Chapter 1: Chapter 1 -Scars-
Chapter Text
After defeating the Hyde, Enid has gotten more recognition and respect from her fellow schoolmates; those furs who used to look down at her for not wolfing out have finally given their approval, but in Enid's words,” A little too late.” She doesn't need a pack, especially not one that used to treat her like nothing, she has Wednesday, and that's all that matters. Sure, she has others like Yoko and even Bianca; however, something in her stomach told her that Wednesday is different from them, particularly since the Hyde incident, for goodness' sake, she wolfed out because Wednesday was in trouble, that had to mean something, right?
Either way, Enid was excited to go back to Nevermore with her newly found emotions and achievements, and no, it's not because of Wednesday, because for all she knew, Wednesday just accepted her as her best friend, Enid was not going to ruin that, not even for a bit. Besides, after Tyler, Enid thought there is definitely no chance Wednesday will ever fall in likes with another person, let alone love another……… let alone her…..
Another day another year at nevermore, Enid hope that Wednesday doesn't find another monster like the Hyde, As much as she loved the girl she couldn't help but hope as she wants a peaceful year, though it would make another great story for her blog and like what she always says,” the best stories come from the greatest adventures.” But some adventures leave a nasty scar, and Enid hopes she doesn't get another scar. They look absolutely horrendous, in Enid's words,” OMG! This is literally the worst.”
Enid walked up to the mirror, her thoughts racing in her head, and a scar appeared on her face, reminding her of the troubles she had faced.
She remembered when she arrived back home after the event, her mom was and at long last Enid got what she always wanted, approval from a proud mom, she was waiting for this moment ever since her first failed wolf out, but at last the moment was shattered by her mothers shrieks,” What on earths green grass is that on your face, did it not heal, why isn't it healing? What would others say?” Enid tried to calm down her mother but she couldn't even get a few sentences in,” Mo-” her mother kept cutting her off as though her opinion didn't matter and nor did she care, “ Your making your life harder than it is, I hope you realise what predicament you have put us in.” and with a nail in the coffin her mother scoffed, “I should have known better to expect less from a disappointment like you, a wolf who can't even heal properly.”
Enid slapped herself awake, trying to stop thinking of what went down. She looked at her scar again and thought, “But my scar shows how much I am a warrior…” Her mouth ran dry from thinking positively after remembering all the words her mother said to her throughout the whole holiday.
Enid was so engrossed in putting on makeup that she didn't hear the door open.” What are you doing?” Wednesday said as she looked at Enid intently, waiting for her reply, “ Oh, you know, just covering a nasty scar, no biggie.” Enid said with a smile
Wednesday's eyebrow shot up in a mix of disbelief and confusion, “and pray tell, why would you cover up a masterpiece like that?” Enid's heart fluttered at the word ‘masterpiece’, “aha, don't you know Wednesday, Scars are totally not ‘it' this year,”
Wednesday went closer to Enid and grabbed a handkerchief from her pocket to give to Enid, “They’re tolerable when worn. Striking, even. I suppose they prove you’re not entirely without talent. Why conceal something that proves you're not entirely forgettable? Even I’m impressed, and that rarely happens.”
Did Wednesday just complimented her, Enid's eyes glowed with happiness because even if that compliment sounded back handed it was Wednesday best compliment she could have give and Enid knew that, she was taken aback from the compliment but in the end all she could say to Wednesday was, “Your right” like a little puppy following orders, but once she snapped out of her daze, her mothers reappeared in her head and followed up her words with, “ But it's giving tragic backstory and this year I'm going for something lighthearted, don't you agree?” Enid said as she rejected the handkerchief and continued to look in the mirror while she applied the makeup.
“No, I don't agree. That scar isn’t a tragedy, it’s a testament. Proof that you endured, clawed your way through darkness, and emerged victorious. It marks you as dangerous, and I find that... compelling. Anyone who suggests you should hide it lacks the stomach for real strength. It tells a story, and not the kind that ends in pity, but one that ends in blood on the floor and the monster defeated. And the fact that it’s etched into your skin only makes you more... captivating.” Enid listened in shock. She knew how Wednesday spoke, this wasn't some out of the pocket compliment, like the ones she gives Bianca after fencing or the ones she gives Eugene like sister, this wasn't something else, something in Enid's heart yearned it was what she thought it was but she knew she cant push Wednesday, that's right. She knew that this wasn't something deep; she knew that Wednesday probably said this to her like a best friend, she is special, but not special in that regard.
Wednesday continued her lecture,” I see strength there. Rage. Triumph. And something else, something that makes it impossible to look away. It suits you, in the way that danger suits the moonlight.”
“Gosh, Wednesday, you really have a way with words, what am I saying, you are a writer of course, you will have a poetic way of saying my scars are beautiful, I wish everyone else thought the same.”
“The opinions of others? Irrelevant at best, laughable at worst. Let them avert their eyes. Let them mumble their timid judgments behind closed doors. Their discomfort is not your concern. But me, I see it for what it is? And I admire it. I admire you.” Enid's breath hitched as she heard the last line as it echoed within her heart, but she wasn't special in that regard? Was she?
She refused to let that false hope take root, not even for a second. With a sharp shake of her head, she put her head into her hands, then dragged her fingers through her hair, as if trying to chase the thought away entirely. She felt the tears accumulating in her eyes, but she was too scared to let them run. She wanted to run up to Wednesday and bury her face in the other girls shoulder, cry her out while she hugged her tightly, Nevertheless she knew she couldn't, she held that urge in as she felt Wednesday will pull away from her even further if she allowed the thought to become reality, all she could do was blink slowly and bite her lip as she uttered the sentence, “ Aww, Wednesday, you’re seriously gonna make me cry—and like, not the dramatic eyeliner-running kind. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but... You comforted me. You. That’s a lot coming from you. I truly am grateful to be your friend.” With that being said, Enid closed her eyes tightly as she held her arms up in hopes her best friend would allow her. She felt the other girl move closer as she accepted the hug; it wasn't as tight as the one at the Hyde incident, but heck, who was Enid to complain? She got the local goth girl to hug her. The best part is that it wasn't even because of a monster this time, that's a total win for Enid, “eee Wednesday, enough sappiness it doesn't suit you, gosh its literally been such a long time since I've seen you and the first thing we do is start with emotional trauma as our icebreaker? Like a gloomy pool much on our first day, omg I didn't even properly greet you.” Enid gushed out as she ended the long-awaited hug as she held the shorter girl's shoulder to look her straight in the eyes to say with a smug smirk,” Howdy, roomie!!
The other girl could only respond with a sigh at Enid's antics at changing the atmosphere. Wednesday admired her social skills,” Hello Enid, what a dreadful day and a perfect way to start the year. I hope your holiday was as terrible and gruesome as mine.”
Enid chuckled at such a Wednesday response,” Mhm I guess you can say that.” truthfully it was a terrible holiday and not Wednesday type of terrible, it was actually terrible but of course wouldn't say that, she spread her arms out and let out a big sigh as she fell on top of her bed, “ It was the most terrible of terrible and the most gruesome of gruesome, Wednesday Oh do pray for me.”
Wednesday smiled in secret while she rolled her eyes at Enid’s dramatic response; she missed this; she missed Enid's laugh, voice, and even stupid, ridiculous pastel rainbow colors. She missed the girl deeply, but would she reveal that? No, this is Wednesday we are talking about. She reveals everything and nothing at the same time.
“Very well. I’ll consult my Grandmama for her…as you say…prayer.
“Wait, what?! Wednesday, please tell me you’re not talking about actual witchcraft again. I can’t emotionally handle another seance that involves tons of smoke and candles. Can't we just do an enchantment or like those talisman, I don't want another room fire.”
“Witchcraft? Enchantments are for children and bored housewives. I was thinking something more… ceremonial. Nothing says devotion like a sacrificial rite under a waning moon.”
“Gosh, for a joke, you're really going out.”
“ A joke, please, Enid, I thought you knew me better. I don't joke. I issue carefully curated statements laced with unsettling truths and deadpan commentary. Laughter is merely collateral damage.”
Enid laughed as she heard how serious her roommate was while she delivered that line.” OMG!! I need to catch up with Yoko, I'll see you later, roomie, I really am glad you're back, and I can't wait to gossip with you night long, yayy!” with that Enid rushed out of the room after she got up to fix her makeup, leaving her roomie behind.
Wednesday saw her compact mirror filled with that disgusting powder that has the ability cover the most delightful scar, she took the compact in her hand and disposed of it, appropriately, while she did so she felt another person's gaze on her, “ You can come out thing, i know your here” Wednesday said as she continued to destroy the compact while in the background she could faintly hear tapping of fingers, “ Don't you think Enid would mind you throwing her things in the bin.” thing signed
“I'm doing what is needed. She does not need this god awful invention, and you she will not find out about this, do I make myself clear, or do I need to get out my knife kit or break your nail polishes?” Wednesday threatened.
“ Never mind, carry on.” Thing backed away shyly, “Someone is in love .” Wednesday narrowed her eyes at Thing’s gestures .”What possessed you to say something so idiotic? Do you not value your life anymore, or are you tempting fate?”
“Say what you want, but if you lay a knife on me, Enid would be sad, and you will be angry that you made her sad.” Things signed with sass.
“Tsk. Your allegiance continues to teeter on the edge of betrayal. If you insist on voicing such absurd theories, you will not speak of them to anyone, especially Enid, for now I can't lay a single finger on you, but I can resort to other means, I trust I’ve made myself painfully clear.”
“My hands are closed.”
“ Good, let's hope they stay closed,” and with that, Thing scurried off, probably to vent with Enid about Wednesday's cruelty.
As Thing left, Wednesday sat with her thoughts as she unpacked her bags, she knew in her heart that her feelings for the wolf had changed, she didn't know when it started but she knew the breaking point was the hug at the Hyde incident that sealed her fate, the curse coursed through her veins like ink in water, subtle and inescapable, the mere sight of the colorful girl in tears, made her jaw clench, her eyes filled with rage and her heart in agony. Wednesday couldn't bear it, she couldn't keep it a secret, but she would rather have Enid as her best friend, someone she can always be around with, no questions asked, than someone who she lost, to confess the truth would be torture to Wednesday, the girl would love tortures, is now scared of the pain she would bear if Enid was no longer in her life, no she wasn't scared it was something more, it would be a type of agony that would bring no joy to her life, the type of agony that would leave in deaths arms.
Wednesday was dwelling in her bittersweet thoughts, to confess would be to light a fire in the hollow of her chest, one she hadn’t known existed, let alone needed. But with that flame came risk: the chance that Enid might turn away. Enid, the only one who could ignite such. And Wednesday? She wasn't sure she could withstand the silence that would follow.
So she remained, poised on the knife’s edge of revelation, stitched together with restraint and longing. Not out of cowardice, but out of the desperate hope that saying nothing might be enough to keep Enid beside her.
For Wednesday, that hope was more terrifying than death itself. And like death, they bury the dead; she will bury hope.
Chapter 2: Chapter 2 -The Start-
Summary:
Enid tells the group she has no plan but Yoko decides otherwise.
Chapter Text
Meanwhile with Enid
Enid was sitting alongside Yoko, Bianca, Ajax, and Eugene. After the whole Hyde incident they grew closer together on a side note: Xavier had to leave to another school on his fathers's demand, yeah the whole arrest and Hyde was so not on his wishlist, oh well that left no competition for Enid, no Tyler and no Xavier, that a win in her books.
The group came closer due to they Hyde, the saving the school, took a toil on them, call that trauma bonding at its finest, but Enid didn't care, she finally has a place where she belongs, friends that respect and care for her, not some fur who will humiliate her or make fun of her, true friends, as much as she wanted to call them her pack she knew she couldn't, it would be unfair to them, but she truly did have a deep regard for them.
"Hello Enid, earth to Enid, are you there?" Yoko said, trying to get Enid's attention, Enid snapped out of her daze, "Yeah, I'm here, sorry, jeez, what did you say again, Yoko?" "I said, sooooo how's Little Ms.Goth Girl?", "What do you mean by that?"
"Yoko, seriously. Enough circles. Either she's too mortified to admit it, or she's completely clueless which honestly, wouldn't surprise me at this point." Bianca interrupted, clearly irritated from the lack of straightforwardness, "Enid dear, you like Wednesday, correct?"
"Wahhh- who sa-." Enid stammered out before she was again interrupted by Bianca, "Enid, seriously? Even Ajax who once confused a lamppost for a prefect, picked up on your goo-goo eyes for Wednesday. We all noticed you gained affection from that little she-devil you call 'Willa', and don't try to rebut it, we have seen it, and clearly we can't understand why you can't just tell her. It was cute until it turned pathetic." Bianca let out an exaggerated sigh. "And now? You're just orbiting her like some pastel sad puppy, waiting to be at her beck and call. And for what? You think she's gonna spontaneously write you a sonnet in bat's blood? Grow a backbone and tell her ."
"Ouch, Bianca, easy does it, we just came back, maybe Enid has a plan," Eugene said, trying to support Enid in his best abilities. " um yeah no, I really don't have a plan nor need one. also ok ouch much."Bianca scoffed at Enid's words
"I'm just telling the truth, I'm tired of seeing her as a kicked puppy on the road whenever Xavier came up to Wednesday." before she could continue Enid chimed in , " Ok Second of all, yeah, okay, maybe I do like her. A little. A lot. Whatever." she said as others hummed to her indecisive confession as they let her continue, "But it's not that easy, Bianca. This is Wednesday we're talking about. She shows affection by threatening people with knives and quoting Edgar Allan Poe. I can't just waltz up and be like, 'Hey bestie, wanna kiss under a full moon and share our innermost thoughts and feelings?'"
She huffs and her arms cross around her chest as she mumbles out a "Also? You may think I gained her affection, but I don't think that's the case. Think about it. Look, I get why you all think she might feel something. Trust me, I've overanalyzed every look, every eyebrow twitch. But like... maybe this is just how she acts, you know? I'm her only actual friend, so what if this is just normal Wednesday affection and I'm reading way too much into it?". Enid spouted in rambles, clearly stating how she doesn't care if Wednesday likes her back, there's too much risk involved. Enid's eyes started to gloss over as she kept on speaking while everyone else was concentrating on her words.
Bianca was glancing at Enid's body language she knew that she was right, this is Wednesday, an unpredictable mess, a type of girl that at one point didn't even care about Enid and almost risked Enid's life, a girl who doesn't even know how to treat friends, Bianca softly whispered,"Overcompensation."
Yoko heard Bianca with her vampire hearing and repeated Bianca's words, " Wednesday doesn't know how to treat friends, so she does what she thinks is best to keep Enid on her side, hence overcompensation."
Eugene nodded strongly," Hey! That's progress in Wednesday's situation." The gang nodded at Eugene's statement, while Ajax pondered," Okay, okay....pause....just like, vibe with me for a sec like maybe our little braided girl actually has the hots for Enid and yalls are just bummers.... like dawgs maybe her threats and crap are just her way of saying I love you in Morse code but like, with black lace" Everyone looked at Ajax gobsmacked as ajax doesn't even look like he is in the same room with them yet he said such obvious things but did he even listen to what Enid said. Everyone mentally face-palmed at Ajax and his bad listening skills.
Yoko laughed dryly as she said, "Next time you take a trip down mushroom lane, maybe let your neurons phone a friend first." Ajax just turned his head away, ignoring Yoko's comment, " I'm not always high" he said a hush tone to himself.
Whereas Enid just looked at Ajax blankly, mentally thinking, "he just missed the whole point"
Enid then said in retaliation for Ajax's confusion,"Ajax buddy, I love you but like.....What if I'm wrong? What if I say something and she pulls a total Wednesday and just... detaches? Like, boom. No more late-night heart-to-hearts, no more weird dark forest strolls. Just silence. Think about that." Enid's next words were getting slower as though she didn't want to offend anyone as she said, "I don't want to be another Xavier. I don't want her to cut me out because I feel too much. I'd rather keep her close as my best friend than risk losing her completely."
"Oh, sweetheart, let's not even pretend Xavier counts in this equation. That was a whole separate disaster with its own sound effects," she says, flicking her hand outwards as if throwing the past away. " But I get you, Wednesday is batshit unhinged, borderline feral, she can go off the rails anytime and anyhow, I respect your decision for now but mark my words, I predict you two will be a thing." She ended that with a knowing smirk as she said her last words, "I'm telling you now: she's already yours. It's just that you two are just too scared to admit it. So take your time... but don't act shocked when I say 'I told you so.' Because I will say it."
Yoko re-entered the conversation by saying," I'm with B on this, Enid. I've seen the looks, as crazy as Wednesday is, she still goes out of her comfort zone for you. And I, Yours truly, will even be testing the theories. I'll make sure I find concrete evidence, baby, and make that little gremlin confess to you. Wait and watch, Enid, I'm doing this for you." Yoko ended her little speech by tipping her shades forward and winking at Enid.
" Yeah, Enid, as a fellow hummer, it's my duty and responsibility, as well as Wednesday's friend, to assist her when in need, so I will definitely set you two up."
Enid mentally face-palmed, 'Did anyone listen to a smidge of what I said?' she thought to herself in confusion.
The group chuckled at Yoko's plans and theories when Wednesday came down to see Enid, well, the group, but mainly Enid." oh oo Someone's goth gf has arrived" Yoko whispered as Enid elbowed her in the stomach, "Ow Enid that actually hurt.", Enid smirked, "good that will teach you" With a shocked face turned to other saying," Wednesday's influence i tell you." but voice cut in before she could go on, "What about my influence, Tanka?" "Nothing, just talking about your family's influence."
"Mhm. I'm painfully aware of the oppressive weight my family name carries. I'll take that lousy excuse of a compliment, Tanaka," she said as she made a curt nod to the gang. "Nice of you to join us, Addams, and welcome back," Bianca politely said as she nodded back to Wednesday, "It's oddly comforting to return. I briefly considered joining Tyler in confinement and surrendering to madness, but where's the thrill in that when I can orchestrate chaos on my own terms, in far more creative ways here." dry laughs came Wednesday's way, as other thought in disbelief, 'yeah sure you came back for the chaos and not a certain pastel keyboard.'
In a shocking surprise that caught Ajax and his bambozeled mind away, he noticed something different to Wednesday, blame it on the grass or whatever but he knew his eyes weren't playing tricks on him, but just to be sure he softly whispered to the boy next to him, "Genie my boy, i could be totally of the rails but is Wednesday actually blinking or is it me whose blinking that makes me think she is blinking, you feel me?" Eugen looked at Ajax and back to Wednesday and to his surprise Ajax was actually right, Wednesday was blinking more, i mean she still blinks far less but instead of blinking maybe twice a week excluding rest and sleep, here Wednesday is basically fluttering her eyes, like maybe 5 blinks a minute maybe give or take.
"Ajax, for once, your eyes are not playing you. Wednesday is actually blinking I need to tell B this new find." Eugene tried getting Bianca's attention without drawing suspicion, and gestured to Bianca without making it so obvious.
he pointed at Wednesday and than to his eyes, Bianca who got the hint, looked back to Wednesday with a raised brow, her eyes widen slightly as a lightbulb appeared above her, and she noticed it too but she thought nothing of it, so the goth girl blinks what of it. Ajax saw that so he took it in his powers to kick Yoko under the table who returned an irritated look at Ajax, than she detected Eugene's gestures as quite frankly Ajax was in his mind somewhere lost.
The gang was glad that Enid and Wednesday were too wrapped up in their little Wenclair world to notice their blatantly observing eyes, Yoko was not a fool and even with shades, she noticed them in their own bubble plus the blinking, and call her crazy but she started making theories like a conspiracist she is.
It was subtle, but it was there. For some, they would still say Wednesday doesn't blink, but this gang knew it wasn't just that; it was as if Wednesday was blinking more than the usual, more humanely.
Yoko proceeded to go on her phone so as to not distract the Wenclair world
Wenclair mission( a group comprised of everyone but Wednesday and Enid)
CountVampGlam: ummmmm guys did you peep what I peeped
QueenB: Do you mean those blinks?
BeeBoy: I think she's just showing she's more human now.
StonerScales: Dawwwwg, She fluttering her eyes cause in L O V E, Y'alls I peeped this before anybody, I dare y'alls to call me dumb hehehehe.
CountVampGlam: You're dumb
StonerScales: :(
Beeboy: Guys, Wednesday took Enid somewhere.
QueenB: Probably to rendezvous with her puppy
The chat ended as the two polar opposite girls left, "soooo, are we gonna talk about that? She literally just came here to take Enid away, not even sparing a simple hello to her fellow hummer," Eugene said in a dejected tone.
"Who cares for that, this could be proof, I mean blinking when she never blinked before especially maybe not around us, like maybe she just blinks around Enid, that gotta mean she is safe enough to blink only around Enid, right? I mean, the only time Wednesday closed her eyes around anyone was when Enid hugged her at the Hyde incident", Yoko said in a confident tone
" like duuuude. Yes. Forget the vibes and the weird, meaningful stares; let's go full-on experiment mode. Test the theory. Hypothesis: Wednesday's lowkey got the hots for Enid. Method: chaos." Ajax spurted out
"Just because of blinking," Eugene popped out.
"Oh, please. What's next interpreting cloud shapes to decode her feelings? 'Ooo, that one kinda looks like a heart pierced by a scythe, must mean she's in love!' Be serious." Bianca rolls her eyes as she continues, "Also, how are we going to prove this? like record them and go to Enid while shoving a clip of her blinking into Enid's face like it's some grand confession. 'Look! Eye moisture! True love confirmed!' Is that how desperate we are? And what is that going to prove, that Wednesday is not some haunted doll who doesn't blink?" Bianca chimed in.
" I guess you're right, but it is a step, is it not?" Yoko said still willing to seem desperate enough to repeat herself.
"You know what yo do you boo, anything that can make the clock wheels turning in Enid's head, we just need to show her she isn't as delusional as she thinks she is but just so you know this rock bottom desperate even for you."
"Hey! Whatever gets the ball rolling from here, right?"
Finding evidence is harder, finding evidence with Wednesday being person, is like finding a needle in a haystack, you don't know what proof is and what proof isn't. No wonder Enid is having a hard heck, Yoko is so desperate she is using Wednesday's blinking as proof, Its hard to gain proof when Wednesday is so reserved and the only person we saw her interact with as a love interest was Tyler but even with that, was she even in love or in likes of Tyler, Damn this will be harder than expected. Yoko thought as her brain was now concluding with the information she has.
Yoko's theories
1. blinking? (ridiculous i know but idc)
2.Wednesday only allows Enid for hugs and physical touch
3.Wednesday smiles? at Enid(need to see if that girl actually even smiles)
4. is a hypocrite( like tf you mean i cant borrow your pen but Enid is allowed to borrow your prized possessions, i smell favoritism).
5.to be continued

Chapter Text
Yoko was in full scheming mode because when your bestie's spiraling over her goth-coded situationship, you don't just sit back and vibe. No. You act. She'd had enough of Enid moping around like a love-struck golden retriever with glitter withdrawal.
The holiday break had been... an experience for Yoko, and she does not want to go through that again. Wednesday, being the Addams she is and not a slave to technology, had opted for raven-delivered letters like they were characters in a Victorian horror-romance. Romantic? Sure. Also deeply unsettling, because imagine a raven coming at night to your window, tapping the glass frantically, of course, one would panic, but this is Wednesday, and
Enid, naturally, recognized the raven with a tied scroll on its leg and wrote back.
But every time the raven was in the air, she'd vent to Yoko about the painfully slow exchange rate between conversations. Still, she waited. Every time. And she always replied, with whatever means necessary, because this wasn't just for anyone. This was for her Wednesday. The girl who plagued her mind as she wrote to her. The girl whose words cut deep in her heart forever burned in her memory, you could say Wednesday had some influence on Enid, especially the WWWD, What would Wednesday do? She admired the girl to a great extent.
Plus, she owes it to Enid. The girl has helped her get with Divina, another siren in Bianca's group, if Enid can play matchmaker, so could Yoko. All she had to do was gain concrete facts to shove in Enid's face or she could just do the worse and hypnotize Enid, but who was she kidding Wednesday will probably drive a stake through her heart while smearing garlic paste in it, before she could ever lay a finger on Enid, you know what? Wednesday could even feel the intent and stop Yoko, and that's the scary part, anything that involves Enid, she will be the first to know even if they were miles apart.
An idea flashed in Yoko's mind, and that's when she started writing a careful, detailed plan.
Phase One: Blink Watch 24/7
Yoko might have gone off the rails a little with this, but all is fair in love and war; she was sure that the Greek goddess of love, Venus, was approving of her plans in the sky. It wasn't about proving humanity. It was about proving human emotion, that emotion, my dear readers, was Wednesday's emotion for Enid, in Yoko's mind, " What emotion? I don't know, but something is better than nothing.' Every micro-movement-level, Yoko swears she will catch it all like the true vampire she is, as well as a gossip queen who thrives off information like blood.
She recruited Ajax, who, let's face it, was made for a poorly disguised spy mission, but unfortunately, the only one crazy enough to join this excursion. Bianca called her mad, and well .....Eugene just thinks Wednesday is now capable of showing human attributes. So Yoko was left with Ajax, a poor choice, but she had no options like zilch, so it was this or nothing, and she would rather have something. However Ajax was as suspicious as a human pretending to be an animal in a zoo; it was ridiculous and noticeable.
He had a pair of tinted glasses, a phone camera held suspiciously sideways, and was peeping at Wednesday. Yoko rolled her eyes back as she saw this scene, mentally complimenting why the goddess of Venus was not on her side, 'Why me, why Ajax" is what she kept thinking about. She had to physically drag the snake-haired boy across the courtyard to a nearby bench to have a... good chat with him
"Ajax, for the love of Venus, I texted you 'BE SUBTLE'. Do you call this subtle?" Yoko vented out
"Huh- Venus? Ummmmm dawg relax I'm sure this Venus will love this, and subtle shiiiiii this is subtle, no one can tell, matter of fact I am the definition of subtle."
"Please, you're the definition of a lousy excuse! Honestly, if chaos had a face, it would be yours." Ajax snorted her comment, "Yo bro! You're the crazy one who suggested this, I'm just following what my heart tells me for my gal Enid. Team Wenclair for the win!!!!!"
Yoko was taken aback, is she crazy? I mean, sure, she knew that, but this coming from the boy who ate washing powder because he mistook it for sherbert is calling her crazy. With bewildered eyes, she said, "Excuse me? Do you have soap in your mouth or would you like some sherbert?'
Ajax's mouth dropped as he heard that, "Excuse you, that was one time and you know it, plus anybody else would have mistaken it too!!" "Yeah, yeah, keep telling that to yourself, maybe get another rinse cycle while you're at it.. God knows you need a cleansing detox."
"You know what, I may need a break to detox, but at least I'm not a consistent bloodsucker for the human anatomy, yet your failing biology as a vampire, tell me how?"
Someone started approaching them due to the two's loud bickering.
"Easy does it, guys. What's the racket? The bees seem to be agitated from this abuse." Eugene butted alongside Enid.
"Ummmm guys, what's this I hear about videoing Wednesday, ughhh...I can't believe this, did you forget my words I told you guys, so uncool." Enid, who is blatantly getting annoyed at the two's buffoonery, "Yoko, I told you this is a bad idea, and Ajax, it's kinda sweet you're helping and in for that, but oh Ajax, not this time."
"Hey! How come the ex bf gets a 'sweet Ajax' and I get 'Yoko no'?" Yoko said in a mocking tone.
"Maybe it's because he is the one who didn't come up with this plan???" Enid said while gesturing to the whole mess of a show.
Yoko started to feel bad for not listening to enid but in her heart she was screaming that she should've excluded Ajax and done this for herself , as Enid clearly did not like the plan and Ajax just joined because he is Ajax, Yoko started her plotting in her mind but to her demise Enid caught that "Im plotting" face she knew that face oh too well.
" Yoko! Let's no more-" Enid was cut off as a certain raven head appeared, interrupting her lecture. " I felt a strange pair of eyes as I walked. Naturally, I assumed that it must have been coming from here. And I'd say my instincts were correct, I don't pose that as a question because I know I am, so would you all like to explain yourselves, or do I have to deduce the reasoning behind this?" Yoko hated how accurate Wednesday's senses are, especially since she is a normie, was she even a normies, she did say something that meant Addams are their own occult anyways, not the topic at hand, she then began to ponder how to swerve the conversation, if she can even do so with Wednesday as her judge.
Enid jumped in as she saw Yoko's face, "Hey! roomie, your senses are absolutely killer, you know, like they should recruit for a spy force!!" Wednesday looked at Enid with a smug expression for the compliment, "Mhm, I'd rather operate outside the confines of governmental incompetence."
Yoko was glad Enid butted in, times like this proves her point, Enid is a great distraction as Wednesday's focus is only on her.
Wednesday only cares about Enid!
As the two started to immerse into each other, Yoko knew it was time, (You thought I forgot the rest? No ways! They just always make themselves as background characters as the Wenclair universe starts to appear in front of them, they know less than to interrupt them. They know Wednesday couldn't care less about their so-called commentary or opinions on literally anything.)
Yoko saw her opportunity as she slowly grabbed her phone, flash and sound were both off, the angle was perfect, all she had to do was to hit record. Which she did, she doesn't care if she is shameless or a bit bonkers.
Without a flicker of emotion, Wednesday's gaze brushed the phone, her awareness veiled beneath meticulous stillness. Whatever scheme the pale girl was nurturing, Wednesday couldn't yet decipher, but she intends on figuring it out ... or, in her mind, to introduce just enough chaos to make it interesting.
But for now, it would have to wait as her smittenness with a certain vibrant girl took hold of her time, and her mind was filled with persistent thoughts that were caged in her mind, dangerous to the outside but yet too radiant enough to be set free. Enid was locked in her mind, and there was no key to let her go.
Without warning, Wednesday grabbed Enid's hands, it was firm and intentional, astonishing Enid in the process, as it was usually Enid who always initiated some form of desire for physical contact, it had always been her reaching first, offering touch like a question, and hoping Wednesday might answer. Arms lifted or palms waiting, these moments had been hers to initiate. But not this time. This time, the tables were turned, and Enid did not mind it at all, not one bit; in fact, she reveled in it. Because, for once, it wasn't about waiting. It was confirmation that the desire wasn't one-sided. Then again, this was just hope speaking, hoping that it was a confirmation and not some fluke she saw through rose-tinted glasses.
Wednesday led Enid away from the group, but Yoko already saw what she needed to note down.
Phase one complete
Phase two was simple, OVERANYLYSE the video, Yoko was good at analyzing, and it helped that she was a vampire, as she can pick out the finer details that normies cant, its not her fault God created her that way, she giggled to herself as she the wheels in her head started to turn, Ajax and Eugene just a shared a concerned gaze as they silently agreed to back away as to avoid getting involved with a delusional fan.
In Yoko's head she was drafting up how put what she found in words, however she needed help but the two had already left alone and Bianca will probably say something on the lines of, "If I wanted to waste my time, running on a baseless theory I would go on a males podcast, (a/n you know which type I’m talking about) i am one to win and succeed with facts not with delusion." So she's out of the picture, leaving Yoko one person she could trust, someone who was too in love with her to say no, Divina.
"But babe, this is for the greater good for mankind," Yoko quacked out.
"I don't care if it's for the greater good for me, let alone mankind, I am so not messing with Enid's bodyguard of a friend," Divina grumbled out, feeling tired of Yoko's antics.
"Listen, I get that, but you're the only one-"
"Only one because everyone is smart enough to not be this ridiculous, come on, blinking, has your no blood diet gotten to your head?" Divina interrupted
"Please, Divina, one time, please! I'll do anything in return, you're the only one I have."
Divina pondered for a moment and cautiously asked, "Anything?....."
"Anything, and if I go back on my word, I promise you on my coffin right here you can drive a stake in my heart."
"Jeez, I'm not like Wednesday, we don't have to go so far, but fine, however, you better do as I say when it is required of you."
"Yes, ma'am." Yoko then saluted Divina in agreement.
Yoko started explaining to Divina her plans, "Ok, where to start, so we all know that Addams is batshit crazy but because of her lack of expressing human emotions. She doesn't feel like the rest of us. If she does, it's like watching static dance across an old TV there, but warped like im still not too sure if she even has the capabilities of doing so but in my research, i found her to be showing emotions in a very vague and indifferent ways, like romantic but if you were lovers in a slasher film who survive each other long enough to fall in love. Call it emotional taxidermy... feelings, preserved. Love, dissected. Still very much alive, just... differently."
Divina looked intrigued at Yoko, "Wow, and they say love is dead."
"I mean, for Wednesday, love is probably dead, but that's a good thing.....I think," She whispered the last part to herself.
"Ok, so we got that out of the way, what does this have to do with blinking?" Divina said while trying not to sigh at the word blinking.
"So we all know Wednesday does not blink right, unless sleeping or like twice a week, whatever, I don't care, but you get my point?"
"Yes, we all know that unfortunately... too many staring contests lost."
Yoko continued to explain, " Ok, in Ajax's words, 'vibe with me', entertain my words and thoughts, Wednesday doesn't blink because she feels the need to see everything like she doesn't trust anyone? Like blinking may make her miss a betrayal, or like some bizarre way of showing she is emotionless, but yet during the Hyde incident, she does the impossible and we all saw that girl fully close her eyes while also hugging, emphasis on hugging another human, another human, which is ENID!"
Divina started to wonder if she was the dumb one, like you know how people say, 'Your partner is a reflection of who you are.' Because if she pulled a girlfriend like Yoko, a passionate, intense, borderline terrifying gf(Not Wednesday terrifying tho), what did that say about her? Anyways ,she knew Yoko made a good point. This is Wednesday we are talking about, a girl who would flay you alive if your split ends grazed her hoodie. Blinking, trusting, hugging? That wasn't in her default settings. Except... It happened. And Enid was the anomaly that made it possible. But it was still far-fetched even for her. Even if she tried to justify it, she couldn't; she seriously thought Yoko lost the point.
"How about this, my dear intellectual babe of a girlfriend, as interesting as your research is, why don't we scra- I mean, we can write down a draft of this right? And maybe just maybe not tell anyone about this, let's keep this between us, hmm?" Divina said as she held Yoko's hand, as she gently kissed her cheek. Looking at her sweetly, hoping her persuasion is working because she doesn't want to see Yoko be seen as a crazy wild vampire.
"I guess you're right, this was crazier than I thought, I think imma stop that no blood diet and focus on my other points, but I'm keeping this in my back pocket, 'Desperate times call for Desperate measures'"
Divina was glad her gf listened to her, otherwise she would've really gone mad alongside Yoko. But she knew she couldn't stop the girl even if she could.
Report:
Mission one failed, but I am on to you, Addams. You better count your days, as I will make Wenclair happen, whether by fire or knife
Yoko’s theories
1. Blinking? (ridiculous, I know, but idc) Crazy idea, but keeping it for a just in case.
2. Wednesday only allows Enid for hugs and physical touch
3 . Wednesday smiles? at Enid(need to see if that girl actually even smiles)
4. is a hypocrite( like, tf you mean I can't borrow your pen but Enid is allowed to borrow your prized possessions, I smell favoritism).
5. to be continued
Next mission coming soon

Chapter Text
Wednesday was fully aware that she treated her roommate differently from everyone else. She let Enid get away with things she would never tolerate from others; her rules, she enforced with ironclad resolve alongside malice-laced threats, seemed to bend in Enid’s favor. Even their classmates had begun to notice: there was something unmistakably special about Enid in Wednesday’s eyes.
They saw how the girl treated Tyler or even Xavier versus Enid. You could argue and say, well, Enid is her best friend, and that's what best friends do, but is that how best friends act? (I certainly can say my bsf and I don't act like that way). There was something different with the atmosphere that surrounded the two, be it the way Wednesday gazes at Enid with deep longing and care, or the way Enid would gain a red tint on her cheeks as she grew flustered around the other. It was just those small things that added up like drops of blood at a crime scene, barely noticeable at first, but impossible to ignore.
Every detail can be used as evidence. In this case, it just so happens to be tiny moments that were shared between the two, nothing dramatic, nevertheless, still there.
Yoko was sure she could make people come on board this adventure, as it is not as crazy as blinking; she can admit she was a bit delusional in that sense, and she can own it. She gathered everyone on their free periods, well, everyone except the couple(...couple yet!!).
“Yoko, please tell me you haven’t dragged us into one of your wild-eyed theories again. If this is some chaotic spiral masked as insight, I’m not bailing you out or validating it. Listen, I strategize, I don’t swindle. There’s a difference, and I suggest you learn it.” Bianca started while she folded her arms and tilted her head at Yoko.
“Jeez, Bianca, what happened to believing your friends-” “Ill believe them if they provide me facts and not baseless statements” Bianca interjected Yoko,” Ok, i get it, you want a prim and proper plan so hear what i have to listen to, are you ok with that?”
Bianca stared at Yoko while she tapped her finger on the table as she thought about it. She was Yoko’s friend? Acquaintance? Honestly, she doesn't know how she got roped into this group, as they were so mismatched. It could be said it was all due to the Hyde incident that brought them close, but they were still entirely different from each other. Be that as it may, Bianca knew Yoko would help her if she required it, of course.
After a brief silence as everyone looked at each other, Bianca broke it, “Alright, Yoko. You’ve got the floor. Impress us. But I swear, if this turns into another one of your cryptic deep dives with zero receipts, I’m walking out.”
Yoko smiled, “That's all I needed to hear B, Ok get this, we all know how Addams likes her personal space, and if you get remotely close or try to touch her, an axe comes flying to your face.”
The group nodded in agreement, “Even to her fellow hummer, she still threatens me.”, Eugene grumbled.
“Dude, seriously, I’ve got no clue where she hides all that stuff on her small frame. She’s like a walking Swiss Army knife….just more creepy and all.” Ajax said with disbelief on his face while the other nodded their head to his words.
“Exactly!! But somehow that rule doesn't apply to Enid??? Like guys be for real right now, even her own family member dont hug her, and their like actually related and shit.”
Bianca perked up hearing Yoko’s point. She had to admit it wasn't as insane as the last theory; this was something she could potentially invest her time in and watch the drama unfold. “I see the logic. There might actually be something of value here.”
“Great if B agrees, then everyone else agrees, right?” Yoko questioned as she looked at everyone else.
The group collectively looked at each other, wondering if they should agree, “I think it's a great theory if I'm honest…..better than the last one.” Eugene whispered the last part to Ajax in fear of crossing Yoko’s insanity line.
“Ok, here's my carefully detailed, orchestrated plan. First, we know Wednesday doesn't like people to invade her space, ….so? We are going to invade her space.”
“Yeah, hard pass. Last time my shoulder even brushed hers, she jammed a knife hilt into my ribs. I’m not risking round two.” Ajax cut off Yoko’s words, “Ok fine, be baby, in fact, you all be babies, I will do it.” Ajax and Eugene started to clap for Yoko, admiring her bravery that they both lack.
“Moving on….So I… will invade her space… wish me luck with that,” she quietly said, as the group wished her luck. She continued, “And after that, we will see her reaction….now you might be wondering….Yoko, you're probably wondering, you’re not gonna record Wednesday again, well, outcasts….I will!!” The others groaned at her words as they knew what that meant….One of them probably has to record the scene while trying not to be caught by Wednesday's radar and her keen senses. It was hard, but even the impossible can happen. I mean, just look at Wednesday and Enid.
"After we have successfully captured the footage, we will then…I'm sorry to Enid for this….But I will push her!” The gang looked at her with the same face they gave her blinking theory.
“Onto Wednesday, of course. Gosh, guy, judgmental much. I just meant like a friendly way, you know, like just push her towards Wednesday so they bump into each other…And yes again, I know…More footage, so…How about that? We compare the two videos.”
“Oh, brilliant. What’s the plan, huh? Storm in waving this footage like some dramatic exposé? Then proceed to shove it down Wednesday's and Enid’s throats and say something on the lines of ‘Golly, girls lookie what we have here, anything you have to say for yourselves?” Bianca was humored by Yoko’s consistent need to get things on tape.
“Wow, Bianca, negative much? And no, I was thinking more of a “Hey guys, I have a presentation for you to see.” As if things couldn't get worse, Yoko makes the impossible happen.
Bianca sat up and dusted herself up, “Don’t forget to add your name.” Bianca delivered it with a scoff as if telling Yoko she would not be a part of such mediocre plans, like a 5th-grade class project that was a half-baked scheme that had all the flair of a school presentation done with Google templates and Times New Roman font; it was lackluster and generic.
She was aiming for something more… something a bit like a reality-exposing TV show…Now that would be interesting, as she was about to leave, Yoko grabbed her, “Ok, wait…wait…relax. I’m pretty sure you want something more….up your standard ...I get and understand that, so what do you suggest?”
“You're asking me what I suggest?” She looked at Yoko with a smirk as she clasped her hands, “I'm glad you asked. I was thinking, why don't we add a love interest? I'm pretty sure many guys are swooning after Enid …and girls, especially after the Hyde. Or why not use an insider? I suggest Ajax.”
“Hey hey!! All love here, gang, but no thanks. Love my gal Enid, but heck no. Wednesday scares me, legit, she aimed a nail gun at my chest once. My heart still flinches. Nah fam, you're on your own.”
“Yoko is right, you are a baby.” Bianca told Ajax, “Baby at heart, man at body.” Ajax said as he tapped his chest with his fists, then pointed outwards. The rest reacted to his words and motions with weirded out looks.
“Anyways, point blank, get someone, then make the morbid girl jealous, then we see what happens"
"Ok, but this doesn't suit the title of the chapter. Maybe if this were a jealousy chapter, then sure." Yoko breaking the 4th wall, oh Yoko…
“Huh,” the group in a collective confused state said, but Yoko brushed them off with a “never mind,” followed by Bianca, “right…anyways. What do you want to do then?”
I think we are all losing the plot slightly after Biana’s comment, but Yoko pushed it right on track by saying,” I agree with your idea but also disagree,
“ Fine!No presentation. No video night, but what about psychological nudges and observing the cracks? A drama without spectacle. That's what you want, right??? A great A plan…Why don't we make Wednesday say it!” Yoko starts to climb up to stand on the bench to make a dramatic statement, “We make Wednesday surrender to human emotion.”
Eugene was taken aback but her movements and was stunned (get it heheh) at her words, “Yoko, I don't know if you met Wednesday or not, but she does not surrender to no one and nothing.”
“Genie, my bee boy, that's why I said ‘Psychological nudges.’ Get this, what happens if we make Enid spend less time and decrease her frequent physical touches…ok, that sounds weird to me, but just hear me out, I'll make a cry for help to Enid, say that I need comfort or whatever, because Divina babes is leaving me, than she will have to stay in my room for the time being. And we all know what happened when she did that last time??”
“Yeah, Wednesday was a bit more icy than usual, even to me, that time.” Eugene agreed
“Right Genie!! Anyways, this is where Ajax comes into play-”
“Yeah, no, hard pass. I know what you want me to do-”
“Boy sit your ass down, im not telling you to flirt with the damn girl-”
“Oh great, thank Heavens. I don't want to end up 6ft under, yk gang.”
“Yeah, yeah baby, I get it. You're going to preoccupy Enid whenever she's not with me, I'm talking about, she's going to listen to Wednesday play cello, stone her-”
“Yoko, this is Enid, not -”
“Fine, don't stone her, it was a bad idea anyway, make something up, like you need maths help or biology, I don't know, just entertain in the ways you usually can do.”
“I'm not some circus act bruhhh.”
“Ajax be fr right now…Out of all of us, you're the best act.”
“Awwww Yoko that's sweet, fine I'll entertain her for you”, Ajax said as he pumped his fists, then a heart sign to Yoko
“Yeah sure, that's what she meant.”Bianca rolled her eyes as she mumbled to Eugene
“Come on, Bee. Just let him have this moment.”
“Hmmm, I guess he is useful in a way.”
“That's the spirit.”
“No prob bro, but to continue, we are basically going to make Wednesday come to Enid, and tell the girl herself, and she will probs be like.” Yoko composed herself and tried to make herself as straight(not like that, guys still gay) as possible and clasped her hands, a gesture she had seen Wednesday do all the time as she talked. Yoko to speak in a monotone, trying to sound as dead as the girl, “Enid, it has been brought to my attention that the amount I've seen your horrid colorful character has significantly decreased. To a great displeasure, I have to say these vile words coming out of my mouth as we speak….I miss you.” Yoko couldn't hold she laughed, “I just can't imagine her saying that if I'm being for real right now.”
“Dawg, I think that's the best Wednesday impression I've heard,” laughed Ajax
Yok,o who went back to her impression, “Your compliment is lousy, but it is sufficient
“I've got to hand it to you, Yoko, that was good,” Bianca said as she chuckled out
“Hey, hey..look, I’m loving the whole vibe here, really…but, uh… isn’t this getting kinda manipulative? Like, morally-questionable level manipulative?”Eugene squeaked out.
“Oh, please. And she’s innocent? Let’s not forget she endangered that poor girl’s life. Don’t be so naive, Eugene. I'm sure if Wednesday finds this out, which she probably will later on, she will commend you for your manipulation tactic.” Bianca spat out.
This was just honestly be another day as an Addams, manipulation is game that Wednesday has played more than one time, Bianca knows the girl will probably admire the plan let alone be angry at it, infact she will probably just say, “I respect you for playing a game i usually win at” Or something on the lines.
“Hmmm, I guess you're right, I still will feel bad about this, tho,” Eugene hummed out. You can't blame the boy; he was like a marshmallow, sweet and soft and just like a marshmallow.
“Exactly, Eugene, plus I doubt Wednesday will go on a tirade on you, she literally sees you like her other brother.” Bianca comforted the boy.
A pair of eyes full of curiosity watched the group as they continued to talk about their plans. The eyes were focused as if they were reading their lips. A smirk appeared on their face as an idea sprouted in their mind, “How interesting.” The curious being said to themself as they watched, “Hey, what’s taking so long. Let’s go, we are going to be late.”
The mysterious person looked at them as they disappeared along with the other to their next class.
The end of day(brought to you by Laziness)
Enid was gallivanting the halls like a streak of pastel lightning, a grin tugging at her lips. She hummed away a tune while she went from corridor to corridor, her excitement was expressed by the glimmer in her eyes. She was headed to her favorite place not because of the books, but because her favorite person was buried among them. Though she kept that a secret yet it wasnt much of a secret to others.
In her usual corner of the library, Wednesday sat hunched over a thick volume on lycanthropy, eyes scanning each page with surgical focus. It wasn’t obsession, of course. It was research. Strictly academic….as so it appears but of course she will deny anything more in her eyes she did it purely because her roommate had finally shifted, finally unlocking the full wolf within. As her… best friend, Wednesday felt it only right to educate herself on the matter and not because she has some undeniable attraction.
It was logical. Practical. Tactical, even.
Yes! It was definitely not because her pulse did something strange when Enid smiled. Or because learning everything about werewolves might draw Enid closer might give her an advantage or reason to lean on her. To need her and as well as keep her, thats what Wednesday fears the most, the silence that came from Enid, she fears that she may lose the only one who was stupid and reckless enough to get involved with her, she fears that she may also lose the only one who was bold and fearless enough to enter her heart….I mean as a friend obviously.
At least, that’s what she’d tell herself.
Back to enid who will still ongoing in her journey, her time was cut short as out of no way she was pulled into a another inner hallway, “What the heck man.” She cried out
“Sorry Enid… My bad”
“Yoko, you couldve warned a girl you know.”
“Again sorry, But hey! I did try to call at you but i think you were in lala land.”
“I so wasnt in lala land you were lala land.”
“Enid we so arent doing this ridiculous banter, either way i have something urgent and like super duper important to tell you, that honestly could destroy myself and i dont know what to with myself, I think i might just tomorrow” Yoko said as dread filled her tone, as she silently thanked her grandma for forcing her to take up drama in Junior school, those lessons paid of at this was the moment to let them shine.
“Oh my gosh! What happened,I hope its nothing as major as i think it is, you have to tell me all the details!!!”
“So i was just walking you know me, right and all of a sudden i bumped into a girl.” At this point Yoko’s words were running as fas as lightning, if you didnt know her plan you would actually think she was being honest, “I didnt know the girl but apparently she knew but either ways, she was getting all you know, handsy with me after i apologised for bumping into her because obvi it was my fault so my bad right? Anyways Divina sees us…i think you know where im going with this, she rightly so….gets the wrong idea and that im cheating on her, tbh i would to because damn that girl was handsy and flirting like bruh im married leave me tf alone, and before you go on say Yoko hello why didnt you swat her way….I did!!! But Divina conveniently runs away from the moment.”
Enid stood there processing her words as she realized why Yoko’s life might be over, “So i did try to go to divina and you know clear the air like good girlfriend i am, but ahaaaaaaa she did not care a damn word i said and basically kicked me out of her sight.” Now yoko really amped the acting as she got on her knees and hugged Enid’s legs, “Please come and stay with me just until the whole situation is over i cant do this by myself En , I need emotional supoort until i successfully get back Divina.” ok this where she might have gone a bit over board as she took out some garlic essence not too much to make her die, but just enough to make her cry. As tears flowed, Enid’s heart ached she knew Yoko needed her, she also remember the time she lived with Yoko when she had a fight with Wednesday, she owes it to the girl.
“Yoko! Oh my gosh why are you on your knees pleading?! You’re my bestie, of course I’ve got your back, ill always be there for you. That’s what friends do, duh!!Just say the word and I’m there. No need to go on the floor , just let me talk to Wednesday and i will be over tonight. Easy-peasy!” Enid said as she carefully got Yoko off the ground and wiped her tears with the end of her sleeve.
‘Phase one complete’ Yoko thought as she saw Enid head towards the library.

Chapter Text
Enid made her way to the library, bouncing between hallways with her usual energy, until she reached the door. She paused. There was no trace of Wednesday’s scent in the air. Okay, yeah, weird to admit, but she’s a werewolf, it’s one of her abilities, why not put it to great use, you know? But still, the absence hit harder than expected.
She stood there, frowning. Wednesday was a meticulous girl with a routine. Same time, same place, like clockwork. Excluding the times she does stuff on impulse or for her investigations. Enid could practically set her schedule by her roommate's habits…uhh never mind that's a bit psycho friend (a/n soon to be psycho girlfriend🤣) vibes anyways it left Enid confused, she usually is here around this time. So… where was she?
Letting out a sigh, Enid turned on her heel and started heading back to her room. Maybe she should start packing her sleeping bag while she waits for her roomie to come back from God knows where. It stung a bit because she usually is accurate. Wednesday would've told her if she had found out about a crime scene or another adventure, I mean, they have gotten closer as friends, right? Even so, what’s the point of being best friends if you don’t even know where your bestie disappears without a word? Although I would disagree as I have no clue where my close friend is and she is like a sister, so?? I guess this is what they call an original experience.
Then again, Enid is a worrywart, especially since Wednesday is famous for pulling a disappearing act and cutting ties if needed. I guess the pair share a similar fear that the other would pull away and drift away in an endless sea. They aren't that obsessed with each other like how I paint them to be; they are just afraid of the recoils.
Enid was busy packing while her favorite pop playlist played in the background as she zipped around her room, looking, grabbing, then packing for the sleepover at Yoko’s. Her bag lay open like an emotional survival kit in progress: a stack of romance novel, ones that could either break or make you types, a fresh box of tissues, non-negotiable obviously, and a carefully curated lineup of Yoko’s favorite movies, from drama-filled to nostalgic comfort flicks. Basically, anything that might help lift her bestie's spirits.
Cheering people up was kind of her thing, and tonight, she was going all in. I mean, Yoko did go out of her way to make Enid comfortable and create a safe space for her, the last time she went to Yoko’s place. And now it was her turn.
What Wednesday didn’t expect was to open the door and see that sleeping bag, the same one from before, sprawled across Enid’s bed like it belonged there while Enid was packing it. Her expression tightened. She didn’t harbour hate for the object itself; it was fabric and zippers, harmless on its own. Who gives a damn for that. But what was the implication of the bag? That was different.
That bag represents Enid leaving her due to her... It meant laughter somewhere else, warmth that didn't include her…. It meant leaving her for Yoko and now, there Enid was, packing it again, dancing around the room to some sugary pop song, humming without a care in the world. This was different from what happened before; there was no shouting, no slamming doors. Just… joy. She was… happy? That's what it looks like, happy to leave Wednesday, happy to go off with Yoko, and for what? What did she do wrong this time? Was it something she said to her friends about Enid, but surely she would've talked to her? She did not like what this looked like, and she was going to find the root cause of this evil.
Wednesday’s jaw clenched. She smacked her teeth softly in annoyance, eyes narrowing at the thoughts in her mind. She wasn't an overthinker; she was an analyzer of facts, but for Enid… She would overthink the smallest of details.
“And here I thought we were on good terms.” Wednesday semi-questioned Enid, trying to find the answers to what she was looking for but still acting in her nonchalant ways.
“ Wow no, Hi Enid. Heyy Willaaaa, what a terrible day, how was yours? It was great thanks for asking and obvi we are on good terms, what gave you a different idea?”
Wednesday glanced in Enid's eyes, searching to see if she was hiding anything. Wednesday then gestured to the bag, “Based on past events, I assume you are on your way to Yoko’s,” ignoring Enid’s words.
“Uhh, I think you're getting the wrong idea…” Enid put a pause to her packing as she walked up to Wednesday and, with cautious movements as if Wednesday was fragile, grabbed her hands with hers, interlacing them as if feeling Wednesday’s emotions. As she continued, “Hey, listen, I know where your head is going but this time it's got nothing to do with you, it’s not some random crisis this time, okay? Yoko’s seriously spiraling, like an actual verge of a mental breakdown. Turns out, long story short, Divina thinks she cheated, hence broke up with her, and now she’s iced her out completely. Not cool, but I kinda get it. It's like that time I thought Ajax stood me up and went full soap opera in my head. Anyway, whatever is going on that little head of yours is sooo not happening, trust me. I was going to tell you in advance, Swear! But I couldn't find you at the library. And you didn't tell me you had plans today.”
Wednesday took her time listening to each of Enid’s words, she was right not to go all melodrama, oh the things that Enid makes her do, but she was glad she didn't make a fool out of herself yet Enid had managed to recognize the underlying meaning of what she said, I guess that's what brought Enid close to her, she was one of the few that read Wednesday like an open book. “I see, I must apologise, then I was a bit hasty in thinking the most. A weak moment, I promise not to happen again.”
“Uhh, I actually like that… it shoooows you caaaare for me, don’t ya!” Enid smiled widely at Wednesday.
“Don't be ridiculous, Enid, I merely do not want this to affect my writing.”
“So you're saying I affect your writing, huh?” Her eyebrow quirked up as a smirk appeared on her face.
“Your lack of presence will drive Thing crazy without his… mani-pedis or whatever you two do.”
“Uh huh, I'm just gonna accept this as a win that you like me.” With full drive of confidence, Enid told Wednesday.
“Certo, non è che sia una bugia” (Sure, it's not like it's a lie)Wednesday replied with a smirk, leaving Enid speechless, “Heeeey, that's not fair, I'm still on stage 2 of Duo.” Enid cried out, realizing she only knew one word of ‘non’, so her translation is basically useless.
“All is fair in war.” Wednesday held back the word love in fear that her feelings would be revealed, but Enid was no stranger to quotes: “You forgot the love part.” Enid said feeling smug that she knows more than Wednesday, “Did I now, I must have forgotten, Da quando mi hai portato via tutto l'amore(Since you took all my love away), Wednesday laughed at that thought of Enid’s muddled face, “Ugh fine, you know what one day you will catch me and green owl and we will understand everything..There will be no hiding!! You won't see it coming.”
Wednesday bit her smile back and looked at Enid straight in the eyes with a challenge, “Go ahead, I'm waiting to see that day come.” Truthfully, Wednesday wasn't telling any lies, in heart, she knows she would be down on her knees to hear Enid speak her mother tongue, it will be both a blessing and a curse. A torture she does not know if she is prepared for.
“Shall I help you pack?” Enid looked at Wednesday, then at her colorful clothes and other bits and bobs, then back to Wednesday, “Are you sure because it’s like totally fine. I know how much you hate these colors.”
“Enid, when I say I will do something, it means I have already taken into consideration every repercussion I will face. I did not offer out of shallow social etiquette, now, then I will ask once more, shall I help you pack
Enid knew what Wednesday meant but the funny thing is she felt a warm feeling in her chest she couldn't explain, she didn't know whether it was because she was her best friend who had shut everyone else except her or something more. Enid shook her head at that thought as she answered, “Yes. I would love your help Wednesday.” Wednesday was pleased that Enid accepted, whether she liked to admit it or not, she liked being the reason why Enid smiled.
Enid knew if this were anyone else, Wednesday will probably tell them, “Do it yourself, you have arms and legs dont you?”, Enid was happy that she was the only one Wednesday helps, she liked feeling special since her parents treat her the opposite, but oh well beggars cant be choosers. While Enid was enjoying them moment, Wednesday was plotting while packing Enid’s clothes, Plotting Yoko’s demise, the quicker she gets back with Divina, the quicker Enid is back.
“Is that all?”
“Yeah, thanks, roomie, much appreciated, wish me luck!!”, with that Enid side-hugged Wednesday and walked out the room, Wednesday did back away from hesitation but in the end who was she to deny the curse, she already let it fester to this point, “Mhm, I wish you luck, and I hope Yoko is prepared,” Wednesday mumbled the last part to herself while Enid left.
In Yoko’s room
“Yes, plan success,” Yoko thought as she heard the knock at her door. She prepared her garlic spray just in case and got into character. She made herself look teary but not too dramatic. She opened the door with agony, “Oh Enid, whatever do I do!?, Divina doesn't even want to look at me.” “Come now, Yoko, don't fret, I'm here now, start from the beginning and don't leave any details out.” Enid said as she came through the door, dumping her bags near the door frame and wiping Yoko’s tears, “So-....”
Back in Wednesday’s room
“Thing, come here.” Thing scurried to her, signing, “What is it I need, my beauty rest?”
“Your a hand, the least of your worries is beauty. Besides that, I need you to sneak into Divina’s room and see what she is up to. I have a feeling Yoko and Divina didn't have a dispute.”
Thing shook his finger, “I can't go to a girls' room, that's an invasion of privacy.”
“And you sneaking into my room to watch over me was not an invasion of privacy.” Restored Wednesday as her eyebrow shot up, questioning Thing
“Fine, but if I'm caught, I will blame it on you.”
“Then you better not get caught. Or else, now go!”
In the quiet room, Thing had slipped away, leaving Wednesday alone with her thoughts. She hadn’t expected Divina to be the one to walk away, emotionally charged wasn’t her reputation. She knew the girl well but in her eyes love can make you do things that you're not used to, I mean just look at her, a fool because of love.
Wednesday could sense Yoko was pulling something from her sleeve but what exactly? And more importantly, why? Why the need for all this theatrics.
She remembered seeing them just days ago, joined at the hip, laughter exchanged like secrets and now all of a sudden they are done for, she would expect at least a confrontation from Divina’s end, she doesnt seem the type to take things like betrayal, lightly. It made no logical sense unless something else had been brewing beneath the surface. Something or someone like Yoko. It is a possibility she could be wrong, she has been wrong numerous times during the Hyde incident but this time this didnt come from her head but her gut, there was a difference, there wasnt any facts just astute observations.
Who knows maybe Yoko’s claims were valid. Maybe Divina was just that heartbroken, too sullen to even confront Yoko. Yet that didnt calm Wednesday”s nerves, she knew deception when she saw it, and Yoko’s eyes always held a gleam when she was scheming. She didnt see the girl talk to Enid about it but she did see the girl unfazed during the day, Whatever this was, it reeked of a scam disguised as heartbreak.
Wednesday’s fingers curled over the armrest, thoughts sharpening into blades. That girl was up to something.
And she was determined to get to the bottom of this. She hates when people disrupt her routine for no good reason.
After letting all her thoughts drown her thing came back in a quick jiffy, fleeing from Divina’s room.
“Did she see you” Wednesday started straight of the bat.
“No, she didnt.” Thing signed back tiredly.
“Good, I expect nothing less, any findings?”
“She doesnt seem to act like a girl who was just cheated on.”
“Elaborate further”
“Honestly? Instead of crying, she’s watching some loud comedy flick and color-coding her closet like heartbreak was not just a moment ago. Not a single tear, just neon socks and obnoxious laughter.”
“Hmm, my assumptions were correct than, You did good, you may retire.”
“Thanks, I need my beauty rest.”
Her instincts were rarely wrong. Well, barring a few unfortunate miscalculations she chose not to acknowledge. You cant blame her she is as stubborn as a mule. But now this felt different. Her trust issues, were flaring again. And Yoko, scheming or not, had become the latest target of suspicion.
Wednesday began drafting a list in her mind, possibilities, motives, angles. Why would Yoko lie? If she did lie, of course. But nothing fit.
A distraction? For what? No birthday, no funeral.
An excuse to talk to Enid without raising suspicion? Yoko and Enid were two peas in a pod, she didnt need an elaborate excuse to talk to the girl.
Still, something about Yoko was off this week. Subtle shifts. Lingering glances. That covert recording,Wednesday which didnt go unnoticed. A possible clue or a red herring? The more she dissected it, the deeper she sank into a maze of layered questions. And every answer spawned more uncertainty. It was a never ending puzzle, she knew she was bad at understanding why people do what they do but she didn't realize she was this bad.
She hated this. The ambiguity. The emotional murk. She was trained to navigate logic, not the slipperiness of human behavior. But this felt like failure, and Wednesday Addams did not fail, she will make it her task for the month to find out, in her mind she would probably go for a crime scene but a vindictive scheme, sure why not.
It could be a plan to drift her and Enid apart? But that's absurd they are roommates, unless one of them goes and requests a room assignment, even if this were the case which is improbable, she wouldn't allow it plus Wednesday had a flicker of something dangerously close to a belief that Enid would never distance herself from her, smug as Wednesday might be, she was right, Enid was glued to her forever like a taxidermized creature. Even if the entire school conspired against them, like the outcast she was, Enid wouldn’t leave her behind. She was far too loyal, too stubborn. It was a truth Wednesday would never say aloud but bury beneath the suspicion and silence.
She had faith in the girl.
All in due time Wednesday will catch Yoko if her theory is right, but for now she has to collect physical evidence against her.
Right now her slumber was calling, she will just have to wait another day.
