He was panting as he ran home, eager and curious to meet his supposed ‘twin’.

He got an ominous message in class from his mom saying “come home quick. Your twin sister is back”.

It was ominous because, as far as he knows–his twin was killed when they were 5 years old.

He found out about her when he was 10. His mom and dad were telling him stories from when he was a baby. In almost every photo, there was another baby next to him.

“Mom, who's that?”

Both his parents went silent, glancing at each other before speaking.

“That was your twin sister.”

They didn't tell him anything else, and he didn't press. 

It was a hard topic for them.

He was told the truth when his friend, Shindo came over for the first time and asked about the girl who only showed up in pictures of when he was below 5.

He didn't have an answer. So he asked his mom. 

It took a few tries to convince her and his dad to tell him what happened, but he felt an odd loss that was always there become more noticeable when he found out that she had likely died after she was kidnapped.

The only thing that didn't make sense was that her body was never found, and her death never confirmed.

This was all to say that he felt like some prank was being pulled on him, or maybe he was dreaming - when he saw that message.

He made it to his family's apartment in no time, quickly unlocking and opening the door, not knowing what to expect when he looked inside and saw his mom and dad hugging a girl with the same eyes as himself looking at him with a smile and tears in her eyes.

His twin sister was alive.

Her name was Aki Miyamura.
