Chapter Text

(Start Prologue Hidden Location)

A camera was active as a matured woman in a military uniform sat in front of it tired and worn as she sat there. 14 years it’s been 14 years since THEY were seen. 20 years since they had gained their power. 10 years since THEY had been exploited. 14 years since they were freed and 14 years since they unleashed their fury upon the world.

Sitting in a chair the woman knew she had to commit this to memory so people would know the truth. No amount of coverups and lies could wipe away the stain and she knew this as a fact. “Hello, my name is Misato Katsuragi, and this is my report… no this is my logs on the entities known as Tenno.” Misato said as she sat there facing the camera. “What I’m about to say is shocking at best horrifying at worst but I can’t deny we didn’t have it coming as a species.” Misato said and in turn she got down to it.

Misato Katsuragi

“It all began at the turning of the millennium 2000 an incident occurred known as Second Impact.” Misato said making it clear what had happened years ago. “The incident had occurred when the Angel known as Adam had been awoken and put down.” Misato explained making it clear what had happened. “I… was at ground zero and even now I find it all hard to believe.” Misato said going to the next part. “The following 2 years resulted in the post Impact Wars resources were scarce, the cataclysm had dyed our oceans red destroying all sea life on the planet that were not held in enclosures.” Misato said while sitting there.

“At the end of the Impact Wars GEHIRN was founded and they began work on something called Project E.” Misato said explaining this to whomever was listening. “The point of this project was to create the ultimate fighting machine against the same entity that caused Second Impact, the Angels.” Misato said getting to the heavy stuff. “The creation was known as Evangelion, but it had been decommissioned due to an unforeseen incident.” Misato said as she got to it recalling those days. “We had four units operational and ready for deployment when this incident had taken place… I still had trouble believing it.” Misato said getting to the next bit.

“Facility 10-0 had played host for research on what amounted to a giant finger that gave off more energy than possible.” Misato said moving to the incident in question. “For some reason maybe an illegal order or perhaps manipulations of a group of people all the candidates for Project E had been gathered at Facility 10-0 and entire generation of children with their parents or legal guardians.” Misato said as she steadied her breathing showing that this topic was traumatic. “I was never one for science but the odds of something like that happening were a million to one.” Misato said as she knew something had occurred with clear malicious intent. “The facility had suffered a catastrophic incident and then… vanished with only a crater left of its existence.” Misato said before she displayed some of the images for the feed.

“An entire generation of children gone in a flash and with no viable pilots save for one Project E was immediately decommissioned, funding cut, and the facilities for it shut down.” Misato said recalling how she almost lost her job. “GEHIRN or NERV as it was later called was still needed to combat the angels but then we received a new weapon… a synthetic weapon called Warframe.” Misato said explaining what had been found.

“The Warframes were powerful unstoppable even but impossible to control through traditional methods.” Misato said and then got to the worst part. “2 years later after the incident we had several units of Warframes ready for deployment but no means to control them when Facility 10-0 had reappeared on our scopes blaring a distress call.” Misato said and got to the worst of it. “I was in charge of the rescue operation go in, find survivors, and get out… but what I found was not what I expected.” Misato said to which the worst had come to past. “Out of the entire facility not a single adult was alive only the children were found traumatized beyond recognition an entire generation returned a miracle of god some would say.” Misato said but then laughed bitterly.

“That miracle would turn out to be a curse years later.” Misato said getting to her role in this. “All of those children orphaned in one way or form all gave more or less the same reports of what happened. At the time I would have chalked it up as mad ravings of traumatized children in need of psychiatric care and at first, I thought they got it.” Misato said but got to the next bit. “But something wasn’t right when I attempted to check in on those children out of a hunch it was like they never existed all data on them gone as if someone didn’t want them found.” Misato said which got to the worst bit.

“I didn’t have a lot of time to investigate because as predicted the Angels showed up and without our Plan A it seemed like we were doomed.” Misato said but moved on to the next bit. “That was when the Warframes were deployed only now… we could control them and at the time I thought we’ve just created the newest and most powerful set of military hardware on the planet.” Misato said recalling what the Warframes managed to do. “In my own investigation of the missing children of the Facility 10-0 incident I had managed to conclude that the facility, the Warframes, and the missing children were all connected somehow, I just could not find the link at least at first.” Misato said moving to what she had discovered.

“I found the children with help from certain members of NERV and to our horror they were hidden right under our own noses.” Misato said recalling what she found. “Locked into these pods lucidly dreaming they were the operators the pilots for the Warframes the electrical shocks… the torture those children were forced to be our weapons.” Misato said sick with herself for her role in this.

“We resolved to release the children after gathering all the data we could to be presented for a forced military intervention… that never came to pass.” Misato said recalling that day. “With no other resource we had to act on our own, using every connection we can acquire we broke the chains on the children and their warframes all over the planet the Warframes became active years of abuse and exploitation turned into rage and fury.” Misato said detailing what had happened.

“The Tenno were what we called them now rebelling against NERV I myself had united others and rebelled against NERV when their true colors were exposed.” Misato said recalling those days. “With the aid of the Tenno we managed to deal a scaring blow, but I underestimated the rage the Tenno had for their suffering.” Misato said and which she got to it. “Using the full fury of their power the Tenno triggered an Impact all of their own NERV Japan became a crater of silver and void and even then, the Tenno did not stop.” Misato said recalling how they kept killing.

“We managed to gather the children and transport them somewhere safe where they can finally rest… the moon.” Misato said recalling that transport mission. As the children went to sleep for what we hoped was the final time… the Warframes kept fighting crippling NERV and destroying the shadow power of our world SEELE.” Misato said and came to her final conclusion. “Eventually the fighting stopped the Warframes across the planet deactivated as the Tenno finally knew true sleep.” Misato said which got to why she was making this video.

“It has been 14 years since that day since the Tenno had been seen last.” Misato said as she got to it. “I became the founder and the leader of the Anti-NERV and Anti-SEELE organization WILLE combating both groups to stop their plans for the true Impact.” Misato said before letting out a defeated sigh. “But we’ve underestimated what both SEELE and NERV can do… so this is why we are given only one more choice… we must re-awaken the Tenno.” Misato said which would have surprised many. “The Tenno our now our only hope to survive as a species… my only hope however is that they can find it in them to forgive our past transgressions.” Misato said before moving to end the video.

“It’s time to wake them up.” Misato said before ending the video.

(Start WILLE Location unknown)

On Earth enemies of mankind opens a Cryopod, seeking the Tenno within.

Elsewhere, thee young hearts begins beating once more.

The Ascaris is placed, but the warriors within fled with the help of the will.

Blood rushes through veins, repairing the damage done by years of neglect.

The Tenno regains his strength, removes the mind worm, and faces the one who released him.

Eyes move beneath long-closed lids.

The remnants of a long-forgotten foe are unearthed, and the Tenno is called to face this threat.

Lungs start to breathe, air whistling between a pair of dry, cold lips.

The Tenno is stalked from the Shadows, as he seeks to save his kin.

Brows furrow, as his sleep grows uneasy.

The Reservoir is revealed, as the Tenno plays into the ancient foe's hand.

The Transference Pod opens, and light hits the sleeping body for the first time in millennia.

One last rush, a desperate bid to save his brethren.

Cold, metal hands gently lift the body from the soft, comfortable pod.

The Tenno finds his heart and removes it from its shell.

The slumber breaks, and the lifting arms go limp.

"Dream... not of what you are, but of what you want to be."

The Tenno, or is it Operator, drag themselves from the ruins of a broken moon, in hope of returning to their Dream in a safer place.

The Shadow steps out from the darkness; War is in his hands, and his mind.

The Warframe is sundered, a mere metal puppet with its strings cut.

The Stalker stands over the Operator - A darkened heart rebels, even as its blade thirsts for true Tenno blood.

The moment of hesitation is enough, for the puppet cut loose still dances to a tune.

War broken; the Shadow flees.

The children of the Void have awoken once more.

(Scene Break Transference Chamber)

Shinji Ikari awoken in a room he had become accustomed to from years past. But this place instead of causing pain seemed oddly comforting to him. Looking around he saw other pods had been set up in this facility. Memories fragmented body limp from years of disuse. Seeing his reflection Shinji saw what looked to be scarring around his eyes that were cause for concern from him.

He then saw a familiar face amongst them, yet she was older now but still comforting. “M-Misato.” Shinji struggled to say as Misato smiled there.

“Shinji thank goodness.” Misato sighed as she was happy to see Shinji while the others began to awaken as well. “How do you feel?” She asked gently but with concern.

"I'm confused... I thought I was..." He trailed off, bewildered as to what was happening.

“Speak for yourself.” Came another voice from another pod. Looking to it they saw a red-haired girl with a metal guard over her right eye that covered her scars that were similar to Shinji’s scars.

“What has happened?” Came a voice of a blue haired girl with red eyes as she leaned forward. Her cheeks showed scars that came up from bellow her head. “Were we not to continue sleeping?” She asked memories returning to her if only in fragments.

Misato nodded sadly knowing she broke her promise to the Tenno to let them sleep. "I know. Forgive me, Shinji.” Misato said feeling guilt for going back on her word. “This is who you really are. A Tenno. More than human... but once a child like any other. What do you remember?" She asked hoping to help them piece things together.

“I remember a soft lines of a hand… I think… it was my mothers.” Shinji said as he sat there in the Somatic Link. “What happened… where am I? Where are we?” The boy asked as Misato gave the boy a of compassion.

“This is WILLE you’ve been asleep for over 14 years.” Misato said to the young boy, as he saw there were several people running around the Somatic Links maintaining and handling them.

“Fourteen years?” Shinji asked as he tried to make sense of what he was seeing and where he was.

“Shinji there is a lot to explain and even to unload but right now we’re at war… but you already know that.” Misato said as it came back to Shinji.

“Yeah…” Shinji said as he began to recall it all. WILLE was at war with NERV the Tenno had been reawakened to fight NERV when NERV had started gathering the Warframes. But without the Tenno to operate them the Warframes were useless to NERV. “But the Angels… what about.” Shinji began but his head hurt he couldn’t think straight here.

“Just rest.” Misato said making it clear that Shinji needed to rest for now. “We still need to wake up the others.” Misato said and thus Shinji understood the intent.

“Alright.” Shinji said still trusting Misato after all this time. Leaning back Shinji relaxed as WILLE agents walked in to make sure that Shinji was healthy after being asleep for over fourteen years. Once he was properly rested the war against NERV would truly begin.

(Later with Misato and Ritsuko)

Misato entered the room and found Ritsuko sitting on one of the consoles typing away on it. “Is the memory blocks on them set?” Misato asked her voice deep with concern, but her tone was also neutral on the request.

anti toxi — Lemme try and do a headcanon. If possible, I'd...

“Yeah, these mental blocks should keep their powers limited.” Ritsuko said as the faux blond looked over to Misato with a calm look on her face.

“Good.” Misato said as she looked to the one way window that showed the WILLE operatives looking over the Tenno emerging from their Somatic Links. “Fourteen years since then fourteen years since they were promised to never fight again.” Misato said recalling what happened fourteen years ago when the fury of the Tenno was unleashed on the world.

“NERV gave us no other option we needed the most powerful weapon on the planet and the Tenno were such.” Ritsuko said as she recalled that day how everything that went wrong seemed to revolve around the Tenno in some way. “The memory blocks will spare them the truth for now.” Ritsuko said as Misato had made it clear the Tenno could not be allowed to recall what happened fourteen years ago, the day they had been freed of NERV’s chains.

“I hope your right.” Misato said adjusting her hat a bit. “I’m worried that the memory block won’t hold like trying to put a band-aid on a stab wound.” Misato said fearful of what these kids will do once the truth comes out. Its not a matter of if, only when.

“I agree its best we just let it come and break it down to them gently.” Ritsuko said not wanting the Tenno to turn their fury on WILLE next. If WILLE falls humanity will fall with them and the Tenno would truly be alone. Ritsuko had an ongoing theory that the Tenno would not be affected by the changes Impact would make but that was all it was a theory. There was no safe way to test it, so it was best to keep it shelved for now.

“Has Sakura been informed of her new duties?” Misato asked as she looked to Ritsuko.

“Yes, she will retain her role as the medical officer of the base, but she will also be overseeing the welfare of the Tenno between mission.” Ritsuko said as she closed her computer and turned to face Misato. “She has already been informed of their unique upkeep.” Ritsuko said as Misato nodded to this.

“I hate doing this using these kids again but like you said NERV forced our hands.” Misato said as they needed the Tenno’s power to fight. “Hopefully, they’ll understand and when this war is over, they’ll never have to fight again.” Misato said unaware of the full levels of what NERV is willing to do to attain their goals to finally trigger their own Fourth Impact.

(Scene Break with Kaworu NERV)

Kaworu Nagisa stared up at the sky with the moon held high. His old home taken from him by WILLE to house and protect the Tenno. He smiled at the scene for a bit as he saw the fortress hidden in the sky.

“Shinji… you are awake…” Kaworu said with a wayward smile on his face. “I can finally keep my promise to create a world for you to be happy in.” Kaworu said as he saw the chance to do what he had promised to do for Shinji so many lifetimes ago. The war had now begun the War Within and the War Without.
