Chapter Text

"Five thousand years ago a fierce warrior known as the Scorpion King led a great army on a campaign to conquer the known world. After a vicious campaign which lasted seven long years. The Scorpion King and his army were defeated and driven deep into the sacred desert of Ahm Shere. One by one, they slowly perished Under the scorching sun until only the great warrior himself was left alive. Near death the Scorpion King made a pact with the dark god Anubis that if Anubis would spare his life and let him conquer his enemies he would give him his soul. Anubis accepted his offer and spared his life. Anubis gave the Scorpion King Command of his army and like an evil flood, they washed away. All that lay before them. When his task was done Anubis forced the Scorpion King to serve him for all time. His army was returned to the sands from whence they came where they wait, silently... to be awakened once again.” In the year 3067 B.C, the Scorpion King, a fearsome warrior who led a vicious campaign to conquer ancient Egypt, marched to the city of Thebes intending to rule. After a violent campaign between the Scorpion King’s army and the army of Thebes which lasted for seven years, the battle went to the army of Thebes, who cast out the invaders into the desert of Ahm Shere.

The Scorpion King soon found himself the last living member of his army, all the others having died from the desert heat, exhaustion, and last of food or water. At that point, the Scorpion King himself was dying, and in his last moments, he prayed to the god Anubis, pleading for the chance to win one last battle in exchange for his soul. In response, the god sent out a large black scorpion from the sands, which the warrior chewed up, despite its successful attempted to sting him, which resulted in a great oasis sprouting from the desert. The Scorpion King, with his fallen soldiers replaced with the Army of Anubis, itself, returned to Thebes and continued his siege, winning the battle and killing many. Once the battle had ended, however, the Scorpion King’s soul was taken to the Underworld as was the Army of Anubis. The King was branded by Anubis and would awaken five thousand years later, upon awakening, anyone who killed the Scorpion King could either send his army back to the Underworld or use it to enslave mankind and take over the earth. His bracelet was left on the sands and was now the guide to locating him and the Army of Anubis.

Five thousand years later in 1933 A.D. Rick O’Connell had long since married Evangelina Carnahan and sired eight year old twins: Alexandra and Abigail O’Connell and unbeknownst to Rick but Eva was pregnant with a third. The O’Connell’s and Bay’ had reached a temple along the banks of the Nile where Evelyn sat the Bracelet of Anubis, the emblem of the Scorpion King, the twins knew about the temple and how to access the Bracelet from Evelyn’s visions that she had been having and Sekhmet’s memories. As the twins looked at some carvings on a wall, Rick went in search of a noise but was shocked to discover it was his mischievous son, “Alex?” Rick holstered his gun and looked down at Alex who looked up at his father with a large smile on his lips, Abigail come out from the shadows and smiled up at her father, Abigail walked up to her brother and helped him stand up, she looked to her father with a large smile on her lips. “What were you thinking a mummy had come back to life?” The twins looked at their father who was looking around as if a mummy had indeed come back to life and that confused the twins causing the two of them to look at each other than at their father.

“I’ll tell you the story sometime. What are you doing down here? I told you both to wait for us there.” Abigail smiled as Alex started to argue but their father argued back until Abigail stepped up and said, “We saw your tattoo.” Their father looked at them confused then down at the leather band that was hiding the tattoo that he was ashamed of; he looked back to his children and said, “You found what?” Alex took hold of their father’s wrist then dragged him back to where the two saw their father’s tattoo, Abigail followed them at a distance but she smiled when her father grabbed hold of her hand. Soon the two had come to a cartoche where Alex pointed at, Abigail then brushed the cobwebs away and said, “We saw your tattoo on the wall near the entrance, there was a cartoche just like it with the pyramid and the eyes and the two kings, everything.”

Alex took off his father’s leather band and held it up for his father to see but Rick was less than amused and looked to his children, gently messing up their heads, he said, “Okay well, I’ll be up to take a look at that in a minute, but in the meantime, I want you two to wait for us up there.” The children watched as Rick pulled the leather band back on, they were then pushed out of the passage, causing Abigail to groan as she just wanted to go home. Once again Alex began to argue but their father wasn’t having any of it as he pointed down the passageway and said, “No buts. Pick up your stuff and I’ll see you in the temple. Go on.” The twins looked down the passageway then began to walk into it causing Alex to once again question their father but Abigail didn’t listen as she pulled out a hair-tie and pulled her hair into a high ponytail as she wanted it out of her way. “I don’t know, surprise me, do build a mouse trap. Don’t go and desecrate another tomb like your mother and aunt.” The twins nodded then walked off, Eva caught the end of his conversation with the twins and smiled to herself as she dusted off a little more of the wall that beautiful hieroglyphics were adorned on. She looked down and found a snake slithering up next to her, Eva put her foot underneath it and kicked it away from her, Rick just happened to be walking toward her just as she kicked it.

He made a struggled scream causing Eva to giggle, he looked to her and said, “Those are poisonous, you know.” Eva looked at his beautiful blue eyes that were questioning why she had just done that, Evie however wasn’t paying any attention to the lovingly couple, Rick walked over to pick up their tools, causing Eva to smile. “Only if they bite you. What was all that about?” Eva asked him curious as to what the twins had to say, like always the twins came with their parents wherever they travelled to and this time Evie decided to join them. Rick shook his head and looked to his wife, “Nothing. Alex wanted to show me something.” Rick complained but Evie looked to him with a smile causing Eva to do the same, she wondered where the twins were and what they were up to. Rick walked up to be beside his wife and looked at what they were looking at, “No, where were we?” “Hammer and chisel…?” Evie said holding up the tiny devices causing Rick and Eva to look at her with a raised eyebrow, realizing her mistake, she put them down and handed Rick a tow bar to take down the door, Rick nodded his head in thanks. He then knocked down the beautiful historic door that the twins had been reading, as the three were walking into the tomb, all the while stepping over scorpions and spiders that were absolutely everywhere. Immediately Eva noticed the sleeping quarters and corpses in the wall and bones on the ground, causing her to shiver.

“Ever since I had that dream…this place is all I can think about.” Evie started a new line of conversation as she was careful in where she was stepping as not to step on anything that would harm her. Eva rolled her eyes and smiled as she knew what dream her sister was on about. “Ever since you had that dream, I haven’t had a decent night of sleep.” Rick said sounding annoyed. Eva rolled her eyes as she knew that every since Evie had that dream; she was at their house trying to convince them of it. Eva cringed as Rick ungracefully stepped on all the critters surrounding them not caring about what could bite or sting him. “I feel like we’ve been here before. I know we’ve been here before.” Eva looked to her twin and knew that both of them had been there before, Eva had kept what truly happened to her after she had been killed and in the mindscape though she hadn’t told anyone of the mindscapes she had shared with Imhotep. Placing a hand on her stomach, she knew that Sekhmet had been in this place before as she had all of her memories, but she had to lie to her sister about it all.

“Evie, nobody has been here before, not in at least three thousands years. Except for these guys.” Rick said, making his point by pointing at some corpses, not amused the twins walked over to the wall where a lever was sticking out, the twins both knew which way they were supposed to go, the twins looked at each other and then they both pulled the lever and the door opened. Evie smiled at her sister, Eva looked to her husband and asked a little snobbish, “Then how do Evie and I seem to know where we are going?” In the other room, the twins were running over to a mouse trap, Alex then saw rats at the feet of a statue, seeing this Abigail put cheese on the mouse trap, the two then saw shadows of someone coming into the room causing the twins grabbed their bags and ran up the scaffolding and saw three men with torches walk in. “Knock, knock. Anybody home?” The men were walking around while the twins were watching them, the twins looked at each other than back at the men, “You two check out that stuff, see if it’s there and I’ll sort out the O’Connell’s.” Back with the three, Evie was also acting all proud but Eva could see that she was also scared; Rick got in front of them and led them down the passageway with the twins holding hands. Both of them were so intrigued by the beautiful writings on the wall as the twins were falling far behind him, but they caught up to him when there were at an entryway into a new area of the temple. The twins instantly got a sense of familiarity wash over them, suddenly the walls were adorned in gold and Sekhmet and Nefertiri opened the door in front of them. Both twins got a glimpse of what was inside and it was two guards surrounding a box before Sekhmet and Nefertiri closed the door, the twins put a combination into the lock and pushed the door closed fully licking the guards in the room and walked towards the other set of twins. Eva smiled as she saw the two women, everything soon faded back to the original colourless temple when Rick walked through Nefertiri. Evie looked around even more confused than when she had first got there, Rick stopped to turn and looked at the twins looking at the walls.

Eva stepped forward and placed a hand one of the walls, Rick walked up to the twins and looked at Eva, “You okay hun?” He asked a little concern slipping into his tone, as he softened up on using the tow bar to try to pry open the door the women had walked through. “I just had a vision. It was like my dream, but it was real. It was like we were actually here in ancient times.”  Evie told him a little scared, Rick nodded then looked at his wife who looked at him and without a word handing him the torch and let go of her sister’s hand. She put in the combination and the door creaked open, “Now you’re starting to scare me.” Rick finally spoke with a tremble in his voice. Eva and Evie looked to him then Evie said, “We’re starting to scare ourselves.” Rick walked through the door, the twins followed closely behind, the twins instantly went to the box, Eva saw the almost gong like emblem and started brushing the cobwebs off it. “That’s the emblem of the Scorpion King. He’s supposed to be pure myth. No trace of him has ever been found before. No artefacts. No archival evidence…Let’s open this.” Evie said while looking at the chest but Rick and Eva felt like something back was going to happen as last time they had opened something Imhotep was raised from the dead. “Evelyn, I don’t know. I don’t have a good feeling about this.” Rick voiced his concerns, but the twins ignored him with Evie saying, “It’s only a chest. No harm ever came from opening a chest.” Evie countered and this caused Eva and Rick to look at her and for Eva to say, “Right and no harm ever came from reading a book. Remember how that went?”

The twins looked at each other then Evie nodded her head as her twin had a point, she then spun to took hold of her sister’s hands and tried to convince her with her eyes, Eva looked to Rick for help but he backed off. Eva looked back to her sister, “Come on. We can’t stop now.” Evie looked into her sisters eyes, Eva looked at her giving into her sister’s gaze ad said, “Okay. Okay…Just remember, Rick and I were the voice of reason here.” Evie smiled and let go of her sister’s hands, both sisters took hold of a hand and was trying to pry open the top of the chest but were getting no where until Rick came up with his own idea. “Let’s do it this way.” He said handing Eva the key to the chest, causing her to smile at him, the twins looked at each other than opened the chest, causing them to whisper in prefect unison, “The bracelet of Anubis.” Eva took it out of the chest and held it admiring every detail, as soon as the bracelet was removed, sand started falling from the ceiling. “Shit!” Eva exclaimed throwing the bracelet back into the chest and closing the case back up, as the two began to argue. “What’s it say?” Rick asked, Eva looked at him with a raised eyebrow and looked back at the chest, “He who disturbs this bracelet shall drink from the Nile. Well, that doesn’t sound too bad.”

Back with the younger twins, the two were still watching the men as the one in the room with them was searching the room and looking at the statue on the ground, “Look at this. Look at the state of this rubbish. The Egyptians never had a clue. Look at the statue. It’s chipped. Look at that ancient rubbish.” Abigail watched as Alex pulled on a catapult and used it to fling a stone at a man causing him to jump, the men pulled out their guns and then saw the twins, “Aaaahhhh! Jack! Something hit my neck!” Abigail smirked as one of the men was holding his neck then looked to the Jack who looked around the room and said, “This place is cursed. We don’t want to wake the Gods.” Abigail watched as another man ran through another passageway looking for Rick, he saw scorpions but the man stepped on them and ran down the passageway. Once again Alex used his catapult but the man he was aiming at bend over and jumped up when he was hit causing the twins to laugh, but the other man looked around and up to where the twins where causing Abigail to get scared.

Seeing the man looking at them, Alex used his catapult but this time the man caught the stone and looked up to where the twins were and smirked, “I’ll take care of this.” Rick threw the chest into his bag and they ran out of the room with him dragging both twins by their arms like they were going to be left behind. Suddenly water came barrelling at them; Rick pulled them around the tomb running from the water as best as they could, though they both knew there was no way out. Rick finally gave in and realized they were trapped; he quickly hugged both twins and water hit them, suddenly Eva couldn’t breathe, it started getting harder to tread the water and she went under. Suddenly she felt Rick’s arms around her again holding her up and swimming them over to a grate where they held onto the bars to keep their heads above water. “This is bad…” Eva nodded gasping for air.

Back with the younger set of twins, a man was climbing up the ladder to them, Abigail took hold of her brother and pulled him behind her, she glared at the man that was climbing up to them, “Jacks gonna make a nice fillet out of you!” Suddenly another man came running out of another passageway, causing Abigail to move forward and take hold of the top of the ladder, she looked down at the man and pushed the ladder off, causing the man to crash to the ground. The man that was going to kill them stood up and kicked the scaffolding, this caused the twins to lose their balance. Suddenly the scaffolding collapsed taking pillars down in a domino effect, the twins stood in middle of the mess looking at it then looking at each other. The twins looked around, the twins ran over to a pillar and tried to push it, the twins looked at the emblem on the wall that was of their father’s tattoo, the pillar moves forcing the twins to jump out of the way. The pillar smashed through the wall letting in water that carried their parents and aunt with the water ending at the feet of the twins. The three adults were gasping for air, the twins looked from side to side then watched as the three adults wiped water off of their faces and then the twins looked at them and in perfect unison said, “Mum, dad. We can explain everything.”

As the three adults were trying to dry themselves off, Eva suddenly felt something in the air, stopping from drying herself she looked up into the air causing confusion among her family, soon her breathing deep and even, a gentle snuffling of air through her nose, but gradually as she rose from the nightmare and awareness grabbed hold of the consciousness, it became a wheezing and whining sound interspersed with violent trembling of the body.  The tone of her breathing deepened but took on a rasping, scraping, spluttering and ragged tortured noise, shallow and rapid, lips trembling with each outlet of air, the intake fluttering as it struggled to infiltrate her constricted throat and feed the heaving lungs and palpitating heart. Eva’s skin crawled and she glanced down at her hand, noting that her hair was standing on end. Eva was shocked to discover that her skin was deathly pale and that all she could hear was a faint whooshing noise. Everything went black and the next thing she knew she was on the sand with Rick saying, “Not again.”

Back in the mindscape, Eva looked down at her clothing and was surprised that she was in her normal clothing, seeing Imhotep looking up at the sky, she called out to him, “'iimhutib?” Imhotep turned to look at his beloved and was confused as to why she was in the afterlife, “'iifanjilina? ma aladhi tafealuh huna?” He walked up to her and the two met in the middle with the two holding each other arms, this caused Eva to look around and say, “madha taqsidu? 'ayn nahna?” Before Imhotep could reply, the light above them began to dim, causing the two to hold on to each other and run to the balcony where they could see what was currently happening. Both were shocked to see that Hamunaptra had been excavated, the excavators had been paid by a cult lead by Baltus Hafez, curator of the British Museum, causing Eva to raise an eyebrow. Men were digging in the dark, the dig-out was being illuminated by spotlight, the two looked up and saw men in the distance, a man walked past and another man was pulling a donkey. Suddenly a truck pulled up hill and in a tent there was a map and a man laid the Book of the Dead on top of the map. “The Book of the Dead gives life.” A young woman brought in the Book of Amun-Ra and laid it next to the other book, causing Imhotep and Eva to look at each other as they were confused as to what was going to happen. “And the Book of Amun-Ra takes life away.” “I thought that was my job.” “We’re getting close.”

As soon as the two saw Meela, Eva felt Imhotep tense, causing her to look up at him and was afraid for a moment as he was confused as to how Anck-Su-Namun was reincarnated when she wasn’t supposed to be able to. Soon they saw men in a tower with guns with a spotlight searching around them, the men continued to dig the pit while they were being guarded or threatened. A truck then drove into the city; men from the temple got out and walked up to the curator. “Did you acquire it?” Suddenly the ground outside and inside the mindscape started to shake causing Imhotep to take hold of Eva and hold her to him but this caused the curator to turn around to look at the hole. The men had stopped digging and the spotlight turned around and saw the three men, and they were all looking at the ground. The curator backed odd and the men in the pit then looked at each other then looked to the ground as it rose into a mound that got bigger, the mound was soon surrounded by workmen as they backed further away. The mound was still growing as thousands of scarabs poured out of it causing the men to scatter with the scarabs after them.

The three men jumped up on the truck, the other men were scrambling out of the hole, they were covered in scarabs and a man was being eaten by scarabs as he fell back into the pit, but Meela walked off. “We’re getting very close.” The men in the distance used flame throwers to kill the scarabs while the curator looked behind him and said, “We’ve found him. We’ve found him. We’ve found him.” He and the other men started to run in the opposite direction and toward a crane as it was lifting something out of the pit, and then it lowered it to the ground. The curator hurried over to it and touched it. “Out of the way! It’s him! It’s him! It’s Imhotep!” Imhotep and Eva looked at each other as Imhotep seemed to fade causing Eva to be greatly concerned, but both looked and saw Meela arrived at the thing, Meela looked at it and ran a hand over it causing Imhotep to flinch. “Now we must raise those who will serve him.” Lock-Nah lifted a vase and Meela and the curator turned as the three men pushed through the crowd of men and argued amongst themselves. Lock-Nah and the other men were raising their guns at the newcomers but Meela called out for them to put the guns down and they all did. “I told you I should have handled it.” “I did not want your past history to cloud the issue.” The curator turned to look at his men and said, “Then London is where we must go.” At this Imhotep had fully disappeared and the mindscape crumbled forcing Eva to wake up and sit bolt straight into Rick’s arms as she gasped for breath but was still weak. Looking around she realized that she was in a hospital but she groaned at her husband and sister being overprotective as ever she used to faint a lot of the time ten years ago and it had been ten years since she had fainted like that. It was her fainting that caused her family to become concerned.

Chapter Text

At nightfall and during a thunder storm, a car pulled up outside of the O’Connell mansion, Rick got out of the car and walked over to help Eva out of the car, causing her to groan as they entered the mansion, Evie who had accompanied them back said, “I think the bracelet is some sort of guide to the lost Oasis of Ahm Shere.” Rick rolled his eyes and groaned, his eyes still on his wife who had refused to tell him why she had fainted, placing a hand on her head, Rick was instantly by her side but she leaned into him with a sad expression on her face. She knew that she had to tell them that Imhotep was back but she didn’t know how to start that sort of conversation. Standing up on her own, Eva leaned on the railing and looked to her husband, “I already with Evie we should go to Ahm Shere.” Rick groaned and watched as Evie went into the guest room as her husband was busy doing his duty and her son had refused to come with them and was being trained to be a Medjai. Rick smirked then placed both hands on the railing, successfully blocking his wife from escape, he gently rubbed their noses together and said, “Eva I know what you’re thinking and the answers no, we just got home.” Rick freed his wife from her prison and picked up the bags, together the two walked up to the other part of the landing, where Rick put the bags down, “That’s the beauty of it. We’re already packed.”

Suddenly Eva felt dizzy and light headed, on instinct she clutched hold of Rick who helped sit her on the ground, leaning her head back, she kept taking it deep breaths causing her not to see the worry on Rick’s face. Picking her up, Rick walked up the stairs allowing her to rest her head against his chest and groaned when Evie decided to argue with Rick, causing Eva to bury her head in Rick’s chest. The three of them stopped at the shelves on the wall and Evie walked over to them, she climbed up and reached for a book, she jumped off of the stool and landed perfectly on the ground. Suddenly two more cars pulled up in the lightning and rain, inside the mansion Alex and Abigail were carrying the chest, “Mum, what do we do with this chest, sucker weighs a god damn ton.” The three adults looked over the landing and down at him, “Alex! Abigail! Watch your language!” The younger sister of twins looked t each other than up at their mother, and said in a prefect British accent, “Rather weighty this.” The twins put the chest on the table, as the two turned to walk away to go to bed, the chest unlocked causing them to look at it, back with the three adults, Eva was set on her feet and was walking toward her own bedroom. “Evie that first weird dream of yours was exactly six weeks ago.”

Evie nodded and looked to her twin, Eva took a book off of the shelves and thumbed through it, “It just happens to coincide with Egyptian New Year. Let’s just be cautious okay?” Eva showed her husband and sister the year of the scorpion causing Evie to look up at her with a flicker of fear in her eyes. Down with the twins, Alex opened the chest and they saw the Bracelet of Anubis, the two looked at it then at each other than at their parents. “If anything ever happened to you, I would never forgive myself.” Despite Abigail trying to stop him, Alex took the bracelet out of the chest and put it on, lights shone out of bracelet, they were shocked to see pyramids on the wall. “You and the twins are the only things that matter to me.” The pictures moved over a desert to Karnak, they soon stopped and Alex looked round and with his twin’s help, tried to get bracelet off but were unable to. “Christ, how do you get this thing off?” On the balcony, Evie had walked off, Rick tipped Eva back, and they both looked up then stood up as knickers were hanging over a bookshelf. Eva looked to her husband with a raised eyebrow, she pointed at the knickers with one finger. “Those knickers are not mine.”

“Jonathan!” The younger set of twins looked up at their father looked over the landing and shouted down at them. “Hey kids! Behave yourselves for five minutes okay?” The twins nodded as Alex covered his wrist as Eva came down, then he put a statue in the chest and closed the lid, he turned round as Eva came in, she then handed him a book. Eva smiled at her children; she gently rubbed their heads then knelt in front of them, this confused the twins but she took hold of their hands and smiled at them, this confused them even more as they looked at each other than at their mother. “My little loves. How would you two like to have another sibling?” The twins looked at each other than at their mother and instantly embraced her causing Eva to smile and tighten her grip on her children.

Elsewhere Jonathan and a young woman came around a corner, with him telling her how he had killed Imhotep and his followers, he held a gold stick in his hands and they walked into his room, but once they were in the room a man in red walked toward them. He and the woman back into another man, he is grabbed and she is pushed out asking her to call him but Jonathan is forced to sit down and he saw the curator who walked across the room to Jonathan. As the two spoke, Jonathan tried to stand up but was pushed back down, as he tried to correct them for mistaking him for Rick, he saw a knife at his throat. “Ah! That bracelet! Yes! Of course now I remember! I lost in a card game!” “For your sake I hope not.” The curator grabbed the stick from Jonathan’s hand, Meela walked in with a basket, she waved hello to Jonathan who waved back and watched as she put the basket down, and take a snake out. “Egyptian Asps are quite poisonous.” Jonathan winced as he still had a knife to his throat, Meela held the snake, she walked over to Jonathan after kissing the snake, she put the snake near his throat causing him to pull back. Rick then entered the room, and saw others still standing round Jonathan, “Jonathan I thought I told you nor more wild parties.”

“You know when you’re popular.” In the living room Evie and Eva were searching the twin’s pockets for a key, sensing something was off, Eva turned around and looked up, “Good evening.” This caused Evie to stand up, Eva stood before her sister and children, she glared at the man before her, “Who are you and what are you doing in my house?” Lock-Nah looked at her and then her sister, then to the chest that Alex and Abigail grabbed, Evie ran to get a sword off of the wall while Eva picked up two sais. Lock-Nah was joined by some of his men, “Definitely not the best idea. I think it’s time to call for dad now.” “Now I will kill you and take it away.” The younger set of twins turned to the door and were shocked when a shadow went past them revealing it to be Evelyn’s husband: Ardeth Bay, who was glaring at Lock-Nah for threatening his wife. “I think not.” Lock-Nah then saw something sliver and black go past the younger twins as Ardeth walked up to the older twins and stood next to his wife who was gratefully that he was there. “Ardeth, what are you doing here?” Ardeth looked to his wife than to his sister in law, who he was confused by as she was in a stance he had never seen before as it was an ancient one and he had a sinking suspicion. Lock-Nah and Ardeth glared at each other, back in Jonathan’s room, “Knowing my brother in law, he probably deserves whatever you are about to do to him but this is my house, I have certain rules about snakes and dismembering.”

Meela threw the snake at Rick who ducked and caught it, Meela then ordered the men to kill Rick, who threw it back, Meela moved out of the way and the snake hit a man, then a fight began between Rick and the other men. Downstairs Ardeth took off his cloak and a fight started between him and some men, the younger twins were holding onto the chest, Eva hit one of them then fought with her sais. “Wow, mum. Where did you learn that?” Eva looked to her son and smiled, she expertly dodged another strike then back flipped onto a table, she then kicked the sword out of the man’s hands and smirked at the man. Looking to her children, she finally answered the question. “I have no idea.” Back to the fight upstairs, machine guns were being used causing the two to move to the bathroom, bullet holes were appearing everywhere, downstairs the younger twins were doing battle with a man who tried to get the chest, the twins lost it and fell on the floor. “What’s in the chest?” “The bracelet of Anubis.” Lock-Nah began to fight Ardeth, Eva and Evie fought two of the others, “They must not get the bracelet, get it and get out of here.”

Abigail pulled a shelf down on top of one of the men as he tried to get his sword. “Mum! Look out!” Eva was then knocked unconscious and carried off, as Ardeth tried to get her back he became hurt, Lock-Nah threw a dagger at Ardeth, who held his shoulder but moved out of the way, the dagger went into the wall instead. Lock-Nah put on his cloak and left, back upstairs, Rick was in the bathroom looking for Jonathan who appeared from under a load of bubbles, he shook off bubbles from his face. “What did you do this time?” “I…I haven’t done anything to anyone.” Rick pulled Jonathan out of the bath, they ducked as bullets come through the doors, more holes appeared in it saw them running for window and jumping through it. They jumped through the glass and they rolled off of the canopy onto the balcony, they peered over and jumped down to the ground, a man stood in the window firing a machine gun. Both men were running with bullets hitting the wall and gate as they went through, a car left the house, the two had to jump out of the way and watched it leave. In the car Eva looked out and called out to her husband, a cloth was placed over her mouth and she disappeared, Jonathan and Rick chased after her, the other car came out with guns firing from the door, forcing the two to run to a pillar and hide as bullets bounced off of it. As the care left the doors were closed, both of they went down the drive as lightening flashes, the younger twins run up with Ardeth and Evie behind him.

“Dad! Dad!” Rick picked up his children and after making sure that they were alright, he put down the children, he saw Ardeth who bowed, but Rick grabbed him and swung him around against the pillar. “What the hell are you doing here? Who the hell are those guys? Where are they taking my wife?” Ardeth grabbed Rick’s arms and pulled a picture out of his coat; Alex grabbed hold of the picture and spoke about it to his father, causing all of them to look at him as Alex looked at the picture. “Are you sure?” Alex nodded, they all turned and left the mansion, the six of them ran around the corner, after hearing that Imhotep was going to be revived again, Jonathan pointed his stick at Ardeth, “I don’t mean to point fingers but isn’t that your job to make sure that doesn’t happen.” “The woman who was with them, she knows things, things that no living person could possibly know. She knew exactly where the creature was buried. We were hoping she would lead us to the bracelet. She obviously did, now they have it.” “I wouldn’t get too nervous just yet.” They all stopped at the car and looked to Alex, he showed them that he was wearing the bracelet, Ardeth grabbed Alex’s hands and looked at the bracelet as they spoke about it, and Abigail was more concerned about her mother. Rick then pointed at Ardeth, “You lighten up. You big trouble. You get in the car.”

They all got into the car, Rick opened the door for his twins, as he got into the driving seat and began driving causing the car to skid and drove out of the grounds, as the group were talking, Abigail showed off her knowledge and said, “Now that the bracelet is on Alex’s wrist, we only have seven days before the Scorpion King awakens. If he is not killed, he will raise the Army of Anubis.” Jonathan was sitting behind Rick and said, “I take it that’s not a good thing.” He leaned forward, Rick and Ardeth looked at him, “He could wipe out the world.” “Oh the old wipe out the world ploy.” Jonathan leaned back in his seat, the car was travelling on the road, as they spoke, Abigail and Alex looked at each other as both were confused as they didn’t know who Imhotep was. As they arrived at the British Museum, lightening flashed, Rick stopped the car and got out with the others, Rick then turned to look at his children and said, “Now Alex, Abigail. I have a big job for you both, I want you two to stay here and protect the car. Jonathan will stay with you.” Rick opened the boot of the car to reveal a bundle in the back, he then pulled the cloth off to reveal an arrair of weapons, Rick, Ardeth and Evie were standing in the rain. Rick reached for his gun, Ardeth reached in and grabbed the Thompson, Evie then grabbed her own gun, Ardeth then saw Rick’s wrist tattoo as all three loaded their guns. “If I were to say to you, I’m a stranger travelling from the east, searching for that which is lost.” “I would reply I am a stranger travelling from the west, it is I that you seek.”

Ardeth then stopped hold of Rick’s arm causing him and Evie to stare at him. “Then it is true, you have the sacred mark.” “What that? Nah I got that slapped on me when I was in the orphanage in Cairo.” Rick pulled away and continued loading his gun, Ardeth looked at him, Evie looked at her husband then back at Rick. “That mark means you are a protector of man, a warrior for God, a Medjai.” “Sorry you got the wrong guy.” Inside the museum, the men were chanting, Lock-Nah and the men walked forward, they were carrying an unconscious Eva on a board and they walk through the circle of torches. She woke up and saw men bowing and saw the curator who was chanting in ancient Egyptian. Eva looked around and gulped at the mound, “They’ve found him.” In another part of the museum and lightening flashing, Rick, Ardeth and Evie were coming in they walked through rooms that were lit up by the lightening, they could also hear the chanting in the distance. Back to the circle and object in the centre with the men bowing, Eva was sitting up and looked around, she saw the curator, Rick, Ardeth and Evie walked through exhibits looking around; suddenly they saw mummies rise up in coffins, with the three trying to avoid them. Inside the circle, Eva looked around and saw the shadows of Rick, Ardeth and Evie appeared on the balcony of the second floor, once again lightening flashed and she could clearly see their faces.

Back to the curator chanting the object broke open, a hand came out, Lock-Nah who was kneeling looked up, the object broke apart and Imhotep immerged, he jumped down and walked around, he saw Lock-Nah and then Eva. “'iimhutib?” All of the men knelt before the mummy, who had eyes only for Eva, he even ignored what was being said as he was walking to Eva, and she gulped as he raised a hand toward her, “'iifanjilina?” Eva looked up when she heard something causing Imhotep to turn around and both saw Meela walked in, Eva closed her eyes and then opened them to see Meela change into Anck-Su-Namun and then back to Meela. Lightning flashed, Meela walked across the room, Meela and Imhotep looked at each other, but before the curator or Meela could say anything, Imhotep backhanded her causing Meela to fall to the ground. She and the curator were horrified as he pointed back at Eva and said, “'utliq sarahaha! alan!” Meela stood up and looked at him confused as to why he had done that “'ana 'anak su namun wulidat min jadidin.” But Imhotep didn’t care as he got in Meela’s face causing her to take a step backward, she looked up at him even more confused, Eva looked at the scene before and was herself confused. “ana la aihtama! UTLIQ SARAHI…ZUJATI! ALAN!” When nobody did what he had asked, he once again backhanded Meela, causing her to fall to the ground; he then turned to the curator and would have down something drastic, Eva was the one to stop him when she called out, “'iimhutb! atrukha!”

This caused Imhotep to stop in his stride and looked back at Eva. Rick, Ardeth and Evie were on the balcony; Rick walked past Ardeth and watched as the chest was opened by Lock-Nah and the curator, who said, “Imhotep will be pleased.” As the lid was opened, the curator held up the statue, as they were talking, Eva and Imhotep were keeping eye contact. With the car, Jonathan and the twins were sitting in the car and Alex was informing his uncle of what he had seen when he put on the bracelet. Back inside, Meela stood up and walked up to Imhotep, she tried to get his attention by saying, “ladaya hadiat lika.” Everyone turned to look at Eva who flinched when all eyes were on her, men picked up the board; Eva tried to release the ropes, as they carried her to the flaming pit. Imhotep looked to Meela and said for her not to burn Eva, but Meela mistranslated him and yelled, “BURN HER!” Imhotep looked horrified as the men went to throw her into flames, Eva looked to Imhotep and started pleading, “'iimhutb! min fadlik tawaqaf ean hadha! 'ana hamilu! 'ANA HAMILU!” Rick came through the flames and jumped over to catch Eva just as she was thrown off the board. The men fell back, Ardeth and Evie opened fire with their guns blazing, Imhotep looked around and then up to Ardeth and Evie. Back with the car, they jumped off and tried to open the door as the curator was dodging bullets, Lock-Nah picked up his gun and handed it to Meela, she fired back at Ardeth and Evie. During the gun battle, Rick untied Eva, back to the car the twins and Jonathan were in the car, Jonathan put the key in the ignition while they were all arguing.

Back in the museum, Ardeth and Evie kept firing their guns and bullets kept hitting the iron bars next to them, Imhotep and Rick both recognize each other, “PERSEUS!” Rick fired and hit Imhotep in the shoulder, the men fired their guns and Rick handed Eva a gun, with both of them firing, the two backed off as they carried on firing. Until Eva saw boxes with Formeldahyde written on it, boxes exploded behind the other men, they caught on fire and the flames shot into the air, the husband and wife ran up the stairs, still firing. Imhotep walked through the men, who were firing and Imhotep pushed them out of the way, another explosion rocked the museum, the men and Meela ducked as flames shot up behind them, Rick and Eva went up toward Ardeth and Evie. “GO! GO! GO!” Imhotep picked up an enormous urn, he held the urn with the flames behind him and chanted, “ajmae eizamaka. ajmae 'atrafaka. anfaduu alarid ean lihmikum. sayiduk huna.” Imhotep took the lid off the urn, and poured sand out of the urn and out of the sand appeared four mummified soliders causing the three to flinch and Eva to stare transfixed, “hatamahum!”

The four watched as the mummies got ready to charge causing them to groan, “Not these guys again!” Then the mummies screamed outside with the car, Jonathan and the twins were in the car they went out to go to the door of the museum and the four ran out, Evie ran back and pulled a bench in front of the door, Ardeth ran back and grabbed hold of her arm, “Habibty. What are you doing? These guys don’t use doors.” The couple ran round the side of the building where they see the empty car causing Rick to be confused, they then saw a double decker bus pull up with Jonathan driving. This caused the couples to look at each other than Rick looked to his children, “What’s wrong with my car?” Jonathan looked at his brother in law and smiled at him “I was forced to use alternative transportation.” “A double decker bus?” “It was his idea.” As Jonathan and Alex argued, Abigail couldn’t help but notice her mother looking at the museum, the two couples then jumped on the bus and just as the bus pulled away, the mummies broke through the wall. This caused bricks to fly everywhere, the mummies jumped down onto Rick’s car causing him to groan and call out, “No! No! Not my car!”

The mummies than ran after the bus, Rick stood on the platform and hung on as it pulled away, the mummies continued running after it all the while jumping over things and a car. The bus swung around a corner missing a car and Rick was still hanging off the platform and saw a mummy jump over a car and it blew up behind him. Rick and Ardeth watched through the windows of the bus, causing Rick to say, “I hate mummies.” “Glad to see me now.” “Just like old times.” Rick went upstairs and sat down at the back window as the mummies were still coming Rick fired at them but they climbed the walls of the building and raced along the vertical walls. One of them came onto the bus, causing Ardeth to fire at it, this forced Eva and the twins to turn around as Evie fired at the mummy forcing it to fall off of the bus. The mummy that was on the ground was crushed as the bus sped away, Rick was still firing at the mummies, he reloaded his gun and started to fire at the roof of the bus as one of them had jumped on top of it, he moved down the bus firing, allowing holes to appear in the roof. Jonathan was still driving the bus down the wall, Ardeth was still firing then yelled as half a mummy got back on the bus, it knocked the gun from his hand and hit Ardeth across the bus, the twins screamed as the mummy fought Ardeth from one side of the bus to the other.

Seeing this Eva tried to protect her children, soon the roof was ripped open by a mummy, Rick tried to reload his gun forcing the mummy jump down and they fought and Rick lost the gun. He tried to get it back but the mummy grabbed him forcing the two to have a hand to hand battle. On the lower half of the bus, the mummy jumped over a seat and focused on his fingernails growling, it attacked Ardeth and ripped down his chest, Eva shouted at Jonathan to turn the bus causing him to battle with the wheel. This caused the bus to skid and hit something and allowing sparks to fly, a car came round the corner and was heading straight for the bus that swerved round the other cars. Rick’s gun fell onto the engine, causing Eva to look at it through the window, the mummy slashed at Ardeth’s chest again and sent him flying across the bus and into his beloved wife. The mummy bent over him but then it was disintegrated when Eva blasted it with a gun, she fired again and the mummy fell out of the back window. The bus turned into a road and people scattered Rick threw himself to the floor and covered his head as he saw the low bridge through the window. The bus went under a low bridge that ripped the top of the bus off taking half of the mummy with him.

Chapter Text

Rick climbed out of the debris of what was left of the top of the bus that went over tower bridge and soon stopped, “Great driving Uncle John.” Jonathan and the younger twins hugged each other then Alex hit him on the cheek, Rick smiled as he got onto the bottom deck of the bus. He looked down at Ardeth and grew concerned. “Hey. You alright?” “This was my first bus ride.” Ardeth was lying against the side of the bus with Evie tending to him, Eva beckoned Rick over, she smiled up at him and said, “What would I do without you?” The younger twins walked to the back of the bus completely disgusted by their parents kissing, they looked up the stairs at the damage, suddenly hands grabbed the twins and pulled them off of the bus. This forced their parents to part and see their children being pulled away causing them to run up the bus but they were too late, they both were already in the car and it drove off. Rick jumped off of the bus and gave chase as it was headed back over a bridge, a man knocked out the operator and pushed the button to raise the bridge, the car slowed down and he jumped in then it sped off.

The bridge started to raise, Rick ran up the bridge and jumped to the other side as the car disappeared with Rick clinging on, with a view over London with Meela and Imhotep watching, “sa'adhhab 'iilaa "'ahumu" wa'aqtul almalik aleaqrab.” Lightning flashed as they watched as the curator walked up to them, “wabijayshih sanahkum alealama. meaan.” Imhotep glared at her and once again backhanded her, causing her to hold her face as she was confused as to why he wasn’t falling in love in her and why he wouldn’t listen to her. “La!” He took her by the throat and was about to assimilate her organs when the curator interrupted him, causing Imhotep to let her go and to face him. “rabi. hunak shay' yajib 'an taerifahu. ladayhim sawlajan 'uwzuris, laqad ra'aytuhu.” Imhotep got into the curator’s face and was going to demand that they find Evangelina, but he also knew that they would reunite eventually. “bihulul alwaqt aladhi wasalna fih 'iilaa ahma, kanat quay qad tawaladat min jadida. lan takun ladayna hajat lilsawlajan.”

On the outside of the bus, Eva was trying to keep herself together, but something was off and she knew it, turning to face her family, “Rick?” Rick and her family looked at her as her breathing went deep and even, a gentle snuffling of air through her nose, but gradually as she rose from the nightmare and awareness grabbed hold of the consciousness, it became a wheezing and whining sound interspersed with violent trembling of the body.  The tone of her breathing deepened but took on a rasping, scraping, spluttering and ragged tortured noise, shallow and rapid, lips trembling with each outlet of air, the intake fluttering as it struggled to infiltrate her constricted throat and feed the heaving lungs and palpitating heart. Eva’s skin crawled and she glanced down at her hand, noting that her hair was standing on end. Eva was shocked to discover that her skin was deathly pale and that all she could hear was a faint whooshing noise. Everything went black and the next thing she knew she was on the sand with Rick calling for her to wake up.

Eva groaned as she awoke in the mindscape again but this time she was wearing a strapless dirt stained wedding dress, which had a form fitting corseted bodice that ended in a deep V in the front. The dress had a long flowing pleated skirt with a rip up the middle showing either one of her legs. There was light blue filigree on the bottom of the skirt and the edging of the veil. There were pearls trimming the bottom and top of the bodice. Her tattered veil was attached to a rose crown made of blue roses. She also wore tattered fingerless gloves that ended to her elbows though her right one appears to be hanging on her wrist. She wore white pumps and white stockings, (that have piled at her ankles) to match her wedding dress. Blinking at the odd clothing, she found herself in a different area of the palace and she realized that was where Sekhmet and Imhotep had gotten married, looking around she smiled as she stood at the altar and wondered why she was alone. But she was startled to find that she was in fact not alone. Imhotep stood beside her and looked at the altar, neither said a word for a moment until Eva broke the silence, “rijaluk aikhtatafuu 'atfali.”

This caused Imhotep to look at her but he didn’t say a word as he didn’t understand the men working with him would kidnap the children of his love. Turning to her, he gently caressed her cheek and then to her shock kissed her. The love and tenderness this caused her eyes to flutter close. He caressed her other cheek with his other hand. His tongue slid into her mouth gently, dancing with hers. Her arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer. One hand moved to rest on her hip. She moved to break away but he pulled her back, the hand that was on her cheek tangling in her hair and holding her there. Her heart fluttered. He broke the kiss to look into her eyes, his forehead on hers. A red tint decorated her cheeks. Eva smiled, just a little smile at first, but as it grew it pressed her rosy cheeks up and slowly revealed her teeth, like a perfect pearl necklace. Finally the smile reached her eyes, lightning them, causing them to crinkle at the corners, in that moment she was everything Imhotep had ever hoped for. She was everything Imhotep would ever need.

But suddenly and to his confusion, she pursed her lips and raised her right hand back, she threw her hand forward as hard as she could, whipping it across his face. The crack of skin contacting skin echoed off the walls. Vibrations of pain started in her palm and spread all the way to her fingertips. Her palm was bright red, the same red mark that -matched the one on his face. Imhotep stared at Eva with his eyes wide as Imhotep’s hand slowly made it to his fire red and stinging cheek. Eva angrily pointed a finger at him and said, “kan dhalik bisabab akhtitaf abni wabnti!” Gently and attentively he placed a hand on the finger pointing at him and gently lowered it, he then pulled her to him and with a smile on her face, he was about to kiss her again when he saw tears in her eyes. Imhotep smiled a sad smile and kissed her on her forehead, this caused Eva to leave the mindscape and awaken with a gasp. She looked around herself and saw her husband holding her; she looked away from him when Ardeth, Jonathan and Evie hurried over to them, “Please do not fear for your son my friends. They cannot hurt him for he wears the bracelet.”

Eva ever so slowly stood up and pursed her lips and raised her right hand back, she threw her hand forward as hard as she could, whipping it across his face. The crack of skin contacting skin echoed off the walls. Vibrations of pain started in her palm and spread all the way to her fingertips. Everyone stared at Eva with their eyes wide as Ardeth’s hand slowly made it to his fire red and stinging cheek. “They can hurt Abigail! She is not wearing the bracelet!” As Rick took hold of her, she calmed down but continued to glare at the man before her, though she wasn’t actually aware that Alex had put on the bracelet, she knew that they would need to keep him alive. “When he put it on he said he saw the pyramids of Giza then the temple of Karnak. When they reach Karnak, the bracelet will show him the next step of the journey. If we don’t get to Karnak before them, we won’t have any idea where to look for them.” Eva groaned and knelt on the ground, she suddenly had a revelation that when Imhotep saw the children, he would let no harm come to them as they were her children. Glancing up at her husband she knew that she should tell him about the mindscape that her and Imhotep shared and that he had kissed her.

In a train station, people were walking around, the train pulled out with pyramids in the background, the train went past and men were standing on top of it. “When Imhotep first encountered the O’Connells, they sent his immortal soul to the underworld. As powerful as he will become, he is still vulnerable. Only with the army of Anubis will he be invincible. He will need your help. For him to ally with us, you must kill Evangelina O’Connell.” The curator was inside the train, he turned and walked up to Meela, he then sat down as a man brought in the Black Book of the Dead, the curator took it off of him then handed it to Meela, who stared down at it. “Keep this with you always.” Soon Lock-Nah came in carrying the twins, the Curator and Meela turned to look at him, Meela stood up as Lock-Nah put the twins down, she walked up to Alex and knelt before them, she put her hands on their heads and said, “What a bright little children. Your mother must be missing you both terribly. If you wish to see her again, you’d better behave.” Lock-Nah pulled them back and Meela took them by the chin, causing Abigail to glare at her. “Lady, we don’t behave for our parents, what makes you think we’re going to do it for you?” Meela looked to the young girl and instantly saw Eva in her causing Meela to tighten her grip forcing Abigail to squirm uncomfortable as she still held her glare and even managed to dislodge Meela, she moved in front of Alex who looked at his twin. Meela smirked and said, “Because your parents wouldn’t slip poisonous snakes in your bed, when you are sleeping.” This caused the twins to gulp then glance at each other as she kissed their foreheads.

The curator walked in and looked down at the children, “Lord Imhotep wishes to meet them.”  Lock-Nah smirked as he pushed the twins through the coach and out of the end, Meela turned as the three men came in carrying a chest. As they spoke, Abigail kept a tight hold of her brother’s hand and wished to know what they were going to see. As the door opened, Lock-Nah brought in the twins and pushed them forward. “Get in there.” Abigail glared up at the man then turned to face the presence in the room, Imhotep turned around at the other end of the train coach, wearing a black mask, he saw the twins and Lock-Nah. He walked up to the twins, who looked at him, “'aelam 'anak tastatie 'an tafhamani 'ayuha alsaghira. lidhalik yajib ealayk aliastimae bieinaya because it is you who are the chosen one, you who will take me Arm Shere.” Lock-Nah suddenly looked scared, Imhotep was about to wave a hand when Abigail stepped in front of her brother and even though she was terrified, she held fast. Imhotep looked at the young child; he then knelt before the twins and placed a hand on her head, causing her to look at him confused. He then gently took hold of Alex’s hand and pushed back his sleeves, revealing the bracelet.

Alex looked up at Imhotep and said, “And if I don’t? What if I get a little lost?” Behind his mask, Imhotep smiled, he then stood up and walked over to a chair that he sat down in, he looked at the twins, “You have strength little one. You are your father’s son but I know something you don’t. This bracelet is a gift and a curse. The sands of time have already begun to pour against you.” Imhotep picked up the glass and turned it over, he stood it down and Abigail looked at it in confusion. Alex stood in front of his sister and looked at the man sitting down, “Yeah, yeah, I already this part that the minute I put the bracelet on, seven days do I have before the scorpion King wakes up.” Abigail rolled her eyes and moved to stand in front of her brother, causing Imhotep to remember when Sekhmet used to do the same thing with Nefertiri, one sister always protected the other. Imhotep then moved to kneel before the twins again causing them to take a step backward. “Did you also know that if you do not enter the pyramid before the sun rises on that very morning, that the bracelet will suck the life out of you.” This caused their eyes to widen as they looked at each other and realized that if that were true then he only had five days left of life. “That bit we missed. Hey wait a minute! That means I’ve only got five days left.”

Imhotep looked between the twins and could instantly tell which parent they resembled most as Alex looked and acted like Rick while Abigail looked and acted like her mother, the one who Imhotep longed to reunite with. “Then I believe it would be best for you if you don’t get lost, don’t you?” At hearing this, Abigail glared at him while Alex threatened him but both were horrified when Imhotep took off his mask and looked at the twins, “I do not think so.” With a wave of his hand, Lock-Nah stood up and took the twins out of the room, in another room, Meela entered with the three men allowing them to look around and not notice when she shut the door and locked it behind her. “Don’t worry, there is much satisfaction to be had.” As a wind blew through the coach, the three men raised their guns, they screamed as Imhotep jumped into the view causing them to fire upon him, but he kept coming, Meela looked through the door opening and said, “He wants to open the chest. Open the chest.” As one of the men opened the chest, the men looked around for Imhotep but were unable to see him, they saw a table with tools and canopic jars then Imhotep appeared above one of the men, he circled him then dropped down in front of him.

Imhotep grabbed hold of the man causing him to scream as Imhotep sucked him dry, the other two men screamed and fired their guns causing Imhotep to smirk, in a camp, Rick, Jonathan, Evie and Eva got out of their car and walked forward, Eva placed a hand on her stomach and felt the need to be sick. No one noticed until her legs gave out on her, causing her to tumble to the ground, when she opened her eyes she was once again in the mindscape and was lying by a fountain, using it to help her stand, she looked down at her clothing and was pleasantly surprised when she was wearing normal clothing, but found she missed wearing Sekhmet’s clothing.

Looking around she found herself to be alone causing her to wonder why she had entered the mindscape if not for something calling her there, gently she shook her head then sat on the fountain, she looked down at her hands then wondered how going to the mindscape was affecting her unborn child. Looking around she wondered if she was alone and if Imhotep wasn’t in the mindscape with her and if he wasn’t there then she wanted to know where was Sekhmet and if she was in the mindscape as well. “'iimhutib? sakhamta? hal 'ant hunaka? hal 'ana huna wahadi?” But the moment she spoke, a figure appeared before her, causing her to get to her feet and hide behind the fountain, she blinked as Imhotep stood there and called out to her also wondering if he was alone. She didn’t even think, she came out of her hiding place and with him watching her; she ran up to him and threw her arms around him. They hugged, they seemed to melt into each other, they closed their ears to the noise and every worry and fear seemed to fade away. As they tightened the hug, one of Imhotep’s hands entangled itself in her hair while the other rested on her lower back, when they did finally loosen the hug; they still held each other in their arms. Eva looked up at him and said, “min fadlik 'akhbirni 'ana 'atfali amnun.”

At hearing this, Imhotep looked down at her then nuzzled her neck and whispered in her ear, “ma damuu bijanibi falan yusibahum 'ayu makruhin.” Blinking Eva came to the realization that even though the twins were not his children, he would always protect them due to the fact that they were her children, causing her to smile. Eva smiled, just a little smile at first, but as it grew it pressed her rosy cheeks up and slowly revealed her teeth, like a perfect pearl necklace. Finally the smile reached her eyes, lightning them, causing them to crinkle at the corners, in that moment she was everything Imhotep had ever hoped for. She was everything Imhotep would ever need. Such a smile caused his lips to meet her own, the love and tenderness this caused her eyes to flutter close. He caressed her other cheek with his other hand. His tongue slid into her mouth gently, dancing with hers. Her arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer. One hand moved to rest on her hip. She moved to break away but he pulled her back, the hand that was on her cheek tangling in her hair and holding her there. Her heart fluttered. He broke the kiss to look into her eyes, his forehead on hers. A red tint decorated her cheeks.

Unbeknownst to them, the area around them changed to Imhotep and Sekhmet’s chambers, where Eva found her back against the wall, Imhotep’s left hand found its place on her throat and turned her head to the side so he could pepper her neck with kisses. With a few tugs, they were free of their clothing. But when he tried to kiss her, she pulled away and gently stroked Imhotep’s bottom lip with a thumb causing him to lightly bite it in response, causing her to gasp and grabbed his member firmly, she peeked up at his face in response and she felt his head rest on her left shoulder. Ever so slowly he pushed into her. She moaned, a low and throaty move as she could feel him enter her fully, she stayed still for a moment as she enjoyed the sensation of the two of them becoming one. Imhotep took advantage of this and lifted both of her legs to wrap around his waist. Once she was safely secured, he moved a hand to her hip and the other was the other was tangled in her hair and he finally thrusted inside her.

Obscene noises were leaving her mouth with every thrust as his hips met her own; her hands were braced on his shoulders and then wrapped around his neck to keep him close. Unconsciously she dug her nails in his shoulders harshly enough to draw a low groan from Imhotep’s lips. Her mouth hung open slightly and Imhotep took it as an opportunity to capture her mouth with his own again, stealing her breath in the process. However Imhotep slammed into her while he held her hips in place, Eva found herself moaning again and again at his quickened pace until finally, she felt her vision blacken and her whole-body light up with a warm pleasure from her orgasm. Imhotep was right behind her, finishing with a grunt himself. As the two stayed like that, their foreheads rested against each other, the two breathed in each other’s scent and held each other close as neither wished to part but fate seemed to have other ideas. As Eva’s eyes widened as she found them opening with her lying in a gondola with a balloon above it, she blinked as she found herself out of the mindscape and back with her family.

But when her eyes landed on her husband, guilt and regret consumed her, her eyes burned as sudden realization of the terrible thing that had just occurred struck. Helpless, hopeless tears began to fall freely while her entire face scrunched up with pain and anguish. Quickly wiping them away, she placed a hand on the side of the gondola and stood up, wincing at her sore legs, she wondered just where they were. When she turned to look at her family, she found them all staring at her, causing her to smile and give them a thumbs up, but Rick walked up to her and pulled her into an embrace. They hugged, they seemed to melt into each other, they closed their ears to the noise and every worry and fear seemed to fade away. As they loosened their hug to look at each other, they closed their eyes and rested their foreheads against each others. Pulling away from him, she looked around and said, “Where’s Evie? Rick, where is my sister?” As she began to become frantic, Jonathan walked up to her and placed his hands on her shoulders, this caused her to look at her elder brother, “Evie is with Ardeth. She is safe.”

At this she finally calmed down and looked over the edge of the gondola and sighed, as she leaned against it, she knew Rick and Jonathan had exchanged a look but she didn’t care, “I’m pregnant.” At those words the three men turned to stare at her with Rick being furious that she would risk herself and the baby going on such a journey. As Rick was about to yell at her, she heard something and held up a hand only for a hawk to fly toward her, holding out an arm, the hawk carefully landing on it. Bringing it closer to her, the hawk nuzzled her cheek causing her to smile, with a flourish of her hand; the hawk flew off leaving Eva with her furious husband and an overwhelming sense of guilt. Turning to face them, she could see just how furious Rick was, she didn’t flinch when he stepped toward her and got into her face, “What were you thinking? Why didn’t you tell me, you were pregnant?” At this Eva rolled her eyes and turned to face the open air, closing her eyes, she what her sister was up to and if her children were truly safe, suddenly she was roughly turned around causing her to glare up at Rick who was still waiting for an answer. “I was thinking I am here to save my children and I would have told you if Alex and Abigail weren’t kidnapped. Why are we in a gondola anyway?”

Pushing him aside, she walked to another side of the gondola, Rick was annoyed with her response but suddenly felt like she was pulling away from him and he was unsure of how to confront her about it. Izzy looked away from what he was previously looking at and looked to Eva and said, “She’s faster than she looks, she’s quiet, really quiet, great for sneaking up on people, which is a very good thing.” Rick nodded but Eva was annoyed and looked at how far above the ground they were and she knew it wouldn’t make it easy to spot their children and the people who had kidnapped them, glancing at Izzy she said “What can’t you people ever keep your feet on the ground?” As Rick walked up to Eva, he attempted to put his arms around her but she walked away from him causing him to want to say something but she merely said, “I want them back. I want them in my arms.”

"I know. We taught them well, they are smarter than you, they are tougher than me.” Once again Rick tried to get close to her but she merely folded her arms and leaned against railing causing him to sigh and wonder just why she was acting this way. Leaning against the railing, he looked at her and saw the glassy look in her eye and wonder just what was happening with her and if she was about to faint again but he felt like he knew the signs and this was different. “We both love them. The kids know that. I’ll get them back Eva, I promise.” Glancing at him, Eva knew he shouldn’t have promised that as no one knew if they would be able to save them in time, looking at the sky, she blinked and said, “You can’t promise that.” Rick instantly became annoyed and glared at her but before he could say anything, a single tear flowed down her cheek causing her to hastily wipe it away. Elsewhere a train was silhouetted against the sky and was travelling through the desert, inside one of the many cabins, Lock-nah and the twins were sitting at a table with Abigail keeping quiet and Alex annoying Lock-nah, the conversation went on for a while until Lock-nah got angry and he tried to stab Alex’s hand with a knife but missing in between the fingers.

“That was amazing.” While Alex was amazed, Abigail was horrified at what had happened, as she glared at Lock-nah, he looked to Alex and said, “What are you talking about, I missed.” This caused the twins to look at each other then Abigail looked at where she knew Imhotep would be, in the dark coach, Meela walked in, stepping around the bodies and got close to the man, only for him to be a fully regenerated Imhotep. Meela smiled up at him but he glared down at her and walked around her, purposely bumping into her shoulder, knocking her to the ground. From the ground, Meela looked up and watched Imhotep walk away, she was confused as to why he wasn’t falling in love with her. With the twins, Alex was once again annoying Lock-nah, who was about to lash out again only for Abigail to cover for him by saying, “We need to go to the bathroom.” At this Lock-nah stood up and dragged both of the twins to a dirty little room, he opened the door and pushed both of them in. Lock-nah stood at the door with his arms folded and looked down at the twins, “Make it quick.” At this Alex found an old magazine and picked it up causing Lock-nah to shout at him, causing the twins to glare at him and for Abigail to say, “Neither of us can go when someone is watching. We don’t trust you. You’ll look.”

At this Lock-nah gave her a disgusted look and walked out of the room to let them use the bathroom while slamming the door, as soon as the door was closed the twins tried to break the bars on the window and then Alex decided to use the toilet, when he lifted the lid of the toilet, he was disgusted and said, “Oh my god, doesn’t anyone round here know how to flush a toilet.” But before he could use the toilet, Abigail had an idea and thankfully Alex had the same idea, together they pulled the toilet out of the way. They looked at each other then down at where the toilet had been and they had a better look as the ground raced past, Alex pulled the communication cord causing the engine driver to slam on the brakes causing sparks to fly from the wheels as the brakes stopped the train. Thankfully the train had pulled up outside of Karnak, Imhotep and Meela were thrown forward causing Imhotep to look out the window. “altaw'amani.” While the twins were running for their lives, men were firing at them, causing the twins to dodge the bullets and ran into Karnak, back at the train, both the Curator and Lock-nah were looking out the window.

The door slid open and Imhotep and Meela were standing there watching as the twins were dodging bullets, Meela was smirking while Imhotep was horrified as he promised to protect the twins. Imhotep then raised his arms causing the men on top of the train to raise up into the air, they were knocked into each other and then were sent crashing into the pillars of Karnak. Imhotep then waved his hand “Karnak.” As the twins were running through the pillars into Karnak, the bracelet chose that moment to cause them to halt as it showed them more visions of the journey over the desert to an island, a man walked through the pool as the picture faded, Imhotep walked up to the twins as Alex hide Abigail behind him but Imhotep knelt before them and wagged a finger at them before standing. “hayaa ya 'atfali, laqad waeadt 'umukum bi'an 'uhafiz ealaa salamatikum.” This caused the twins eyes to widen as they looked at each other then at the man before them, he motioned with a hand for them to follow him and after a quick non-verbal conversation between the two, they followed him back to the train. Back in the gondola, it had momentarily landed to collect Ardeth and Evie, and then was in the air again, Horus then landed on Ardeth’s hand, while Rick was fiddling with a knife. As the two argued, Evie and Eva were at the end of the balloon gondola, they then suddenly heard a voice. “laqad han alwaqt litadhkirik bimin 'anti.” Eva briefly closed her eyes and was able to briefly see what Imhotep was doing, and saw a black pool with Imotep and Meela kneeling beside it, he cleared the pool and a vision appeared of ancient Egypt.

In the ancient past, Seti and Imhotep were watching three women in gold masks to start a fight and when the gong was sounded, the three began to sai fight; one knocked the other one down and continued to fight the other, before she was kicked to the ground, causing her to skid to a stop and for their sais to go flying. One of the two on the floor lifted her mask, causing the other two to lift their masks; Anck-su-Namun looked down at them causing Sekhme to glare up at her, “artd qinaeaka. la tushwwh wjhak aljamila.” At this the two jumped to their feet then back flipped to the wall where they pulled the sais out of it, Sekhmet twirled them around in her hands before the fighting continued, but it was finished when Anck-su-Namun knocked Nefertiri to the ground with her kneeling over Nefertiri, “ant tataealamin bisureat ya nafrtiri. ely 'an 'uraqib zahri.” But Anck-su-Namun had forgotten about Sekhmet who surprised and shocked her when she placed a sai on her thought then throw her over her shoulder, “naeam wasawf 'ushahid khasati.” At this Anck-su-Namun glared at the twins, Sekhmet stood before her sister then helped her to her feet, once again she twirled the sais in her hands. The fight was halted however when Pharaoh Seti I walked down the steps and called out, “ahsnti, ahsnti, man 'uqdir ealaa himayat swar 'anubis min abnty alhabibtayn, sakhimat wanifirtiri. waman 'aqdir ealaa himayati min zawjatay almustaqbaliati, 'anksunamun.”

As he said this, a soldier showed the gathered crowd the bracelet in a chest, as their father waled up to them, the twins bowed but Seti smiled at them and hugged them both, “'ahsant ya banati.” The two smiled as they returned the hug but looked over his shoulders to watch Anck-su-Namun as Imhotep walked past her and they gazed at each other, this caused Anck-su-Namun to look at them and smirk. Later on that day, in the room Sekhmet shared with her husband, the two sisters walked onto the balcony and smiled down at the medjai, the two saw Anck-su-Namun walk onto the balcony from across the palace courtyard where they saw her and Imhotep kiss. This caused Nefertiri to become hurt and for Sekhmet to become heartbroken and place a hand over her stomach, suddenly their father walked in causing Imhote to hide. Both sisters were horrified as they watched their father being stabbed by the pair, thinking fast Sekhmet looked down at the courtyard and saw her faithful Medjai. “Midjay!” The medjai looked up at her, “waliduna yahtajuki!” Sekhmet pointed to her father’s chambers causing the medjai, but Nefertiri leaned too far forward and fell over the balcony back in the present, Evie tumbled out of the balloon screaming, while Eva remained locked in the past, Rick and the others ran to grab her and tried to bring her back in.

Back in the past, Imhotep was taking away and Anck-su-Namun stabbed herself with Meela doing the same thing in the present, Imhotep began reading out of the Black Book, water from the pool rose up and floated over and covered Meela, causing her to wake up. The two looked at each other “Imotep?” As she tried to stroke his face, he stood up and walked off, leaving her distraught Meela behind, back in the balloon, while Evie was saved, Eva snapped out of her trance to check on her sister. Rick looked between the two and instantly was able to sense that something was wrong with his wife and that was what was worrying him but he turned his attention back to Evie, “Evie, I know you haven’t exactly been yourself lately with all these dreams and visions.” “No, no. They’re memories from my previous life. Honestly I’m not losing my mind, it makes perfect sense now. Eva was there as well.” This caused everyone to look at Eva who had walked away and was staring up at the sky until she felt everyone staring at her, causing her to turn to look at them and sigh, “And that’s the reason we found the bracelet.” Eva blinked at her husband then exchanged a look with her sister who nodded but Rick was becoming annoyed that the two were having a silent conversation that allowed the two seemed to come to the same conclusion and to turn to Rick and say in perfect unison. “Exactly, we were its protector.”

Ardeth smiled at what he was hearing causing everyone to become curious as to what he was thinking, “Now do you believe my friend, clearly you were destined to protect these women.” As the two men spoke, Eva walked to the end of the gondola and held out a hand as if she was grabbing hold of one causing everyone to stop talking and become confused at her actions. At Karnak, camels finally arrived at the location and all of the people were camped there, to prevent the twins from running off, each had a chain attached to one of their ankles.  Seeing this Lock-nah grabbed the twins, “Don’t even think about it. When the time comes, I shall truly enjoy killing you.” The twins glared up at him causing him to glare at her, “Hold it there partner! Until that time, you’d better be a little nicer to us, now where’s our water. No ice.” Lock-nah slung the water at Alex, and walked off, the twins nodded and poured the water into the sand and started to mould it, later on the gondola landed in Karnak, two figures raced across the sand, the train was in the background, they raced onto the train, the door opened and Ardeth pointed the gun but the train was empty. Rick did the same at the open truck, Ardeth got off and watched as Eva was looking around Karnak, she spotted something and ran over to it.

Picking up a tie, everyone ran over to her, Eva knelt in the sand and found a sandcastle, Rick knelt beside her, “Alex left us his tie, they made us a little sandcastle. It’s the temple of Aida Philai.” They ran out and looked at the sandcastle but later on the gondola landed on the island, and found Abigail’s coat in the sand, as it was taken off it revealed another sandcastle. “The great temple of Abu Simbal.” Ardeth rolled up a piece of paper and attached it to Horus’s leg, he then released him and he flew into the air, at Abu Simbal, the balloon landed and Horus flew across the desert where it saw camels riding across the sand. Imhotep and Meela were on camels and Alex and Abigail were seated on Imhotep’s camel while reading, while Meela was glaring at the twins, Horus landed on the hand of one of the Medjai who handed the note to the leader, the men moved off to reveal thousands of other men that started to ride across the desert. As the balloon flew past a waterfall, Rick looked at it then looked at his wife, “That’s the Blue Nile down there, must be out of Egypt by now.” “In ancient times, all this belonged to the Upper Kingdom. The oasis must be around here somewhere.” This caused Rick to look at her more closely and saw her tightly holding onto her arms but when Rick tried to console her, she shrugged him off and walked to the other end of the gondola to stand by Evie. “Don’t worry, we’ll find them. They are smart kids, they’ll leave us a sign.” When Eva looked out into the area around them, she saw Imhotep as the balloon flew through the rocks, Alex and Abigail were building another sandcastle. Suddenly a foot flattened it, causing them to look up at Lock-nah, who picked them up and shook them. “qufla-la, daehum.”

Lock-nah obeyed him and put the twins down, Imhotep was standing in the water and looked over his shoulder at the twins, “'atamanaa 'an yakun waliduk qad astamtie bialrihlati.” Imhotep raised his hands, the water was raised up into a wall, causing Meela and the Curator to stumble backward, Imhotep threw his arms forward causing the water to move. Seeing this, Eva placed her hands on railing and called out, “'iimhutib! qif! 'ana fi alkhariji!” Izzy was at the wheel of the balloon, all of them were listening until Izzy turned around and saw the water coming toward them. “We’re in trouble.” The moment Imhotep heard Eva’s voice, his eyes widened, which showed as his face appeared in the water, on the gondola Ardeth let go of Horus, “Horus up.” Imhotep opened his mouth and the balloon went into the mouth in the water but as Izzy started up the engines, they all lost their balance as the balloon raced forward and began racing through the rocks, the water was following the balloon with a large tendril shooting forward to try and grab hold of Eva. Who was pulled out of the way by Rick, as the balloon surged forward, they all lost their balance again as the water came over them, as they all got up.

Izzy climbed over the wheel, Jonathan was looking in the opposite direction. “Something someone forgot to mention, hmmm.” The balloon flew through the gap and the oasis appeared before them but suddenly a water tendril appeared out of nowhere and dragged Eva out of the gondola and before anyone could do anything she was dragged back the way it came. With her hands on the water tendril Eva glared at Imhotep for doing such a thing, gently she was deposited in the shallow water. As she stood in the water, everyone stared at her, but before anyone could do anything, her children ran up to her, they hugged, they seemed to melt into each other, they closed their ears to the noise and every worry and fear seemed to fade away. As they loosened their hug to look at each other, they closed their eyes and rested their foreheads against each others. Letting go of her children, she looked behind her and watched as Imhotep caused the balloon to crash causing her to hug her children closer to her, “Dad.” The four of them stood in the now empty river, Imhotep stayed in the river but Eva with her children began to walk out of it, as she passed him, Imhotep patted Alex on the head and pulled away to walk out of the river.

With the wreck of the balloon, and all of them were trying to rescue stuff out of it by passing it to each other, all the while worrying about Eva. “We’re gonna get my wife and my children and we’re gonna want to get out of here fast. So make this thing work Izzy.” “No, this thing is filled with gas, not hot air, gas, to get this thing off the ground, where am I going to get gas from. Maybe I could use hot air but you know how many cubic meters I’d need, it’s too big.” “Well if anyone can fill this thing up with hot air-it’s you.” John picked up the stick and put it in his jacket, Horus flew into the air, taking with him a message, and the group walked into the jungle, with Izzy looking at the damage. “So Rick what’s the plan? ” “Let’s find some higher ground.” Suddenly the group heard a shot ring out, Ardeth swung around and ran back, he was shocked at the loss of Horus, “Horus! I must go. I must let the commanders know where we are. If the army of Anubis rises.” “I need you to help find my wife and my children.” “Then first I shall help you.” “Thank you.” Then ran back into the jungle, day soon turned to night with Eva and the children staying close to Imhotep who wouldn’t let anyone near them and had even covered Eva with his robes causing her to smile a small smile. This caused the others and the children to become confused as to why he was treating her differently, as they were walking through the jungle they saw shadows in the trees.

Soon they came across bodies of men that seemed to have been there for decades, seeing this caused Eva to shield her children from the sight. “Look, roman legionnaires and here. Turn of the century French, Napoleons men.” “ What is the name of Anubis did this?” With Rick and the others, “You hear that?” “What?” Jonathan looked at the heads in the tree and become curious at how they were done. “Nothing, absolutely nothing.” “My word. I say chaps look at this. The heads, I’d love to know how they did that. Just curious.” The others gave him a dirty looked as he picked up his gun and bantered with Ardeth who pinned Jonathan with his sword at his throat. “We’ll know soon enough. The only way to kill an Abubis warrior is by taking off his head.” Rick was showing Evie how to use one of the guns. Back with Imhotep and his group, they were still walking in the jungle when they saw the gold pyramid in the darkness, causing Eva to freeze and tighten her hold on her children “Now may I kill him?” “My Lord, now there is no need for the boy.” As Lock-nah began to advance, Eva hid her children behind her and glare at both the Curator and Lock-nah, “You’ll have to kill me first.”

As a sword was pointed at her, she took a step backward and passed Imhotep who was looking at her with a quirk eyebrow and spoke, “nahn bihajat 'iilaa alsiwar, fahu sawf yaftah jaysh 'anubis.” He hoped this would stop the others from wanting to kill the twins as he had promised they would be safe but the curator had other plans and turned to Lock-nah. “The bracelet. The Bracelet is the key. Retrieve that bracelet.” “With pleasure.” As Lock-nah advanced toward them, Eva pushed her children bad and motioned for them to run, she was about to run when Imhotep grabbed hold of her arm causing her to glare at him and watch as Lock-nah was about to run after her children. As the group continued walking they suddenly stopped and Meela looked at Imhotep, “What is it?” They all looked around them for the sound of the noises which was coming from the trees that were close to them, as the others moved off; Eva looked up at Imhotep who had let go of her. She suddenly knew that whatever was making those noises couldn’t attack him but could harm her children, as the others moved off with men peering into bushes, lightning flashes. As the men got closer, a pygmy mummy jumped out, a battle ensued between them all and the pygmes began to kill most of them, there a gun battle between them and Rick and Evie. Then Ardeth began to fight Lock-nah and sliced off his head.

Jonathan then shot one of the men as he tried to sneak up on Ardeth from behind, Ardeth saw who saved his life and nodded before he disappeared leaving Lock-nah lying on the ground, the curator was running through the jungle followed by two men, they stop and look around, the curator began to run away leaving the two men there, Rick then reunited with his children, and hugged them. Eva then ran through the jungle and ran into Evie, who hugged her sisters, the children rushed to their mother who smiled down at them but Alex began pulling them. “Come on mum, dad. We have to get to the pyramid, we have to get the bracelet off now.” “Leave it on Alex, looks good on you.” “No you guys, you don’t understand. He told me the bracelet will kill me if I don’t get inside the pyramid before the sun-today.” “Shit!” Suddenly they heard noises in the bushed behind them causing them to turn at it, then the group minus Jonathan, ran ahead, with Jonathan running when he saw that they were being chased by the pygmies swinging on the vines. But Jonathan went a different way and bumped into one of the curator’s men, they carry on running then stop, as they came across an apparate sacred ground but that got the curator’s man killed and for Jonathan to finally catch up to his family. Rick then threw dynamite at the Pygmies who played with it and then it blow up a log with them on top of it.

Eva looked behind them and called for Rick to get Alex to the pyramid, seeing this Rick grabbed Alex and they ran toward the pyramid, Alex tripped and Rick picked him up and the sun continued rising causing Rick to sprint with Alex to the entrance of the pyramid, the suns line followed right at his heels. Two lines of Anubis statues as the sun and the father and son raced against each other, as the sun hit the top and it traveled down to the ground. The duo flew through the air and hit the ground, gasping for breath. Then the bracelet opened and Alex threw it across the floor, it rolled across the sand before coming to a standstill, allowing Rick and Alex to hug each other.  Soon the family ran up and smiled, “They made it, thank God.” Suddenly Meela walked past Jonathan and stabbed Evie in the stomach causing Eva’s eyes to widen and watch as Jonathan was thrown across the sand by Imotep, Evie fell into Eva’s eyes allowing them to fall to the ground. Rick ran out of the pyramid and Meela walked away, cuddling her sister close to her, Alex and Abigail run up behind them, Imhotep looked down at the scene and for the first time in thousands of years, he felt Sekhmet’s rage.

As if the oasis could sense her rage, everything began to shake and stones between to crumble as Eva glared up at him and Meela who stood beside him with a smile, Eva was forced to watch as the two walked into the pyramid with Meela smugly waving at them. Due to her rage and shock, she was numb to whatever was happening around her, and was unable to hear what the others were saying but as her sister died in her arms; Jonathan hugged the twins who were shocked they had just lost their aunt. As they grieving the curator snuck up to the pyramid and picked up the bracelet and ran deeper into the pyramid with it, in the pyramid, Imhotep and Meela walked down the stairs, there was a scorpion design on the floor, Imhotep stepped on it and black shadows engulfed him. He was left shocked, he tried to use his powers but the gold ornament before him rattled but nothing else happened. Turning to Meela, he looked down at his hands and said, “laqad 'akhadh al'iilah aleazim 'anubis sultati; wayabdu 'anah yuriduni 'an 'uqatil ka'iinsanin.”

Outside the pyramid, Jonathan had pulled Eva away from Evie, Rick hugged her then hugged his children as Jonathan held Evie’s hand, suddenly Rick stood up and walked back into the pyramid. “Stay here.” This seemed to snap Eva out of her trance and she looked to Rick, who was furious at what had happened to Evie but Eva knew that if Ardeth knew then he would be heartbroken, inside the pyramid the curator was in another part of the pyramid, he had put on the bracelet and was going to the room with the scorpions on the floor he used the bracelet to move them out of the way. He saw an enormous door with a giant scorpion on it and walked up to it, he put his arm and the bracelet into the hole in the middle and screamed as the whole place lit up. Rick came in as the rooms changed, outside in front of the pyramid, shadows of a scorpion flew over it then to desert as the same shadows went over ,it got bigger and passed closer to the rows of horses and sank into the sand. Ardeth was leading the horses and raised his hand to stop them, “So it begins.” Back to the family sitting by a statue, Abigail was cuddled up to her mother while her uncle and brother spoke until Alex got an idea. Suddenly Alex jumped up, pulling Jonathan up as well, back to the curator trying to get his hand out of the hole, he looked back and saw Rick. “You’re too late O’Connell, I have released the army of Anubis, Lord Imhotep shall soon kill the Scorpion King and take command.” “Now when I get through with him.”

Rick got a double sided axe and turned to the curator, who screamed again causing Rick to jump then to the curator as he took out his hand to reveal only bones were left. Imhotep and Meela reached the doorway.  “yajib 'an 'uwajih mulik aleaqarib wahdi.” He took off his robes, but Meela wouldn’t let him go. “la! la yajib ealayk dhalika!” The two looked at each other with Imhotep wanting to die for causing Eva so much pain. “bidun qiwak sawf yaqtiliku!” Imotep grabbed hold of the Black Book and looked down at it, remembering what he had done to Evangelina all those years ago. “lan tusamihani 'iifanjilina abdan ealaa altasabub fi wafat 'ukhtiha.” Meela snatched the book back and put it on the stone slab, she then turned to face him and say, “'iifanjilina? 'iifanjilina! al'amr dayman yataealaq bi'iifanjilina allaeinati! madha eani?” At her outburst Imotep quirked an eyebrow, and while she was insulting Evangelina, he took hold of her neck and slammed her onto the stone slab next to the book. “hi zawjati. ant la shay' bialnisbat lay. ahdrtk faqat lihimayat zawjati.” Letting go of her, he ran through the door, elsewhere, the twins were with Jonathan and Eva, Jonathan was carrying Evie, the four of them were walking through a passage and walked up to a wall, Abigail shone a torch near the wall.

“You realise of course this can only be done by someone who can actually read ancient Egyptian. I don’t know about you, but I’m a bit rusty. Now where?” “We go right?” At this Jonathan looked at his younger sister confused until he remembered what had happened to her and who he was speaking to. In the desert Ardeth is on his hore and saw hundreds of black mounds raising up and change into jackals of Anubis’s army. In the pyramid, Meela turned as Jonathan came in, she walked toward him as Eva stole the Black book. “It’s time someone taught you a lesson wench-this is for my sister.” Rick walked into a room where Imotep was banging on an enormous gong, Rick charged at him through the flames from the torches, “'iidha ardt qatli, faqtulh wa'arsal jayshah 'iilaa alealam alsufli. hadha la 'asmah bihi.” The place began to shake and Rick nearly fell into the pit of souls, he then attack Imhotep. In the desert, Ardeth was riding across it in front of his men, the army of Anubis were marching toward them.

With Imhotep and Rick, the two were still fighting while back in the desert, Ardeth raised his sword, causing is men to do the same, back to Rick and Imhotep, who were still fighting, elsewhere Jonathan and Meela were still fighting, “Is that all you’ve got?” Back in the desert, Ardeth and his men started to charge toward the army of Anubis causing the army to charge as well, thus beginning the battle between them. Back to Meela and Jonathan as she grabbed two sais, causing Jonathan to glance over his shoulder and at his younger sister who could easily fight Meela but Jonathan wanted to take revenge for Evie. “Hurry up, Eva.” Eva had opened the book and was reading it while her children huddled near her, back to Imhotep and Rick as they were still fighting, in the desert, Ardeth rode into the battle and threw his sword causing it to destroy one of the jackals and he grabbed it out of the sand. Back to Rick and Imotep, both were swinging axes around and knocking over pots of fire. Back to the Medjai battle, Ardeth was knocked off of his horse by one the jackals, in the pyramid, Jonathan and Meela were still fighting, as Eva finished the spell, a golden glow appeared in front of her and Evie was resurrected.

Back to Rick and Imhotep as the ground began to shake, back to Meela as she used her sai to cut open the sleeve of Jonathan’s coat, as she went to stab him again, a hand grabbed hold of her arm, while her other arm was grabbed by Eva, who glared at her. “Why don’t you pick on someone your own size? Take the twins and go and help Rick.” Jonathan and the twins got out of the way, the three looked at each, Eva and Evie grabbed two sais off of the wall, Jonathan and the twins ran off to find Rick. Back with Rick and Imotep, both had their axes grinding against each other in front of big gold doors but they heard a roar that caused them to freeze and look at the doors. The doors opened causing the two to push away from each other and for Imhotep to jump onto a different ledge while Rick was left holding the weapons. The Scorpion King a half man-half scorpion being walked off, he looked at the both of them then went after Imhotep who quickly fell to his knees. “'ana khadimuka, walakinah 'ursl liaqtilika.” The scorpion king turned to glare at Rick then began chasing him, knocking things over and trying to catch him. Back to the trio of women, the twins glared at Meela, and the they continued the fight as they had over three thousand years ago.

Meela knocked Eva to the ground causing her to skid and pushed Evie against the wall causing Evie to headbutt her nose, they three continued fighting until Meela was one again hit in the nose causing her to drop her sais and run off, causing the twins to chase after her. Inside the room with the curator stumbling into the room and saw Rick running toward him with the Scorpion King behind him. The Scorpion King missed Rick but grabbed the Curator. “Help me! Imhotep! Save me!” “limadha?” He was torn apart by the Scorpin King, in the desert Ardeth and his men were fighting, they destroyed the last one of the jackals and rejoiced but Ardeth looked around and then ran through his men to the top of the dune. The confused men followed him, on a distant dune a black mass was descending on them it was the army of Anubis again. “God help us.” Rick ran then stopped as he found a mural on the wall, he looked at the mural and saw his tattoo on one of them , he tore off his cuff and compared the tattoo and the mural, he then saw the stick that Jonathan had been carrying, being turned into a spear. “Okay. Now I’m a believer.” Jonathan and the twins finally arrived; Rick heard them and came into view.

“Rick!” Rick tried to tell them that the stick was a spear. “Jonathan! It’s a spear! That gold stick thing! It’s a spear! It opens up into a spear! It opens up into a spear!” He stopped speaking when he heard something, he turned to see the Scorpion King behind him, causing it to begin to chase him again. The trio screamed again and moved. Back in the desert, as the army advanced, Ardeth looked to the left and then to the right along the line of men, he raised his sword. “Till death!” His men shout with him. Back in the pyramid, the twins were chasing Meela, where they arrived in the Scorpion King room, the twins saw Rick being flung across the room by the Scorpion King. Rick looked up from his spot and was shocked to see Evie was alive, he then moved out of the way of the way as the Scorpion King tried to get him. Alex and Jonathan tried to open the stick, Imhotep came up them causing them to back off, Meela, Eva and Evie were still fighting, Rick and the Scorpion King battled on. Ardeth and his men got ready to die as the army advanced. Suddenly Eva shook her head and ran over to her brother and children, she took the stick off of them and with her knowledge of it, she quickly opened it into a spear, causing the twins to blink and for Jonathan to try and claim he had it. Meela tried to stop Evie while Imhotep began to stalk toward Eva and her family, Eva threw the spear at the Scorpion King but Imhotep caught it and aimed it at the Scorpion King. “jaysh 'anubis sayakun li alan.”

He threw it but as it went through the flames, Rick leapt forward and caught it, causing Imhotep to scream in anger. Back in the desert the army was still going toward Ardeth and his men. In the pyramid, Rick rolled with the spear and turned just as the Scorpion King jumped at him, the spear stabbed him through the chest. “Go to hell and take your friends with you!” In the desert the army was bearing down on Ardeth while in the pyramid the Scorpion King dissolved into Black Sand, at the same time the army reached Ardeth and his men, it swept over them as black sand. The men stood up and realized their battler was over, Ardeth raised his hands to the sky to praise god, back in the pyramid, black sand shot out from it, and the sand swirled around and the Scorpion King’s face appeared in the sand causing Ardeth to push past his men to see what was going on. He stood and watched as Ahm Shere was about to destroy itself, the sand went back into the pyramid and it started to fall in on itself. The whole place was collapsing, Rick and Imhotep had fallen over the edge of the pit and were holding on by their fingers. “DAD!” As they tried to pull themselves up, the souls tried to pull them down, as Eva was about to run toward them, Rick yelled at her to get away but she risked the rocks of the falling pyramid to rescue Rick.

Eva pulled Rick back and he ushered them back to safety but then Meela ran off, but Eva then remembered the promise and knew with her own heart she could not let Imhotep die again, as she was about to rush in, Rick wrapped his arms around her waist and was about to drag her away when she yelled. “Anitilaunnga!” Throwing her head back, it hit him square in the nose allowing her to drop to her knees and once again risk the rocks with Imotep begging her to leave but she shook her head and threw herself on the ground to grab hold of him and was fighting against the souls, she said. “I made a promise.” As she continued to struggle, she felt something channelling within her and glared at the souls “Anitilauruk! I-piruun sikmat iijippimiutatuqaq- tilisivunga!” While she was speaking, only Imhotep was able to see her eyes had began to glow and an ankh symbol appeared on her forehead. Suddenly a burst of magic spread out from her causing everything to be suspended in time. With a final yank, Imhotep had been saved as they were kneeling on the edge, Eva smiled up at Imhotep who was confused but she placed a hand on the back of his neck and placed their foreheads together.

Standing up, Eva pulled Imhotep to his feet and the magic chose that moment to vanish causing them to risk the rocks and finally made it to safety with Rick noting how Eva refused to let go of Imhotep’s hand. Elsewhere Meela was running and tripped causing her to fall into a pit of scorpions where she was killed, back with the family, Rick looked at the group and said, “Come on, this whole place is going to get sucked in.” With a nod, the others went to the outside of the pyramid as everything around them began to get sucked into the sand, seeing this they began to climb up to the top and once at the top, they saw no way out. This caused Eva to look up at Imhotep who wrapped her in a protective embrace which included her children that were confused as to what was happening between the two. Rick on the other hand was furious as what was taking place as Imhotep had stolen his wife. “We’re trapped.” The family hugged each other as they all began to think they were going to die, suddenly Izzy arrived and they all climbed onto the balloon, with Jonathan losing his grip and getting his legs entangled.

As Jonathan was upside down, he grabbed hold of the diamond off the top of the pyramid and was pulled up where they watched as Ahm Shere disappeared into the sand, as they stood on the gondola, Evie kissed Izzy on the cheek and kept thanking him for saving them. “O’Connell! You nearly got me killed.” Rick and Jonathan lay on the deck panting, while he bantered with Izzy, Eva and Imhotep were on the other end of the gondola where she took his hands in her own and with a silent conversation, he agreed to whatever she was going to do. Taking in a deep breath, she cast the spell that would get rid of the Hom Dai curse and revert Imhotep to a mere mortal, a spell that Sekhmet had found over three thousand years ago. Once the spell had been cast, the others instantly were caught off guard by the glow and Rick was ready to say something when he saw a change in Eva. During this journey whenever she had been with him, she had been the complete opposite she had usually been but with Imhotep , she seemed to have come out of her shell and was being her best self. This caused Rick to understand where his wife’s heart truly laid, causing  him to become heartbroken.

From far below was Ardeth on his horse, he waved to them and they had to briefly land so Evie could reunite with her husband, as Evie jumped out of the gondola they watched as she rushed to her husband and was warmly welcome with a lovingly embrace and a deep passionate kiss. As he helped her onto his horse, the two watched as the gondola was back in the air, Ardeth said something to them in Arabic, the ones on the gondola waved back, Ardeth climbed back on his horse and reared it and the happy couple rode off. Back on the gondola, Rick was standing near Jonathan and both were watching Eva looking out at the view with Imhotep embracing her from behind and her smiling up at him. Izzy chose that moment to look at the diamond and say, “That’s half mine.” The balloon continued off sailing back to where it had originally been posted but Eva knew that when the family returned to London then all hell would break loose.
