As the school year started, it went fairly normally. Gabriel would cheat on his work, talk to cheese, and half ass his chores. It wasn't a fun or pretty life, but it was his life: Less living and more routine. Of course, he knew cheating on his school work wasn't… ideal. But who the hell cares- he didn't.
But it wasn't as fun when there wasn't someone constantly blowing up his phone. He got it; she was busy. She's at school… doing whatever she did at school. Sometimes he wondered what she looked like when she was in deep thought. He wonders about what kinds of dresses she likes, about what classes she liked the best. He loved reading her little notes she had left on their Google Doc throughout the day. It made him feel like he was back in public school again.
Today was quiet, per usual. Gabriel and his older sister had to run to the store, and his older sister… he trusted her. He came out to her about many things. Walking down the aisle with all of the plates, cups, and silverware, Gabriel was rambling away about all sorts of things when cheese became the subject.
“Well, yeah, just last night, she and I were talking about cooking plans for if or when we ever meet up. She said she loves cooking for others.” Gabriel spoke wistfully, cheeks slightly red by the thought of her. He didn't know he was blushing, of course, but if it wasn't the blush on his cheeks that gave it away, it was that goddamn goofy ass smile. Yeah, could you tell how great he was at masking his emotions??
Of course, his older sister catches on, lovely, and teases. “You're all red-” The pause. The fucking pause. ”Ooooooooohhhhhh.” Real mature, bro. “You have a crush on her, don't you?!”
“Well- I wouldn't say it's a serious thing-” She cuts him off, “You always get so smiley when you talk about her.” Gabriel just scoffs and shrugs, looking anywhere but at his sister. Yeah, that random balloon stuck on the ceiling was perfectly entertaining all of a sudden. “She's just a friend,” Gabriel claimed confidently, tossing some forks into the cart. “I'm probably never gonna get a chance with her, so I'm not too worried about this! Trust me, I'll be over it by next week! Like always.”

Well, a week passes, and wouldn't you know it, Gabriels is still whipped. He acts like he isn't, but let's be honest, Gabriel only ever keeps Discord open on his laptop in case she needs him, and right now, she needed him to listen to this recipe she was talking about.
”And the idea is to crush up the cheesecake and brownie together! Ive been calling it cheesecake brownie crumble! :}”
”That sounds so fucking good. Maybe I should try making that one day…”
Gabriel smiles to himself as he imagines himself baking. Him . Allowed in the kitchen. Two worlds that didn't go together for many reasons. Be it his supremely broken oven or his inability to bake something edible. He could imagine how happy she would be to see him actually trying, how proud…
His thoughts traill of quietly as he reads the next text
”YEA!!! Im gonna make them next friday to help confess to culinary guy.”

What.
Culinary guy. Yeah, she's talked about him before. How they met, and he let her ramble about cannibalism to him, how the two would hang out, and how she would help out with voice acting in a game or whatever for him. But-... Gabriel figured it was a friendly thing! Not a… her liking him type of deal. A crush…? Not that he was mad or anything! Just… surprised. yea. That was good for her. Good for him.
”OHHHH???? I KNEW YOU HAD A CRUSH ON HIM!!!!”
”OH, HUSH YOU!”
Nailed it.
”BUT YEA! IM GONNA GO USE THE BROWNIES TO CONFESS!! That way it can be a nice treat if he says yes, or a little thing to soften the blow if he says no :}”
”hehe… you're so smart”
And it's true. She was, and god was she doing was so smart, and so sweet… so… her.
” He's gonna be super lucky!”
”I hope so…”
Gabriel sighs as he closes his phone. A crush on a guy… A crush on a guy Gabriel only knows as Culinary guy .
