Adaine stared down puzzlingly at her own body, craning her head around Aelwyn’s sobbing form to see herself laying on the cold stone floor with a hole through the centre of her chest. It was strange. She didn’t feel any pain, but she was… aware of the concept of the pain she should be feeling.
“Hello, Oracle,” Adaine whipped around to face the source of the multilayered voice that called out from behind her, drowning out the muffled sounds of battle. “Congradulations, on your first death.”
A group of glowing translucent figures hovered before her, eyes glowing and hair floating as if underwater. Adaine recognized the speaker as the previous Elven Oracle.“May you find your way to many more,” another of the elven figures, this one hovering in a relaxed position called out in a somewhat beaten tone.
“I’m… dead?” was all Adaine could muster as she fought through the confusion clouding her mind.
“Yes,” the third figure responded, “but not for long.”

“Can we? Keep this between us?” Adaine asked. Her voice was soft and almost pleading, “It’s not that I’m like…embarrassed or anything it’s just that,” she sighed, “Everyone will be unbearable about ‘getting out kisses in’ from each other,”
“And I just want this for ourselves,” Adaine mumbled softly. She liked Fig more than anything in this moment, liked her more than she could comprehend or put into words. Adaine wanted Fig alone to herself without the nagging of their friends just for a moment longer.

The mission was simple enough - there was no reason it shouldn't be.
It starts like this; sign up on the contract, escort the mage to the depths of a fucked up territory that is near lawless due to it's unstable magic that is worshiped by the thousands and condemned by the millions, extract the shipment, escort the mage back safely, take the money and leave.
She figured the mage was desperate enough to reach out to her in the depths of the city of Leviathan and pay as much as she was offering if she hadn't tried other people before.
"So… where's the shipment we're supposed to pick up,"
"Well…" the mage said, "more like… steal."
Fig smiled wide, teeth overtaking the expression as her interest was now piqued. "Now I'm listening,"

Adaine sighed, doing her best to glare into the eyes of the small mouse she had on her hand, currently attempting to nibble on her fingers.
“You can be a bit of an idiot sometimes you know?”
The mouse ignored her stern rebuke and jumped from her hand down onto her knee and then onto the floor to a small pile of cheese.
“For future reference, if there is an obviously cursed object, then you should probably not pick it up without checking.”
The mouse was stuffing its face with cheese. Adaine rolled her eyes.
