Moments Alone Together (for three mintues at best)

Summary:

“Um, I might stay here? Just need a breath of air for a moment…” Fig mumbled, trailing off. Even for her being a tiefling being used to heat she felt an overwhelming warmth across her body.

“Can we? Keep this between us?” Adaine asked. Her voice was soft and almost pleading, “It’s not that I’m like…embarrassed or anything it’s just that,” she sighed, “Everyone will be unbearable about ‘getting out kisses in’ from each other,”

“And I just want this for ourselves,” Adaine mumbled softly. She liked Fig more than anything in this moment, liked her more than she could comprehend or put into words. Adaine wanted Fig alone to herself without the nagging of their friends just for a moment longer.

Chapter 1: Aftermath

Chapter Text

‘Adaine? This is Riz, speaking by Ayda’s sending are you plus Fig ok? I’m drunk but still worried for you guys if you need something.

Adaine heard another sending through her mind all while Fig’s hand was on the back of her head. Adaine once again had to break the kiss while Fig groaned. Another trail of saliva between their tongues while Adaine mentally responded and Fig panted for more air.

‘We’re fine no need to look just getting some air together’ Adaine sent off the sending spell burning another spell slot. Trying to regain her thoughts that were hazy from the kissing.

‘Alright, from Riz. This is Ayda I believe what Kristen and Tracker gave me was liquor but contact me by Sending if you need me,’

‘Yes I’ll be sure to do so,’

“We should get going,” Adaine mumbled. She was less than a few inches away from Fig’s lips once more. The rational option in her head was to break off this “make-out session” and return to the party. Where they wouldn’t have to be constantly nagged by their friends worrying. The other option was to keep pinning Fig against the tree and ignore their friends, the better option yet irrational option.

Adaine could feel her heart racing and her face burn to the point of her ears, “Before they start looking for us and everything,”

“Yeah, yeah that’s…a good idea,” Fig mumbled softly. Her face burned a brighter shade than her normal pink while Adaine stepped away from her.

Adaine worked on fixing her disheveled appearance from Fig’s wandering hands while the other girl worked on calming herself down. Fig looked up to Adaine and could see that her lipstick was stained on Adaine’s lips. While Adaine looked and could see Fig's lipstick was more than smudged from their kissing.

Fig felt her heart almost jumping out of her chest from Adaine’s last words. She nodded quickly ignoring how she was screaming inside, “I’m fine keeping this between us just for a little while longer,”

Adaine smiled softly, still feeling her face flush red she quickly opened her spellbook before looking back up to Fig, “Uh, goodnight? I’ll see you back at the house Fig,”

“Yeah, I’ll see you back there…Goodnight,” Fig mumbled softly. Before she could get another word in, a bright blue portal appeared right behind Adaine and the elf quickly ran into the portal, and with a bright flash, the door disappeared as soon as it came.

Adaine had to cast the Dimension Door spell a few times to make it back to the house. The Hangvan and Hangman parked off somewhere as the party somehow made its way outside. Adaine looked out to see everyone minus the two adults yelling at the top of their lungs with some song playing. She prayed no one would notice her disheveled appearance while she smoothed down her jacket.

“Adaine your back! You’ve gotta catch up!” Kristen yelled, already grabbing two beer bottles from a box of them and threw them towards her. Unfortunately, Gorgug was nearby holding his axe (really they shouldn’t have their weapons drunk) and smashed one of the bottles in the air.

“You missed out! Also inside there’s the shrimp tub and the Gilear tub!” Fabian shouted, on Ragh’s shoulders with a handful of shrimp in his hands, a beer bottle in the other.

Adaine clumsily grabbed the bottle in her hands when she saw Ayda come up to her left side, stumbling a bit. Her fiery hair was brighter and her wings were tucked into herself almost like a hug even. Adaine switched the bottle to just one hand while her other reached out to Ayda’s shoulder, “Ayda? You alright?”

“Y-Yes, exceptionally great,” Ayda slurred her words, opening her wings she wrapped one around Adaine, “I was admittedly worried with Riz…where’s Fig? Did she not arrive with you?”

Adaine felt her face get hot again, clearing her throat, “Fig just…needed some air and wanted to spend a bit longer away from the party,” she gave a sheepish smile to her new friend.

Even with her alcohol level Ayda tilted her head, “Your face is more red and your ears are twitching, it started when I mentioned Fig,”

“What?” Adaine’s voice was an octave higher while she gripped Ayda’s shoulder and the beer bottle in hand much tighter. Luckily no one noticed her strange behavior stuck in their nonsense conversations and partying.

“Did something happen?” Ayda questioned.

Goddammit, and she just said she wanted to keep this between Fig and her only. She only felt her face burn more and knew she was almost one hundred percent caught red handed by Ayda.

“N-Nothing, just some normal conversations between friends, that's all just me and Fig…g-great friends,” Adaine lied straight through her teeth.

“I believe you’re lying to me Adaine,”

“Goddammit okay yes!” Adaine whispered, “Fig and I we…kissed that's it!” Adaine excluded the more intimate details like Fig’s hands running through her hair, or how she pinned said girl against a tree for god who knows how long with their-Adaine forced her thoughts to stop thinking about the moment.

Adaine let the bottle drop onto the ground while her hands shot up to Ayda’s mouth covering it, “Don’t you dare tell anyone about this…please,” Ayda quickly nodded her head while her wings flapped open and almost enveloped Adaine in a hug.

“Don’t what?!” Kristen yelled, only hearing part of their conversation.

“Adaine you still haven't drinken anything! Come on join the party,” Ragh shouted, smiling widely.

“I think I’ll pass…Is Tracker drunk? Cause we still need her to cast the Moon Haven or Hollow for mattress night,”

“Oh,” Kristen mumbled.

“Mhm, you and I’ll get Tracker I think the others should start getting the mattresses,”

No one noticed Fig sneaking back in and heading straight up stairs in the house, more importantly the direction of the hot tubs.

The conversation with Mira and Nuathera while tense ended on good terms, even after they were done talking now they were sort of welcomed in Arboly when they would need to head there. Nuathera, the fox was almost smiling when they finally finished talking although Mira was still not very fond of them, they had gained their favor in the end.

Nuatheria turned to Fig especially, “Thank you for your forthrightness”

Fig almost beamed and smiled back, “Oh, your welcome,”

Fig was the main speaker for the entire group so quite literally everyone hummed and agreed with Nuathera with Riz mumbling, “Good job,”

Turning back around Fig gave a small thumbs up, “Thanks guys, I’m trying it out,”

“Something’s different about you,” Kristen flatly said.

“I don’t know what you’re implying Kristen nothing’s different I’m the same as I’ve ever been,” Fig said almost too quickly.

She visibly tensed a bit and Adaine knew exactly what Kristen noticed in her new behavior, maybe being the main reason for it. She was just thankful Ayda left early in the morning to head back to Leviathan though she didn’t know if the phoenix remembered anything she said last night.

Adaine just stared down intently at her orb with her face turning red slowly one more. Again she wanted this small moment or time with Fig without anyone knowing. Now Kristen apparently noticed with the others probably not far behind from figuring it out.

“Something is different about you,” Tracker remarked, looking at Fig intently who was looking for anything to get out of the conversation.

“Did you…get your kisses in?” Riz mumbled.

“What?! How would I even do that?! It's not like-” Fig shut herself up at the gaze of everyone minus Adaine. The elf busied herself with looking at everything but her friends and Fig especially.

Fig panicked until she entered a staring contest with Riz. She kept his gaze while Riz tried to notice anything else besides Fig’s behavior. Adaine was just thankful no one was noticing her since she was sure her flushed face and standoffish behavior would’ve given herself up.

“What do you see Riz?” Fig questioned.

Riz stayed quiet until he sighed, “Looks like you just…had some good crab?”

“Oh Fig had the good crab!” Ragh exclaimed.

“We left the good crab inside when we were all outside!” Fabian remarked.

It was barely noticeable but Fig sighed softly before straightening herself back up. Everyone was planning to split up into groups. Adaine looked around and caught Fig’s gaze who was already looking at her before she did.

Adaine smiled softly and Fig immediately turned a little pinker, looked away but Adaine noticed the way her tail almost twitched.

Chapter 2: Everyone knows

Summary:

“-aine?”

Riz’s last words were the only ones that reached her ears. She snapped out of her train of thought and turned back to Riz, “Yes? Sorry I was just thinking about something,” (more of someone really)

“I just asked if you and Fig got back last night alright, I didn’t catch you guys I was…busy. I don’t know if you can count being drunk and eating shrimp busy though,” Riz chuckled softly, yet Adaine was caught in a bit of fear.

“Y-Yeah we did or I got back first and then Fig came back later she said she wanted uh, some air away from the party,” Adaine said, at least her words weren’t a total lie to what really happened. Just excluding some details.

I'm back, and now I'm gone

Chapter Text

After the Scrying on Aelwyn or more like attempting to and Kalina making her appearance through Kristen. Everyone split into three groups going to different places. Tinker’s Hall, The Shrine of Thorns and the tavern Arianwen and Aelwyn stayed in The Owl and The Harp. Adaine and Riz headed their way to the tavern. Fig, Kristen and Tracker to the shrine with the rest of the boys heading to the hall.

Adaine barely had the chance to even glance at Fig before she headed on Baxter to the shrine. So what if she felt a little down by that? No one had to know that but Boggy who was giving her a bit of a worried glance knowing something was off with her. She headed her way to The Owl and The Harp with Riz by her side.

Walking through the town, most places being carved into trees or being inside of the trees themselves in Arboly. Adaine swore she saw the Hangman waiting outside by one of the doors leading inside of one of the trees, best guess was that it was the Tinker’s Hall the boys went to.

Undoubtedly, her thoughts went back to Fig. Adaine’s mind raced over memories of last night, their shared confessions, the intensity of their kiss, the way Fig kept on pulling her back for more. She still felt her face get a little bit warmer and her heart pace a bit faster just at the thought of her. Cursing her pale skin, she knew the red growing on her face stood out with no doubt Riz would notice it.

“Really? Why were you two out there? Or was it just the party cause I wouldn’t blame you for that,” Riz asked, this time he looked closely at Adaine who was just staring ahead.

“Well Fig said she needed some air then it took some time. I got worried and you know I find her checking out the briar walls and we just kinda stay there for a while,” Adaine answered, an obvious strain in her voice, “Lost track of time trying to study the wall and then Ayda started with her Sendings, Fig wanted to stay a little bit so I went back and she probably came back not shortly after me,”

“Really?” Riz did not sound convinced in the slightest. As a matter of a fact Adaine could already see the gears turning in his head like he was solving another case.

“Yeah,” Adaine mumbled, she saw The Owl and The Harp close ahead and purposefully quickening her pace. Riz easily caught up with her on the other hand.

“Did you brush your hair before we left?”

“Excuse me?” Adaine slowed down and nearly stopped in her tracks.

“Your hair looks softer, like you brushed it but when we all woke up no one had time to do anything like, clean up. It looks like you brushed your hair,” Riz commented. Pointing to her.

Adaine reached up to the blonde hair that grew right above her shoulders. True to his word her hair was softer than usual like she had just brushed it or like someone-

Goddammit.

Adaine painstakingly (not really, her heart beats faster) remembers Fig’s fingers running through her hair during their kiss. She stopped in her tracks and immediately noticed Riz’s look of success, the small smile turning into a smirk and the way his tail almost swung. The same behavior he had whenever he solved something.

“Um, I brushed it a-after I woke up?” Adaine stammered, trying to dig herself out of this scenario.

“What happened last night, hm? I won’t tell anyone, I just want to know,” Riz smiled.

“...You already know,” Adaine mumbled, defeated already, she gave up on trying to lie. Riz saw through everything and everyone.

“Mhm do I?”

“Riz I swear to god,”

“I dunno Adaine. Maybe you just had some good crab like Fig did last night?” Riz teased.

Adaine stopped dead in her tracks and turned to Riz, “Okay! Okay yes we kissed! It was nice she was amazing, a-and I swear to god Riz if you even tell a single soul about what I just said, I-I’ll curse your entire bloodline or something like that!”

Riz raised his hands in the air while Boggy tried to give a reassuring ribbit as he sat on her shoulder. He gave a sheepish smile before letting down his hands, Adaine shakily sighed and kept on walking towards the tavern with Riz close behind.

“...”

“...”

“...So,” Riz mumbled.

“Dont,” Adaine muttered.

“I won’t tease you guys for getting your kisses in or anything like Fabian or Kristen would I promise,” Riz smiled, “Just a congratulations or something like that,”

“Thank you Riz, I just kind of…wanted this to ourselves but now you and Ayda know about it and when the others will find out I just know they’ll be insufferable for days on end about it,”

“They can be like that, but just in case? Good luck whenever Sandra Lynn finds out,”

“Ah fuck,” Adaine groaned with panic slowly rising, “Oh my god I forgot about her…Then there’s fucking Gorthalax a whole ass archdevil Riz! How am I supposed to-I’m fucked Riz I can’t do this! What if they don’t like me?!” Adaine’s hands waved through the air in exasperation.

“You're good! Sandra Lynn already loves you and Gorthalax can be pretty chill a-and probably will be pretty cool about you and Fig dating don’t worry! Adaine you’ve got this!” Riz tried to comfort Adaine as Boggy nuzzled her cheek and ribbits softly.

“Also, I say we’re dating but we’ve had one kiss and I haven’t gotten the chance to talk to her about the whole thing,”

“You guys were gone for a little while I don’t think it was just one-”

“Don’t finish that sentence,”

Adaine felt her heart slow down from the comforting words Riz said combined with Boggy’s comforting touches and sounds, “Thank you Riz…now can we please? Find out whatever my mom was hiding in the room she rented in the tavern?”

“Oh crap yeah that,”

“Fig’s stuck in Hell,” Adaine groaned. The talk with Ayda about the runes they found was coming to an end when Ayda finally questioned about the others' status back in Arboly.

“But to access Hell they would need Plane Shift? How did this happen?” Ayda questioned, worry seeping into her voice.

“Fig got served? With Gorthalax in the gem his domain was left basically abandoned and they called on Fig to solve it but when the Hangman went in the portal it blocked everyone else which left Fig, Riz, Gilear and the Hangman,” Adaine mumbled. In all honesty the only one she was truly worried about was Fig. Not that she underestimated the girl, no, by all means she was strong, powerful, and much more. It was the idea of Fig getting hurt while she’s just sitting on the sidelines that made her feel uneasy.

God, she sounded love sick, is this what dating feels like?

Riz and the Hangman could hold off their own and Gilear…They could worry about him later.

“You seem more stressed than usual Adaine?”

“It’s just that,” she sighed, “Fig’s in Hell and now I can’t help her and I know she’s very strong and she can handle things herself but I’m just worried and I just want to get back to her…Also, we kind of never talked about…”

“Kiss?” Ayda tilted her head.

“I prayed you wouldn’t remember what I said,” Adaine mumbled, “But yes we never really talked about, what we really are?”

“As in, if you are girlfriends? Or wives?” Ayda asked.

“What?! No! I mean maybe to the girlfriends but wives are more formal and that takes time…a-and we’re too young for that,” Adaine’s voice raised an octave higher, “Plus, she left for everything and when we were together everyone else was as well so I never really asked her,”

“Did the kiss not solidify the relationship between you both?”

“I mean it should have? But we haven’t even spoken a word to each other and Sending is only twenty five words. And Sending Fig ‘oh hey what are we?’ while she’s dealing with legal troubles in Hell doesn’t sound the best now,” Adaine sighed.

They stayed in a small silence before Ayda spoke up again, “There should be enough information that can be found in the Compass Point Library that I could look into Plane Shift,”

Adaine perked up, “Really?” she felt a sense of hope and the uneasiness calming a bit.

“Yes, it will obviously take time but if we collaborate on the spell together we can learn Plane Shift and get back the others”

Adaine gasped softly and felt a wave of excitement break through her. Holding back a smile, “Ayda, I can’t thank you enough for helping us. We’re gonna get Fig back, I’m gonna get Fig back, talk about whatever our relationship is with her and possibly get my kisses in again…I can’t believe I just said that,”

Adaine was barely focusing on her own spellbook and its contents. Page after page her mind couldn’t stop worrying for the same girl who had stolen her heart. Boggy tried to relive her unstable emotions by his usual ribbits and croaks but it could only help a bit, nothing could calm the feeling of uneasiness that roiled deep down in her.

It had been a rollercoaster of things since the portal to Hell was closed. The runes they found on the briar walls, her conversation with Ayda about the runes with the phoenix worrying for Fig as well. Kristen was investigating an antidote against Kalina’s disease, Gorgug working on the cell tower for his crystal and Fabian being their main communication to Hell by the Hangman.

They were all gathered around in the Hallow spell sharing information, plans, ideas and overall what their next steps were when a familiar voice sounded in Adaine’s mind.

‘Hello Adaine, the Find Familiar spell is wonderful. May I teleport to Arboly, more importantly your location?’

Adaine tuned out the other’s conversation, mumbling under her breath to respond.

‘Yes! More than welcome to come and can’t wait to see your familiar, your friend, Adaine’

Before she could warn the others about Ayda, in a bright flash of light inside the Hallow, Ayda Augefort appeared in front of them. While something behind her wing moved, a tropical fish floating in a sphere of water popped out, moving around in the space happily.

“I love it!” Adaine exclaimed, grabbing Boggy she put the frog into the sphere of water. The two familiars playing happily in the water together.

“Thank you for recommending the spell Adaine, as I could not come up with something as clever or as formal as Bogarial Frogarial, I wanted to name in honor of the people important in my life,” Ayda watched as Boggy and the fish played, “The name of my familiar is Garthy Adaine the fish,”

“Garthy Adaine the fish?” Fabian questioned but happily watched the two familiars playing as well.

“A lot of syllables,” Kristen mumbled.

“You could name it Gaf?” Adaine smiled

Ayda perked up, looking at Gaf for a few moments, “Gaf, Gaf…like Kristen said fewer syllables. Rolls of the tongue more easily. Yes, absolutely. A vast improvement,”

“Adaine said something about a spell to get to Hell?” Gorgug asked.

“Yes! Yes Plane shift, and as Adaine already said we need to get to Fig now,” Ayda beamed.

“Now? I mean, she’s pretty safe I think?” Fabian remarked. Adaine felt her heart sank to her stomach but she was too slow to stop Ayda from speaking.

“Yes, Adaine said it was of the utmost importance so she could quote on quote, ‘talk about whatever our relationship is with her and possibly get my kisses in again,’ end quote, and to possibly-”

Adaine stared holes into her orb with Boggy giving her a stare.

“What?! Adaine?!” Kristen whipped her head to the elf.

“Excuse me?” Fabian looked shocked and amazed while looking back and forth between Ayda and Adaine, “Hello what?”

“Wait, go back?!”

“Did Adaine not tell you? She and Fig have the possibility of being girlfriends from their shared kiss from last night,” Ayda remarked while Adaine felt her face burn, hoping and praying the ground would sink underneath her and swallow her whole.

“Oh my god! Oh my god Adaine!” Kristen smiled, punching Adaine’s shoulder, “Congratulations! You guys got your kisses in!”

“Wait, you kissed Fig? Fig, same girl who-wait did she trick you? Did she turn into Hilda Hilda? Or a doctor, policeman?” Fabian still looked shocked but an obvious grin came to his face.

“Wait, is that why you guys were gone from the party?” Gorgug asked, smiling as well. Kristen gasped as her smile turned into a grin.

“Wait no, you guys missed…You came back during the crab tower. How long were you guys gone for? How long did you kiss?” Fabian questioned.

“I-It wasn’t even, we just-like I don’t know over an hour? B-But it wasn’t all ki-” Adaine stammered out, her redness reaching to the tips of her ears.

“You kissed for an hour?! Over an hour?!”

“Excuse me?”

“Okay shut up! I don’t make fun of you guys for kissing! Like you Kristen, or Fabian or Gorgug. So just let this go and we can move on?! The kiss was nice, over an hour, no Fabian, Fig kissed me as herself not Hilda Hilda or any other city ordinance of any kind,”

“Oh my god,” Tracker spoke up, “She came back when we were finishing crab tower and when we started setting up for mattress night and went, straight back upstairs where the hot tubs were,”

Adaine felt her face burn even more and internally screamed.

“Oh my god! Adaine you dirty dog you sure all you guys did was kiss? Cause it seems li-”

“Don’t you dare finish that sentence Kristen or I’ll punch you,” Adaine groaned, her ears twitching while she avoided any eye contact.

“All that matters, Ayda, you gave us the most important piece of information ever,” Fabian grinned and patted Ayda on the shoulder.

“Welcome to the family Adaine,”

“What family?...”

“When you’re here you're family. It’s called being gay,” Kristen pulled Adaine into a tight hug with Tracker joining in. Adaine couldn’t even process Kristen’s words before a much tighter grip held them, Ragh hugged all three girls and lifted them into the air.

“Yes man! Oh god this slaps! Yes, especially you Adaine!” Ragh exclaimed, hugging them tighter before letting them down onto the ground.

“So like, are you and Fig gonna be different now? You know, getting your kisses in, sneaking off like you guys did last night?...” Fabian asked.

“No, no none of that just…stop, everything about me and Fig, the kiss everything comes to a stop. We can worry about that later! When we get Fig, Gilear, Riz, and the Hangman back from Hell,” Adaine insisted, she sounded desperate at this point she couldn’t handle the way her face was burning hot combined with her friends teasing.

“You sure you don’t just want to get to Hell so you and Fig can get your kisses in?” Gorgug teased.

“Gorgug stop, you're supposed to be better than them,” Adaine groaned.

“Okay, okay,” Fabian smiled, “We’ll back off, guys we have to back off just for now,”

“Thank you,” Adaine mumbled.

“So the problem is we can’t get into Hell…” Kristen mumbled.

Notes:

Next chapter this week and maybe I'll do another fic about Adaine and Fig in the nightmare kings forest when they go through their worst fears and it's about each other along with their fears, like Fig fearing she's not good enough for Adaine as an example.

Maybe

Im a sucker for angst and I'll throw an Aberfaeth angst brick at you guys at 100 mph if I feel like writing that

Chapter Text

Adaine slowly walked down the stairs of the tower using her darkvision carefully taking each step not to trip. Boggy was resting in his terrarium with Aelwyn already getting her long overdue rest in a proper bed after all her time in the orb and in the forest with their parents. One hand trailed on the stone of the walls walking down the spiral stairs.

Last time she checked her crystal it was around maybe eleven thirty pm. It was still the day they finally arrived back at Mordred Manor from their spring break project, many exhausted crying and hugging all around. After maybe an hour or so of arriving everyone started to depart to their own homes or rooms, Lydia, who was now staying with them cooked for everyone while Adaine helped Aelwyn get adjusted.

Really, she should be trancing with Aelwyn but after everything Adaine just wanted a moment alone.

More so a moment alone with Fig but the details could be worried about later.

Even after rescuing her from Hell the forest was twice as dangerous and not really the moment to ask ‘what are we’ when facing Kalina, her mother, The Nightmare King now Cassandra, Kristen’s new goddess. Hells, not even after getting back home could they have a moment due to, well everyone. She just hoped deep down that the news of their new relationship hasn’t spread too much though practically everyone knew.

Adaine shivered at the ‘talk’ with Jawbone or when Aelwyn will find out but Adaine was sure she already has. She was eyeing her when Adaine kept on staring at Fig but never said anything about it.

Adaine reached the bottom of the spiral stairs, turning a few corners until she arrived in the living room. The grand piano still as she remembered it, Adaine felt her heart spike both out of excitement and a bit out of fear. What was she even supposed to say to Fig? Or what if Fig changed her mind about their relationship and her feelings? Paranoia slipped into her mind with countless scenarios created in her mind.

Maybe they didn’t even need to talk, Adaine frankly just wanted another moment with Fig without the constant teasing from their dear friends. Adaine flushed red when she remembered their kiss back at Arboly, she pushed away the memory walking towards the grand piano.

Before she could reach the instrument, the mechanical clicking and turning of gears sounded out from the piano. Flipping upside down to reveal Fig who hurriedly ran away off of the platform right before the piano flipped back upright with a few more clicks.

Fig was wearing one of her own band shirts “Fig and Cig Figs’ a bit oversize reaching her thighs with a pair of shorts. Adaine froze when Fig saw her. Her heart started to not race out of fear but a bit out of her own infatuation. Maybe she could call it love, but that could wait later.

Fig looked both surprised and a bit happy. A small smile came to her face when she tried to speak up.

“Ada-”

“Can we talk?” Adaine's voice cracked a bit, more out of nervousness.

“Yes?” Fig mumbled. She looked at Adaine more worried than happier now.

“Maybe not here?” Adaine requested, glancing at the piano or also the entrance to Fig’s room. She’d rather not talk in the living room where their very much needed conversation could be heard by anyone.

Fig nodded before swiftly reaching over to Adaine and grabbing her wrist. Adaine let out a small yelp with Fig using her other hand to play the simple keys on the piano, still gripping her wrist tightly the gears clicked and turned. Adaine braced herself as she felt herself flip upside down.

Instead of the hard floor and a painful landing, they both landed on a soft cushion. Adaine did feel a bit of pain from the awkward angle of falling upside down but swiftly recovered with Fig as well. Sitting on her knees on the soft blankets Adaine faced Fig right in front of her, with her darkvision not really taking in color she couldn’t see Fig subtly turn a bit redder.

They were only a few inches away from each other. Their talk could wait just a little longer.

Fig reached out first. Her hands cupping Adaine’s face and pulling her close with Adaine’s hands grabbing Fig’s hips. Their lips crashed against each other hastily, there hadn’t been a moment of privacy for anything together in the turmoil of their spring break. The slightest bit of desperation and an overwhelming amount of deep affection was poured into the kiss.

Adaine felt the familiar tail wrap around her wrist, her heart pounding like a drum in her chest with her face turning a bright red. Fig’s hands moved from cupping her face to running through her blonde hair again. She paid more attention to the kiss this time around, Fig’s lips were soft, almost like silk against her own. How Fig’s hands were calloused but just enough to still be soft against her.

Adaine pushed further into the kiss, tilting her head for a better angel. However a small amount of unbalance caused Fig to fall backwards with Adaine, a small grunt from Fig with the kiss breaking as they both needed air.

The elf looked down, Fig even with her darkvision not taking in color that well. Looked absolutely beautiful, her pupils were blown from the adrenaline with her face a deeper shade then usual, she was essentially panting for breath.

“This was our talk?” Fig breathed out, her usual grin with her sharp teeth from the infernal heritage showing, “Or was this the plan after all?”

“In a bit,” Adaine mumbled. She still felt the after effects of the kiss but the lingering question remained in the back of her mind however Adaine pushed the idea away again.

“Can we move to the bed rather than being on the floor?” Fig mutters and Adaine responds by quickly getting off of Fig and pulling her up.

Adaine grabbed her wrist and dragged Fig to her bed. It’s a tangle of kisses and heavy breathing already when they crash onto the bed, Fig takes the initiative again pushing Adaine down by the shoulders with a smile. One of Adaine’s hands reached to the back of her neck to keep her closer with the other on Fig’s waist, her hand gripping onto the shirt.

Fig breaks away from Adaine, her lips moving down from Adaine’s own lips to trace her jawline, then further down. Her horns narrowly avoided cutting Adaine. The elf feels her heart race faster than ever, her hands are fixed on Fig’s body while a rush of both pleasure and love run through Adaine.

Her mouth landed on Adaine’s neck, Adaine gasped for air when Fig’s teeth clamped down onto pale flesh. Adaine was one hundred percent sure it would bruise in the next few hours or in the morning. She wanted to curse out Fig for leaving it but at the sametime couldn't hate the tiefling.

Adaine’s mind rushed to form words before things started to get out of hand, “I-I did, want to talk to you,” her voice is softer and her gaze is fixated on Fig.

Fig breaks away from Adaine’s neck, her chest heaving for air (not that Adaine was looking there or tried not to) and answered, “Really?”

“Yes?” Adaine sounded unsure of herself, “I-I mean, we don't, have to right now…”

“I mean, do you want to?” Fig asked, her breathing calming down but Adaine still felt the overwhelming adrenaline flowing through her.

“Yes, I mean, it’s about us?” Adaine mumbled.

“...”

“I mean we never got to talk about it since you were in Hell and the whole thing about The Nightmare King now Cassandra. Then everyone was happy to see each other and I wanted to help Aelwyn settle in so I never really…gotta ask you if we’re…girlfriends?”

“...”

“Fig?”

“Adaine we’ve viciously made out together twice now and you still think we aren’t girlfriends?” Fig almost laughed with a small grin starting to form.

“Don’t,”

“Adaine-”

“It was stupid, I just wanted a confirmation that was all,”

Fig held in laughter while Adaine looked away for her own dignity.

She felt a small kiss planted on her cheek from the tiefling with Fig’s arms wrapped around her while she buried her head into Adaine’s shoulder. Adaine didn’t hesitate to hug Fig back while fighting back a smile.

“We are, girlfriends that is,” Fig mumbled softly.

Adaine mentally cheered and smiled widely as Fig couldn’t see it, “Good…just checking,”

“Do you want to? I dunno, stay for the night?” Fig’s tail wrapped around her ankle, almost possessively.

“I’d like that,” Adaine whispered. Adjusting herself with Fig they both laid on the bed, Fig planted another kiss on Adaine’s cheek.

“Goodnight Adaine,”

“Goodnight Fig,”

-

Adaine woke up with the sound of her sister’s voice ringing in her head.

‘Woke up, where are you? Looked everywhere also I can’t find the fucking bathroom in this fucking creepy manor, my legs are still weak,’

The Sending spell was a blessing and a curse. Adaine blearily opened her eyes to the ceiling of Fig’s room. It was hotter than usual until she realized someone was on top of her. Fig had her legs tangled between Adaine’s with her head buried into her shoulder still. Her breathing was steady which meant she was still sleeping.

Adaine felt her heart pang just at the prospect of leaving but knew she had to. Adaine smiled softly at the sight of her girlfriend (god she already loved using that name with Fig) before slowly untangling from her.

She successfully unravels Fig’s legs and her arms around Fig sitting at the edge of the bed. Adaine stood up to leave but was stopped at a hand grabbing her wrist. She looked back to Fig, her eyes barely opened and her grasp was weak.

“Morning,” Adaine whispered.

“Where are you going?” Fig mumbled, her voice tired as she didn’t trance unlike Adaine and needed longer rest.

“I need to go, but I promise I’ll try to be back,”

Fig groaned softly before letting Adaine’s wrist go. Adaine leaned down and pressed a soft kiss on Fig’s forehead which left her content for now. Turning back onto her side and closing her eyes already with a smile on her face.
