Notebook

Summary:

Someone found a notebook at the rooftop, wonder who it belongs to.

Notes:

It has implied suicide and really vague settings. I tried to make sense though.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

I.. I am tightly clutching onto my shirt, took a deep breath and seated myself near the iron railings.

There I took a filler, lying in the ground. Not to mention, it was neatly placed.

I opened the filler, there at the first page it had nothing written on it. It was left blank, just like all the other notebooks do.

The next page, it had some kind of scribblings, I couldn't make out what it was supposed to be. I smiled and scratched my head. Man, was it such an artwork. The page after that was no different from the first one, but this time, I could barely see something that can be seen from that scribbling. It was a vision from inside my mind.

With a casual air around me I flipped through the pages until something caught my attention,  there I saw a drawing of a hand mirror and a pair of sunglasses. From some reason, they felt really strange. It was more cleanly drawn compare to the scribbles from earlier.

Why do I feel like I've seen this before?

I massaged my forehead and tried to release my mind and move on. I turned over the pages and some were written in different colors of pen. A passage from a page made my brow raise and put a hand over my mouth. There, it had some kind of cheesy pick-up lines. The owner of this notebook.. Were they bad with girls?

I stood up and I read one out in a moderate voice,

"Do you know anyone that knows how to repair watches? ..Why? …because time stops when I'm with you."

I ended up bursting in laughter. The owner of this notebook's really funny. Maybe we'd be able to get along. I thought. Their name wasn't written on the cover page, where could it be? I wouldn't want to jump straight to the back. I'll just scan everything first.

What would I do without you?

It was written quite legibly. Below was a drawing of some guy's back. Who is this? I feel like I've seen something like this.

Will you please look at me? It was written on the back side of the current page. The person that was drawn wore a parka and a pair of jeans. Their eyes were masked heavily with a black pen.

It gave me the chills, reading this page. I flipped the pages once more, there were about three pages left blank. Finally, I saw some hastily written notes. The subject wasn't written but upon reading the content, it's about some tips on being a successful comedian.

Why a comedian though?

The pages from here onwards weren't in the best condition. Some were folded, stained and wrinkled. Feeling the texture of the pages, it felt like it was sprinkled in water. However it was strange. It felt like the owner wrote something down and erased it. I'm getting curious now. What could it have been?

I'm nearing the end.

Thank you and I apologize for taking your time. Thank you for trying to remember but doesn't it hurt you? I'm a guilt guy after all.

I was frightened. I didn't want to continue but my mind says otherwise.

To my dearest brothers, take care of yourselves. You may all treat me like trash and left me to die.. but I still believe you aren't all heartless. I really didn't want everything to end like this..

Brothers..? My head starts to ache, I hear an irritating high pitched tone. I closed my eyes and saw five men who share the same height.

I, Karamatsu, have been very sinful, I've been bad, I've been had. My existence is null. It doesn't mean anything. Thank you for all the wonderful and painful memories along the way.

Karamatsu? What? I closed the notebook and instinctively walked towards the iron railings, if this is a … and I'm on the rooftop.. that means..

I leaned on the railings and peered down…

Notes:

Hey, you made it! Thanks for giving my story a read! It's my first time writing this kind of stuff. I like to keep it simple and clean but I don't if I did it, though.
