Your POV

Finally, after months of talking about it, the trip to Okinawa is here.

The day before we left for the trip we all gathered in our classroom at the end of the day to make groups. I was about to go see if I could group up with Kokomi, Yumehara, but they ended up picking mera for their third girl.

So I resulted in grouping with two other girls I used to sit with at lunch. I sat with them as we talked about who’s boy group to join since it needed to be a group of 6 in total. I was thinking Kaidou, Nendou, and Kusuo since they hadn’t completed their group yet but the girls thought otherwise.

I cut myself off from the girls conversation as they change their conversation from boys, to hanging out together after school.

I looked around the room to find Kusuo at his desk. I was at the other side of the room as I watched him stare at the wall. Then Hairo came over and Kusuo’s whole mood changed.

I got up from my chair and walked over to Kusuo. I sat down in front of him, at Kaidou's desk. “So who did you get paired up with?” I asked him with a smile. “Guess.” He mumbled.

“Hmm…” I pretend to think, looking up at the ceiling like I was recalling an old memory. Then I looked back at him. “Kokomi’s group?” I told him plainly. He nodded his head yes in despair.

I couldn’t help but laugh at his mood. “Aw, it’s okay.” I moved a strand of his hair that was covering his antennas. “You’ll be fine. Besides, I’ll keep a watch on Kokomi. Making sure she’s not getting into any trouble.” I reassured him.

I gave him a small smile as my eyes gazed through his green toy glasses, where his deep purple eyes hid behind. He softly smiled at me. “Thanks. I don’t know what I’ll do without you.” He told me.

I leaned back a bit, taking in a deep breath in and out. “Oh you’ll probably do something really big and ridiculous to avoid her.” I shrugged my shoulders. “You know me so well.” he said, his smile never leaving.

Just then the door to our classroom opened and a teacher popped in. Hairo went up to her and they talked for a bit. Hairo then turned towards the class. “Hey, who's in Mera’s group?” He asked around.

Kokomi raised her hand, with Yumehara standing next to her. “Oh, that’ll be us!” She called out. “Sorry to tell you, but apparently she won’t go on the trip with us. Apparently they didn’t catch as many blue fish tuna as they hoped– an unfortunate set back.” Hairo told them.

Kokomi and Yumehara were a bit disappointed that they weren’t going to get Mera in their group, or on the trip at all. Then Hairo decided to speak again. “So now we have to make five groups of seven instead!” He announced to everyone in the class.

Of course the girls were in distraught about it. No doubt they were plotting to group up with Kusuo’s group since the beginning, but now their plan is ruined. The boys in the class started to group around them, trying to convince the girls to go with their group, well mostly Kokomi.

“Well, looks like you got lucky, Kusuo.” I told him as my eyes continued to stare at the circle of boys around Kokomi. “Yup, looks like god’s on my side this time.”

At dinner I ate with my family. Mom and dad finally set aside their work to eat together before I left. “You got everything packed?” Mom asked me as I shove another spoonful of rice into my mouth. I nodded my head yes.

“You packed your toothbrush? Your toothpaste?” Mom added. I swallowed my food then answered. “Yes, I have everything.” I told her in a mild tone. Mom got all defensive. “Alright, no need to get all worked up.” Mom scoffed. Dad just kept eating.

As we all were finishing up our meal, mom spoke up again. “So… you excited for the trip?” She cautionedly asked. I looked down at my plate as I filled my last spoonful of food. “Yeah, sort of. Just disappointed I can’t go into the water.” I told her and shoved the food into my mouth.

“Yeah, I’m sorry about that honey. I’m sure it’ll still be fine though. Maybe you can build sandcastles, or just get your feet wet.” She offered. “Yeah, that does sounds fun too.” I told her and got up.

“I’m going to bed early.” I told my parents and walked to the kitchen with my dirty dishes. As I walked out and towards the stairs dad called out to me. “Wait, y/n!” I looked back as he still sat in his seat. “I’ve put some extra money in your bank account. Maybe you can get something nice for yourself.” He said.

I smiled a bit and thanked him. I got up to my room where I showered, packed any last minute things and went to bed. Hopefully nothing crazy happens on this trip.

I woke up in a lounge chair. I could hear the faint sound of water gushing, birds chirping, and the wind blowing softly on my face. As I realized where I was the sound became clearer and louder.

I’m back in the fucking building again!? I looked around at my environment. Everything was the same as last time I was here. There was a beach in front of me. The ocean waves crashing against the sand like there was no tomorrow.

The sky was dotted with clouds, with the full moon playing peek-a-boo and the birds flying around, riding with the wind. I sat up and placed my bare feet down on the warm concrete, where a building awaited behind me.

I stared off at the beach, looking at the sky as the dark blue skyline kissed the ocean in the middle. Why am I having this dream again? I stood up from the chair. My eyes glued onto the ocean, its color a dark blue and gray.

As I took a step towards the sand I felt a tug on my wrist. “Where are you going?” A voice questioned me. I froze in place. what… I slowly looked behind me to find someone sitting on the lounge chair I just stood up from.

I stared at them, unsure of what to feel. Should I be shocked because the last two times I was alone and now I’m not? Should I be happy because I know this person? Or perhaps I should be saddened because the last time this person was with me here I got rejected– hard.

They tilted their head, as their eyes gazed at me. “Where are you going?” They asked again. I was scared for some reason. Afraid that if I said their name, they would disappear, like cupping water in your hand when it just runs out through the cracks of your fingers.

They smiled at me. And suddenly the clouds went away, the moon shining brightly, at its fullest. The wind providing a nice mist to cool off, and I felt safe again. This wasn’t like last time he was here. Because now I know how he’ll react, now I’m not afraid of the unknown.

“I was just going to the beach…Kusuo.” I whispered his name, fear still lingered in my body. “Well, then I’ll join you.” He told me and stood up from the chair. His grip on my wrist turned into him locking our hands together.

I looked at him, before returning my gaze to the beach. This time, I pulled him with me, and he gladly followed. As my feet left the concrete and entered the sand, I could feel the grains going in between my toes.

I kept going though, until the waves crashed into my feet, soaking them. But even then I didn’t stop. I kept going, pulling Kusuo along, and he still followed. I only stopped once the water had reached my ankles, so my feet were completely submerged in the ocean water.

Kusuo walked and stood beside me, our sides touching as we both stared off into the horizon. Last time I was here I was at peace.

But now, I felt safe too. I had a place to go to. Where they’ll never leave. A place I can ground myself. I tighten my grip on Kusuo’s hand. “I’m glad you’re here.” I told him between the wind and ocean waves.

“I’m glad you’re here too.” He replied back to me. I quickly turned to him. Our eyes met each other, and before he could turn as well I stepped forward and hugged him. A full hug. Not one of those side hugs, or those family hugs where you’re hugging someone who used to change your diaper and expects you to remember it. No.

I wrapped my arms tightly around his back, my chest against his and my face buried into the base of his neck. “I’m really glad you’re here.” My voice cracked. I felt a lump forming in my throat.

Kusuo’s arms wrapped around me as well, his head against mine. “I’m sorry for hugging you.” I quickly said. Knowing how he hated public PDA. “It’s alright. No one's watching. Plus… I needed this.” He softly said.

“Promise me you’ll hug me like this before I… leave.” Kusuo whispered. It sounded like he had to put some thought in the last word. I frowned and looked up at him. “What do you mean?” I asked him. “Don’t worry, you’ll know.” The back of his hand ran down my face. “I promise to keep you safe.” He said for the last time.

My vision tunneled. The sky, beach, and environment darkened and disappeared. Kusuo was the last thing I saw before total darkness, and the sound of my alarm clock going off.

It never really sat in, in the fact that I’m going to Okinawa until I was sitting in the airport.

As soon as we all entered through the doors and got to our gate everyone started to think of things to do on the plane and on the trip. Some brought card games, others brought books, and Yumehara brought snacks, like a lot of snacks.

I sat next to the girls, Kokomi, Yumehara and Mera. Yes, Mera managed to come to the trip. Kusuo wouldn’t say much, only that someone’s brother was going on the trip as well, but Kusuo stole their ticket since it would cause trouble for him and someone else.

So at the end I ended up being in their group since they needed just one more person to fill their group of seven. I was glad anyway since the group I was in last time was getting really annoying.

Kusuo was standing off in front of me, but not too close so Kokomi couldn’t do much to him. As we waited though, we got an announcement that our flight was going to be delayed because of a typhoon.

As soon as it was said, everyone, and I mean everyone started to freak out a bit. And as time went by and the flight was getting more and more delayed that’s when people started to lose hope and hit rock bottom.

I’ve never seen this many people get stressed out before. I honestly felt bad. It wasn’t my first rodeo that a flight has been delayed or even cancelled, so I was used to this kind of news. But seeing everyone else really made me feel bad.

I looked around seeing people hunched over like it’s the end of the world. Kaidou is all curled up in his seat, Yumehara was stress eating her snacks, and Hairo was going up to everyone trying to cheer them up and give hope, but that was useless.

I got up from my seat and walked up to Kusuo. “You don’t think they’ll cancel the trip because of this, will they?” I asked him. He looked at me. “Don’t worry, I’ll fix it.” He put his hand up and walked away. I watched him as he turned a corner and disappeared. How is he going to fix a delayed flight from a typhoon?

I stood there, looking around the room filled with depressed kids. It was a sore sight to see honestly. After a few minutes I turned back to my seat when I heard a kid start shouting. “Hey look! The typhoon is gone and our flight is back on!”

Everyone got up and cheered, hugging one another, crying of happiness and much more. Kaidou came up to me. “l/n! I’m so glad we got our flight back! Of course I wasn’t worried since I knew nothing would go wrong…” He told me. “You know, since I’m with the Jet Black Wings.” He whispered to himself. I simply nodded my head in agreement. “Yeah, I’m glad we still got our trip.” I gave him a smile.

“Oh, hey Saiki, where’ve you been?” Kaidou called out behind me. I looked back to a soaking wet Kusuo, with a piece of seaweed on his shoulder. “Never mind that.” Kusuo told him. Kiadou shrugged his shoulders then walked away.

As I walked up to Kusuo, in a blink of an eye, he became dry again. “Where did you go, and why were you wet?” I asked him. “I just had to fight a typhoon. No biggie.” He smiled at me. I was in disbelief. “A typhoon!? Kusuo, that’s not a, no biggie.” I called out to him as he walked closer to the rest of the group.

After everyone got their excitement settled down and we got onto our plane, take off ran pretty smoothly. I sat next to Kusuo, taking the window seat as he took the middle while Kaidou and Nendou sat in the row in front of us.

It was about a two and a half hour flight so I had some time to kill and read a book. But before I could even open it there was already another problem. Kaidou was looking sick.

“Hey are you okay Kaidou?” Kokomi asked him. Kaidou explained to her how he has motion sickness and the pills a flight attendant gave him weren’t working. “It’s okay though. It’s only a two hour flight, so I’ll manage.” Kaidou smiled at Kokomi.

Honestly, I did think Kaidou looked better. Maybe Kokomi is some goddess. Kaidou is looking better already. Just then Nendou came to check on him and Kaidou looked pale and hunched over a bucket he had on his lap. Never mind then.

Kusuo stood up. “Where are you going?” I asked him. He looked back at me. “To the bathroom” And pointed to the back of the plane. I gave a nod of understanding and looked back to Kaidou, who was still visibly upset.

Kusuo came back after some time and sat down, looking pale himself. “You okay?” I asked softly. He nodded his head and gave a thumbs up. Not talking huh? Seems like fighting that typhoon must’ve taken some energy out of him.

“Oh hey! I found my motion sickness pills!” Kaidou announced. I looked up to see Kaidou holding his packet of pills. The students nearby cheered for him. “I can’t believe it was in the pocket of my other pants!” Kaidou added as he popped a pill in his mouth and drank some water.

I let out a breath of relief for Kaidou and went back to my book. But I got only three chapters in when another student was whining in pain. “Ahh! My stomach! It hurts!”

I closed my book and looked back. Now what? It was Takahashi, who sat a row behind me on the other side, that was having problems of his own now. He hunched over, holding his stomach area, his face looking stressed. A flight attendant came over trying to solve this situation.

“Oh no! Help! Is there a doctor on board!?” The attendant asked around, but no one spoke up. “What are we going to do?!” A student who sat next to Takahashi was panicking now. “If we act now we can land nearby and get some help!” The flight attendant spoke in a hurry.

Kusuo stood up quickly and looked back at the situation. Well that got his attention. “Just hang in there!” A student told Takahashi. “I can’t! The pain is too much! This must be really serious!- Huh?”

Suddenly Takahashi sat up, his body relaxed and his face in its normal color. “What’s wrong?” A friend of his asked. “The pain. It’s gone now.” Takahashi sat in confusion. Kusuo slouched back into his seat. Huh, that was weird.

As Takahashi went back to being excited about the trip Kusuo looked like he was done with it. I leaned forward, tilting my head to look at him. “Hey… you alright?” I asked again, in a much softer tone.

“Yeah just… having to make a lot of trips.” He let out a breath and closed his eyes, using his hand to rest his head. It was amazing how much Kusuo says he doesn’t care for people yet goes out of his way to help them with their problems.

I was getting a bit tired too. Being in planes always makes me tired, so I put the book away and leaned back in my seat. I looked out the window, seeing clouds and water stretch out into the horizon.

I took out my camera I had brought with me and took my first photo of the trip. It was a picture of the window, with the white and blue painting the inside of it. After that I eventually fell asleep, where Kusuo did as well.

Finally we landed and our school trip can start for real. We all got up from our seats and took our things. As we all filed to get into the buses Yuemhara came over to me. “l/n!” I looked back seeing Kokomi not too far behind Yumehara as well.

“What’s up?” I told her. “Please don’t be mad, but I secretly took this picture of you guys on the plane. I just thought you guys looked so cute together!” She smiled and showed me a photo on her phone.

Kusuo, who was right next to me, turned to see the picture as well. It seemed like Yumehara got up from her seat on the plane and took a picture of me and Kusuo sleeping. My head rested on his shoulders as Kusuo’s head rested on top of my head.

“Aw, that’s really cute. Do you mind if you could send that one to me?” I asked her and looked up. “Of course!” She replied and pulled her phone back. Then we got on the bus and settled down for a long ride to our hotel.

So much water… I leaned my head against the bus window, which isn’t comfortable at all, as we head to get lunch. Everyone on this trip is so loud. People talking over one another, others laughing and playing games and some are making funny noises just to mess with the teachers.

“Oh my god Nendou, you’re right. The sea is green.” Kaidou said and went to open the window, letting the wind inside the bus, my hair was getting in my face now. Kaidou then said weird phrases which confused Nendou.

“What are you saying?” Nendou asked, then Yumehara came over. “Oh I know! You’re speaking Okinawa dialect!” She told him. “Oh!” Kaidou’s face turned pink as he stared at Yumehara. “Oh my god! I forgot my shirt was open!” She ran back to her seat as she screamed in embarrassment.

“Oh, I forgot people here speak funny words, like Salsa and fentanyl.” Nendou said. Pretty sure those aren't the words. “No Nendou. I’ll give you a few exampls.” Kaidou then started to list a few simple words like loud, welcome, very, and even hot.

Kokomi, who sat in front of them, stood from her seat and looked back. “Wow Kaidou. You know a lot of words!” She told him. “Oh wow! Teruhashi!” Kaidou grinned like a sheep. “Can you teach me a few?” Kokomi asked him. “Sure! Of course!” he replied back with eagerness.

Great, now Kaidou won’t stop using those words. I leaned my head back on the seat, and wondered what my parents were doing right now without me. Probably working and not having to worry about me alone in the house.

Kusuo’s hand quietly slipped into mine and his grip tightened. Our hands hiding in between our legs for the rest of the ride.

We stopped at a place for lunch before heading to our hotel. We all got off and were finally able to stretch our legs. “Yay! Food!” Mera yelled as she ran towards the noodle place.

We all walked inside and took our seats; Each group to their own table. As we got our bowls of noodles Nendou spoke up about it. “Huh, so this is what Okinawa soba looks like. Well it doesn’t look like soba to me.”

Yumehara, who sat next to me, spoke up. “They call it soba but they don’t use buckwheat flour at all!” She pointed out. “Whatever it is, I'm eating it. I’m hungry!” Nendou said and dug into the noodles.

Kaidou put his hands together and said something in Okinawa dialect. Which the girls and I tried to be nice and smiled at his speaking. Then he just kept going. Saying something after he ate some noodles, saying something to Mera who was too busy eating to care what he was saying, and even explained what he was saying even though no one asked him to do that.

“Oh wow that’s impressive Kaidou.” Kokomi just smiled as she stared at him. “Yeah, that’s a lot. I can’t even keep track of them all.” Yumehara added. “It’s okay guys even if you can’t keep up nankuru naisa !”

Kusuo leaned over to me. “He’s been dying to say that.” he whispered in my ear. I couldn’t help but let out a small laugh then went on eating my bowl of noodles too.

After lunch we all went out of the restaurant. We still had some time left before he had to head back to the bus so we walked around the little plaza we were in. “Those soba were good!” Yumehara exclaimed. “Yes they were! Now we still have time left, should we go to the souvenir shops?” Kokomi recommended.

All of us girls agreed but then Kaidou stopped mid walk and stared at a place called Cobra vs Mongoose. “Cobra vs mongoose!?” Kaidou said with excitement. The girls slowly backed away. “Uh, looks scary. Come on guys let go.” Yumehara said and the girls walked away to the other shops.

“Oh come on guys. You can get souvenirs whenever. This is a once in a lifetime chance.” Kaidou said in his jet black wings voice. His hand covering his lower face. “Whoa! This place looks pretty sweet!” Nendou just noticed the place Kaidou was talking about and started to walk over there. Kaidou followed him.

“Uh, Kusuo I don’t think-” I began to say but got distracted by Yumehara yelling at Mera not to eat all the free samples for pineapple. “These pineapples are so fresh and juicy!” Mera said. Then I saw Kokomi wondering why so many people started to gather around her.

“You know I think where Kaidou is going sounds pretty good to me. y/n?” Kusuo spoke to me. I turned to him. “Um, I actually don’t want to go there. I think I’ll stick with the girls. Make sure Mera doesn’t eat all the free food.” I told him.

“Oh…” Kusuo mumbled. “I’m sorry, I just think the place looks a bit sketchy. That’s all.” I told him. “I’ll see you on the bus then?” He asked me. I nodded my head yes and gave him a smile. “Of course.” I grabbed his hand and squeezed it before letting go.

“Be safe.” he told me and returned a smile. “I will.” I replied back and we both went our separate ways.

As soon as I joined the girls Mera calmed down with the free samples and the crowd of people were slowly dispersing. “Oh! l/n! You have to try this pineapple! It’s so good!” Mera told me as she shoves a sample of the pineapple to my face.

I grabbed it and ate it. The pineapple was filled with a sweet taste and juice spilled into my mouth. “This is good!” I told her with a smile and Mera simply nodded her head yes aggressively. “Okay that’s enough from you!” Yumehara grabbed the rest of the samples from Mera’s hand and placed them back on the table.

She apologized to the store vendor for such troubles and pushed Mera to walk away. “Look guys, there’s some cute bags and keychains over there! Should we check it out?” Kokomi pointed to a store across.

“Oh we can all get matching bags!” Yumehara said and they both quickly walked over there. I slowly walked with Mera by my side as she managed to grab one more free sample and ate it.

When we got to the store Kokomi and Yumehara were already looking at all the bags they had. I went to the keychains where some crochet patterns caught my eye and Mera… Where did Mera go?... Oh well.

I looked through all the crochet items they had and ultimately picked two keychains that both had a crochet of a fish. One fish was blue with white patterns while the other one was a white fish with blue patterns.

Once I paid for them Kokomi started to grab me and the other girls to the bus since we were going to be late. As we saw the bus and the other kids we slowed down our walking speed. “So what did you buy?” Kokomi asked me.

“Oh I bought two keychains of these fish.” I held up the keychains and showed her. “Aw! They’re so cute! Ugh, I wish I bought something from there, but I was too caught up with the store owner giving away some of their bags to me for free!” Kokomi laughed.

“I’m not sure why though.” She shrugged her shoulders as we got onto the bus. Yeah, I can’t guess why they would ever do that either. I mentally rolled my eyes as I got to my seat where Kusuo was already sitting.

On the bus ride to our hotel (finally) I took out the keychains. “Look what I bought Kusuo.” I said and smiled as I showed him the keychains. “I thought we could have matching keychains together.” I told him and handed the blue fish with white patterns on it to him.

Kusuo smiled and took the fish in his hand. “I love it. Thank you.” He told me and placed it inside his pocket.

Once we reached our hotel we all gathered around in the lobby as Hairo spoke to us about how the rest of the day will look like. “Alright, listen up! Dinner is at 1800 hours in the first floor dining hall!” He told us.

“Each class has 20 minutes to take a bath. After that you'll have free time, but you’re not allowed to leave the hotel.” He announced as the teachers stood to the side. After he finished we all got our room numbers and who our roommates will be.

I looked at the paper they gave us and saw that the boys were a floor above the girls and my roommates were with Yumehara, Mera, Kokomi and three other girls from another group.

I walked up to Kusuo as everyone went to their rooms to settle down and get ready for dinner. “Who did you room with?” I asked him. He showed me his paper and pointed to a box. “Oh… Good luck with them.” I made a sour face when I saw he was paired up with Takahashi and his group.

“Yeah, well I at least there aren’t any bugs. This place seems pretty clean.” He told me. I nodded my head in agreement. “Yeah this place does seem clean. Anyway, I better get going. I’ll see you at dinner.” I told him.

“Alright, I’ll see you at dinner.” He replied back and we went our separate ways.

When I joined my roommates it wasn’t all bad. The three other girls from another group had already put their stuff down and changed clothes, so they left the room first. My group were coming inside last so we were still putting our stuff down.

As I took some of my stuff out for the next two days my phone rang. I picked up my phone and saw it was my mom who was calling. I answered the call and held the phone up to my ear.

“Hi mom.” I said. “Hey sweet heart. How’s everything over there?” She asked me. I took out some clothes I was going to change in as I answered. “Everything’s fine here. At first I thought they were going to cancel the trip because of the typhoon, but we got lucky.”

“I heard about that. Yeah I’m glad that you got to go on the trip after all.” She said. “Yeah… How’s dad?” I asked her. “He’s doing fine. We’re still trying to figure out the whole moving back so you know, a lot of working.” She said in a soft voice.

I could hear the tiredness in her voice. They might not say it, or show it, but I could tell when their job becomes overbearing. “Just make sure to take breaks every once in a while.” I told her. “Yes we know. Don’t worry about us, just make sure to have fun and be safe over there.” Mom told me.

“l/n are you almost ready for dinner?” Kokomi whispered to me. I looked at her and saw everyone else already changed and ready for dinner. “Oh! Hey mom I gotta go. Dinner is almost here so I got to change.” I quickly said.

“Alright, I’ll talk to you later then.” She said. “Mhm, bye.” I said. “Bye bye.” Mom replied back and I hung up. I put my phone down, grabbed my clothes and quickly went to the bathroom to change.

Once I was done we all headed down to the dining hall. The boys saved us a seat for us to sit. I sat down at the table floor across from Kusuo that had cushions for us to sit on. When we got our food Mera ate furiously.

“Wow Mera, you sure do it a lot in such little time.” Kaidou commented. “Yeah, she even ate all the snacks I bought for the trip.” Yumehara added. Mera put her empty bowl of rice out. “More rice please!” She mumbled as her mouth was still filled with rice.

I slowly ate my food as I watched Mera get another bowl of rice and eating it just as quickly. I was afraid Mera was going to choke on her food. “Hey so where are we going tomorrow?” Kokomi asked Yumehara, who sat next to her.

Yumehara took out a pamphlet which had all of our activities for the entire trip. “Let’s see, first we have the pineapple garden.” She started with. Mera looked at her as drool started to form. “Pineapple!?” Mera said. “You’re that hungry even though you’re already eating?” Kokomi exclaimed.

“After that we’re going to the aquarium.” Yumehara continued. “Fish!?” Mera said. Those fish aren’t for eating Mera. As the girls continued to talk more about the trip, there was a small stage in front of the room where students would go up and perform. It’s pretty stupid but some were laughable.

I put my focus back on the group where I caught the last conversation of Yumehara and Kokomi. “Shall we go take a bath now?” Kokomi smirks. Yumehara chuckled. “Sounds good.” what the fuck!? “They’re acting weird, what are they up to!?” Kaidou said softly. The girls continued to laugh and talk to themselves.

I ignored the girls, guessing they’re gonna do something stupid that involves Kaidou and Kusuo. Once I finished dinner Kusuo decided to walk me back to my room.

“So what are you going to do after taking a bath?” I asked him as we turned a corner. “Well first I have to make sure Takahashi’s group doesn’t do anything stupid, then I’ll have to find a place quiet to rest for a bit.” He told me as we reached my room.

“What about you?” He asked me. “Me? Well I’m not sure. I’ll probably just stay in my room after taking a bath. I already know the girls are going to do something that involves you and Kaidou.” I told him.

“Yup, I already knew that too. They plan on inviting us to play a card game.” He told me. “I could try to stop them so you can have some peace and quiet.” I offered. “It’s alright. I’ll just go outside at the beach and rest there.”

I nodded my head. “Alright, you sure you don’t want me to come with? I can make sure you don’t get interrupted, plus make sure you get back to the hotel.” I added. He nodded his head no quickly. “No, it’s dangerous for you to be out there at night with no one watching.” He told me.

“Okay, but I won’t be alone . You’ll be there in case something does happen.” I argued back. “Nope, I’ll be sleeping so I won’t be aware of many things. So you missy, will be staying right here.” He opened the door to my room and gestured for me to go inside.

I glanced inside the room then back at Kusuo. “Fine, but I’ll be watching from outside. You never know what those girls will do.” I told him and walked through the doorway. “Alright…” Kusuo said. I stood in the doorway facing him as he faced me.

Kusuo took a glance down both sides of the hallway before gazing at me. “Goodnight y/n” he smiled. “Goodnight Kusuo.” I said back. He leaned in and we kissed for a while until Kusuo pulled back quickly.

He cleared his throat. “Anyway, I have to get going. Don’t want to get caught being around here.” He told me. I laughed. “Okay, bye.” I waved at him before he disappeared.

I stood there for a minute, still feeling the kiss he gave me. “What are you doing just standing there?” Mera spoke up from behind me. I screamed and turned around, almost falling out of the room.

“Mera!?” I whispered loudly, not wanting to get in trouble for screaming. “Wha- How long were you standing there!?” I asked her and closed the door behind me. “For a while?...” She said and shoved a piece of chicken in her mouth.

I didn’t even question where she got the chicken from. “So you… saw the whole thing?” I cautiously asked. She nodded her head yes. My cheeks began to warm up. “I kind of think it was cute. You too kissing goodnight.” She told me and grabbed her stuff for the bath.

“Oh, thanks?” I said and went to grab my things as well. “You coming too?” Mera asked as she took out another piece of chicken. Where is she getting them you ask? I don’t know and I don’t wanna know. “Yeah.” I said and we both walked out together towards the bathrooms.

I took a bit longer taking a bath since I still had to be careful of my stitches. Mera didn’t mind that I took a bit long since it gave her more time to relax. Once done, we both headed back to our rooms where we encountered Kokomi and Yumehara.

“Oh there you two are!” Kokomi said to us. “Hey.” I said and went to put my stuff away, as did Mera. “Oh hey guys! We’re going to go see if some of the guys want to play cards with us. Wanna join?” Yumehara asked us as Kokomi held a pack of Uno cards.

Me and Mera looked at each other and we both agreed. I looked back at them. “No thanks. I’m good. I think I’ll get some sleep early.” I politely declined. “Oh, well, alright then. See you later!” Yumehara said and they both walked out the room.

I laid on my bed as I scrolled through my phone for a bit. I decided to call my mom one more time but she never picked up. Guess she’s busy with work again. I locked my phone and stared at the photo of Kusuo and Yuuta sleeping together on the couch. I smiled at the fond memory. I haven’t seen Yuuta in a while. I wonder how he's doing.

I let out a sigh of boredom. “So what are you going to do Mera-” I got up to look at her and saw she was already stuffing her face with snacks. “Oh- did you want some?” She asked me and handed me a bag of chips.

“Uh… no I’m fine, thanks.” I told her and walked towards the door. “I’m going to take a walk. I’ll be back soon.” I told her and walked out the room, closing the door behind me.

I made my way outside towards the beach where Kusuo said he’ll be. As I walked I found Kokomi near the lounge chairs on the beach and as I took a closer look at what she was doing I freaked out.

“Kokomi!” I called out to her. She stopped reaching her hand towards Kusuo’s head. I ran towards her, my heart racing. “Wha- what are you doing?” I asked her as I saw Kusuo was still asleep. Kokomi stood up straight acting all confused.

“What are you doing here?” She asked me. “I asked first. What are you doing here?” I asked back. She glanced at Kusuo. “Well I saw Saiki was asleep and didn’t want him falling on his hair clips. So you know as a good friend I thought to take them out.” She smiled nervously.

If she did that, who knows what his powers will unleash. “Oh I see. Well I don’t think he’ll like that. He doesn’t like anyone touching his hair clips without his permission.” I quickly told her. “Not even me.” I added.

“Oh.” She covered her mouth. “Well good thing you came to the rescue. Haha.” She laughed. I need to get her out of here. “Well Yumehara was looking for you.” I lied. “She kept asking around. I think she’s getting worried.” I pointed back to the hotel.

“Yumehara? But didn’t I tell her I was going to be outside for a bit.” Kokomi thought to herself. Crap. “Well it has been a while since she last saw you.” I told her. “I guess you’re right. But what about Saiki? I can’t just leave him alone out here.” She told me.

Why are you acting like his girlfriend isn’t here? “Don’t worry about that. I’ll make sure Kusuo gets back to the hotel. You better get going though.” I quickly told her. “Right then… I’ll see you back in the room. Bye y/n!” She smiled at me and slowly walked away.

I watched her as she made her way through the hotel doors and to the stairs. I let out a sigh of relief. That was a close one. Almost had an incident there. I looked down at Kusuo. I should give him some space.

I was about to walk away when I felt a tug on my wrist that held me back. Wha- I looked back to see Kusuo had woken up and held onto me. “Where are you going?” he softly asked me.

What in the daja vu? “Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you up. I just had to-” Kusuo smiled at me. “I know. I heard the whole thing. I was just pretending to sleep.” He admitted. I walked back so I wasn’t turning my head so much to face him.

“Thank you for getting rid of her.” He told me. I smirk. “See? I told you I should’ve been here.” I told him. He rolled his eyes and pulled me down to him. “Just sit here with me.” He told me and I sat on the side of the seat then let go of me.

Kusuo’s hand went up to my face where he moved a piece of hair away from my face. “I’m glad you’re here.” He told me. I sheepishly smiled. I looked away, towards the ocean. This is almost like my dreams. “Do you want to go into the water?” He asked me.

I looked back. “Only if you want to.” I told him. He smiled and sat up. “You know I’ll always agree to do anything with you.” He said and took off his shoes and socks. I smiled excitedly and did the same.

We both got up hand in hand and began walking towards the ocean waves. Sand was getting in between my toes but quickly washed away when the cold water rushed towards my feet. I kept walking, Kusuo following right behind, until the water was up to our ankles.

Kusuo walked up next to me, our side close to each other they were almost touching. I stared at the horizon. Something I’ve done so many times in my dream that this almost felt natural. “I’m glad you’re here too, Kusuo.” I told him in between the crashes of the ocean waves.

The moon was out tonight, without a cloud in the sky. Birds flew around every once in a while. Going from palm tree to palm tree, catching food to feed themselves. The wind picking up speed every now and then too.

It was nice here. I yawned and checked my phone. Shit, it’s past curfew. “Kusuo, we have to get back-” I looked at him.

“Want to sleep in my bed back home?” He asked me. I tilted my head at the odd question he said. “What?” I said. “I don’t feel like sleeping with the boys. They snore too loud.” He told me. How would you know that?

I looked back at the hotel, its lights still bright as people inside the rooms either were staying up or heading to bed. “Please?” he begged. Kusuo never begs like this before, unless coffee jelly was involved.

“Alright, but what about the girls? They’ll know I’m not there and get worried.” I told him. “It’s fine. I’ll deal with that.” He smirked and put his arm around my shoulders. Suddenly we teleported into his dark room.

Our feet were dry with our shoes and socks teleported here with us as well. Kusuo pulled me towards his bed and we both climbed under the blankets. He immediately wrapped his arms around me as I faced him.

I stared at him with tired eyes as his were already closed. “Goodnight y/n” He whispered to me. “Goodnight Kusuo.” I whispered back and buried my face into his neck.

I had a feeling Kusuo was exhausted from today but I never knew how exhausted until now. I smiled as I realized he’s almost like his dad.

Kusuo felt warm, his arms acting like a shield around me as we both slept in peace.
