Chapter Text
The drive to drop Sanji off at his place was quiet for about 5 minutes before I couldn't take it anymore.
“Sooooo-”
“Don't fucking start.”
I look over when we stop at a red light to see his cheeks are slightly flushed and he is resolutely not making eye contact.
“Oh I am so starting.”
I hear my friend groan from the passenger seat, out of the corner of my eye I see him drop his head into his waiting hands.
“Your boss is a conniving menace.” There is a whinging tint to his voice that makes the muffled sound all the funnier.
I bark out a laugh before responding.
“A- Don’t call him that. B- yes, continue.”
He lifts his head to look at me but the light has long since turned green so I can do nothing more than spare him a glance.
“So, you left to go get drinks right.” I hum my affirmation.
“That's about when Ace walked out into the living room- fine piece of ass that one by the way-”
“BACK ON TRACK!”
He jumps a little before openly laughing to the look on my face that is no doubt stormy.
“Ok ok, so. He takes one look at me, I think he looked at Zoro too but the whole experience is a blur.” he sighs before continuing, “but anyway, he takes one look at me and fucking whistles!”
“No!” I say only half mocking.
“Yes!” He yells not at all catching my mocking tone.
“Then he said something along the lines of ‘didnt know you had such cute friends luffy, ur holdin out on me’ or something like that.”
“Oh, I see. The plant got jealous!”
He turns his whole body towards me so fast I feel the car shake with his enthusiasm.
There's the gossip I know and love.
“Katie- you don't understand. It was so hottttt. The look he gave him?? Oh my goddd.”
I swear I heard the chef moan a bit when he said god.
“So you had quite the night!” I can feel his happiness radiating and it's making me all warm and fuzzy inside.
“That's not even the best part!” he's bouncing in his seat now.
“Oh, do tell.”
He takes a deep breath in, preparing himself.
“He said, word for word by the way, this will be etched in my brain till I die.”
He dropped his tone poorly imitating the actor.
“Luffy knows not to advertise what's taken”
“No!”
“YES!!”
“Then the brute grabs me by the arm and sits me down next to him. Then he proceeded to glare at your designer till you came back.”
It takes me a second to process all of this but while doing so I can't wipe the smile off my face.
“Well I’ll be damned,” I let out a light chuckle. “The dick is good for something.”
Without missing a beat and without a shred of humor in his voice Sanji replies,
“The dick is good for a lot of things katie.”
“HAH!”
One thing I will always cherish about Sanji is his ability to make me laugh.
“Well casanova, we have arrived.”
I pull into Sanji’s driveway and turn to look at him.
“Thanks for the ride, kitten.”
I give him a soft smile, internally mourning my sex life.
“Try to sleep. I know it'll be hard with all the jerking off to your boyfriend your gonna want to do-” “Hey!” “shhh- but try to rest”
He has a defiant look on his face but it's fond.
All the malice drops and so do his shoulders. He reaches up and pats my head.
“I will try,” he pauses but I can feel that he has more to say.
“You should- maybe stop being so defensive. You know, when it comes to new people.”
“I am not defensive!” I huff.
He shuts me up with a look that implies that he just proved his point.
He lifts his hand and opens the door to leave.
“I'm just saying Katie. I know it may feel like it, but not everyone has bad intentions”
I eye him curiously.
“What brought this on?”
He gives me a knowing sideways glance.
“No reason, well bonsoir Katie!”
What a weird way to end a weird night.
