Refurbishing Walt Disney World: Magic Kingdom

Summary:

An idea on how to possibly fix and make The Magic Kingdom better.

Chapter 1: Overview

Chapter Text

Some of you reading this may remember that over the course of last summer, I was sharing an idea I had for an American version of Tokyo DisneySea, simply called……DisneySea, here on Archive of Our Own.

Ever since doing that idea, I’ve toying with doing other theme park ideas.

And one of those ideas was a refurbishment of Walt Disney World.

Chances are most of you reading this haven’t heard the best things about the park over the last few years.

There’s a couple of reasons for that.

From the increased costs of things, to the RIDICULOUSLY long wait times.

But perhaps the biggest reason for the park’s downfall is because of its new focus on brand synergy.

There’s been a notable increase of rides and attractions based around popular IPs over the last decade of so.

And as a result of this, its lead to the parks making up Walt Disney World to lose their integrity and identity.

A while back, I watched this video by Poseidon Entertainment titled “How Disney Destroyed Education and Culture”.

It was a genuinely insightful watch, as it went over how much learning had factored into the identity of the Disney Parks.

And this was especially prevalent with Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.

Epcot was dedicated to celebrating human achievement, particularly technology, and teaching visitors about the various cultures of our world.

Hollywood Studios was dedicated to teaching visitors about the world of film-making and celebrating the medium that was film.

And Animal Kingdom was dedicated to honoring the animals of our world, the animals of the past, and the animals of legend.

But over the course of the 21st century, many of the attractions that perfectly tied into the themes of the parks would be shut down and replaced with rides that not only tied into a notable IP, but also didn’t really emphasize the themes of the parks.

I think this discussion really came into play around 2023, when it was announced that DinoLand U.S.A, the area in Animal Kingdom dedicated to the animals of the past, would replaced with a South American themed-land.

On one hand, having a South American themed land does fit with the animal theming.

But on the other hand, it came at the price of the land that represented one of the three core fundamentals of the park.

This is made even worse with the fact that two of the highlights of this land would be an attraction based on Indiana Jones and an attraction based on Encanto.

I think out of all the parks, the one that definitely had it’s identity scrubbed the most would be Epcot, specifically with The World Showcase.

Literally most of the attractions there are IP based.

And while Magic Kingdom is definitely the least tainted of the parks, it’s still not exactly seen in the best light.

In addition to the reasons I stated earlier, along with the food there being really mediocre, there’s also the fact that it has less attractions when compared to the original Disneyland.

Plus, when it comes to the rides both parks share, the ones over in The Magic Kingdom are generally seen as inferior.

And with that being said, I’m officially planning on doing a Walt Disney World refurbishment series, where I share my ideas on how these parks could be updated to both be the best they can be and bring back their original soul and integrity.

And start this off, we’ll be looking at the very first park: The Magic Kingdom!

In honor of the 70th anniversary of Disneyland!

Which I known seems strange, but I think Disneyland is fine the way it is.

Plus, The Magic Kingdom was created to be the East Coast equivalent of Disneyland.

First off, let's get these out of the way.

-The prices will be reduced to be more reasonable

-The wait times will also be decreased to be more reasonable

-The food will actually be good

For this refurbishment, there will be some changes made to the themed lands of the parks.

This refurbishment will also see the addition of two new lands.

Those being Toontown and Marvel's Superhero City.

Chapter 2: Main Street, U.S.A.

Chapter Text

Starting this off, we have Main Street, U.S.A.!

The trip into the yesteryears of Walt Disney himself!

Overall, there's not a whole lot to change about this land.

The theming, attractions, entertainment, restaurants and shops will remain the same.

But in terms of the changes.....

Main Street Cinema and The Penny Arcade will be brought back.

Main Street Cinema is a movie theater that serves as a rest area for visitors.

Here, they can watch a wide array of short films.

Including the silent films of stars like Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, the Silly Symphony shorts, and the classic cartoons of Mickey Mouse and all his friends.

You can even bring in your own food and snacks!

At The Penny Arcade, guests can play various games and entertainment machines from the turn-of-the-century including mechanical amusements like coin-operated kinetoscopes, shooting galleries, grip/strength testers, fortune-telling machines, stationary bicycles, mutoscopes, and phonographs.

A new form of entertainment would be added called Casey's Stadium.

Being placed right next to Casey's Corner, this would be a recreation of a turn-of-the-century ballpark, where guests can watch live baseball games.

All from air-conditioned stands!

Speaking of Casey's Corner, that place will essentially be more of a buffet now, with the big highlight being able to top your own beef hot dogs, plant-based sausages, beef corn dogs, beef burger patties, veggie patties, nachos or fries.

The toppings bar consists of ketchup, mustard, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, cheese, beef chili, vegetarian chili, sweet relish, diced onions, tomato wedges, sport peppers, sauerkraut, pickles, crumbled bacon, American cheese slices, cheddar cheese slices, shredded cheddar, lettuce, sliced onions, tomato slices, caramelized onions, Swiss cheese slices, pepperjack cheese slices, bacon strips, taco-seasoned grounded beef, chicken and pork, shredded Monterey Jack, shredded lettuce, refried beans, diced tomatoes, white rice, jalapeno slices, brown rice, black beans, cheese sauce, salsa, sour cream and guacamole.

There's also a treats bar with peanuts and different flavors of popcorn and pretzels.

For popcorn: buttered, Cracker Jack, kettle corn, chocolate, spicy, cheddar, cinnamon sugar and cotton candy.

For pretzels: salted, cheddar, sour cream and onion, garlic parmesan, pizza, jalapeno cheddar and cinnamon sugar.

And there's a self-serving soda machine, consisting of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Cherry Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Starry, Orange Fanta, Grape Fanta, Minute Maid Fruit Punch, Minute Maid Lemonade, and Barq's.

The Main Street Bakery will now offer a wide variety of cookies, cakes, breads and pies.

And Plaza Ice Cream Parlor will feature a much wider array of ice cream flavors.

There'll be a new shop called Pamper Pets.

Here, you can buy various items for your pets like toys, food and treats, beds, cages, grooming supplies, collars and other accessories.

You can also buy merchandising themed after Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians, and The Great Mouse Detective.

And finally for character greets, we've got The Sensational Six (who will all be in turn-of-the-century attire), Lady and Tramp (who will be done through puppetry) Pongo and Perdita, Cruella De Vil, Basil of Baker Street, and Casey.

Chapter 3: Fantasyland

Chapter Text

Next we look at arguably the heart of The Magic Kingdom, Fantasyland!

The land where fairy tales come to life!

Overall, this land wouldn't really see any changes, apart from a few additions with entertainment and attractions.

However, there would be another sub-area added to this land.

But before we touch on that, let's talk about those few additions.

Over in Castle Courtyard, a new form of entertainment will be added called The Festival of Fools.

Based off the one of the same from Disney's very own: The Hunchback of Notre Dame, this festival would see colored costumed street performers putting on various comedic acts and dances for visitors to see.

Castle Courtyard will also see the return of the classic ride: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

Guests enter a recreation of Toad Hall, passing by artistic works commemorating characters from The Wind in the Willows.

A large mural shows the adventures of Mr. Toad and his motorcar, foreshadowing various scenes in the ride. Guests hop aboard miniature early 1900's-era multi-colored motorcars. The name of one of the characters from the film is inscribed on the front of each one.

Passengers begin their journey by crashing into Toad Hall's library, where Angus MacBadger is seen teetering atop a ladder with a stack of books. They then careen through the fireplace, where fiberoptic effects simulate the scattering of embers on the floor. Narrowly avoiding a falling suit of armor, the passengers break through a set of doors to find the interior hallway of Toad Hall in disarray, as Weasels swing from chandeliers. Guests then enter the dining room, where Mole is eating at a dinner table and gets knocked aside.

Upon leaving Toad Hall, guests travel through the countryside, passing Ratty's house, aggravating policemen, and terrifying a farmer and his sheep. Making a right turn, guests head for the docks and get the impression that their car will plunge into the river, but quickly make a sharp turn in a different direction and enter a warehouse full of barrels and crates containing explosives. Guests crash through a brick wall as the warehouse's contents explode.

They then head out into the streets of London, avoid a close collision with a delivery truck and enter Winky's Pub, where Winky the bartender holds two spinning beer mugs. He ducks down, leaving the mugs spinning in the air.

Passengers then enter the town square, where the cars wreak further havoc on the citizens. A working fountain featuring Mr. Toad and Cyril Proudbottom stands in the center of the town. Behind this statue is a statue of Lady Justice peeking out from under her blindfold. Next, guests enter a jury-less courtroom, where the riders are proclaimed guilty by a judge (based on the film's prosecutor). The cars then enter what is presumed to be a dark prison cell before abruptly turning right and landing on railroad tracks. The cars bounce along the tracks in the dark before colliding head-on with an oncoming train.

Guests then arrive at the ride's final scene: a tongue-in-cheek depiction of Hell not inspired by any scene in the movie or book. The entire room is heated and the scenery features small devils who wiggle up and down. A large devil, who resembles the Judge from the courtroom scene, emerges and points guests to the left (the devil's/Judge's right), indicating "redemption". Near the end of the scene, a towering green dragon emerges and attempts to burn the riders to a crisp. A glowing light is seen in the back of its throat and we hear choking, coughing noises.

Granted the reprieve from the demon judge, the passengers eventually "escape" to the unload area, where they disembark.

And lastly underneath the icon of the land (and The Magic Kingdom in general) Cinderella Castle, being brought over from Disneyland Paris, is The Lair of the Dragon.

Here, guests can walk through a dark and eerie cavern, with the main centerpiece of it all being an Audio-Animatronic version of Maleficent in her dragon form.

Over at Storybook Circus, a new junior roller coaster would be added called Hooty's Tunnel of Love.

Being an Audio-Animatronic ride, this attraction will feature the character of the same name from The Owl House recounting his many attempts at helping out various Disney couples.

The ride would showcase how they failed.

These would include.....

-Accidently swallowing Snow White while trying to kiss her, much to the horror of Prince Florian and The Seven Dwarfs.

-Transforming himself into a slipper for Prince Charming on Cinderella's foot, much to their disgust.

-Accidently knocking out Aurora with a tree branch while trying to get her and Prince Phillip closer.

-Taking out Ariel and Prince Eric on a romantic boat ride while serenading them with his singing, annoying them both.

-Causing the chandelier of the ballroom to drop on Belle and The Beast.

-Blinding Rapunzel and Eugene Fitzherbert with a massive, insanely bright lantern.

-Playing matchmaker with Luz and Amity, much to the embarrassment of the former.

Storybook Circus would also see a new form of entertainment in the form of The Casey Jr. Circus.

Being set in an actual circus tent, guests can witness a wide array of performances.

These include trapezes, human cannonballs, clowns, tightrope walking, ballet, jugglers, magic shows, strong men, acrobats and fire eaters.

There's also a new quick service spot called Carnival Cravings.

Modeled after carnival concessions stands, this spot serves popcorn, cotton candy, caramel apples, corn dogs, funnel cakes, sno-cones (comes in cherry, blue raspberry, green apple and lemon flavors), and elephant ears.

Over in Enchanted Forest, there would a new attraction called Rapunzel's Tangled Boat Ride.

Here, guests can hop aboard gondolas like the ones from Corona and take a relaxing boat trip on the river that flows through Fantasyland: The Rivers of Magic.

On this ride, guests will get to see the many attractions that make up this land from a whole new point of view.

Not to mention landmarks from Tangled like The Snuggly Duckling, the dam, and yes, even Rapunzel's iconic tower.

Finally, we come to the new sub-area of Fantasyland: Legends Lake.

The sub-area would be themed as a dense forest, with the centerpiece being a big lake in the middle of it.

And the forest would be filled with Will O' the Wisps from Brave (represented via projections), monoliths representing the elemental spirits from Frozen II, and Grecian pillars.

This sub-area features three attractions.

The first is The Frozen Slopes.

Here, guests can slide down a 40-foot fun slide designed to look like the icy slopes of a snowy mountain.

Can you guess what movie this ride was themed after?

Next is Olympus Chariots.

Essentially being the Walt Disney World equivalent of Disneyland's Matterhorn Bobsleds (and being themed around Hercules), this ride would be set in an obviously scaled down replica of the legendary Mount Olympus.

Here, guests will hop aboard chariots and find themselves on a race through the ruins-filled caverns of Olympus, all while avoiding various monsters of Greek mythology.

These include the Erymanthian boar, the Nemean lion, harpies, Cetus, a minotaur, a griffin, a horde of gorgons, Nessus the centaur, a cyclops, and The Hydra.

And lastly there's The Sherwood Shooting Range.

Themed after Robin Hood, guests are taken to a shooting ranged used by the legendary outlaw.

Here, they can do target practice with bows and suction cup arrows.

For food, there's Gyro Wurld.

This Ancient Greek-themed restaurant specializes in Mediterranean food.

They've got pita bread, hummus, falafel, stuffed grape leaves, spanokopita, tzatziki, shepherd's salad, tabouli, Greek salad, gyros (chicken, beef or pork), shish kebabs (chicken, beef or pork), French fries, basmati rice, baklava, tiramisu, olive oil cake, Turkish coffee, Turkish tea, lemonade, mint lemonade, and Pepsi products.

And lastly for shopping, there's Hero's Guild.

Here, you can a buy wide array of toy weapons (including swords, spears, bows and arrows, knifes, shields, and tridents) and Disney Heroes merchandising.

Finally for character greets; we've got The Sensational Six (all dressed in fantasy attire here; with Mickey being a knight, Minnie being a princess, Donald being a wizard, Daisy being a fairy, Goofy being a villager, and Pluto being a dragon), Snow White, The Seven Dwarfs, The Evil Queen, Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, Mr. Toad, Cinderella, Lady Tremaine, Jaq and Gus, Aurora, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather, Maleficent, Ariel, Prince Eric, Ursula, Belle, The Beast, Lumière, Cogsworth, Gaston, Rapunzel, Eugene Fitzherbert, Mother Gothel, Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, Dumbo, Alice, The Mad Hatter, The March Hare, The Cheshire Cat, The Queen of Hearts, Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Merlin, Arthur, Mad Madam Mim, Quasimodo, Esmeralda, Frollo, Hercules, Philoctetes, Megara, Hades, Robin Hood, Little John, Maid Marian, Prince John, The Sheriff of Nottingham, Merida, Luz Noceda, Eda Clawthrone and King.

Chapter 4: Toontown

Chapter Text

Now we've come to our third land, Toontown!

The home of Mickey Mouse and all his pals.

One major difference between this version and the one over in Disneyland is that this version of Toontown not only represent the classic Disney cartoons, but also the legacy of The Walt Disney Television Animation line-up.

The layout would be largely the same, except now with the addition of recreation of notable locales in various DTV shows.

These would include....

-McDuck Manor

-The Simpsons' House

-Higher for Hire

-537 Avian Way

-The Eyrie Building

-Third Street School

-The Pearson House

-The Proud House

-The Possible House

-The Flynn-Fletcher House

-The Green House

In terms of attractions, all the ones over in Disneyland would be coming over here as well.

As for the ones unique to this version.

First there's Baloo's Sea Duck Flight, a round up ride where guests seat themselves in a replica of The Sea Duck, which is then lifted off the ground and starts spinning.

Next there's Gargoyle Gliders, a carousel ride in there veins of Dumbo the Flying Elephant, where guests can hop aboard a member of The Manhattan Clan and use a special joystick to control how high or low they fly.

Then there's The Quirky-Worky Rollercoaster, a much bigger rollercoaster where guests can zoom by various scenes of Phineas and Ferb making some adjustments to the ride.

Next there's The Recess Playground, a replica of the schoolyard from the iconic show that serves as a play-area for little kids.

Second-to-lastly there's Tractor Tracks, being based on Big City Greens, where guests can race each other in their own tractors on a farm-themed racetrack.

And lastly, there's The Simpsons Ride.

Yeah in this timeline, the ride was taken from Universal Studios Florida and brought over here to Walt Disney World.

This land has only one form of entertainment in the form of Music Mania!

This will be an Audio-Animatronic concert, hosted by Jake Long and Dr. Doofenshmirtz.

The concert will feature performances by Bobby Proud, Oh Boyz, Love Händel, Kitty Section, Löded Diper, and of course, Powerline.

Chapter 5: Tomorrowland

Chapter Text

Now we've arrived at our fourth land, Tomorrowland!

The living vision of our potential future.

Thanks to this refurbishment, this land would be split into two sub-areas.

The first sub-area is Cosmopolis, a futuristic metropolis.

There is where Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, Tomorrowland Speedway, Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover,TRON Lightcycle/Run, Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress, Cool Ship, The Lunching Pad, Tomorrowland Terrace, and Tomorrowland Launch Depot will be located.

Tomorrowland Speedway will be receiving a more futuristic theming, with the cars being modeled to look like hover-cars of the future.

This sub-area will also see the return of Stitch's Great Escape!

Another returning attraction is The Timekeeper.

However, in contrast to Stitch's Great Escape, this attraction has some notable changes.

Those being the voices and the film.

The Timekeeper is now voiced by Jim Meskimen, while 9-Eye is voiced by Jennifer Hale.

As for the film itself, it's quite different from the original, but there are some holdovers though.

9-Eye's journey through time starts with her being sent back to North America in the year 66,000,000 B.C., where she has a close encounter with a Tyrannosaurus Rex, leading to a brief chase through a prehistoric forest.

9-Eye's next destination is Europe in the year 35,000 B.C., where she come across a tribe of cavemen hunting a mammoth.

Soon after that, she ends in Egypt in the year 2484 B.C., witnessing the last stretch of construction of The Great Pyramids of Giza.

Next 9-Eye ends up in Rome in the year 50 A.D., where she gets to see a chariot race in action in The Circus Maximus.

Her next stop is The North Atlantic Ocean in the year 985 A.D., where she stumbles upon a Viking longship sailing through a nasty storm.

9-Eye then heads to Japan in the year 1590, where He finds herself in the middle of The Siege of Odawara, narrowly dodging samurai warriors.

Next she ends up on The Caribbean Sea in the year 1700, where on the shores of a tropical island, she witnesses a pirate duel.

Then she finds herself in Tombstone, Arizona in the year 1886, where she gets to see the daily life of the town.

After this point, the ride plays out the same as it originally did, with 9-Eye ending up in 1900 Paris, France and meeting the legendary author, Jules Verne, at The Exposition Universelle.

Cosmopolis will also see a new attraction in the form of The New Urbem Museum of Superheroes.

Themed after The Incredibles, this attraction would be  a walk-through museum dedicated to Supers, commissioned and funded by Winston Deavor and designed by Edna Mode.

Here, you can encounter life-size replicas of various supers, along with information on them, including their backgrounds and powers.

Among the supers represented here include Apogee, Blazestone, Brick, Downburst, Dynaguy, Everseer, Fironic, Gamma Jack, Gazerbeam, He-Lectrix, Hypershock, Krushauer, Marcoburst, Meta-Man, Phylange, Plasmabolt, Psycwave, Reflux, Screech, Splashdown, Stormicide, Thunderhead, Universal Man, Voyd, and yes, The Incredibles and Frozone.

Another new attraction will actually be a classic one from Disneyland: The House of the Future.

This Audio-Animatronic walk-through attraction will show guests what domestic life in the 22nd century could be like.

This would include a garage full of hover-cars, televisions that project holographs, special pills that can become full course meals with either a single drop of water or a special rehydration machine, staircases that act like escalators, bedrooms that can become whatever it's owner likes, a bathroom that's a borderline mini spa, and a patio with an anti-gravity grill and pool.

The only form of entertainment is also found here: DJ Daft Duck's Dance Party.

Here, here you can jam out to electronic tunes, all played by the aforementioned DJ Daft Duck.

These tunes come from the likes of Skrillex, Calvin Harris, The Chainsmokers, Zedd, Daft Punk, and many more!

The second sub-area is Space Port, an intergalactic space station.

There is where Astro Orbiter, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, Space Mountain, Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies, Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe, The Buzz Lightyear Ship, and Star Traders will be located here.

This sub-area will also see the return of ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter.

Chapter 6: Marvel's Superhero City

Chapter Text

Now we've come to our fifth land, Marvel's Superhero City!

The Marvel Universe come to life!

Here, guests can enter into a scaled-down replica of New York City, filled with recreations of various landmarks of The Marvel Universe.

Including the likes of The Daily Bugle, The Baxter Building, Stark Tower, Avengers Mansion, The Sanctum Sanctorum, and The Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters.

In contrast to most other Marvel themed lands, this one's identity is squarely rooted in the comics.

Also all over the land, are giant cut-outs of various Marvel characters, designed by Patrick Brown.

This land has a total of eight attractions.

The first (and star) attraction is The Marvelous Adventure!

Set inside the replica of The Baxter Building, guests are greeted (via screens) by Mr. Fantastic (voiced by Ian James Corlett).

While going through the queue, he tells us about the history of The Fantastic Four.

Soon enough, Mr. Fantastic eventually introduces us to the rest of his family.

His wife The Invisible Woman (voiced by Jill Talley), his brother-in-law The Human Torch (voiced by Danny Cooksey), his best friend The Thing (voiced by Dave Boat), his robotic assistant H.E.R.B.I.E. (voiced by Laura Bailey), and their children Valeria and Franklin Richards (both voiced by Kari Wahlgren).

However, when introducing his children, the family quickly notices that Franklin is missing.

But as the family start looking for their son, their broadcast is suddenly interrupted by Doctor Doom (voiced by Lex Lang), who reveals that he's kidnapped Franklin in order to his reality-warping powers to conquer the world!

And so, The Fantastic Four are now on a rescue mission, and want the guests to come along and help them.

The ride itself is a 4D ride, being in the veins of the classic Universal Studios Orlando ride: The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera.

The animation for the ride features a mix between 2D and 3D animation, with the characters being the former while the landscapes are in the latter.

The character were designed by the aforementioned Patrick Brown and the animation was done by Walt Disney Animation Studios themselves!

Once guests get themselves seated in the replica of The Fantasti-Car, the ride is able to commence!

The ride starts with The Fantastic Four launching out of The Baxter Building, giving chase to Doom in his rocket through the skies, all while Franklin cries out to his family.

The chase eventually take the two parties down to the streets of New York City, where they have to narrowly dodge civilians and passing cars.

Just when it seems that Doom is gonna get away, he suddenly finds himself caught in a massive spider-web.

Soon enough, Spider-Man (voiced by Josh Keaton) drops in to reveal that he heard about Franklin's kidnapping and came to help!

Unfortunately, Doom is able to break free with an energy burst and thus, the chase continues, with Spidey now joining the four.

Along the way, we see other Marvel heroes looking on at the chase with surprise and shock.

These include Daredevil, Luke Cage, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, The Punisher, Elektra, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, White Tiger, Spider-Woman, Shang Chi, and Doctor Strange.

After some time, Spidey was able to web the back of Doom's rocket and hold him back with his spider strength.

But when it seems that Franklin is finally gonna be saved, Doom opens up a green vortex and flies through it, dragging Spidey along.

And with that, The FF proceed to fly into the vortex to continue the chase.

While flying through it, they notice dinosaur fossils floating all over the place.

Once making out to the other side, The FF quickly find themselves having to avoid a flock of Pterodactyls.

After that, the team find out that they're in The Savage Land

But upon spotting Doom, he unleashes an electrical discharge, causing The Fantasti-Car to short-circuit and plummet to the jungle below.

Luckily, it ends up getting its fall broken by some vines.

The FF inform the group on what's going on and they decide to help them.

And so, the two teams pursue Doom across The Savage Land, avoiding natural obstacles and various dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals.

The chase eventually leads to a the middle of a volcanic mountain range, where they finally have Doom cornered.

But before he even do anything, he's suddenly stopped by a mysterious force.

This turns out to be none other than Magneto (voiced by James Arnold Taylor), being accompanied by The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants: Mystique (voiced by Sumalee Montano), Sabretooth (voiced by Clancy Brown), The Juggernaut (voiced by John DiMaggio), The Blob (also voiced by Fred Tatasciore), Avalanche (voiced James Patrick Stuart), Pyro (voiced by John Kassir), and Toad (also voiced by Danny Cooksey).

Magneto reveals that's he and The Brotherhood have come to rescue Franklin.....so they can take him for themselves.

As you would expect, a brawl breaks out between The X-Men and The Brotherhood, with Spidey also joining in and Franklin constantly being thrown from mutant to mutant.

Doom eventually has enough of all this, and in a fit of rage, he smashes the ground, unleashing a green shockwave while doing so.

As a result of this, the ground begins quake, and soon enough, lava starts shoot from the ground and the volcanos start to erupt.

Everyone immediately start running for their lives, and in the midst of the chaos, Doom is able to capture Franklin again and escapes through another vortex he opens up.

Luckily, The FF (along with Spidey, who finally hitches a ride in The Fantasti-Car) manage to make it to the vortex in time.

While flying through it, they notice the vortex suddenly changing blue and icy runes floating all over the place.

Once making to the other side, the group find themselves in the frozen realm of Jotunheim.

Among arriving, they instantly stumble upon a massive battle raging on between The Avengers and The Frost Giants.

Not only that, but they also find Doom, who's about to fly into the middle of the battle, with them following suite.

While flying through the battle, the two parties witness various scenes.

Black Widow (voiced by Laura Bailey), Hawkeye (voiced by Troy Baker), The Black Panther (voiced by James C. Mathis III), and The Winter Soldier (voiced by Eliah Mountjoy) unleashing a barrage of bullets, arrow and Vibranium energy daggers onto a Frost Giant.

The Scarlet Witch (voiced by Kate Higgins) sending several Giants flying back with a shockwave of chaos energy.

Captain America (voiced by Roger Craig Smith) and Quicksilver (voiced by Yuri Lowenthal) hopping from Giant to Giant, duping them into hitting each other.

The Vision (voiced by David Kaye) knocks down a Giant with his density powers.

Giant-Man (voiced by Matthew Mercer) and The Wasp (also voiced by Kari Wahlgren) tag-teaming on several Giants.

Captain Marvel (voiced by Kim Raver) knocking a Giant down with a ram to the guy.

The Incredible Hulk (also voiced by Fred Tatasciore) launching several Giants into the sky.

And Thor (voiced by Travis Willingham) smiting several Giants with lightning.

Suddenly, Doom's rocket gets knocked away by Iron Man (voiced by Mick Wingert), who managed to rescue Franklin.

As the group thank Iron Man for saving their son, he's suddenly confronted by another man, much to their shock and confusion.

And with that, the Iron Man holding Franklin reveals that he's actually none other Loki (also voiced by Troy Baker) in disguise.

He's then suddenly joined by The Masters of Evil: The Red Skull (also voiced by Liam O'Brien), The Mandarin (voiced by Matthew Yang King), The Leader (also voiced by James Arnold Taylor), Egghead (also voiced by Yuri Lowenthal), The Crimson Widow (voiced by Julie Nathanson), Klaw (voiced by Mark Hamill), and M.O.D.O.K. (voiced by Tom Kenny), all riding in a rocket made by H.Y.D.R.A.

The group reveals that they're taking Franklin to use his reality-warping powers for their villainous schemes.

And so, the chase continues, with Iron Man, Thor, Captain Marvel, Wasp, Scarlet Witch and Vision joining in to help.

They also get joined by Valkyrie (voiced by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn), riding on her Valkyrior Steed.

The chase leads the heroes through a icy cavern, where they have to narrowly avoid falling icicles.

As they start closing in on The Masters of Evil, Invisible Woman and Human Torch start readying themselves for a double psionic-force/fire blast.

Once they're out of the cave, the siblings unleash the blast and send the villains falling, with the former crafted a force-field to catch Franklin.

But just as it seems that Franklin is about to be reunited with his family, Doom comes it to swipe him away and escapes through another vortex, with The FF following him yet again.

While flying through it, they notice the vortex suddenly changing purple and star-like twinkles appearing all over the place.

Once making it to the other side, the group find themselves in the vast reaches of space.

Luckily, Invisible Woman creates force-fields around their heads in order to survive.

However, they start to lose faith themselves, due to how massive space is.

But luck would have it, they run into their old friend, The Silver Surfer (voiced by Laurence Fishburne), who appears to be in quite a hurry.

He reveals that he's also trying to save Franklin, who he saw along with Doom, just a minute ago.

And so, the two parties join each other to save Franklin.

Upon catching up to Doom, he starts blasting at them with energy beams.

And this is made even more hectic when the chase ends up taking everyone into an asteroid field.

As it seems like this chase is just never gonna end, Franklin suddenly comes up with an idea.

With his reality-warping powers, he proceeds to turn Doom into a small planet, rendering him unable to control his rocket.

And with that, Franklin is finally able to escape his clutches and reunite with his family.

The group then thank Surfer for his help as he departs.

As The FF leave to start heading home, Doom vows revenge against them, and he even does so towards the guests as well.

However, he ranting comes to a halt with the sudden appearance of Galactus (voiced by Jonathan Adams), whose looking rather hungry.

As you would expect, Doom immediately starts fleeing for his life.

Back at The Baxter Building, The Fantastic Four and Spider-Man thank the guests for helping them save Franklin and tells them that they hope to see them again.

As guests leave the building, they're suddenly greeted by Deadpool (voiced by Nolan North) via the intercoms, who starts ranting about not being featured in the ride.

Chapter 7: Liberty Square

Chapter Text

Now we've made it to the sixth land of the park, Liberty Square!

One of the two steps back into America's past.

Overall, this land would barely see that much change.

In terms of those changes.

There'll be a new attraction titled The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Named and themed after the legend and segment of the same name from The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, this ride will be an junior roller coaster and Audio-Animatronic ride.

Upon hopping into cars modeled like carriages, guests find themselves being taken into a dark and eerie forest.

While making their way through the forest, a disembodied narrator (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson), details them on the legend of the malevolent spirit, The Headless Horseman.

But once the story finishes, The Headless Horseman himself suddenly appears, laughing maniacally!

And so, the carriages instantly take off and start speeding through the forest.

As the guests are riding/fleeing for their lives, The Headless Horseman keeps intercepting them, leading to make twists and turns.

Luckily, the carriages make it across the bridge near the church of Sleepy Hollow, escaping the wrath of the decapitated spirit.

The land will also see the return of The Muppets Present... Great Moments in American History as it's sole form of entertainment.

The dining is pretty much the same, though The Columbia Harbour House would see the addition of some more seafood and side items such as fried clams, fried oysters, calamari and coleslaw.

And Liberty Tree Tavern would see the addition of baked beans, blueberry pie, Nantucket cranberry pie, Indian pudding, and cranberry juice to its menu.

For shopping, this land will see the return of Olde World Antiques, which sells furniture, art, ceramics, silver, textiles, cooking utensils, lanterns, and tools.

And finally for character greets; We've got The Sensational Six (all dressed in colonial American attire), Ichabod, and The Headless Horseman.

Chapter 8: Frontierland

Chapter Text

Now we're at the seventh land of the park, Frontierland!

The other half of the trip into America's past.

With this refurbishment, this land will be split into five sub-areas.

The first sub-area is Thunder Mesa.

The area is modeled after and themed around the many old Western towns of The American Southwest and The Great Plains.

Specifically the likes of Tombstone, DeadwoodDodge City, Santa Fe, and Tucson.

The town making up this sub-area consists of wooden buildings, Pueblo-style buildings, and colonial Spanish-style buildings.

Here you can find Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, The Diamond Horseshoe, Golden Oak Outpost, Frontier Trading Post, Prairie Outpost and Supply, Frontierland Band, and Frontierland Hoedown Happening.

However in the case of The Diamond Horseshoe, the menu is gonna see a major overhaul!

The establishment now serves steaks (both beef and bison; comes in either ribeye, sirloin, filet mignon, strip, and porterhouse), chuck roast, burgers (both beef and bison; can be topped with either American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise or bacon), ribs (beef and bison), brisket (beef and bison), stew (beef and bison), mashed potatoes and gravy, French fries, baked potatoes, sauteed potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw, corn on the cob, collard greens, garden salad, mixed berry cobbler, mixed berry pie, pecan pie, mixed berry sundae, sarsaparilla, lemonade, root beer, and Pepsi products.

The establishment will also see actual entertainment, including magic shows, ventriloquists, acrobats, storytelling, and of course, can-can dancing.

The sub-area will also see the return of The Frontierland Shootin' Arcade, which will be pretty much unchanged.

This sub-area will see another restaurant in the form of a carryover from Disneyland: Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante.

This version will see a few new menu items including enchiladas (come in either beef or chicken), nachos (beef or chicken), taco salad (beef or chicken), fajitas (steak or chicken), churros with chocolate dipping sauce, flan, sopapillas and cinnamon twists.

There'll also be a new form of entertainment here: Frontera Mariachi, a mariachi band that performs traditional music and mariachi covers of classic Disney songs.

But before we move on, I should quickly bring up this.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe will unfortunately be closed down since.....there's really no point for it.

The second sub-area is Critter Country.

This area is themed as a town inhabited by anthropomorphic animals, and modeled after the wilderness and early settlements of Colorado.

Particularly Fort Collins with the log buildings that make up the area.

Here you can find The Country Bear Musical Jamboree, Westward Ho, Big Al's, and Critter Co-Op.

The sub-area will also see a new attraction in the form of a classic one from Disneyland: The Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland.

The ride is an Audio-Animatronic one, where guests hop aboard an old mining train and take a trip through the wilds of America, all with the narration of an old mining prospector (voiced by Jess Harnell)

The ride will take guests through four different natural environments.

The first is Bear County, a forested valley in The Northwest.

Scenes here include beavers building a dam, a bunch of marmots looking down at guests from a rocky cliffside, a group of painted turtles resting on the shores of a lake, a moose and its young wading through a lake, a flock of geese and ducks resting on the lake, two elks battling each other for mates; a ponderosa pine consisting of various birds and small mammals including woodpeckers, robins, finchs, swallows, sparrows, quails, bald eagles, blackbirds, hawks, spotted owls, pine martens, skunks, squirrels and racoons, a group of black bears scratching themselves up on a bunch of trees, two bighorn sheeps tasting their charging prowess on a boulder, and a group of grizzly bears standing on the edge of a waterfall, trying to catch some jumping salmon.

The second is The Vanishing Prairie, a stretch of grasslands among The Great Plains.

The scenes here include grazing herds of buffaloes, pronghorn antelopes and deer; greater sage grouses, prairie chickens, burrowing owls and mountain plovers peering their heads out of burrows; prairie dogs, gophers and black footed ferrets popping out of holes in the ground, and a pack of wolves of the prowl.

The third is The Living Desert, a portion of The Southwest.

The scenes here include a bobcat being chased up a cactus by a pack of peccaries, a few tortoises and a gila monster basking in desert sun on some rocks, colorful boiling mud pits known as the Devil's Paint Pots and a series of geysers including Old Unfaithful, a bunch of oddly-shaped cacti, a mini boneyard of various dinosaurs fossils, a coyote readying to pounce on an unexpecting roadrunner, a cougar trying to open up a rolled up armadillo, a bunch of rattlesnakes shaking their rattles, jackrabbits peering the heads out of burrows, and a flock of vultures feasting on a the carcass of a deer.

And the fourth and final is Prowler's Murk, a swamp located in The Southeast.

The scenes here include a bunch of bullfrogs sitting on a log, a cottonmouth slithering along a tree branch; a gathering of blue herons, spoonbills and storks, a river otter narrowly avoiding a nasty bite from a snapping turtle, a tree frog resting on the back of a softshell turtle, a family of possums hanging from a tree, a herd of manatees resting in the water, a muskrat getting spit in the face by a bass, a wild hog sniffing around, and a bunch of alligators lounging on the riverbed.

This area also has another restaurant carryover from Disneyland: The Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree.

The third sub-area is Port Orleans.

This sub-area is essentially a scaled-down version of Disneyland's New Orleans Square.

Here you'll find Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Tiana's Bayou General.

This area also has yet another restaurant carryover from Disneyland: Tiana's Palace.

This version will see the addition of a few more type of beignets (those being regular, honey drizzled and chocolate-filled), boudin balls, and bananas foster.

This sub-area will also see yet another Disneyland carryover for its entertainment with Jambalaya Jazz.

The fourth sub-area is Country Creek.

This area is themed around and modeled after riverside towns of The Midwest and The Deep South, specifically those along The Mississippi River, during the 19th century.

Particularly the likes of St Louis, Genevieve, Guttenberg, Natchez, Memphis and Tennessee.

The town itself is made up of buildings of antebellum architecture.

Here you'll find Tom Sawyer's Island.

The sub-area will also see a new attraction in the form of another classic one from Disneyland: The Mark Twain Riverboat.

Essentially serving as the replacement for The Liberty Belle Riverboat.

The sub-area will also see the return of a previous dining establishment: Aunt Polly's Dockside Inn.

The look and style of the restaurant will still be the same, but the menu is gonna see a major overhaul.

The architecture here is essentially a mix between that of Thunder Mesa and Critter County.

This sub-area will feature three attractions (two new and one returning), one form of entertainment, and two dining options.

The returning attraction will be Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes, which will remain unchanged.

The first of the two new attractions is People of The West.

The second new attraction is Dipper and Mabel's Legendary Guide.

This is also a walk-through Audio-Animatronic attraction, but with Dipper and Mabel Pines (voiced again by Jason Ritter and Kristen Schaal) showcasing the many figures and creatures of American folklore.

The creatures include the likes of Bigfoot, The Skinwalker, The Wendigo, The Chupacabra, The Bear Lake Monster, The Mogollon Monster, Dogmen, The Skunk Ape, Tessie, and The Thunderbird.

Chapter 9: Adventureland

Chapter Text

At last we've come to the eighth and final land of the park, Adventureland!

A journey into the far-off, exotic regions of the world!

Just like Frontierland, this refurbishment would see the land being split into five sub-areas.

The first sub-area is Tropical Junction.

This area is modeled and themed after the colonial periods of Africa, South Asia, and Latin America.

However, the buildings inspired by the British and Spanish colonial architecture of those locations are actually very few and far between.

The boat then heads to Asia, sailing along The Mekong River.

This portion takes guests through the ruins of an ancient Cambodian city, once among The Khmer Empire, built right on The Mekong.

The boat then takes guests deeper into the jungle, bringing them to a campsite, which has been raided by animals.

The scenes here include a bunch of gorillas tossing plates around like frisbees, an African elephant trying to paint a portrait on side of one of the tents, a few chimpanzees and vervet monkeys making themselves a massive banana split, with an okapi using its tongue to swipe some sprinkles, a baboon admiring it's....rear in a mirror, and a marabou stork drinking some coffee with its massive beak.

As the boat continues down the river, it suddenly finds it amidst a massive battle between a pod of hippopotamus and a float of crocodiles, which the captain keeps at bay with their gun.

And right before returning to the docks, the boat passes a tribal village, it appears to be holding some kind of party, consisting of people from the various tribes of Central Africa.

Eventually, the guests reach The Chamber of Chaos, where at the center of it lies The Idol of Osiris, a small golden statue of the Egyptian god of the afterlife, the underworld, and the resurrection, atop of a pedestal.

Luckily, Indy uses his classic swticheroo method to grab the idol.

Unfortunately, it didn't work as well as he thought when the booming voice of Set (voiced by Daran Norris), the god of chaos, disorder, deserts, violence, and storms, suddenly starts rumbling through the pyramid.

Set shames Indy and the guests for taking the idol and tells them that they're not gonna be making it out the pyramid with their lives.

And so, the vehicles instantly take off as the entire chamber starts to quake.

But right when the vehicles were about to head back down The Hall of Secrets, the passage gets closed off by falling rumble.

Luckily, Indy points out another passageway on the other side of the chamber.

And so, the vehicles quickly make their way to the passageway, narrowly avoiding falling rumble.

Once making it through, the guests find themselves carefully crossing a stone bridge over a massive chasm.

Unfortunately, Set is about to make things even worse.

He summons strong winds to try and blow the vehicles off the bridge, all while lightning rages on all over the place.

And just as the guests were about to make it across the bridge, it suddenly breaks in half and falls!

Luckily, the front half manages to land on a ledge.

But it's not gonna hold for long.

Fortunately, right up ahead is a passageway, so the vehicles immediately take off down it.

But when it seems like the guests could finally get some relief from the chaos, scarabs suddenly start crawling out of the walls, which Set reveals that he made particularly carnivorous.

And so, the vehicles hightail it out of there!

After that bit of speeding, the vehicles arrive in The Warriors Tomb, a tomb filled with the sarcophaguses of ancient warriors.

Suddenly, the sarcophaguses start to open and soon enough, the warriors (now mummified) pop up, having been brought back to life.

The mummified warriors look at the guests with angered looks as they hold khopeshs in their hands, looking like they're planning on using them.

Not wanting to stick around to see if they do, the vehicles speed off once again.

After some right twists and turns down hallways, the vehicles arrive in a room that's just a dead-end.

Just as they were about to head out, the guests see the exit being blocked-off by rumble.

Set announces that he finally has them trapped and there's no escape.

Soon enough, the room starts failing up with sand, ensuring that the guests will be buried alive.

Just as it seems all hope is lost, a hole in the ceiling suddenly bursts open, with none other than Indy popping up on the scene.

He reveals that he had found another passageway out of the pyramid and quickly grabbed some dynamite from the nearby base camp in order to make a way for the guests to escape.

And with that, the vehicles are finally able to leave the pyramid.

One scene from this section includes some divers finding some treasure in a pirate ship getting into a tug-of-war with an octopus.

Out next destination is beneath The South Pole, where we find ourselves navigating through a field of iceberg bottoms, marveling at the strange sea creatures that reside where the sun doesn't shine, and of course, running into a giant squid.

We then arrive at the sunken ruins of the fabled lost city, Atlantis, which is now swarming with mermen and mermaids.

But soon enough, we find ourselves having to surface when an series of undersea volcanoes start to go off.

But if that wasn't bad enough, we also have to avoid the likes of sharks, Pterodactyls, and a fight between an Ichthyosaurus and a Plesiosaurus.

But before we could even dwell on that, we find ourselves having to flee from a stampeding herd of mastodons.

Luckily, we manage to escape the stampede by taking shelter in a cave.

Unfortunately, the trembling caused by the stampede results in a cave-in.

As we search for a way out, we notice that cave starting to get hotter and hotter.

Soon enough, lava starts to shoot out of the ground. And it’s at that moment when we realize we’re in the middle of an erupting volcano!
