Chapter 1
Danny managed to save everyone, but everything has its price. GIW's actions have caused damage that is beyond the boy's comprehension and unfortunately, he will find out now...
“Hello Daniel, it seems that the day has finally come,” says the time elder with his usual enigmatic manner.
“Clockwork, what is happening? Why is the city's action disappearing!?”
The elder sighs: “Daniel, as you know, every action has its reaction, that's how balance works. The human group called GIW has managed to cause a lot of damage to your city; unfortunately, not all the damage can be repaired and your current dimension is losing the strong connection it has with the realms.”
“... What? How can I live without the presence of ectoplasm!? Will I still have access to the realms?” The boy questioned the time elder in panic.
The elder of time sighs, “Oh, young Daniel, as soon as the connection returns to normal, all excess ecto will disappear, thus rendering any being or object that needs ecto ineffective, any entity that remains in the dimension will slowly die from lack of ecto.” The elder Danny replied with his neutral voice.
“That seemed to make the young man freeze,* what!? It’s not possible, what am I going to do?!” The boy’s panic only increased.
“Daniel, you know that I can’t act, my job is only to observe and ensure the correct functioning of time, so this will be my last help to you on this matter. You know that you are adopted, but contrary to what you think, your origins do not come from this dimension but from another, a series of accidents that are not for me to talk about, made you end up in this dimension. You, Dan and Danielle must return to your home dimension, meet with the other two halfas and come back here with a decision.
The time elder transforms into his baby form and disappears from the place, leaving Danny alone with his thoughts.
Danny still doesn't know how to react to everything, ghosts, time travel, dimensions, now he finds out he's from another dimension? This only makes him more certain that somewhere there is someone messing with his life, because he's sure that no one else has a life as fucked up and complicated as his.
Danny starts flying towards the portal that would take them out of the realms, he doesn't know what he's going to do. Stay and die a possibly slow death next to his family or leave?
Leaving the realms, Danny finds himself back at home, with his friends and family waiting for him.
Apparently, Dante is already awake. After the separation of Dante and Vlad's souls, they managed to find a new container for Dante's soul. In Plasmus' laboratory, there were bodies of clones of Danny who failed because they never managed to get their own soul. Dan's soul fit like a glove, but this caused changes in his body. Dan's hair now has white streaks and his eyes became heterochromatic, one eye blue like Danny's and the other red like Plasmus'.
This scared everyone, especially Dan, who thought he still had remnants of Vlad's soul in him. However, after a visit to Frostbite, the Yeti reassured them. The separation of souls was carried out, but the fusion changed Dan's core. The core, which was previously made of ice, is now made of fire and ice. The Yeti also warned them that Dan's body would take a while to connect with his soul, making him more tired than usual. Dan had to sleep and consume almost twice as much ectoplasm for a while, and this was non-negotiable. Meanwhile, the part of Vlad's soul that had joined with Dan was unable to stay alive after the separation. Frostbite told them that it had been dead for a long time. The only thing that kept it connected to Dan was the very strong negative emotions that Vlad's soul emitted. It was practically a parasite. The Vlad of this dimension is currently trapped in the Oblivion Dimension, a place in the realms where the worst criminals are sent. There was a vote among the council members, because it was never recorded that a halfa was sentenced to such a thing, but Vlad had no escape, his crimes were not light at all.
Waking the tyrant king from his sleep, trying to ascend the throne against the will of the kingdoms and joining a human organization that aimed at the ruin of the kingdoms.
No one knows what really happens there, some ghosts say that it is where criminals relive all the bad things they have done in a kind of eternal time loop, the only way out being sincere repentance. Others say that it is a place of pain and suffering, but no one seems to have a definitive version of the place.
Danny comes to when he hears his name being called.
“Danny, what’s going on? Did you get anything from Clockwork?” Sam asks him.
Looking at everyone in the room, Danny notices the looks of hope they have, this only makes his heart hurt more, but he knows he will have to tell.
Returning to his human form, he begins to speak, "Things are worse than we imagined. The ectoplasm in this dimension is ending. GIW has caused a lot of damage to the balance. Soon, this dimension will lose its strong connection with the kingdoms. This will cause the ectoplasm to weaken until it disappears, making it so that the beings dependent on the ectoplasm will no longer be able to survive here." Danny finishes speaking with a shaky sigh.
"But what will happen to you, Dan, and Ellie?" Jazz asks him with a shaky voice.
"We'll have to go to my original dimension, according to Clockwork. From his words, I belong to this dimension, but he didn't say anything else."
This seemed to make a mood of sadness rise in the air.
Then his parents started to cry, “Oh my God Danny, son, we are so sorry. If we hadn’t started this stupid research your life wouldn’t be this way.” His mother spoke with her voice full of genuine sadness.
“I’m sorry, son, we were horrible parents for a long time. We hunted you and other ghosts, God, we treated you like animals, we forgot about our children because of a stupid research, forgive us for everything son!” His father spoke in his usual energetic way, but everyone could see his sadness written all over his face and in every word.
“It's okay, I'm also partly to blame for everything, I should never have entered the portal, and before you guys talk,” Danny turned to his friends who already had guilty looks, “it's not your fault,” Sam wanted to protest but Danny spoke again, “I entered the portal of my own free will, no one forced me, I know it was a challenge, but I could have refused, but I didn't, so I'm also to blame.” Danny ends up looking at his friends who are already crying.
Turning towards his sister he says, “Jazz, don't even try to blame yourself for anything, you're the best sister I could have asked for, you were practically a mother to me, always being there when I needed you without complaining, always open to talking to me. You were there in my best and worst moments, thank you.” Danny said already crying as he hugs his sister who is also in tears.
Everyone joins in a group hug, except Dante who tries to maintain his indifference, but everyone can see that he was also affected by everything.
“So, original dimension huh?” Tucker tries to lighten the mood with his touch of humor.
Yes, I still have no idea what it’s like, but I also don’t know if I want to go.
“What do you mean? You’re going! Danny, I wish there was some chance for you guys to stay and for everything to end well, but if this is your only chance you have to go, you deserve all the happiness wherever it is.” His sister spoke again, alarmed.
“I don’t know Jazz, how can I leave knowing that I’ll never speak to or see you again?!” Danny asked her back with a shaky voice
*Even despite the distance we'll always be friends man, and we have the Fenton phones, we can always communicate no matter where you are.” Tucker encouraged him.
“Stop being sentimental, idiot. We'll always be friends, but he's right, you have to go. You deserve to be happy.” The goth girl says trying to convey an air of confidence.
Dante begins to feel the lack of ecto in the environment getting stronger, “Danny, we have to go.” Dan says as he goes towards the crib next to Danny's bed where baby Ellie was sleeping.
It was Danny remembering how they almost lost her when her core was destabilizing, Frostbite managed to restore her almost at the last moment, but this made her regress turning her into a baby, the yeti told them that this way she will grow and her core will accompany her growth avoiding any future risks.
Jazz hands us two thermoses before we leave. “I know you probably won’t be able to take much from here, but I think it’s always good to have this for emergencies.” His sister finishes by kissing him and Dante on the forehead and Ellie on the forehead, awakening a melancholy in Dante.
“Take this with you,” Tucker says as he hands them a flash drive. “Insert this into any computer and your new identities will be registered in the database anywhere.
After that, they both leave full of goodbyes and promises for a new tomorrow.
