Chapter Text
Lily settled back into the couch, pressing play on the movie she had chosen. It was one of her favorites, a lighthearted romantic comedy that always made her smile. As she munched on her popcorn, she couldn’t help but giggle at the antics on screen, but her mind kept drifting back to John B’s messages.
Every time she thought about their conversation, a blush crept across her cheeks. The warmth of his words lingered in her thoughts, and she felt a giddy excitement bubble inside her. Just as she reached for another handful of popcorn, her phone buzzed again, making her jump slightly.
She grabbed her phone, her heart racing at the thought of what he might say this time. It was exciting and thrilling to know John B. was that interested in her as she was pulled in.
John B: What movie are you watching?
Lily couldn’t help but smile, her fingers quickly typing a response.
Lily: Just a rom-com. Thought I’d unwind a little after the craziness of the night!
John B: Nice! I’m more of an action movie guy, but I can get behind a good rom-com if it means spending time with someone interesting.
Her heart fluttered at his words. She could practically hear his playful tone through the text. She loved all genres of movies and would often think of her as the character of the movies.
Lily: Someone interesting? You sure you’re not just saying that?
John B: I’m serious! You’re intriguing. Most girls wouldn’t sneak off like that at a party, let alone kiss a guy they just met.
Lily felt her cheeks heat up, her heart racing. “Intriguing” felt like a compliment, and it sent her thoughts spinning. She is blushing and smiling at the same time with his compliments.
Lily: Well, I guess I like a little adventure.
John B: Adventure, huh? You should come out with us next time. We can create some chaos together.
Lily giggled, the thought of running around with John B filling her with excitement. She could picture the two of them having fun together, but there was a nagging voice in the back of her mind reminding her of the potential consequences.
Lily: You might regret it! I’m not as wild as you think.
John B: I’m counting on it. Plus, I have a feeling you’d surprise me.
She could almost hear the smirk in his voice, and it made her blush again.
Suddenly, a scene from the movie pulled her back, and she found herself laughing at the characters’ silly antics. She paused to munch on her popcorn, the light from the screen flickering against her face as she stole a glance at her phone.
Before she could type a response, another message from John B popped up.
John B: I bet you’re giggling at something cute right now. Care to share?
Lily smiled to herself, her heart soaring.
Lily: Just the movie! It’s really funny.
John B: You should send me a pic of your cute giggling face next time.
She gasped at his boldness, her cheeks burning hotter. The idea of sending him a picture felt both exhilarating and terrifying.
Lily: You think I’d just send you a pic like that?
John B: Why not? I mean, if you want to keep me intrigued, that’s a good way to do it.
Lily bit her lip, torn between shyness and excitement. She wanted to keep him guessing, but she also couldn’t ignore the flutter of anticipation in her stomach.
Lily: Maybe I will… eventually. Just not tonight.
John B: Fine, but I’ll hold you to that!
Lily couldn’t help but laugh at his persistence. Just then, she caught a glimpse of the time on her phone. It was getting late, and she knew she should probably get some rest, but the thrill of her conversation with John B made her hesitate.
She settled back into the couch, a smile still playing on her lips as she continued watching the movie. Every now and then, she glanced at her phone, waiting for another message from him, feeling like a giddy schoolgirl caught in the web of her first crush. Little did she know, John B was just getting started in his quest to find her.
