Turning in merits can make you rich, but that's not what they're doing it for (most of the time, anyway). When a handful of the population is super-powered, there are those who utilize their abilities in the protection and service of others. Their good efforts are regulated and rewarded by the Registry, an entity striving to maintain balance and peace while compensating heroes putting their lives on the line. Life can be pretty sweet, if you're registered.
But where there is light there is shadow, and not all that is good Is what it seems.
Rangi Sei'naka is familiar with the tragedies and triumphs of heroism, and knows a disaster in the making when she sees it. When she and her mother relocate for work, she encounters her biggest disaster yet: The Revenant Doll, an unregistered Super who appears to run nonstop into danger despite all her broken pieces.
Spurred into action by growing concern, Rangi's attempts to make a proper hero out of the Doll are flatly rebuked. What is the Revenant's angle? And why is she - the most heroic woman Rangi's ever met - so averse to the Registry, anyway?
