Chapter Text

The alarm sounded and Sirius groaned

Sitting up and rubbing his eyes he realised his curtains were closed. I definitely don't remember doing that. Pushing them aside he stood on his feet and looked around. Both Peter and James were still asleep. The fourth bed seemed empty and the bathroom door opening at that moment confirmed that.

  "Good morning."

"Morning..." Sirius said making his legs move despite the difficulty.

Passing past Remus he took his turn in the bathroom. He put his hair in a low ponytail, washed his face and looked in the mirror, starting to whisper to himself.

"First day. I got this I- oh who am I even kidding" he cried falling with his back on door and taking a big breath.

"Just make it past today. Tomorrow's problem for the future."

After a not-so-little panic session, he went outside. Peter and James were up and getting ready. James was wearing his iconic red hoodie -despite the still hot weather- and some sweatpants. "They are so comfortable!" he would whine every time some said something about the heat. Peter was in a purple T-shirt and was trying really hard to brush his hair in a way that would look half-way decent.

"Good morning Sirius! We have to leave now, or we will be late for breakfast!" Said James while searching for his ballet slippers.

Looking around Sirius realised that Lupin was nowhere in sight.

  "Did Remus leave?"

"He said that the headmistress wanted to talk to him"

  "Is that so?"

Raising his now found slippers in the air like a champion did with his award, James took Sirius and Petter by their wrists and pulled them, leaving the room empty once again.

The campus was a five-minute walk from the dorms. So, within a few moments they were in the dinning hall stuffing their mouths with everything they could reach.

"Did you hear that Mr. Slughorn will take a leave of absent for the first two weeks of school?" Asked James.

"What?!" Peter said with a full mouth, almost choking on his cereal.

"Yes they say there was a family issue and that he would come back after it's resolved"

"Well I won't say no to two weeks without Chemistry" smirked Sirius.

"Art school my ass! Why do we even have normal subjects when we obviously only focus on our chosen ones!" cried Peter.

"Probably because It's still a school" laughed Sirius.

Glancing over at the entrance, he saw Remus walking in. He looked around and then made his way to the buffet section.

"Hey, Remus" yelled Sirius, his voice echoing across the whole hall. Everyone turned to look. Sirius was always like that. Loud. He didn't care about it though and as long as his parent weren't aware of his behaviour at school he didn't have a problem with it.

Remus flinched and turned around, confused for a second until he spotted him.

  "Come sit with us!"

Making his way across, Remus sat down next to Sirius and opposite of Peter.

"So what happened in the office?" James started.

"Just told me about the school rules. There was a girl there that showed me the way here. She seemed nice"

"Oh who? Is she in our year?"

"Er- probably" he answered picking on his food, "she was definitely our age. She had ginger hair. I think her name was a flower. What was it... Rose? Tu-"

"LILY!" Said James loud enough for a few tables to turn. He looked rather red, covering his mouth like he said something criminal. "Lily." he said again, quieter.

  "Oh yes that one"

"Hoho! Jackpot! You see my dear Remus" said Sirius playfully raising his eyebrows and putting his arm around the other's shoulder, "James here has a MASSIVE crush on her for the past 3 years"

"Hey! You can't just say that to everyone we meet!"

"We'll be sharing a room with this one anyways, he might as well know." Smirked Sirius.

"Fine." Said James leaning back to his chair.

"Don't worry I won't be telling her." Remus looked up from his plate.

"Oh he isn't worried about that. The whole school knows anyway." Peter explained. Remus glanced toward Sirius.

"Hey! It's not my fault! He is the one confessing his love once a month!"

The day went on without much trouble. He went to his general classes with Remus, which was a nice change since he was used to being alone (because apparently it was necessary to split the students into 2 groups based on their surnames. From A to L and M to Z). They walked mostly in silence, which wasn't as awkward as Sirius would've expected. When they reached the classroom and opened the door a voice was heard.

"Sirious! There you are! I was thinking you would never show up." There stood a tall girl with shining black skin covered in a fair amount of glitter.

"Mary! There's my favourite friend" Sirius smirked.

"Don't let James hear you say that, we'll both be in trouble" Mary finally looked towards Remus.

  "So who's this beauty?"

"Oh yeah, Mary, this is Remus. Remus, Mary" he said pointing to them both.

  "Nice to meet you"

"You too. You look like someone who could draw"

  "Well, I can" smiled Remus.

"Is that right? Oi! Marlene, I found you a classmate you can actually tolerate! Probably..." Mary said turning to a dyed blonde girl. The girl came over before extending her hand.

  "Hi, I'm Marlene"

  "Remus"

Right at that moment, a teacher walked inside pausing the conversation that was about to start.

"Good morning. Open your books to the introduction. I want you to remember that this year, 'history of art V' will be way more complicated than the previous years." Said Professor Bins.

After a double period of art history and one of math, Sirius and Mary made their way to their first acting class of the year.

"Did you do any study over the summer?" Asked Mary.

"...yeah" Sirius admitted, "but it was better than last summer."

  "I'm sorry"

  "Can't do anything 'bout it"

  "I'm still sorry" she frowned.

"Hey, it's okay. That just means that in our year's play we will once again get the leads together. We'll be protagonists! And it will be better, because last year's "Romeo and Juliet was really fucking bad"

Mary laughed "Yeah! And I really hope this year James won't prank us by switching the water in the poison bottle with Vodka. I nearly choked!"

"So, class", said professor ... "with the start of the lesson I want you to know that this semester's play will be 'a midsummer's dream' "

Sirius turned to Mary while the professor continued to explain the plot point and the roles.

"Think we'll be Oberon and Titania?"

"I mean probably?" Marys shrugged "Won't your parents want you to be Robin though?"

"Ha! Never! It has more line than Oberon, but it is still a role model they won't want me to have no matter what. Despite that I still think I will be getting a call from them to get it confirmed"

And just like that, after the acting lesson, while heading to the great hall, he was asked to go to the principal's office. The office was a big room, almost the size of an average classroom and was painted a burgundy colour. Sirius walked to the secretary's desk.

  "I heard I have received a call?"

"Yes Mr Black here" she said handing over the phone.

"Thanks Philippa" Sirius took the phone. "Hello"

"Hello Sirius. We got the news for the play. I assume you already know who you should be auditioning for, right? If you don't, then I shall tell you that you mother expects to hear that you will be playing Oberon"

"Yes father. I know. That was my plan."

"Good. Have a nice day Sirius"

  The line went silent.

"Thanks again Philippa" he handed over the phone.

Sirius walked out of the office with a determined look.

Oberon: A king. Jealous. Someone who want everything for himself, even if it means hypnotizing your wife.

Sirius Orion Black is like that. He wants it all. He will do anything to have everything in order. Even if it means losing himself in the progress.

Notes:

I know I said longer chapters, but exams ARE KILLING ME.
And, again, I'll propably be updating after the 6th of June.
Hope you enjoyed it!

Notes:

Hi :)
So this idea came to me while reading history of theatre and thought "huh"
SO here it is. I really hope I can update this regularly, BUT I am a busy person.
English is NOT my first language as you can probably tell, but I AM trying.
This will be a slowburn and I am planning to make way bigger chapters.
This will start getting updated after 6th of June cause of exams :P
Thanks for reading <3

Ps: I base this school of how actual art schools work in my country which means:
-To get in you have to pass exams (or have an in somehow)
-It consist 3 courses of which you can take one: either acticng, dancing or art. NOT music, these are different schools.
