Chapter Text

Sunny was having a HORRIBLE day.Year would have been better to describe it but this day was particularly horrid.

First her father died. like dead dead. second they're being shipped off to some foster home and third Klaus and Violet are acting super weird, not like they aren't already but is it particularly worse today.

As she's sitting in that stupid banker's car as he rambles about how much he deserves that promotion, she can't help but feel slightly happy that her mother is in jail. mother has started acting weird and tries to control everything her and her siblings do and father just let it slide. yeah they were happy moments but Sunny will definitely not be missing the stupid frilly outfits and long boring books as well as VFD breathing down their necks all the time.

Was that banker always this annoying?

Violet was freaking out. Everything that had just happened went against everything her mother said the Baudelaires stood for.

not only had her mother tried to kill her but she also tried to kill his father and Klaus. VFD had fallen apart right at their house and now they just have to get up and move? her hands couldn't seem to stop shaking,all of the events of that day came back: the lies,porcelain and strangely enough a lot of drugs. As she and Klaus got questioned when Sunny was asleep she didn't know, she couldn't know. Klaus and Violet are already impure, maybe Sunny could be the pure one.

Was her mother always taking those pills?

Klaus was so tired. Mother had found his secret ( the binder he had managed to save from his mother's burning spree) and freaked out. She destroyed the binder and found even more of his secrets (his diary and his old clothes that were not fit for a ‘young lady’).

Klaus doesn't remember much more of what happened, just blood, white substances,and a blue piece of fine china with flowers and gold accents. Now he was in a car driving miles away from home to some foster home.he had nothing to carry with him as his house was now a crime scene after all.

Klaus’s eyes threaten to close for a deep uncomfortable slumber but is awakening from the terror of that early morning.As the annoying banker chatters with his imaginary audience,Klaus feels the discomfort from his itchy frills of her dark blue dress.he can't help but yearn for what his mother was like before,a caring loving and supportive person.she didn't mind his and Violet's transition she just accepted it but recently that changed,now his mother refused to use their names and pronouns.

His hair has grown all the way to his shoulders as mother refused to let him cut it after her switch and always told him “a good woman keeps her husband fed, her hair long and neat and clothing like a princess.” Klaus knows that her mother doesn't believe that. he knows his mother loves her keeping her hair short but, now mother was more faithful to VFD than to anything else

Was the car always this comfortable

Quigley was having a great day. not only had he just got new hair dye AND a lot of beads for kandi!

When he was making a new cuff (a birthday gift) Oliva, the best foster mom EVER, came in and told him that they were getting new kids.she had said some other things but he wasn't listening. all he could really think about was how they would be. Everyone at the home came very brainwashed. When he and his siblings came they were definitely super uncool.

He hadn't realized when Oliva had left to tell his siblings and other kids about the new arrivals. When he eventually realized he raced to Isadora's room. “ISA!” he exclaims as he bursts into the room and jumps on her bed. “WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT?” she screams very irritatedly . “We're getting new kids!!!!!” “Do you think they'll be tall? or polite? or or they're secretly spies from VFD!!!”he says rapidly as Isadora looks at him annoyed. “Oliva literally said that they ended VFD , were you not listening?”.Ohhhhhh that makes sense he doesn't really know because he stopped listening when Oliva said new kids. “I just heard new people were coming and stopped listening".Isadora sighs heavily and says “Just get out your color is giving me a headache.”Quigley chuckles and says as he walks out “Ok Morticia Addams!”

Wait, when would it be dinner?

Isadora was bored. it was like everyone had something to do except her. Quigley was making kandi, Duncan was hanging out with Carmelita ( how the hell did they become friends), Fiona was at their neighbors house studying their mold and Zick Zack was handing out newspapers. while Isadora had writer's block and had already did her makeup

As Isadora looks at the ceiling Oliva opens the door. “ Isadora there's going to be some new kids here, three to be precise, you'll be sharing a room with one of them.
VFD is dead thanks to them”
Oliva says and starts to speak again “they'll arrive soon do be nice this time” Isadora scoffs but Oliva doesn't hear her as she has already gone to Quigley to tell him the same thing.

Well, her day just got interesting. with the revelation that newcomers were coming she gets a spark of inspiration for a couplet

She writes in her black commonplace book and starts to think of even more couplets when suddenly Quigley barges into her room and exclaims “ISA!” as he jumps on her bed.”WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT?” she yells irritated from Quigley's shenanigans. “We're getting new kids!!!!!” “Do you think they'll be tall? or polite? or or they're secretly spies from VFD!!!”he says rapidly. Isadora rolls her eyes and says “Oliva literally said that they ended VFD , were you not listening?”. Quigley had a look of surprise before saying “I just heard new people were coming and stopped listening”.Of course he did Quigley could be quite the airhead at times. she sighs and says “Just get out your color is giving me a headache.” Quigley giggles and says as he walks out “Ok Morticia Addams!” as he leaves Isadora can't help but feel relieved they could be a lot at times

Wait, did Oliva say one of the kids was going to stay with her?

Duncan wasn't ready. As everything Oliva just said began to sink in, Duncan can't help but feel joyous but deeply worried.

joyous that he has more people to journal about and who are out of VFD but also worried of how much they have gone through. Even though he and his siblings didn't go through that much since their parents were not as devoted as the devoted Baudelaire family, they did not let certain things slide. as his mind went to another place Carmelita snapped her fingers in her face and said “ good your back on earth, Now what do you think about my fit ? ” she spins around to show off her sparkly pink outfit

“You look good as always” he replies as Carmelita puts a smirk on her face and says “I know, I always look.” his best friend had always been confident, he doubts there's a single self conscious bone in her body. “So you think the new kids are going to be cakesniffers?” Carmelita says “you call everyone a cakesniffer.” Duncan says dryly. “I don't call you a cakesniffer,” Carmelita says. Duncan sighs and says “you used to” Carmelita playfully slaps him and says “you were a very big cakesniffer before”. They both laugh and continue talking about whatever comes to their minds. Eventually Duncan goes back to his room and lays in his bed.

Wait, what were the new kids' names?

FINALLY after a full day had passed, they got to their new home. as Sunny looks out the window (being the only one awake) she sees a two story house made with brown bricks and covered in vines. as they get closer to the cozy house she sees a tall woman with cat eye glasses, brown hair and is dress in a outfit suited for a librarian

The annoying banker starts to say “ Well Baudelaires this is your new ho-” when he is interpreted by his hoarse, dry cough. Sunny can't help but roll her eyes at the man she starts to wake up her siblings and says “Yea yea this is are new home and if we have any troubles call you, we've done this for the past few hours”

As her newly awakened siblings motion out of the car Sunny hears the annoying banker whisper “Such ungrateful orphans” she ignores his silly comment as they walk to their new home. As they reach the door the lady from before starts to say “ Hello Baudelaires welcome to the sanctuary foster home I am Olivia Caliban and you must be Sunny, Lemony and Clarissa.” Suddenly her original half asleep siblings woke up and Violet started to say “that's not our name I'm Violet he's Klaus.”

Oliva looks shocked and says “I'm so sorry Violet and Klaus,these were the names I was given by Mr Poe,I'll keep those in mind, now come meet the other kids.” Violet and Klaus looked relieved and angry at the same time. One Mr Poe gave the sweet lady the wrong names and two Olivia didn't mind calling them by their actual names.

Could that banker get any worse?

As Sunny walks in the cozy house she notices a guy dressed in neon colors with a stripes of black and rainbow colors in his hair like a rainbow raccoon, a girl dressed in black and purple with sharp eyeliner as if she was a goth warrior, a very short girl around her age dressed in sparkles and pink with a rhinestone jacket and a guy with high top converse and a button up with rainbow splotches.

Oliva introduces them and apparently, rainbow raccoon is named Quigley, goth warrior is Isadora, rhinestones is Carmelita and splotches is Duncan. As Oliva introduces the crew of colors, shine and goth to Sunny and her siblings she can't help but look at them as they have been quiet this whole time.

When she looks over shoulder she sees literally hearts in her siblings eyes. She looks at them in disgust at their blatant ogling

“Well since you all are introduced let's get to where you will sleep Baudelaires. Klaus you will be staying with Isadora, Violet you will be staying with Quigley and Sunny you will be staying with Carmelita.” Olivia says all of a sudden two voices shout out “WHAT!?” with tones varying from excited surprise to shocked. “Olivia you have to understand I am NOT sharing my room with a cake sniffer” Sparkles also known as Carmelita says annoyed at the idea of having a roommate. “Wait, was that what you were saying after all?” Quigley asked

“Well it seems you two weren't listening,” Olivia said as if it was a common occurrence. She continues “Baudelaires, your beds are already set up and your new roommate will be showing you around while I make dinner. if you need anything don't be afraid to ask for anything, alright?” Sunny and her nod their heads and follow their new roommates. As they get a tour of their new house Sunny realizes something horrific

As they reached the end of the tour Klaus follows Isadora to their room. As he enters he sees a cozy room with ghost fairy lights,a trans flag, a bunk bed, a vanity, wardrobe and two large bookshelves.

“Alright, you have to take a shower, I've been in Mr Poe's car and it's definitely not hygienic” Isadora says.

“So I wasn't imagining that mold ham smell?” Klaus asked. “not in the slights, here's some of Duncan's old clothes.” Isadora says as he sees a dark red sweater and brown pants neatly fold on the top bunk. as he comes back to the room after getting changed he can't help but notice Isadora's lack of colorful items. The only colors that were in the room were dark and broody.

“What are you doing, Isadora?” Klaus asks as he notices Isadora write down something in a black book. “I'm writing a couplet.” she replies as she continues to write.” isn't that the type of poetry Ogden Nash writes?” Klaus asked curiously. “Yes, it is, I didn't know you fancied poetry.”
Isadora replies.

“I don't, I just love to read and some of the books in my parents library were about poetry.” a feeling of sadness comes over Klaus as he realizes that he'll never be able to finish his parent's extensive library. “What is your favorite poet?” he asked. Their conversation jumped from topic to topic whether it be poetry or their siblings the two talked to each as if they knew each other for years. As they were talking Klaus couldn't help but think

Would Oliva let me cut my hair?

Violet was confused. Even though Oliva claimed they're new bedrooms would be fully set up it seemed as if her room hadn't gotten the memo. “That explains the bed Oliva brought in earlier” Quigley, her new roommate, whispered to himself. “Do you know how to build up a bed?” he asked. “Yes, I do.” she said. “Do you have a ribbon? It helps me think.” she asked looking around the colorful room covered in posters and maps made with neon highlighters

“Oh yeah I do, it should be around here somewhere.” He says as he ruffles through a plastic container labeled ‘crafting material’ eventually he pulls out a neon green ribbon. “it's not your style I'm guessing but it's the only one I have” he says apologetically. Violet smiles as she takes the ribbon and tries to tie her hair. The small ponytail she had was nothing like her one before but at least it was a start.

as the two got to work Violet couldn't help but smile as she hadn't been able to tie hair up in so long. The neon green ribbon was like a little shine of light at the end of a dark tunnel. after a while of silence Quigley says “so do you like to build stuff because you've been smiling this whole time”. “ I like to invent, it's something I used to do a lot,” she says with a grin. “could you tell me about your invention? I've never invented something before but it seems cool.” Quigley said

“Well when I was 12 I made a grandfather clock toaster, it was supposed to toast two pieces of bread each hour” Violet said as she screwed on the side of the bed frame. “What was the issue?” Quigley questioned as he handed Violet a pack of screws. “ The minute hand was five minutes behind because of the gears which was a shame as I had made them myself.” she said while screwing the other side of the bed firmly in place. “WHAT!? THAT'S SO COOL!” Quigley exclaimed. Violet gigged at his excitement as she didn't find it as cool as Quigley put it.

“Well the bed is finished” she says just as they placed the mattress on the bed frame. Their celebration was sadly cut short as they heard a loud shout “ DINNERS READY”.the two quickly got on their feet and went to the dining room. They sat at the table violet close to her siblings and Quigley to his. Suddenly they hear the door open and close. it's at moment violet realizes
