Chapter Text

2 days before the infection started. Mysta and Sonny were told to investigate something in the forest, they were told strange smells kept coming from the forest. Apparently animals kept rotting in the forest after the smells, or that’s what Pomu told them. No one was really gonna tell either of Mysta or Sonny what the case was, they knew it involved some type of virus from something in the forest but both of the men would back out if they knew that. They just told them to search the forest for anything weird looking or any type of fungus that could be making it smell horrible and what inside it made it so deadly.

“Ha- so Sonny the man or should i say my man, what’d ya think it happening in this forest? Maybe there's like some weird ass zombies roaming around?” Mysta laughed, he was always like this when him and Sonny were assigned to search some cases. The thing was….. only Mysta laughed, at his own jokes.

Sonny stared at Mysta for a good 10 minutes before slapping him across the head, “Shut the fuck up Mysta.” Mysta let out a yelp when he felt Sonny’s hand go across his head “Owww…. WERE SUPPOSED TO BE PARTNERS YOU KNOW! I can report you for harassment!” the half fox-boy joked following alongside a bright-haired man making the most awful jokes every 2 minutes.

The two kept walking until and smacking each other when one made a dumb joke- or just to be annoying to the other. Mysta thought the smell was just dead animals decomposing like normal, Sonny on the other hand couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was wrong. Naturally he called for backup, only 10 to 13 officers tho. After calling for backup Mysta spotted someone that looked oddly similar to one of their friends.

“Dude- Sonny doesn't that kinda look like pomu or am i losing my shit already??” Mysta pointed out to Sonny, trying to look “discreet” (he was very obviously pointing at the person). Sonny stared at the person, trying to examine them the best he could “nah man, who else has blonde hair and the size of a damn fairy” he said in a sarcastic tone, he didn’t really know if it was Pomu or not tho, he prayed it wasn't tho. Mysta and Sonny made sarcastic comments to each other before they heard screaming from someone they couldn't recognize.

Both the fox-boy and bright haired immediately panicked and started screaming….. A Lot which attracted things that really did look like zombies. Mysta grabbed Sonny’s wrist and just started running and screaming, Sonny just ran along he was just as scared as Mysta right now. Neither of them knew where they actually ran to but at least they found a broken down shack they could hide in for now. Neither of them even wanted to question if one of them was Pomu or even another of their friends.

Sonny entered the shack first, or he wanted to. He paused at the door looking at the dead body, he called out to Mysta to look at this, “Hey- Mysta, this body it has bite marks and eugh…” he paused mid his sentence trying to not gag from the smell and sight “- and chunks… bitten out of it.” Mysta peeked his head over Sonny’s shoulder, he stepped back after looking at the body gagging just at the smell “Holy shit dude- that actually smells fucking rancid oh my god and why does it look like human bites! What the fuck are we investigating?!! I did not become a detective to see this stuff man!” Mysta screamed, pacing back and forth.

3 days before Pomu got infected, or even noticed she felt sick, stuck in her own skin. The day she went into the forest to examine plants and mushrooms, Pomu found- no stepped on a colourful looking mushroom. The fairy swore it looked edible but the smell it released after stepping on it was the worst thing she could’ve ever smelt in all her years of exploring the forest.

Pomu walked slowly to where both Sonny and Mysta worked, “Hey little briskadet!” She smiled, patting the briskadet on the head, she continued speaking “Surely you would be so kind to tell me where Sonny and Mysta are right?” Pomu asked in the sweetest voice she could manage.

The briskadet looked up at Pomu, pointing at the left. After getting directions she trailed off to report the incident.

2 days after reporting the strange smells from the forest, Pomu had been feeling weird. Even in the coldest rooms she kept sweating, too much sweat for a regular human. Everyday Pomu swore she kept feeling something watching her, out of fear she kept her eyes open at all times until they became red.

Each minute Pomu would randomly twitch, she didn't think anything of it tho just thought it was random chills going through her body, the nosebleeds weren’t normal or random though. It was constant, “Pomie, are you feeling sick? You seem.. Really ill. Me and fina are worried” Elira spoke, snapping Pomu out of her thoughts. The fairy stared at the mermaid and dragon for minute,

“Don't worry Eli! I’m alright just a bit sweaty- and i think the dryness is just making my nosebleed! You and fina have nothing to worry about!” Pomu smiled at her two childhood-best friends. She tried to cover any sign of her being ill from those two.

Finana walked with Elira talking about their worries for Pomu, “Do you really think she’s sick? I mean.. Arent sonny and mysta investigating something in the forest that Pomie usually walks in?” Finance asked, looking up at Elira with a worried expression. Elira thought about it for a minute, “Fina, i'm sure she’s fine and just sick with a mini-virus!” The blue-dragon smiled trying to stay positive. She didn't wanna overreact her long-time crush just being sick, yeah she wasn’t concerned at all totally.

Elira chased after Pomu, it was supposed to be their daily walk but Elira accidentally got busy talking to Selen. “My forever wait!-” Elira paused attempting to catch her breath, “I got caught up speaking to Selen about something so I couldn’t exactly make it on time, forgive me won't you?” the blue haired girl asked looking at the fairy with pleading eyes.

“MY SUNSHINE! You made it!” Pomu gave her a weak smile as she held out her hand for Elira to hold. It’d be difficult for someone to think they werent dating, even though they had mutual crushes on each other they never confessed just yet. “Eli i thought you were forgetting me for a second! Thank- thank you for coming still.” The fairy hugged the dragon before they started walking together.

Elira let out little giggles as her and Pomu walked. While walking together Pomu felt like something- her skin was closing up on her, “Eli- can we-” she paused letting go of Elira’s hand, scratching at her arms

“Pomie let’s get you back okay? You're sick aren't you?” Elira asked picking up Pomu to bring her back with Finana

?? years ago, When finance, pomu, and elira were all children. Ever since they were around 3 or 4 they were the most inseparable trio you could think of. Wherever elira went, finana and pomu followed. Finana knew elira and pomu had some feelings for each other from when they were young to the present time, she always tried things to get them to “accidentally” kiss or just hold hands.

“Ewiwa!! You gotta confess to Pomie!!” Finana giggled pointing at Pomu who was sitting on the grass waving to both of them. “What?! No way! Pomie is way too good and pretty for me!” elira whispered dragging finana to sit down with pomu

“Fina and my sunshine!” pomu shouted hugging both of them tightly and giving elira a little kiss on her cheek, making finana squeal at the sight her ‘ship’ sailing

Elira froze, blushing bright as a tomato after pomu gave her a smooch on the cheek “awesome…….” she mumbled giving pomu a little kiss back

After finana was done squealing about her two best friends basically kissing (but not confessing to each other yet) they decided to tell some stories and just talk about the silliest things totally not what boys would look cute together.

“Fina and Eli, I need to go.” Pomu said, looking down trying to force herself to not attack either of them, her skin felt like it was gonna crush her so she had to force herself to not rip her skin off infront of either of them. “I’m sorry- i don't wanna get either of you sick” she lied. She didn't wanna hurt them, especially not her sunshine elira.

Elira stared at her for a minute, before speaking up “You’ll be back right? Once you're better?” elira asked pomu “Yeah. I’ll be back soon my sunshine.” she smiled at elira, trying to not cry in front of either of them.

“Pomie be safe! If you come back dead ill drag you down from heaven by your wings.” Finana laughed, giving pomu one last hug before she went away into the forest “Wait- My forever, before you go!” Elira grabbed pomu’s face looking at her for a good while

“My sunshine i have to go now-” pomu was cut off by elira kissing her, for the first time on the lips, “I love you my forever come back safe!” elira smiled at the fairy letting her face go. Elira and finana watched as pomu walked into the forest

Pomu felt a odd sense of guilt as she walked farther into the forest, sitting down at a tree as she started scratching at her arms as if it'll free her from a invisible cage, after 12 minutes of scratching, turning her skin raw and bloody she started puking blood, too much of it.

*cough* I'M SORRY FOR SUCH A LONG WAIT BUT just a quick update I will start doing more chapters soon :')!! I just have to stream, get home and everything and I'll be back to writing soon I promise!!! I DIDN'T FORGET!!! Anyway.....should I continue doing chapters by wave debut or just write it all together for the rest? :D okay byebye I'll see you guys when I put my fingers to work again~!
