person he truly cares about.

- What is it? Is Yoongi okay? Is his arm-

- Min's fine. He's not the problem

- Then what is it? I don't have time for anything less than "extra-important"

Almost admitting how important his best friend is that he could put his work aside for him, he waits for Jin's answer. The doctor looks serious and even mad. Whoever made him angry really got on his nerves.

- Believe me, you don't wanna miss this.

He sounds mysterious. Like he doesn't wanna show this to everyone. And his tired and frustrated expression is hard to hide. Deciding to follow him instead of asking any questions, he lets him guide him to Joonie's room.

- Show him.

Seokjin's voice sounds extremely serious and the alien keeps avoiding his eyes while showing a sad expression on his face. With some doubts but wanting to trust Jin, the alien shows the young Captain what he can do. As soon as he sees the plant grow almost on its own in front of him, Jimin's eyes go wide.

- He can...create plants?

Jimin looks almost hypnotized by the beautiful creations. He didn't think he'd get to see more of these so soon. Jin guides him to the other plants and flowers on his desk. The ones made with Joonie's blood as well as Kook's. Jimin smiles wide finding himself almost surrounded by them. Of course, Jin allows him to take them to the lab for Suran and Yoongi to see. As he enters, he can see the way she's checking on his friend's arm carefully.

- I already told you. It doesn't hurt

- I'm just making sure Kim did this okay

- Jin is a good doctor. He's really- Ouch!

Suran is about to apologize when Jimin makes sure to clear his throat loud enough for them to hear. They both turn to see him carrying some plants on his hands. She stares at them with shiny eyes and helps him place them on the desk.

- More? Where did you get those?

- Nam made them

- We have the Nam?!

- You two can work on your projects with these, right? We can get more! And if you advance enough we can even head back home!

Not dealing with a damaged ship for the next 10 years would also be relieving. In less than a second, Suran gets to work.

She is after all a passionate woman. The captain gets closer to his lovely Yoongi, softly touching his arm with his fingertips. Just feeling that touch is enough for Yoongi's heart to go crazy. In his head, his thoughts go out of control. "If Suran wasn't here, I would kiss him", he thinks.

- I'll do it for you, Yoongi.

- E-eh?

- You can just give me the instructions and I'll do it in your place so your arm rests!

- T-There's no need. You can go do something else and I'll work here! I'm okay!

He doesn't really love the idea of Jimin seeing how slowly he actually works. But the short boy isn't giving in.

- When you first joined I was skeptical. Let me show you I trust you, guide me

Yoongi tries to control his panic and convince himself he can handle this. He prays on the inside for God to let him keep his act. But praying won't be enough. As the hours go by and the failures multiply, the environment gets more and more tense. The only one that keeps breaking through with her work is Suran. And whenever Jimin uses his own ideas things move on. But Yoongi...he keeps setting it all back. He takes the project in his hands trying to understand a word of it, to get an idea of what he has to do. And Jimin start to let his frustration out.

- How can you not know this?!

- It's not that easy!

- You're the one that wrote about it!

- Well, I need to re-read what I wrote!

Jimin makes an effort to swallow his words. He knows how easy it is for him to cross a limit. And he's about to raise his voice at the only person he doesn't ever want to hurt. Yoongi is just as tired as him, he should be more comprehensive. At least that's what he says to himself while trying to push down all the curses bottling up in his throat. They spent hours working and the advance on Yoongi's end is extremely slow.

Jimin decides the best thing for him to do is to get out of the room for a minute. Get some fresh air, clear his mind. He stands near the back window of the ship with his eyes focused on the stars and galaxies surrounding them. Thankfully there's no enemies on sight. From the corner of his eye he can see the damaged engine of the ship. That surprise attack was hard to handle. Especially since he wasn't expecting it and he never thought he'd have to face such violence. He's here for the science, this is really not his strength.

- God, what did I get into...

What made him think he could handle all this stress? His muscles are tense, his eyes are tired and his brain is still thinking about work even now. He hears a few steps behind him and can immediately tell it's Yoongi coming to get him.

- If you want me in a better mood, you should go back to work

- There's nothing else I can do in there

- Yoongi... I'm sorry, I know I get exasperating too fast. This is important to me. But please don't be discouraged. I know you can do it. Together we-

- I didn't write that project

Jimin's whole body freezes after hearing those words. Staring at who once was his best friend's ashamed expression he starts to wonder if he can still call him a friend at all...

Several years ago...

Tae has always loved the planet he was born in. It's his home and he wouldn't change that even if he could. But it would be a lie to say it's been easy to live there. When he was younger, the food wasn't enough and not all his siblings were lucky enough to survive the hunger days. Or at least, that's how things used to be...until Pari came along.

Mother, that star is getting closer!

- It's your imagination, son

Tae was sure of it. The star he's been observing for a while was moving. He decided to get closer to the limit of his territory. Their enemies on the other side could appear any second. But he couldn't miss it. That night, a strange object landed in front of him. It had a small door which he opened immediately. His curiosity used to be his biggest strength.

From that thing, a beautiful plant filled with white flowers started coming out taking over the new territory. And when he looked farther in, he came across an unconscious alien with white hair. Tae wasn't afraid of him. He wasn't afraid of anything really. So he helped him out and tried his best to cure him with his natural medicine.

He never got to hear a single word from him, but there were other ways to receive his thanks. Whenever someone from his tribe would die or bleed, the alien would create a tree. That tree's fruits have many times became part of their diet and the little forest that started to form kept them safe from the people on the other side of their planet. Taking him as the father of nature and the reason why their life expectancy grew, they named him Pari

- I can stay here with you, right Pari?

Silence. A comfortable one.

- The red trees...are they from the blood of the others?

Silence and a sign of affirmation where Pari touched his nose.

Some of the trees came from the animals of the planet. They also started to live longer and grow bigger. Making the hunters on the other side appreciate Pari's existence and agreeing on keeping him alive. Even naming him Patra as a way to give him respect.

- From the top of the trees I can see them all...

Tae loved staring at the other half of his planet. The warm colors of the sand, the little fires they used to gather around, their colorful tattoos. Seeing Pari had fallen asleep, he thought it was a good idea to get even closer without getting scolded. There was a fire and his first impulse was to touch it. Thankfully, before his hand could reach it the sound of a cry stopped him. Behind a red bush, a boy was hiding and letting his tears fall. The scars decorated his naked torso.

- You look cute, need help?

Unable to understand his words, Kook turned around aiming his spear at the stranger. His teary eyes went wide. He never imagined his supposed enemies were this pretty...

- Why are you here? I'll kill you if you move!

- Hmmm I know! Take this!

Unaware of the danger, Tae got closer to give him a white flower and placed it carefully on Kook's hair. Showing his boxy smile, he made his born enemy blush.

- If it's poisoned it won't work on me

- I love the smell of it too!

Clearly, the communication wasn't meant for them. Neither took the time to learn the other's language. A noise made both of them jump in place. Knowing he shouldn't be there despite it all, Tae ran back to the forest. And Kook made sure to save the flower before anyone else in his family could see it. He was supposed to be a strong, violent hunter. But that day he had panicked because the animal he was chasing turned out to be pregnant. He let her live, breaking the rules.

Ever since that day, Tae and Kook would end up meeting almost daily. Most of the time inside the forest, letting Pari protect them from being found. As the years went by, Kook became stronger and his scars and tattoos multiplied. But his heart...it only belonged to Tae. There was never a need to understand what the other was saying.

It was the night of an important ritual for Kook. He was finally gonna be considered as part of the main hunting team. He was nervous, practicing his promise to defend their territory and keep their people well fed. When suddenly, his crush appeared once more.

- Hello! Guess what! I found a small lake we could vis-

- You shouldn't be here right now

- I have no idea how to explain what a lake is with signs, but you'll love it!

- They'll come get me soon, you need to go!

The way Kook held onto Tae's shoulders and the worry shining through his eyes, made him realize something was wrong. Suddenly, a scream was heard and both their heads turned. Tae ran out against Kook's will. He could recognize that scream. It was his mother. She had followed him trying to protect him and was now caught by the others.

- Mo-

- No, come here. They'll find you.

Kook tried to pull him back in and hide him. But it was too late. His family had already spotted the boy. There was no way out and the ritual had started. They wanted Kook to be the one to kill them. He stared at the spear he was offered as Tae's cried flooded his ears. The fire was burning in front of them.

- Choose which one to kill, we'll take the other

- I...Him. I'll kill him.

Kook walked up to Tae with his eyes showing a cold, murderous look. At least that's what he was trying to show his family. Tae wasn't afraid of him. Not yet. Not until he saw what that family did to his mother. The fire taking over her and the cheers from Kook's family could do nothing but traumatize him. Kook took advantage of the moment to grab his hand and run away. But his family wasn't gonna let them go that easily.

- If you're still a coward, we'll show you how it's done!

The spears and arrows started raining around them. Kook kept running even after getting hit several times. But Tae? His body was not ready for things like that. The first spear that simply scratched him made him bleed non stop. Some of the arrows had the tip set on fire, only making it worse for him. One of them slightly hurt his head. Enough to let him feel the burn. And for a species like his, it became a deadly wound. He fainted before he could reach the forest. Kook had to drag him to safety.

- I'll heal you! You'll be okay! I promise you, Pak'thra!

In the middle of that dark forest, he made a soft pressure on every wound to cure them. But even though it seemed to work, Tae didn't wake up. His eyes stayed closed and his body seemed pale and weak. From behind them, someone else got closer.

- Help us, please help us Patra! I'll do anything!

There's nothing the white haired alien could've done. He just gave him a comfortable place to sleep. Hoping some rest would be enough for him. As the hours went by, they fell asleep side by side while Pari stayed up to make sure no one came for them. When he looked down at his feet, he could see the blood of his two hurt friends forming a small puddle. Blue and red. He did the only thing he knew how to do. He created a tree. A big, strong, purple tree that would endure anything. In the center of that forest, their union formed the most beautiful creation he had ever done.

It took Tae a total of three days to wake up. And when he did, everything had changed. He wasn't as curious as he was scared. The fire was his biggest fear. And the tattooed alien that came to visit him the time he woke up...he couldn't recognize him. The times he tried to remember who that boy was, all he could see was the flames that took over his mother. All he could hear were the cheers of that family . All he could feel was the pain of their spears and arrows. And just like that, they went back to being strangers. Although one of them would never forget...

Currently...

Tae wakes up in a cold sweat. All of it coming back to him. Every memory. From the darkest and painful ones to the most beautiful moments in life. He knew he was rescued by someone, but he could never remember his face. Until now.

- Pak'thra, you're awake...I thought I was gonna lose you again

- Again...

- Are you okay? Does it hurt?

- It was you. I remember...

Chapter Text

After showing Jimin his ability to create plants out of blood, Joonie is once more left in the room with Jin. Going from that light and hopeful atmosphere with the Captain of the ship to this gloomy one is stressing the alien more than usual. Jin is completely quiet, with his back turned on him as he stares out the window. He doesn't need to see his expression to know he's still upset.

Oh, he would love to talk with him. To tell him every single detail. He walks up to Jin and tries giving him a soft hug. But obviously, the human pulls away almost instantly.

- Don't even. You knew everything from the beginning and didn't say a word. You can't just solve things with a hug. You have to talk.

The alien tries to look for a way to explain. He gets closer to the window and breathes out ready to draw on the foggy glass. However before he can start, Jin confronts him in an angry tone.

- I'm tired of playing your games. Talk. You can do it. You have functional vocal cords. And you know how important this is to me. What happened to my brother? Who was after him? Why did he end up that way?

The alien starts to breathe a little faster than usual. The words don't come out and the tears are starting to well in his eyes. He wants to sign with his hands but knows it would be impossible for Jin to get the full story like that.

- You know what? It doesn't matter. I don't trust you. My brother lost his life and you can't even give me the closure I need. All I hope is that you're not to blame for what happened to him. Or I won't be able to forgive you. Now go. I wanna be alone.

Jin knows he's not thinking straight. He's tired, emotionally hurt and everything in his head leads him to anger and panic. He left earth with the small hope of finding the missing piece of his family. But all he found was a crime scene and silence from the only person that knows what happened.

As Jin sits by the window again ready to ignore him, the alien walks out of the room with the tears running down his cheeks. It's true. Everything is his fault. A sharp pain in his chest makes him bite his lips making them bleed. Because if he could, he would cry louder than ever, scream and tell the whole truth to his favorite human in the universe. But he can't. He promised...

Years ago...

He remembers the day the human's ship landed on his planet. His entire family ran up to see what that was, excited and curious about the visitors. The pill was given to him by the Captain himself. A man with such kind eyes, he couldn't help to trust him.

- See? This way we can communicate and even track you down if we need to talk to you! All you need to do is use your voice and you'll send a signal to us so we can find you, young man!

He never thought that pill could be a curse in the future. He just swallowed it and smiled showing his dimples. He got to know a new language with so much ease, everyone was impressed with the effects. And the humans were excited to talk to him. They even gave him a name!

- Nam...I thank "Nam" will fit you perfectly!

The alien met the entire crew that week. From Leetuk, in charge of maintenance to Captain Heechul in charge of...well, everything. This last one quickly became one of Nam's favorite people he'd ever met. He wasn't expecting a human to be so kind and lovely. After all, the rumors have it that that's the species that destroyed their own planet slowly.

- And this is my room! Ah! You like that picture, Nam? I took it before leaving. That one on the right is my brother Jin! He's waiting for me back on earth

- Wow, he's...uuh... nevermind

- Handsome, huh? Don't be embarrassed. Everyone tells him that. He went to an all boys school and still got over 15 presents and flowers on Valentine's day.

Nam agreed to the idea of joining their mission and returning to earth with them. And the reason to be invited were his hands. Just like everyone else on his planet, he's always been able to create new things. Including beautiful and healthy trees and plants. He just needed a little bit of blood.

They weren't perfect since on the first tries he created trees that didn't produce oxygen. But thanks to the scientific team in that ship he managed to improve at a fast pace. The weeks past by and he got to talk to everyone in that ship. He played cards with them, he laughed and talked past bed time. He even grew a small obsession for asking about Heechul's younger brother back on earth.

- My brother will love you when we get there!

- You really think so?

- Of course! You're an alien, my friend, you'll save earth aaaaaand I think you're totally his type!

Nam went totally red staring at Jin's picture. Each time he would hear something about him it would make him more and more interested. He sounded so fun and carefree. Jin soon became his first crush even before they met. It was all going smoothly until he made a mistake...

Nam's hands can create more than just plants. They can make almost anything come true. He showed the crew time and time again all the things he could create. And between those demonstrations, he showed something beyond beautiful. He made diamonds. So shiny and delicate that it made all of them hypnotized. A never seen before material was forming them. Valuable, resistant, gorgeous.

Heechul kept one as a memory but never asked for more. That wasn't his mission. It wasn't important. He moved on with the trip. But some others in that ship couldn't ignore it that easily...

Chapter Text

Some years ago...

Jimin spent his entire life surrounded by people that couldn't understand him. His family was like most of the world, they accepted the planet they live in wouldn't last more than a few more generations. Future was never promising and all they could do was enjoy the time they had on Earth. Looking for a solution was a waste of time for them. But for Jimin? He had to believe there was some hope out there and he was willing to find it.

His family always saw him as the weird one, the hopeless idiot that started a long and complicated career for a useless reason. Reaching the title of Captain was almost impossible for most students and even more if they wanted to be designated to long term missions. Jimin didn't care how hard it was gonna be, he wasn't gonna give up. He wasn't gonna stop until reaching his goal. If it was up to him he would've spent weeks without sleeping just to study.

His family tried to stop him knowing he would be a ball of stress soon enough only to save a world that was falling apart. But Jimin never listened to their warnings. He didn't care what they had to say. He didn't care about anyone's opinion.... unless you count Min Yoongi.

- I guessed you were skipping meals again so I brought pizza! Next time I'll bring something healthier, I promise.

- As soon as I'm done with this chapter I'll eat

- Nope. You're eating now, Jiminie

- But-

- No buts! Come here and tell me what you're working on!

Yoongi was the only one able to convince Jimin of taking a break. A danger in Jimin's eyes but a relief on his body and health. He tried to resist Yoongi's relaxed aura several times but it never worked. How could he refuse to spend time with Yoongi? He was the only one that would listen to his nerd stories, congratulate him every time he would pass an exam and honestly care about his passion. He would always stay over during exams the night before to make sure Jimin would sleep at least a few hours and wake up on time.

- Wow! Another perfect score! I'll have to give you a reward!

- You need to stop buying me things, Yoongi. It's not necessary, I'm happy just by having you here

Ah, those comments he always did without thinking. Yoongi loved them more than anything. How was he gonna stop himself from giving him presents? He couldn't. Especially after finding the perfect one for him. A present that would always make Jimin's eyes shine excited.

- A song?

- I know you'll start with the last part of training soon and they told me you can wear earphones there! And since you're always nervous I thought maybe this could help you relax...

Jimin pressed play and his eyes closed enjoying the unknown melody. Yoongi's voice coming from the speakers made his body naturally lose all tension. Even when he had no idea what the words in that song meant.

- I never heard it, is it a cover? I can't understand the lyrics

- I wrote it thinking of you, Jiminie. I found a very pretty language from before we got the universal one. You know, from when each country had it's own language!

- I like it.

Lyrics didn't matter. Just hearing Yoongi's voice made it perfect. He always knew his best friend was his biggest weakness. If he would've failed his exams to become a Captain, he would've chosen a common life next to him. A scenario he tries not to think about since he should focus on work. Despite considering him a distraction from his duty to the world, he always secretly wanted more of Yoongi. He couldn't get tired of him. Until now...

Currently...

- What do you mean you didn't write it?

- Kihyun was the only one in charge of that project. I just...I convinced him to put my name on it so I could come here...

Jimin doesn't seem to show any reaction. His expression shows nothing. He stands there quietly, processing what he just heard and everything that implies. For when he finally understands it all, Yoongi has to swallow hard.

- Motherfucker

- Jimin-

- This is the job of my dreams, the whole reason for my constant effort and you decided to put my mission at risk?!

- I'm sorry, Jiminie. I didn't think-

- You know how important this is for me! And now that I need you the most to show what you know it turns out you were lying?!

- I couldn't let you go for 10 fucking years without me! You have to understand, I had to lie!

- Are you seriously defending yourself?! You don't regret lying at all!

- No! I don't! I don't regret coming here, I needed to be with you!

Yoongi wants to get closer but Jimin won't allow it. The youngest's eyes are glossy but the tears won't fall. He refuses to show Yoongi how hurt he is. How weak he feels right now.

- You think I wasn't gonna miss you? That I didn't know what 10 years would mean, Yoongi? I knew it was gonna be hard but I prepared for it because this is the most important thing in my life. This is what I always wanted. This is the reason for all my sleepless nights. I chose it over family, over a common life. I chose this a long time ago and you knew that. And you still put my dream on the line? I was gonna go back to you in ten years but right now I don't even wanna look at you!

- I...I couldn't wait for that long without going crazy...

- Well, I'm glad you're happy with your decision to come here. At least one of us is.

- Jimin-

- No. I don't even want you to call my name. Right now I'm your Captain and nothing else. And all you are for me is a civilian that lied his way onto my ship.

Jimin walks off, leaving him behind. Yoongi isn't as strong as him and hiding the tears is impossible. He really ruined the one thing Jimin's been working for. And yet he wants to run after him, explaining he did it for love. But right now he can't help to realize that if there was any chance of Jimin loving him back...it might not be there anymore...

Chapter Text

There's a minute of silence after Tae's words. Kook can't believe the love of his life just said he remembers him. The memories came back and he knows what that means. Even though Tae knows he tried to save he him, he's also aware of what his family did to his mother. The one thing Kook will forever regret.

- Pak'thra...I never meant for that to happen

- I don't understand you. Why did you save me?

- Because you're my Pak'thra. My other half. I love you and I promised I'd forever protect you from anything and anyone. Even myself and my people if necessary. I wish I could've done more and saved her too...I think about it every day.

- We didn't do anything. All I wanted was to see you. She had never crossed to your territory before that night!

- I'm sorry. There's no words enough to tell you how much I'm sorry. My people care only about themselves. About getting food for themselves and their families. About winning every battle to make sure we survive. You'll say they're crazy and maybe you're right

- Maybe?!

- But we never knew any better! I spent my childhood being taught I had to be a hunter. All I had to do was grow strong to kill and protect. Until I met you...

- Did anything change after that? You saved me but-

- Everything changed. I belong to you. I'll spend my life doing everything I can for you to live happily. That's why I keep changing the rules of my people. I made sure to win any fight or competition to be a true leader and force them to leave all of you alone. I would give my life for you, Pak'thra...

Tae knows every single word coming out of him is true. He not only remembered the worst night of his life but also all those months prior. Where he would visit Kook and have fun in a friendship that was starting to become something else. He remembers himself thinking about him every night with a smile on his face, ignoring the consequences of what getting near that side of the planet were.

He can't be scared of Kook anymore. The confidence he used to have in him returns. But it's not enough. Even if he isn't a monster, he can't ignore the pain in his heart thinking of that night. Losing his mother changed him forever. He needs time to think about it, to process what all this implies. A part of him hates the alien in front of him while another part is starting to miss what they used to have.

- I need to be alone, Kook...

The other can't ignore his wishes and decides to leave Tae on his own inside their bedroom. The image of the love of his life about to cry, upset, disappointed and so emotional...it only breaks Kook's heart. He needs some company not to cry as well. Walking around the ship, Kook finds a room with two of his friends. Yoongi and Joonie are sitting side by side at the dinner table, eating from a bowl of ice cream like two depressed teenagers. He sits by Joonie's side and takes a spoon to join them.

- I guess I'm not the only one having a terrible night. What happened to you, Yoongi?

- I ruined his life. His mission. I lied to my beautiful Jimin and he'll never forgive me. He hates me, I know it. And all because I can't be smart enough to enjoy chemistry.

- How about you, Patra?

All Joonie does is let his head fall on the table not caring about the pain on his forehead doing so.

- That's not very specific...

- From what I heard - Yoongi says - he was hiding things from Jin and he found out. And you, Kook? What did you do?

- I saved the love of my life from dying

- That doesn't sound bad!

- But it doesn't erase the fact that my family killed his mother and set her on fire

-...Okay, you win.

The three sigh and keep eating ice cream. Really the universe decided to put the three of them in the worst possible position when it comes to the men they love. An hour later, someone else spots the three of them opening the second bowl of ice cream. Jung Hoseok hasn't seen them like this before.

- Are you guys forming a sadness club or what?

- I guess so. Wanna join? You need a broken heart and...no, that's it. Oh, and if you did something stupid you can match our decisions in life!

Hobi rolls his eyes and tries to distract them for their obvious depression. Even if Min pretends to be joking, his sad eyes show his true emotions. Trying for them to think about something else, he tells them about the change of route Jimin ordered him to follow.

- Obviously, we can't continue the path of the last ship. We wouldn't make it and we're probably being chased right this moment by those space pirates.

- So the plan is to try a new route? Is that what my Jiminie said?

- Yup. According to him, we need to focus on the mission so we can go back as soon as possible to return these other aliens to their planets. With Joonie as an exception. Oh, and Jimin added he had to "leave someone else on earth and never talk to him again".

Yoongi knows Jimin was talking about him. The sooner they end the mission the sooner they'll go back to earth and he won't be able to see the love of his life again. Jimin will ignore him forever, he's sure of it. And it hurts like hell. On the other side, Kook feels a sad sensation take over him as well. When they return, Tae will go to his side of the planet and might never come near the forest again.

- You look even more depressed than before.

- Yeah, no shit. This sucks...

- Actually...I have something that could distract you if you wanna help me out...

Chapter Text

Hobi walks with his three crew mates following him close behind. Entering his work room, they can see how seriously he takes his role as a vice-captain. Under Jimin's orders, he's always making sure everything goes smoothly. Despite his cheerful personality, he never stopped being a true professional.

- I'm gonna be honest, this is the sort of conversation I should have with Captain Park first

- And why didn't you?

- I tried but he's a little...emotional right now. Let's just say he's not in the mood

- He would talk about work even if he's not in the mood though! My Jiminie is very serious about that

- I know. It's just that...this is only a theory. I might be wrong but I believe that we are in danger.

- Danger?!

Kook starts to panic and is ready to fight. Should he go back to the room and get his spear? Because he would do so and face anything or anyone to keep his beloved Tae safe.

- Not an immediate danger! But I would like to get a second opinion if you don't mind

The three agree to listen since they have nothing else to do. Hobi looks for something inside his drawers and the rest waits slightly anxious. Finally, he pulls out a small flask where an old bullet is saved.

- This is what killed former Captain Heechul. A gunshot from the gun of someone in the crew. Most likely the gunshot we heard at the end of the recording he left for us.

- Don't you think maybe whoever attacked them stole their guns?

- That was our first theory. But the more I think about it the less sense it has. The creatures chasing us didn't seem smart as much as easily influenced.

- You think someone convinced them to attack the ship years ago? Why would someone do that?

- For the same reason they followed us and might be chasing our ship right now. They're looking for something.

- Wait, if we believe we're being followed and will get attacked we should be ready to defend ourselves. I'll kill anyone to keep Pak'thra alive

- Lovely. But I think they're actually looking for a person. After all, they had a tracer that should lead them to someone. And they wrote "no one stays silent forever". There's only one person here that's been quiet the whole trip...

All of them turn their heads to stare at Joonie. He's nervous and biting his lip. Hobi has no intentions to judge him or accuse him of anything. He simply wants to understand what's going on so he can know who their enemy truly is. Is his duty to protect the crew from anything unexpected.

- You think...they just wanna talk to Joonie?

- I wouldn't say they wanna talk. If you consider what they left behind, you'd think they would do the same to us if they find us. Although I would love to know why.

Kook and Yoongi watch the white haired alien walk up to Hobi and take his hand. In a second, he bites him so hard it makes him bleed over the table. Shocked and slightly scared, Yoongi wants to pull them apart. But Kook trusts the intentions of his friend, knowing perfectly the powers his hands hold when they get in contact with blood. Joonie uses his touch once more to turn that red blood into the same thing that got him in trouble last time. A bunch a small diamonds, so beautiful and eye catching that all of them feel hypnotized by the glow of it's colors.

- God... that's incredible, Patra! I've never seen you make those before!

- They're beautiful...I would put one of those in a ring for Jimin. But I'm not sure he'd wanna marry me

-...Did anyone else know you can do this?

Hobi's worried and serious tone makes the rest realize where his fears are coming from. The positive answer only brings one more question from him.

- Who? Do you remember who was it that wanted them?

Joonie moves carefully not to scare Hobi and takes his hat to leave it over the table. For a moment they're all confused. Until they realize Hobi is the only one that can use one like that.

- The vice-captain...what was his name? Lee...Lee Donghae, was it?

The alien feels just as much hate as fear hearing that name again after all these years. And all the horrible memories come back to him. He should've realized sooner what that man was planning. But he was so good at pretending to be Heechul's friend that everyone thought they were equally honest and kind. Sadly that was not the case. While the Captain used be friends with every new alien and tried to accomplish nothing but his mission, Donghae was planning something else. It took him a while but he managed to manipulate the creatures of a dark planet to do the dirty work for him.

A few more humans in that ship joined his plan. For them, it sounded much better than the original idea. They wanted to go back to earth as heroes, the only survivors of a tragedy, with an answer to the crisis and with valuable diamonds that every leader in the world would fight for.

Joonie remembers running through the hallways of the ship, hearing the screams and gunshots. He was hurt himself and his blood left a trail of white flowers behind him. His tears were falling non-stop realizing they were capable of destroying his own home just so he had nowhere else to go. They took from him everything he ever loved. He entered Heechul's room, where a pink plant was over the desk. They made it together and the Captain saved it with care to remember their friendship.

- Nam! Come here!

Heechul held his hand and pulled him out for there guiding him towards the emergency capsule. Small enough for one one or two people, it was ready to be detached from the main ship. The screams, gunshots and alarms were invading his ears. He had seen the people that was happily smiling the night before die in the hands of those other aliens and their human leader.

- Listen to me, I have to send a message to earth. If I don't come back soon enough, you have to go

- No! Forget about that! Just come with me!

- I need to tell them there's hope out there. They can find you and I'm sure they'll come and get you. Don't worry about me, you are the one that needs to live

- But...I can't....I don't wanna be alone

- Good people will come for you. Promise me you'll wait for them. And promise me....you won't talk, Nam

He wanted to answer. But the best he could do was touch his own nose as a positive signal making Heechul smile one last time. There was one final hug before Nam was left alone. The capsule left with only him inside minutes later. And he was unconscious when he fell on a distant planet. One where two species were living on each side of the planet. And since then, he's been making trees and plants to be ready. Not really wanting to see the horrible side of humans again. He has never made diamonds during those years and he kept his promise to never talk again...

God, you guys are so dramatic about that.

Chapter Text

Finally everything falls into place for Hobi. It was the vice-captain who planned to go against his instructions for a treasure he had no right over. This is now a more concrete theory and he should tell Jimin about it. However he can't leave the room before Yoongi stops him with an obvious truth.

- He won't do anything about it.

- Yoongi, I know he's emotional but he's still my boss. He needs to know this!

- All you'll do is stress him even more. But let's be honest, his plan won't change. He'll try to go back home going unnoticed so they don't attack us

- You don't think he'll face them? They're murderers! You think Jimin will let them go?

- And you think my lovely and extremely correct Jimin would risk his mission, his ship and his life looking for justice without a direct order from Earth?

-...Well, if you put it like that I guess not.

Hobi feels uncomfortable to say the least. There's something extremely wrong with letting those people behind and just run away. They killed a crew that he considered heroes. The other three can tell that's what he's thinking and Yoongi decides to say the first thing that comes up in his head.

- Maybe we could go after them

-...What?

- Look, you don't have to join me if you don't want to. But honestly I don't mind doing this for us. My other option is to just go back to earth with you and spend my life sad and very very lonely. This way I could at least take a problem off my Jiminie's shoulders.

There's a moment of silence. And the first one to stand by his side ready to join him is Kook. Let's not lie to ourselves, Yoongi won't make it alive without someone to protect him.

- You'll really leave the ship where Tae is?

- They are a threat to my Pak'thra as well. It is my mission in life to keep him safe. And this is the last thing I'll be able to do for him before we go back to our planet where he'll ignore me forever

- God, you guys are so dramatic about that.

Hobi can't understand how they think about their romantic problems in a situation like this. But he can't even ask about it before Joonie joins them as well. He was there when it all started and he wants to be there when it ends. If there's one person in this world that wants justice for what happened to the last crew it's him. Although Hoseok doesn't love the idea, it feels like the right thing to do.

- We're gonna need a plan if we wanna go through with this. I have an idea. It's risky but I think it'll work

- Of course it's risky, we're only four!

- No, guys. You're three. - Hobi says - I can't leave my position and I would shit myself if I go with you. I'll make sure things here go as planned and we can escape if they try to catch us.

Since having an actual physical fight would be an absolute disadvantage, they decide to listen carefully to Hobi's plan. Kook is on his warrior mode. Ready to do whatever it takes to put an end to that menace. Joonie of course intervenes with silent signals to guide Hobi on things that he knows would work. This is their only chance against that man and his crew. The possibilities to come back alive aren't as high as they wish but neither of them cares about it anymore. They won't back down now.

Before leaving, Yoongi writes a small letter. The most important thing is to clarify in it that if something happens to him it's his own responsibility. He's doing this to take a problem away from Jimin not to add one. He makes it clear he's not following his orders at all and that he lied about his reasons to be in that ship. If this is a mistake then he's the only one to blame for the result. He leaves the letter on top of his desk together with instructions for Jimin to access his entire collection of songs. He feels that's the part of him Jimin will miss the most if he doesn't come back alive.

After going through their plan for the third time, they head to the emergency exit capsule. The three of them leave Hobi behind and finally start a journey in a different direction than their ship. After a few minutes, they check the map to make sure they're in the right direction.

- How the fuck are we supposed to find this guys? I mean...what if they're not as close as we thought?

- Well, if we can't go to them then maybe they should come to us

- Give me an idea that works, Kook

- If Patra talks they'll trace him, right? And they could come and get us.

They both stare at the white haired alien, waiting for his approval. He takes a deep breath calming his nerves. Not even he remembers how his own voice used to sound. After clearing his throat, he looks out the window where the stars and galaxies hide his biggest enemy on this universe.

- Come and get me, Donghae

His voice is deep and sweet at the same time. Kook already chose Tae as his other half but he must admit a voice like that would make him have a crush on Nam if he thinks about it too much. Now the three of them are ready to end the debt of injustice after what the last crew passed through. And hopefully they'll be able to talk about it someday...

Next Chapter

You don't know what kind of past Joonie could've had

Maybe I should give him a chance...

Hi babes! This story is reaching it's climax sooner than you think 😱

I'll see you very soon for the next chapter~

Chapter Text

Tae finds himself alone inside the room he was sharing with his supposed enemy. He asked Kook to leave him alone for now just so he could think. But his head is a complete mess and he can hardly have one thought before an opposite one pops up. He honestly doesn't hate Kook, not even a little bit. Not anymore at least. But the idea of being with him, keeping him close, knowing what his species is capable of...it still feels too dangerous.

On the other hand, this trip has been the most entertaining thing that ever happened to him. And he owes a lot of it to the alien that made sure to play with him, make him laugh and most importantly protect him from any kind of menace. He sighs, thinking about Kook holding him softly after they were attacked on that dark planet. He was not afraid of danger because all he cared was to protect Tae from those creatures.

If he keeps thinking about all of that on his own, his brain might explode. So he decides to walk out the room and try to find the closest thing to a guide he ever had. He walks up to Joonie's room but to his surprise he's not there. The only person inside is a crying Jin who's trying his best to control his own tears. Not wanting to leave him in such state and thinking maybe this could help him think in something different, he sits next to Jin and talks to him in a calm and supportive tone. After all, he knows how much Joonie likes him so that's enough for Tae to trust him.

- What is it? Wanna talk?

- Tae... I'm sorry, it's not that important. It's just that...I think I'm a total idiot. I trusted someone that hid things from me. Hell, he keeps hiding things right now!

He doesn't even need to ask who he's talking about. It's true that Joonie can be a genuine mystery and his communication skills are slim. Yet, Tae can't avoid to defend him.

- You know, Pari never talked to us. Not even once since we met! But we trust him with our life

- Why? You can't get to know him truly. You don't know what kind of past Joonie could've had

- His past doesn't matter. He helped me and my people when it mattered the most. He created huge trees that would keep us more hidden from our enemies. And from which we could eat fruits more than once a day. He took care of us, he gave me a place when I was about to die. And even if he doesn't talk, we know him. Do you really not feel like you got to know him all this time with him? Because then maybe you just need to understand him better. He's the kind of person you can trust and there's no reason not to...

The more he talks, the more he realizes all those things can be said about Kook as well. The young alien never agreed to what they did to his family, he tried to change things, he saves his life more than once, he admires him from afar. And even before they could speak they same language they managed to fall in love once. How can he give Jin a lesson about trust when he's doing the same thing? Even when he told Kook about his mixed feelings he could see the guilt on the other's eyes. He knows he broke his heart asking to be left alone. But he needed some time to think, because now everything is a little more clear

- I guess you're right, Tae. Maybe I should give him a chance...

The share a supportive look before getting up together. Since it's not an easy thing to do, they walk side by side to face their respective lovely aliens. However, they're not able to find them. They go through every room in the ship, from top to bottom and making sure not to skip any possible place where they could be. But it's impossible. Seeing how they've been trying to reach them for almost an hour, they decide the best thing is to ask for help. And ho better for that than the sub-captain himself.

Hobi is still in his office when they enter. He's not alone. Actually, he's getting screamed at by the Captain himself. And only now hearing their private conversation they'll realize where the missing boys are...

You didn't realize he was lying? It was quite obvious!

Maybe he loves you too much

Had to write this chapter twice because I lost my notes 🙃 but here it is! It's short but necessary

Next time we'll see Jimin with a character I low-key really like ✨ See you soon~

Chapter Text

Jimin is now working next to Suran with a frown on his face and a heavy feeling inside his chest. They've been in absolute silence for the last hour. The girl knows him enough to know when to leave him on his own. Dealing with him has been part of her entire career. They've both been the best of their class and ended up as a team many times. Which doesn't fully mean they're friends but they can read each other pretty well. They know each other's weaknesses and desires. That's what keeps them together and separates at the same time...

- I'll be right back

- Please Suran, don't take too long.

- I'll just go call Min so he can help us.

- Don't.

- Is it an order? Because three heads think better than two

- I hate to say this. But he's a fraud. He didn't write that project like he said.

- Well, duh. Tell me something I don't know

- He told you?!

- He didn't need to tell me anything. Are you serious? You didn't realize he was lying? It was quite obvious!

- Why didn't you say anything to me?!

- Min didn't become smart out of nowhere, I thought you knew!

- If I would've known why the fuck would I let him in my ship?

- I guessed you wanted him here. He's the only one that keeps you under control.

- No he's not!

- Oh please. You always go too far with everything, you demand too much of yourself and others, you don't know your own priorities and sometimes forget to eat or sleep for a whole day. And Min...he really is incredible. He's so caring and sweet, sensitive and attentive...

The way Suran's eyes shine naming Yoongi makes Jimin uncomfortable. He knows perfectly how interested she's always been in him. Although Yoongi could never interpret that from her cold expressions. She's like Jimin in many ways. Showing her feelings isn't that easy. Hell, Yoongi spent his whole career thinking she was trying to steal Jimin from him. Not knowing she almost ignores this mission to stay on earth near Yoongi thinking he wasn't gonna be on the ship.

- Do you have to sound so interested when you mention him? He's a liar

- Yes and a complete idiot. I'm not saying he's secretly smart. But he's loved by many of us despite it.

- Yeah well, I used to care for him until now. He never lied to me like this before.

- No, he's always been perfect and now he made a tiny-big mistake. I'm guessing you're not considering the balance of those things.

- Maybe he became an idiot with time and now he'll keep fucking things up. I don't have any other explanation as to why he risked it all to come here.

- Maybe it's because he loves you too much

Oh, that word plays games in Jimin's heart and head. For the first time all night, he stops thinking of his work and the risk of losing it. He's now focused on the idea of Yoongi being in love with him and how that makes his heart feel a calm that takes over his soul. Why? Why is he loving the idea of it? He's not supposed to be even considering that as a pleasant idea. He's angry, he's never been this mad, he hates him. He must hate him. He can't forgive him. No...

- Jimin?

- Hmm?

- You've been standing there quietly for the last two minutes. What are you thinking of?

- N-Nothing. I just...I need some air.

He walks out before she can state the obvious. He's inside his head thinking of Min Yoongi and what he means to him. He walks up to the other side of the ship, ignoring Hobi's nervous attitude near the controls. He stops at Yoongi's door and after taking a deep breath he knocks on it. There's no answer. That only makes him even more upset than before and knocks again, harder and letting the loud sound be heard across the hallway. But once more, no one answers.

- For fuck's sake

He opens the door himself ready to have a heated argument and maybe venting about what he feels. That mix of love and disappointment will have to wait. There's no one inside the room and all he finds is a note on top of Yoongi's desk. Seeing his name written on the top of it, he decides to read it.

I, Min Yoongi, wanna let everyone who reads this that my actions on the ship where all my decision. Captain Park never did anything to hurt his crew or this project. I lied and scammed the government to join them and it's my own decision to leave on a mission now.
If I don't come back, all my things are for my family. And for my Jiminie, I leave him all my songs for whenever he needs them.
I'm sorry.

He has to read it three times before his legs can take him out of that room. He checks the whole ship to find him but he's not there. And when his eyes land on Hobi something clicks. His nervous ticks are acting up, he knows something.

- Tell me where's Yoongi.

- I don't kno-

- I'm not asking, it's an order.

- I really don't know.

Jimin gives him a look that lets him know that order just became a threat. He'll destroy Hobi's defense to find the man he lov...hates...whatever that feeling is. It takes the sub-captain a few minutes before he breaks and tells him the truth. At the same time, Tae and Jin enter the main room seeing them argue. And Jimin hates disobeying the protocol. But if it's to save Min Yoongi, he would do anything in this world...

Chapter Text

- You want one?

Kook turns to lock eyes with his cellmate. Yoongi is holding the same little pack of mints he takes everywhere offering one and pretending he's not terrified of the plan they're executing.

- No thanks, they're quite disgusting

- C'mon...

- Ugh

Kook takes one and tries not to chew on it much so the taste can wash off faster. Sitting next to each other they look outside the cage they put them in. A little after Namjoon used his voice to get the enemies attention they showed up. Their ship looked so old, probably because it was made out of the parts of many other ships. Most likely ships they attacked earning the title of space pirates. Though they were more than that. Yoongi can't understand how could someone go that far and destroy that much for something as simple as money or power.

Joonie is probably the one that knows the most about those things. But he's not in that cell now. Unlike them, he didn't end up locked in an old rusty cage with barely any space for them to stand. Instead, he's currently having a long conversation with the Captain of this ship and the man that killed everyone just ten years ago. Even though they would love to hear their conversation and make sure Joonie is safe, they have to wait. They can't make a move for now. Not until they get the signal they agreed to.

- Want another one?

- Don't push it. My stomach is not made for these things

- It's just a-

He can't end the phrase before one of the creatures keeping them captive takes the mint box off his hand. His movement is so rough Yoongi knows he could've lost his hand if he didn't let them go. Those primitive aliens with white eyes and four arms decide to taste the mints themselves. They look like kids with a new candy. Of course, no kid could ever look as scary as them.

- Hey, are you sure you can open this when necessary?

- I could tear you apart if I try hard enough. I can handle an old cage.

- Thank God you're not our enemy, Kook.

- Yeah well, I can get out but I don't think I can win against all of them

- You can trick them easily. They're clumsy and slow. Even when they talk

- Talk? I never heard a word out of them

- Ah, communication is a wonderful thing! Look at them closely. Look at the way they move...

Kook stares at them with extreme detail and yet understands nothing. There's not a single thing standing up for him. Nothing calls his attention. But Yoongi? He spent so many years learning about dead tongues, about ways of communicating with others, he can see it all perfectly.

- The one standing with his back straight. That's one of those with more power. You can tell by the his head is up. The less power or rank they have, the closer to the floor they get. Like the one practically walking on all fours.

- And where do you see them talking?

- It's the sounds they make with their palms. Look! They seem to have a poor eyesight so physical signals are useless. But the small sounds coming from their hands as they snap their fingers or tap other things...they can interpret those sounds.

- I don't think I could ever understand what they say

- I can't go that far either. But I can tell those over there are giving the orders. If you take them down it might be easier to move to the next step of the plan.

- You know, Captain Park should acknowledge you're smart as fuck sometimes

- Yeah...tell him that if we go back alive, okay? As a favor?

- Don't even need to ask

They both wait several minutes in that cell pretending to be calm. Truth is they're well aware of the risk they took coming here. The chances of dying are high and neither of them is satisfied with the way their lives are currently. Trying to distract himself from all those thoughts, Kook looks around trying to observe the aliens near them a little better. Following Yoongi's example, he tries his best to interpret their movements, their gestures, their sounds.

It's in the middle of his attentive analysis of his surroundings that he sees one of the creatures walking strangely. He seems uncomfortable in his own skin. In a whisper he talks to Yoongi again while pointing at that specific alien.

- What about that one? What's his rank?

- That one...I don't....I don't understand it. He changes positions constantly. It's like he's copying the ones he comes across.

- Hard to copy someone when he probably can't even see them. He must be just as blind as...

In that very moment, the creature turns around and Kook can see a pair of green eyes. The same green eyes he fell for when he met his favorite and lovely shape shifter for the first time. Tae is now surrounded by dangerous creatures trying to go by unnoticed. But more than one have their attention on him. Kook can tell there's a tension starting to rise near the love of his life.

- I'll open now

- What?! You can't change our plans just like that! We're supposed to wait for Joonie's signal!

There's no way of changing his mind now. The boy he loves came for him and it won't take long before he finds himself in danger. Yoongi tries to understand while he can't help to be amazed by Kook's strength. The younger opens the cage by bending the bars just enough to walk past them. They'll have to fight before time and hope for Joonie to be okay meanwhile.

A light reaches Yoongi's eyes making him look up and finally noticing the ship they belong to just a few meters form this one. He can't help to pray for Jimin not to get involved in the fight. Next to him, Kook fights hurting a few of the aliens. He's not strong enough to kill them, not even after all these years of training against big animals on his planet. The idea of death is more present than ever. He doesn't mind losing his life away from his home, from his family, killed by strangers he never talked to. But if that's gonna happen he has a promise to keep. He can die but the boy he loves has to survive no matter what. That's all he cares for.

It's a whole challenge to get to Tae and he can't do it unharmed. But even a few new scars he gets to him. The green eyed alien avoided the conflict the best he could. Being a prey most of his life came in handy in a situation like this one. And considering last time he came across those creatures he was about to die made him extra careful. Holding his hand, Kook feels that warm feeling on his chest he was never able to suppress. He guides him back to the cell and gets Tae inside before closing the same bars he had separated a few minutes earlier.

- What are you doing?!

- Keeping you safe. This will buy you enough time for the Captain to come rescue you. Keep pretending, Pak'thra. Your eyes are beautiful even in this body

He shows him one more smile before going back to fight. Pretending to be strong even though he has more than one scar starting to bleed after the last minutes of struggle. And before Tae can answer he's back doing what he knows best. Fight with honor, because dying against a stronger opponent is the way his life is supposed to end...

Chapter Text

Namjoon stares at the table filled with horrible looking food in front of which he was told to sit. He knows that if his eyes look up he'll find his worst ever enemy sitting there. He wants to be brave enough to face him but the fear is taking over all his senses. Even if he doesn't regret his decision to come here he still feels his muscles tense, his hands forming fists over his knees, his stomach giving him signals of wanting to throw up. Donghae, the Captain of this creepy ship, breaks the silence.

- I know, I know. These morons aren't the best at making meals. But they kept me alive with this crap for ten years so I got used to it.

- Mhm...

- Oh c'mon! No need to act mute now that you're here! I can still remember clearly how your voice sounded when you cried over the idiot of Kim in that ship.

- He wasn't an idiot.

- He left behind the chance to be rich and famous just to follow some dumb rules.

- Heechul was a good person! And you were supposed to be his best friend, he trusted you!

- Hey! I tried to convince him! We could've shared the diamonds! He's the one that chose law over friendship. So technically we could say he started it!

Not even he believes his own excuses. His dramatic emotions are only an act anyone can see through. Truth is Donghae had a lot of envy saved for the man that used to be his Captain for a long time. Heechul was always so correct, so perfect, so special and loved. He hated it. Seeing how easily he could reject corruption only made Donghae feel like the villain of the story and at the end he decided to embrace that role.

- Donghae, killing him and all our crew... it's the reason why you ended up lost and alone. Don't you regret it?

- Excuse me?! I'm not alone nor lost. I'm surrounded by these brainless monkeys that do everything I say.

One of those big creatures walks up to the table and serves more food and wine. He has no idea he's being insulted. He never talked the way humans do. None of them talk. Even Donghae is losing his accent sounding less educated and smart than 10 years ago. The time affected him in ways he didn't expect and what started as a plan to be rich became an obsession that drove him insane.

- Ten years with these creatures. Ten years of darkness, Donghae. Couldn't you let it go? Just go back to Earth and confess what you did? Face the consequences?

- Do you think I'm an imbecile?

- I think you're something much worse than that

- I would never return to my beloved Earth empty handed. Not when the treasure was so close all along...

He takes Nam's hands and a smile appears on his face. His eyes can barely focus on the fact he finally has him in front of him again and the alien feels how his heart freezes with fear. Donghae can see how scared he is and pulls away laughing. He likes being the owner of his nightmares. He likes knowing he terrorized him for 10 long years. That the other couldn't scream, cry out loud, or even say his own name all this time. He serves him some food that has a horrible smell and a green color that produces disgust as soon as you see it.

- No...thanks

- You think it's poison, don't you? Don't worry, I need you alive. I know it looks like shit but the taste is not as bad as you believe

- Why are you so calm? You know I could tell the truth to the humans once we get to earth.

- You could but you won't. Because you know what your problem is? You never learn. You don't realize I'm capable of destroying everything you love. Like I did with your family. Like I did with Heechul. You should know by now what happens to people around you

- There's no one you can kill anymore. I don't have anyone.

- Oh, really? 'Cause I've been told back in their planet you were saved by a tall man of wide shoulders that looks a lot like my old friend

- H-How did...were you there?

- It's just what the rumors say

- These aliens couldn't tell you anything about it, they didn't take the pill to talk like me

- Hahahahaha pills sure make things easier! But if you have the brains to understand them without it, you can manipulate them much better

Nam can't help but to think about Yoongi. The only other person he knew that could interpret aliens that easily. But unlike this man, Yoongi would never use his skills for evil. He knows Donghae is telling the truth and he won't pull back from the idea of killing the only people he has left. To just think of losing Jin his deep voice comes out angrier than ever as he slams the hands on the table.

- You won't lay a single finger on my friends

- Aw Nam, you're much braver than when you were a kid. But you have to be smarter and realize when it's time to give up.

The alien wants to have some trust on himself and believe he can protect Jin without ending up as this guy's slave. In front of him, Donghae starts drinking his wine when something calls his attention. What used to be a silent atmosphere is now starting to get filled with the clear sounds of a fight. With a silent signal, the Captain of this ship sends one of the creatures to take a look outside. Meanwhile, he opens the curtain of every window in that room until he finally sees the problem.

- I guess more people got invited to our little party, huh

Nam takes a look at the last window only to see the friendly ship near this one. He prays to his own gods for his friends to turn around and not get involved but the feeling of his stomach turning is impossible to stop. He knows the scandal outside means more than one already got on the ship to rescue them even if they lose their lives trying to do so.

- They'll take care of them. You're coming with me.

- No, let me go!

Donghae holds Nam by the wrist trying to drag him to his room where he can keep him locked for the rest of the trip. He spent too many years on this mission and he's finally close to succeed. The alien isn't strong enough to get loose on his own. However, he manages to escape him with the help of someone else. When Donghae turns around he finds a short man with black hair. A short man as addicted to rules as Heechul was and that shares the same rank as him.

- Wow, Earth's Captain's have a soft spot for Nam I guess.

- A good Captain must protect his crew, not destroy it

- You sound like Heechul. And you'll end up like him as well...

Both of them face each other ready to fight. With and without honor they're ready to take the other's life. And at the end only one of them will remain standing.

Chapter Text

To no one's surprise the first one to throw a punch is Donghae. Even though Jimin was never trained to fight, he managed to avoid being hit with a fast move. He knows how to move gracefully and the few years of his youth he spent dancing gave his body an upper hand. The biggest problem is to attack back, something that never came out naturally out of him.

Despite being able to avoid every punch he finds himself taking several steps back cornering himself against the wall. Behind him he can hear his men fight those huge creatures on the other part of the ship. If he wants to go out to help he has to finish this first. He has very few chances to attack and most of them would mean putting himself in danger of taking a hit back. But he can't keep backing up so there's no choice.

When Donghae prepares for a new punch, Jimin finally strikes. The feeling on his knuckles as he hits him feels strange to him. He knows if the other could he would shoot him. But he's been most likely out of bullets for several years now.

- Captain, now!

The strange deep voice makes him look around. The alien he always knew as Joonie is holding Donghae back. But he's not doing so with his own arms. Instead, he made a small cut on his hand letting the blood spread and creating out of it a beautiful plant with white tiny flowers. It's one of those that covered the destroyed ship they found. And this time is that very plant that starts to take over the room and wraps around Donghae's hands keeping a hold of him for now.

Jimin takes the chance to repeatedly attack the other captain, recovering some advantage. However, that man has lived with violent creatures on a dark and hostile planet for almost ten years. If there's one thing he knows how to do is to get away from trouble. With all his strength he manages to get loose from those plants trying to keep him in place. He takes the bottle of wine from the table and smashes the bottom of it against the table. The sharp edges should be enough to take Jimin's life. He wants to see him dead. He wants Nam to realize what will happen to everyone if he doesn't cooperate.

Having no choice but to keep stepping back, he backs down passing the door frame. He finds himself surrounded by an unwanted battle between humans and aliens. The creatures are taking the upper hand and he can't help them yet.

- As the great Captain you are, you'll die with the rest of your crew

- No!

Once more, someone intervenes between them. Yoongi couldn't be able to hurt a fly but he'll try his best to keep his Jiminie safe. By this point, Donghae is getting sick of all these brave idiots.

- Do you all enjoy dying for each other that much?

- You wouldn't know anything about it. No one would ever risk anything for you

Donghae doesn't feel bothered or provoked. He has no problem knowing he has no friends. He already has the only thing he's obsessed with. Nam is still on his ship and by his side he has enough strong creature that won't let him lose this battle. Even when fighting together, Jimin and Yoongi end up cornered. This time with no way out. Surrounded by blind aliens that won't allow anyone to get close and help. In front of them, Donghae is holding the bottle that already has blood on the edges from the few cuts he managed to cause them.

- Any last wishes before I kill you both?

- Please, let my Jiminie live. This was my idea, you can take me if you want

- Yoongi shut up, I'm not leaving without you and the rest

- Awwww you two are adorable~ But sadly you're also idiots who decided to mess with me. And now you'll have to deal with it.

Yoongi sees a small chance of victory shine through those menacing words. The plan they originally had changed a lot but it might still work...He fakes a confident smile as he talks pretending not to be scared. His legs are actually shaking but he tries to hide it.

- Hey! We're not idiots! We're almost as smart as your crew!

Donghae tries to process the words before exploding in a loud laughter. Nothing had ever caused him to laugh this hard. It's the most fun he had in 10 years. He's so focused on controlling the tears of joy coming out of his eyes that he can't notice the subtle silence starting to appear around him. The battle starting to become less and less chaotic by his side.

- My crew?! Hahahahahaha They're a bunch of brainless monsters who would do anything I say! And you say you're "almost" as smart as them?! Hahahaha That's like saying you're absolute trash, kid. And I guess I'll have to take care of a piece of garbage like you

Still trying to hold in some of that laughter, he takes a step forward ready to stab Yoongi. Jimin can't stop his impulse and gets in the middle hugging his best friend like his life depends on it. He rathers die himself before seeing the other hurting. But even if he's ready to feel a sharp pain, it doesn't arrive. Nothing does. The only thing touching him are Yoongi's arms wrapped around his waist as he whispers softly with clear relief.

- It worked...

When he turns around, Jimin can see one of those creatures using two of their arms to hold Donghae still. There's no care in the action of doing so, which is obvious from the blood coming out of the forming wound. And it's not the only one. Many of those aliens are coming closer with a violent aura surrounding them, leaving behind the humans they were fighting just seconds ago.

- What's going on?! Are you all stupid?!

Donghae tries his best to make a signal they can understand but no one obeys this time. His words have a bigger impact than his signs. Yoongi talks this time with a real smile on his face.

- Good thing about speaking an universal language is that hiding the truth gets much more difficult

Confused, Donghae looks around him. They have never understood him and his human language. That's the way things have been. But it all changed several minutes ago. When Yoongi changed his mints for pills. Just like they planned, they ate some of them in front of the aliens and just like Tae did weeks ago, the creatures copied him eating them as well. Sure, the idea was for all of them to take the pill but with the few that did was enough for the plan to work.

It's his own crew of aliens who want to take care of his destiny. Desperate to change it, Donghae looks around for whoever might help him. Between all the humans he finds a familiar face. Helping Nam come out of his hiding place, there's a tall man that looks similar to who used to be his best friend.

- Jin! Help me! You know I'm not a bad guy, you must remember me Jin! Howany time have I gone to your place with your brother! He was a good man, he wouldn't want you to let me die!

- He was a good man. But I'm not him. I feel no guilt to see you end up like him. Murdered by those that stood by his side for years. But unlike him, no one will even remember your name....

Last thing the Captain of that ship sees is Seokjin walking away without looking back, taking Joonie's hand to take him out of there. His screams of intense pain don't make anyone turn to help. Nam once more slipped away from his fingers, the treasure he was willing to go crazy for is leaving. This time he can't change his destiny and it's too late to even wonder if it was worth it...

Chapter Text

Tae was just as desperate to help as Jimin. The Captain broke every single one of his codes to save his best friend. And that's not to mention Jin who despite being a doctor seemed more than ready to kill whoever hurt his Joonie. However, Tae now finds himself unable to help anyone. He's locked in the cage where Kook left him to be safe. It's true that a single scratch could've made Tae bleed out. His body isn't made for battle. But it feels unfair to see everyone fight as all he can do is scream and cry. He had to see how Kook got more and more hurt with every passing minute.

The whole fight felt like it lasted one hundred years. His throat hurts from screaming his name every few seconds. His legs were shaking most of the time until the moment comes when the fight ends and someone opens the cage. He runs out, almost tripping on his own feet from wanting them to go faster. Everyone moves away from his path because they know he has a specific destination. Several meters away, on top of a puddle of blood, Kook lays unconscious. Sure, some of that blood belongs to his enemies, but the bright red color of his is still tainting it all so he knows it's his as well.

- Kook! Kook wake up! Get up, c'mon!

Those dark eyes stay closed and no matter how much he tries he can't pick him up from the floor. Desperate, he leans forward and puts his head against his chest trying to hear his heart. It's still beating which makes him react almost immediately with hope.

- Quick! Help him! Please!

The creatures around him get closer with care. Not only because they can understand him perfectly. But even if they couldn't, that desperate tone of voice and those tears streaming down his cheeks are obvious enough. They know the alien on the floor is a true warrior and a worthy enemy. They can't deny him their help so they pick him up to take him back to the ship. Jin guides them together with Joonie. Only once he's back in his workroom he can start helping with the wounds.

Jin spends over two hours with Kook on the bed, trying his best to keep him alive while Tae refuses to wait outside. They manage to stop the bleeding but he's not back to consciousness yet. He looks so pale, so weak, so filled with scars that it hurts just to see him. Some of the wounds are so deep it's surprising he's still alive.

- That's all I can do for him

- How is he now? He'll be okay, right?

- His species never heals despite having the power to do so. His pride won't allow him to save himself.

- And...what will happens then?

- All we can do is wait. Although...

His tone is enough to know what he can't dare to say. Something inside Jin is stopping him from delivering those bad news. The lump in his throat makes him choke his tears knowing the strong alien might never open his eyes again. He considers him a friend and losing him would be devastating. Giving Tae some space, he stays in the opposite corner of the room. Even though he wants to give him some privacy, he still needs to be there in case anything happens. If the boy wants to have a calm goodbye this is the moment for it. However, Tae does the exact opposite of that.

- If you don't heal I'm gonna kill you, imbecile. You can't leave me alone again. I can't erase you from my head like I did with all those hurtful moments of the past. I can't take you out of my mind now. I swear to Pari, Kook I've never been this angry at you. I fucking hate you. I hate you because...because you made a promise. You promised you'd always be with me. That you'd always care for me. You didn't have to give up. You didn't have to leave my side and risk your life. You had to stay with me. Isn't that what you wanted? For us to be together? Then why don't you heal?  Fuck your pride. Fuck your honor. Wasn't I your Pak'thra? I know what that is, Kook. I'm not as dumb as you think. I'm your destiny, your other half. You can't leave before me. I would never forgive you. You have to live. You have to heal. I'll trust you no matter what. Let me have my Pak'thra back...please...I wanna be with you for the rest of my life

No more words come out of his mouth, even if he tries all he can do is cry hiding his face on the other's chest. He hugs him softly, touching the bandages, wishing things were different. Suddenly, Kook's hand touches his arm ready to hug him back. Looking back up Tae stays in shock. Kook's eyes are still closed but his tiny smile lets him knows he's awake. He doesn't have much energy left but he makes sure to use it to activate his powers. Little by little, all his wounds heal. They close, they disappear, even the oldest ones from past battles.

- Kook...

- I have to live to spend my life with you. I'll choose you over honor or pride with no regrets, my everything

Tae can finally hug him harder knowing he won't hurt him for it. And while his arms make sure to keep him close, his lips make sure he'll stay forever. The kiss is mostly an impulse from Tae after seeing him smiling, alive, healthy. But of course there's more than that. It's like sealing a promise to never be away again. And Kook feels his life making sense again. This is what humans describe as butterflies in his stomach, making him believe every flower on the universe just bloomed as soon as their lips met. This is all he needs. It's an honor to have him by his side. It's his pride to call him his other half.

- Thank you...for coming back to me

- Thank you, for asking me to stay

Sweet words and kisses start escaping them as they seem to never get enough of this feeling. Only now Jin decides it's time to leave the room and let them enjoy the moment. Besides, now he can relax a little and talk to a different and lovely alien...
