Chapter 1: a lost girl in heels
Chapter Text
Ophelia hated events. More than all the dress fitting, the lessons, the lecturing she received from Queen Leah. Actually, hold that thought. No Queen Leah's lectures were worse.
But her she was, at one of those events, but with Audrey holding her hand those events weren't as scary.
She had handed Ophelia a little plastic wine glass full of pink lemonade ten minutes ago. Audrey had an actual wine glass, she wasn't sure if it had any alcohol in it, she doubted it, Audrey was the definition of a princess, freshly eighteen, legally she could drink but it wouldn't be a good look. Chad might have brought some in, he was always pinning for some attention, his prince exterior, didn't match his annoying exterior. Ophelia asked Audrey a couple time, and by couple, I mean every single time they saw him, why she even hanged out with him. Audrey said she needed to be nice and friendly with everyone, those were aspects of a queen.
Speaking of royalty, prince, wait no king Ben, was approaching her and Audrey.
Audrey motioned to her to give her the little plastic glass, so she could hold it, once given she placed it on a side table, a white tablecloth covering the circle top with a pastel yellow cloth decorating it.
They both gave a low curtsy, Ophelia picked up part of her pastel pink dress with its many ruffles so she could more comfortably curtsy.
When she looked back up, she could see that ben was holding Audrey's chin, tilting it up as she returned back from her curtsy.
"You can stop looking at me like that now" she said, brushing a stary piece of hair from her face, blush highlighting her face
"Hmmm, I just like looking at you"
"Aww Benny boo, you are a flirt"
"Well, you are such a beautiful girl" Ben leant forward placing his hand on the tablecloth and gripped it, growling.
"Ew ew ew, children present! Get a room!" Ophelia exclaimed, squealing and clasping her hands together while turning away. They let out a chuckle as Audrey walked towards her, gently placing her hands on her shoulders to turn her towards her and boobing her nose as she spoke.
"Don't be afraid of a little love pumpkin!"
Ophelia smiled and giggled as she did, she wasn't afraid of her love, Audrey was always sweet with her, Ben wasn't so bad. It took Ophelia a while to get used to Ben, but he had grew on her.
Ben gave Ophelia a soft smile, promising to not flirt as much but she shrugged her shoulders and told him it was fine, as Audrey had taught her nothing wrong with love.
"It's weird that you going to be king soon, are people starting to use your knew title? King Ben sounds weird'"
"Believe me Ophelia it sounds just as weird to me, but I have plans that only kings can do" Ben responded, pushing his hand into his pocket while the other intertwined with Audrey's.
"Well, whatever it is ben, we always support you, right Ophie?"
She nodded with a smile when Audrey looked at her, Ben was always a good soul, a good fit for king, he always thought about the bigger picture and everyone else, sometimes forgetting about himself, but the girl duo was always there to remind him of self-care.
"It's pince Ben and princess Audrey!"
"Princess over here over here, smile!"
"Prince Ben, do you have any plans for Auradon"
The paparazzi had found them, Ophelia grumbled in her head, her secret spot to escape the socializing of events had been found out. Audrey and Ben instinctively pulled Ophelia behind them to protect the fifteen-year-old from the flashing lights and overwhelming interviewers.
Audrey put on a show, as she often did, smiling and highlighting different interviewers and answering their questions. She looked at Ben asking,
"Ben, anything to add?"
"Just that I'm bring the dear princess Ophelia to the mussem, we both share such a bond with it."
"Are you now?" Audrey gave us both a glare before Ben responded
"A sibling bonding trip, if you will"
Audrey's face lit up with warmth after the comment, she was a family orientated girl, her boyfriend and little sister being close meant a lot to her. She smiled and nodded at the two before going Back to the paparazzi, glamouring them again.
Ben offered Ophelia his hand, which she gladly took before they walked towards the mussem, smiling and talking about the day's events.
They had the mussem to themselves, not many people wandered around here, only for school trips and the hero's themselves who wanted to feed their egos. The mussem was eerie sometimes, too quiet for Ophelia's liking, the clip clop of her and Ben's shoos as they walked through the clean space.
They passed by many magical objects, Cinderella slipper, Merida's bow, a shell Ariel kept for a bit. But there was a missing object, a stand empty. There was supposed to be Peter Pan's, pan flute. Ophelia stopped, making Ben look back after noticing his missing friends.
Ophelia bore a sentimental look, but a sad one too. Underneath the usual information was a sign.
'If pan flute missing, do not fright. Peter frequently comes to take it back for personal use. It has not been stolen'
She wondered if someone ever actually stolen it, and no one bothered to look for it. Ben rubbed her shoulder giving her a small smile.
"I can get you a pan flute if you want"
Ophelia shook her head.
"Nah I feel like I'm disrespecting Neverland code, what happens there stays there"
Ben looked towards the blank stand, sighing.
"Ophie, I know you still feel like your lost, that he still controls you, but I promise you your free here. I'll fight tooth and nail to make sure of it."
Ophelia shrugged her shoulders, brushing of his words. Ben got the hint and dropped the subject, leading them towards the villain section of the museum.
Ben was right about something, Ophelia still felt like a lost girl. Ophelia was a lost girl. Sometimes she'd wake up in the night somewhere in the forest, Audrey quickly trailing behind her trying to catch her. Neverland still had a grip on her, Peter Pan was still a looming figure in her life, even after being gone for four years, that boy never left her memory.
You could take the girl out of Neverland, but you can't take the Neverland out of the girl.
Gods how it hurt her.
They continued on walking, right to the 'all evil' section as some would call it, where Malificent's staff, the spinning wheel, the genie lamp and Cruella De Vil's infamous coat was held. It wasn't Ophelia's favourite room, to be honest no one really liked it.
Audrey refused to go in it, to quote 'My family and my kingdom was cursed by that very staff, I refuse to ever be near it!'
Ophelia looked towards ben, she could see his brain scheming something. Power? No, he was going to be king in the next three weeks, he couldn't get more powerful than that. Revenge? No, any traces of Gaston were sent to the isle of the lost, that's how they had a tavern. So, what was that boy thinking?
"Feeling sentimental?"
Ben shook his head "You know that plan is mentioned earlier?"
Ophelia nodded.
"I want to invite some of the villain's children to live in Auradon"
Ben looked hesitant, maybe nervous about Ophelia's reaction. She wasn't shocked per say, more cautious. Not to play on stereotypes but Ophelia was scared of villain kids, or the VK's. Every so often back on neverland, they'd fly around the border of the Isle, teasing and playing with Captain Hook, she saw his son, Harry Hook and Ursula's daughter Uma. They were fierce kids. She didn't want to mess with them.
But those were only two kids, she also had no idea how anyone else on the isle raised their kids. She felt bad for the henchmen, Lefu, Gaston's henchman, didn't really have a choice in some of his actions, Gaston was too controlling, well that what Ben's mother said.
And hey, Ophelia was a lost girl, Auradon wasn't entirely welcoming to the Neverlander's. they played around too much, stealing and just being kids, but that point didn't make any sense because they literally were kids.
Ophelia pushed the thoughts aside answering Ben.
"That's a good idea, bringing everyone together, no matter the differences, I like it!"
Ben let out a sigh of relief, she could see him physically relaxing, his shoulders drop and his smile returning.
"Good, good really good. I'm glad you understand where I'm coming from"
"I'm not that different am I, eh? Are you thinking bring them all over or slowly integrate them in, because I know a certain queen would not be happy with it."
Ben slightly frowned at her tiny admission of her Neverland home. Although her and Ophelia weren't closest, he had heard it all from Audrey. She tried so hard to make her feel like she wasn't from Neverland, that she was her sister, of course Queen Leah, her grandmother, always shut that down, like she was sure she would do for Ben's idea.
Ophelia's home issues were a problem for another time though, Ben circled back to her question.
"I have an idea who to invite, four of them, I also know a certain sister who won't be happy with whom ome of them is?"
He glanced at Malifecnt's septor, and then back at Ophelia. She then looked back and forth between the two, her jaw every time getting closer and closer to the floor.
"No."
"Yes."
"She'll go ballistic"
"We have to start somewhere Ophelia"
"By inviting your girlfriends worse enemy's daughter first" Wow that was a tounge twister.
Ben sighed beginning to pace the floor. Ophelia wasn't against this idea, but going in with Malificent's daughter first? It like he was asking to get broken up with.
"Maybe start with henchmen kids? Most of the henchmen are bystanders in anyways"
"If I start with the big ones and they get accepted, which I'm sure they will, then everyone else that follows won't get much of a backlash"
"Who else are you thinking of?"
'Evil queen, Jaffar and Cruella De Vil's kids'
"Ahhh yes , let's bring the jealous one, the evil magician and the puppy killer's kids over"
"Don't but so judgey'
"But I'm telling the truth!'
Ophelia found herself a tad frustrated. She was sure those kids would be okay kids, even great one, ones that would make incredible students and friends, but it was the legacy they carried on their shoulders that worried her.
Everyone in Auradon carried a legacy, herself included.
"Ben, their kids are probably great, but their legacy follows them, just like mine. You think my treatment in Auradon is bad, theirs will be a thousand times worse.'
Ben looked back at Ophelia, who now bore a sympathetic look, one of her hands fiddling with a string necklace. Ben knew Ophelia wasn't treated with the most respect, she'd get looks out in the street, when she was first introduced four years ago, the eleven-year-old was scandalled by the newspapers. It didn't help that her 'grandmother' scalded her constantly. Now the drama had died down, but Ophelia couldn't hide the way she flinched whenever the paparazzi was about. It was why Audrey and Ben were so quick to intervene today.
"I'll....I'll put some more thought into."
He sat down on the little step that led to Maleficent's septor, his hands covering his mouth, looking deep in thought. Ophelia sighed and sat down next to him.
"Like Audrey said, I'll always support you, you just got to be careful."
" I guess the older generation aren't as open as we are huh?"
"Nope, if you think queen Leah isn't going to kick up a fuss, I urge you to speak to a therapist"
They both chuckled, although queen Leah liked to pretend to be nice in front of ben, he knew the abuse that Audrey and Ophelia faced every day. Ophelia leant onto Ben's lap, in all honesty Ophelia loved Ben, she had many brothers before it was no surprise they got on well. Ben felt the same way, he hadn't many friends despite being the prince, he had a sister and his girlfriend.
They heard a clip clopping of a pair of heels coming from down the corridor, Ophelia said a small prayer in her head 'please don't be queen Leah, please don't be queen Leah, please don't be queen Leah'
To her pleasure, it was queen Belle, to Ben's displeasure, it was his mum, however they actually had a good relationship, and was quite comfortable being seen like this.
"I thought I would find you two here"
She said with a grin on her face leaning against the entrance frame, crossing her arms. Today she had on a simple pirouette dress, in a soft blue. Despite contrary belief, blue was her favourite colour, she just looked best in yellow. She gave Ophelia a small smile, nodding at her, she returned the same.
"Mum, you just looked at the cameras"
"Nuh uh" she tutted wagging her finger "I saw you two leave to come here, but I wasn't sure where you would be, so I asked the security guard"
"You're so sneaky"
"Well son, I'm nothing if not smart" she grinned coming to sit down beside me "And Ophelia dear, how are you?"
Ophelia picked her head up from Ben's lap, trying to neaten up her dress again.
"I'm alright, excited to get out of the dress and heel's though"
"Understandable, I do keep telling your grandmother you don't need to come full glam, I know how unformattable it all gets"
"My grandmother is my grandmother, she likes the old rules I suppose"
"When I'm king I'll make the rule that bans all the old rules" Ben says, nudging my shoulder.
Belle gasps, reaching over to hit him jokingly.
"Ben the uproar you'll get, the press won't hear the end of it. And your dad too, remember how he is with his rules."
Ophelia could see Ben stall for second, thinking back to the conversation he and Ophelia had just had. She grabbed his hand and squeezed it in reassurance, Ben smiled back and regained his composure.
'I'm joking mum, however Ophelia you do look beautiful.'
'Yes, you do deary, go on give us a spin'
Belle smiled, cheering her on. Ben held her hand as she got up, fluffing out the ruffles on her dress. It went down to her ankles where you could see white heeled Mary Janes with white ruffled socks. She had her leather string necklace with a few trinkets on show, usually she would hide it behind her scoop neckline of her dress, and puff sleeves.
She did a little spin, the skirt flowing as Belle and Ben clapped and cheered for her. She giggled and smiled, covering her mouth with a slight blush.
The three walked back through the museum, passing by Pan's missing flute, Belle gave her a side hug and rubbed her shoulder as they did. Audrey met them at the entrance warring Ophelia of paparazzi outside.
After a small pep talk and some replied lip gloss, they made their way outside and as warned, photographers and interviewers flashed and asked their questions. Belle and Ben took most of the blow, both knew how to handle their overwhelming noise and buzz of curiosity.
Audrey held Ophelia's hand through out, the two posing for a few pictures, most of them candid. Audrey had taught her the ways to wow the paparazzi, she didn't practically like doing it, but she could.
Fluffing her hair up and looking over her shoulder with a cute smile. Doing small things that would make gorgeous candid photos which we basically her and Audrey messing around. And the short and sweet answers that was the key.
Every so often they'd question her being a lost girl, she learned to brush it of a simple answer of 'My loyalty always lies with my sister Audrey and Auradon'
Saying the rocky start with the press heavily affected her mental health, Ophelia could really play them.
They walked to the long limo, where queen Leah was waiting, prim and perfect, a smile painted perfectly on her face.
Both Audrey and Ophelia could imagine what she would say to them 'Your makeup is smudged' 'You didn't smile enough' or the dreaded 'You are both damaging the family name'. Ophelia's insults were more personal, but she preferred not to remember them as much.
They all piled into the car, where Belle instructed the driver to bring them to the royale palace.
'Your majesty my granddaughter, Ophelia and I should really head back'
'Oh no, I insist you come with, your granddaughters are such a pleaser to be around. Tea girls?'
Both Ophelia and Audrey nodded, silently thanking Belle for saving them for a few hours. She also did pick up on how Leah separated Ophelia and Audrey. Belle always noticed the little things, that's why she was so good.
Ophelia hoped it would turn into a sleepover, the royal palace was more of home than Audrey's, but in fairness Audrey had a large dorm she shared with Ophelia. They both avoided their grandmother and her palace as often as possible.
Ben was kind enough to get them rooms near his own, most of the time him and Audrey would spend hours talking in the balcony while watching Ophelia play around on the open grass, running jumping summersaults in the air. She hoped if she nagged enough ben would finally get that swing installed in the tree.
She really hoped she would stay the night, knowing Leah couldn't deny Belle's orders, she might back off and Ophelia could play out in the back garden at night, the moonlight on her back and grass between her toes as she ran.
Gods she couldn't wait to take these heels of.
Chapter 2: lost in the palace
Summary:
tea and then ophelia gets REALLY lost in her head
Chapter Text
Tea with queen was always fun. Mostly because Belle wasn’t boring, she had many thoughts and opinions she wasn’t afraid to express. Go on Belle, rejecting societal standards since 1991.
Queen Leah was still being annoying, passive aggressive as ever, but she had to watch her tone, Belle was onto her.
Ophelia had opted for the usual British tea, while Audrey had some earl gray, as well as her grandmother. As much as Audrey didn’t like he grandmother, you had to admit their similarities. I mean earl gray tea is so strong a potent, it tastes like a floral perfume, and yet the two still liked it.
There was polite conversations, a few incoming events, but more importantly Ben’s coronation. Leah brought up the seating plan for the day, Ben stalled by Belle answered with no delay, the entire seating plan, of course she was organised.
Audrey would be on the front row, being brought in on the same carriage as Ben, Ophelia was of course free to join them. Leah was about to butt in before Ben interrupted, reaching his hand out to Ophelia.
“Ophie, I want nothing more than you there with me.”
Ophelia smiled reaching back and squeezing each other’s hands. Audrey replied happily that she was glad their little family was all going to be there for the coronation.
More chitchat continues before Ben asked to talk to his mum privately along with his dad. He gave Ophelia a look, and she understand he was going to explain his plan, she gave a nod back, hoping it all went well.
They left the room, leaving the trio in silence, Audrey and Ophelia didn’t dare move or even breathe wrong. Leah waited until five minutes have passed before she spoke.
“You are going to make a disgrace out of our kingdom”
The first strike went to Ophelia, who stayed silent, fiddling with the ruffles on her dress.
“And get that filthy necklace out of view! No one wants to see that” Leah spoke with distain standing up to rag the necklace form Ophelia’s necklace before Audrey intervened physically.
“Grandmother, Prince Ben and Queen Belle don’t mind. They even like the necklace.”
“With a ring and a few scrappy charms she got from gods knows where, I don’t think so.”
Ophelia had collected her charms from neverland and the adventures. The ring was just a simple gold band, sometimes it changed to silver, she wasn’t entirely sure why it did. For a while she thought it was when peter pan was near, but even on neverland it change sporadically. The rest where from adventures that she could never tell, ones that no one wanted to know.
“You know Ophelia, life isn’t going to get handed to you on a silver platter”
“No grandmother, they’ll be gold”
Ophelia laughed slightly at this before quickly hiding it as Leah sighed bringing her hand to her head, a concerned expression on her face.
“You two don’t grasp the weight on your shoulders. Audrey you are going to be queen, Ophelia, I don’t even know what you are, but you still reflect badly on the family and this kingdom!”
Silence hung thick in the room, both girls had their eyes to the floor, a familiar look of sorrow on their faces.
Ophelia wishes princess Aurora was more prominent in Audrey’s life. Saying that the princesses were supposed to be hero’s, Aurora wasn’t a good mother. In the four years Ophelia had been with Audrey, she had met her parents a total of five time, even then she didn’t know them. They had recognized Ophelia as a part of their family, shown up for events and took photos, but that was it.
With the lack of a good parental figure in Audrey’s life, Ophelia figured that she didn’t see her parents as her family, more a burden, her legacy.
Leah abused the absence of her son and daughter in law to control her granddaughters’ lives, maybe to prove she was a hero or get more attention from her kingdom. To prove she wasn’t the queen that let her kingdom get snatched from under her eyes, however that had proven difficult, the press liked Ophelia more than they liked Leah.
“Grandmother, I sincerely apologise for my behaviour a promise to do better”
At this point Ophelia didn’t even know what she was apologising for, it was better to be sorry then to fight her. Leah sighed and gave Ophelia a small smile.
“You shall learn Ophelia, then you shall earn the gift of the name granddaughter”
Audrey was about to argue back, for perhaps the hundredth time against her grandmother, before Ben crashed open the door. He hurriedly went to the back of the sofa Audrey and Ophelia sat on, pushing them up and dragging them out of the sofa table formation and hooking his arms around both their shoulders. He was in the middle of the duo, both confused and looking towards his parents, looking worried and speaking in a serios tone about ‘his plan’.
“Audrey my love how do you feel about staying the night”
“Well, uhm”
“Yes perfect, and you dear sister, would you like to stay?”
Ben looked between the two, rushing out his words and continuing to walk them towards the second entrance of the room. Ophelia nodded her, she had a feeling his talk didn’t go the way he wanted it to.
“Right perfect! Mother ,father sorry I must show my guests around and make them comfortable, thank you queen Leah for staying feel free to leave whenever you like”
He kept up the fast pace and looking towards the specific people as he spoke. Ophelia could hear the protest of the parents and grandparents and he took them out the room, but he left them no explanation.
He reached the top floor, that held his and the girls’ quarters before Audrey stopped them in their tracks, placing her hand on Bens’s chest and pushing back until he stopped.
“As much as I love the enthusiasm, one children are present” she gestured to Ophelia who gave a small wave, as if her presence wasn’t already known.
“And two, you cannot just barge us off to where you want without an explanation”
Audrey held a fair point. Ben unhooked his arm from Ophelia, starting to speak before Audrey pointed her finger away ay Ophelia
“Ophelia go off and play”
“But-“
“The adults are talking.”
Audrey gave her sister a glare, a classic ‘don’t test me’, Ophelia started to walk off to her room, her open window and roof access was more fun in anyways. She often forgot that even though Audrey was kind and patience with Ophelia, she was still a princess and knew nothing but that life.
“Stupid princess”
Ophelia muttered under her breath, her back turned on the two. Audrey tilted her head, her serious face back on.
”What did you say Ophelia Leto?”
“Nothing Audrey Rose”
Full names were in play, she’d match the energy, ben looked like a child stuck between arguments, but Audrey gave Ophelia a smile, witch she quickly returned. It was all jokes… hopefully.
Ophelia could see where that talk was going though, may end up with Audrey storming into the room angrily, shouting but not loud just her tone, and retreating the obvious flaw in Ben’s plan to invite her parents’ enemy’s daughter. No doubt Audrey would stumble over that phrase, Ophelia had a hard time thinking about it.
Ophelia stepped out of her heels as soon as she got to her room, unzipping her dress as she walked towards the walk in closet. Audrey said it was too small for her, but Ophelia didn’t mind. Taking of her dress and quickly forgetting about it on the floor like the heels she kicked under her dresser.
She traded her fancy dress for a worn-out pair of black cotton shorts and a oversized navy blue shirt she had bleached a sun and moon design on the back.
She imagined she was de-transforming, like the hero’s do. Shed randomly shout:
“Rio, spots off, yeah!”
She missed her little fennec fox friend, a reminder of her Neverland home. She hoped her brothers there still looked after her, that Rio still remembered her. Or maybe Rio disappeared from Neverland as soon as Ophelia did. Some fairy-tale physics, she wasn’t too sure, she just hopped her furry friend was okay.
After trading her princess attire for her true relaxed form, she went towards her grand bookcase that surrounded her bay window, climbing on the ladder and pushing it so she wheeled across. Thank you, Belle, for putting the dream bookcase in every room.
Ophelia had learned to read, it wasn’t her favourite thing, but she knew there was a copy of every known family in one of the books. It was magic, obviously, after every child was born in the isle of the lost or Auradon, it was wound into the pages of each copy of the book, Ophelia was lucky to have it.
She grabbed it, and flew back down the ladder, crashing down onto the bay window, stocked with cushions and blankets that softened her falls. She settled into a comfortable position, the book resting on her thighs that were close to her chest an opened the weathered book.
It flowed open to the exact page she was thinking off, isle of the lost, Maleficent. Who was the kid who was going to cause so much trouble for just existing.
The family tree was barren, Maleficent on one side ,an unknown father and a daughter. She felt bad for the kid, daughter of the worst villain and didn’t have a dad. Her name was ‘Mal Bertha’, vibrant purple hair and an evil smile that perfectly matched her mothers.
The other three Ben planned on inviting were called Evie, Carlos and Jay. They seemed like a nice group, hopefully from similar parts of the isle and got on well because if Ben got his plan approved, they were about to get trauma bonded really fast.
She shut the book placing it on the other side of the seating area, staring out of the window, imaging she could fly out and onto the grass bellow.
It would look a lot better with wildflowers, they would help animal and bug population too. She never understood the perfection the royals always wanted, every strand had to be the same size, rows of neat flowers, even the roses didn’t have thorns on them.
It took away from the metaphor that something beautiful can also be bad, all the life was kind of drained from Auradon’s nature. It was too perfect.
Ophelia still made good use of the grass, it was soft, and her feet felt cushioned, whenever she ran on it, but after a while, she wanted some random stone or bump in the grass to surprise her, a little pain was always fun.
She wished she had some sort of nature powers so she could run rampant on the streets and bloom flowers and grass everywhere, forest trails were always more fun than the boring cobbled streets. The horses would like it better too, since all of Auradon insisted on only using horses, carriages or bikes to get around. Ophelia had seen a few pastel-coloured mopeds, but cars weren’t Auradon’s style. The only reason they used limos and cars was for safety.
She fiddled with the ring strung round her neck as she thought, holding it up, she could see that it had changed to silver, glittering in the sunlight that shone through her window.
Maybe it changed with what she was wearing? Gold went more with pink, and blue went more with silver, so maybe that was it…nah she had spent moths in the same dirty t-shirt on neverland and it still changed. Why didn’t she ask peter about it! I mean even if she had the chance now, she would still chicken out, that guy is scary.
She sighed and let the ring drop and a bounce on her chest, collecting her thoughts once more before hearing Audrey shout “YOU’RE INVITING WHO?’
Yep, that was her cue to leave. Grabbing a few blankets and her journal and writing supplies, she pushed on one of the windows, opening up onto the slanted roof.
She clambered up, hunching over to make sure nothing she held fell, before she reached the roof of her bay window and dumped it all. Setting up a cosy area for herself, she took at her ink and quill, not her doing, it was all Audrey, she stared writing in the leather-bound book. The paper was recycled, requested specifically from her, little specs of different coloured papers shone through as she dragged the quill across the page.
Her writing wasn’t all that bad either, queen Leah had decided that writing and sewing were Ophelia’s choses talents, thankfully she actually quite liked both, she could turn off her brain and somehow please her grandmother high standards.
Her mind wandered as her hands took control at the task at hand, writing a descriptive narrative about a dessert, difficult prompt but she knew her hands could handle that.
In her mind however, she was dreaming of neverland, seeing tinker bell again, seeing her brothers, the hammocks and dancing around the fireplace, she really missed it. There might even be more lost girls! Her and Tink surprisingly got on, she fell in line in the lost boy rank so there was no rivalry on who was peters best friends. But Tink liked her, giving her more pixie dust then the others, small pointers in their games, often giving her more portions of food and first access to baked goods whenever Tink brought some back.
Hmmn. Did she miss neverland or did she miss Tink?
Hard to say. But she doubted shed be allowed back on neverland, the oldest boys were froze on their eighteenth birthday, they were somewhat trapped, if they left Pan’s side they wouldn’t be allowed back, but the kids were always there because they wanted to.
Ophelia was fifteen, she was on the cusp of being a ‘young adult’ and that quite scared her. She got scared everyday as she saw herself change in the mirror, with every second of everyday she got older and further and further away from her island.
She must have spent hours in her own head because when she snapped back, the night was fully dark, the moon shedding it light, and her hands were writing something entirely different. ‘The writer uses the structure…’ why was she answering GCSE questions?
From bellow she could hear people calling g her name
“Ophelia Rose!”
“Ophelia where are you!”
Yeah, she had definitely been there for a few hours, maybe six? If she had got here at two o’clock and it was now night, she had been here a while.
Ophelia heard her window open, and Audrey ascended to her, her eyes widened when she set eyes on Ophelia
“I’ve found her! I’ve found her!”
She crashed down wrapping her arms round Ophelia’s shoulders, stroking her hair and kissing her forehead.
“Ophie don’t do that again, you had us worried sick, we thought you went back into the woods”
Audrey had a worried expression her face, knowing how many times she had ran through the forest to find Ophelia in a trance there. She stroked her face, the back of her hand resting on Ophelia’s cheek
“god’s Ophelia your freezing!”
Audrey spoke with concern, quickly grabbing on of the blankets Ophelia had brought up originally, wrapping her up in a bundle. Ophelia wasn’t connected back with the world yet, her brain was lagging, only know recognised what her sister was saying.
“Bows I’m fine…”
The nickname she had for Audrey rolled of her tounge easily, but the rest of her words were said between chattered teeth. Ophelia attempted to shrug the blanket off and get up, but Audrey stopped her, wrapping her back up and siting her back down
“Baby sit-down, you might already be sick, I don’t want to make it worse”
Ophelia heard another person come from the window, Ben. Audrey helped pass Ophelia’s shaking body down the slant of the rood and down to Ben’s arms, who immediately picked her up, bridal style and brought her inside.
Medics waited patiently, checking her pulse, temperature and other usual things. Everything had seemed to slow down, her heartbeat only now was returning back to a somewhat normal pace. It wasn’t the weather that made her cold, her body slowing down meant her body temperature dropped drastically.
The best thing that could happen was to let her rest, keep her monitored, warm and inside, hopefully her body would sort herself back out.
Ophelia kept murmuring that she was fine, but ben started to slowly rock his arms, coddling her like a baby in his arms. The medics left, ben had medical training and if anything, drastic happened the call button was close by.
Ben and Audrey gently lay her down in her bed, packing her in with blankets and cushions, a few stuffed teddies in there two. They tucked her in, undeniably now they were treating her like a child, but Ophelia had no energy to protest.
Audrey placed a kiss on her forehead and sat beside her, holding her hand and rubbing it with her thumb, singing her old lullabies, while ben sat on the floor next to her watching his girls.
Audrey’s voice reminded her of Tinkerbell’s chimes, sometimes Ophelia could decipher them, but now her brain was fighting against the ringing of the bells.
When she eventually feel asleep, she had flashes of a dream, back at neverland. Rio circling on her chest as she stroked her, Tinkerbell curtsying at her, dancing with the rest f her brothers around the fire. She only experienced it for a moment before the joy was ripped from her, like the royal side of her was trying to push the neverland her away.
She was really lost.
