Morro is home alone. Well…he wishes he was….

I wasn’t expecting to have your payment so soon lol!

This totally came out of nowhere. I wrote this on my phone in the span of maybe an hour and it’s not nearly as long as I’d like, but I’m gonna roll with it either way.

Work Text:

     I hate babysitting.

 

     Instead of working on the training course or practicing with my powers, I’m stuck watching the two little brats while my aunt and uncle are out shopping.  I wish I could have gone with my father to visit some of the Elemental Masters instead, but he had told me to stay and help with the twins.

 

     I wrinkle my nose as Father’s words echo in my head.  “Protecting others is key to being a ninja, Morro.  And taking responsibility is key to being a family.”

 

     Yeah, right.  Watching the twins is less exciting than cleaning up dragon poop.  Not to mention less quiet.  Even when they’re not screaming their lungs out, they keep making odd little noises and thumping their feet on the floor.

 

     At least I have some of Father’s scrolls to read, so I’m not completely bored out of my mind.  I’m in the middle of reading about something called the “Coalescence” when my peace is disturbed by a baby’s cry.

 

     I peek over the scroll and scowl at Lloyd’s whining form lying on the floor.  Knowing Aurnia will start if I don’t calm him down, I furl the scroll and huff to my feet, walking to stand over him with my hands on my hips.

 

     “You’re supposed to be asleep,” I grumble.

 

     He ignores me and simply whines again, kicking his feet and flapping his arms like a fledgling bird trying to fly.  Like I’m supposed to know what that means.

 

     Aunt Misako had claimed she and Uncle Garmadon would be back before the twins needed fed, so they couldn’t be hungry.  I stiffen when the realization suddenly dawns.  Oho no.  I would rather let them scream and cry than lay a finger on their diapers.

 

     I glare down at Lloyd as he starts to fuss again.  “No.  It’s your own fault for soiling your diaper.  You can live with it until Aunt Misako gets home.”

 

     Just as I start to head back to the armchair, however, Aurnia decides to join in and lets out a creaky wail.  I set my jaw, doing my best to resist the urge to scream myself.  My eyelid twitches as I whip back around and stomp over to the twins, their cries making my head hurt.

 

     “Fine!  I’ll change you!  Just stop screaming already!”

 

     I hoist Lloyd up perhaps a bit rougher than I should have, but I’m too fed up to care.  All but ripping the snaps open on his onesie, I hold my breath as I pull on the back of his diaper and peek inside.

 

     Nothing.

 

     After snapping up his onesie again, I switch to Aurnia and check her diaper.  Hers is clean too.

 

     I place her on the floor beside her brother and frown down at them because, seriously?  They don’t have anything better to do than to cry for no reason?

 

     Their crying starts again, and I pinch the bridge of my nose with a groan.  Babies are impossible.

 

     Out of ideas for how to calm them down, I flop onto the floor between them and decide to glare at the ceiling, accepting my fate.  Several minutes pass before I realize their crying has stopped.  I quickly glance on either side of me and find the twins drifting off to sleep.

 

     Although my initial reaction is to be annoyed that they couldn’t fall asleep without me lying on the floor and getting a backache, a part of me (a small part) warms at the sight of them cuddled up next to me.  I sigh and tuck my arms behind my head, closing my eyes for only a moment.

 

     Maybe…the brats aren’t so bad after all.

Maaaaaybe I’ll do more with Cousin! Morro??? Only time will tell.
