What if Junhee never swapped teams with Myunggi?

Summary:

What if Junhee decided to stay a seeker and never swapped teams with Myunggi? This is just basically just how I hoped hide and seek would go down! Also I’ve hardly ever seen any Junhee and Namgyu fics so I decided to write this

Chapter 1: Teams

Notes:

Y’all this is my first fic so please don’t judge me! I tried my best

Chapter Text

Everyone was waiting to go up to something that looked like a gumball machine to determine their teams for the next game. It was Junhee’s turn. She turned the bit on the machine that makes a ball come out (I have no idea what it’s called sorry 😭) and a ball came out. Red. She went over to the rest of the red team and spotted Gihun. She made her way over to where he was standing.
“What do you think this game is?” She asked a bit nervously.
“I’m not sure” He responded, slightly nervous as well.
She thought for a moment what it could be. The only indication she really had was there were two teams but there were a lot of two team games. A lot of sports are two team games, like basketball and dodgeball. On the other hand, there were more games like capture the flag etc. She thought about hide and seek but then realised there was usually only one seeker so that couldn’t be it.

After everyone got their teams, the game was revealed.
“The game you will be playing is hide and seek” a square guard announced.
“So I was right with hide and seek” Junhee thought.
“Red team, you will be trying to find the blue team. You have to kill at least 1 member of the blue team to pass”
Junhee froze. She couldn’t kill someone, she was pregnant!
The square guard continued. “Blue team, you must either hide or escape. There is an escape door located somewhere around the arena” “We have gifts for both teams”
The guards all went around handing things out. Junhee was given a box. She opened and saw a knife. Her eyes widened. She then looked over to the blue team and noticed they were given different shaped keys. The shapes were square, triangle and circle. She wondered why person who runs the games had such an obsession with those shapes. They were on the card she received to join the games and the guards masks. She realised that the keys must be for the escape door and the hiding spots.

After everything was handed out, Myunggi walked over to her. He was on the blue team.
“What do you want?” Junhee asked annoyed.
“To swap teams” Myunggi said with a hint of desperation in his voice.
“And why would I do that?” Junhee said narrowing her eyes at him.
“Because you’re not a murderer, you’re not going to kill anyone” Myunggi said as his eyes softened slightly
“You don’t know anything about me” Junhee rolled her eyes and walked away.
Myunggi grabbed her hand. She let go of his hand turned back to him.
“But Junhee, what about the baby?” he asked her.
“None of your business anymore because I’m the one giving birth and my baby nor me is going to have anything to with a piece of shit like you!” She yelled angrily and walked off.

As she was walking, she noticed Gihun glaring at Daeho. This had been going on for a while now and she still didn’t know why. Daeho looked visibly uncomfortable. She had no clue what happened. She decided to take the risk and walk over but Gihun grabbed her arm.
“Don’t” he warned her.
“Why? I have no clue what happened between you two but Daeho’s my friend as well” she argued.
“You don’t need to know what happened, it’s just not a good idea to talk to him.” Gihun replied
“Fine“ Junhee sighed.
She looked over at Daeho and he looked upset. She figured she would try to talk to him later without Gihun around.

As she was walking around wondering what to do and who to team up with because Gihun seemed like he was probably going to kill Daeho, player 124 stepped in front of her. “Isn’t he on drugs or something, what could he want?” She wondered.
“Hey, want to team up?”
She was surprised. Why did this guy she had never met want to team up with her? Was it even a good idea?
“I don’t even think I’ll be able to kill someone, yet alone team up with a guy on drugs” Junhee replied.
“I have an idea on what to do” he said. “You don’t like MG coin right?”
“No he’s my ex. What exactly are you getting at?” Junhee asked.
“Well because he killed my best friend, he scammed a lot of people and ghosted you, he could be a good person to take out, what I’m thinking is that I make it so that he’s nearly dead and then you get the final blow. How does that sound?” He offered like it was the most normal thing in the world.

“I may not like him but I’m not willing to kill someone, it just goes against all of my values” she argued.
“Just think about it, I’ll come find you when the game starts” he said walking away.
She started thinking. Maybe it wasn’t the worst idea in the world. She hated Myunggi with everything in her but she had never wanted to kill him. But maybe 124 wasn’t wrong. He had upset her and a lot of other people and he never did anything to prove that he was actually sorry. But still, killing was wrong as well and she would just be stooping to his level.
“God why can’t I figure out what to do!” Junhee shouted annoyed.
She kept thinking, she didn’t want to kill anyone, but at the same time she would die if she didn’t kill anyone and that would mean her baby would die too. And Myunggi didn’t seem like a bad person to go for. She didn’t want him to try and get involved with her baby and 124 said that he would do most of the work and she would just have to get the final blow. So after a long time of thinking, Junhee decided that when 124 would find her during the game, she would do it.

So the game begun. As the hiders had some time to hide, player 124 walked over to her.
“So what do you think?” 124 asked.
“Let’s do it” Junhee replied confidently.

Chapter 2: Hide and seek

Summary:

Hide and seek starts and Junhee and Namgyu get to know each other a little more

Lowkey I’m struggling with ideas so just bare with me

Notes:

Disclaimer: People die in this, there’s a lot of violence and someone gives birth so if you don’t like that stuff don’t read this chapter

Y’all the deaths aren’t in order, I just put them based on which one I remembered first.

Also I might do a bit of Daeho’s POV in the next chapter but I’m not sure yet

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Junhee knew this wasn’t a great idea. I mean, the guy she was teaming up with was a drug addict and she was about to kill someone! But she knew if she didn’t kill anyone, that her and her baby would die instead. While they were walking around, looking for Myunggi, she decided to start a conversation to take her mind off of things. She tapped 124 on the shoulder.
“What’s your name?” she asked him.
“Namgyu” he responded.
“I’m Junhee” she said back.
“I know” Namgyu replied which caught Junhee off guard.
Junhee had no clue how he knew her name but she knew it wasn’t the focus right now, it was finding Myunggi.
“Any idea where Myunggi could be?” Junhee asked but she was interrupted by a voice in the background.
“Player 044, eliminated, player 125, pass!”
“How the fuck did Minsu kill someone?” Namgyu said to himself.
They both kept walking.

“You should probably find someone to kill as well” Junhee said looking up at Namgyu.
“Yeah you’re right” he responded.
And then, Namgyu noticed player 100 in a blue vest look at him and Junhee in fear. Namgyu took something out of his cross necklace and swallowed it. He went over to player 100 while Junhee stayed where she was and watched. Namgyu, smiling for some reason, stabbed him multiple times and started laughing. There was blood everywhere and Junhee could see the life drain from player 100’s eyes. “I did not know Namgyu was such a psycho” Junhee thought shaking her head.
“Player 100 eliminated, player 124, pass!”
“Great, now we can focus on finding Myunggi!” Namgyu said smiling like what had just happened was totally normal.
Junhee stood there looking confused and shocked at the same time.
“What’s wrong?” Namgyu asked looking equally as confused now.
“You just killed someone while smiling and laughing, now you’re acting like it’s completely normal, it’s because of whatever’s in that necklace isn’t it!?” she shouted back.
“I’ll explain later, we just need to focus on finding Myunggi” Namgyu replied calmly.

Junhee sighed. “Fine”.
They kept walking and that’s when they saw something. Myunggi scrambling to get into a door. He noticed Junhee and stopped.
“Junhee!” he yelled surprised.
He then saw Namgyu next to her.
“Why are you with him?” Myunggi asked with a hint of venom in his voice.
“We’re working together” Namgyu replied smirking slightly. He walked closer to Myunggi. He started backing into the wall but Namgyu grabbed his arm and stabbed him in the shoulder. Myunggi screamed as his blood coated his arm and dripped on the ground. Namgyu stepped to the side as Junhee walked up to him, still screaming. She lifted up her knife.
“Junhee, what are you doing!?” Myunggi asked fearfully as his eyes widened.
She turned her head away and then, she did it. She stabbed him right in the chest.
“Player 333 eliminated, player 222, pass!”
She felt tears stinging her eyes but she quickly wiped them away and turned around to face Namgyu.
“That’s it I guess, we’re both safe.” Junhee said in a monotone voice.
Then, Junhee suddenly felt a sharp pain in her stomach and fell to the ground. Namgyu looked down and saw her water break.

“Oh my god why now!?” Junhee screamed.
“Are you like, giving birth or something?” Namgyu asked.
“YES YOU IDIOT!” she yelled back.
Namgyu panicked. He had no idea what to do, he knew Junhee wasn’t going to manage this by herself. “I wish I had google right now” he thought. He tried to figure out how to handle this but he remembered a bit of the basic process of birth because of school. He hated that class. He grabbed Junhee’s hand and she squeezed it tightly. “So you have to like push it out right?” Namgyu asked still worrying. “Obviously, did you not go to school or something!?” Junhee yelled slightly strained from pushing. Namgyu looked down and saw a head. Junhee started screaming. “Ok there’s a head!” he said to try and comfort her as much as he could. After a lot of screaming, the baby came out. He held it up and gave it to Junhee. “Oh my god” she sighed breathing heavily. “I think she’s a girl.” Namgyu said smiling. “That’s the most tiring thing I’ve ever done in my life but it was worth it” Junhee said beaming. They heard some more announcements of who got eliminated but they weren’t focusing on that. They were focusing on the baby that had just been born in essentially a death game. But Junhee brought life to it. And Namgyu knew he was going to be there for her and the baby no matter what. Namgyu was cut out of his thoughts when he heard someone shout. “Junhee!? When did you give birth!?” It was Hyunju. “Just now” Junhee replied. Hyunju crouched down next to them. Namgyu noticed she was a hider and started to lift his knife up. But be for he could do anything, Junhee glared at him. He put the knife down. “Do you know if it’s a boy or a girl?” Hyunju asked. Junhee smiled even more. “She’s a girl” she responded. Then, someone else came rushing over. Geumja. “She’s so cute!” Geumja said smiling. “She’s got your eyes, luck she doesn’t look like her father” Namgyu said. “Yeah, I’m glad she doesn’t look like him” Junhee said. She looked up at Namgyu. “Thank you so much Namgyu” she said gratefully. “Don’t mention it” he responded smiling at her.

“Well you two should go back to where you were hiding before a seeker finds you” Junhee says looking at Hyunju and Geumja.
“You’re right, we’ll see you after the game ends” Hyunju agrees.
As her and Geumja hurry off to make sure they don’t get found, Namgyu helps Junhee up.
“That was… a bit intense” Namgyu sighs.
“More than a bit” Junhee replies as she struggles to keep her balance.
Namgyu puts an arm around Junhee’s back to help her stay balanced. “Take it easy, it’s going to be harder to move around now”
“I know” she replied, still struggling slightly.
“Game over!” the voice in the background announced.
“Thank god” Junhee said relieved.

Chapter Text

After hide and seek finished, everyone got taken back to vote for the next round. Namgyu and Junhee had talked about it on the way back and had agreed to vote X so they could get out with the baby. O’s largely outnumbered the X’s once again and Junhee was starting to get increasingly worried. After the voting, her and Namgyu sat on a bed together. Junhee looked down at her baby and then looked at Namgyu.
“I’m really worried about the baby, what if they make her a player or something?”
Namgyu put a hand on her shoulder.
“They won’t, don’t worry” Namgyu reassured her.
They sat in silence for a while in their own thoughts until Junhee spoke.
“I still have no idea what to call her” she said sighing.
“Why don’t we figure out a name together?” Namgyu offered.
“Really!? Thank you!” Junhee yelled and pulled him into a tight hug.

Namgyu smiled and hugged her back. After a moment, they pulled away from each other.
“Ok, so have you got any name ideas?” Junhee asked still smiling.
“Not yet but we’ll think of something eventually” Namgyu replied.
They sat for a little while thinking about names, and eventually Namgyu thought of a name he thought Junhee would like and it would suit the baby.
“What about Eunae? It means grace with love”
“That’s actually a really nice name why don’t we call her that?” Junhee suggested. Namgyu nodded in agreement, he honestly thought it was a really pretty name. Junhee on the other hand, did like that name but she decided to call the baby that partly just to get the naming process out of the way. They both looked at the baby and then smiled at each other but got interrupted from someone shouting.

“Junhee!” It was Hyunju and Geumja smiling at her.
They rushed over and sat down on the bed next to Junhee and Namgyu.
“Have you named her yet?” Geumja questioned. “Yeah, we decided to call her Eunae” Junhee replied. “That’s such a nice name!” Hyunju said. “It was actually his idea” Junhee said pointing to Namgyu. Namgyu was surprised that Junhee had even mentioned he had come up with the name. He didn’t expect her to say anything but he was pretty happy that she did. “Well it was a good one” Geumja smiled facing Namgyu. Namgyu smiled back at her a bit awkwardly. “Can I hold her?” Hyunju asked “Of course!” Junhee replied handing her the baby. Hyunju made sure to be careful as she hadn’t really had experience holding babies.
“She’s so cute” Geumja said smiling.
Namgyu stood up.
“Well I’m gonna go”
Junhee grabbed his arm.
“No, stay with me” Junhee said pulling him back down.
“Is he your boyfriend?” Geumja asked looking confused.
Junhee turned away blushing and Namgyu chuckled slightly.
“No I’m not her boyfriend” Namgyu answered.
Hyunju handed Junhee back the baby. “Thank you so much for letting me hold her” she said gratefully. “It’s no problem, you’ve really helped me during all of these games” Junhee replied. Hyunju and Geumja left a few minutes later so Junhee amd Namgyu talked about Eunae until the guards came through the door. “Players, the next game is starting soon” one of the guards said flatly.

Junhee panicked. Despite Namgyu telling her they wouldn’t, she still worried about them making Eunae a player. She was also slightly worried that the game might too physically challenging considering that she had just given birth. Namgyu noticed her looking uncomfortable so he tapped her on the shoulder.
“Are you ok?” he asked softly.
“Um yeah I’m fine” Junhee replied.
“You don’t seem it” Namgyu was genuinely concerned.
“I’m just really worried. What if they do make they baby a player and what if the game is too difficult and I don’t make it?” “I promise they won’t make the baby a player and if it’s too difficult, I’ll make sure you get through it ok?” Namgyu reassured her.
Junhee couldn’t hold her tears back anymore and started crying. Namgyu thought about what to do for a minute but then pulled her into a hug. He felt Junhee crying into his jacket but he didn’t really mind as he hated the tracksuit anyway. Junhee kept crying for a while and Namgyu kept trying to comfort her but then they were interrupted by the guards coming back. “Players, the next game is starting now” the guard said in a monotone voice. Everyone stood up and the guards took them all to the next game. “I’m really scared” Junhee said worriedly. “We’ll be fine” Namgyu replied. They opened the doors to the next game. The same doll from Red light, Green light was there but there was a boy one on the other side. Between them, they both held a rope. There was a narrow bridge with a big gap in the middle. “The game you will be playing today is Jump rope, all players must make it across within the time limit without falling or getting hit” Junhee’s eyes widened. How the hell was she going to jump!? She had just given birth after all and she had the baby which she was going to have to take with her. And then, the rope began to go up and down like it did when she played jump rope as a child. She was even more worried now. On top of all of the rest of the problems she had, there was a narrow bridge with a massive gap and the rope moved! “Oh my god, I’m not going to make it” she said on the verge of tears. Then out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Gihun yelling something at Daeho and then walking up to her. “I’ll take your baby”

Notes:

My cuties :) Also Daeho is alive in this because he plays a role later on in the story. And yes, Namgyus first thought to comfort Junhee was to give her a pill 😭

Chapter 4: Jump rope

Chapter Text

“Really!? Thank you so much!” she replied and gave him a big hug.
“It’s no problem” Gihun said hugging her back.
Suddenly, music came on as the rope started rotating slowly. Gihun carefully took Eunae from Junhee and walked up to the bridge. He ran on and started jumping as the rope came down. It began to pick up the place. Junhee went to sit on a bench and was praying that he made it. Namgyu noticed how panicked Junhee looked and sat down next to her.
“He’ll make it, don’t worry”
He put an arm around her.
“I really hope so” Junhee replied.
She couldn’t take her eyes off of Gihun, terrified he was either going to fall off or drop her baby. She then noticed he got to the big gap. She started worrying even more. She felt like she was about to have a full blown panic attack. Namgyu pulled her closer. She looked away for a moment, too worried to look at Gihun and her baby. When Junhee looked back again, she saw Gihun had made it over the gap with Eunae. He jumped a few more times and then him and Eunae made it over. Junhee nearly cried happy tears as soon as he made it. He looked back over to her, holding her baby up. Everyone, including her and Namgyu cheered. Then, a few other people went over. Junhee noticed Daeho and Hyunju had began to cross. Geumja soon followed behind them. Geumja got over the gap but then slipped. She was barely holding on.

Daeho, already over at the end went back. Junhee was shocked. Was he going to help her? Then, he got to where Geumja was and helped her up. They had to jump straight after. They both continued over the bridge until they were at the end. Daeho looked over to where Junhee was sitting and smiled at her. She smiled back. Namgyu looked over at Daeho and then Junhee. He was slightly jealous but he was trying to ignore it.
“Who’s he?” he asked.
“He’s a friend of mine” Junhee replied.Namgyu looked up at the timer and realised there was only 5 minutes left. Him and Junhee were the only ones who hadn’t gone yet. He grabbed Junhee’s hand with his spare hand.
“Junhee we only have 5 minutes left, we have to go” he said slightly worried now.
She looked up at the timer and there was indeed only 5 minutes left.
You’re right, let’s go” she responded.
Junhee struggled to get up but Namgyu helped her. They made their way over to to the bridge. Junhee was terrified, Namgyu secretly was as well so he got his cross necklace and ate one of the pills.
“You want one?” he asked offering Junhee a pill.
“Fuck no” she replied disgusted.

They began to cross the bridge. They went as fast as they could but Junhee was struggling to keep going. Namgyu was fine and laughing but Junhee was completely terrified. She hesitated for a moment but the rope came down. She slipped. She was barely still on the platform. Namgyu heard the thud and looked behind him to see Junhee panicking to get up. Namgyu went back as fast as he could and picked her up. He had her on his back, holding her legs and Junhee, taken aback, grabbed on to Namgyu tightly. She was even more worried now. Namgyu found it easy until he got to the gap. If he was sober then he would have probably panicked but since the drugs effect was still there, he smiled wide and managed to jump the gap. Junhee screamed and clung onto him even tighter.
“Don’t worry, we’re gonna make it” Namgyu said quietly enough so only Junhee could hear him.
He then noticed there was only 30 seconds left but because of the drugs, he didn’t really care. They were so close the end. And then, one final jump and they made it across. Namgyu put Junhee down and she pulled him into a massive hug.
“Thank you so much!” she exclaimed.
Namgyu smiled and hugged her back just as tightly. After a moment, the guards brought them all back to the big room. On the way, Gihun handed Junhee Eunae back. Junhee and Namgyu both felt like the walk took forever. After they got back, Junhee and Namgyu sat down on Junhee’s bed with Eunae. Junhee and Namgyu talked for a while about how exhausted they were and how much they wanted to go home. Soon after, the votes came. Junhee and Namgyu voted X once again. So did Gihun, Daeho, Hyunju, Geumja and Minsu. Junhee didn’t really know who Minsu was. She knew his name and that Namgyu talked to him but that was it. The O team unfortunately still outnumbered them. Junhee and Namgyu went back to the bed where they had left the baby. Junhee and Namgyu talked for hours and felt as if they were in their own world without anyone else. And then, Namgyu moved slightly closer. Their faces were only a couple of centimetres apart now. Namgyu leaned in and kissed her. Junhee was surprised for a moment but kissed back.

Namgyu was the first to pull away.
“Sorry, I shouldn’t have-“
But he was cut off by Junhee as she pulled him back in and kissed him again. Namgyu wrapped his arms around her waist and Junhee wrapped hers around his neck. They got completely caught up in this until they heard a scream. It was Daeho covered in blood with Gihun behind him. Daeho screamed again as Gihun stabbed him. Then, someone stepped between them. It was Hyunju.

Notes:

Namgyu carrying Junhee and him kissing her was so last minute I just randomly wrote and went “Oh I like that idea!” So yeah… I kept it in
