Fashionista gives Local Nerd Better Fashion Sense

Work Text:

“Sorry Coco, I’m super busy right now!”

Paulina walked out of the room with her laptop by her side.

Oh well… She did have a project she needed to work on.
Colette couldn’t blame her, especially when she herself had a bad habit of procrastinating.

“I have violin lessons to give today, remember?” Violet said when Colette asked her, zipping up her violin case.

What was Colette to do?

Nicky was already out and wouldn’t be back for hours, Paulina and Violet has stuff to do, and Pam…
She just straight up told her no.

What was Colette trying to do?

Well, she learned some new techniques, and she wanted to try them out.
At least that’s what she told herself.

In reality, she just wanted to play dress up with her new additions to her wardrobe.

She looked around.
“Come on Coco! Who can you…”

Her eyes fell on one mouse.
The perfect victim.

“Oh Shen~! Could I borrow you for a second?”

“Um, sure, you need help with your laptop again?” Shen asked, following Colette into her room.

Big mistake, my man.

“No, I need to…run some things by you.”

“Sure! New outfits I’m assuming? Where can I see them? Are they laid out, or do you have a mannequin…” Shen trailed off.

It was then, when he saw Colette’s look of mischievous glee, that he realized what her intentions were.

“Oh. I’m the mannequin.”

Colette nodded.
“Now let’s get started!”

“Oh Crust Almighty…”

The time was now 4 pm, and Nicky was coming back from her day’s hike.
“Woo! That was awesome! I mean sure, I fell into two rivers and I had to scare off a bear, but it went great! Definitely gonna trek there again! Now let’s see what Coco’s up to, I heard she wanted to ask me something…”

Nicky knocked then opened the door to Colette’s dorm.
“Hey Coco! Oh hi Shen!”

“Hi…”

“Just in time, Nicky!
What do you think?”

Colette turned Shen around to show off his new outfit.
A deep red velvet cocktail dress with a split thigh, accompanied by a fluffy white coat, looking almost like a boa.

“That is amazing, I gotta take a picture!”

“Nicky! Please!”

“What? You look so pretty! Craig’s gonna love it!”

As embarrassed as he was, all Shen could do was stand there, face red and flustered.

“I thought you liked skirts?” Colette asked.

“I do, but this is different…! Skirts are casual, they’re nice, but I’m not used to wearing something so…”

“Sexy?”

“Yeah… Especially when I look like I came straight out of a Nerd Chic magazine most of the time!” Shen cried.

“Getting rid of the bowl cut did help.” Nicky brought up.

“It really did. You look so much nicer with just your bangs!”

“Thanks, I’m glad… But still! I- I shouldn’t be wearing this…! It’s not meant for someone like me! Someone else should wear this, not some dork…!”

“Oh hush! It looks so good on you! You’re just not used to seeing yourself in those kinds of clothes.
Why don’t we fix that, shall we?”

“Colette…!”

But Shen’s whining did him no good, he was roped into trying many more outfits. Some more masculine, some more feminine, all just like that dress. Classy, yet sexy.

After the final outfit was put on, Colette faced Shen with a pensive look.

She was also shown the pictures that Nicky had taken.

She nodded thoughtfully while mumbling.

“So…what now?” Shen asked.
He was ready to be done now… He just wanted his plaid back, no matter how dorky it looked.

“The velvet dress?”

“Oh definitely, the others can’t even compare!”

“Mind filling me in?”

“Okay so… There’s something I forgot to tell you…” Colette admitted with a sheepish laugh.
“Me and the girls were invited to a fancy dinner party up in a chateau in Canada. And…they told us they could bring a plus one…”

“Don’t tell me…”

“Yeah, we needed to get you a new outfit for the occasion. It was really lucky you were there earlier! Otherwise I would’ve had to put something together at the last minute!” Colette explained.

“What’s wrong with my suit?”

“Do you want that list in alphabetical order or in order of importance?” Nicky asked, crossing her arms.

“For instance, it’s brown! Brown!” Colette cried.

“Am I really going to wear that dress in front of dozens of people I don’t even know? I’ll probably look like a fool! I’m not curvy or really any kind of attractive-”

“Oh, don’t be so modest! You looked absolutely perfect! I promise it’ll be fine!”

“Well, you’re the fashion expert…”

“Thank you! Now pack your bags! We’re going to Canada tomorrow morning!”

“What?!”
