Marinette's POV from the events of Part One: The Emotional Turmoil of Damian Wayne.
(this can be read as a stand alone, but I recommend reading Part One first)
Following the Miraculous War in Paris, Marinette is forced start over in Gotham, the most chaotically imbued city in the world, due to a build up of creation magic from the years she's spent as Ladybug. She's had to give up everything and everyone she loved just to keep the world around her balanced, and with Batman's help, has finally begun to find her footing in this new life.
But that isn't to say the change has been easy. After six years in Gotham, it gets even worse when she ends up falling for the one person she shouldn't have.
Who said Ladybug is supposed to have good luck?

read, long, sweet, comfort, rip her social life in paris—that part’s actually rlly sad ngl. i completely get why her friends were confused but the situation still sucks. i think i’m lowkey very much growing to dislike fics where adrien gets his memory erased in the end like “you n me against the world” “always” my goatsied gaping hole n crack , mfs rlly run they mouth w promises only to take the easy way out; truly nothing is sacred 😭☠️ as for alya,,,,,,, girl,,,, lila rlly did a number on y’all huh 🤦 yeah the flakiness n stuff from heroing didn’t help but she rlly fixated on giving marinette no grace when it comes to her moving away instead of being there for adrien. she thinks she’s standing up for what’s right in the situation n thinks she has the full picture to make assumptions off of n refuses to acknowledge nor accept the idea she’s missing information if it’s withheld from her out of a sense of entitlement n self righteousness. i’m assuming the hawkmoth defeat released around the same time as the gabriel news n personally from an outside perspective i think it’d appear valid that mari uproot her life to start somewhere fresh after being there for her family the past years n supporting everyone in her civilian life during the war. lots of people move to find themselves after situations like that and she isn’t responsible for adrien’s recovery; everyone’s fighting their own battles and her friends potentially viewing her as selfish for being burnt out and not giving all she is when not having anything left to give is indubitably fucked up n a lingering effect of the chokehold influence lila had over the class perception of marinette. there’s a niggling feeling coming from alya in particular that feels a touch opportunistic in her disbelief and rejection of marinette not being there for adrien during a rough time in his life; it feels reminiscent of the plots she’d push marinette into when trying to get her closer to adrien as if comforting him is a convenient tactic to make them closer. again , it’s understandable that the sudden (or at least i’m assuming sudden) switch when distancing from adrien in his crisis would be jarring and seem out of character for her but the news of hawkmoth’s defeat is gonna hit everyone differently n feeling unequipped when it comes to adrien’s loss is a valid response to everything happening all at once , even from the perspective of an outsider viewing her as an average civilian. not to mention she put her life on hold to stay during the war when given the option of being audrey’s intern in order to stay with her loved ones during the war should anyone perish. it’s just unfair n sad that they wanted her to put her life on hold instead of being empathetic that everyone is going through their own shit n if she isn’t emotionally equipped to be there for him the way he deserves , then she shouldn’t be expected to n honestly is being considerate in finally putting herself first cuz that pressure caline instilled in her to be the example seems to have influenced the class as well; sooner or later that pressure would crumble n combust , n THAT’S on period.
