Chapter Text

It was nice being on the surface.

Yes, all of monster kind are spread apart but at least Grillby’s is still right down the road. It is the one year anniversary of the monsters being freed from the underground. There are currently parties all over town but at least Undyne was able to get off from her job at the police station.

Sans is pretending to be napping in his and Papyrus’s living room with the rest of the group around the house. Frisk is talking to Toriel and a sweaty, nervous looking Alphys at the full table of snacks. Papyrus is in the kitchen, making some type of noise. Probably trying to get more snacks, not that they were needed, Asgore is also missing, but the ruckus from the backyard seems to be him and Undyne messing around. Hopefully nothing ends up getting a spear or ax through it…again.

A dirt covered Undyne walks into the living room, stretching. “NYAHHH Asgore you sure got a good hit on me! It took almost half my health points!” Asgore, just as dirty and with the tip of his beard singed, walks in after her and walks right to the snack table.

Papyrus rushes out of the kitchen, both hands filled with snacks. “I, the Great Papyrus, have brought more snacks! Please your majesties eat! Eat!!”

“Thank you Papyrus. Now please sit! You have been running in and out of the kitchen this whole time!” Toriel said while subtly nudging Frisk to Papyrus, who went willingly and had a huge smile.

Frisk grabs Papyrus’s hand and drags them to the couch, begging them to play something with them.

“I am sorry Human, I do not know what we can do. The game console is still broken from the…incident” Papyrus glares off into the distance. “Unless someone has a game that they know?”

Undyne, overhearing the conversation on the couch, quite literally jumps in. “Hey…HEY!! Alphys! What was that human game that we saw in that movie we watched.”

Alphys, knowing what game they were talking about, started to frantically wave their hands. “Uh uh uh I don't know if that is right for this party. It can uhh be confusing? And umm. I.. I really don’t think it would be a good idea.”

“Now now, we don’t know that for sure. Come now Alphys, why don’t you explain it and we decide if it's a good idea or bad idea.” Asgore stated, joining the group in the living room with Toriel.

As they all sat in the living room Alphys explained the game, Truth or Dare. All of the monsters , sans the “sleeping” sans, seem to enjoy the idea and decide to play the game, to the horror (and secret joy) of Alphys.

It started off perfectly normal, Toriel admitted that after years on only snails, she has grown tired of them. Asgore’s hair is now in pigtails right below his horns. Alphys' clothes are now backwards. Papyrus had to drink one of San’s ketchup bottles and was surprised when there was actual ketchup in it. Undyne admitted to still having her stuffed animal from her childhood, a tadpole named Mister.Gills. It all changed when it was Frisk’s turn.

“NAHHHH Human! Truth or Dare! And be careful, I will not hold back” Undyne said with an evil grin on her face, promising pain no matter what the question is.

“Truth” stated Frisk, determined to face whatever is thrown their way.

Undyne started to laugh. “Huhuhu as we all know, you have fought a lot of monsters in your time in the underground. Who was the strongest!” This caught the attention of Sans, who cracked open an eye slightly unnoticed by everyone.

Frisk started to get nervous, not knowing if they should be 100% truthful or lie. They could lie but that is against the spirit of the game. Everyone else has been truthful so far. They should honor the game just like everyone else is. But telling the truth would definitely open up a can of words that they, and sans, would not like open.

Taking a peak at sans, Frisk noticed that his eyes are slightly open. From the little Frisk can read from Sans, he is also on edge but is letting Frisk decide their own fate.

“Undyne! Please do not bring up Frisk's past of them fighting all those monsters! My heart can't take it! Please pick a new truth for my child.” Toriel cried to an uncaring Undyne, who now has a Papyrus on her side.

“Human! I am also interested in who you think is the strongest! I would also like to know where you have the Great Papyrus on that list!” Cheered on Papyrus to the dismay of Toriel and Asgore, knowing this will most likely put him on thin ice with Toriel for a little bit.

As the group started to get louder with their different opinions, Alphys cut in. “Guys please! Let Frisk answer their question! There are no take backs as stated by the rules. Now please, Frisk your answer?”

“That was hot.”

“UNDYNE!!”

Frisk, now chuckling with the others at the couple, decides what they will do. “Umm Undyne and Mettaton were the hardest. Yeah. Definitely those too. Yup yup.” Frisk, now sweating, hoping they accept the answer and the game continues.

Sadly, apparently the guilt of lying was showing on their face too much. “Nah ah Frisk. I can see it on your face. That was a lie.” Undyne stated with confidence. “If you can’t tell the whole truth, then we can spare instead.” An evil grin started to grow on Undyne’s face.

Frisk, now extremely nervous, tried to play it off but no one was buying it.

Toriel, trying to be helpful, jumped in. “My child, it's ok. Just tell Undyne the truth and then we can continue alright?”

Taking in a deep breath, Frisk spat out the true list “ METTATON, ASGORE, FLOWEY, UNDYNE AND” the last monster was mumbles under their breath. No one heard who it was but that didn’t matter at the moment.

“But, we never fought Frisk. How am I on your list?” Asgore asked, completely confused.

Toriel, just as confused as Asgore, “Yes, that’s right. I arrived and stopped the fight before it could even happen. How is Asgore on the list Frisk?”

Chapter 2: Mystery Man #5

Summary:

Nothing is adding up. Things don't make sense. Who is the last monster on Frisk's list?

Notes:

Yes, another chapter within the same night. Don't ask why, I don't even know. But enjoy!

Chapter Text

Everyone was looking at Frisk with confused faces. Everyone wants to know how Frisk has fought Asgore without anyone else ever knowing. All the while, Alphys is muttering about a flower under her breath, looking off into the distance. She is trying to understand what about the flower that ran away so strong. What exactly happened in that fight with Frisk?

A timid Frisk, whose eyes were jumping from monster to monster, spoke, "I… can explain?”

But before they were able to, Papyrus spoke up. “Frisk. You said 5 names. Mettaton makes sense because it is Mettaton. And Mettaton is amazing! Of course, they would be one of the strongest! Asgore, whose fight ended before it even started, which does not make any sense to me. Flowey, but I don’t understand when or why you fought him. Seeing he is my very close friend,” Papyrus continued rubbing his hand on his chin, standing up to start pacing around the coffee table.

“Then you said Undyne, which makes sense because she is Undnye! But I don’t understand why she is rated above Asgore since he usually defeats her when they spar.” At this point, all the guests are staring at Papyrus, shocked at some of the points he is making.

“And then the last monster. You didn’t want us to hear their name, didn’t you? Well, I, The Great Papyrus, think you should be proud of your accompaniments and proudly state that name!” Papyrus put his feet proudly on the coffee table while the fake wind blew through his scarf.

Undyne shot up and wrapped her arms around papyrus. “Nah ah! Papyrus is right, Human! You should be proud of your battles! Tell me who is the strongest so I can fight them for first place! NAHHHHH!” By the end of her speech, Undyne picked up Frisk and started to lift them above their heads.

Seeing this, Toriel quickly grabbed Frisk from the air and hugged them close. “Please, Undyne, be careful with my child. What would I do if they got hurt?”

Undyne, sheepishly, “Sorry, Toriel, I just got excited at the thought of beating someone up who is stronger than me.” Off to the side, Sans closes his eyes to finally take a nap, fully understanding what is going to happen soon. He will need all the energy that he can get.

Asgore, trying to calm everyone down, stood up and put his hand on the shoulders of Undyne and Papyrus. “Ok, everyone, let's calm down. Why don't we let Frisk answer the question, and then we can move on? OK?”

“You’re right, sweetie. Frisk, please let us know who the monster is so we can continue the game”

“NAHHHH, come on, HUMAN!! Tell us! I can feel my blood pumping already!”

“Neh Neh Neh, yes please Frisk, reveal the name! I am most curious.”

“What happened during the flower fight, Frisk!”

“Everyone, try to calm down! We can’t ask all these questions all at..”

“IT WAS SANS OK!”

“...once.”

“SAN? ARE YOU SERIOUS?? THERE’S NO WAY THAT…” Undyne started ranting and raving nonstop.

Papyrus, not understanding this at all, states, “MY LAZY  BROTHER WHO IS QUITE LITERALLY SLEEPING IN THE CHAIR RIGHT THERE?” Pointing to the sleeping Sans.

“Oh my, I have a feeling we aren’t going to continue this game, Asgore.”

“Toriel, I think you are right.”

“...AND HE JUST SLEEP ON THE JOB. THE MOST EFFORT I'VE SEEN HIM PUT INTO SOMETHING WAS HIS COMEDY BIT THAT ONE TIME AT METT…” Undyne continues.

Alphys, clutching her head as a headache is forming, starts speaking to herself, “Oh, my head. It's just not scientifically possible that Sans is stronger than Undyne… Sorry Sans…”

“Non-taken”

“Unless this is one of those situations where a weak anime character finally meets a master to teach them… their… ways… Sans? You’re awake?”

“ …ELLS HOT DOGS. WHY HOT DOGS? I HAVE NO CLUE WHERE HE GOT ALL OF THEM. THE ROYAL GUARDS HAVE CONFISCATED…”

Asgore is trying and failing to calm Undyne down.

While all the monsters were talking over one another, Sans decided that he would not be here when Undyne snapped out of her endless rant and tried to sneak out. But sadly, Papyrus knows all of Sans's tricks. This means he was prepared by staring at a guilty-looking Sans with big puppy dog eyes that are silently asking him questions. And then Papyrus asked the big question:

“When.”

Chapter 3: No. Not Another thing

Summary:

More and more things are being revealed. How many more is there left? Surely they are all revealed already! Right?

Notes:

Small chapter. I am open to ideas if anyone has any! Thank you for the Kudos!!

Chapter Text

There is an awkward pause throughout the whole house. Papyrus and Sans are in an intense staring contest. No one knows what they should do or say. That's because Papyrus is right.

When did Sans and Frisk fight? And why did no one hear about it? There has to be an explanation for this, right?

Torial, not knowing what to do in this situation, broke the silence. “Uhh, my child. You must be mistaken, right? We would have heard of this by now. It has been a year since we escaped.”
Sans stopped the contest with Papyrus and made direct contact with Frisk. He then suddenly stood up and put his hands into his jacket pockets.

“Hey. Frisk. You opened this can of worms. You deal with it.” Sans chuckles. “This is all on you, kid. Enjoy.” he starts to walk to the front door.

Papyrus, also getting up, started to run to Sans to stop him. “ Sans!! Wait! We need answers!”

But, the second Papyrus tried to grab him, all he had was thin air. Sans…vanished? Making everyone stare at the empty spot.

Undyne, whose jaws were on the ground, quietly said, “Did Sans…teleport?”

The only person who didn’t seem shocked was Papyrus himself. Papyrus just looks annoyed, with his hands on his hips and his foot tapping. “Typical. He’ll be back. He better be.” Glared Papyrus.

The Alphys, who looks like she needs a strong drink, decided that there were too many things to focus on. So she said, “One thing at a time, alright?” Everyone nods in agreement. “Ok, so Sans… teleportation aside. Frisk, when did you and Sans fight? And what exactly happened during it?”

They all return to their original seats, slowly picking at the snacks that are on the table, waiting for Frisk to be ready to speak. Undyne seems to be wiggling around in her seat, but Alphys hand is a constant reminder to stay quiet.

Frisk, not knowing where to start, decided to start where they knew they should. “ It's a long story. I’ve uhh talked to Sans about this uhhh recently. That's why he, uh, knows about this. Cause I told him.” Lied Frisk.

“There is this thing I have called Determination, and it is a very powerful tool. It helps me control time.” Continued Frisk, which made Alphys nervous and shocked everyone else.

Undyne, now clutching her head, yelled, “First teleportation, and now time travel? What’s next?! Alternative timelines! Neh Neh Neh.” By the end, she was laughing, not noticing Frisk's face. But someone noticed.

Asgore, noticing the look of panic on Frisk's face, sighed. “There are also alternate timelines that aren't there, Frisk.” Which pointed out their face to everyone else, causing Undyne to scream into a pillow.

At least Frisk was understanding, looking very sheepish, breaking everyone's brains for the third time that night.
