Chapter Text
The world “What’s Real” takes place in a universe between the show “Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared” and the real world. After the show ended (Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared) all the puppets who were controlled in that show (or just trapped) got freedom and were able to actually make decisions for themselves, choosing what to do with their lives. Even though they now have a mind of their own they still have their puppet bodies/forms. They also still have all their memories from the show they were stuck in and all still live in the same house. Most of the teachers have to learn how to control their bodies normally now because unlike the main three they had zero control over their thoughts or movements, the only thing they could do was view all their acts and actions without being able to stop themselves nor stop. The main three try their best to help and guide the teachers but still feel very uneasy about them, sceptical about their actions and couches. The teachers also have to figure out new emotions and how to use them appropriately, the main three also have some struggles with new emotions(mainly because they were so busy focusing on fear and nothing else) They all still question their existence and still wonder what’s real and if that the forms they’re in currently is what they’re supposed to be. The characters still don’t have any explanation to the show they were stuck in, making them all uneasy but they all tried to focus on the world they were in currently and not the past. The thought always crept onto them every now and then.
Lesley, the one who made the show in the first place, made it out of grief and sorrow. Years ago when she lived in the real world she had a husband(Roy) and kid(David/Yellow). After both of them dying in a car accident she was devastated, not accepting their death and choosing to make a new world for them, in the form of puppets. She didn’t want the two to live alone though, so she decided to get other peoples souls and hearts/minds to be able to get more puppets in her husbands and sons world. She decided to go out and make deals with people in need of a job or just needing help, telling them that they’ll be able to start a new life way greater then the one they already have. Taking their minds and souls, stuffing them into big bags of stuffing and turning them into the people in her husbands and sons world. After years of working on this she made a kid show, but everything got out of hand when the magic she used started getting a bit too strong, corrupting the characters and their minds, the only characters that weren’t corrupted too badly were her son and his two friends she gave him. But everything got much worse from that point on. The characters started becoming more aware of where they were and what was happening around them, making the world Lesley made for break and crumble into something she couldn’t control. Freeing everyone from the strings that were controlling them yet they still weren’t human, just a world very similar to reality. The puppets still didn’t have memories from when they were human, only the memories from the children show that traumatized them all.
After they all became free and set loose into a world that could get them all killed Lesley immediately got worried for her son, not wanting him to get hurt in this new world she had no control over. She decided to make the decision to create a beast/virus. A creature that would be able to take control over peoples minds and follow their commands. But once doing so Lesley realized it was a bad idea as the virus would start doing its own thing and causing more chaos than fixing it.

Chapter 2: This can’t be too bad, right?
Summary:
Out of that confusing horrible nightmare. What was all that? What was this new world they all lived in now? What was going on?! The main three still had a cautious feeling about the past teachers, still not fully trusting them, but they didn’t seem to be trying to do any harm and they seemed just as frightened as the others were so… maybe they were trustable? Who knew… Let’s all just- rest…
Notes:
The first chapter of this story! The story will have cuts here and there and if I get motivation I might start adding in drawings just to better help the readers to understand the surroundings and what’s happening, but for now this is the first chapter, idk how much I’ll get done and sorry if there’s a few spelling mistakes I’m trying my beat :|

Chapter Text
A quiet slow morning, felt the same as the past but- less stressful and fearful at least.
Yellow and Duck were sitting at the table they always sat at, still unnerved and full of questions. As Duck sat there reading the newspaper and Yellow sat playing and picking at his breakfast, Red guys stood in the back, cleaning up a few dishes from the previous night.
A lot happened yesterday, especially with all the teachers. The teachers still lived in this house with them but- … They felt more like people now. That made Duck and Yellow a little more easy around them but Red still had his suspicions, and who wouldn’t? Years of torture and pain from those guys and all the sudden just from one big white bang of light sending them all to this way more… calm and open world, all the sudden good? That’s absurd! … But they did seem at least a little more… normal… Last night they were acting like vicious animals who were starving, it didn’t take long before everything edible in the house was eaten from the hungry teachers who seemed to have not eaten food in years and- for all they knew, they didn’t.
Yellow Guy was tapping his fingers on his fork before looking up at Red.
”Red?” The younger puppet spoke up, getting a side glance from the older.
”Yes, Yellow?” Red replied with his usual tired and thick British accent.
”Do you… trust them?” Yellow asked. Without having to name Red knew who he was talking about.
”No… Not really if I’m gonna be honest… Where are they anyways…?” He asked, looking around the room to see if he could spot one of them which he didn’t.
“They were all tired yesterday and fell asleep quite quickly, if I had to guess they’re all still sleeping…” Duck chimed in, explaining.
“Oh, well at least they’re not bothering us…” The tall puppet chuckled slightly, glad that the teachers weren’t pestering him and his friends like usual.
”Oh don’t be so rude, they probably went through as much shit as we did!” Duck spoke in a slight defensive tone.
”Though- Never liked those kids… or the kitchen people… or the train- Ok! A lot of them were bad but- … They won’t try anything again… right?” Duck asked, his voice caring a slight hint of caution.
After that question the room went silent, the only sound being the sound of water running from the faucet.
Yellow continued to have his head down at his food before sighting, the tense silence was getting to him.
”M-maybe we should wake them up…” He suggested as he pushed the chair back, getting up from it.
”You sure…?” Red asked, a slight concerned look on his face.
”Y-yeah, they should he up anyways… It’s… already 9 A.M.” He said once looking down at his watch around his wrist, putting it back down and heading towards the stairs.
Duck watched as the yellow puppet made his way up the stairs and once he disappeared from sight he turned to look at Red.
”So… No concerns?”
Right after saying that Red turned off the faucet, whipping his entire body around to look a Duck.
”Of course I have concerns!” He said in a slight rushed and panicked response, not what Duck was expecting.
”… I mean- Sure! Why not just drop us all off in this new wide open world with literally nothing! Why did this happen?! What was the show?! Was any of that real?! …” He shouted loudly in a sarcastic tone, quickly looking drained from the yelling.
”… Red-“
”Now listen- … I know most of us probably want to move on from our past but… What happened we can’t just- move on… We need some kind of explanation… There has to be some kind… Right?” He questioned, looking at Duck.
”… We’ll see… We’ll find an answer… Eventually…” He responded in a low tone, his voice more shaky.
Yellow guy made his way to the room he last remembered seeing the teachers in. He pushed open the door and found the soft glow of floating stars… How did they get here?
Looking around he found the teachers all still sleeping, some on the wall, some on desks and some were even sleeping in real beds.
Yellow reached forward, taking one of the stars in his hands… Interesting… It didn’t weigh anything. Putting it back and having it float around the room, Yellow looked around, a slight hesitation to wake any of the teachers up.
after a few seconds of debating he walked up to the small notebook, slowly reaching forward and poking at it.
”Uhh… Hello? … Are you awake?” He asked in a low and gentle tone before hearing a small sound come from her.
”Huhh…” She groaned as her eyes fluttered open.
Yellow immediately backed up once seeing her wake up, taking a few steps back before stopping, memories already flooding back to him…
“O-oh… it’s you… the yellow kid…” She said, sitting up and blinking a bit, adjusting her eyes to the small beams of light coming from the stars.
”Y-yes… Just thought that I would… Wake you up, since it’s morning and all…”
All he got in response to that was a slight nod, seemed like she was a bit unnerved from his presents just as much as he was of hers.
”… Thanks…” She responded, her voice low and quiet.
”Could you- … Wake up the others…? I don’t- … feel comfortable doing so…” He explained, nervously fidgeting with the buttons on his overalls.
”… Sure… I can do that…” She responded, running her small hand through her big puffy rainbow hair.
”Y-yeah uhh… the other two are downstairs so just- … come down whenever you feel like it…” He said, immediately going to the door and leaving, not wanting to be in that room for any longer then necessary.
Mable watched as the young kid left the room, leaving her alone with all the other sleeping teachers.
She sighed, sitting up fully and stretching her small limbs. She stood up on the desk she was sleeping on, her two slim legs able to keep her standing pretty well. She looked around the room before hopping over to the light switch. With one flick up the lights turned on.
She herself groaned at the light, adjusting her eyes again to it as it started slowly hearing the low irritation groans from the others.
The first one to wake up was the clock Tony, he sat up and grumbled. His eyes squinted as he adjusted to the strong light. He rubbed them and blinked a few times before realizing his surroundings.
“You up clock guy?” The notebook asked, getting a sharp glare from him.
”What does it look like? Yes I’m up!” He groaned, having an attitude. Not something Mable was too found of but, oh well.
A few other teachers also started slowly waking up and sitting up on their sleeping spots, others tried to hide their sensitive eyes to the bright light and fall back to sleep.
Mable walked over to the blinds and opened them, taking a look outside… something she didn’t remember having before.
Grass, trees, flowers and even in the distance you could see a city. She had only remembered mountains surrounding this house but now… there was something interesting.
It didn’t take long before another teacher walked over, a computer head, and looked out towards the city.
”Well damn… You think… other people like us live there…?” He asked, taking a look at the tall buildings.
”… Maybe…? I mean- what would all those houses be for if they weren’t for other puppets…?” She asked, turning back to look at the others as they woke up.
There were these two puppets who seemed excited to get up. A small boy and girl with blond hair. The two sprung up and around the room, a few teachers groaning at their behavior.
“At least they seem… unfazed?” Mabel mumbled in a half joking tone.
Steve, probably the tallest teacher stood up from his bed, walking over to the two children and picked them up by the back of the shirt.
”You two, enough of that, it’s early and I don’t have the strength to deal with this…” He groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Oh, you’re no fun!” The young girl pouted, crossing her arms as her brother looked over in amusement, looking back and copping her by crossing his arms and pouting.
The steak sighed, setting the two down.
“Can you at least do that downstairs?” He asked, tilting his head while putting his hands on his hips.
The two young kids thought for a bit before smiling and nodding.
”Ok!” The two twins said in unison before rushing out the door, slamming it open and tumbling down the stairs, making a lot of ruckus.
”For god sake-“ He started in a slight concerned and worried tone before rushing out to see if the two kids were alright.
In the meantime the other teachers tried to get up and wake themselves up, wondering why they couldn’t be as enthusiastic as Todney and Lily.
”God the sun is bright…” Tracey groaned, looking out the window and looking away again.
”Well duh! The sun is the hottest planet in the solar system! It’s not even technically a planet! It’s a star! And did you know stars-“ Before Colin could finish Tracey interrupted.
”God you’re such a nerd…” She said sitting up and stretching.
”Wha- Hey! I’m not a nerd! Sorry I’m more informed then you!” He snarled back. His defense dying down in the distance as he walked after the electric box out of the room, arguing with her.
Larry, who seemed to be the only one still asleep was shaken awake from the butterfly.
”Wakey-wakey! Time to wake up star friend!” Shrignold spoke in his low but oddly unsettling tone.
The lamps eyes start opening, looking around in confusion. He was hungover from yesterday. He decided to drink after the horrible nightmare he escaped from, and nobody did anything to stop him cause they thought it was reasonable reason to drink.
Downstairs a few of the teachers had already gotten. Duck wanting to great them but immediately backed away once seeing Steve.
“U-uhhh- R-Red- maybe you should-?”
Just the expression on Duck’s face showed that he didn’t like this teacher in particular and had an extra bad experience with them. Red guy who hadn’t interacted with him ever decided to walk up and start a conversation.
“Uhh, excuse me? Steve I heard it was?” Red asked, holding out a hand for a handshake.
He was trying to be as polite as possible, not wanting to get on any of the teachers bad side and risk the potential of getting hurt.
”Hm? Oh! Y-yes, that’s me! And you are…?” He asked, shaking Red’s hand.
”Oh- I’m Red Guy, I’m one of the students but I haven’t been apart of your lesson…” He explained, pulling his hand away. Most of the teachers he knew were shorter then him, so seeing a teacher almost his exact hight was a little intimidating.
”Ah, well- I’d say you’re… lucky… yeah… that’s the word…” He mumbled the last part, his face starting to lose its smile before he shook his head and regained it.
”Well- I bet most lessons were hell, even if I wasn’t in all of them…” He spoke, rubbing his arm awkwardly and trying to make light from the past experience knowing he’d never achieve that.
”Yeah… I heard… Listen- I just wanna say… I’m sorry about all… that…” He knew a simple sorry wouldn’t resolve anything between the teachers and the students but it was a good start, right?
”Y-yeah well… You guys weren’t the only ones who did bad… I can’t confidently say I did good myself…” He said, his voice dropping to a much softer tone.
“Hey! Steak guy!” The young girl shouted, standing next to her brother.
”We’re hungry!” The two said in unison again, most of them found it creepy how they could do that.
”R-right, most of us probably are… Well, I guess I should make something then…” Steve responded, not thinking his lesson should go to waste.
“Actually-“ A more scrappy voice chimed in, looking down it was Duck, he seemed nervous and was playing with his sleeve.
“You teachers ate mostly everything yesterday… We’re low on food…” He hesitated, trying to seem tough and angry but on the inside was nervous and was uneasy.
”Oh right, we did eat quite a lot…” He mumbled, slightly embarrassed at himself.
“But wait- shouldn’t food just reappear in the fridge and cabinets when we’re low on it?” Yellow asked confused. That’s how it worked back then. If they were low on something it would just reappear and they never questioned it, that’s how they knew it was.
”Maybe we need to go out there?” Warren asked, pointing towards the city not to far away
”Why would we need to go there?” Duck asked, his voice way more irritated. He didn’t like Warren.
”Well- It’s like in the game I play! There’s this place called a city and there’s different shops that you can buy stuff in, including food!” Warren explained, feeling proud of himself for being the only one here who knew that.
”Wait- we need to go out to get our stuff now?” An unpleasant look in Red’s eyes grazed his face, hating the idea.
”Well, that’s what you do in the game?” Warren said again, not liking the reaction he got from the others.
“Better question- does anyone here even have money?” The notebook asked, looking confused.
”Oh! I do!” The computer head spoke up, pulling out of his messenger bag that looked like a PC, he pulled out a small, blue card.
”… What’s that?” Everyone in the room asked in unison, a look of confusion and boredom on their faces.
“It’s a credit card! You use it to buy stuff?”
“Isn’t money supposed to be green?” Duck asked.
”And paper?” Mable also questioned, earning an irritated groan from Colin.
”Well, that’s cash! A credit card is linked up to your bank account which holds all your money! So by swiping this you can pay for anything!” Colin horribly explained.
“What do you swipe it on?” The coffin asked, looking just as puzzled as everyone else.
”At stores they usually have this weird phone like thing with numbers-“
“A flip-phone?”
“No- not a flip-phone! Just… Some weird device!” Colin continued trying to explain the credit card but was struggling himself on figuring out how to use one.
“Well! You need a job which gives you the money on your card!” The briefcase chimed in.
”Exactly! He gets it.” Colin said, now having a confident grin on his face.
”Well, do you have a job?” Tracey asked as she lounged on a nearby sofa which was in the other room, being able to see it from the kitchen.
”W-well- no! But-“ Colin immediately loses his cocky smile.
”Then how to do have money on that card, mr. Know it all?” Tracey snickered, leaning back on the cushions.
”Hey! Stop looking so smug!” Colin snapped in irritation, already not liking the electric girl despite only knowing her for like a day.
“Alright, no need for fighting you two, let’s just have out computer friend here show us how it works…” Steve suggested looking over towards Colin.
“Of course! Wait- … Are we going outside? Out there? Outside there?” Colin made several pointing motions towards the window which showcased the outside world they never thought they’d have access to.
Everyone else was equally as surprised at the thought of exploring the outside and seeing a city up close.
”Well, I think this would be good for all of us! A little adventure, huh? It can help keep our minds off of… that stuff- and besides, we need to go out and get food anyways, right?” The steak asked, looking around at all the other puppets and teachers.
”… You guys can go-“ Tony said, immediately getting whines and complains from the others.
”Come on clock guy! If we go you must go too!” Colin said, walking up and slapping Tony’s back, earning a sharp snarl and a dagger glare from the clock.
“I’m why too tired to go outside for a so called ‘adventure’…” He groaned, taking a sip from his coffee mug.
More teachers complained before Colin rolled his eyes, grabbing Tony’s arm.
“H-hey-?!” Tony shouted.
”If you’re not coming then I’ll force you out!” Colin exclaimed as he dragged the smaller man to the front door as the others watched.
”Should we… follow them?” Mable asked, looking at the others.
“As much as I’d like to say no… I think we must…” The train said, his voice raspy and tired, blinking slowly, he probably needs some sunlight.
The other puppets started making their way to the front door, peaking out of it as it was already open from Colin and Tony.
”Woah…” Colin spoke quietly as he was standing outside on the front porch, looking out onto the streets and everything around them.
Big green trees, bushes, all different flowers and houses across the streets and next to them. Cars driving by every now and then and even other puppets walking down the streets.
This was all so new to them, they had no clue what was supposed to be expected.
Before any of them could do anything another puppet walks up to them, a small ghost.
”Hi! You must be the new neighbors?” She said excitedly, walking up to Colin and Tony.
Colin having a surprised and curious look on his face while Tony had a surprised and irritated one.
”My name is Lumer! I live just across from you guys!” She said enthusiastically, taking Colin’s hand and shaking it.
“O-oh? Well- it’s nice to meet you too…” Colin said, a bit caught off guard by the sudden friendly greeting and the completely nonchalant attitude.
”Neighbor…?” Yellow asked, looking up at Red with a confused expression.
”… We’re apart of a community…?” He continued, looking almost… Happy?
“Seems like it…” Red responded, looking around in confusion before stepping out of the house, taking in the sight around him.
”Well! I’ll be hoping to see you guys later! I gotta go meet up with some friends! But catchya later!” She said happily before running off down the streets.
The other puppets looked on in complete confusion. Was that… normal? They all thought to themselves as they watched her run off.
More of the puppets started stepping outside and taking in the scenery, looking in awe.
“That was- … Odd… to say the least…” Tony said, shaking his head as he stood next to Colin who just watched in complete awe.
”… I love this place…”
That caught everyone’s attention. Everyone looking over towards Colin who had a soft smile on his face while his eyes sparkled.
“… What do you mean you ‘love it here’? We just got here?” Tony asked, looking mildly confused and irritated.
”If this place is nothing like whatever world we were living in before… I can get behind that… It looks so… nice and welcoming… I want to meet new people! And new friends!” Colin exclaimed excitedly, running over to the streets.
”Oh don’t start pulling the sap card on us now!” Tracey exclaimed jokingly, walking over to him.
“What? You can’t disagree that this isn’t better then anything we’ve seen before! This is spectacular!” He shouted happily as he started running down the streets towards the city in the distance.
”W-woah! Hey now! Let’s all stick together so we don’t get lost!” Tracey said, chasing after the computer.
Some of the other teachers chuckled at the sight while others were still in awe of everything around them and what was happening.
The others started following the two down the streets. Colin looking around in amazement, pointing out every single detail as a few others watched his excitement. Some were just enjoying the scenery and the warmth of the sun. Others were less appealed to be outside but still had their curios glint in their eyes.
Once making it down to the city that’s when they all started to get even more curious. Several puppets walked the streets, entering shops and exiting, some alone and some with friends as they all walked around, enjoying themselves and minding their own business.
The others were surprised and impressed to say the least. They had never seen anything like this before, they were all staring to wonder if any of it was real. Out of all of them, Colin had the most amazement in his expression, completely frozen in shock.
”Is… He ok?” Creak asked, looking back at the briefcase who just shrugged, a small smile on his face, just as amazed as everyone else.
“Do you think… that all these other puppets went through the same stuff we did…?” Shrignold asked, looking around at all the puppets.
”I’m not sure… They all seem way too unbothered in my opinion…” Fred replied, looking around himself.
”Alright! But our main mission is to get food! … How about- I go get the food and you guys explore? How does that sound…?” Steve asked, looking over at Colin who looked confused before realizing what he wanted. Reaching into his bag he pulled out his credit card and handed it to the steak.
”I want it back!” Colin said, giving a warming glare.
”Yes, I’ll give it back, don’t worry…” Steve said reassuringly before Colin nodded.
“Can we come with?” The two twins asked, looking up at Steve.
”O-oh well-“
“I’ll come then too if their going with you…” Fred said, holding Sofi.
Steve was a bit surprised by how many wanted to follow him to the supermarket but just nodded, gesturing for them to follow him.
They had left and now Colin was already looking around and running all over the place, the others quickly lost track of him.
”… Guys… Where did Colin go?” Yellow asked, looking around frantically to see if he spotted him anywhere.
”For fuck sake- This is gonna be a common trope for him I just know it…” Tracey grumbled, Mable chuckling a bit at her comment.
“Hey, how about you guys go have fun and we’ll go looking for Colin?” Creak asked, gesturing to him and Bruce.
”Huh? O-oh, sure! I can help with looking for him…” Bruce said softly, his British accent thick.
”Ok then, you two go look for him, once found, come back here, ok? I think Thomas will be staying here just to rest…” Red spoke, Yellow and Duck standing quite near.
The coffin and briefcase nodded before going off in search of their computer friend.
”Hmm… Hey you!” Mable pointed towards Tracey.
“Huh? Yeah little one?” She asked, turning to look at the shorter girl with rainbow hair.
”We should be friends!” Mable declared simply, Tracey looking at her in confusion.
”… Why?” She asked, looking down at it.
”Well- because we’re like the only women here! And you look creative!” Mable chuckled, not scared to give out compliments.
”Oh, well thanks, you have some spunk to you too…” Tracey said, a soft smile grazing her lips.
“Thanks! I never thought I had spunk! … Whatever that means.”
Tracey looked around the place before her eyes settled on something.
”What about him?” Tracey asked, pointing towards Larry.
”Oh, Larry? What about him?” Mable raised an eyebrow, looking at Tracey.
”Should he join our little group?”
“But he’s not a girl?” Mable said, crossing her arms, wanting the group to be specifically for girls.
”yeah but, he’s also got spunk. He can make floating stars and did you see him chug all that beer yesterday? That was kinda cool, huh?” Tracey explained her reasoning, she seemed to have already formed a liking for Larry, thinking he was cool.
”Hmm… I guess he is pretty cool and the stars he makes are pretty… sigh… Fine, he can join our group…” She gave in after a bit, having to admit that Larry was pretty cool.
”Nice. Hey! Lamp guy!” The electric box called over.
Larry looked over in confusion, not knowing what was going on.
”Wanna join our group?” She asked.
Larry stood up, shrugging his shoulders before walking over. He was still hungover and tired but made his way over to the the two girls.
”… Umm… sure…? Why though…?” He asked, his arms slack.
”You just seemed cool, literally no further explanation.” Tracey said confidently.
”Well- what’s our group name…?”
“Group name?” The two girls asked in confusion, looking at the lamp with raised eyebrows.
”Every group needs a name…” Larry stated, as if that was common knowledge.
”Umm… I mean… I guess we could have something…?” Mable said, tapping her finger on her chin in thought of what their name should be.
The three of them stood their thinking for a bit before Mable came up with something.
”Night Show!” She exclaimed, proud of her decision.
”Night Show?” The two others asked.
”Why ‘Night Show’?” Tracey asked in confusion of her choice.
”I don’t know? It sounds cool and spunk! And we’re a bunch and f spunks, said by you!” Mable insisted.
”I mean… I guess we’ll have Night Show as our group name for now…”
“Should we invite Tony along?” Mable asked.
”Wha- why Tony? He’s not exactly ‘spunk’ just annoying and stubborn!” Tracey groaned, not understanding why Mable would make choose him out of everyone.
”Well- He seems lonely and maybe he just needs a bit of cheering up? Come on! It’ll be nice!” Mable insisted more.
”… Ugh! Fine! But only because you insist…” She grumbled under her breath.
As all this was happening, Warren was admiring Shrignold’s wings, asking him a million questions that Shrignold could barely keep track of.
”Woah, woah! Slow down friend, one thing at a time…” Shrignold spoke, making Warren silent.
”O-oh! Sorry- it’s just, I really like your wings is all…” He admitted, slightly embarrassed at his admission.
”Well, thank you! I’m quite flattered. So, have any plans for this place?” The butterfly asked, flapping his wings before setting his feet down on the ground.
”Oh! No, not really, I thought maybe we could just brows around-“
”We?” Shrignold asked on confusion.
”Well- yeah! You and me hanging out as friends! I love friends!” Warren had never really had a friend, and last time he tried ended in it costing his life.
”You love friends?” Shrignold asked, pondering on the request before sighing.
”Sure! That would be lovely!”
Creak and Bruce walked around the large open area, still looking for Colin.
”God… Where could he be?” Creak asked, gritting his teeth.
”He couldn’t have gone far?” Bruce wondered, looking around with a worried expression, his mind thinking of all the possibilities of Colin getting hurt.
”Oh-! There I think he is!” Creak said, turning and walking in a direction to a store. Bruce looking confused but quickly walking after.
“Colin! Why’d you run off?” Creak asked as he walked up to the computer who was standing in front of a glass window, staring at a poster.
Bruce also came shortly after, the two other teachers standing beside computer in confusion on what he was staring at.
”… Who is she?” Colin asked in an almost dazed voice.
The two other teachers looked up at the poster, becoming even more confused.
“That… Weird blue, pigtail girl? I don’t know… Doesn’t even look real…” Creak said, him looking bored.
”Hat-sun-e Mi-ku… I don’t know?” Bruce responded, reading the name off of the poster.
”… I wanna be just like her…” Colin responded.
“What?” The two other men asked, even more confused now on what was going on.
“She’s so cool! Let me look her up!” Colin said, immediately pulling out his phone, typing into google.
”Alright…? But as you do that can we maybe walk back to the others? They’re all wondering where you are?” Bruce asked, trying to push Colin in the direction where the others were.
Colin just nodded as he continued to do research on this so called “Hatsune Miku”.
Creak just sighed, rolling his eyes in irritation before grabbing Colin’s tail, dragging him along side him and Bruce. Colin seemed unfazed as he was literally being dragged across the ground, just continuing to do research on this girl.
While that was happening, in the supermarket Steve and Fred were buying food as Todney and Lily ran around the place excitedly, hopping up and down.
“K-kids? Could you calm down? We’re in a public place…?” Steve asked, his voice gently but firm. Fred just watched them as they ran around.
Todney and Lily paused in their running, looking over at the two adults.
”… Can we sit in the cart?” They asked, and yet again, speaking in unison.
Steve sighed as he looked down at the two kids, crossing his arms.
”… Will you behave?”
”YES!” The two said loudly, wanting to sit in the cart immediately.
Steve sighed and nodded, picking up the two kids and placing them in the shopping cart, Fred chuckling at the sight but immediately going quiet again.
The two kids were happy to be in the cart and as promised behaved themselves.
Steve sighed in relief once seeing them behave, finally able to finish up with the shopping.
As all of this was going down in all of their own little groups, Red, Duck and Yellow stayed in the meeting spot, taking a seat in one of the benches, still in absolute shock of what was going on.
Years of torture and pain. Traumatized and scared for life, it was all hell, but… now it was just… this…? What happened? The last thing any of them remember from that show was a big bright bang of Light and then they were all the sudden in this… world… It all didn’t make sense. There had to be some kind of explanation, right? It couldn’t just… be this? They wanted answers and needed answers. The three of them sat in silence for most of the time, processing everything that was happening.
This was all cut short once they spotted Creak, Bruce and Colin.
”Oh! You guys found him?” Red snapped out of his trance and looked over at the three, the other two quickly looking after.
”Yeah, just found him at some random store… He’s now obsessing over some random girl… kinda creepy if you ask me…” Creak said, scratching the back of his neck.
”Well- at least it isn’t a real girl, right?” Bruce asked, looking also a little weirded out but not too much.
“… Now we just need to wait for the others… And who knows how long that’ll take…” Duck muttered under his breath, looking around the place.
”They can’t take too long, they’ll be back soon…” Red said reassuringly, patting Duck’s head.
Duck grumbled at that and whacked Red’s hand off his head, not liking the affection.
Yellow giggles at the sight. Despite everything seeming to change, at least Red and Duck were at least remotely similar to how they acted before, it was nice to know that bot everything changed.
After a bit, a few other groups of teachers showed up, seeming to just be getting along.
”Where’s everyone else? Still running around?” Steve asked as he carried the grocery bags, Fred not to far back dealing with the twins and their playful antics.
“Oh, you actually… shopped? For some reason wasn’t expecting that…” Red commented once seeing Steve with the bags.
”Well, I said I would, didn’t I?”
“I mean yeah, but I’m so used to you teachers saying something and then just- … lying…” He mumbled that last part, just looking confused.
“Oh, still waiting for those pests?” The electric box spoke up. Her and her group walking up to the others.
”Oh, you’re back too…” Yellow acknowledge, his feet dangling off from the bench he was sitting on.
”Yeah, just looked around and this place is nicccceee!” Mable spoke up, standing beside Tony who was helping Larry stand properly and not stumble over.
“Well, I think we can all agree on that!” Tracey smiled, fixing their wires a bit.
”Only those pesty bee’s left to wait on…” The shortest one from the main three spoke through gritted teeth, his patience wearing thin.
Colin perked up, spotting Tony.
”Clock friend!” He said excitedly, walking up to him.
”… You know I have a name right-“ Tony was cut off by a question.
“Is Larry ok?” Colin asked in concern, wondering why Tony was holding him up.
”Yes, just- … Tired and hungover is all…” He grumbled, his arms getting tired from holding Larry for so long but no one else was willing to take Larry for him.
“… Right… Well I found this new thing! It’s called Vocaloids! They’re essentially just robots who sing and-“
Colin started casually info dumping about this thing he found out about less then 20 minutes ago. Tony showed no interest in anything Colin was saying but was too tired to even stop the weird computer.
After around fifteen minutes, Shrignold and Warren had come back.
”Y’know, most friendships shift into love relationships?” Shrignold stated, his arms crossed as his wings fluttered.
”Sometimes! But not all friendships end in relationships! You know people can be just friends right? Like- we’re not gonna fall in love just because we’re friends!” Warren defended his explanation for friendship towards Shrignold.
”Well- Of course not? We’re both guys, that’s just weird!”
“Wait- you’re-“
”Oh we’re back. Hey guys! Are all of you done exploring? I must say, spying on the couples were quite fun.” Shrignold spoke in a nonchalant tone as if spying on couples was a completely normal thing.
“Y’know… Shrignold still scares me… He seems mostly the same-“ Red spoke. It seemed to him that Shrignold still had his wild love cult brain.
“Yeah… I don’t wanna talk about it…” Yellow shuddered by the thought of his past experiences with Shrignold.
“That’s besides the point now- Let’s all get… home? Can we call that place home?” Red asked in a genuine tone.
”I mean, we have the keys to the place? So yes?” Duck said, showing the keys he had in his pockets.
“Wha- how did you get those…?” Red asked but never got an answer to his question.
A few puppets were complaining on how there was still more they hadn’t seen and wanted to continue exploring the new open world they had all just magically gotten. A few of the other puppets wanted to get home, most of them were tired and wanted some sleep, even though it was only 4 A.M. Others were hungry.
There was a lot of back and forth talking but eventually they got everyone to start heading home. Despite most of them who have just met, they all seemed to get along just fine… mostly.
While walking back home, something caught Tondey, Lily and Sofi’s eyes. It was just a small playground, nothing special, but they had never seen one before.
“Steve! What’s that place?” Lily asked in curiosity, tugging at Steve’s arm.
”Hm? Oh, I’m not sure…” He said, tilting his head.
”Can we please check it out?” Sofi practically begged, wanting to see what the playground was.
Steve had to pause in his steps, debating on letting them or not. The playground wasn’t too big so it would be easy to keep an eye on them, but they really should get home and start preparing dinner.
After a while of debating Steve caved in, sighing.
”Fine… But only for five minutes, ok?”
The three young kids looked excited before hopping up and rushing over to the playground. A few of the other teachers looked confused on where they were going.
”Why are we stopping? Shouldn’t we get home…?” Red asked, standing beside Steve.
“The young ones wanted to check out that… place. I mean- if you’d guys want, me and Fred can keep and eye on them while you head home-“ Before even finishing his sentence a few other teachers looked curious at the colorful playground and rushed over to see what it was.
“Uhh… Yeah, maybe we all could just stay here for five minutes or so…” Red said, watching as the other puppets got interested.
Yellow looked confused at the playground, he thinks he’s seen one before… but when? He wasn’t sure, but it was probably just from some random lesson in that nightmare…
”… Red?” He asked quietly, his voice just above a whisper.
”… Yes, Yellow?” He asked, looking down at the young boy.
”… Can I also check out the colorful place…?” He asked, wanting confirmation from the person he trusted most.
”… Yes… You may…” His voice slightly dimmed down to a more quiet and gentle town.
Yellow’s eyes lightened up for a split second before looking back at all the other teachers and walked up to the park to see what it was.
As all this happened the others stepped to the side, closer to a few trees as they watched the others have fun.
Duck decided it was about time to ask this question, looking up at Red with a curious look.
”… So…” He started, his demeanor had softened a lot during the day. Red looked down at Duck.
”… What’s… Your whole opinion on… this…?” He asked, gesturing to everything around them.
”… It’s odd… But not bad…”
Duck’s head perked up at that response, not expecting it.
“Really…?” He asked, now looking confused.
”… Yeah…” Red mumbled.
“… Maybe it’s not so bad after all…”

I’m done with it! I’m sorry that it took longer then I though! I got a burn out and just needed to rest from social media for a bit, but I’m back and I’m gonna try and start a new chapter today!
Chapter 3: Night Show!
Summary:
Wanna go to a show? We’re getting along right? Isn’t this what friends do? Hang out?
Notes:
This chapter is mainly focused on the group Night Show(Tracey, Mable, Larry and Tony). Just so you all know, Tony is in this group but later on in chapters join other groups, so he won’t always be with the other three. But if you guys like Night Show with Tony I will gladly make other chapters mainly for those four!
(Kinda Tracey centered)
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
A few days had gone by in the puppet house. Most of them were getting along quite well, which was surprising. The main three still had uneasy feelings about the teachers in the beginning but in the past few days, the teachers have been relatively calm- well, more so that, they’re not trying to kill the main three every second, otherwise it can get a bit messy.
Most of them had formed their own relationships with each other here and there. There was still some beef between a few puppets but nothing to drastic.
Today was as normal as it got, but still confusion and questions hung in the air, but for the most part, a lot of the puppets had sorta forgotten about them, but they were always looming over their shoulders.
“Alright! Well, I’m just more surprised that we didn’t have all this stuff in the- … other world…” Tracey spoke, putting down her phone while talking to her friend.
”I mean, in Red’s words, it was a nightmare, so it probably didn’t have anything we enjoyed nor liked…” Mable said, fixing her hair with a few paper clips.
”Yeah but off topic, Mable, why do you always have your hair covering your right eye?” Tony asked, genuinely curious, never have seen her other eye.
”Oh, I don’t know? I mean, something I found out kinda like- … Tue first day here in this… world, was that I only had one eye?” By saying that Mable proceeded to lift her hair out of the way, revealing the torn off part of her face.
“… Jesus… How did that happened?” Tracey asked, looking at Mable, slightly weirded out by the fact that half of Mable’s face was ripped off.
”I actually don’t know… I mean, like I said, I woke up in this world like this…” It answered, letting her hair fall back into place.
“Is it- *hicc*! Something you got from the nightmare…?” Larry asked, Tony looking at him with a tired look.
”Still hungover I see… Where do you even get the alcohol?!” Tony questioned.
”I mean, it could be but, I don’t remember anything like this happening to me in the show… and it seems pretty bad so, I don’t think it would just be something I’d forget…” She mumbled, playing with her hair strands.
“Well, who knows. This place is pretty weird.” Tony mumbled, resting his chin in his hand.
”Oh yeah! I just learned that there’s these things called seasons that happen over the year.” Tracey said, messing with her phone, she was practically addicted to it.
”You just learned that?” Tony asked, genuinely surprised that almost non of the teachers new about the different seasons.
”Oh shut up, Tony. You’re a clock! Of course you know about the difference seasons! Time is your whole thing right?” Mable asked in her high pitched voice, crossing her arms while talking to Tony.
“Sigh… Well, I used to, but now I don’t really give a rats ass about it…” Tony grumbled, leaning back into his seat.
“I truly don’t think anyone really cares for their lesson anymore- I mean, I don’t care about electricity!” Tracey scoffed.
“Eh, it’s true- But I still like being creative!” Mable said enthusiastically.
”Woah, good for you…” Tony grumbled.
”No need to be a prick, Tony!” Tracey snapped. Mable just sighed, not in the mood to argue.
The four of them sat in the living room in silence for a few more minutes before Tracey perked up and sat up in her seat.
“Yo! Later this evening there’s a public performance happening downtown at the square, should we go?” Tracey asked their friends, seeming interested in the show.
“Huh? Like… A band?” Mable asked, Tony randomly flicking Larry’s forehead.
“Yeah, some- random TV guy it seems… Apparently he’s a big thing here.” Tracey said, looking at the details of the performance.
”What-? Let me see-“ Tony said, snatching Tracey’s phone.
“Hey-!”
“Down town at the square, public performances brought by Zircon T-Star… Who the fuck is that?” Tony asked, looking back at the frustrated Tracey.
“I don’t know? Just some famous pop-star?” Tracey said in irritation, crossing her arms.
“Pop? Seriously? And a public performance? That place is gonna be packed!” Tony complained, handing the phone back to Tracey.
“Oh come on Tony! It’ll be fun! And this can be a nice way to get used to this world!” Mable suggested, trying to lighten her friends mood.
”No way! There’s just gonna be a bunch of people pushing, shoving and being complete annoyances there!” Tony shook his head, refusing to go.
”Oh come on!”
”It’s not that bad! Have some light in you!”
“Come on maaannn…”
The three companied as Tony refused, him looking away while crossing his arms.
Mable sighed and put on her best puppy dog eyes.
”Pleeeaaasseee Tony?” She begged, wanting him to come along.
Tony looked a bit weirded out by the puppy dog eyes but softened, thinking for a few solid seconds before sighing, immediately perking everyone up.
”… Fine-“ Before Tony finished the others started cheering.
”BUT! This is the only time I’ll be doing something like this with you, got it?”
That got everyone silent again but they shrugged it off, still happy that Tony was joining them for one night.
“Sigh, when does the show start?” He asked, turning to Tracey.
”Oh-“ She checked her phone.
”Starts at 7 P.M. and ends at 9 P.M.”
“Two hours?!” Tony looked shocked, having to spend two hours in a place like that.
“It’s not that bad! And afterwards we can get a drink or something if you feel like it?” Mable offered, Larry immediately perking up at this even if he wasn’t being the one asked.
Tony shook his head and sighed, caving in.
“Fine, but I’m not paying for drinks…”
That evening the four of them got ready to go to this show that Tony was so excited for. After a bit the four came downstairs from their rooms. Steve was in the kitchen preparing dinner while Fred helped.
“Yo! Fred, when’s dinner?” Tracey asked the fridge, putting her hands in her football jacket pockets.
”Hm, oh, should be done around 6? Why?” He asked, looking down at the shorter puppet.
“Nah, we’re just going down town to this public show. Me, Mable, Tony and Larry are all going, and maybe getting a drink after.” She answered, looking around the kitchen.
”Oh, is that why you’re all dressed up? Well alright then, when are you leaving?” Steve chimed in and asked.
”The show starts around 7 P.M. and ends at around 9 P.M.” Mable said, seeming excited for the show.
”Well- alright then. Dinner will be done soon so, do you wanna stay for 30 minutes and then leave?” Steve asked, grabbing a warm pot.
”Uhh… Sure! We can eat before going…”
Tony and Larry nodded in agreement.
Once the four of them had eaten they got up from their seats, stepping away and making their way to the front door. A few puppets just watched in confusion as they left.
“Where are they going?” Creak asked, looking over towards Steve.
”Oh, they’re gonna go out down town, there’s this- … Concert going on…” Steve answered, continuing to eat.
The four of them stepped out of the house, locking the door.
“30 minutes until it starts! That should be plenty of time!” Mable said, sitting on Tracey’s shoulder, leaning against her head.
”Damn, it’s already getting dark out…” Tracey pointed out, looking towards the dark blue sky.
”Well, yeah, it’s 6:30.” Mable checked her phone.
“Do you think we should’ve invited anyone else?” Tracey asked, looking towards the others.
”No, you morons are enough…” Tony said, holding up the alcoholic.
”… Is that a compliment-“
”Does it sound like a compliment?!” Tony snapped.
”… Honest… Yeah.” Mable shrugged with a smug look on her face.
“God you people are annoying…” Tony grumbled, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Thank you!” The three others said in unison, Tony just rolling his eyes.
Walking down to the city it was very well lit up. The four of them hadn’t been down town in the city before while it was dark, so this was all a pretty new experience for them.
”Damn! Looks pretty, huh?” Mable asked, nudging Tracey who just rolled her eyes playfully.
“I guess it is pretty nice…” Tracey mumbled, looking over to see if Tony and Larry were keeping up.
While Larry just looked like his drunken self Tony looked a bit more overwhelming. He didn’t know there was gonna be this many people and all the sounds and lights were overwhelming him.
”Yeeahh… Maybe bringing Tony along wasn’t the best idea…” Tracey spoke, looking back at Mable.
”Eh, he’ll be fine, probably just overwhelmed from the new scenery, but he’s gotta get used to it at some point, right?” Mable asked, looking a tad bit concerned.
”Sigh… Don’t we all? … It’s all new to us…”
After that statement it became quite between the two girls, and after a bit a smile appeared on Mable’s face.
”Well, that’s not really a bad thing… Right? … I like learning… I like learning about interesting stuff… Not just- … Creativity, Time, Death and Electricity!” She joked, making different hand gestures.
Tracey smiled a bit, chuckling at Mable’s words.
”Guess you got a point… This all is way more… interesting…” She agreed, continuing to walk.
After that it was all pretty quiet between the four of them. They silently made their way over to the town square where the show was being taken place. Once getting their it was already pretty crowded, something Tony wasn’t the biggest fan of. Tony stayed very close to the other three, Tracey noticing and taking Tony’s hand so she didn’t lose him.
”Everything alright, Tony?” Tracey asked, noticing his discomfort.
”N-no it’s just- … I don’t like large crowds…” He mumbled, the others could tell he lost his bite in his words, now sounding more defenseless.
“That’s fine…”
”Yeah, just stay close to us and not look at anyone around you! Ok?” Mable said reassuringly.
Tony nodded, still hating large crowds of people. He had never been around this many people before, it was all overwhelming and making him dizzy.
Tracey pushed through the crowd of people, wanting to be relatively close to the stage to get a better look at it. This was all of their first concert, despite them who had sang before about their lessons, it was always children's toons, nothing like this.
“That stage is big, and a lot of lights…” Mable mumbled, in slight awe at the sight of it all.
“Yeah, looks cool, huh?” Tracey stated, stepping where they were almost at the front.
”Eh, this should be good.”
“You don’t wanna be at the front?” Larry asked, getting a head shake from Tracey.
”No, then to actually see the stage we’d be breaking our necks, which I don’t wanna do…” Tracey stated, earning a light hearted chuckle from Mable.
It was quite loud out here, as other puppets talked amongst themselves and made a lot of noise as they all waited for the show to start. It was supposed to start soon, in like five minutes or so. The four got there faster then they had expected.
“Damn, is it just me or is it getting colder out here?” Tracey asked, looking down at the slightly calmed down Tony.
”Uhh, yeah, at night things get colder because the sun isn’t out…” Tony answers, still holding her hand.
“Really? That’s how it works?” They genuinely asked, not knowing that’s how to worked since in their word she had only ever seen the sun.
”You guys honestly can’t be that dumb-“
Before Tony got the chance to finish his sentence, all the lights on the stage go out, indicating that the show was about to start.
”… Is it supposed to do that-?”
”Shh!” Tracey shushed Larry.
The lights came back on in bright flashing colors, the crowd cheering once a voice was heard.
”Ya ready for a show my Bitches?!” A sharp sturdy voice spoke up, having a slight sharp edge.
”Wow, what a greeting…” Tracey said sarcastically.
”You think I should start greeting people like that?” Mable asked, looking at the others, getting a collective “No”.
“Now, you all must know me- since I’m kinda a big deal-“ He added the other part a little more quietly.
”-But for anyone who doesn’t! I’m Zircon T-Star! And I’m here to give you the night of your life!” He said enthusiastically, the crowd erupting into cheers again.
Mable and the others looked a bit confused at the hype, but Tracey was all into it. She was practically vibrating with excitement.
“We’re gonna do a few songs and latter after the show, we’ll do a quick meet and greet!”
The crowed seemed excited, and so did Tracey before Mable nudged her.
“Hey, remember, we’re going home after the show…” Mable reminded, gesturing to the other two.
”O-oh, right…” Tracey nodded, looking at them. Larry seemed fine, but Tony was a little overwhelmed with everything going on around him.
It didn’t take long before music started blasting from speakers. This caught the four off guard since they thought there would be some kind of warning, but no.
The music was nothing like they had heard before. All the music they knew were weird, cursed nursery rhymes, but this was actual… music. A weird mixture between pop and cyber it seemed. While Mable and Larry were enjoying the lights and pretty colors, Tracey was mostly fixated on the overall music and especially the instruments. Her eyes landed on the electric guitar. They seemed fascinated with it, also thinking it looked cool. She remembered having one for a short period of time in her lesson, but that was only supposed to be used for demonstration if electricity, not something she just had because it was cool and interesting.
Tony seemed a little more stressed out. Not used to such loud noises and crowded areas. He stayed close to the others, even getting shoved into a few times by other puppets, he couldn’t wait to get out of there.
After an hour or two the show had ended, the singer Zircon had stepped back behind the stage to get ready for the meet and greet. Tracey desperately wanted to go but knew that the others were probably tired and just wanted to head home.
”Well, that was fun!” Mable said, getting a nod from Larry.
”I just wish we could’ve gone to the meet and greet…” Tracey grumbled in frustration as the four of them headed out towards the exit.
”It did look pretty cool I must admit, but we’re all tired…”
“Wait- you promised us drinks…?” Larry asked in confusion.
”Oh, right I did-“ Tracey remembered, pinching the bridge of her nose, looking around in irritation.
”Yo, Tony? Will you survive a little longer out if we go get a drink?” Tracey asked, looking down at the very tired clock.
”… Physically, yes, mentally, no.” Tony answered bluntly, earning a nod from Tracey.
”Alright! Drinks it is!”
While sitting at the bar, Tracey tapped her foot against the wooden stool a few times, her brain ticking with thoughts as Larry chugged down a few drinks and Tony and Mable were having a small conversation.
Tracey then took a pause before declaring something.
”I wanna do just like that!”
Tony and Mable looked over curiously, raising an eyebrow at her random declare.
”Do what?” Tony asked curiously, tilting his head a bit to the side while taking a sip of his beer.
“Music! Just like that guy Zircon!” Tracey enthusiastically said. Tony just continued looking at them with a confused look while a soft smile graced Mable’s face.
”Well, it would definitely help to pick up some hobbies! Easier to distract ourselves from our thousands of questions…” Mable chuckled, trying to make a small joke, but Tracey didn’t care about the joke.
Tracey silently went back to her thoughts, thinking about how it would be like to create music like that…
”Yeah… A distraction…”

Chapter Text
The wind gently blows through an open window as Yellow Guy sits by a desk they had added to his room. He's looking out of it, admiring the outside world he still has such little knowledge about. He looks down at the desk for a second to look at his hands. What a beautiful world, he thought to himself as he took a breath. The peace was broken to the sound of the door opening. Red Guy stepped in, holding a sandwich on a plate in one hand, giving Yellow a gentle smile.
"Was wondering where you were..." He said, stepping into the room and walking over to Yellow who switched his attention to Red.
"I got you a sandwich, Steve made it..."
"Should I trust it?" Yellow asked, looking at it as Red placed it on his table. Red leaning a bit against the table.
"Well, Duck ate hi like a wild animal and seems... Fine..." He says a bit awkwardly, giving Yellow a reassuring smile.
Yellow took the sandwich and looked it over before taking a bite, it tasted fine. It tasted like home.
"Listen- I just wanted to check in and ask if everything's going ok... We've all been through a lot so I wanted to make sure that you're holding up welll..."
"I'm not sure..." Yellow answered, still eating his sandwich slowly.
"... I understand... If you need anything, me and the others will be downstairs doing... something..." Red chuckles a bit, trying to lighten the mood.
"Yeah.. Thanks, Red..." Yellow nodded and looked back out the window, admiring the outside some more.
Red looked a bit concerned but decided to not pay too much mind to it. Closing the door and heading back downstairs.
It was loud to say the least, being downstairs since that' where everyone was. Tracey and her group lounging on the couches, the kitchen band in the kitchen while Creak and Bruce seem to be talking about some kind of politics. Todney and Lily were running around the house while Steve tried to keep an eye on them while cooking.
