   "I forgot you need to breath!" - how can Wen Ning get cuter?!?!?! And your comment about which struggle was so real. My first thought when you got to it was "when was this originally published? What struggle were we in? And why the frack is it still relevant when the podfic is posting?"

   Something Fierce!! aka an excuse for me to write Jiang Cheng and explore a pairing that makes wildly less sense outside of the Xiolian-verse. Wen Ning does fit his requirements, though.

   (anything I write is at least a little weird on a fundamental level, I think. it's much more fun that way.)

   YAY I have way too much fun with the tags so it always fills me with glee when people find them funny enough to comment on them

   When I heard you laugh after "Here's what actually happens", I punched the air like yesssss. That's one of my favorite lines I've ever written in any of my fics, so I'm glad it got a giggle.

   "I didn't know that I had accepted that truth into my heart, but I think I kind of have." Honestly? Me too. Universal truth of Nie Mingjue Can Get It.

   Just a miscellaneous sidenote, but there's something about hearing things you've written read that knocks the breath out of you. All the emotion and the pauses you aren't sure if you can convey throught text and punctuation is there. You're a great podficcer, is my point, and at any given point in a recording of yours I am mentally facedown on the floor in a puddle of feelings.

   and I unpause it just to have the comment about perfect lines and podfic take me absolutely the fuck out. I'm gonna cry onto my graham crackers, dude. I gotta say, though, as much my soul would vacate my body re: dramatic and edited reading, Xioalian-verse is at heart a fix-it love letter to the reader, so getting to hear all the thoughts and laughter and side comments is the best thing ever, and the emotional equivalent of being handed a golden retriever puppy and a cup of hot cocoa.

   (I kind of feel like I should apologize for how much Jiang Cheng drops the f-bomb in this fic, but I think if there was an ancient Chinese equivalent it was probably going through his brain a lot, and if anyone in MDZS deserves to say "fuck", it's him.)

   "This fic is convincing me that Jiang Cheng's horny grip is deserving of love as well." Shaking with silent laughter about that line. His horny grip is permanently on Zidian!

   I also love the contrast of Wen Ning's quiet, calm voice with Jiang Cheng's snappy, cranky one.

   I think I've mentioned before how well-suited your voice is to peaceful and calm moments. It brings the calm out of the story and into the moment, and that was evident with the lotus-seed scenes during Jiang Cheng's Reluctant Vacation. It also makes the more serious scenes, like Jiang Cheng and Wen Ning's lakeside conversation, hit with more gravity. [insert marge_simpson_i_just_think_it's_neat.jpeg here]

   THE READERS' NOTE ABOUT MAKING OUT. HELLLP. A MORE COMPLICATED SOCIAL PROBLEM INDEED. thankfully also one the cultivation world does not have to address until someone performs Advanced Necromancy again. but also I am so damn charmed by that being your first thought. hopefully someday that will be everyone's first thought, which sounds a lot weirder now that I write it out, but you know what I mean. canon-typical homophobia and transphobia is my nemesis in the vein of Kate Beaton's nemesis comic; I'm fighting it but engaging with it fuels me. This metaphor got away from me.

   The batshit stressful times feel neverending, yeah. At least via fic and podfic the well-wishes remain evergreen also.

   ANYWAYS. THIS PODFIC. IT WAS SOOOO GOOD. I LOVED IT SO MUCH!!!! exactly the right combination of silly and serious and sweet in the way you read it. I'm going to hop-skip to Pheonixfeather now, because Motherhood and Gardening is two (2!!!!) hours and I want to save it for my next "time to chill" night. which is probably tonight, as I am not known for my discipline. anyways. ten billion kudos to you forever and thank you once more for podficcing it!!!

    "for decades at a time, sometimes" is a mood. I've been writing long enough/seriously enough (although that feels strange to type) that for me, at least, I know have to Make Myself, or I'll procrastinate forever. at the end, though, I stand by the idea that fanfic is supposed to be fun. only chase your brain like a border collie chasing sheep if it's enjoyable in the end.

    I love the way you narrate wen qing's internal voice! and then her external one sounds similar to jiang cheng's in a way that makes me very fond of them both. cranky protective siblings.

    re: wen qing and jiang cheng, it's because wen qing is also very gay in the xiaolian-verse!

    re: wq not telling wangxian about their yao baby, that's a plot hole on my part, but I like to think she thought that they both deserved it and could handle it.

    "...and I don't want A-Xian to raise me again if I do." Your delivery of this line was so, so good. I rewound so I could listen to it again. So certain and so final. Augh!!!

    the whole last part of the fic, the array through the ending, you read it so beautifully, so full of emotion. trying not to tear up right now at the feeling you put into everyone's voices, everyone's lines!

    on a lighter but related note, the noise you made after the last line of the fic is something that has escaped me many times when I'm overwhelmed by Feelings from a fic I'm reading. getting someone else to make that sound feels like a badge of honor, tbh.

    I had a question about the RSS feed. It seems like RSS feeds generated by archive.org tend to be a little broken? This fic specifically is fine, but a lot of others like Stray Cat Strut are fully missing, or a lot of chapters are missing (this is the case eg. for True Gold and Thousandth Step). Do you think you could fix this maybe? I don't know how many others are even using the RSS so it's fine if you don't want to/can't spend more time trying to fix it, I don't know how hard that would be, but I personally really appreciate having the option. Thank you! :)

       Hmm, that's interesting! I know the archive.org feeds only go back 50 works, so it's definitely going to be limited that way - because I posted Stray Cat Strut with weeks between and Thousandth Step with a hiatus, that explains why both of those were cut off. But True Gold is surprising, since I posted those mostly straight through, with only a few 'Once More With Feeling' in between.

       The style I'm using is good for keeping up, but definitely not so good for going back... hm.
