Chapter Text
Jun-Ho remembers when his brother went missing the first time.
It was 2015 and his sister in law was pregnant and deathly sick.
Jun-Ho was scared that maybe a criminal kidnapped him or killed him and hid his body somewhere no one would find.
His sister in law had comforted him and told him that neither of those fears were the case, and that In-Ho was probably assigned on a secret case.
Even when she was the one who was dying, his sister in law never faltered to comfort him and be there for him.
He remembered spending most of that week with her, matching shows on the TV the hospital provided, and playing card games that Jun-Ho brought from the gift shop.
He would stay over night, making sure that she didn’t have to spend one minute alone.
But when he woke, he found that she had passed away in her sleep.
She was dead, and Jun-Ho was heartbroken.
The doctors kept asking him questions on what to do with her. It’s not like they could keep her body in the hospital, and since her husband was missing they kept asking him what to do.
Jun-Ho didn’t know what to do, he was overwhelmed with grief for his sister and loss and fear for his brother.
But before he fell into a complete emotional meltdown, his brother had ran through those hospital doors yelling how he had the money to pay for his wife’s treatment.
When In-Ho was told that it was too late, something hardend within him.
In-Ho was still always kind towards him, but he would spend less and less time with him, spending more time at work to distract him from his grief.
And then In-Ho quit his job at the police station, stepping down from the major crimes division while Jun-Ho stepped up hoping to be more like his brother.
And then Jun-Ho found himself busy with work. He still wanted to spend time with In-Ho when he was off, but his brother’s new mysterious job made that difficult.
So the two spend a few years with little contact and no time spent together.
Jun-Ho found himself tired of this, he missed his bother dearly so he visited his apartment, only to find him once again missing.
He found a card, got some helpful information from a broke man in debt named Gi-Hun, and with that he had a goal in mind.
He would find his brother.
He followed the car that took the players to the boat, killed one of the guards and infiltrated the islands where the games were being held.
When his cover was blown, he switched his disguise to that of a waiter.
He served the drinks, and looked for ways to collect more evidence to take down the games and find his brother.
But one of the VIP’s took interest in him, keeping him by his side to serve him drinks.
Jun-Ho was uncomfortable, but he put up with it knowing that the game would be over soon and that Jun-Ho could leave and go back to his mission.
But when the VIP took him to his room, thats when things seemed to go downhill.
The Vip asked Jun-Ho to satisfy him, not really giving him a choice.
Jun-Ho tried grabbing at the VIP’s Private so that he can put a stop at what he was trying to do and get any type of evidence and information from him.
But the VIP grabbed Jun-Ho’s wrist, putting a stop to that action.
Jun-Ho used his free wrist to try and grab his gun, but somehow, even at his old age, the VIP slapped the gun out of his hand.
The Gun slides across the room, leaving Jun-Ho defenseless.
“How you managed to sneak a gun In here is surprising. I should tell your boss about this and get your fired or killed.” The VIP threatened.
Jun-Ho tries pulling his wrist away from the VIP’s hand, but the VIP quickly grabbed his other wrist and shoved him to the floor.
“I don’t have to tell your boss about how snuck a gun onto the island. It can be our little secret.” The VIP said.
Jun-Ho tried to push the VIP off of him, but the VIP was heavy upon him.
“Get off!” Jun-Ho said.
“Clearly you won’t satisfy me in the first way that I asked you to. So I’ll just have to take what I want.” The VIP stated.
Jun-Ho tried fighting against the VIP, but the effort was for not. The VIP used him and dragged him back to the VIP longe. The game long over by that point.
The VIP sat down on the couch, making Jun-Ho sit next to him. The disgusting old man telling Jun-Ho how much he liked their time together, and that he wished that Jun-Ho was his to keep.
Thats when the VIP summoned the Front Man and asked to buy Jun-Ho.
After very little residence from the Front Man, he soon agreed to let the VIP buy him.
Jun-Ho was angry.
These people were sick, disgusting, awful.
Killing players and making them kill each other. Abusing their employees who were just as desperate for money as the players. Willing to sell them just to keep the games running.
Jun-Ho didn’t care about stopping the games at this point, he just needed to make sure that his brother is ok, that his brother is alive, that his brother is safe.
The Front Man was the person who runs the games, they were important, meaning they should posses a gun, and keep it on their person.
So with this, Jun-Ho lunged at the Front Man, hoping to take his gun and get out of here and find his brother and leave with him by his side.
The Front Man was strong and overpowered him. The VIP complained that he was too feisty and the Front Man took him to another room.
After a bit of back and fourth about morality. Jun-Ho gave up tying to make the Front Man see reason, he would be sold and there was nothing that Jun-Ho could do about it.
Suddenly, The Front man asked Jun-Ho to take off his mask. Jun-Ho would have refused, but there was no point in refusing.
So Jun-Ho took of his mask.
The Front Man stared at him for a moment, before taking off his own mask.
Which revealed the person that Jun-Ho had been looking for this entire time.
Jun-Ho was shocked. What was his brother doing here, in that mask, in that uniform that signified his roll as the overseer, the the man who controlled the games.
The man who led thousands of people to their deaths.
“In-Ho?” Jun-Ho asked. In-ho nodded confirming that it was truly him.
Before Jun-Ho had the chance to speak, his brother spoke first.
“What are you doing in a place like this?” In-Ho asked.
Jun-Ho was surprised by that question.
“What, what am I doing here? I could ask you the same thing.” Jun-Ho stated.
