Notes:

Since Yingdu has ended, the updates to this series will become sporadic and unpredictable. This series was the first thing I wrote for Link Click and its very dear to me. As such, I have some more fics for this series and plans for future instalments but I dont know when I'll get around to them. BUT, the series will NOT be marked complete after instalment 6 because I have things planned! If you stick by me, thank you!

Just as the first instalment was longer in honour of Yingdu E1's airing, so is Instalment 6! If you haven't read the previous instalments, what are you waiting for? And if you haven't watched Yingdu... damn? Lol watch it everyone!

To all the people who were with me as I watched, cried and simped about Yingdu, this is for you! I adore you all! Thank you for making this a memorable experience 💙

Acknowledgements and links to people who contributed to this fic and my socials are in the end notes. Suggestions for possible Guangshi and AllShi fics are always welcome. I can't promise I'll write them all but maybe. As always, feel free to use any tag I used for your fics :D

Comments and Kudos will push me one step closer to writing Guangshi smut so please push me towards my smutty destination! <3

Warm Clothes and Charades.

“Okay, so… don’t get mad,” Cheng Xiaoshi started not even five seconds after Lu Guang walked into their bedroom for the night.

“I won't, even though that beautiful poetry you just recited means I actually should get mad.” Lu Guang shook his head wryly and knelt on the ground before a sheepish Cheng Xiaoshi. Reaching forward, he grabbed his husband's hands and began to trace soothing circles on his knuckles. “So… what has my darling husband, the centre of my universe and the light of my life, done now?”

Cheng Xiaoshi’s face got progressively warmer the more Lu Guang spoke. Curse his partner’s love of reading for biting Cheng Xiaoshi in the ass. He’d burn those books. What even were they teaching Lu Guang to make him so eloquent and sappy?

Cheng Xiaoshi chuckled nervously. “Ah ahaha, well, you see—”

“I don’t but go on.”

Cheng Xiaoshi shot him a glare that Lu Guang pretended not to see. “I felt cold at night so I thought I should buy some warm clothes for myself, and you know I look dashing in browns and blues—”

“Technically, you take my breath away in all colours but please, proceed.”

“If you don’t stop interrupting me, I won't tell you what’s ailing my poor heart!” Cheng Xiaoshi huffed, the burn in his cheeks spreading to his ears. He batted his lashes, trying to get Lu Guang to just—

Lu Guang bit his lip, apparently trying to hold back a laugh, but he was doing a horrid job of it. Cheng Xiaoshi saw the laughter dancing in his pretty grey eyes.

Dammit! Damn Lu Guang and damn his expressive eyes!

“In what world is it fair to be that stunning?”

Lu Guang chuckled. “I could ask you the same question, A-Shi.”

Cheng Xiaoshi buried his face in his hands. How could he say things like that with a straight face? Better yet, how could Lu Guang respond with that so earnestly?

“You were saying.”

“Okay, so, I bought some very pretty clothes—and before you slander my fashion sense, I was with Qiao Ling, and Xu Shanshan and had Xia Fei on call too—” Cheng Xiaoshi cut himself off when Lu Guang’s expression twisted in distaste. “What? You don’t like Xu Shanshan now?”

“Very funny,” Lu Guang retorted, squeezing his hands tightly. The possessiveness and jealousy weren't new to Cheng Xiaoshi. Lu Guang and Xia Fei were friends for lack of a better word but the fact that Lu Guang still acted like an offended cat when the model was brought up by him. It made Cheng Xiaoshi blush.

Irrational? Yes. Hot? Also yes.

Nevertheless, he had to be dramatic before Lu Guang noticed how much he enjoyed that side of him.

“Ouch! This is violence against frail people! I’m calling Officer Xiao to arrest you! How dare you take advantage of this frail wife of yours!”

“You forgot the part where you get to the point, wife.” Lu Guang arched his brow and Cheng Xiaoshi blew away the strand of hair tickling his forehead to appear coy.

“Okay so, there I was, minding my business, putting my new warm clothes on. And for no apparent reason, they’re a little small on me!”

“Uh-huh.” Disbelief was written on every inch of Lu Guang’s face.

“Yes! In ordinary circumstances, I’d love to wear them and show off my abs and all, but since they’re meant to be winter clothes, that’d just defeat their purpose!” Cheng Xiaoshi pulled his hands out of Lu Guang’s, who rolled his eyes and awaited the grand reveal of the charade.

“So, since they're a little small but not too small and they can't be returned and no one in our friend group can benefit from them… I’ve decided to be a generous homemaker and bless you with my terrific fashion sense!” He flailed his arms around, trying to distract Lu Guang before he called bullshit.

“Are you sure you didn’t buy a smaller size on purpose?” Lu Guang questioned, and Cheng Xiaoshi made a show of clutching his heart.

“My husband doesn’t believe me!” he lamented.

Lu Guang nodded, looking three seconds away from scrolling through Xu Shanshan’s social media to find a picture of this trip and finding out the truth.

“Lu Guang,” Cheng Xiaoshi crooned and Lu Guang’s eyes snapped up to meet his own. “I love you so muuuuuch! This much but multiply it by infinity.” He opened his arms as wide as he could and Lu Guang’s expression softened, an adoring smile coming to play on his lips.

“I love you too,” he replied like the helplessly lovesick man he was.

“So you’ll wear them?”

“Since you bought them for me and enlisted three other people to go along with this whole bullshit ploy, sure I would.” Lu Guang smiled and Cheng Xiaoshi blinked, a blush staining his cheeks before he tackled Lu Guang to the ground and smothered him in kisses.

Maybe that was the only way to throw the suspicion off his friends.

Lu Guang chuckled under him and Cheng Xiaoshi sighed, a smile twitched on his lips from where they pressed against Lu Guang's cheekbone.

The Slow Days.

The automated welcome sound made Cheng Xiaoshi grumble. A pair of familiar shoes shuffled into his field of vision.

“Ew,” Xu Shanshan greeted, eyeing Lu Guang’s head in his lap with distaste.

“Nice to see you too,” Cheng Xiaoshi responded, sarcasm oozing from his tone.

Xu Shanshan stuck her tongue out at him. “I came to pick my wedding photos so get your ass off that couch,” she demanded.

“Can’t, Lu Guang’s napping,” he answered matter-of-factly.

“Let him sleep on the couch for a bit then. Dong Yi’s waiting for me, we have a reservation in fifteen.” She folded her arms over her chest, glaring down at Lu Guang as if his mere existence offended her senses.

“No can do.” Cheng Xiaoshi didn’t even look up as he answered, smiling down at his adorable husband. Hm. His hair looks fluffier today for some reason. Cheng Xiaoshi buried his fingers in the white tangles, enjoying the softness against his fingers.

“Well, I can replace you as his pillow until you’re back then,” Xu Shanshan offered. “Just hurry up.”

Cheng Xiaoshi didn’t consider it for a moment. He simply bared his teeth at her like an offended cat.

“No. My husband. My lap.” He stared at her as he spoke before looking back at the peaceful expression on Lu Guang’s face.

“I can get a pillow from your room,” she gritted out, looking more impatient than Cheng Xiaoshi’s ever seen anyone look. He opened his mouth to agree when Lu Guang turned sideways and buried his face in his shirt.

Cheng Xiaoshi froze, fingers pausing in Lu Guang’s hair. He looked down and Lu Guang huffed in his sleep, shifting closer. The movement moved Cheng Xiaoshi’s shirt a little, exposing a sliver of skin that Lu Guang nuzzled contentedly.

“On second thought, it’s the second parcel from the right on the table in the dark room. You’ll see the table as soon as you enter.” His fingers began smoothing out Lu Guang’s bangs again, a sappy smile stretching across his lips.

“Disgusting lovebirds,” Xu Shanshan hissed, stomping towards the dark room.

“Takes one to know one, right?” he called after her.

She flipped him off.

Xu Shanshan was lucky Lu Guang was sleeping with his head in Cheng Xiaoshi’s lap, not on his ass as he seemed to prefer. Cheng Xiaoshi’s face warmed at the thought.

She was back in less than two minutes, slapping cash on the counter as if the counter had made an offending joke.

“I’m surprised, by the way. You rarely let Lu Guang into your dark room and you just sent me there without supervision,” Xu Shanshan observed, opening the front door. “I like it though. Which doesn’t mean I like you, by the way. But I like how you have better priorities now.” And then she was closing the door.

“Yeah… me too,” Cheng Xiaoshi whispered, smiling fondly at the man sleeping in his lap.

Soothing the Nightmares.

Cheng Xiaoshi woke up abruptly, awareness returning to him all at once. Something was wrong. He turned sideways, squinting and saw Lu Guang shivering, tears streaming down his cheeks as he mumbled something Cheng Xiaoshi couldn’t hear.

A nightmare.

He slowly manoeuvred Lu Guang’s shaking body in his arms, trying not to startle him awake. Lu Guang fought back, shaking his head and muttering ‘no’ repeatedly. It was as if a clawed fist had reached into his chest cavity, squeezing his heart painfully. The nightmares were few and far between but when they came, they never failed to shake them to the core.

“Guang-ge. Lu Guang. My love, you’re alright. I’m right here.” He tucked the man against him, whispering assurances over and over, wanting nothing more than for Lu Guang to feel safe.

Lu Guang’s desperate attempts at getting away resulted in Cheng Xiaoshi getting punched a few times. He winced, knowing he’d have some bruises that he’d have to explain in the morning because Lu Guang never remembered he had a nightmare unless he saw the evidence on Cheng Xiaoshi’s body.

“Shh, it's alright. We’re back home. We’re in bed. Lu Guang, you’re alright. I’m here, alive. We’re together. Alive.” He whispered in Lu Guang’s ear, tucking his arms tightly in his embrace so no more punches were thrown. Lu Guang had a surprisingly mean left hook.

“Xiaoshi, please wake— please! I need— come with me—” He finally mumbled, kicking at Cheng Xiaoshi’s knee and making him grit his teeth as pain bloomed all over his leg. Nevertheless, Cheng Xiaoshi tucked his face against Lu Guang’s neck, breathing shallowly, trying to make him feel the proof of his life without words.

“I’m right here. I’m with you. But you aren’t with me. I feel alone, Lu Guang. Come back to me, please. Please?” He mumbled against his husband’s skin and Lu Guang finally settled, breathing faster than normal. To Cheng Xiaoshi, the brief moment of silence was painfully stretched into an eternity as he waited with bated breath to see if Lu Guang’s nightmare would go on or spare him.

He wanted to stop thinking about it. It was over. Lu Guang was sleeping peacefully again. The quiet of the night was proof enough that they were alright now.

We’re okay, both of us. We’re together and that’s more than worth the pain it took to get here.

He moved his hand from Lu Guang’s waist and slowly carded it through his messy hair. Lu Guang’s hair was just as bad as his own and the man had the audacity to call Cheng Xiaoshi’s hair a rat’s nest.

Pot. Meet kettle.

Cheng Xiaoshi bit his lip to stifle a burst of fond laughter. The more time Lu Guang spent calming down and falling back asleep, the better Cheng Xiaoshi felt. He sat up a little, careful not to wake Lu Guang up and kissed his hair.

Cheng Xiaoshi stayed where he was, body perfectly still as he was patting Lu Guang’s hair and tucking him in the blanket as silence fell around them once more. But it didn’t last.

“A-Shi?” His husband asked, voice hoarse with sleep and stifled screams and Cheng Xiaoshi leaned down to pepper kisses all over his face. “Mn, morning.”

“It’s—“ Cheng Xiaoshi finally turned towards their wall clock to check the time now that Lu Guang was feeling better. “—four in the morning. No morning Lu Guang, let's sleep in.”

Lu Guang let out an amused snort.

“You said four in the morning… It's morning.”

“Shut up, you’re so annoying. Even this early you're talking semantics,” Cheng Xiaoshi whined, pulling his arms away from the ridiculous man he’d married.

“Mn, love you, even if you lie about mornings being nights to get away with extra sleep.” Lu Guang pulled his retreating form back into his arms, holding on tight enough that no amount of flailing on Cheng Xiaoshi’s part would help.

“I married a bully.” Cheng Xiaoshi sighed, pretending to be upset about it. Lu Guang bit his collarbone for it. “Stop it! What are you? A fucking cat? Lu- Ah!” This time Lu Guang nipped his jaw, soothing the sting with a kiss.

What an asshole. Cheng Xiaoshi loved him so fucking much.

“Just for this, you’re on breakfast duty today and I’ll invite Xia Fei to eat with us too. And all of our friends so be prepared to cook for an army.” He groused. His stubborn husband hummed against his skin.

“That would mean you’ll have to wake up early enough to knock on all their doors to invite them. Because it's Sunday and they all sleep till like… three in the afternoon. Which means you’ll have to get up early on a weekend. And we’re almost out of groceries so I won't be able to make enough food so you’ll have to go to the store on a Sunday and get caught between the morning rush of—“ Cheng Xiaoshi shut him up with an affectionate headbutt and Lu Guang quickly stopped speaking, not wanting to feast on Cheng Xiaoshi’s hair.

“Stupid man. I hate it when you make sense. Why do you have to make sense? I can't even enact revenge without a fully fleshed-out plan. How's this fair? What about my villain arc?” Cheng Xiaoshi pretended to cry. A hand swiped under his eyes and he stopped mid-wail. Lu Guang knew he wasn’t crying, he knew Cheng Xiaoshi more than anyone. Yet he always made sure Cheng Xiaoshi wasn’t trying to disguise his real tears by pretending to cry.

Fuck! Stupid considerate man, why did he have to be so good to him?

Cheng Xiaoshi pulled his head away from Lu Guang’s face, moving lower to snuggle against his chest.

“I love you,” he mumbled grumpily against the steady thump of Lu Guang’s heart. Lu Guang shook with laughter before tucking his chin over Cheng Xiaoshi’s head.

“I love you too, you menace. Now sleep.” And Cheng Xiaoshi did.

(18)

Dumb Debates.

“Maybe I should change my name to Lu Xiaoshi.” Cheng Xiaoshi mumbled against his shoulder. He had gotten quite comfortable while playing a game on his phone and like the overly indulgent husband he was, Lu Guang didn’t mind the lack of space between them.

“You're watching too many American movies again.” Lu Guang shook his head, smiling softly at the idea.

“I can say I need to change my name because I am on someone’s hit list!” He snapped his finger and sat up excitedly as if that idea was even remotely feasible.

“Ridiculous,” Lu Guang critiqued, same as always.

“Or maybe you should be Cheng Guang. Shiguang Guang? Shiguang Xiaoshi?” The ideas kept getting dumber and dumber and Lu Guang kicked his shin lightly.

“If you just wanted to say GuangGuang you could've said it normally.” He deadpanned. Unfortunately, Cheng Xiaoshi wasn’t even close to done. Lu Guang pinched the bridge of his nose. He loved the man beyond reason but he still gave him idiocy-induced headaches.

“How about entirely changing our last names to—“ Lu Guang grabbed his arms and hauled him to lie down across his lap, leaning down to cut him off with a deep kiss. That was the only effective way of getting his husband out of his ridiculous ramblings. Not that Lu Guang minded administering this effective cure to Cheng Xiaoshi’s goofiness.

Cheng Xiaoshi froze, like a deer in headlights, phone falling to the carpet with a muted thunk and Lu Guang licked his lower lip before pulling away with a triumphant smile. Cheng Xiaoshi stared up at him, dazed and breathless. He helped the taller man sit up, placed his phone in his hands and got off the couch. Suddenly, he needed to be doing something else. The studio was open after all.

“I think ‘Laogong’ sounds the best. Or would you prefer ‘Zhangfu’?” Cheng Xiaoshi called out and Lu Guang tripped over his feet. His ridiculous husband laughed and Lu Guang vowed to seek revenge later.

On the inside though, his heart was turning into putty, the words Laogong and Zhangfu playing on a loop in his mind in Cheng Xiaoshi’s voice.

(19)

Birthday Shenanigans.

“Guang-ge, can you leave us in the studio for three hours?” Was how his day began. Lu Guang had just woken up and was feeling a little grumpy because Cheng Xiaoshi had gotten up hours ago and left him without their unspoken but predetermined morning cuddles.

“Huh?” He had no energy to come up with words at the moment. Not only had he woken up alone, he was being kicked out of his home for three whole hours, no kisses, no hugs, no nothing.

“It's for our semi-annual sibling bonding time,” Cheng Xiaoshi explained, expression apologetic and Lu Guang found himself softening at his words. Trust Cheng Xiaoshi to suck out all negativity from his life with just one look. Oh how Lu Guang adored his sweet husband. He was so lost in daydreams and staring at Cheng Xiaoshi’s lips he had forgotten they were moving to form words.

“—I know you call her Jie but she's mine!” Cheng Xiaoshi pouted, clinging to Qiao Ling’s smaller frame and getting swatted at like a fly. When did Qiao Ling enter the sun room again?

“As much as it pains me to agree with Cheng Xiaoshi of all people—“ Qiao Ling’s hand shot out to cover Cheng Xiaoshi’s mouth, cutting off his protests. “—he’s right. It’s a tradition. See you in three hours, GuangGuang!” Her tone left no room for argument so Lu Guang nodded. He collected some of his books and decided to visit master Siwen. Might as well learn something while he’s out and discuss books with Ouyang-jie.

The next three hours were spent in a daze, his mind wandering to what Cheng Xiaoshi must be doing before he would get pulled into a conversation with the Ouyangs. Ouyang Bubai seemed to have taken a liking to him for some reason and had read the books he had recommended when they last met. So, Lu Guang was able to spend his time arguing plot and worldbuilding intricacies with a man who decided that even speaking was some sort of warfare and that he wouldn't be backing down.

It was fun. But when the clock in the living room indicated that two hours were up, he found himself feeling relieved. As engaging as the Ouyangs were, his mind had been stuck thinking of Cheng Xiaoshi like usual. He wasn’t even surprised. Cheng Xiaoshi was on his mind twenty-four-seven. Even when they lay in bed, skin-to-skin, hands linked and heartbeats synced, he would still be thinking of his beloved husband.

It no longer fazed him.

“Thank you for having me over on such short notice.” He bowed to the Ouyang Patriarch and then to the others.

“Nonsense. Come over again in a month and we’ll talk about the ten books you recommended today,” Ouyang Bubai responded, voice gruff. The twinkle in his eyes told Lu Guang he would be in for a verbal beatdown worse than this time.

“I agree, you’re always welcome here.” Master Siwen smiled and Ouyang Bubai glared at him as if his agreement was a criminal offence. Lu Guang shook his head with a smile and started the long descent down the mountain.

It took him an hour and ten minutes to climb down, fifteen minutes to sit on a park bench to rest and then another fifteen to reach the studio. He hadn’t remembered what relief felt like until he opened the door and heard the familiar automated welcome message.

The first thing he noticed when he closed the door behind him was the delicious mixture of scents wafting through the kitchen. His mouth watered and he shuffled into the kitchen to see what was up.

The second thing he noticed was the collection of plated foods on the counter. Cake, cookies, sweet buns and a kettle of tea greeted him. He looked up and his eyes met Cheng Xiaoshi’s sheepish ones.

The third thing he noticed was how Qiao Ling was trying to be discreet as she scrubbed the stove, something sticky-looking falling from her bangs and onto the floor…

“Oh… you’re back early!” Cheng Xiaoshi yelped, trying to appear unruffled. His act would’ve been successful if there wasn’t flour smeared on his face.

“It’s been more than three hours,” Lu Guang pointed out, moving closer to his husband on instinct.

Cheng Xiaoshi’s presence was magnetic. Lu Guang couldn’t be blamed for always gravitating towards his sunshine of a partner.

He reached out slowly, cupping Cheng Xiaoshi’s cheek and wiping away the flour. Cheng Xiaoshi’s lips parted around a breath as Lu Guang’s hand slowly descended from his cheek, tracing the side of his neck, ribs, and waist before landing on his hand. Keeping eye contact, he pulled his sticky hand towards him and placed a reverent kiss on his knuckles. Cheng Xiaoshi’s face turned so red, it was hilarious.

Hilarious and utterly adorable.

He began babbling, one hand running through his unruly hair, the other clenching and unclenching in Lu Guang’s grip.

“Awww! But also, Ew! I am right here!” Qiao Ling yelled, breaking them out of the affectionate little bubble they cosied into. Cheng Xiaoshi huffed, pulling his hand out of Lu Guang’s before pulling him close for a quick kiss.

“Welcome back, heh.”

“I am back, A-Shi. Qiao Ling-jie, mind if I ask why Willy Wonka threw up all over our kitchen?” Qiao Ling snorted at that and Cheng Xiaoshi stifled a giggle behind his hand before wincing at its stickiness. He probably should get that washed now.

“We wanted to make your birthday special. It's your first one after getting married after all. So we decided we’d bake you a cake and some other sweets because Cheng Xiaoshi’s convinced you have a sweet tooth.”

“He does!” Cheng Xiaoshi yelled.

“Not so loud, dummy! I finally got the sound of the electric beater out of my head. Now you’re trying to render me deaf yourself?”

“He’s right.” Lu Guang smiled and Cheng Xiaoshi blinked, a sappy smile stretching across his lips. His eyes twinkled, waiting and Lu Guang sighed affectionately. “Of course you know, we’ve been partners and roommates for years, and married for almost a year. No one but you knows me better, love.”

Qiao Ling gagged and Cheng Xiaoshi quickly ran to take off his batter-splattered apron before sprinting towards him for a kiss.

Lu Guang smiled, opening his arms for his husband.

Later, Cheng Xiaoshi would admit he was stuffed because the first baking attempt was semi-successful and he and Qiao Ling ate everything so nothing was wasted. But he would allow Lu Guang to feed him a few bites of his well-baked cake.

They would exchange crumb-coated kisses and Qiao Ling would roll her eyes and flee to her home to avoid the PDA and Lu Guang’s already perfect birthday would come to an even more perfect end when he’d fall asleep holding a naked, trussed-up Cheng Xiaoshi.

And then the next day he’d wake up to his husband complaining about a stomachache from eating all the messed up sweets the night before and Lu Guang would nurse him back to health, huffing affectionately. During that time, he’d fall more in love with his stubborn husband because if it were not for him, it would be Lu Guang writhing around in pain.

And when Cheng Xiaoshi was better, he would swear off sweets forever but hit Lu Guang with his wide puppy-dog eyes and pout for a boba tea two days later. Lu Guang would sigh, reminding him of his words. Cheng Xiaoshi would pretend to get offended but then cover his face in kisses when he’d get him his requested over-priced sweetness.

Lu Guang smiled, running his hand along Cheng Xiaoshi’s sweaty back.

Life was good.

(20)

Possessiveness and Braids.

“L-Lu Guang! Ow!” He raised a hand to rub his scalp and felt Lu Guang glare at the back of his head.

“I told you to sit still, didn't I? You’ll be able to use a mirror when I’m done.” Lu Guang huffed, tugging at another piece of hair. Cheng Xiaoshi decided to listen to him and stop moving his head. That would help in not prolonging the torture he was going through.

“Where did you get this idea anyway?” He asked and Lu Guang’s fingers froze in his hair. Turning his head a little, he caught sight of a pretty blush adorning Lu Guang’s cheeks.

“Some families in Xianxia Manhua often use braids to symbolize marriage. If you don’t—” Lu Guang sounded unsure and Cheng Xiaoshi found himself melting into a puddle of obedience. It was very rare for Lu Guang to want to do things for himself, even rarer to ask Cheng Xiaoshi for anything. Something about guilt and past selfishness that Cheng Xiaoshi called bullshit.

“Well then, we should definitely do it! Don't want random people approaching a handsome man like me and thinking I’m single.” He raised a hand and fanned it near his face, implying how utterly irresistible people found him and Lu Guang huffed out a laugh. “But what about you? Your hair isn't long enough for even a single plait! How do I watermark my dashing Wuxia hero of a husband?” Cheng Xiaoshi lamented.

“Hm, you’ll figure it out, I am sure. You’re too smart for your own good, A-Shi.” The confidence in his voice made Cheng Xiaoshi want to swoon in his arms like a rescued maiden. He had gotten so used to his intelligence being underestimated that every time Qiao Ling, Lu Guang or Xia Fei didn't fall for his dumb act, he found himself surprised.

“We will figure it out. What do you mean you want me to burden my beautiful brain like that? Aren't we married? Partners for life? I remember you promising me forever a few years ago…” Cheng Xiaoshi pretended to think before snapping a finger. “Oh, I remember! You said it’s a lifetime contract when you moved into the studio!”

“I said it wasn't a lifetime contract,” Lu Guang corrected, pinning the end of the little braid into his hair and then finishing his hair off with the signature ponytail.

“But that was then, this is now. We’re married now, GuangGuang, no take-backsies.” He turned to look at Lu Guang, pointing a finger near his face to emphasize how serious he was.

“Oh no, I am trapped. Whatever shall I do now?” His husband deadpanned and Cheng Xiaoshi burst into giggles. “It’s not perfect, your hair isn't long enough for that but at least the evidence is there.”

“I have evidence on my ring finger and so do you, Guang-ge.” He reminded and Lu Guang’s lips twisted into that familiar little frown that was actually a pout.

Only Cheng Xiaoshi was aware of the fact that Lu Guang was a serial pouter.

“Our rings are not visible all the time,” Lu Guang mumbled, turning away from Cheng Xiaoshi.

That won't do.

“Gege,” Cheng Xiaoshi called, intentionally making his voice softer and Lu Guang automatically turned to look at him. Cheng Xiaoshi leaned closer, a finger coming up to caress his husband’s frown. “I will keep my hand raised up and work with one of them only so my ring is always visible. I will also grow out my hair so you have less trouble with the braids from now on.” He promised and Lu Guang’s eyes lit up with happiness.

“You don't have to do the first one. I don't want your arms to hurt.” Lu Guang smiled, leaning forward and wrapping his arms around Cheng Xiaoshi’s shoulders.

Cheng Xiaoshi wasted no time, standing up and pulling Lu Guang impossibly closer, hugging him happily.

“Hey Lu Guang? How about I run my hands through your hair every day? Maybe multiple times a day?”

“What would that do?”

“Sex hair… so everyone knows you’re enjoying marital bliss and then realize that, yes, you’re very much taken.” Cheng Xiaoshi replied, pulling back from their embrace to show how serious he was and Lu Guang’s lips twitched with suppressed laughter.

“Sounds fair.”

Notes:

Infinite thank you's to my betas, Archer and Sylvie! Please check out their stunning masterpieces. Both have amazing description game going on and without them, I wouldnt have brought out the best of the fluff and feels in this series!

Final author-ly thoughts about this series:

Being good at cooking doesnt necessarily translate to being good at baking :D

The reason I had some less-fluffy more angsty vignettes sprinkled throughout the series is because healing takes time and while lg and cxs are doing a lot better, they do sometimes hurt. Whats important is that they're there to support each other and come out of those speedbumps stronger. If you're having a hard time with anything, please reach out to your loved ones. They're here for you. For people who have been the light of your life in your darker times, please send them a message expressing your appreciation.

I am so happy so many of you stuck around for this series. Thank you so much! I adored every kudos, comment and interaction I got about this series. Thank you, all of you. I am glad I met so many of you through this series. I have so many amazing new friends and it makes me love this series even more!

As Yingdu has ended, the purpose of this series has been achieved, for me and for everyone else too so have an extra long instalment to end your Yingdu experience. While I do have hopes to add more to this series later, I am not sure when I'll get around to writing them. So if you want, please stay subscribed to the series for the odd update! This series was how I coped and now that the pain-train is over and we have so much more Guangshi content from canon, I am ready to move on to other fics. I hope you all will too.

I struggled with NOT incorporating Xia Fei. I wanted to so bad but I wanted to make the series post-canon and we didnt know if he'd live so I didnt. Now that I know he's alive at least for now, he makes his background appearance. There was a vignette I had to remove from the posting list because he played a major role in it as I didnt know what his fate would be. I'll post it for Valentine's Day. It'll be short but I loved writing it so you'll get that too hehe.

Next, I want to write mpreg cxs so if you like that, be on the lookout! More Veinshi and Feishi fics are also cooking in my mind!
