The Past Job

Summary:

Of all the Jobs that Team Leverage pulled, there is one Job the team doesn't like to talk about.

It's a Job that nearly cost them. A Job that nearly cost them their Hitter and his blood family.

It's a job that all started with a phone call.

This is the Job where the team learns about Eliot Spencer's Enemies and what those Enemies are willing to do to get in to Eliot Spencer's head.

Notes:

I sort of didn't like where I was going with my other Story, The Bad Guys Revenge Job.

This one is going to be similar but also different.

*Jake Stone, Eliot Spencer, and Alex Walker aren't triplets, but they are brothers.
*Eliot Spencer and Alex Walker are Twins.

**Jake Stone is 32 years old while his brothers are 36 years old.

Chapter 1: The Call

Chapter Text

Eliot Spencer had made it his life mission to keep his deadly past in the past.

He knew how to use guns but didn't like them. He knew several ways to use knives for both cooking for and hurting people.

When he was thirty-four he stopped killing people. He stopped being the Hitman for hire. Instead he turned to Retrieval.

When Eliot had turned thirty-five, he became part of a team. And after a year that team turned in to his family. He would do anything for them. He would be their protector.

He hoped and prayed his family wouldn't find out his past. He would tell them when he was ready to. When he was ready to trust himself a little more with their lives.

Then one day his choice was taken from him. The day he was forced to tell his found family about his past deeds. It was the day he was forced to tell Parker about the worse thing he had ever done.

It was all because someone he had thought he had left behind had found his baby brother.

It was a Saturday afternoon when phone rang. Business at the Brewpub was slow and it wouldn't pick up again until about dinner time.

The Brewpub phone rang twice before someone answered it.

"Hello Brewpub" The employee answered.

When the caller spoke, the employee felt something cold go through him, and he shivered.

"I am looking for Eliot Spencer"

The employee looked around and spotted the asked for man. The employee gulped when he saw that the man was busy prepping what looked to be his famous chili.

He knew that the man didn't liked to be interrupted, when he was in the middle of something, but the way the caller spoke sounded like he wasn't going to take a "Can he call you back?"

"Sir, give me a moment"

The employee looked over at Eliot Spencer and muted the portable phone.

"Mr. Spencer, there is a phone call for you." The employee said as he handed Eliot the phone.

Eliot Spencer growled and then unmuted the work phone.

"This better-"

Eliot Spencer froze when he heard his caller speak.

"I have something that belongs to you, Spencer"

"And what would that be sir?"

Eliot really didn't want to stay on the phone with his caller.

"When was the last time you heard from Jacob Stone, Eliot?

"No" Eliot thought.

Eliot growled. He hadn't spoken to Jake in years and the last time he saw his little brother, it wasn't great. The last he heard and this news came from his twin brother Alex, that Jake was working at some Library here in Portland.

Eliot ignored the caller's questions and asked one of his own.

"What do you want Thompson?"

He knew exactly what the man wanted and Eliot was very reluctant to give it to him.

His caller must have sensed this because, Eliot heard a scream come over the phone.

"You know exactly what I want Spencer" Thompson said.

"Let me talk to him please." Eliot asked. He needed to know if his brother was alright.

"Eliot? It hurts."

Eliot frowned at his brother's voice. What did Thompson do?

"Jake where are you?"

Nothing.

"Alex is here too"

That couldn't be right, one of his contacts told him where his twin brother was just three weeks ago. Alex Walker was in the Philippines recovering from Hypertension.

"Jake, what did he do?"

"Cattle Prod to the back. Eliot, he shot-"

"I let you talk to him longer than I should have Spencer. Now give me what I want!"

Wait a minute. He was being an idiot.

"How did you know where I was Thompson? The last place I remember you being was in a Russian Prison, where I put you!"

Laughter answered him.

"I made some friends and they got me out. As for how I knew where you were, I have people who owe me favors. They bugged your office. Now give me what I want!"

With that Thompson hung up.

Eliot turned to the pale looking Employee.

"We are closing now Peter. Get whatever customers that are here out." Eliot ordered.

Peter nodded and hurried away to pass on Eliot's demands.

After Peter left, Eliot boxed his prepped ingredients and put them in the fridge. He washed his hands.

Eliot regretted the day he met Thompson. There had been something about the man, he hadn't liked.

The man was crazy and violent. Thompson had even managed to knock Eliot out cold once.

It was a retrieval job that nearly cost him his well his working parts and his left hand.

It was the only job where he told the person what he was retrieving and who for. The Russian mob doesn't take kindly to those who take from them without asking.

Thompson was then thrown into a Russian Prison and Eliot Spencer walked away with all his body parts.

It was also the first and last time he retrieved a person for someone.

Eliot shook the memory away. But now Thompson was asking for something else. Something Eliot no longer had a choice in.

Thompson wanted Eliot to spill his guts to not only his found family but to his brothers as well, via recording devices. Thompson wanted his brothers that every enemy that Eliot had made, knew about them.

His cellphone rang and Eliot glanced at the caller id.

NATE

Eliot sighed and answered his friend.

"Yes?"

"Get your ass up here, we need to talk now" Nate said and hung up.
