It’s not like he ever wanted to break up with Sirius. That had never been part of the plan. In fact, it was quite the opposite. He knew—as far back as their teenage years, when their love was still new and fragile and hidden away—that he would marry Sirius someday. This time last year, he was looking for the perfect ring. He didn’t mean for everything to fall apart, and he still can’t quite figure out who to blame.
There has to be someone to blame though, right? Perfect things don’t just end. That’s not how the story is supposed to go. But everything changed so suddenly and without warning that Remus didn’t get a chance at damage control before Sirius was halfway across the planet selling out stadiums and making the whole world fall in love with him, because who couldn’t love Sirius Black?
