To wish upon a star

Summary:

It's been even years after the time Tommy lost his final life. Michael has been living a hard life, at least that's what runs through his head while sitting on the roof.

Chapter 1: A start

Chapter Text

It was another night for an almost 14 year old Michael. Well, if you call the people you used to see as parents fight with each other normal.
He covers his ears with his pillow, biting back a whimper. He can still slightly hear them.
“-o get out of m-”
“-his is m-”
“ays the one scared o-”
“- and you with fireworks li-”
“-n’t bring th-”
“-en get out of yo-”
“-’m busy w-”
“-ust come ou-”
“-o!”
There is more yelling and then comes something that makes Michael freeze. A sickening, and echoing loud
s m a s h.
At this Michael finally breaks down. The tears are flowing down his face. He curls up into a tight ball.
He hears two sets of stomping feet go past his room. One stumbling and the other at a quick pace. He sees a few red drops in front of his door and cries harder.
He wishes he were at his uncle's. He was always nice, never yelled. He never made him fear for a beer bottle being thrown at him.
Michael slowly gets out of bed and climbs to the roof. This isn't the first time he's been there, and it won't be the last, not yet. He can't bring himself to yet.
He stares at the dark sky, the only lights are the stars and moon. The wind blows against him. It brings a cold chill, one he finds comfort in. It starts to dry the tears, only for more to replace the old ones.
He then feels it, it starts with one drop, then a slow fall. It's raining. The universe is crying for the boy, and he remembers his uncle saying this, “After every rain comes a rainbow, after every cry a laugh comes later.”
He remembers asking why the rainbow appeared if it would only rain later, in response he said this, “ why sleep if you're going to wake up later? Why try if you could fail? Why forgive if you're only going to hate later? Why be happy if you're going to be sad?”
Michael didn't know how to answer, his uncle gave him a sad smile before continuing, “ One of the reasons for being happy is because you're gonna be sad later, you know things could, or would, go downhill. Without joy there is no sadness, without sadness there's no joy, they need each other to exist.”
The rain starts to fall harder, and Michael takes it as a cue to leave. As he walks back to the window he feels a hand on his shoulder, and a whisper of comfort. He turns around to see no one. After one last look around, he climbs through the window.
He walks towards his door after closing the window. The door creaks as it opens, Michael carefully walks to the stairs. He avoids the creaky tiles and steps.
He smells them before he sees them, the alcohol's stench drafts in the air as Michael starts working. He puts away the unopened ones and throws away the empty or opened ones. He doesn't hide them due to Michael knowing his father would find them in the morning.
When he goes up the stairs he finds his father's office door open, inside is his father slouched down on his chair and sleeping. Michael pulls a blanket over him and turns off the light.
He walks over to the room next to the office and into his father's and Dad's room. His Dad has a journal and pen in his hands, Michael slowly takes them out of his grip and sets them down on the bedside table. He covers his Dad the best he could before closing the door.
He stops for a second before walking to his room. He can't remember the last time his parents talked without it escalating into an argument.
A numb feeling washes over Michael as he stares at a photo of them together. He felt something falling down his face, he recognized them as tears. They fall silently, the only sound is the occasional sniffling filling the hallway.
He walks into the room and turns his gaze to the window, staring at the glass like it would give him answers. He lies down on his bed, still looking through the window.
The exhaustion starts to kick in and he finally drifts off to an uneasy sleep.

Chapter 2: Feelings

Chapter Text

Tommy is standing on the roof of his best friend’s home, well ex-best friend now. They fell apart a while ago, he needs to let this go. Tommy tears up, he knows he’s not needed now but he never thought that it would hurt this much. He didn’t think it would feel like he was missing half of his soul, like it hurt to exist without Tub’s.
If only he didn’t burn down George's house, or be difficult like he used to be. If he just stayed in line none of this would have happened. Michael wouldn’t be having a horrible home life, Ran and Tub’s wouldn’t be fighting all the time. No, Ranboo and Tubbo, they’re not friends anymore. And now they will never be.
He left his kids with Puffy, maybe she’ll cry when she finds the note. She probably won’t though. Nobody cares anymore. She’ll probably celebrate and share the happy news, then it will be a holiday. It’ll be “The day the brat died” day. Everyone would be so happy and joyous.
Tommy pulled out a knife, stepped closer to the edge and put the knife to his throat. He smiles, yet he’s crying harder. Why can’t he do it? Everybody would be happy. Nobody wants him anymore. He’s useless. He then hears somebody climbing up to the roof. He looks back and sees Michael climbing up to him. He wipes his tears and clears his throat.

Chapter 3: Comfort

Chapter Text

The next night he sees his Uncle on the roof before he gets there, but not the roof in front of his window, but on the actual top of the mansion. From what he can tell, Uncle Tommy is near the edge and is holding something.
As Michael climbs up, his uncle slips the object to his pocket, he must have noticed him. “Hello?” Michael asks.
“Hi,” his Uncle says, his voice hoarse like he’s been crying. “What are you doing here?”
“I could say the same.” Michael responds.
His Uncle smiles, “Just wanted to visit, wanna talk?”
Michael thinks for a moment before smiling a bit, “Sure.”
For a while they talk, joke and laugh. Michael feels happy, happier than he’s been in a while. But then things took a turn for the worst, they started arguing, well his Uncle was trying to calm him down while he was yelling.
“You don’t understand, you never will!” He yells.
“Mike, please calm down.”
“No! Shut up! You don’t understand! You have never been through what I have!”
“Starlight, please.”
“You might’ve been friends with them but I have to live with them!”
“Please calm down,”
“You don’t know what It feels like to see the one you love most turn on you!”
“Please,”
“Why do you even care! I’m not worth it!”
“Mike-”
“You should leave me alone! I’m a burden!”
“Don’t-”
“I’m a fucking wast of space! I’m worthless! A lost cause! I’m a burden on everyone! Nobody wants me around! They pretend so I won't feel left out!”
“Ok, Michael Shut up.”
Michael fell silent after that. He’s never seen his uncle raise his voice, especially at him. He feels the fear running through his veins.
“You are not a burden, you're not a waste of space, people want you around, you're worth it.” His uncle says in a soft voice, the opposite of what it was before, though it still has a bit of an edge to it.
Michael feels a weight lift from his shoulders. He smiles and starts to cry, his uncle opens his arms and he runs into them.
“Shhh, it's ok, cry it out starlight, cry it out.”
As Michael continued to cry, his uncle started to sing.
“I heard there was a special place,”
His tears start drying up.
“Where men could go and emancipate,”
He hears his uncle's slow heartbeat.
“The brutality and tyranny of their ruler,”
The wind blows against them.
“Well, this place is real, we needn't fret,”
His uncle blocks it from hitting him.
“With Wilbur, Tommy, Tubbo, fuck Eret,”
He hears the waves.
“It's a very big and not blown-up, L'Manberg,”
They slowly crash against the icebergs.
“My L'Manberg,”
He sees the stars.
“My L'Manberg,”
They shine brightly in the night.
“My L'Manberg,”
He feels warm inside.
“My L'Manberg,”
Like the sun is shining down on him.
“Well, our faith was strong within these walls,”
He hears the owls hooting and the crickets buzzing.
“A sanctuary that would never fall,”
It helps slow his beating heart.
“The beauty of this landscape overthrew ya,”
He starts to feel sleepy.
“He made his throne and betrayed our land,”
He fights it.
“But wе still stand strong and we hold our hands,”
His eyelids start to flutter.
“And from here I can see my L'Manbеrg,”
He forces them open.
“Oh, my L'Manberg,”
It gets harder to.
“My L'Manberg,”
His eyes slip close.
“My L'Manberg,”
His breathing slows.
“My L'Manberg.”
And, he’s asleep.

Chapter 4: Not yet

Chapter Text

Tommy got back home after setting Michael down on his bed. He walked through the door and took his shoes off, setting them on the floor next to the door.
He walked to the kitchen, then to the refrigerator. He saw the note he left folded up and clipped onto the fridge door. He looked down and had a quick glance at it.
‘To whoever’s reading this, I am dead. I know, the brat that was always the pain in the ass for everyone is dead. You must be happy, but on the small chance you're sad, don’t be. Just celebrate with the others. I’m in a better place now. I’m sorry, but I can’t do this anymore.
If you look in behind the mirror in the room with the desk there will be notes for everybody on the server. So, if you could, I would like you to send the notes to them, their names should be on the envelope. The door is red with a golden door knob. The door can be located if you go all the way down the halfway and you look behind the painting of a sunken ship. The painting will swing open if you push the black button on the wall. The key for the door is in the purple box near one of the corners of the room.
Do not open the envelopes. Only give them out and then open yours. Make sure the kids are loved. Do NOT let Dream out of that prison. Give Dream the letter with his name on it. Do not give him my corps. I don’t want to come back. I won’t come back.
Thank you and I’m sorry,
Tommy.’
Tommy walked to the painting, pushed the button and put the note on the wall. Then, he went to sleep.

Chapter 5: Truth

Chapter Text

When he wakes up, there's silence. He notices he’s in his bed, not on the roof. He slipped out of bed and changed clothes before walking downstairs. As expected, nobody is down there. He shifts through the cabinets and fridge before deciding on a sandwich.
As he starts to eat he looks outside, it's sunny out. He expects his father to have a hangover and his Dad to just sleep through the day.
He writes on a piece of paper that he's going out, he walks to the front doors.
Unlike usual, there is no snow on the ground and the weather is nice and sunny, so he doesn't need to wear any winter gear to go out.
Michael walks around for a while until he reaches the ocean. Instead of turning around like usual, he crafts a boat and rows through the water.
As he rows the boat, he thinks about his family. He wonders when it all went to shit. Was it because of him? Did he cause the divide between his parents?
He heard stories from others on how happy they were before him. Hell, even his parents admitted that they were happier before him.
Why do they still keep him around? Did they just forget about him? Or do they keep him around for him to act as a weapon to the other.
He can recall the many times his parents asked him to guilt trip the other or use him as messenger between them both.
As Michael sinks further into asking himself why until he hits land. It jolts him out of his thoughts as he collides with the land. He stays there for a second, frozen in shock.
The land at first looks like a normal beach. From the boat all he can see is sand, Michael considered turning back before he spotted a bit of wood in the sand.
He climbs out of the boat and wanders to the bit of wood. It looks like it's from a poll or something. He continues to wander around, finding bits and pieces of wood, not bothering to look up.
After a while he sees green. Michaels eyes lit up as he rushed to the grass. That's when he first sees it, it's just a bit away from where he's standing. It was one of many craters. When Michael walked closer he spotted a photo. He grabs it to look at later. He also sees a diary, somehow not burnt.
The whole place looks depressing in Michaels opinion. He takes a rest at a tent he found. It was raggedy and the bed was barely held together.
At this point he had been walking around for about two hours.
Michael puts the photos and diary in his inventory before continuing on. The place is all blown up and distracting to Michael. So it's no surprise when he accidentally knocked onto something.
He takes a look and it seems to be a pillar. He walks several steps back, continuing to look up. ‘ A suicide spot’ he thinks. Behind him he hears a voice speak, “Not that pretty aye?”
He recognized the voice to be his uncle's. And something in the way he said it triggered Michael.
“Why the fuck aren't you feeling bad! Somebody probably died here!”
In response his uncle only laughed. This only made Michael angrier. “ Trust me no one died by it.”
“How would you know!! This is serious!! Why the fuck would you laugh at that!! You know I thought of doing it! You have no idea how I feel! You've never been through anything hard!” Michael screams, feeling betrayed at his uncle's actions.
“Well for starters, I'm still alive and kicking so that's how I know,”
“What?”
“And secondly, yes I have, if I told you anything of what happened you would be far more suicidal.”
“What do you mean!?” Michael thinks for a moment before realizing, “ wait… so you lived here and jumped!!!!” The only answer he gets is a smile before his uncle walks off.
Micheal stands there stunned. He didn't know his uncle was suicidal, more so than himself. After a bit of thinking he walks over to his boat to get back home. Before he gets in though, he sees a note, “Don’t feel too bad- Uncle Tommy”. He smiles softly, that's definitely his uncle.

Weeks pass after that. It's the same routine as usual but Michael feels strange. The fights still happen but he can't get his mind off of the place.
So, one night as he stares at the diary and photos, he grabs the diary to read.
As he reads through he almost immediately finds that it is written by his uncle. It shares memories before he was there and the hell of what was happening at the time. He finds that the main person who hurt him was unnamed. It described the guy with a white smiley face mask.
Michael knew from both his parents that the masked man was bad. He figured that he must be really bad if both of them agreed on a subject for once.
He knew that there was an incident with this guy and his uncle 7 years ago, around the time he was adopted by his parents. Speaking of his uncle, he doesn't look like he's aged at all. He's 24 but looks like he's a fucking 17 year old! What beauty products does he use!!!!
The only thing that makes him look old is the white streak in his hair. Michael doesn't talk about it because of the uncomfortable look he has when it's brought up.
The masked man is in prison now, a place he hopes the guy stays. He knows the man hurt his uncle. He still remembers that sleepover 5 years ago…
It was dark out when it happened. Michael was sleeping peacefully until he woke up with the sound of sobbing.
He opens his eyes and sees his uncle with clouded eyes wet with tears. Michael gets up and walks towards his uncle. He lightly touches him and his uncle flinches.
“I'm sorry Dream! I didn't mean it! I won't leave! Please! I-I-I’m sorry! Please don't kill me!”
His uncle says some other things about Dream and not wanting Dream to hurt him. He once mentioned Micheal in his terrified ramblings. Begging the man not to harm his nephew, to hurt him instead.
It took a while for him to realize he wasn't there. When he did he spoke shaky, “Mike?” After a bit of hugging they both fell asleep.
Whoever Dream is, Michael doesn't want to cross paths with him. But, if he does, he will try to kick Dreams ass for hurting his uncle.
He closed the book and looked out the window. The stars are clear In the sky, his uncle says they are all little angels watching over him to keep him safe.
Michael thinks that he's wrong, if they were angels, why haven't they helped him? Why haven't they saved him from the mess of his family and the constant fighting.
Instead, he thinks they look like little diamonds floating in the sky. They shine with hope and gratitude of others, showering the sky in a beautiful light, the people with love, and the promise of riches.
He tries to fall asleep with the stars. He finds that he can't. His uncle's words echoing in his head.
“Well for starters I'm still alive and kicking so that's how I know,”
His Happy go lucky uncle, suicidal. He can't even picture it. He also remembered his uncle saying that if he told him why he would feel worse. He originally thought that it was bulshit, but after reading the diary he’s not sure.
He still can’t sleep. So, he gets off of his bed and walks towards his window. The sky is still clear out, no rain in sight. The window opens, the night air floods into the room.
He walks onto the roof, he can’t describe the temperature, it's cold, but warm at the same time. He looks at the twinkling beams of light, and, for the first time in a while, he feels at peace.
He continues to stare at the sky as his eyelids start to drop, he fights it, trying to stay awake. Eventually, he succumbs to his tiredness as he drifts off, and over him, a shooting star races across the sky.

Chapter 6: Nightmare

Chapter Text

He’s running. He doesn’t know where or how it started but he knows something would happen if he stops. He feels the cold snow on his bare feet and the branches digging into his flesh. The wind is howling and smacking his body.
He hears footsteps through the snow, he runs faster. The figure chasing him says his name,
“Come here @##^^%&%^*&, N O W!”
When the figure says his name everything turns all static and his vision blurs. He stumbles, knocking into one of the trees. It lessens after a while, though his vision still swims and his stomach is imploding.
An axe cuts through the woods and hits the tree, it lands right above him. With that, he continues running. The wind picks up, he doesn’t know how, but he knows the figure is right behind him.
“Oh@##^^%&%^*&,”
The figure’s closer, almost like they're speaking directly into his ear. His hairs are standing on end, but, he keeps running. His legs are aching, his lungs are burning. If he stops, he’s dead, he knows this.
He reaches an opening in the woods, he no longer hears the footsteps that were chasing after him. It's quiet, too quiet. He continues to walk, the crunch of the snow echoing across the forest clearing.
He tenses up again, something is definitely wrong. But he realized too late, before he blacks out the figure says this,
“Say hello to $¢h|@TT for me.”

He bolts up in his bed, his heart is pounding and he's sweating. He tries to remember what he was dreaming about but can't. He was running, maybe? How did he end up in bed when he fell asleep on the roof? Eh, who cares.
He gets change and gets a message on his com and checks it .

Chapter 8: A plan

Chapter Text

The lava is sweltering, but a certain demon and masked man talk.
“I'm assuming you don't know why I'm here, do you?” The demon asked.
The masked man laughs manically before responding, “ I don't, it must have been at least a year I've been in here, so I must be out of the loop.”
The demon laughs shortly, “Wow, isolation really did a number on you, didn't it?”
The masked man snarls, “You wouldn't know how horrible it's been alone, even Quackity and Sam left.”
“Well then, let me enlighten you, it's been seven years.”
The mask man freezes, “ It couldn't have been that long, you're lying!” He lunges at the demon but the demon just steps back
“I don't think it's wise to try and harm the person who knows what's going on outside, is it?”
“Stop belittling me!” The mask man snarls.
The demon smirks, “Now, I would love to make a deal with you, you join the Eggpire, and we will get you anything.”
“Anything?”
“Except for a way out of this prison of course.”
The mask man snarls before thinking,“Fine, I'll join.”
“Who do you want?”
“I think you already know.”
“Alright, we already know a way to get him here, and with this plan, you'll have more company.”
“Alright then.”
“Pleasure making business with you, Dream.”
“Same to you, Bad.”

Chapter 9: Taken

Chapter Text

As per what he said, he started to walk over to the bridge after he got ready. It's snowing out while he walks.
Eventually, he makes it and he sees the spider. Shroud’s wearing a maroon zip up coat with a black tank top. All of this customized to fit his extra arms. He's also wearing gray jeans with brown combat boots.
“Hey there Pall!” Shroud says after notices him.
“Hey Shrou, how are you?”
“ I'm good, Dads, been the fuck’n best!”
Michael smiles, “That's great dude!”
They start walking around the main SMP just talking about random stuff, both laughing and smiling.
Eventually, they see Clementine walk in, she's wearing baggy black and purple cargo pants with black heels. For a shirt, she wears a blackish grey sleeveless sweatshirt.
As she sees them, she runs up and greets them. “Sup fellas!”
“Hey Clem, how's your day been?”
“Amazing!!! I'm currently trying to learn piano with Puffy!”
“How long?”
“About three years!!! I'm doing so well at it!!!!!”
“That's great! I'm glad that you're learning!”
They all start walking together. The landscape changes as they walk. Not noticing the figure following them.
“Soooo, how are you doing on the homework dad assigned Mike?”
“Eh…. I don't know. I think I'll get a 90 on the test.”
“Pretty much the same for us.” Shroud responds.
The figure continues to follow, getting closer.
“That's great! Then after that we can try to convince Dad to buy us ice cream!”
Another figure starts to follow, slowly closing in like the other.
“That's one of the best ideas you've ever had, Clem.”
Another, now three following.
“Hey! Shut it Shrou! Mike agrees, right?”
They get closer, but not close enough to be known.
“Who said I was on either of your sides?”
The three figures nod their heads, ready to do their job.
“Fuck you man I-hey!”
Each of the men put a cloth on each of the kids' faces. They all struggle for a while, but eventually they all go limp.
One of the figures pulls out their com before sending this message,

Chapter 11: Waking up

Chapter Text

When Michael slowly gains conciseness, he feels warm. He also hears the bubbling of lava. He sits up, he notices Clementine and Shroud still unconscious, he drags them close to him.
He feels eyes watching him, he looks up. When he does, he sees a masked figure in the corner of the room, leaning against the wall.
The man looks to be in a prisoner's outfit, with a cracked mask. It takes a moment for Micheal to realize, this is the masked man, and he's stuck in the cell with him for God knows how long.
It takes a moment for the masked man to say, “Hello, I haven't met you before, who are you?”

Chapter 12: New guests

Chapter Text

“Hello, I haven't met you before, who are you?”
The words sound scratchy even to him, prime, it's been a while since he's been able to talk with someone.
“What's it to you?” The kid asks, not trusting him.
“No need to be so rude, I'm just asking a simple question?”
The kid clenched his jaw, but stayed silent. Dream wonders how the kid knows Tommy, the boy could be useful in the future.
It's silent for a while, Dream's watching the kid seeing what reaction the kid would make to it. The piglin looks like he's about to snap before the girl wakes up,
“Huh? Where are we?” The girl says quietly.
Dream sees her take a look around the cell until her eyes fall on him. Her eyes flash with recognition, her face drains of color for a second before her expression turns neutral. “Ah.”
Dream looks at the girl, she's talking with the piglin boy. She's talking quietly, and looks ready to defend herself at a second's notice.
Not long after the spiderling wakes up and has a similar reaction as the moth, though a little more angry than her.
He leans into the obsidian wall, they definitely know who he is, and they definitely know who Tommy is.
He wants to know how, he can't get the information from the moth, she's too guarded. Can't with the piglin either, he's too charismatic.
He smiles as he sees the spiderling start to get angry at the moth, yes, he’ll do fine, he just needs to do a little coaxing and he’ll get that sweet information.

Chapter 13: Worry

Chapter Text

It's been a few hours, his kids should've gotten home right now.
Tommy paces back and forth. His head stuck in a whirlwind of possibilities, none of them good.
Tommy has to calm down, he can't do anything if he's panicking.
He starts putting on gear, once he's fully suited up he walks out of his house to start searching.

Chapter 14: Neglect

Chapter Text

His head is pounding, another hangover in effect.
His husband is lying beside him, one of the few times they aren't fighting or ignoring each other.
They try to ignore it, but it won't go away, they both know something's wrong.

Chapter 15: Information

Chapter Text

As it turns out, it would be more trouble to get information out of the spiderling than he thought.
It's been a few days according to the piglin’s watch and he's made no progress in his plan.
Each time the spider is about to slip up the moth calms him down, the same thing happens when he tries on the piglin.
It's frustrating but in this he's noticed that the moth is the voice of reason out of the three. She has final say on decisions and is the one to calm everyone down.
He also found out that the piglin's the one who comes up with all the plans and is one of the main people in their conversations with each other.
The spiderling is the one who gives the entertainment and helps fuel the quips the moth and piglin have for each other.
Dream drifts off to sleep.

Chapter 16: Hold your breath

Chapter Text

If Michael Had to be honest, this was pretty bad, he and his friends are running out of things to talk about. They’re all starting to get nervous, he can tell by the way they’re starting to act.
Michael looks over at the masked guy, he seems to be asleep. So, he takes his chances. He takes quiet steps forward, an act he practiced to not wake his parents.
The twins whisper panicked to get him to go back, he ignores them. He walks further, reaching the chest near the masked man.
He opens it quietly and grabs an empty book and three spare pens. He starts to walk back, not making a sound, he's holding his breath. His lungs start to burn but he can’t breathe yet, he’s only half way through the room. He can’t walk faster in threat of the masked man waking up, the man seems violent.
He finally makes it, and Michael takes a breath, his lungs still on fire.
Shroud speaks first, “You idiot!” He hisses out, “What were you thinking!”
Clementine speaks up next, “You could have gotten hurt! We don’t know what he’s capable of!” Clementine speaks worriedly, pointing at the masked man.
“Well I didn't,” Michael hissed.
He puts the book and pens down, “Now, we can communicate without talking aloud, so he can't hear.”
“That's actually kinda smart.” Shroud says.
“Hey!”
Shroud Snickers, “For real though, next time warn us and be careful.”
“I have to agree with you, be more careful dumbass, you could have gotten seriously hurt.”
“Thanks for worrying guys, I'm alright though.”
They all hear rustling in the corner, the masked man must have woken up. They all quiet down and they start communicating through the book.

Chapter 17: Book

Chapter Text

He starts to wake up and immediately Dream notices something off. He didn't hear the voices of the kids, instead he heard scribbling of pen on paper.
He opens his eyes and sees the kids writing on one of the books that were in the chest. They must've taken it while he was sleeping.
He chuckles quietly, how did they do that, who did it? He scans over the group, and can't see who did it.

Chapter 18: Watching

Chapter Text

He feels the man's gaze bore into him. He tries to ignore it, it keeps bothering him.
‘This bitch keeps staring at me’ He writes.
‘Fuck’n creepy’ Shroud agreed.
‘for real’ Clementine comments.
‘Should I say something?’
‘IDK’
‘I would suggest not to, he seems dangerous.’ Clementine answered.
He thinks back, it's only been a week, but he misses seeing the stars.
He misses being able to talk to his uncle, and believe it or not, he misses the mansion. He misses the routine of being ignored, being the one to clean up the house.
Unbeknownst to him, ever since he got stuck in the prison, there has been endless downpours.

Chapter 19: Knowledge

Chapter Text

Tommy feels empty. He's been searching all week. All he's been seeing is stupid fucking nada! Nothing! He's even checked his exile point!
It's been raining non-stop. He can tell that it's night. But no stars are shining.
He feels like he wants to end it all. His children, gone. He must've really fucked up this time.
Dream was right, he should have stayed in exile. Nobody wants him anyway. Nikki and Jack keep trying to kill him, which they hide terribly.
Phil disowned him, Techno said he would kill him on sight. The whole eggpire wants his head as well. He fucked up so bad even Tubo and Ranboo fucking hate him!
He hears footsteps behind him, he quickly spins around and sees Bad, he leans on the wall before speaking to him.
He starts to insult him before he cuts him off with one sentence.
“I know where they are,”
Tommy freezes. “What…”
“Sam took them to the prison.”
Tommy feels his blood boil, this bitch not only kidnapped Michael a few years ago, but now kidnapped his kids as well as Michael again!
“I'll be back,” is all he said before stalking towards the prison.

Chapter 20: New member

Chapter Text

The man smiles, everything is going to plan. That was way too easy. All the man had to do was tell a half lie and he went off, how fun that was.
Another member to the Eggpire.

Chapter 21: Forget

Chapter Text

The mansion is starting to get cluttered, so many beers and alcohol glasses are starting to be found everywhere.
Both Ranboo and Tubbo still feel off. They are back to being quiet again after a fight they had.
They don't realize the spark in the family has been taken to a dark void, which may put out that shine for good.

Chapter 22: Nightmare

Chapter Text

Michael is dreaming, he knows that much. Though he still feels the heat from the lava. His surroundings are in black and white, almost like a chess board. He also hears a constant buzzing sound, one that is a mix of bees buzzing and a phone on do not disturb. Michael clenches his teeth, the sound is getting louder. The black and white objects switch colors. The room starts to shake, almost knocking him to the ground. The colors are switching again, some objects are missing. Writing appears on the walls, switching from yellow to purple. “Mistake” “Where’s my fucking Beer!” “Useless” “Shut up brat, get my book.” “Tell your father to fuck off” “Well tell your Dad to stop being a fucking pussy and tell it to my face!” “Where the hell do you think your going, brat” “You useless mother fucker! Get your lazy ass up here now!” “Fetch me a cigarette, will ya?” “Stop acting like your fucking dad,” “Stop acting like your good for nothing father” “Leave you stupid asshole!” “Now who gave you permission to leave brat” Their voices are echoing in his head, he starts to tear up. “Why!” He screams, “Leave me alone!” The voices only get louder. “Please,” He whispers. “What makes you think you're sooooo special?” “Miiiikkkyyyyy, hehe, yourrrrr a mistakkkke" “Get meeeee a f’kn bot’le, noooooowww!” “God, get your father to shut his drunken ass up!’ “That makes you look like your father, stop it.” A closet door appears, a new wave of memories flood in. His dad stands above him, his eyes a mix of purple and neon green. Michael's face is throbbing, he just got slapped. “Get up” He can't, his legs feel like jello, he tells him this. “Fine, I'll get you up myself, you worthless brat.” He feels his father's hand grab the collar of his shirt and pull him up. He kicks his legs out, trying to find something to put his feet on. “Stop squirming” Michael falls limp. He looks up and sees they're walking towards a closet. His father opens the door and throws him inside it. He sits stunned before he hears a clicking sound. He races to the door, finding it locked. He bangs on the door, no response. Michaell feels across the wall and finds a light switch and flips it. The light blinds him for a second then he looks around. He sees a threadbare blanket with enough food and water to last about a month. He curls in a ball with the blanket. Micheal blinks and he's back in the black and white room. This stupid. Black. And. White. ROOM! But then there's a chair. It's the only thing that's colored, it's maroon. He hears his uncle laughing with a younger version of himself. Michael is suddenly 6 again and on his uncle's lap. His uncle is telling him a story. One about a brave leader, one who fights evil and controlling tyrants. “ Then the brave leader was betrayed by the masked ally. The ally cut off the leader's wings and sided with a great empire.” He remembers asking why the ally betrayed the leader, his uncle just sadly smiled but didn't answer. His uncle also told him many other stories. Some of them are myths of Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and Norse Gods and Goddesses alike. Others are about simple people living their lives or more fantasy-like creatures. At the time, the stress of the mansion hadn't caught up to him. He didn’t have to act like an adult, he didn’t have to tuck in his parents. He wasn’t thrown around like a ragdoll and used as a weapon to hurt either of his parents. He was free. The world started to fade from view, the lava half blinding him while his back aches from sleeping on the obsidian. He opens his eyes, he’s still in the room with the masked man. Michael struggles to sit up, the twins are sleeping on him. He also feels a set of eyes on him, the sensation starting to become familiar. Michael looks up, and to no one's surprise, the masked man is facing him.

Chapter 23: Think to the past

Chapter Text

Dream has been studying the kids for quite some time now, the piglin seems to be having a nightmare with all the tossing and turning he’s doing.
The piglin is mumbling in his sleep, the words are too slurred together to be heard. The moth and spiderling unconsciously crawl towards the piglin, they seem to be really close, they remind him of siblings. The piglin is the only thing that makes him unsure of that, he seems like a cousin, not a brother.
The piglin seemed to calm down, how sad, now it’ll be boring until they wake up. Hopefully he can get more information, he needs to at least know their names.
Dream shifts, the fabric of the prison uniform rustles a bit. Blood is still on it, it was Tommy’s. He remembers his screams, Tommy begging, it was quite amusing. Tommy knows by now that won’t work. Tommy’s screams echo in his head.
“Dream please!”
“I’m only on four hearts!”
“Let go!”
“Please stop, please stop, please stop, PLEASE STOP!”
“I’ll be better!”
“Dream-”Tommy hiccuped. “Stop!”
“I’m begging you””
“I’ll do anything!”
“PHILLLLL!”
“SAAAAAM!”
“Plea-” C R A C K
Tommy went quiet. He's dead.
Dream remembers laughing maniacally. He did it! He killed his Tommy!
It eventually got boring. His toy was silent, he missed his chattering and the fear in his eyes.
Enough daydreaming. The piglin's notices his staring. Dream eventually speaks.
“Hello.”

Chapter 24: Greetings

Chapter Text

Michael hears the masked man speak.
“What do you want?” Michael snarls. The masked man is taken aback.
This got him thinking as well. He can’t keep calling the masked man that, but he can’t show weakness. The twins seem to know who the masked bitch is, but they won't tell him.
Michael takes a bite out of his potato as the masked man responds. “No need to be so mean, I just wanted to greet you, that's all.”
“Sure, let's just say I believe you, because you totally don’t look like a manipulative bitch at all.” Michael sarcastically remarked. Michael snorted as the masked man looked like he took offense.
“How rude, I was just saying a simple hello, fine I won’t talk to you.”
“It would be a pleasure if ya stop staring at me too.” Michael mutters.
After a while of silence the twins woke up, and the day passed by as normal. Or as normal as you can get in here.

Chapter 25: Play smart

Chapter Text

Clementine was eating her potato Michael gave her when she notices Dream staring at them.
“Quit staring will you?” She asks Dream.
It’s almost laughable to see his shocked position, his mask is the only thing hiding that surprised look.
“What, didn’t think I would notice?” She raised an eyebrow. Dream huffed before looking away, bastard.
Clementine then looked at her brother, he looked back. They stare at each other for a second before coming to an agreement. They can’t tell Michael about Dream, nothing more than what he already knows.

The day passed quickly for Clementine, too quick. She smiles at Michael and Shroud’s sleeping forms. She continued to stare at the lava after she turned away from the others.
Clementine hears ruffling in the corner, Dream must be up. As she turns she finds she's correct, he’s up, and staring at her.
“The fuck do you want.” Cementine Snaps.
Instead of using honeyed words like Dream tried to do with Michael, he got straight to the point.
“How do you know me?”
Clementine smiles,“A little bird told me.” And oh boy was it satisfying to hear Dream’s growl of frustration.
“How much do you know?”
Her smile vanishes, in its place is an angry scowl, “Enough to know your a fucking bitch.
“Then you know what I did to Tommyinnit?”
Alright, she needs to keep a passive tone, can’t make it seem like she knows her dad. “I know you were a horrible piece of shit for all you put that man through.”
“Man? No, he’s just a child.”
“Last I heard, he wasn’t. He should be in his twenties.”
Dream pauses for a second, Clementine laughs, “Did you actually think Tommy would just stop aging when you're not around! HA!”
This time, Clementine could’ve sworn Dream was scowling. “I know people age, I just didn’t think he’d survive this long.”
She can tell Dream’s looking for how she knows her dad, or looking for a trigger to abuse. “Well what can I say, he found help and he’s still hanging on.”
“What's your name kid?”
“Like hell I'll tell you Dream.” Clementine responds, the man's name feels disgusting on her tongue..
“So you do know my name, not sure your piglin friend does though.”
“And it’ll stay that way.” She snaps.
“Oh will it now?” Dream’s challenging her now, the bastard.
“I’m not afraid of getting my hands dirty, I know you're not either.”
Dream smiles before turning away the last thing he says before presumably falling asleep is, “I might take up that offer.”
Clementine watches Dream for a while, making sure he’s asleep, which he is. Her wings flutter under her shirt, but it’s too dangerous to show them now. She then curls up next to Michael and Shroud before falling asleep as well

Chapter 26: Realize

Chapter Text

“Boo, do you think something's wrong?”
“No Bo, the alcohol is getting to your fucking skull.

Chapter 27: Entering

Chapter Text

Dream hears yelling as he wakes up, but it’s not from the cell. He listens closer.
“Where are my fucking kids Sam!” Tommy!? What is he talking about? The moth and spiderling do have similar mannerisms though…
“I don’t know Tommy! Now get out! The threat I made seven years ago is still in effect!” What threat?
“I don’t give two shits Sam! Kill me if you want but I’m not leaving until I get my kids and nephew!” The nephew must be the piglin, it’s obvious with how the three act around each other.
“Who told you that your kids are here!”
“Bad, fuck face! Now let me through before you lose a damn cannon life!” Wow, protective much?
“Fine! Don’t expect me to help you if you get hurt.”
The lava of the cell parts, Tommy’s on the platform. He looks the same age as before. He has a blind eye where he lost his last life. His eyes are shining with anger.
His clothes are different than before. He’s wearing a baggy plain black shirt with blue jeans. The kids wake up and the spiderling shouts, “DAD!” Huh, guess Dream was correct.
Tommy smiles as the platform gets closer. When there is a little bit of space between the platform and cell, Tommy jumps to the cell and lands on his feet.
The lava quickly falls behind Tommy as the cell bars go down. After they do, Tommy runs to the kids.
“My babies,” Tommy says after hugging all of them. All the kids still huddle around him. They seem to cling onto him like their lives depend on it.
Well, Dream needs to make himself known, “Hi Tommy~” He drags out the “y” in his name.
Just as he suspected, Tommy flinched, hard. Tommy gathers the kids closer to himself. “Ya know it’s kinda cute you think that’ll save them.” Dream smirks as Tommy starts to curl into himself.
“Tommy, Tommy~, that’s not how I taught you to greet your best friend, is it?”
Tommy’s trembling now, oh how much he missed his plaything. “I-I’m sorry D-Dream.”
The piglin tries to defend Tommy, but both the moth and spiderling grab his wrist to stop him. Huh, now he knows for sure that both of Tommy’s kids know about him.
“Hmm~, I don’t think I’ll forgive you. Do you know how long~ I’ve waited for you to return? I had to learn from Bad of all people that it’s been seven years! Seven, FUCKING, YEARS!” He hears Tommy mumble out an apology while curling into himself even more.

Suddenly the prison shook, TNT went off. Dream laughs.
“No..” He hears Tommy say, obviously horrified.
Dream cackled, “Oh yes Tommy it’ll be just like last time, we’ll have so much fun together.”
“I’m only staying for two weeks then I’m leaving with them.” Tommy says, though there’s a tremble in his voice.
“And what makes you think that?” Dream says, already thinking of ways for making them stay longer.
“I-, I remember what I signed before going on that platform!” Oh, so now he’s masking his fear with anger, Dream can’t wait to break him again.
Dream maniacally giggles before speaking, “Now now Toms, don’t use your anger on me, that’s not kind.”
“Don’t call me that!

Chapter 28: Desperate

Chapter Text

Michael is huddled next to his uncle, the masked man is kinda scaring him now. He doesn’t understand why Clem and Shroud stopped him, they definitely know more about the masked man than him. The question is though, why won’t they tell him?
Michael feels angry at the masked man, why is he trying to scare his uncle? He feels his uncle hug him and the twins a little tighter, like they’d disappear if his uncle lets go.
The masked man obviously lost it, from what he’s heard so far, he’s been in here for seven years. No wonder why he lost it.
Then it clicks, This man matched what his Uncle said about Dream, the masked man IS Dream! Hopefully they can leave soon.
Hopefully the TNT’s damage won’t be too hard to fix.
Just two more weeks.
Fourteen days
336 hours
20160 minutes
Two. Weeks.

Chapter 30: Panicking

Chapter Text

Dream quieted a little while ago, his uncle is still trembling. He,Clem, and Shroud try to calm him down.
“Dad, it’s ok, calm down.” Clementine whispers.
“Your ok dad.” Shroud says.
Michael doesn’t know how to handle this. All his life his uncle has portrayed himself to be unstoppable, Michael thought that nothing could stop him. It felt so surreal seeing his uncle in this state.
Then Michael has an idea, his uncle always calms down while singing.
“Uncle Tommy?”
His uncle takes a second to respond, “Yeah bud?”
“Could you sing for us?”
His uncle laughs, not a happy laugh, it’s a sad hollow one. “Sure buddy.”

Chapter 31: A deal

Chapter Text

“So I never really knew you”
He starts with a whisper.
“God, I really tried to”
Michael and the twins crawl closer to Tommy.
“Blindsided, addicted”
None of them notice Dream turning to listen.
“Thought we could really do this”
“But really, I was foolish”
“Hindsight, it's obvious”
Dream sees Tommy turning and looking towards the lava.
“Talking with my lawyer”
“She said, ‘Where'd you find this guy?’”
Tommy feels his voice break.
“I said, ‘Young people fall in love”
“With the wrong people sometimes’”
Shroud feels a tear land on his head.
“Some mistakes get made”
“That's alright, that's okay”
Dream sees Tommy’s eyes fall on him before he looks away.
“You can think that you're in love”
“When you're really just in pain”
Clementine feels her dad curl into himself.
“Some mistakes get made”
“That's alright, that's okay”
“In the end, it's better for me”
“That's the moral of the story, babe”
Tommy feels tears threaten to fall, he keeps them in.
“It's funny how a memory, turns into a bad dream”
“When running wild turns volatile”
Dream sees the far off look Tommy has.
“Remember how we painted our house”
“Just like my grandparents did”
That line Tommy quietly chuckles at, he was born in a fucking lab.
“So romantic, but we fought the whole time”
“Should've seen the signs, yeah”
Michael feels his uncle clench his fists in micheal’s shirt.
“Talking with my mother”
“She said, ‘Where'd you find this guy?’”
Tommy quietly chuckles again, he has no parents, except Bad perhaps, he was the lead scientist, he doubts he remembers him now.
“Said, ‘Some people fall in love”
“With the wrong people sometimes’”
His singing starts to get a little louder.
“Some mistakes get made”
Tommy closes his eyes.
“That's alright, that's okay”
“You can think that you're in love”
When you're really just in pain
“Some mistakes get made”
“That's alright, that's okay”
“In the end, it's better for me”
“That's the moral of the story, babe”
Tears fall freely now, they stain Tommy’s cheeks.
“They say it's better to have loved and lost”
“Than never to have loved at all”
“That could be a load of shit”
Dream sees Tommy open his eyes again.
“But I just need to tell you all”
Shroud hears his dad’s voice shake.
“Some mistakes get made”
“That's alright, that's okay”
“You can think that you're in love”
“When you're really just engaged”
Clementine can feel the sadness breaking off her dad.
“Some mistakes get made”
“That's alright, that's okay”
“In the end, it's better for me”
“That's the moral of the story”
Tommy thinks back to the past, of all the things that lead him to this point.
“Some mistakes get made”
“That's alright, that's okay”
“You can think that you're in love”
“When you're really just in pain”
Tommy sees the outline of XD himself in the lava, he's watching.
“Some mistakes get made”
“That's alright, that's okay”
Tommy knows he can’t escape the deal he made.
“In the end, it's better for me”
Dream looks to the lava as well,
“That's the moral of the story, babe”
XD is gone.

Chapter 32: Manipulation

Chapter Text

Tommy looks at the kids, they’ve been asleep for a while now.
“I never knew you could sing, Tommy.”
“Fuck off Dream.”
“Wow, not even the first day is over when you start to disrespect me.”
“And not even the first day is over when I want to kill myself ‘cause of you.”
“You flatter me.”
“Shut up.”
“Excuse me?”
“You're excused.”
“Well I didn’t know you wanted to visit Schlatt this early in your visit."
That makes Tommy freeze. The way Dream said it is like he’s going to die at some point of the visit, which is likely but still.
“Now, if you don’t want to die, you have to apologise.”
Tommy stays silent, Dream moves a bit closer in warning.
Tommy flinched and resisted the urge to roll his eyes, “Sorry.”
“What? Couldn’t hear you.” Tommy could practically hear the smug smirk Dream has.
“Sorry.”
“Sorry, I couldn't hear you again, a little louder?.” Oh Dream’s definitely enjoying this.
“SORRY!” Tommy screams, getting real pissed.
The kids shift in their sleep.
“Now now Tommy~ calm down, no need to yell.”
“Well I’m sorry that your sorry ass can’t fucking hear me bitch.” He snapped.
Tommy immediately freezed, he knew he fucked up.
Dream growls, “Don’t fucking force my hand here Tommy, I’m already being generous by not hurting the kids.”
Tommy’s eyes widen, “You wouldn’t”’
Dream walks a bit closer, smiling before leaning down to eye level, “ Wouldn’t I?”
Tears welled up in Tommy’s eyes as he pleaded, “Please, don’t.”
Dream lifts his mask, his neon green eyes piercing into him, “I won’t if you don’t make me, your choice Tommy.”
Tommy looks away, trying to hide the tears spilling out of his eyes.
Dream grabs Tommy’s face, forcing him to look at Dream,“Do you understand?
Tommy stays silent, his eyes darting left and right. Dream digs harder on his cheek, “I said, do you fucking understand Tommy?”
Tommy again stays silent, this time out of fear, Dream’s nails dig even harder into his cheek, “Last fucking chance Tommy, do. you. understand.”
Tommy forces himself to speak, “Y-yes Dream.”
Dream then lets go, but he doesn’t move away. Tommy scoots back until he hits the obsidian wall. Dream walks closer.
Dream then suddenly laughs, “I haven’t even said anything and you're terrified! You should see your face!” Dream laughs some more.
“Yeah, yeah, laugh it up. I won’t stay here much longer. I will get out.” Tommy angrily says.
“You sound like you're trying to convince yourself more than me. I’ll help you though Tommy, you’re just confused.”
“I’m not doing this again!”
“What do you mean?” Dream looks genuinely confused, but Tommy knows better than to believe that.
“You're not going to manipulate me again! I won't let you!”
Dream gets impossibly close, their noses touching, “Here’s the thing Tommy,” Dream smiles wickedly , “ I already have.”

Chapter 33: Aftermath

Chapter Text

When Michael wakes up he feels wrong. There is a silence that makes him feel uncomfortable. The twins are silently sleeping. His uncle is curled up in the corner, he looks like he just woke up. He’s still silent though, staring at Dream.
His uncle is usually a talker though. Michael feels his uneasy-ness grow when he sees Dream shift to look at him instead of his uncle. The mask glowing eerily due to the lava.
Michael glares at Dream. Dream seems to smile back. Michael doesn't speak, but he does mouth these three words. I. HATE. YOU.
Michael crawls over to his uncle. Again, he doesn't say anything. But he hugs his uncle in comfort.
“Hey Mike, what's up Bud?”
Michael just shrugged. He honestly could be better or worse.
“Ah, having a nonverbal episode?”
Michael nods, smiling that his uncle caught on so quickly.

This isn't the first time he had a nonverbal episode. The first was years ago. He was ten and it was the first time he was locked in that damn closet.
When he left it, he was shaking. He couldn't write in straight lines for weeks. When he tried talking, nothing came out. Not even a whisper. He panicked, eyes widening as he started to claw at his neck.
He was at his uncle's at the time. Michael knocked something over, though he really can't remember what. His uncle ran over and immediately took Michael’s hands off of his neck.
“Hey, Mike, don't do that!” His uncle says panicking.
Michael drops his hands from his throat.
“What's wrong? Are you hurt? Did someone else get hurt? Are you feeling sick?”
Michael shakes his head at every one of his uncle's questions.
“Why aren't you responding? Can you not talk?”
Michael nods his head, his uncle takes a sigh in relief. Then his uncle smiled. His uncle started explaining some reasons why this was happening, and Michael listened with care.
He found out that he was having a nonverbal episode, which means he at points can't talk. When he could though, he thanked his uncle profusely.

But, now Michael just curled up next to his uncle. He hears a drip on the obsidian, damnit, he's crying again.
The twins woke up and walked to their dad. They talked a bit, Michael wasn't paying attention. He stared at the lava, noting the yellow, orange, and red hues.
At lunch, Dream threw over a couple potatoes, making his uncle flinch. After picking them up, they all ate in silence. There was no conversation afterwards either.
It's only been two days since Michael's uncle came, but it feels like it's been an eternity. But they'll survive. They have to.

Chapter 34: Crimson

Chapter Text

“B₹¡Πg †h£ €h¡|D †⁰ M£ №w!” It screams.
The demon feels sweat drip down his forehead. He tries to back away but a red vine shoots out and wraps itself around the demon's waist.
“M-master, y-you told us to bring him to the prison! We did as you said!”
“¡ Π££d ¥0û †⁰ b₹əªk †hɜ ¢h¡/D ªñd b|°Πd o솔
The demon tries to back away again. The vine grips harder around his waist, knocking the breath out of him. Then the grip loosens, but doesn't let go.
“D⁰ⁿ† §†₹μgg||£ B@d, ¡ m@d£ ¥°μ †h£ h£@d °f †h¡$ f0₹ @ ₹3@$0Π! F°₹ ¡† !$ μ§|£$$ †0 f¡gh† ag@¡Π§† m£!”
Bad goes limp, he notices that during his masters talk, he was risen into the air. His legs were dangling in the air.
“I-i’ll try something! I’ll use someone who cares about both of them!”
“¥0μ b3††£₹, ₹3mm£mb3₹ wh@† ¡ g@✓£ ¥0μ. ¥0μ₹£ §0μ| ¡$ m¡Π£!”
“I’ll use the Blood God! He still cares for both of them!” Bad's voice is rising, he knows he's panicking.
The egg noticed too, it squeezed tight again. But not as tight as before. Bad wishes he never discovered his master. His life would have been so much better.
He knows his master can be quite possessive over its followers. But he can't complain, look at what his master promises. He and Skeppy would be safe, when his master lets him rest.
“¥0μ₹£ h£$¡†@†¡Πg,” The vines around his waist tighten, “¥°μ kΠ°w wh@† ¥0μ h@✓£ †0 d∅. $∅ d⁰ ¡†.”
“I will, my master, I will.” He's still panicking, but Bad is able to keep his voice steady.
His master doesn't let go. Instead, Bad is pulled closer to the egg. “₹3m£mb£₹, ¥•μ @₹3 μ§|£$$ w¡†h ∅μ† m£, d⁰Π† b£†₹@¥ M3. †h¡$ ¡$ ⁰Π£ m∅₹3 ¢h@Π€£ †0 ¶₹0✓£ ¥0μ w0Π† b3¢°m3 @ †₹@†0₹, ¡’d h@†3 †0 h@✓£ †0 d!$₱0§£ 0f ¥0μ.”
There's an audible gulp, then Bad speaks. “I-I won't my master, I swear on all my lives. You have my undying loyalty.”
“G∅∅d”
Then Bad feels the vines let go of him and he drops to the floor, landing on his feet. He takes a breath, then walks out.

Chapter 35: Fight

Chapter Text

Tubbo is in his office. He finds that's one of the few places he has safety in. The door is closed.

Instead of doing work like usual, he's looking at a picture. It's one of his family, one that was taken years ago.

“What am I doing wrong?” His voice cracks. A drop falls onto the desk, then two more follow after.

“Why can't I love them?” His breath is shaky, “Why does it feel so wrong?”

Tubbo thinks of the argument he had with Tommy a few weeks ago.

Tubbo looked up from his place on the couch, someone was knocking on the door. “What do you want?” He says as he opens the door.

Tommy comes bursting through the house then sits at the table, Tubbo joins him.

“We need to talk.” Is all he says. ‘how rude,’ Tubbo thinks, “Couldn't have at least said a simple hello?” Tubbo says annoyed.

Tommy says nothing, but he clenches his fist and glares at him. “What's stuck up your ass?” Tubbo snaps, getting annoyed with the lack of response. This only warms him another glare.

“It's about your son.” Tommy finally says.

“What about him?” Tubbo snaps, getting defensive.

“Oh don't act like you care about him now.” Tommy spat.

Tubbo opens his mouth, almost forming words before he promptly closes it.

                    “You're not caring for him.”

Anger flares in Tubbo, “ What the fuck do you mean! I do care for him! I give him a roof to live under, I give him food, I give him a bed and clothes!”

“You abuse and neglect him!” Tommy yells, “That's not caring for him!”

“Am not!” Tubbo yells back. “ I'm just disciplining him, do you expect me to just pamper him all the damn time!”

“The fuck does he need ‘disciplining’ for!” Tommy yells, putting air quotes on disciplining.

               Tubbo stays silent.

“He's just a kid! Imagine if you were treated like that!”

“Well I turned out fine.” Tubbo says coldly.

Tommy stares blankly before speaking. “We went through wars, revolution's, hostile government takeovers, doomsdays and much more and you expect us to turn out fine!”

                 Tubbo scoffs.

“We are traumatized! And to top it off, we were barely five when it started!” Tommy is standing now, and his arm is waving around as he speaks.

Tubbo just huffs, “Now you're just being dramatic, I have been through that. You haven't been through shit.”

Tommy grits his teeth, “Oh so now we’re downplaying trauma now?” Tommy smiles wickedly, “So I guess the shit you went through with Schlatt and your execution was nothing, right?”

“You have no reason to bring that up, stop being insensitive.” Tubbo snaps.

“So only you can downplay other people's shit? Well I deeply apologize.” Tommy says sarcastically.

Turbo rolls his eyes “Stop being childish Tommy.”

Tommy's eyes flashing with anger. “I have been many fucking things, a child is not one of them.”

Tubbo grins, “You're right, you were too busy playing lost puppy and following Wilbur around.”

“Leave My Brother Out Of This.” Tommy seethed.

Tubbo says nothing, a smile still on his face.

“You weren't so different ya’ know, you followed me like I was God reincarnated. You were so pathetic!”

"You have no room to talk old man." Tubbo sees Tommy's confused face, "Oh I'm sorry, I mistook your age with those white hairs."

Tommy takes hold of the white section of his hair. Both know he got it after he was revived in Pandora's vault.

Tommy's eyes flared up with rage. " How's your husband, wouldn't be surprised if he was cheating on you. I mean it would be obvious why."

Tubbo grabs a bottle, Tommy laughs. “Whatcha gonna do with that? Bash it on my head? Gonna kill me? Ya’ know what? You'll do the server a fucking favor.”

Tubbo then walks up to Tommy, raising the beer bottle, “SHUT THE FUCK UP!” He screams. Tommy's eyes widen as he raises his arms to block the bottle.

The bottle comes down quickly, the bottle shattered with a crash. Then a deafening silence comes after.

Tubbo’s eyes widened, he was expecting a scream, a sound of pain. That didn't happen, instead, he got a look of deep betrayal, but also one of acceptance. And, for some reason, he felt something break in him.

Tommy's arms are covered in glass, most of it has cut deeply into his skin. Blood drips down his arms, falling down to the floor.

Tommy suddenly walks to the door, clutching his bleeding arms tightly. But then he turns around just as he reaches it. “ Only one of us has kept that promise it seems.”

                  Tubbo looks confused, “What promise?”

Tommy has a sad smile, “You said ‘If I can't be the next Schlatt, you can't be the next Wilbur.’” A tear falls From Tommy's eye, “I find only one of us kept that promise.” With that, Tommy left.

Tubbo clenches his fist and teeth at the memory. ‘It’s his fault’ Tubbo thinks bitterly. ‘If he didn't try and butt in, me and Ranboo would have been happy. We would still love each other, we would love Michael.’

He takes the picture of him and Tommy, staring at it for a second. Then, he throws it in the fireplace in the office.

He watches it burn, until there's nothing left. Then, he gets back to work.

Chapter 36: Meetings p. 1

Chapter Text

Shroud clung to his dad, three days have passed since he came. Well, it could be longer than that, there's no clock or anything to tell the time.
There hasn't been much talking, though Shroud assumes that Dream and his dad talk when they're all asleep.
To many people's surprise, Shroud isn't dumb. He realizes most things before others. He just acts like the dumb one, it's easier that way.
Nobody expects things from him, they all think he's too stupid to understand what to do. No one judges him for saying something stupid if he makes it his personality.
His dad was the first to see through his act. He never said anything, never changed the way he treats him.
His dad was the first person to act like he was a person. Someone who has feelings, someone who has opinions, someone who has insecurities, someone who wants to be loved.
There was a time when he and Clem weren't with their dad, though he doesn't like remembering it.
He remembers how cruel the world was. How he was treated like nothing, how he was nothing.
He was the freak show, the slave, the problem. He was something to hate, to kick around. He was something made to be abused and abandoned.
The people made sure to make him know what he was. Especially James, the fifteen year old who made sure Shroud, who was six at the time, knew his place. Shroud belonged in his shadow, someone less than him.
Shroud ran to the elders of the village many times, telling them the things James did. The things that still haunt him to this day, that he will never regret.
The elders said the same thing each time, “Don't make such accusations brat, James would do no such thing!” Then they would shove him outside.
James always got too close, too personal in his insults and comments. Every time he would leave him alone for the day, he would say the same phrase. “Nobody would believe you, you freak. Who would believe someone like you? I'm the one everyone adores, you're just a useless piece of trash.”
It's true, all the girls in the village loved him. All the parents adored his ‘sweet and innocent’ act.
Shroud remembers one day it got bad, and he means really bad.

“What's wrong freak, ya scared?” James got closer, Shroud stepped back.
Shroud continued to take steps back, as James only got closer. Shroud’s back hit the wall, he's cornered.
“G-go a-away!” Shroud curses at himself for stuttering.
“O-or w-what?” James mocks. James stepped even closer, there was a glint in his eyes that made chills spread down Shroud's spine.
Shroud waits for him to get closer, and closer James comes. James puts a hand over Shroud's mouth. “ If you scream, I will make you wish you were- OW!”
Shroud bit the hand covering his mouth and ran, and after a while, James followed. “You little shit!” James hissed, still following after Shroud.
Shroud was running like his life was on the line. His legs were burning, but he couldn't slow down. James was still hot on his tail, showing no signs of exhaustion.
Then, Shroud tripped. He looked up, it was a dead end. A shadow fell over him and Shroud's stomach dropped.
“You're gonna regret running.” James hissed.
Suddenly Shroud was lifted off the ground and pinned against the wall. Shroud's feet scramble for purchase.
James tightened his grip on Shroud and leaned his head close to Shroud's face, “Now listen here you little twerp,” James growled, “you, are gonna fucking pay.”
A hand moves to take off Shroud's jacket when a voice pipes up, “Leave him alone!”
James turns to look at who says it and Shroud catches a glimpse at the person. She looks to be the same age as him, her clothes are dirty like his as well. She must be like him.
“Or what, little girl?” James sneers, “You gonna run to your dad?” James Snickers at his comment.
“Don't fucking test me bitch!” The girl snarls.
“Oh, it seems she swears.” James says in a bored tone.
The girl chuckles before pulling out a baseball bat, and James’s eyes widen in fright. “As I said, leave him the fuck alone.”
James gives Shroud a glare before letting go and walking away. Shroud falls to the ground and the girl walks to him after putting the bat away.
She puts a hand out to help him up, “Clementine.”
“Huh?” Shroud says confused.
“My name, idiot. What's your's?”
“Oh, uh, mine's Shroud.”

And since then, they were inseparable. People left Shroud alone. After a while, even James left him alone!
Clementine was the same age as him, neither of them knew their actual birthday so they shared one. Things were still tough, but together they could prevail.

Chapter 37: Meetings p. 2

Chapter Text

Until one day, James confronted Tommy.

The two were spying on Tommy like usual, which Shroud would laugh at if he wanted to be found. Instead, he quietly snorts.
Clementine gives him a glare, “What's so funny?”
Shroud snorts again, “ Ya know without context this would be super creepy, right?” Clementine just rolled her eyes in response.
They followed Tommy around and watched him go down a dead end to pet a cat. Then James walked in.
“I don't think we've met before, what's your name?” Tommy asks James, not making an effort to face him.
This seemed to anger James more, earning a soft snort from Clementine. “My name's James, your's?” James huffs out.
Tommy smiles, still not facing him. “I'm Tommy, pleasure to meet you James.”
James rolls his eyes as Tommy frowns, “ Is there something you need? You've been following me for quite a while.” Tommy asks James, but it doesn't feel like the question was only for him.
Shroud feels Clementine shift uncomfortably. Shroud shoots her a worried look, Clementine waves him off.
“Why are you here.” James demands.
“I think that's a little personal, don't you?” Tommy says nicely, but his tone has some edge to it.
“This is MY town, you aren't welcome.”
“Well I don't see your name on it.” Tommy says smugly, grinning while raising an eyebrow.
Tommy's grin widened as James seemed to get more irritated. “ I don't think you want to mess with me, freak.” James grits out.
Tommy leans against the wall, crossing his arms, “And why's that?”
Both the kids shiver, they both know what James is capable of, and where he said he came from.
“I came from the most dangerous server, I could beat you to a pulp.”
Tommy, who looks like he was told the most funny joke, laughs, “And where did you come from?” Tommy says condescendingly.
James clenches his fist, “The Dream smp, bet you never heard of it, punk.”
“Huh, that's weird, then do you by chance know what happened there?” Tommy says.
“Uh- well I-”
“Exactly,” Tommy's face darkens, “don't bullshit me bitch. You couldn't survive a day in that damn place. Don't act all tough bitch.” Tommy spits out.
“How would you know if I'm lying or not?” James says with anger.
“You don't look like a person ready to fight someone at any time, you're too weak.”
James's eyes widen in anger and draws a dagger and sword. “ You bitch I’ll show you!”
Next thing Shroud knows, They're fighting, well James is attacking while Tommy’s just dodging his attacks. It's obvious he's trying to anger James, and it's working.
Then, the dagger slips from James's hands. Shroud didn't think twice before shoving Clementine to the floor. But as they fell, their heads hit something and as they landed Shroud's vision got blurry.
Shroud felt hot liquid trickling down the back of his head. He reached and touched the back of his head and brought it back to look, its blood. He crawled over to Clementine, his vision going dark. Then, he passed out.

Chapter 38: Meetings p. 3

Chapter Text

But, the fight continued.

James gripped the sword, “Fight me you coward!”                         “Yeah, no. Sorry to disappoint, wait no, I'm not sorry at all.” Tommy says.

James swung his sword towards Tommy again, narrowly missing him. Tommy jumps back, pushing himself further down the dead end.

Tommy noticed a potion bottle James had on his belt, “Ohh~, you a potion maker? Who's for?”

James grins, “It's just an experiment, it should be a potion of revealing. Like, ya' know, maybe someone is hiding something?”

Tommy's eyes widened in realization, horror dawning on his face. “ You're not going to test this on me, are you?” His voice is quiet and a little wobbly. He seemed to be having PTSD. James, either not noticing or caring laughed. Then, he threw the potion bottle at Tommy.

Time seemed to slow down as the bottle flew through the air. As it soared through the sky, Tommy noticed more things about the potion. The liquid was green, his green. The liquid seemed thicker than water, it wasn't water based. The potion tumbled but didn't swerve in its path.

Tommy couldn't move, he was too frozen in fear. All he could do was watch as it got closer. He couldn't close his eyes, couldn't look away from it. Then, it hit.

Nothing happened for a second, then all he could feel was pain. Not the stabbing sort of pain, but shockwaves of it. It was traveling all through him, like he was getting electrocuted. All he could feel was agony, the buzz of pain flowing through him. But, nothing showed on his face, he didn't scream, didn't shout.

This made James scream in anger, “How! That's supposed to fucking hurt! You're supposed to be screaming, begging! Your-” James froze, just staring at Tommy. His eyes widen in horror and trembles. He points a shaking hand at Tommy.

Tommy looks in an abandoned mirror left in the alley. His hair, instead of blond, is pure white. Not an off-white, a white that is lighter than snow.

But the thing that has James gasping however, are the scars. They run all the way down his arms, his face, his hands, his neck. Hell, even his blind eye. There seems to be more scar tissue than skin. Most of the scars look like they were deathly with where they are and how deep some of the scarring is.

One thing on his face stood out though. It's not like the other scars, ones that look jagged and messy. This one looks neat and smooth, one that was intentional.

That scar is located on the left side of his neck. It's impossibly deep, and that scar's shape, was a smiley face.

“What the fuck did I just see!” A high pitched and terrified voice spoke.

Both heads snapped to the person who spoke.

Tommy recognized the person to be Addison, a twenty year old with a four year old kid. She seemed nice when Tommy was talking to her. Right now though, she seemed terrified.

James approaches her. “ Addie, this isn't what you think, I-”

“Back the fuck away from me! I-I heard you say you were gonna test that on him, then you threw it! You knew he was gonna get hurt and you still did it, you even got mad when it didn't hurt! You even hurt those kids over there!”

She points to the two kids who have been following him all trip here, he didn't notice them falling. If he did, he would've finished this quicker.

                  “But-”

“No buts! Others saw as well after I called for help. There's no justification for this!” She looks at Tommy, “ Are you ok?” Tommy just nods, not wanting his voice to betray him.

“Great, you carry the boy and I carry the girl.” She says as she walks to the kids, already picking up the girl. Tommy followed and picked up the boy, he felt another wave of agony wash down on him. He looks at Addison, silently asking what to do next.

“Follow me,” she says, “We'll take them to the hospital in the town, it's only a fifteen minute walk.” Tommy nods and follows.

Fifteen minutes pass and they make it in. At this point the pain is getting unbearable and everything is becoming foggy. His balance is starting to become more unstable.

The kids are set down on beds, their apparently twins. The doctor tells him to sit down. The world spins, he falls and an audible snap is heard. He broke his leg. The world Sims as he hears a shout. Then it goes fully black as he slips into unconsciousness.

Shroud wakes up and feels something wrapped around his head. He looks around and sees Clementine asleep in the bed next to his own. He also sees another person who seems to be sleeping. He has blond hair with a white strip in it. That's Tommy, he realized.

A bit later Tommy woke up and they chatted for a while. Shroud remembers Clementine waking up a couple hours later. They stay in the hospital for a few days. They all bonded over those days.

Mary, the nurse taking care of them, told the three about James. James apparently got arrested and sentenced for twenty years for things shroud can't remember. Shroud felt deep satisfaction from that.

After a while, Tommy gave them an offer. He offered them a spot in his family, to be his kids. They immediately agreed. Since then they haven't been happier. Sure there have been some hardships but they always overcame them. Just like they'll do with them being in the prison cell.

Chapter 39: Again and again p.1/2

Chapter Text

Tommy looks at his hair. It's pale blond, not the golden blond it usually is. The hair dye must be coming out.

He remembers each death, each revival. People think the prison was the time he lost his last life, if only they saw exile.

He remembers when he was talking with Michael when they were at the tower. If Michael looked a bit closer, he would have seen the bits of blood still in the sand.

He remembers standing there. The wind blows from where he sits, the tower below him sways a little. The sky is dark with clouds. He looks down, he must have reached the sky limit with how high he is.

The tent is gone, Henry's fucking dead. It's all blown up, his only friend left him. He knows Dream would be even madder if he did this, but he can't take it anymore.

Tommy stands up, his form swaying in the wind. His feet reach the edge. He stares for a second then jumps. The wind rushes past him as he falls. He feels oddly calm, like he's done this before.

As he falls he sees a white streak in his hair. He gained that after the dream he had. It was him jumping in the lava in the nether during Christmas. Dream said that it was just a nightmare. The ground draws closer and he closes his eyes. The next thing he feels is pain, then everything goes quiet.

He's shaken awake by a hand, Tommy's eyes blink open.

          “H-huh? But- I-”

Dream says nothing, but Tommy can tell he's frowning by the way his shoulders squared. “But what Tommy?”

Tommy doesn't respond, it's just like before when he had that crazy dream of jumping into the lava. Everything's too much.

Dream pulls out his netherite axe, “Fucking answer me Tommy, don't make me ask again.”

“Bu- the tower? I fucking died!” His hair fell over his eyes, more of it was white. “What the fuck! Why's my hair fucking white!”

Dream laughs, but not a normal one. It sounds like Dream lost it. Then, Dream finally talks. “I was wondering when you'd notice.” Dream says condescendingly. “Take a look around you Toms."

Tommy furrows his eyebrows at Dream's tone but does as told. He gasps at what he sees. Blood, too much of it, the tower behind him. So much blood, and it all led to him. He looked down, tracing the blood on his body with his hand. His hand reached his neck, the blood trail stopped.

Tommy's eyes widened as Dream crouched down and took off his mask. “Don't you get it Tommy, I gave you life! I'm a god!”

Tommy scooted away but Dream stopped him by putting his hands on Tommy's shoulders. He shook Tommy before speaking, eyes gleaming and a wide grin on his face. A look of horror dawned on Tommy's face as his eyes widened.

“NononononononononoNO! I- I can't be- I must be dreaming! This can't be real!”

Dream smiles, “Things don't always go our way, do they?” Dream's smile deepens, "It's really selfish of you to do that ya’ know, you would've left your best friend all alone.” Dream frowns and points to a hole that Tommy just noticed, “Put your things in the hole.”

         “Bu- I- my inventory’s empty!”

Dreams eyes glint, “I know.” Before Tommy can react, Dream pulls out his axe and the world goes black.

Dream and Tommy had a new normal after that. Every time Tommy didn't do as told? Dead. Every time he tried to escape? Dead. Every time he stepped out of line? Not death, but making Tommy wish he was.

Dream even forced him to kill himself at points! Every time Dream says something like, “Isn't this what you wanted Tommy? The thing I had to stop you from doing?” It makes Tommy want to gag.

Then Dream started the experiments. Things got much worse after that. The deaths got more violent, so much more gore and screams.

One death that Tommy remembers is one of the more painful ones.

The day started as normal. Dream asked him to put his stuff in the hole and he complied. His almost fully white hair got in his eyes as he threw the pickaxe in.

Dream pulled out a stick of TNT from his inventory and lit it. He looks at Tommy before huffing in amusement at Tommy's wide eyes following the hand holding the explosive. Tommy's eyes follow the TNT as Dream throws it.

The flash comes before the explosion itself. The hot air blows his hair back as Tommy's eyes water due to the extreme heat.

Dream suddenly grabbed Tommy's hands and dragged him to the building. The building Dream made Tommy build and is now used for revival experiments.

Tommy tried to pull away. Dream stopped when he did and raised his empty hand. The smack was hit hard but Dream wasted no time to continue to drag him into the building. A metallic smell wafts in as they enter the building.

Blood was everywhere, some spots dry, some spots still a bit wet. It looks like a place taken from a horror movie. They stopped in the middle of the room and Dream let go of Tommy to take out his axe.

Tommy tried to back away but Dream was too quick. The axe struck his back and blood splattered onto Dream's face. The axe is stuck in his back and Dream pulls it out. The pain was unbearable and a scream ripped out from Tommy.

The scream was shrill and animalistic. Suddenly Dream reached and clasped his hand around Tommy's spine. Another scream came out of Tommy.

Tommy can feel each finger around the bone. Each twitch Tommy made sent another agonizing shockwave of pain.

The blood was pouring out of his back quickly, ruining his and Dream's clothes. The world started to get dark, the sound of his screams started to get faint. Before he knew it, he was dead.

Chapter 41: Again and again 2/2

Chapter Text

He was in a strange place. Everything was pitch black. He looked at his hands and they looked like shadows.

He walked around, each step echoing loudly. He looked at his legs. Shadows, just like his hands.

There was no sound besides the sound of his footsteps. The space around him was blank. He looked down and the floor was the same black as everything else.

He wasn't breathing, he didn't need to. He didn't feel his heartbeat. It didn't feel cold, but it didn't feel warm either. It felt like he was walking for months.

Nothing's changed. It's still dark, he's still a shadow. He tried to remember how he got here. He can't remember. His head feels blank.

…Who…is…he?

…Why…can't he remember?

…Why is he here

…Why….

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why

Why!

He knocked into something. It looks like glass.

A kid shows up behind it. ‘That's me’ his mind supplies.

        “Hello?” The kid speaks.

The kids's wearing a white jumpsuit made of cotton. His hair is all blonde with two red horns peaking out of it. A tail and a pair of wings of the same color are popping out of the jumpsuit as well.

“Who are you?” The kid asked with a frightened tone.

Suddenly there's a flash of white and it all comes back to him.

His name is Tommy, and he's dead. His best friend killed him in exile. He must be in limbo from what he remembers Phil saying when they acted like an actual family.

“My name is Tommy, and I'm you in the future.” He speaks.

The kid’s eyes widened with shock and surprise. “No… that can't be.”

Tommy walks forward and the glass shattered. He hugs the kids as he starts to cry.

“Shhh, it's ok. Let it all out” Tommy comforts as he rubs circles on the kid's back. The kid cries harder before it slowly fades into quiet sniffles.

“Are we going to be ok in the future? Are we going to be happy?” The kid asked with a glimpse of hope in his eyes.

Tommy sighs, “I don't know.” Great, now Tommy's starting to tear up.

The kid deflates in his arms, “oh,” He says quietly. Oh god, now the kid's feeling worse, way to go Tommy.

Tommy's vision starts blurring. The kid panics in his arms.

       “What's going on!”

“I don't know, hold on it's going to be ok!” Tommy speaks hurriedly. His vision is rapidly darkening.

The last thing Tommy hears is a scream before his vision goes fully dark.

Tommy gasps as he shoots up from his spot on the floor. He looks around and sees that he's still in the damn building that he died in.

Tommy's eyes land on Dream standing in the corner of the room they're in. His mask is positioned on the side of his face, covering one of his eyes which are gleaming in amusement.

Rage boils in Tommy's veins as he clenches his hands into fists. He then gets up from where he was sitting, grimacing at the pain that shoots up his spine.

Tommy then storms up to Dream, seething in anger. “YOU FUCKING BITCH! I WAS LEFT DEAD FOR MONTHS!” He screamed.

Instead of yelling back like Tommy expected, Dream raised an eyebrow. “Toms, it's only been three days, what do you mean?”

Those words only made Tommy even angrier. “YOU LYING MANIPULATIVE BITCH, I KNOW YOU'RE LYING” He continued.

Dreams cocked his head to the side and opened his communicator to show the date. It's the nineteenth. It's still the same month and year too. “ I'm not lying Toms, look.”

Tommy grumbles at the nickname but looks anyway. He gasps, “How! What? But- I- It was the sixteenth when you-” He couldn't finish what he was saying.

Dreams' eyes gleam as he smiles manically. He then pulls out a book to write down what Tommy said. Dream then looks at Tommy, “Well? Continue, tell me more!”

Tommy shivers, Dream looks excited, and that's never a good thing.

Tommy seemed to have waited too long as Dream frowned and pulled out a knife. “Talk, or I'll make you.” Dream says in a low, threatening tone.

“W-well it was dark?” Tommy stutters out. Dreams rushes to write that down and nods at Tommy to continue.

“There was no sound unless I was walking. I looked like a shadow, there was no light and no temperature. And-” Tommy stopped talking and Dreams stopped writing. Did Tommy really want to tell Dream all of this?

Dream interrupts his thinking by saying, “And?”

Tommy blinks before responding, “That's all.”

Dreams raised an eyebrow and Tommy freezed. Then Dream closed the book with a sigh, “Alright, go back to your tent.” Tommy just nods.

It's his seventeenth birthday when he finally escaped successfully. He hides at Techno's as they work together.

Months later Doomsday comes. Tommy watched as his brother, one of the people he looked up to, laughed along with his abuser as Tommy's home burned.

Months later again Tommy smiles as he watches the person who ruined his life get dragged into Pandora's vault.

Then he died in prison, making the whole server think he's gone for good. Most people celebrated, few mourned.

Days pass and Tommy's brought back and is let out of the prison. People stared, treating him like glass before it went back to normal.

Tommy then gets therapy and gets a husband and kids. Everything was ok. Everything was peaceful.

Then he and Tubbo drift apart, turning into a person Tommy doesn't recognize anymore. It hurt. It hurt so bad.

Then his kids get taken from him when his husband was off on a trip.

Tommy goes to try and save the three of his kids.

Now, he's stuck in prison, and he doesn't know if he's ever going out of it again.
