Letters to Jamie

Chapter 21: Last Words

Chapter Text

Dear Jamie,

The last words I spoke to my husband of twenty years were of my undying love for you. I don’t regret speaking true, but I do regret that Frank didn’t get a chance to live with the wife he wanted.

Now, I am left to mourn as the wife he didn’t live long enough to divorce.

My heart is aching for Bree. I hate that she now knows what it’s like to lose the person she loves most in the world. I hope I can soon offer her safety in my understanding. So far, I’ve received more response from the creaks and hums of the townhouse.

If you and Frank finally meet, don’t bother challenging him — you’ve already won. Two dead husbands, but there’s only one ghost I reach for each night.

Your grieving widow,

Claire

Postscriptum: Perhaps I’ll suggest Bree start her own journal.
